Report: France, Germany Pressure Bulgaria into NOT Naming Hezbollah as Behind Bus Bombing

Unbelievable! Oh, wait. Did I say unbelievable? I meant, very believable. As in -- exactly what we've learned to expect from Old Europe:

The Commentator has learned that both the German and French governments have both piled pressure on the Bulgarians to "use nuanced language" in the report, for fear that Bulgaria may be the focus of future attacks if Hezbollah is openly named.

The Bulgarian government, it has been stated by leading sources, has been informed through ‘back channels’ that there will be serious repercussions from Hezbollah if it is to publically and overtly name the group. This information comes despite strong pressure from the US government to make clear that the bombing was indeed the work of the Lebanese terrorist outfit.

So, if this info is right then Germany and France don't want Bulgaria to call out Hezbollah by name as behind the bus bombing for fear that ... Hezbollah will attack again?

Hezbollah: call them terrorists and they will keel you!

Isn't the clear implication here that terrorism does work? That at least some countries in Europe can be scared into policy decisions favored by the terrorists for fear of violence.

I think it does.

Of course, there is another explanation here. Namely, that France and Germany don't consider blowing up a bus full of Jews as "terrorism".

Nah, that could never happen.

Re-Reconquista: Spain Adopts Islamic Death Penalty for Blasphemy

So, in Spain if you blaspheme Mohammad then you may have your residency revoked and deported to a country that kills blasphemers? Who needs an Islamic reconquista when the Spanish government does all the hard work for you?

Imran Firasat, a Muslim-turned-Christian from Pakistan who currently resides in Spain, is facing down a Spanish government that seems determined to punish him for his film, The Innocent Prophet, about the prophet Muhammad. The Spanish government has: 1) revoked his Spanish residency and now threatens to extradite him; and 2) initiated a prosecution for violating a Spanish hate speech law. The Spanish authorities have justified their revocation of his residency on the grounds that he is "threatening national security with the production of this video."....

The most disturbing part of this Spanish campaign against Mr. Firasat is that the Spanish government really should know better than to push for Imran Firasat's deportation from Spain. As the government is aware, if he is sent to Pakistan, he may face death for his frequent blasphemy.

Switzerland Home of Cheese, Chocolate, Nuclear Smuggling

It's about time. The smuggling occurred back in 2003:

Three Swiss engineers - a father and his two sons - have been charged with breaking arms export laws by aiding a Pak-led nuclear smuggling ring that supplied Libya's atomic weapons programme, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

The men's formal indictment follows almost a decade of politically-charged investigation that lifted the veil on one of the most successful international intelligence operations to stop nuclear proliferation to rogue states.

Urs Tinner, 46, his brother Marco, 43, and their father Friedrich, 74, are suspected of providing technology and know-how to the nuclear smuggling network of Abdul Qadeer Khan, the architect of Pakistain's nuclear weapons programme, the federal prosecutors office in Bern said in a statement.

Sweden Grants Radical Muslims Asylum
Rejects Afghan Khalid Saheed

Khalid Saheed fled Afghanistan because after leaving Islam he has been threatened with death for apostasy.

Our good friend Phyllis Chesler is writing on his behalf.

Letter To The Government of Sweden and Migration Board:

I am writing to you on behalf of Khalid Saeed’s petition to remain in Sweden, a petition which you have denied. I implore you to revisit his case.

His life—and Sweden’s reputation for fairness and morality are both at stake.

Khalid Saeed and his family have been living in Sweden since 2009. Saeed joined the 5% of the Swedish population who are Muslims. However, unlike Muslims who have rioted and/or who have refused to assimilate in Sweden, Khalid is a pro-Western apostate.

This is precisely why he fled Pakistan. Apostasy is a capital crime in Islam, and so is any preference shown to Western ways of thought.

Khalid Saeed was a car dealer in Islamabad, Pakistan. He is married and has three children. Once he made his views known, he was threatened. He fled. In his own words, he claims:

“I have never worshipped Allah nor do I or my wife, Asia, believe in Islam as the only truth for mankind. I have distanced myself from Islam years ago. That is my curse. My wife, the mother to our children, agrees. She will not see her daughter brought up in a society where women are only half humans and neither will I.

"As parents we also do not want to stand (helpless) on the side line and watch our two lovely and open-minded boys being forced into any kind of holy jihad group or society whose only objective is to oppress, threaten, and intimidate others to blindly follow the pitiless words of the profane muslim prophet Mohammad and his followers’ medieval Islamic sharia laws.”

Anyone who sounds like this in Pakistan, or in any Pakistani Muslim community in the world is a dead man.

And yet, you have refused him asylum in Sweden. I strongly disagree with your ruling on his application for asylum.

I assume you are familiar with the fate of apostates: Muslims who convert to Christianity or who describe themselves as “humanists” or “secularists,” or who believe in freedom of religion.

Sweden’s own 2010 Report on Human Rights in Pakistan confirms that religious minorities are severely persecuted in Pakistan as are any people who are in favor of free speech, academic freedom, and independent thought. For example, the governor of the Punjab (in Pakistan) was assassinated when he wanted to pursue reforms against blasphemy laws.

The International Humanist and Ethical Union, which was founded in Amsterdam, spent years campaigning for the life of physician and human rights activist Dr. Younus Sheikh who languished on Death Row in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

We know that many Muslims are not friendly toward any infidel religion, including Christians, Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, etc. Christians have been—and still are—being savagely persecuted in Muslim lands. I and many others have written about this often. Author and apostate Nonie Darwish and ex-Muslim secularist Ibn Warraq have both spoken out about this burning issue.

Christians are being savagely persecuted in Egypt and all across the Middle East and Islamic world.

In Pakistan, Christians have literally been crucified, teenaged Christian girls have been kidnapped, raped, then forced to marry their rapists and convert to Islam.

Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, do not allow Christians, Jews, or other “infidels” to pray openly or to build any or new houses of worship.

The Arab Muslim Middle East is almost completely “Judenrein,” (free of Jews) since more than 800,000 Arab Jews were exiled or forced to flee their countries between 1948-1968.

In 2010, in Pakistan, a Muslim mob attacked a Christian man and slaughtered him with pick-axes for refusing to convert to Islam.

According to Mina Nevisa, an Iranian Muslim convert to Christianity who wrote a book about her experiences, both she and her female cousin were attending an underground church in Teheran. Nevis fled Iran together with her husband. Her cousin was not so lucky. “She was arrested on charges of Apostasy and taken to Evin prison, where she was raped, tortured, and then killed by a firing squad. The pastor was also killed.”

The situation for Muslim apostates in Europe is also perilous. High profile apostates, such as Egyptian-Italian Magdi Christiano Allam, who was converted to Catholicism by the Pope, lives with six round-the-clock bodyguards. Aayan Hirsi Ali, the Somali-Dutch-American apostate-secularist, also requires a full time security detail. People who do not have public profiles, who are not academics, intellectuals, politicians, or public speakers, also face similar problems.

In 2001, “Sabatina James” (a pseudonym) fled from Austria to Germany and went into hiding to escape being honor-murdered by her family after she converted from Islam to Christianity. Her family had immigrated from Pakistan.

“Sabatina’s” troubles began when she was 15 years old. Because she dared to wear lipstick and blue jeans, she was mercilessly beaten. When she rejected marriage to a cousin, “Sabatina” was sent to a Qur’anic school in Lahore, where she was repeatedly flogged. She finally agreed to the marriage—but only in order to be able to return to Austria. Then, when she was 19 years old, she fled.

In 2009, Iraqi-born Vian Bakir Fatah was stabbed to death by her Iraqi ex-husband in Norway. She had converted to Christianity and had a new boyfriend. Her ex-husband murdered her in the presence of their four children.

In the past, Sweden has presumably been at the forefront of human rights activism and legislation. Now, in this case, it seems that Sweden has failed its own stated ideals.

Given the information that I and others are providing, I strongly urge you to reconsider Khalid Saeed’s case. If not, his blood, and the blood of his wife and children will be on Swedish hands.

Signed: Professor Phyllis Chesler

Please send this on to your Senators, elected representatives and the President.

If the country of Sweden doesn't do the right thing then the least we can do is offer Khalid Saheed a place here where he can be free. Damn crying shame we let Afghanistan keep this sixth century Sharia BS in its constitution to start with.

Also please support Phyllis' writing here.

VBIED Splodes in Stockholm (Updated/Rebumped Again) Islamic Terrorism Confirmed (Exclusive Images of Bomber Must Cite Jawa Report) Sticky

Update IX (12/13/2010) by DMartyr: Vlad Tepes has video and audio from the explosion. (SH: Note the dude holding the sign, splodey dope was a sign carrier also. Anyone make out what is on the sign?):

------
Begin original post

------

swedishbombersmall.pngForbes:

STOCKHOLM -- Two explosions shook central Stockholm on Saturday, killing one person and injuring two, rescue officials said.

Police spokeswoman Petra Sjolander said a car exploded near Drottninggatan, a busy shopping street in the center of the city. Shortly afterward, a second explosion was heard higher up on the same street, and a man was found injured on the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

..."I saw some people crying, perhaps from the chock," he said. "There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him."

Gabiro said the blast was "quite loud" and he saw smoke coming from the area where the man was lying.

Few details except one familiar item. The vehicle was stuffed with gas canisters, which I take as propane cylinders and gasoline. Gee I wonder if anyone has tried that before?

And it appears they wanted to blow up Christmas, excuse me, Cross Worshiping Shoppers.

Must have been those pesky Lutherans protesting the commercialization of Christmas?

Update: An image from the scene credit Reuters.

stockholdbombscene.jpg

Update II: Stockholm News has a complete report. Determined to be sudden Jihad Syndrome. They are reporting it as a Suicide Bombing.

Police bomb technicians examined the dead man's bag by using a bomb robot. Radiographs show that it contained a large quantity of nails and an unknown substance which is suspected to be explosives.

At least four ambulances were sent to the scene. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries, they were in the vicinity of the explosions.

The adjacent streets have been cordoned off.

According to witnesses, the man shouted something in Arabic before the bomb detonated.

The Swedish news agency TT reports that both them and the Swedish Security Service received a video-film only ten minutes before the explosions.

In the film a man addresses to "Sweden and the Swedish people". He,among else, refers to the Swedish silence on artist Lars Vilks paintings of Mohammed, the Swedish soldiers in Afghanistan, saying that "now shall your children, daughters and sisters die as our brothers and sisters and children are dying."

What you mean I was wrong about the Lutherans?

My apologies....

And also credit Charles for being ahead of me.

I wonder where this splodey dope would have gotten an idea like this in Sweden?

Update III: Here are some portions of the email audio message sent to the press.

“Now, your children — daughters and sisters — will die like our brothers and sisters and children die,” it continued. “Our actions will speak for themselves. As long as you do not end your war against Islam and the insult against the prophet and your stupid support for that pig Vilks

The recorded message sent to Swedish news organizations demanded that Muslims in Sweden “stop sucking up and degrading yourselves,” and broadened the appeal to “all mujahedeen,” or holy warriors, in Europe. “Now it’s time to attack,” it said. “Do not wait any longer. Come forth with whatever you have, even if it is a knife, and I know that you can bring more than knives. Fear no one. Do not be afraid of jail. Do not fear death.”

If anyone finds a complete transcript please email Howie.

Update IV: Exclusive bomber's profile from Muslima.com. He has been identified as Taimour Abdulwahab.

Update V by SH: Partial transcript of presumed bombers audio sent via EXPRESSEN[goolish translate

Following is a transcript of the audio file emailed to Swedish news agency TT that was sent at 16:40 on Saturday. Please note that some of them also in the Swedish section was read in Arabic. There are also audio files in English or Arabic.

Note that there is still no confirmation that the voice on the audio file can be linked to explosions in Stockholm.

"In Arabic: The merciful God's name. Prayer and peace to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
In God, the merciful Father Name:

In Swedish: Very short and wide to Sweden and Swedish people. Thanks to Lars Vilks and his paintings of the Prophet Muhammad (in Arabic), peace be upon him (in Swedish) and your soldiers in Afghanistan and your silence on all this so will your children, daughters, brothers and sisters die like that our brothers and sisters and children die.

It will be all the rage on the al-Qaeda martyrdom tape. They'll never consider that he looks peaceful because he's effing dead.

Update VII: Expect a dynamite update when our leader Dr. Rusty Shackleford gets back, quote.

The guy is connected.
As in connected to the online Jihad.

Also thanks to Brad Thor for sharing us on Facebook. Wished I could see it ;)

Update VIII by SH: Just a little funny quote

The fact that the Stockholm attack failed suggests al-Qaida is not in a position to train its supporters properly, British sources said.
I feel alQaeda, if connected, trained them very well. Al Qaeda, you devils you...trickin the Ummah

Also, the splodey dope's property is still being searched in Bedfordshire, while the Guardian[link above] found a neighbor who lives by. Same ole, same ole

Metropolitan police officers last night searched a property in Bedfordshire under the Terrorism Act 2000, the force said. It was reported last night that his family still lived in Luton and that neighbours last saw him two and a half weeks ago.

Tahir Hussain, 33, a taxi driver who lives nearby, told the Daily Telegraph: "I used to see him around often. He didn't say much but seemed nice. I used to see him walking with his kids.

"I was shocked when I heard what happened because I never thought he could do such a thing."

Shocked!!! srzly.

Wow: German Chancellor Tells Immigrants to Assimilate or Leave

This lady has balls. Real cajones. Are we sure she wasn't on the East German women's weight lifting team?

Merkel weighed in for the first time in a blistering debate sparked by a central bank board member saying the country was being made “more stupid” by poorly educated and unproductive Muslim migrants. …

This approach has failed, totally,” she said, adding that immigrants should integrate and adopt Germany’s culture and values.

“We feel tied to Christian values. Those who don’t accept them don’t have a place here,” said the chancellor.

“Subsidising immigrants” isn’t sufficient, Germany has the right to “make demands” on them, she added, such as mastering the language of Goethe and abandoning practices such as forced marriages.

And, as noted in Ed's commentary, she doesn't go over the top and condemn all Muslim immigrants: just the ones who don't want to assimilate.

I guess the question is this: does assimilation mean learning German and following the rule of law only? Or does it also mean adopting widely shared values such separation of church and state and free speech? Because the two are distinctly differing problems.

Contrary to some opinion, there are a lot of Muslim immigrants who do fully assimilate. They either came here because they hated their own countries, or came here for economic reasons and once here realized that their own countries suck. They've embraced America in the way only immigrants and the children of immigrants can: fully, wholeheartedly, and without reservation.

Case in point.

Of course, it's easier to fall in love with America than Germany. Sure they have schnitzel and beer, but we have this, this, and this.

Not all, of course, but a lot.

No, Obama Didn't Green Light Lockerbie Bomber's Release -- But it Looks like the BP Oil Deal Exchange Theory is True

I'm getting tons of emails about the leaked letter from the US Ambassador in the UK which proceeded the release of the Lockerbie bomber, Abdel Baset al-Megrahi.

The headline at the Australian is misleading. The memo shows the exact opposite from the "White House backed release of Lockerbie bomber." In fact, if you take the time to actually read the article, you'll see the Obama Administration was against the release. It's not until six paragraphs in that we read:

In the letter, sent on August 12 last year to Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and justice officials, Mr LeBaron wrote that the US wanted Megrahi to remain imprisoned in view of the nature of the crime.
So, Obama and his people in the State Department opposed the release.

This does not mean there is nothing to see here, though. The letter suggests that they saw the release of the mass-murderer as a fait accompli. That if al-Megrahi was going to be released, then it would be better for him to be kept on house arrest rather than flown back to Libya.

The note added: "Nevertheless, if Scottish authorities come to the conclusion that Megrahi must be released from Scottish custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer, which we strongly oppose."

Mr LeBaron added that freeing the bomber and making him live in Scotland "would mitigate a number of the strong concerns we have expressed with regard to Megrahi's release".

So, it looks like they knew that Megrahi was going to be released. It looks like they did oppose the deal, but that not much diplomatic effort was put forth to stop it, and it looks like his release was really negotiated as part of a deal for BP to drill in Libyan waters.

It makes the Obama Administration's diplomatic team look like minor leaguers. But the real villains here are those in the previous UK Labour government that seemed to have negotiated the deal between Libya and BP. Some might call that sort of deal criminal.

And to be honest, until I heard about this over the weekend I was inclined to write off the accusations as part of a general anti-BP mood combined with the usual conspiracy theories. But now? Not so much.

Germans Say Yes to Hasselhoff and Terror Funding

The German media are throwing a hissy fit over the fact that we can request information about suspicious money flows.

It's ironic to have Germans worried about civil liberties. Here's a country that has no free speech -- literally -- and yet if the U.S. government asks whether or not money flowing from this account to that account might be funding terrorism? Well, you can't do that!

Why the Europeans are a Bunch of Security Freeloaders

From Joe Noory on Europe's unwillingness to help in any substantial way in Afghanistan (the "good war"), let alone any conflict:

The problem is quite simply that the public in European societies aren’t ever convinced that there is much of anything worth defending, correcting, or fighting for. It’s why so many are willing to resort to calling for any other instrument (talks, dropping aid in the zone, placation of one form or another) because at the moment the question comes up, it doesn’t sound openly like the language of evasion.
When a civilization loses faith that the very values that define them are worth fighting for, then they are doomed to the ash heap of history.

Petition in Support of Geert Wilders

I'll have to agree with CJ's comments on the stupidity of Wilders' and others calling for the Quran to be outlawed. The sentiment is double for those who want to ban Islam (greyrooster).

We managed to defeat the great Communist empire, all while Das Kapital was perfectly legal and the Communist Party USA duped people into believing that Breshnev's Soviet Union was a more just society than our own.

Besides, the major threat of the Islamist movement to most of the world's population isn't violent jihad given that many of these movements (ie, Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood) have embraced democratic processes for achieving their ends. The major problem with Islamism is that sharia law is so fundamentally oppressive and anathema to liberty. One major point of oppression being that sharia outlaws criticism of Islam, conversion of Muslims to other religions, and embraces religious censorship.

So, sign the petition in support of Geert Wilders, but understand that it is not necessary to defeat an oppressive ideology through adopting similarly oppressive ideologies.

Swedish Government Fires Blogger for Supporting Israel

Near complete dhimmification in Sweden:

The Swedish Government hold that same positions: Israel have a right to exist. Hamas is a terror organisation.

My employer did not, however, find it appropriate for me to hold these opinions and to express them publicly. I have, because of my opinions, been forced to leave my employment.

This employment was with the Swedish Migration Board, a governmental agency which as one of its major tasks has to protect foreigners from persecusion by granting them asylum in Sweden, for instance because they have expressed their political opinions publicly.

Ironic and sad. Thanks to Brian.

Dragonslayer, Human Sacrifices, and Hamas

dragonslayer.jpg
If my bona fides as an uber geek weren't already established, let me pause to reveal that a couple of nights ago I watched Dragonslayer on whatever cable channel was playing it.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie, the plot revolves around a King who makes a deal with a dragon. One fair maiden is to be sacrificed to the dragon every so often; in return the dragon doesn't attack the Kingdom, burning its crops and villages.

A ceasefire agreement, if you will, between the King and the dragon.

A "wise and just" policy claims the princess, who we later learn hasn't had her name placed in the lottery and who volunteers to become the dragon's sacrifice to right the wrong, all the while a wizard's apprentice schemes to slay the beast. And for most of the movie the apprentice's efforts are met from condemnation from the King's court who fear kindling the ire of the dragon.

I couldn't help but think while watching the movie that the world is demanding that Israel make a similar deal with Hamas. Those children and civilians killed by the hundreds of rockets shot at Israeli cities during the "ceasefire" are human sacrifice demanded by the world in order to keep the "peace". Their lives taken so that others may live.

Only the King gets the better deal in the movie than Israel does in reality. At least in the movie the dragon keeps his end of the deal and lets the kingdom be as long as a maiden is sacrificed. The dragon that is Hamas demands that Israel willingly sacrifice its children to it and in return Israel gets .... nothing.

No, not nothing actually. In return for sacrificing its children to Hamas Israel gets less bad press. Not good press, but at least less bad press. Some deal, that.

The real beneficiaries of this dragon's pact are not in the Middle East, but in Europe. Europeans demand that the Jews sacrifice their children not to appease Hamas, but to appease their own Muslim minorities and leftwing activists who threaten violence against European governments every time Israel responds to the attempted murder of its children.

Better that a few Jews die than risk civil unrest at home. As long as Hamas rocket attacks only kill a small number of Israeli civilians then Europeans conclude that the price in human blood is worth it.

The governments of Europe have come full circle. From pagan to Christian to atheist to pagan. Offering the blood of Jews to appease the dragon of Islam.

On the one hand Kosovo is so thoroughly secular, reports Michael Totten, that you can buy porn right on the streets. On the other hand, Kosovo is so backward that people still have to buy their porn in magazine form. So, you know, they can't be that modern. I mean, that's why the internet was invented, right?

Unfortunately Totten also reports that the Saudis are pouring millions of dollars into the rebuilding of mosques. And paying people to dress more conservatively. Which would be fine and all, except that the chicks appear to be rather hot.

Video: Kosovo Muslims Desecrate Serbian Church

The video is old, and I would send you over to CNS to watch it but frankly I can't find it there. It purports to be of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) soldiers desecrating a Serbian Orthodox Christian church.

Before you get all frantic about this as proof Kosovo's Muslims are out to wipe out Christianity and institute sharia law, I'd encourage you to remember that this kind of thing worked both ways during the war and the video appears to be old. I'd guess it's from between 1997-1999, the height of the conflict. This kind of church desecration was probably just as common as Serbs desecrating mosques.

I'm no fan of the thugs in the KLA, but this is the least of their atrocities.

Islamists Get One Right in Turkey

Looks like they're going to lift the ban on head scarves at universities in Turkey. Good for them. It actually makes Turkey a more liberal society if not a more secular one.

Forbidding women from wearing a headscarf is just as oppressive as requiring them to. Liberty is about choice.

Having said that, here's some advice to Turkish women: Don't wear the headscarf. It makes you look fat.

Now, choose.

BBC News:

Two major parties in Turkey say they will submit a joint plan to parliament to ease a ban on the Islamic headscarf in universities.

The Islamist-rooted governing AK Party and the nationalist MHP say it is an issue of human rights and freedoms.

The two parties have enough votes in parliament to overturn the constitutional ban on headscarves.

Italy Expels Imam

I wonder how many other imams would be expelled if their sermons were simply videotaped? I'm guessing a lot.

In the past I've argued that the least intrusive way of stopping the spread of radical Islam in the West would be to simply base visas for clerics on a reciprocal basis. This would drop the number of foreign born clerics to nearly zero since Muslim countries rarely let Western clerics in. It would also give an incentive to Islamic countries to embrace modern notions of freedom of religion.

JP:

Italy expelled a Turin imam to his native Morocco Wednesday after his sermons were secretly filmed and his views were deemed a threat to public security, officials said.

Mohamed Kohaila, who had been living in Italy for years, was deported in the evening, according to the Interior Ministry.

The ministry said local and national anti-terrorism authorities determined that Kohaila was inciting "violently anti-Western behavior" and maintained relations with extremists close to militant jihadists.

Good riddance!

Crisis Averted: Italy Siezes Quranic Toilet Seats

It's an old story, but somehow I missed it. Apparently it's a crime in Italy to write versus of the Quran on a toilet seat. Muslims were outraged at the blasphemy. Laws against blasphemy in Italy?

If that is indeed, the law, then hasn't Italy already adopted sharia?

Islam Online:

Italian Muslims have swiftly acted to stop the sale in local stores of toilet seat covers that feature verses of the Noble Qur'an in an unprecedented blasphemous act, reporting the matter to appropriate authorities and politicians, who proved forthcoming.
Or are they just afraid that outraged Muslims might start blowing stuff up?
"We reacted astutely to this provocation and threw the ball in the court of security officials and politicians, demanding them to seize the products immediately to head off angry Muslim reaction," [Samir Al-Khalidi, the head of the Islamic Centre (Al-Huda) in Rome] added.

Following Muslim complaints, police raided the four braches of the company in the town of Latina, 60km south of Rome, and seized 2,000 such pieces on sale.

Interior minister Giuliano Amato met Friday with Italian Muslim leaders at the main Rome Mosque to reassure them that Italy would not tolerate such outrageous acts.

Maybe we should just write Europe off as a total loss and start over in, say, India?

Heartache: Blacklisting of Terror Financiers "most grievous human rights violation" on Earth; Daniel Pearl Unavailable for Comment

Wow, are the Europeans really this hysterical over the U.N. and EU "blacklisting" suspected terror financiers? Yes, they are. By blacklisting they mean the practice of impounding the assets of suspected terrorists and banning them from flying.

In this U.S. we call this "designation", meaning that the individual or organization has been designated by the U.S. State Department a foreign terrorist organization (FTO).

WaPo:

The methods used by the United Nations and the European Union for blacklisting terrorism suspects are "totally arbitrary" and "violate the fundamental principles of human rights and rule of law," a European human rights panel said Monday....

"A serial killer in Europe has a lot more rights,"....

"Despite any recent procedural improvements, it remains nearly impossible de facto for an individual or an entity to get . . . removed from a blacklist," the committee said, adding that the new procedures "are just as flawed as the previous ones."

The panel said the "most grievous human rights violation" is the disregard for fair trial, noting that no type of hearing -- public or private -- is held before an individual or organization is listed.

After reading this, I have to wonder whether or not the panel is secretly being run by Andrew Sullivan?

Funny enough, they use the "plight" of an Italian Muslim Brotherhood leader & suspected al Qaeda financier, Youssef Nada, as their best case for why the process is so flawed. His Al Taqwa Bank was involved in secretly funding al Qaeda through a number of nefarious schemes. He is being tried in absentia in Egypt because the Italians refuse to extradite him.

Gobsmackingly vile!

"Help me kill those who offended the Prophet" UPDATED

I'd call death threats against those who have the audacity to blaspheme the Muslim prophet Mohamed alarming. But it's not. In fact, it's quite predictable. Since Islam recognizes no distinction between sin and crime than anything deemed blasphemous would be considered criminal.

And what is the penalty for unrepentant blasphemers under Islamic law? Death.

Flemming Rose writes from Copenhagen about death threats against blasphemers and apostates in Europe and 'moderate' Muslims trying to stifle free speech.

Convicted Internet Jihadi's al Qaeda Connection

swiss_internet_terrorists.jpgCan you say Black Widow? Yesterday I reported that Tunisian Moez Garsallaoui and his Belgian wife Malika al-Aroud had been convicted in a Swiss court for running a number of al Qaeda propaganda website. You'll recall that they both claimed they had no knowledge about what was being said on the website. Let me assure you that the al-Minbar websites, run by the couple, were some of the most vile pro-violent jihad websites out there.

Moez Garsallaoui was given six months in prison and Malika al-Aroud was given a suspended sentence. That means she will serve no time for her involvement in the distribution of al Qaeda propaganda--including disgustingly vile hostage beheading videos which the forum cheered on. Outrageous!

But I wonder if the judge would have been so lenient if he knew that Malika al-Aaroud's now deceased husband was Abdessater Dahmane? Because if the judge knew that and released her back on to the streets of Switzerland, then there is really little hope for Europe's future.

Who was Abdessater Dahmane? He was one of the al Qaeda assassins who murdered Ahmed Shah Massoud, leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, on September 9, 2001. Dahmane was one of the two assassins who pretended to be journalists. In their interview with Massoud, immediately before they set off the bomb believed to have been hidden in the video camera they brought along, they expressed their support for Osama bin Laden.

The timing of Massoud's death was almost certainly linked to the 9/11 plot---an attempt to hurt the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance before any possible American retaliation.

In August of 2004, just as the al-Minbar websites run by the couple were beginning to be investigated, CNN sat down with Moez Garsallaoui and Malika al-Aroud. While yesterday it was Moez who got the jail time, the CNN interview made it obvious that it was his wife, the burqa clad Malika, who wore the pants in that family:

We met el Aroud on a cold February day in Guin, a small town in Switzerland north of Fribourg. She lives there with her new husband, a Tunisian named Moez Garsalloui, whom she gently bosses around. She is a woman who says what she thinks....

El Aroud is a passionate believer in bin Laden's jihad and, together with her new husband, devotes her time to running a Web site promoting it....

Gazing into CNN's cameras she told us, "It's the pinnacle in Islam to be the widow of a martyr. For a woman it's extraordinary."...

"Abdessater [her former husband] dreamed of being under Osama bin Laden's orders," she said. "Yes, he dreamed of pledging allegiance to him. Oh yes. That was his dream. It was to meet Osama bin Laden and to shake his hand and put himself under his orders."

In mid-2001 Abdessater went to Afghanistan. El Aroud said he was determined to find a theater to fight in, preferably Chechnya. But bin Laden recruited him into al Qaeda, and he trained at a camp in Jalalabad....

Yet el Aroud described this as a happy time; she was reunited with her husband and had been accepted into a close-knit community. Only later did she realize that she had lived in the "middle of Osama bin Laden's clan," a circle, she told CNN, that included bin Laden's wives.

"They seemed happy from what I could tell," she said. "They were radiant, even. Otherwise they wouldn't be married to him. I don't think he was forceful with them." ...

El Aroud said she learned of her husband's death on September 12, 2001. As she described how the families around her came to congratulate her for her husband's actions there was noticeable tension in her voice. It was a huge shock to her, and for weeks after she was numb with grief, she said.

An al Qaeda courier dropped off a letter from bin Laden that included $500. She said bin Laden had wanted to settle a debt. With the letter came a tape, chillingly from her dead husband in which he told her he loved her but that he was "already on the other side." ....

She is undaunted by the investigation into her Web site and she ushered us into her bedroom to show us how she runs the forum. As the crew recorded from behind her, a large image popped on her computer monitor -- Osama bin Laden.

And it was not only her second husband that Malika seems to have dominated. Her relationship with her former al Qaeda assassin husband seems to have been quite unusual, to say the least. From a PBS Frontline special:
Abdessatar Dahmane, one of the two Tunisians settled in Belgium who murdered Ahmed Shah Massoud, took his wife, Malika el Aroud (a Belgian citizen born in Tangier, Morocco), to Afghanistan. She wrote a book in French, telling how her husband behaved like a 'modern' man (sewing the buttons on his shirt because she hated doing such tasks).
Are we seeing a pattern her? As the CNN article makes clear, it was Malika al-Aroud, and not her husband, who was the force behind the website. If any one deserves jail time, it was her.

Today, this friend of the bin Laden family and open supporter of al Qaeda, walks the streets of Guin, Switzerland.

Al Qaeda Targetting Neutral Countries

This story is funny. No, more like ha-ha funny. If a neutral country, Switzerland---one with nary a soldier anywhere in the Middle East--is on al Qaeda's hit list, then that says something about the Islamists 'legitimate demands'.

I guess if you're not with al Qaeda, you're against them....

NZZ Online:

Islamic inspired terrorism is still a threat in Switzerland, according to an internal Swiss security report published on Thursday.

The Federal Police Office's annual report said that the country was in the "danger zone" in western Europe and that it was also used as a logistical and propaganda base.

In the past few years it has become clear that militant group al:Qaeda is still able to carry out attacks in western Europe, often using untrained individuals and at unexpected times, said the Police Office.

It added that Switzerland was known to be a logistics, preparation, propaganda centre, and retreat for extremist groups.

But the report noted that there were other reasons, apart from its geographical location, why Switzerland could become the target for a terror attack.

"Individual supporters of Jihad [Holy War] see Switzerland as part of a plot against Islam," said the Police Office in a statement.

"At the same time, according to our current information, there are active Islamic fundamentalists in Switzerland, among them extremists ready to use violence."

The report goes on to say that Switzerland's terror threat is much lower than in France and Germany. Why? Far fewer immigrants.

Video: Racist German Military Training

By popular request, here is the racist German army training video. Apparently the instructor says something like: “You are in the Bronx. A black van is stopping in front of you. Three African-Americans are getting out and they are insulting your mother in the worst ways. … Act.” I think having a trainee think of David Hasselhof would be far more effective, but that's just me.
