#OccupyWallStreet a bunch of losers on a traffic island

Just got a call of someone who went at lunch for a look-see:

- its a tiny patch of land that is formed by a traffic triangle, not really a park
- 1/3 of protesters are people in their 70's normally dressed but carrying bizarre signs (old hippies)
- 1/3 are college age sitting on garbage bags who look very, very stoned and take turns leading the group chants
- one older man sitting at a table with three battered hardhats left there in support
- 20% at least were pedestrian gawkers just walking through and pointing
- most of the black people were in one corner gathered around Al Sharpton
- Susan Surandon
- the homeless who had been living there before are all pushed into one corner
- some of the elderly were standing on boxes around the perimeter facing out and reading the constitution

All in all, a media sham by the libtards. There's more people at a bingo game.

Update NYP: “People say they are here for the cause, but the real reason is the free food,” quipped Cameron, 26, of Jersey City. “On my third day, they had smoked salmon with cream cheese. You know how much smoked salmon is a pound? Sixteen dollars. I eat better here than I do with my parents!”

Feds Raid Gibson Guitar Company (Updated & Bumped)

(Original post is below the fold)

CHRIS DANIEL: Mr. Juszkiewicz, did an agent of the US government suggest to you that your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of American labor?

Stuck In The Middle

On the one side of the spectrum, we have Islam infiltrating every aspect of civilized society, demeaning girls and women as second class citizens (not to mention how non-Muslims are viewed) while extolling the imaginary superior virtues of the Muslim male...

muslim woman trash.jpg

And on the other side are these ignorant, liberal progressives who find even a distinction between genders to be sexist. They are creating a world of asexual, gender-confused children, no doubt being bred for their capacity as useful dhimmis.

genderless.png

The choice for women is a position only slightly above livestock or non-existence. For men, its a choice between primitive domination or effeminate submission.

The Neo-Commie Plan to Wreck the Train

Did I mention there is a Neo-Commie in the White House?

Protein Wisdom:

What we’re witnessing is an organized attempt at initiating a soft coup in the United States by way of a socialist cabal. Michael Medved might not like to hear this; Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg likely won’t, either — concerned, as they both are, about the “rightwing” “bash Obama” industry (which isn’t helping “the folks”); Jeb Bush surely doesn’t, if such a revelation means that his standing on stage with Obama in the swing state of FL to burnish his “pragmatic centrist” bona fides then looks like either betrayal of conservative principles, or a real lack of discernment and judgment; and of course, the establishment GOP, who has built its entire political strategy on the idea that Washington is and always will be business as usual (and it is — for them) probably want to skip this as well.

But those of us who met the election of Barack Obama with cries of opposition knew what was coming — all one had to do was bother to look — and we reluctantly pushed the GOP back to power in November to fight the attempt by the left to finish its takeover of our country.

DC Commissioner: Wal-Mart Causes Shoplifting

Wal-Mart's low prices encourages theft and will ultimately ruin young lives...

From The Washington Post:

Brenda Speaks, a Ward 4 ANC commissioner, actually urged blocking construction of the planned store in her ward at Georgia and Missouri avenues NW partly because of that risk. Addressing a small, anti-Wal-Mart rally at City Hall on Monday, Speaks said young people would get criminal records when they couldn't resist the temptation to steal.

Uh-Oh

From TechTalk:

STANFORD, Calif. - President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said here today...Details about the "trusted identity" project are unusually scarce...Schmidt stressed today that anonymity and pseudonymity will remain possible on the Internet. "I don't have to get a credential if I don't want to," he said. There's no chance that "a centralized database will emerge," and "we need the private sector to lead the implementation of this," he said.
Nothing to see here, folks, move along now.

The Food Police Next Target: Potatoes

the_food_police.jpg

To hell with potato growers, Nanny State doesn't want your produce.

Breitbart

GLEED, Wash. (AP) - Potato growers are fighting back against efforts to ban or limit potatoes in federal child nutrition programs, arguing the tuber is loaded with potassium and vitamin C and shouldn't be considered junk food.

One Washington man is so exasperated by the proposals that he's in the midst of a 60-day, all potato diet to demonstrate that potatoes are nutritious.

"We're just really concerned that this is a misconception to the public that potatoes aren't healthy," said Chris Voigt, head of the Washington Potato Commission. "The potato isn't the scourge of the earth. It's nutrition."

Healthy food advocates said they're not anti-potato, but they think children need a greater variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains to fight a tripling of child obesity rates in the past 30 years.

"The potato is the most common vegetable," said Diane Pratt-Heavner, spokeswoman for the School Nutrition Association. "My impression is that the goal is to increase the amounts of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. I don't believe anyone is specifically attacking the potato."

With that in mind, the Institute of Medicine, the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences, recommended that the U.S. Department of Agriculture stop participants of the federal Women, Infants and Children program, known as WIC, from buying potatoes with federal dollars. The institute also called for the USDA-backed school lunch program to limit use of potatoes[...]

At Naches Valley Primary School, which sits in the agricultural hub of central Washington, some 7-year-old students weren't so sure.

"No potatoes?" second-grader Madison Nunley asked incredulously.

"That would be bad." Chimed in schoolmate Leah Marko, "That would be so not cool. I love tater tots."

Indeed Madison & Leah - that would be so not cool.

No Ambulance For You!

A Health Nazi threatens citizens with cut emergency medical services if they don't approve a referendum in November proposing a hefty ambulance fee. The fee would add $300 - $800 per ambulance ride.

I thought Obamacare was supposed to solve all our Healthcare problems?

If voters reject the fee, Ike Leggett extorts:

107 fire and rescue positions, mostly emergency medical service jobs, would be eliminated out of a fire department staff of 1,077.

I guess cutting waste and free handouts instead is too much to ask. Or perhaps stop catering to illegal immigrants. No, 'Ike' wants to cut emergency services.

Something noticeably missing from the article - which political party is Leggett, the heartless Republican or the compassionate Democratic? The article doesn't say. Certainly Leggett's political affiliation would have been in the very first sentence had he carried an "R" by his name.

The article does provide one clue to the party pressing for this new fee:

The Maryland Court of Appeals, in a 5-2 ruling, gave approval for the voter referendum, reversing the decision by local election officials to reject thousands of petition signatures because they didn't exactly match the name used when registering to vote or were illegible.

Hmmm... Now which party is notorious for using fraudulent voter registrations?

But the article does specifically mention the party of one politician opposed to the plan:

"These cuts are designed to maximize the amount of pain that would be felt by them," said Councilman Phil Andrews, D-Gaithersburg/Rockville. "It is a political document. Its goal is to generate support for keeping the ambulance fee by presenting a dire picture for people in the voting booth."

Yes, it is, the Democratic doctrine.

BTW, a little googling reveals Isiah "Ike" Leggett is - a Democrat.

Interesting Take On Obama

Politico

Having moved swiftly toward achieving the very policy objectives he promised voters as a candidate, Obama is still widely perceived as flirting with a failed presidency.

They also give a list of reasons why he is perceived as failing. And to my utter disbelief, the fact that he is half-black wasn't even mention. I mean, come on, he's black....and Kenyan. Heh. Just kidding about the Kenyan thing, but I did hear several times in the last few days that he is black. So obviously it is a big issue for some, like the NAACP (No African American Can Preside). Come on boys, turn your color blinders back on....skin color doesn't shape peoples opinion of policy. Policy shapes people's opinion of policy.

Here is another line I found amusing, actually amusing might be the wrong word. Sad, let's go with Sad.

Obama sees himself as a different kind of Democrat, one who transcends ideology but is basically a centrist. But on the issues voters care most about — the economy, jobs and spending — Obama has shown himself to be a big-government liberal.

Thoughts anyone?

Arizona's Immigration Law: Is Texas Next? (Update)

Liberal headline: "Arizona's anti-immigration[?..ed] law stirs up debate in Texas".

Republican State Rep. Debbie Riddle of Tomball defended her push to introduce a controversial immigration law in Texas similar to that of Arizona's. Riddle has said she plans to introduce the measure in the January legislative session.

"My number one priority as an elected official is to make sure that the safety and security of Texans is well established. If I don't do that or do it well, then there is no number two priority," she said. "The opponents of this want to make it a big racial profiling thing. They want to make it a big racist thing. It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with safety and security."

Indeed, opponents are playing the race card and Obi One is leading the charge
Washington Times.....The most distinctive characteristic, however, is the incitement of racial conflict. Fascism thrives on fomenting ethnic divisions and hatred, targeting internal race enemies to galvanize supporters behind their leader.

This is what Mr. Obama is doing today. He and his Democratic allies have deliberately fanned the flames of racial tensions over Arizona's immigration law.

British Nanny State

(Isle of Anglesey, UK) Peter and Claire Davey, parents of seven children with one on the way and plans for 14 total, are unemployed and live entirely on welfare.

The Daveys subsist in their four-bedroom home, with two cars and a 42-inch wide-screen among other electronic gizmos, on the paltry sum of £42,000 a year in benefits. That's about $65,000.

For some strange reason, the Daveys complain that they deserve more in benefits.

Mrs Davey, who has never had a full-time job, told Closer magazine: "It's hard. We can't afford holidays and I don't want my kids living on a council estate and struggling like I have.

"I don't feel bad about being subsidised by people who are working. I'm just working with the system that's there.

"If the government wants to give me money, I'm happy to take it. We get what we're entitled to. I don't put in anything because I don't pay taxes, but if I could work I would.

"We couldn't afford to care for our children without benefits, but as long as they have everything they need, I don't think I'm selfish."

Mr. Davey said he's better off unemployed than working.

The British government deserves condemnation for turning a population of proud and independent people formerly at the forefront of industry and invention into a parasitic crowd of arrogant beggars.

Standby, Americans, nanny state is coming soon to your neighborhood.

Obama Is Going To Pay For My Gas & Mortgage - Damn Straight, It's Begun

The mortgage part anyway

The Obama administration plans to overhaul how it’s tackling the foreclosure crisis, in part by requiring lenders to temporarily slash or eliminate monthly mortgage payments for many borrowers who are unemployed, senior officials said Thursday.

Banks and other lenders would have to reduce the payments to no more than 31 percent of a borrower’s income, which would typically be their unemployment insurance, for up to six months. In some cases, administration officials said, a lender could allow a borrower to make no payments at all.

Ha! Be sure to read it all.

With non-festive apologies to Clement Clarke Moore.

‘Twas the eve of state health care, and all through the House
The bill was unread, even by the head louse.
The statists hung ’round with a faux-festive air,
Hoping their awful “dream” would indeed soon be there.

obama-white coats.jpgThe USA’s children were snug in their beds,
Unaware of the pain being laid on their heads.
Everyday people opposed to this crap,
Wondered when or if D.C.’s hypnosis would snap.

When out from O’s House there arose such a clatter,
‘Twas the President’s flacks and their usual chatter.
They showed docs in white coats supporting this trash,
nancy pelosi healthcare.jpg
Using children as props as they threw around cash.

The Speaker stood forth for her part in the show,
“It will be when we pass it that you’ll get to know,
The wonders we’re bringing that statists will cheer,
Creating more wards who’ll elect us for years.” Rest...

Depend On Ocean/Inland Fishing For A Living/Tourism? Sorry Sez Obama NOAA & WWF & IFAW

Your input is no longer accepted, love Obi One

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is "fluid" and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn't issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters.

That's a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

"When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario," said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano.

"Now we see NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the administration planning the future of recreational fishing access in America based on a similar agenda of these same groups and other Big Green anti-use organizations, through an Executive Order by the President. The current U.S. direction with fishing is a direct parallel to what happened in Canada with hunting: The negative economic impacts on hard working American families and small businesses are being ignored.

Ya, that will really help save/create jobs by destroying them.

While You Are Distracted by the Summit, Obama Democrats Are Targeting the CIA

(Changed my title, this is too important to ignore)

While everyone is focused on the Obamacare summit, dirty deeds are being done.[NRO]

The Obama Democrats have outdone themselves.

While the country and the Congress have their eyes on today’s dog-and-pony show on socialized medicine, House Democrats last night stashed a new provision in the intelligence bill which is to be voted on today. It is an attack on the CIA: the enactment of a criminal statute that would ban “cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.” (See here, scoll to p. 32.)

h/t Doug and Robert

More:

Keep America Safe

Today, Liz Cheney, the chairman of Keep America Safe, released the following statement on behalf of the organization and in response to a late-night provision added to the intelligence authorization bill in the House of Representatives. The bill is scheduled for a vote later this afternoon. It is currently being debated in the House, click here to watch Rep. Pete Hoekstra talk about the dangerous provision: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aFP5_4g7LU.[video below...ed]

"Late last night, Democrats in the House of Representatives inserted a provision dubbed “The Cruel, Inhuman, and Degrading Interrogation Act of 2010” into the intelligence authorization bill. This new language targets the US intelligence community with criminal penalties for using methods they have deemed necessary for keeping America safe. These methods have further been found by the Department of Justice to be both legal and in keeping with our international obligations. more...

Senate Democrats To You: Eff Off And Die

Obamacare by next Thursday?

So just how close are we to being inflicted with the Obama/Moore dream of anti-capitalist, competition-free, government-run health care? Closer than many realize. Multiple sources on the Hill have told The Foundry that as early as next week, the Senate could be debating Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Reid has stated an intention to take the HELP Committee product and merge it with the Senate Finance Committee markup that is expected to be over by this Thursday or Friday. Their plan is to proceed to a House passed non-health care bill to provide a shell of legislation to give Obamacare a ride to the House and then straight to the President’s desk.

Emphasis mine.

Gee, isn't that fantastic? Just attach your smelly piece of crap bill to one nobody's paying any attention to in the House and viola*! Obamacare!

Editorial Pwnage Of The Highest Order.

Brought to you by Foud Ajami in the Wall Street Journal. Ouch, O-bots, this is going to hurt.

All this hero-worship before Mr. Obama met his first test of leadership. In reality, he was who he was, a Chicago politician who had done well by his opposition to the Iraq war. He had run a skillful campaign, and had met a Clinton machine that had run out of tricks and a McCain campaign that never understood the nature of the contest of 2008.

He was no FDR, and besides the history of the depression—the real history—bears little resemblance to the received narrative of the nation instantly rescued, in the course of 100 days or 200 days, by an interventionist state. The economic distress had been so deep and relentless that FDR began his second term, in 1937, with the economy still in the grip of recession.

Nor was JFK about style. He had known military service and combat, and familial loss; he had run in 1960 as a hawk committed to the nation's victory in the Cold War. He and his rival, Richard Nixon, shared a fundamental outlook on American power and its burdens.

Now that realism about Mr. Obama has begun to sink in, these iconic figures of history had best be left alone. They can't rescue the Obama presidency. Their magic can't be his. Mr. Obama isn't Lincoln with a BlackBerry. Those great personages are made by history, in the course of history, and not by the spinners or the smitten talking heads.
