Boys as young as 12 are being used by the Taliban to plant bombs designed to kill and maim British troops in Afghanistan.

Army commanders say insurgents are forcing children to lay improvised explosive devices (IEDs) because they know they will not be shot by British snipers.[...]

A senior Army source said: ‘The Taliban know that if they get caught in the sights of our snipers, they don’t last long, so they have resorted to hiding behind compound walls and directing children to plant bombs for them.

‘Lots of home-made IEDs detonate before they have even been laid, but the Taliban don’t seem to care whether a child gets killed or maimed. Some boys are as young as 12.’

Surgeon Lieutenant Colonel Jedge Lewin, 41, the Household Cavalry Battle Group’s doctor, said: ‘In the past few days alone, we have had five cases of children who have been exposed to blasts causing severe damage to, or loss of, hands and fingers.

‘Children can pick up devices when they are playing or handle detonators when forced to plant the bombs. This is a cowardly Taliban tactic and when children are suffering the consequences, it’s particularly sickening.’

Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Because of the threats posed by the powerful Lahore Bar Association – an umbrella organization of city lawyers - no Christian or Muslim lawyer is ready to take on the defence in the murder of 12 year-old Shazia Bashir, it was reported yesterday by The Pakistani Christian association that deals with legal assistance.

The girl, of Christian faith, died on Jan. 23 as a result of violence - even sexual – at the hands of her employer, a wealthy and powerful Muslim lawyer in Lahore. The alleged murderess, Chaudhry Mohammad Naeem, is a former president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. The girl, just 12 years old, had worked as a maid in the home of Naeem in the last six months.

The Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS) denounces that access to the courtroom where the court hearings were held against the accused was denied, because a group of Muslim lawyers (pictured) 'prevented' entry. The association is fighting - for free - for the rights of the poorest and marginalized groups has been threatened by thousands of lawyers - friends of the murderer - that promise to burn alive anyone who wants to represent the victim in court. "

A seven-year-old Pakistani girl and her family have been given asylum in Canada after reports the child was raped and left to die when her Christian father refused to convert to Islam.

The identities of Baby Neeha and her family are being protected by immigration officials, said human rights lawyer Chantal Desloges and One Free World International, a church that was instrumental in getting the family here[...]

Baby Neeha, at the age of 21/2, was raped by the son of her father's employer and left to die by the roadside, he said. No one was arrested for the crime.

"These horrific events took place because her father, who was Christian, refused to give in to pressure from his Muslim employer to convert to Islam," El Shafie said.

I was reading some background info on Anwar Al-Aulaqi, the Yemeni-American Al-Qaeda cleric that was corresponding with Ft Hood killer Maj. Nidal Hasan, and remembered something curious I saw several years ago. It took me a while to track it down, but a 2004 article in US News and World Report on Al-Aulaqi provided this curious tidbit about the "imam":

The probe of the 9/11 attacks soon led Washington FBI agents back to San Diego, where they found that al-Awlaki had twice been busted for soliciting prostitutes in 1996 and 1997 but had avoided jail time. Al-Awlaki has previously described these charges as "bogus." But FBI agents hoped al-Awlaki might cooperate with the 9/11 probe if they could nab him on similar charges in Virginia. FBI sources say agents observed the imam allegedly taking Washington-area prostitutes into Virginia and contemplated using a federal statute usually reserved for nabbing pimps who transport prostitutes across state lines. But in March 2002, al-Awlaki abruptly left the country for Yemen. "When he left town, it was as if the air went out of the balloon," says one FBI source. Al-Awlaki briefly returned to the United States in October 2002, but federal authorities did not have sufficient cause to detain him, even though his name popped up on a terrorist "lookout" database. Now he's back in the Middle East, where FBI agents are said to be keeping their eyes on him.

That's right, just like Nidal Hasan frequenting strip clubs, the Al-Qaeda imam has a taste for infidel whores.

MARIETTA, Ga. — Nine homeless sex offenders directed to live in the woods behind a suburban Atlanta office park have been ordered to move and are scrambling to find new places to go.

The sex offenders were searching for a new place to set up their tents Tuesday after state authorities told them they had to leave the area.

They had been directed to the spot by probation officers who said it was a location of last resort for the sex offenders barred from living in many areas by one of the nation's toughest sex offender policies.

As a father, my location of last resort would have been a firing squad, but that's just me.

(Carbon County, Utah) A 28-year-old special education teacher at Helper Junior High School, Melissa Ann Andreini, faces unlawful sexual activity charges stemming from an alleged relationship with a 15-year-old male student.

Astonishingly, Andreini allegedly paid the boy about $500 for each of three sexual encounters. It's not clear whether the payment was for services performed or for the boy to keep quiet. Either way, the boy is being taught a rather distorted view of what his life will be like when he grows up. Women generally don't pay men for sex.

By the way, there's an equally astonishing report out of Michigan where a 32-year-old [name withheld] woman mixed it up with her 12-year-old adopted brother and bore a daughter who now has a daddy who is also her uncle or step-uncle or something.

The [name withheld] woman is scheduled to be sentenced in October.

(Columbia, Tennessee) A 26-year-old woman, Rebecca Bargy, restrained her husband to a chair with duct tape, used a gag and a blindfold and then went to a motel for 20 hours of uninterrupted sex with a man she met over the Internet. Her husband, James Bargy, died from suffocation.

This week, Rebecca Bargy was sentenced to 18 months in jail. The court decided that she didn't intend for her husband to die. Nevertheless, one can only imagine the slow, painful death James Bargy experienced. More in extended entry.

(Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) In babysitter news, a 34-year-old woman, Tracy Vasholz, was sentenced to four to eight years in prison for raping a boy she was caring for more than 10 years, starting at the age of five.

(College Station, Texas) In Don't-Mess-With-Texas news, a 47-year-old woman, Laura Lee Cole, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexual assaults on two teen boys.

(Mesa, Arizona) In same-sex student-teacher news, a 26-year-old special needs teacher, Elizabeth Claire Livesay, was sentenced to four months in jail for sexual conduct with a 16-year-old girl throughout the summer of 2008.

Although anecdotal, the four instances illustrate that the American justice system is largely unpredictable with regard to punishment imposed on women with sex troubles.

In Idaho, a state court has ruled that it is illegal for a middle school teaching assistant, Meagan Belnap, to position an ice cream cone on her lap and have the students come forward and lick it.

In Georgia, the state Supreme Court ruled that teacher-student sex is legal in the appeal of the conviction of Melissa Chase, teacher and coach, who mixed it up with a 16-year-old girl.

In Texas, a dance teacher and Mexican citizen, Sandra Borrego, was sentenced to probation for conviction on 22 counts of child sex assault of a 13-year-old boy in the school cafeteria.

(Corpus Christi, Texas) Former dance teacher Sandra Borrego (pic), now 43, pleaded guilty yesterday to 22 counts of sexual assault of a child stemming from engaging in repeated sex with a 13-year-old boy.

In accordance with a plea agreement with the prosecution, Borrego was sentenced to probation -- 10 years of deferred adjudicated probation. Deferred adjuducated probation means that if she follows the terms of her probation, her case will be dismissed. Borrego also must serve 180 days in jail, pay $1,000 fine and pay $3,000 to a victims fund.

The determination of paternity for the child born to Borrego will not be revealed since the court sealed the result of the DNA tests. So, whether the 13-year-old is a father or not will not be made public. In any event, Borrego may be deported since she is a Mexican citizen currently living legally in the U.S.

The boy said he had sex with Ms. Borrego (pic) about 20 to 30 times in the school's cafeteria and at her home.

The alleged intimate episodes occurred in late 2006, suspiciously about the same time that Borrego became pregnant. In 2007, Borrego gave birth to a daughter and it was suspected that the 13-year-old was the father. Authorities ordered a paternity test.

This week it was reported that the DNA test results have been received by the Nueces County Prosecutor, however, they haven't been made public since Borrego's case is pending.

Nonetheless, it appears that the DNA results may, in fact, be evidence of culpability since Borrego was indicted Thursday on 22 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Borrego's daughter is now about nine months old.

After striking a deal with the prosecution, 36-year-old former exotic dancer and teacher's aide Abbie Jane Swogger pleaded guilty today to multiple charges.

As a result, she was sentenced to three to six years in prison and 36 years of probation.

Swogger told the court that she was sorry.

Abbie Jane Swogger faces multiple charges related to allegedly organizing drug and sex parties with high school kids. See the whole story including Swogger pic.

(Tampa, Florida) The imam of Masjid Omar Al Mukhtar mosque, Yasser (aka Yaser) Mohamed Shahade, 35, has been arrested by Tampa Police for the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. The alleged sex reportedly occurred inside the mosque during a sleepover and the boy's younger brother may also have been sexually assaulted.

Shahade is an Egyptian who arrived two months ago to become the mosque's full-time imam.

The alleged victim's father actively supported bringing Shahade, his wife and two daughters to Florida when the mosque needed a leader. Although no background check was performed, Shahade appeared qualified.

Shahade has been charged with sexual battery. He was booked into custody at the Falkenburg Road Jail without bail. Since he is an Egyptian citizen in the U.S., immigration officials have been notified. (more)

(Anderson, California) A 30-year-old local woman, Deborah Lee Towe (aka Deborah Stoneberger), was arrested this week for allegedly committing sexual acts with three teen boys, one in the parking lot at school, one in the parking lot at Wal-Mart, and one at her home. Towe is in custody with bail set at $250,000.

Also reported, a 23-year-old assistant softball coach at Payson (Utah) High School, McKell Shurtliff, was arrested last week for allegedly engaging in multiple sex acts with a 15-year-old girl, one of her players.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Oklahoma teacher, Stephanie Diane Harris, is scheduled to stand trial in August for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old boy who she reportedly lured via text message. Harris allegedly sent the boy nude pictures of herself via text messaging.

Obama bowing to the king may be a signal to the Saudis he approves. He should think twice before doing that again, although the harm has already been done.

(CNN) -- The head of the U.N. Children's Fund has expressed concern over a Saudi judge's refusal for a second time to annul a marriage between an 8-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man.

"Irrespective of circumstances or the legal framework, the marriage of a child is a violation of that child's rights," said Ann Veneman, executive director of UNICEF.

"The right to free and full consent to marriage is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Consent cannot be free and full when either party to a marriage is too young to make an informed decision."

The most recent ruling, in which the judge upheld his original verdict, was handed down Saturday in the Saudi city of Onaiza, where late last year the same judge rejected a petition from the girl's mother, seeking a divorce for her daughter

(Gardnerville, Nevada) Nineteen-year-old Heather Ann Grizoffi pleaded guilty to sexual seduction of a 14-year-old boy yesterday in Douglas County District Court.

As a result, Grizoffi was sentenced by Judge Michael Gibbons to 10 days in jail and fined $1,000. Then she was given credit for 10 days served when she was originally arrested.

Although she won't be spending time in jail, she was ordered to register as a sex offender which will likely be punishing her for a long time.

A massive child sex ring has been smashed in the Kimberley region of northwestern Australia. Reportedly, young girls would get hooked on cigarettes and old men, many community leaders, instituted a cigarettes-for-sex culture.

Authorities have spent two years investigating and prosecuting scores of child sex cases and, since the whole culture in the region was corrupted, law enforcement efforts continue.

The stories of female teachers and other educators having sex with students have become commonplace with probably more than 100 websites devoting time reporting and following the individual cases.

We've seen instances of female teachers having sex with not only one student but many. I recall one case where a female teacher mixed it up with five grade school boys and another one where the teacher did the school baseball team. Female teachers have even kidnapped students and fled to parts unknown including Mexico. Same-sex offenses are noticeable but the majority are heterosexual.

In any event, the latest twist in the soap opera world of teacher-student sex stories would be the adventures of a 13-year-old junior high school boy in Utah who was allegedly forced into sex by TWO of his female teachers, both 30-something. And, as astonishing as it seems, neither teacher was aware of the other.

Here, Cedric Bradshaw is a pedophile and a dumbass. When he was 19 he had sex with a 15 year-old. But he served his time and was released, subject to sex offender registry. He then was imprisoned for six months when he gave an invalid address on his first registration. After that, he had to move twice when it turned out the family members he was living with (a sister then an aunt) lived too close to areas where children were likely to be. He finally found a place, but transposed two numbers in the address. He also failed to move into the new place within 72 hours. He was caught and prosecuted for failure to properly register as a sex offender. The trial judge ruled that he had no discretion to do anything other than sentence Bradshaw to life imprisonment. The case is currently before the Georgia Supreme Court.

There certainly is be a case to be made for punishing consensual teenage sex, but for a person in this guy's shoes to be facing life imprisonment is stupid and ridiculous.

This is particularly true given the likelihood that a female in the same situation wouldn't even be facing charges.

(Puyallup, Washington) After pleading guilty to raping and molesting a 15-year-old girl, 40-year-old junior high school counselor Diane Amanda Hillman was sentenced in Pierce County Superior Court to five years in state prison. Hillman had asked Judge Lisa Worswick for extensive sex offender treatment rather than prison. The judge denied the request.

Hillman's lawyer, Zenon Olbertz, indicated that Hillman suffers from mental health problems and needed treatment, not prison. Personally, I reject the idea that mental health issues lead to child rape which is what the lawyer implied.

Interestingly, there seem to be more instances of lesbian child molesters being prosecuted than in the past. As I recall, it was an extreme rarity just a few decades ago.

(Somerville, New Jersey) A 40-year-old phys ed teacher and coach, Pamela Balogh, was sentenced yesterday to seven years in state prison for sexually molesting a 15-year-old girl at a Catholic high school. She was convicted last December.

Balogh had rejected a plea deal which would have sent her to the slammer for 10 years. She benefitted by going to trial.

Arguably, it seems that there is a disproportionately high percentage of lesbians in the athletic/coaching realm as compared to the general population.

A 29-year-old Texas mom, Shauntel Mayo, was sentenced to life in prison for operating a money-making club featuring sexual performance by children, even her children.

Mayo's boyfriend, 36-year-old Jamie Pittman, was sentenced for the same crimes and also got life in prison.

Interestingly, both Mayo and Pittmen were found guilty by different juries that deliberated for a total combined time of less than 16 minutes. Hell, I've had to wait longer than that for a pizza.

As a regular news consumer, I'm usually not surprised by cultural eccentricities in society, however, this week has produced two stories that have me shaking my head.

1) First, there's the reported case in Tennessee where a woman, Rebecca Bargy (pic), allegedly kills her 29-year-old husband, James Bargy, during a sex ritual.

According to the arrest warrant, 25-year-old Rebecca Bargy placed duct tape over James Bargy's mouth and eyes, put a ball gag in his mouth and then tied a bandage around his head, leaving only his nostrils showing.

She also tied his hands and legs behind his back.

Well, it turns out that the sex part happens when Rebecca Bargy leaves her husband bound and gagged and goes to a motel, meets a man and has continuous sex with him for nearly an entire calendar day. That's the sex part. He gets tied up, she has sex. Some ritual, eh?

After 20 hours, Rebecca returns and, unfortunately, finds James dead. Presumably, he wasn't supposed to die. Rather, on Rebecca's return he was likely supposed to be told the enjoyable details of the sex part of the sex ritual -- I guess. Hell, I don't know. None of this sex ritual makes a lick of sense to me.

In any event, after James was found, authorities were notified and Maury County Sheriff's deputies arrested Rebecca for reckless homicide. She was booked into the Maury County Jail without bond.

2) The second story involved the CNN celebrity guy, Richard Quest, prancing around Central Park in NYC at three o'clock in the morning with a rope tied to his genitals. See earlier entries here and here and if you can explain what was going on, please leave a comment. Previously, I would have wagered a paycheck that the words "rope" and "genitals" would never appear in the same sentence, at least not one written by me.

In conclusion, I have no idea what to think about these two stories.

(Tampa, Florida) I swear, former-teacher Debra Lafave is like kryptonite to the justice system's super powers.

To refresh memories, Lafave was tagged for mixing it up with a schoolboy and probation violations. The most she's been given is house arrest and today Judge J. Rogers Padgett cut the remaining time that Lafave must serve on house arrest from seven months to three and a half.

Apparently, it was reports of good behavior that prompted the judge to give 27-year-old Lafave a break.

Nevertheless, neither the victim's family nor the prosecutor is thrilled. There is a general belief that Lafave has been treated with pronounced leniency by the courts.

Be on the lookout for 41-year-old mother-of-two Becky Jo Tatum (pic) of Bexley. She is being sought by police in Franklin County for unlawful sex with a young teen girl. Tatum is six feet tall, weighs 145 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.

According to police, Tatum hoovered a 14-year-old girl in the bedroom of her house.

Tatum is also sought for questioning regarding sex with a 17-year-old boy. More.

Convicted and sentenced to prison for molesting a 13-year-old boy, Rogers has some cell time behind her and now she wants out after completing less than one-fourth of her term.

Apparently, prison doesn't agree with gorgeous Pamela Rogers.

As a reminder:

- In August 2005, 28-year-old Pamela Rogers was sentenced to a lenient nine months in jail for engaging in sex with a 13-year-old student.

- In February 2006, Rogers was released on probation after six months in jail.

- In April 2006, Rogers was arrested for violating her probation by contacting her victim. She was released on bail.

- Later in April 2006, Rogers was arrested again for violating her probation by sending sexually explicit videos to her victim by cameraphone. Bail was denied.

- In July 2006, Rogers was sent to prison to serve a term of seven years.

A final decision by the parole board is expected in the "coming weeks."

The suspect in Reno, Nevada teen Brianna Denison, who was abducted Jan. 20th from a campus area home, may possible be in that backlog.

The State required in October 07 that all cases require DNA processing be entered in a data bank, but didn't fund it!

Bernie Anderson D Sparks, NV. sponsored the bill and Shelia Leslie D Reno, NV. stated "it was important the bill was passed... "the State will find a way to pay for it somehow."

That is outrageous. Harry Reid appears to more interested in defunding the war than protecting the victims of horrendous crimes. Governor Jim Gibbons, would probably like to hear from you too!

So far $93,000 has been pledged from the gaming community. Another $62,000 has been raised through the community. God Bless them! Another $150,000 is still needed.

(Biloxi, Mississippi) The 1996 Shrimp Bowl Queen and science teacher, Rebecca Bogard, was arrested last Friday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old male student.

(Northern Ireland) Two homosexual men have been convicted in Reading Crown Court of molesting a young boy, starting when he was an infant and lasting until he was four and one-half years old.

A mannequin-dresser, 34-year-old James Rae (pic) and 39-year-old Alan Howitt, a former soldier, persuaded a female friend to allow them to babysit her son. The men were found guilty of repeated sex crimes against the boy.

Judge Christopher Critchlow heard last week that Howitt and Rae, lovers for more than 10 years, repeatedly sexually abused the tot over a four-year period - simulating sex acts with him and forcing him to have oral sex while he slept.

They photographed some of the assaults and one act filmed on video was described by the judge as "about as bad an example as there could be" of an indecent attack on a child.

The pair, who have since ended their relationship, stood side-by-side in the dock to be sentenced for offences against the boy, now aged seven.

In June last year Howitt admitted possessing and making indecent images of children, and four counts of indecent assault.

Rae was convicted of the same four sexual assault charges on the boy between the age of six months and when he was four-and-a-half.

(Hartford, Michigan) In June 2007, two former foster parents and same-sex couple, Kurt Alfred Amundson, 42, and Robert George Shafer, 43, were indicted by a federal grand jury for alleged sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.

Both were charged with exploiting a child by producing images of a young boy engaged in sexually explicit conduct. It seems the boy, described as under 13 years old, was a foster child of Amundson and Shafer.

In the latest development, both Amundson and Shafer have pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids to producing images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Investigators found several images of child pornography, including images of a child befriended by the two men, on computers, cameras, CDs and floppy disks seized from the Hartford men's residence in June 2006, according to a news release.

Authorities said the two were licensed as foster-care providers and were in the process of adopting a child for whom they were serving as foster parents. The foster child and the child befriended by the two men alleged that Shafer and Amundson sexually assaulted them, according to the news release.

When asked about his role as a same-sex foster parent he said mentoring children was not satisfying enough for him.

"It was helpful, but I wanted to carry the relationship beyond that," he said in the article.

Shafer and Amundson are scheduled to be sentenced, respectively, in October and November. They each face a mandatory minimum 15 years in prison with a maximum 30 years. Fines of up to $250,000 are also possible.

(Oxford, England) So far, this is the worst case of "blame the victim" I have seen.

A 25-year-old window cleaner, Keith Fenn, will be released after four months in jail for twice raping a 10-year-old girl.

Judge Julian Hall sentenced Fenn the rapist to two years but only four months remain after being given credit for time served.

Judge Julian Hall decided to be lenient because the girl "didn't look 10."

He caused fury earlier this year by freeing another paedophile, telling him to buy his six-year-old victim a new bicycle.

The judge referred to the 10-year-old as a "young woman," and called her "very disturbed, very needy and sexually precocious."

He told Oxford Crown Court: "She liked to dress provocatively."

(Cannes, France) About two years ago, a man died from engaging in sex with a horse at a farm in the state of Washington. The farm was found to be a gathering place for livestock lovers and the story garnered significant interest. In fact, there was enough interest that independent filmmaker Robinson Devor made a movie which has now been previewed at the Cannes Film Festival.

Called Zoo, the film envelops the story of bestiality in "rich photography that gives it a dreamlike beauty."

Many reviews have been favourable to the approach taken by Devor and his team.

"They've crafted a subdued, mysterious and intensely beautiful film that presents bestiality not for the purpose of titillation?but as a way of investigating the subjective nature of morality," the movie trade magazine Variety wrote.

(New York City) Veteran readers of The Jawa Report may remember 40-year-old Manhattan Montessori School teacher Lina Sinha who was accused in 2005 of molesting schoolboys. Last month, Sinha was convicted by a jury on felony counts of sodomy and witness bribery. Finally, a conclusion has been reached in the case.

Today, Justice Carol Berkman of State Supreme Court in Manhattan sentenced Sinha to four and two-thirds to 14 years in prison.

Notably, Justice Berkman remarked that Sinha grew up in an environment of privilege which introduced her to many options in life. Sinha was "well-raised" and "beautiful." Disturbingly, however, she used her education, sophistication and superior position to violate the boy's sexual innocence and abuse their trust and that of society. For all this, Justice Berkman believes Ms. Sinha is "all the more culpable."

I'd suggest that if Lina Sinha carries "airs" about her when she enters the big house, she is going to have trouble.

A gang of serial rapists has been prowling the north, raping Jewish women as revenge for IDF actions in the territories, police revealed Tuesday after arresting six suspects believed to be involved in the series of brutal rapes.

"We are raping Jews because of what IDF is doing to the Palestinians in the territories," one of the six suspects told investigators from the Northern District CIU during questioning. During their questioning and their brief appearance at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court Tuesday, none of the four main suspects indicated that they felt remorse as to their actions.

Police said that they were aware of four attacks carried out by the gang, but that they believed that there were probably other incidents that had gone unreported by the victims.

ABCNEWS Via Stop The ACLU: Federal agents arrested Charles Rust-Tierney, the former president of the Virginia chapter of the ACLU, Friday in Arlington for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by ABC News, Rust-Tierney allegedly used his e-mail address and credit card to subscribe to and access a child pornography website.
