Fox31 Denver reports:

DENVER — Investigators looking into the shooting death of the director of the Colorado Department of Corrections will look at the possibility that Tom Clements' murder may be tied to the recent decision not to grant a transfer of a Saudi man in a Colorado prison.

Homaidan Al-Turki was convicted in 2006 of unlawful sexual contact by use of force and other charges. Prosecutors said he sexually assaulted a housekeeper and kept her as a virtual slave for four years.

His conviction angered Saudi officials. The U.S. State Department sent Colorado Attorney General John Suthers to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan and Al-Turki’s family.

Last week, Colorado prison officials denied a request from the Saudi Arabian government to release Al-Turki to his home country to serve his life sentence.

Prosecutors opposed Al-Turki's transfer fearing he would be released upon return to Saudi Arabia.

Celments was the one who decided to deny the transfer. He wrote in a letter to Al-Turki that because Al-Turki refused to undergo sex offender treatment in prison, "I have decided not to support your request for transfer to Saudi Arabia at this time," reported the Associated Press.

Under Islamic law, keeping a sex slave is not a crime. This means Al-Turki would likely be freed once on Saudi soil.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Nassir Al Barrak, reputed for his radical views, described western-style elections as an alien phenomenon to Islamic countries.

“Electing a president or another form of leadership or council members is prohibited in Islam as it has been introduced by the enemies of Moslems,” he wrote on his Twitter page, according to Saudi newspapers.

“Selecting an Imam (leader) must be up to the decision-making people not the public…election is a corrupt system which is not based on any legal or logical concept for those who enforce this system by some Moslems…this system has been brought by the anti-Islam parties who have occupied Moslem land.”

The shocking results of a so-called "scientific" report written by scholars of the Majlis al-Ifta' al-A'ala, Saudi Arabia's highest religious council, in collaboration with a former King Fahd University professor said allowing Saudi women to drive would lead to a scarcity of virgins and cause more Saudis - both men and women - turn to homosexuality and pornography.[...]

The scholars claimed that within ten years of lifting the ban, there would be "no more virgins" in the Wahhabite kingdom.

Before you dismiss the study as utter, chauvinistic rubbish, you should be aware of this very scientific evidence which apparently proves the point:

In the report, Professor Kamal Subhi exemplified the point by describing what he experienced while sitting in a coffee shop in an unnamed Arab state.

"All the women were looking at me," he wrote. "One made a gesture that made it clear she was available... this is what happens when women are allowed to drive," he concluded.

I was once sitting at my computer desk reading blogs online. There was a study about benefits of keeping women subjugated and the dangers of giving them even the slightest amount of freedom. This is what happens when primitive neanderthals are allowed to post on the internet.

Following the death of Saudi Crown Prince Sultan on Oct 22, King Abdullah appointed Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Interior Minister since 1975, as Crown Prince and next in line to the throne.

Prince Nayef is best known in the US for spear heading the crack down on al Qaeda that drove many terrorists to find refuge in Yemen. The ramped up Saudi CT posture after 2003 included mass arrests (including detention without trial and torture), a multi-pronged jihaddi rehabilitation program, increased security measures including a border fence with Yemen. A media campaign designed to shame al Qaeda included televised condemnations from the terrorists' families that increased social pressure.

Nayef's successes against AQ prompted Yemen's AQAP to target him for assassination during a feigned surrender in Aug 09. Nayef suffered only light injuries from a PETN bomb designed by Ibrahim al Asiri (still at large in Yemen), whose brother was the suicide bomber.

Nayef is also known as a "conservative," and in Saudi Arabia that means thwarting popular efforts toward civil rights and governmental accountability. Nayef is a strong supporter of the supremacist, takfiri Wahabbi doctrine and infrastructure. Domestically he undercut efforts at incremental reforms, including women driving or voting, as well as the continued repression of Saudi Shia's demands for equal rights.

Nayef served as the de facto head of Saudi Arabia when both the King and Prince Sultan faced medical issues over the last years. Nayef signed off on the deployment of the Saudi military to Bahrain to augment efforts the violent crack down on Bahrain's Arab Spring (and its Shia majority.)

In Yemen, Saudi Arabia overtly committed substantial war crimes during the Saada War, which was fought near the Yemen/Saudi border. The kingdom provided billions of dollars to President Saleh, and Saudi fighter jets conducted months of air strikes in Yemen, aimed at the annihilation of the Shia Houthi rebels.

These well documented of Saudi violations of international law include indiscriminately bombing villages and civilian infrastructure, denying border passage for humanitarian aid and returning Yemeni refugees to the war zone (refouling).

Wikileaks cables reveals that the Saudis were well aware that Saudi airstrikes in Yemen caused substantial civilian fatalities, and successfully leveraged the bombing of a Yemeni hospital and other mistakes to obtain satellite imagery from the US. The Saudi's aggressive posture toward the Houthis was largely fueled by fear of its own repressed Shia minority.

Earlier this year, Nayef and his son assumed control over Saudi Arabia's patronage network in Yemen, through which the kingdom distributes billions in direct payments to Yemeni Sheikhs, clerics and politicians as well as Wahabbi institutes and organizations.

Nayef has strong support among Saudi Arabia's Wahhabi clerics. But he is said to have little sympathy for political Islamist groups, like the Muslim Brotherhood, which he views as a threat to the ruling family's grip on power...In the run-up to Saudi Arabia's 2005 municipal elections, it was Nayef who decided that women should not be allowed to vote. Scholars say he may pursue policies that expand his base of support within security services and Islamist groups.

Saudi Arabia has started to try 85 alleged members of an Al-Qaeda-linked cell which attacked three housing compounds for foreigners in the capital Riyadh in 2003, local newspapers reported on Monday.

The attacks, which took place on a single night, killed 20 people according to Saudi Arabia's official news agency, and marked the start of a violent al Qaeda campaign that included plots against military bases, foreigners and industrial and energy facilities between 2003 to 2006.

A spokesman from the Justice Ministry did not respond to calls or messages for comment about the trial.

Saudi Arabia, the world's number one oil exporter, eventually ended the Al-Qaeda campaign after arresting thousands of people suspected of aiding militants, and enlisting senior Saudi clerics to denounce Osama bin Laden's network as un-Islamic.

Those on trial are said to belong to the Dandani cell, named after Turki al-Dandani who was killed in a shoot-out with security forces in 2003, and are accused of killing and wounding 239 people in attacks on the compounds and other targets.

How bad is it in Saudi Arabia? Back in April the Saudis claimed they had arrested 11,527 for terror involvement since Sept. 11th.

That's a country with a population the roughly the size of Texas with over 11,000 people arrested for terror ties in the past ten years. That's approximately 1,000 terrorists a year from a single country.

Al-Qaeda member Khalid Hathal Abdullah Al-Atifi Al-Qahtani, number 13 on a list of Saudi Arabians wanted abroad, turned himself in to Saudi authorities, a Ministry of Interior spokesperson told Al Arabiya.

The spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki told the Saudi Press Agency “Al-Qahtani contacted security agencies expressing his desire to return to the Kingdom and surrender himself to authorities.”

He is thought to be the first operative to turn himself in after the killing of Osama Bin Laden by US Special Forces on Sunday in Pakistan.

The Secretary of State has designated al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) operative and bomb maker Ibrahim Hassan Tali al-Asiri under E.O. 13224, which targets terrorists and their supporters. This action will help stem the flow of finances to al-Asiri by blocking all property subject to U.S. jurisdiction in which al-Asiri has an interest and prohibiting all transactions by U.S. persons with al-Asiri. AQAP has previously been designated by the United States under Executive Order 13224 and as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Al-Asiri is an AQAP operative and serves as the terrorist organization’s primary bomb maker. Before joining AQAP, al-Asiri was part of an al-Qa’ida affiliated terrorist cell in Saudi Arabia and was involved in planned bombings of oil facilities in the Kingdom.

Al-Asiri gained particular notoriety for the recruitment of his younger brother as a suicide bomber in a failed assassination attempt of Saudi Prince Muhammed bin Nayif. Although the assassination attempt failed, the brutality, novelty and sophistication of the plot is illustrative of the threat posed by al-Asiri. Al-Asiri is credited with designing the remotely detonated device, which contained one pound of explosives concealed inside his *brother’s body.[Emphasis mine..ed]

Al-Asiri is currently wanted by the Government of Saudi Arabia. In addition, Interpol has published an Orange Notice warning the public about the threat posed by him.

To All Concerned, In conjunction with the Human Chain Project, I have launched a Facebook page titled Valentines for the Voiceless. The concept is very simple. Create Valentine's Day eCards on behalf of political prisoners and regime victims in Iran from images available online. I am now in the process of linking bios, awards, remembrances and petitions to each image in the V for V eCard image album, be they the dead Neda Soltan or the living Jafar Panahi. That I can do. I have already done so for Du'a Khalid Aswad, a young Kurdish girl who was executed by stoning on April 7, 2007 for the crime of dating a boy not a Muslim. It was an horrific death, as you might imagine.

But I did not create the V for V profile heart image of Du'a. It already existed online. Sad fact is, I am an old school writer who just traded in his Underwood for a PC. MS Office is about it for me. I couldn't Photoshop to save my life, and I HATE all this geeky tween social networking crap! I only do it for the greater cause of Iranian freedom, which would help us all sleep better at night. Indonesian Minister of Labour Muhaimin Iskandar said on Friday an embassy team was dispatched to the Saudi town of Abha to look into allegations the 36-year-old maid, Kikim Komalasari, had been killed by her bosses.

"Imagine if all the Jews gave up and left Israel tomorrow and decided to all go live in Malibu," Boteach added. "Would homosexuals in the Middle East still be killed? Would there still be honor killings of a sister by her brother? Would Christian churches suddenly open in Saudi Arabia? Would the Taliban suddenly have multistate meetings? King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has issued a decree stating only senior clerics are permitted to issue fatwas, or Islamic religious edicts, the official SPA news agency says.

It cited the text of the decree as saying for the time being, only members of the Council of Senior Ulema (scholars) will be allowed to issue fatwas.

The ruling comes during the first week of Ramadan, the holy fasting month for Muslims worldwide.

In the decree, the Saudi monarch also asks the grand mufti, who heads the council, to submit a list of others who are qualified to issue fatwas.

The limitation is necessary because many individuals have started superceding the authority of official religious bodies and issued fatwas that cause disputes and dissent among Muslims, the decree said on Thursday.

Al-Qaeda urged soldiers to help topple the Saudi monarchy and kill Christians and government officials in the kingdom, said someone purporting to be a leader of the group in a recording.

Al-Qaeda ordered supporters in the Saudi army to “collect information on everything related to the Saudi royal family” in an effort to dethrone them, a speaker identified as Saeed al- Shihri said in an Arabic-language recording posted today on a website that often carries al-Qaeda statements. The identity of the speaker could not immediately be verified.

The group has accused the Saudi monarchy of helping the U.S. to wage war against Muslims through its military campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen. Al-Qaeda in June ordered sympathizers in the military to abduct Saudi princes, ministers and Christian residents.

The U.S. embassy warned its citizens in the kingdom that it has credible information that unidentified extremists may be planning to attack western nationals in al-Qassim province north of Riyadh, according to a Warden Message on its website dated Aug. 4. The timing and method of potential attacks aren’t known, according to the statement.

'There Is No Islam without Jihad'

Anas Zahed, a columnist for the Saudi government daily Al-Madina, criticized Arab and Muslim intellectuals who limit the term jihad to a personal, spiritual struggle and reject its interpretation as waging war against occupation, which he said is its principle meaning.

Following are excerpts:

"Islam without jihad is the product of colonialism and is in no way connected to the Islam of Muhammad. Without question, the greatest jihad is personal jihad, and therein lies the proof that the term jihad in Islam is not limited [solely] to waging war... [But] this does not mean that the term jihad does not include many other aspects, among them those which relate to the individual's responsibilities to society, and the relations of the [Muslim] society and ummah with societies and countries that declare war on a Muslim state.

"[However,] ever since the American [declaration of] war against what is called terrorism, there has emerged a group of Arab and Muslim authors and academics who try to limit jihad to one dimension, namely to personal jihad. This is exactly what happened in India during the period of British colonialism, when the Qadian sect, also known as Ahmadiyya, emerged and rejected the principle of fighting the colonialists. [They] abolished the duty of jihad in the sense of waging war, and were content with preaching merely personal jihad.
