When twitter chooses to do business with known terrorists and terrorist organizations, isn't that exactly what they're saying?

Often times corporations are accused of putting profits before people. Often times there is a great deal of hyperbole in accusations claiming corporations don't care if they are complicit in the deaths of innocents.

But I don't think it is hyperbole to claim it in twitter's case. They know terrorists murder innocents, but they don't care. They do business with these people and organizations anyway.

Recently, Somalia’s terrorist group al-Shabaab has been using Twitter to propagate its message. Similarly, Hamas also maintains a Twitter feed. Twitter refuses to block their accounts because they say these groups have not violated their policies against “direct, specific threats of violence” or “unlawful use.” The social media site is making a dangerous mistake by trying to be liberal with illiberal forces.

When violent groups choose to promote their aims, attempts to neutralize their extremism through open, online debate must take a backseat to protecting lives by cutting off these groups’ lines of communication. E-tolerance of the intolerable helped give rise to homegrown radicalism in Europe. Those who aim to kill and maim others have no place on Twitter.

Ironic Surrealism:

CAIR should have looked before they leaped to tarnish Canadian Troops, by way of an Islamic jihadi propaganda video.

In fact Ibrahim Hooper (spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations in D.C.) is furious that Canadian Troops were laughing while destroying Taliban weapons by blowing up a building in Afghanistan housing a weapons cache.

Reading the post we find out that the video is owned by one Mr3133169.

Mr3133169 is a popular Jiahdist user and al-Qaeda supporter on Youtube. Although he's smarter than your average Muj in that he's careful about how he goes about his Jihad. Skirting the very edges of Youtube's TOS.

He's also an important social node in the online Jihadi network along with his friend JihadiPrincess AKA BlackEyedLioness AKA MujahidahBonita1 out of Jakarta. This person recently dropped me some love mail on my channel

It looks like they served the indictment against the owners of Megaupload because it had become the #1 place to illegally swap movies. But it's also one of the places terrorists like to use to swap their videos, so, I'm not exactly crying over the loss.

Update: Why do I find that the Department of Justice website being shut down by the online terrorists at Anonymous ... funny? Because I am a very bad man:

Online activists Anonymous struck back almost instantly, shutting down both the US Justice Department and Universal Music's websites in a response called 'Operation Payback'.

As of 11:11am today, both websites were still down.

“It was in retaliation for Megaupload, as was the concurrent attack on Justice.gov,” said Anonymous operative Barret Brown.

Last time I checked blackmail was unlawful even in Belgium.

Why I'll be darned, the Pakistanis are good for something!

AP: Moeed Abdul Salam didn't descend into radical Islam for lack of other options. He grew up in a well-off Texas household, attended a pricey boarding school and graduated from one of the state's most respected universities.

But the most unlikely thing about his recruitment was his family: Two generations had spent years promoting interfaith harmony and combatting Muslim stereotypes in their hometown and even on national television.

Salam rejected his relatives' moderate faith and comfortable life, choosing instead a path that led him to work for al-Qaida. His odyssey ended late last year in a middle-of-the-night explosion in Pakistan. The 37-year-old father of four was dead after paramilitary troops stormed his apartment.

It also stresses the importance that al-Qaeda places on internet propaganda and communications.

He established diffuse Jihadi media groups and trained his brothers who followed the path of the Jihadi media. He administrated many websites and Jihadi forums, and he guided and planned and attacked the enemy masterfully. He led the Jihadi forums and websites of splendor, attacking the strongholds of arrogance and infidelity, weakening the determination of its troops, and sabotaging their great media plans”

In addition, it's nice that he was killed in Pakistan. It saves listening to all that bullshit crap about targeting and killing al-Qaeda members who also happen to be US citizens.

I'm not sure why I it had to be an Israeli group that's threatening Twitter with a lawsuit for facilitating terrorism. US law is clear: providing services -- even free ones -- to specially designated terrorist organizations violates federal law. But I'm glad someone is doing it:

an Israeli legal group threatened to sue Twitter for allowing terrorist organizations such as al-Shabaab and Hezbollah to use its services. "It has come to our attention that Twitter Inc. provides social media and associated services to such foreign terrorist organizations," wrote Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, director of the Shurat HaDin Israel Law Center. "Please be advised that (doing so) is illegal and will expose Twitter Inc. and its officers to both criminal prosecution and civil liability to American citizens and others victimized."

In another story today in Forbes, Daniel Freedman argues that the US should not focus on shutting down social media accounts used by terrorists, but:

if, for example, we develop a way to subvert their accounts and redirect followers to counter-narrative websites, explaining why their ideology is wrong, we’ll have a far more lasting impact.

But I don't think our options are limited to just shutting them down or hijacking their accounts. No, there are other options.

Like, killing them. Kill each and every member of a terrorist organization that uses twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or any other social media site.

If you claim to be a member of a terrorist organization, you are fair game. It's not really that hard to track down who these users are. So, let's strap on a set of balls and kill them.

Unless, of course, their use of the internet helps us find bigger fish. In which case, keep them online. For the time being. And then, after we've killed their operational commanders, kill them too.

Yes, killing terrorists is something I support.

I don't get it. If we know the Taliban are on Twitter, then we know a) who they are; b) where they are.

Why not just kill them? The ISAF spokesman is a member of the military and therefore a legitimate target in war. Why not the Taliban spokesman?

Kill him. Twitter war over. We win.

Unless, of course, we glean important intel by these a-holes continuing their blathering. In which case, keep it up.

But somehow I have a feeling that allowing these guys to breathe has nothing to do with intel, and everything to do with hand wringing pencil necks that the Army sent to law school on our dime making these kinds of decisions.

Censored31's Blog Owned by Howie

Pro-al Qaeda blogger from Belgium, regular contributor to extremist forums, and former troll at The Jawa Report "Censored31" is having a little difficulty understanding the word "democracy". He has a string of posts allegedly showing how evil "democracy" is, mostly links to articles about this or that sin of a Western power, but then he has this weird headline, "Assad's democratic forces humiliate men by making them imitate animal sounds" [emphasis mine].

Bashar al-Assad's Syria is ..... democratic? The dictator Assad is representative of ..... democracy?

Then his buddy Ansaruddin defends the statement to me in a series of tweets by claiming that since Assad claims Syria is a democracy and that they held a referendum in which he "won" then, yeah, it's a "democracy".

Also a democracy by this definition: every other dictatorship and/or communist country in the world.

Look, if you people want to support al Qaeda, fine. You're showing your true colors and letting the world know just what you "real Salafis" think. You're doing us a favor.

But to claim a dictator who inherited power from his father, who is the leader of the same political party as Saddam Hussein -- the Arab version of the Nazi party, the Baathists -- and who "won" a referendum with a Soviet style 97.2% "vote", that just shows that you're not only misled about the nature of fundamental human rights but also that you're either stupid or a liar.

Even your old buddy Zach Chesser wouldn't make such a fundamentally stupid statement. Unless the pair of you want to be remembered as the intellectual peers of, say, an Emerson "Goatly" Begolly after your're put behind bars then I'd say you might want to abandon that line of thinking and move on to more important things.

Like does Allah require you to wage violent jihad or is he content with all this pussy blogging you've been up to?

I hope whoever the next President is will consider reaching across the aisle in the name of bipartisanship and ask Sen. Lieberman to head Homeland Security:

In a letter Tuesday to Google Chief Executive Officer Larry Page, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., expressed concern that Pimentel was able to "share his support for violent Islamist extremism" and spread his "hate-filled writings" through the a website hosted by Google.

"As demonstrated by this recent case, Google's webhosting site Blogger is being used by violent Islamist extremists to broadcast terrorist content," Lieberman told Page in the letter, obtained by Fox News. "Pimentel's site is just one of the many examples of homegrown terrorists using Google-hosted sites to propagate their violent ideology."

I was researching some of Jose "Muhammad Yusuf" Pimental's online buddies when I ran across these transcripts from Ayman al-Zawahiri being sold at one of those websites that sells essays to students too lazy to write their own. One of Jose's buddies had uploaded it.

I've actually caught two students trying to turn in the same essay they bought on the internet. One of them actually had the gonads to claim that she was the author and that she uploaded it to the site .... which another student in the class just happened to also download and print out as her own work.

But to pass off the work of Ayman al-Zawahiri as your own? Now that takes some serious chutzpah!

We've been waiting a very long time for this. We have so much on this dude that I'm not sure where to start except to note that we've been following Jose Pimentel for some time and he's one of those hip-hop wannabe type Jihadis.

That, and it took me oh about 15 seconds tracked the bastage down when we first really started looking hard at him back in July.

News is starting to leak about the arrest this weekend of a New York City man who planned to bomb police and military facilities. The NY Post reports:

The NYPD and Manhattan DA’s office have arrested a terror suspect who was planning to bomb city police facilities and US military sites, where he plotted to target returning war personnel and the families who gathered to welcome them home, The Post has learned.

The suspect, who lives in Manhattan, was arrested after he actually purchased bomb-making materials, sources said. He’d been on the authorities’ radar for about a year, the sources said.

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly where he planned to attack.

We can report here exclusively at PJM that the man arrested is Jose Pimentel of Harlem. On his Facebook page he describes himself as:

I am a Muslim convert from the Dominican Republic looking for other muslims living in the US specially in New York City to share a brotherhood with and to help each other stay firm on the religion. Also looking for anyone that wishes to learn more about Islam and other religions.

It's a Canadian report, but keep reading as there is a US connection. Hosting Hezbollah definitely violates U.S. law. I'm not sure what Canadian law is, but I expect it's similar.

As for Syria, I'm not sure of the legal ramifications. However, it is certainly unethical to do business with the regime:

7 Syrian websites — including the Ministries of Culture, Transport and Social Affairs and Labour — are hosted on Canadian-based web servers through intermediary companies....

The UofT report also says a website for the official media arm of Lebanese political party Hezbollah, is hosted on Canadian and U.S. based servers and uses Canadian servers to stream its TV broadcast globally.

Canada currently classifies Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Home Secretary Theresa May is banning Muslims Against Crusades, a group planning an anti-Armistice Day protest.

The organisation had planned to repeat a demonstration seen last year, when members burned poppies near to London's Albert Hall.

Mrs May's order, which comes into force at midnight, makes membership or support of the group a criminal offence.

The organisation is closely linked to a host of other previously-banned groups.

...Muslims Against Crusades is the latest incarnation of the organisation originally set up by extremist preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, who fled the UK six years ago.

...Its previous incarnations, Al Ghurabaa, The Saved Sect, Al Muhajiroun and Islam4UK are all proscribed groups.

Anjem Choudary, the leading public figure in the organisation, accused the government of attempting to cover up the truth.

Recent posts there included one by Abu Izzadeen asking of the assassination of President Barrack Obama was legal. Izzadeen, born Trevor Brooks, has since been arrested for violating the conditions of his early release from prison. He was serving time for supporting terrorism.

Wow it appears Joey has a new hobby, outing Jihobbyists.

Today's specimen is Abu Hadeed (shown here using his Youtube nickname). All jihobist like him try to strong arm you into accepting their rhetoric and most end up in jail where they believe they are the 'aseerun'. Anyway he is begging to make his point public so I will give him a platform. Interesting is the amount of times in his posts that he insults Khaleeji Arabs and uses terms like greasy & slimy. Seems to be a classic case of self hate,failure and blame it on the kuffar. You be the judge and don't forget to join his network,because indeed birds of a feather flock together.

Since Yousef had his falling out with the Jihad community they have turned their hatred against him as well. As they say politics make strange bedfellows.

In fact I'm of the opinion that even though I don't trust Yousef any further than I can throw him, his knowledge and expertise would be invaluable in the fight against terrorism and the spread of al-Qaeda propaganda.

We keep our focus tight here, for the most part we only direct our ire at known designated terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and those who advocate for murder and terrorism against civilians. Civilians just like Joey.

If the computers we use to fly Predator and Reaper missions can be infected by a keylogging virus, then they can be infected by even worse ones. Which means our military networks are nowhere near safe.

The story begs the obvious question: if the virus was intentionally targeted at our military instillation, then who is behind it?

China and Iran come immediately to mind, but let's not leave Russia out of the usual suspects lineup.

And could this be the work of a non-state actor? Say, the Anonymous hackers.

If so, would this qualify as an act of terrorism?

“We keep wiping it off, and it keeps coming back,” says a source familiar with the network infection, one of three that told Danger Room about the virus. “We think it’s benign. But we just don’t know.”

Military network security specialists aren’t sure whether the virus and its so-called “keylogger” payload were introduced intentionally or by accident; it may be a common piece of malware that just happened to make its way into these sensitive networks. The specialists don’t know exactly how far the virus has spread. But they’re sure that the infection has hit both classified and unclassified machines at Creech. That raises the possibility, at least, that secret data may have been captured by the keylogger, and then transmitted over the public internet to someone outside the military chain of command.

The US-born radical Islamist cleric and suspected al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed in Yemen, the country's defence ministry has said.

A statement said only that he died "along with some of his companions."

UPDATE by Matt Damon: Looks like it may have been a drone that got him.

Al-Arabiya television network cited local tribal sources as saying suspected U.S. drone aircraft - which are known to operate in Yemen - fired two missiles Friday at a convoy of vehicles believed to be carrying al-Awlaki and his guards.

Remember Sammy keep looking up......there is a drone with your name on it.

I'm with Alix, it's big. What Daveed is talking about is the long-term resilience of al Qaeda. Yes, they're resilient ... but Samir and Awlaki are media personalites that they won't be able to replace very easily. And since they both were raised in America, they will have a hard time finding someone to fill their shoes. Even Adam Gadahn, another al Qaeda propagandist from the US, didn't have the same type of impact on Western audiences.

Samir, especially, spoke in terms that American and English speaking European radicals could relate to. Gadahn has been in Afghanistan/Pakistan so long, that he sounds no different than any other radical from the Middle East.

In a tweet to me, Daveed actually agrees with this sentiment. It's just a matter of long vs. short-term perspective. But let's not be buzzkills today, okay people? It's a day to celebrate.

U.S. operatives on the ground in Yemen used fingerprint analysis to confirm that a joint CIA-military drone strike Friday killed American militants Anwar Awlaki and Samir Khan, according to a U.S. government official briefed on the operation....

“Samir Khan was a bonus. It was a twofer,” said Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas), who serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security. “It’s a pretty good hit.”

..Kelly said Khan had extensive contacts in New York City and published the English language Inspire Magazine, which instructed lone wolves on how to build bombs at home, and in the most recent issue identified Grand Central Station as a target.

Kelly said Al-Awlaki was focused like no other on attacking the U.S. and Khan legitimized attacking women and children.

This is really a textbook example of how an online jihadi goes from fantasizing about terror to actually planning it.

One of the five arrested was a guy who went by various online names, including Abu Ishaq al-Atrash Aldbora. What's so interesting about him is that he seemed to be using all the online mediums to connect with other extremists.

Blogpot blog? Check.
YouTube account? Check.
Forum member? Check.

I'll note that our very own Stable Hand was the last one to comment on his YouTube channel. That was four months ago. Which means that his online extremism preceded his terror plan suggesting that one may be a predictor of the other.

......threat comes from Umar al-Basrawi, a frequent contributor to a major Islamic jihadist forum, whose most recent online post asks American Muslims to “cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever," according to the SITE Intelligence Group, a private company that monitors online jihadist traffic.

Apparently, Basrawi didn't appreciate a joke that Letterman, who is not Jewish[jihadis think everyone is a Jew..ed], made about late al-Qaida bigwig Ilyas Kashmiri, a senior al-Qaida leader reportedly killed in an airstrike, and his former boss, Osama bin Laden.

Fatwa?

I'm only seeing one English language report about the arrest of Abdellatif Aoulad Chiba who is said to be an administrator of a jihadi forum, and that story isn't very detailed. Chiba is 37 and originally from Morocco but was living in Jordan at one time until that country deported him for extremism.

Google translations of Spanish language newspapers don't seem to be yielding too many other details about which forum he was associated with. They say the forum was used to distribute al Qaeda propaganda, but that's pretty much par for the course for all of them. Chiba had used the forum to gather information on how to make chemical weapons and had asked for permission from AQIM to carry out attacks on their behalf.

Given his location, my gut instinct is to guess that he was involved with the Ansar al-Mujahideen forum -- but that's just a guess. If any one hears anything else about this case, especially which forum Chiba helped administer, please let me know in an email.

But postings on jihadist websites have urged Muslim militants to incite the rioters to further action via social media, possibly leading to Arab-style protests in Britain, SITE claimed.

Another post to the Shumukh Al-Islam website advised jihadists to “infiltrate the British Facebook and Twitter” pages with catchy slogans such as “We are all Mark Duggan," SITE said.

On another jihadist website, Ansar Al-Mujahedeen, users provided links to the Facebook pages of top British football clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal, urging militants to post key slogans there, according to SITE.

Sudbury Patch:

Tarek Mehanna, the Sudbury resident accused in a 2010 indictment of conspiring to kill American troops in Iraq, will ask a judge today to dismiss some of the charges accusing him of providing support to al Qaeda, the Associated Press is reporting in the Sacramento Bee.

The report says Mehanna's lawyers will argue today at Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston that most of his activities are protected by the First Amendment in relation to free speech.

We are in a time of war you know. The enemy's propaganda network is a fair and crucial target. No war is ever fought, won or lost without propaganda.

Mehanna's claim of free speech or informational purposes is laughable when you consider the context. See our post here on Mehanna's multiple and long standing connections to multiple convicted terrorists and terrorist propagandists.

Arrested Blogger Identified: Tarek Mehanna

Like clockwork, Mehanna's family defends him as a nice boy who just completed his graduate work to become a pharmacist. What his family may or may not know is that Mehanna goes by the online handle "Abu Sayaba" and runs the "Iskandari" website which is devoted to promoting the Salafi ideology.

For instance, Tarek "Abu Sayaba" Mehanna has, literally, dozens of posts recounting the words of Abdullah Azzam, the intellectual backbone of al Qaeda. Also among his favorite authors are Sayyid Qutb.

In addition to friends like Maldanado who has been convicted on terrorism related charges, Mehanna's online buddies include:

Shades of Swords, who glorifies the executed Bali bombers as martyrs.
Inshallahshaheed, who we have an entire category devoted to and who claims he personally doesn't go off to fight the jihad because "it's hard" and who recently has set up his own media division in support of terrorist organizations.
Jihad Fields Are Calling, who's name pretty much sums it up.

And so on and so forth. In other words, the people he associated himself with online are either a) actively engaged in violent jihad; or b) actively engaged in supporting violent jihad through the distribution of terrorist propaganda.

His chances of having this dismissed runs about the same as former Revolution Muslim Emir Zack Chesser who plead guilty to Material Support for similar dissemination and advocacy for al-Qaeda.

I put them at zero/zilch/nada unless his lawyer feels he's gotten a sympathetic liberal judge. Its clear he agreed with al-Qaeda, tried to join the Jihad and wrote many times in support of al-Qaeda and its war against the United States.

Internet Haganah

There are currently only three jihadi forums that are sufficiently active and well-connected to be of any interest whatsoever. Why we claim to be on the verge of defeating al-Qaida while simultaneously watching passively as they use these forums to regroup and regenerate is beyond me.

A portion of the jihadi community globally bypasses the forums entirely, and instead relies on Facebook and Youtube. This seems particularly true of Western jihadis, the HVEs.

As for Facebook, what can I say. The Taliban is back and going strong as well although, not many comments. Zionist may have made some believe the site really isn't the Taliban. They were hacked, you know.

Other terror groups like alQaeda, alShabaab, Hamas, Hezbollah etc sympathizers are going strong as well. Such as this one:

As the House Homeland Security Committee prepares to hold hearings this week on the issue of radicalization in the Somali community, it is important to note the reach that the al-Shabaab terrorist group has into the United States. Earlier this month I reported exclusively here at PJM on a fresh set of al-Shabaab recruits from Minneapolis and Columbus, Ohio that were interviewed on their way to Somalia by award-winning Kenyan journalist Fatuma Noor. And in June, I broke the story about an al-Shabaab suicide bomber from Minneapolis — the second Somali suicide bomber from Minneapolis, and only the third recorded case of an American successfully carrying out a suicide bombing (all three were Somali-Americans).

Undoubtedly one of the issues that the Homeland Security Committee will be looking at is how more than two dozen young Somali-Americans, many of whom were good students coming from middle-class families, were recruited to travel overseas to join the global jihad. What will likely never be mentioned: how that recruitment continues unimpeded today.

Not only is the Minnesota mosque that has served as the “radicalization incubator” for many of these youths still churning out jihadist recruits, but one of al-Shabaab’s top recruiters continues his recruiting efforts openly on Facebook and has targeted hundreds of Somali high school and college students.

Cabdulaahi Faarah (Faarax), a naturalized U.S. citizen, has proven to be one of al-Shabaab’s most effective Western recruiters. Now residing in Mogadishu, he uses his Facebook page[image above from his FB..ed] to continue his recruiting efforts. In just the past week he has added more than 50 new friends — most of them in the U.S. — bringing the total number of his friends on Facebook to more than 500. But Michelle Malkin is reporting that the Taliban later denied their own press release, claiming phone hacking by US intelligence.

KABUL: Two Taliban spokesmen said their mobile phones had been hacked and false text messages sent out on Wednesday reporting the death of the movement’s supreme leader Mullah Omar, who is still alive.

“This is the work of American intelligence, and we will take revenge on the telephone network providers,” said spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, when contacted by Reuters to confirm the veracity of one text message.

The messages came from phone numbers used in the past by both Mujahid and a second spokesman Mohammad Qari Yousuf and said “spiritual Leader Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid has died” and “May Allah bless his soul”.

Really I fail to see a down side in this, either Mullah Omar is dead or...... the Taliban are so effing owned on the internet its not even funny.

What am I saying? Yes it is funny.

In fact I can't stop laughing..... really.

Update: It appears the Taliban have totally lost control of their website. The "fake Mullah Omar" announcement still appears on their English version of the new website which is hosted in the Netherlands.

Darn you'd have thought they'd have been safe there.

Nope. LOL.

Yes this is who we are fighting in Afghanistan. I seriously doubt the claims of the Taliban, the murdered people appear to be ordinary Muslims.

The Taliban videotaped the brutal execution of more than a dozen Pakistani policemen who were captured during last month's raid in a remote area of northwestern Pakistan.

The graphic video, which shows 16 Pakistani policemen who are lined up and then gunned down by Taliban fighters wielding AK-47s, was taken in early June in the Shaltalu area of the district of Dir in northwestern Pakistan, a Pakistani official and US intelligence officials who track the region told The Long War Journal. The executions were filmed after the policemen were captured during several days of heavy fighting.

A Taliban commander tells the policemen they are responsible for the execution of six Pakistani "children" in the neighboring Pakistani district of Swat. Just prior to executing the Pakistani men, the Taliban leader gives a quick speech.

"These are the enemies of Islam who originated from Pakistan," says the Taliban commander, who is masked and has not been identified, according to a translation of the statement received by The Long War Journal. He describes the men as "murtards," or those who have abandoned Islam.

I was gone when a number of jihadi forums went lights out, but I believe we talked about this before the MSM got wind of the story by linking this post over at Internet Haganah.

But since I'm still getting a number of emails asking if we were the responsible party the answer is emphatically no.

We do not hack any websites. Never have, never will. Even al Qaeda websites. Especially al Qaeda websites.

Nor do I believe that Th3j35t3r is responsible.

Then who is the responsible party? No comment.

MSNBC:

Computer hackers shut down al-Qaida's ability to communicate its messages to the world through the Internet, interrupting the group's flow of videos and communiqués, according to a terrorism expert.

"Al-Qaida's online communications have been temporarily crippled, and it does not have a single trusted distribution channel available on the Internet," said Evan Kohlmann, of Flashpoint Global Partners, which monitors the group's communications.

The attack was carried out within the past few days by unknown hackers targeting al-Qaida's Internet communications systems. It was "well coordinated and involved the use of an unusual cocktail of relatively sophisticated techniques," Kohlmann said.
