In an interview with the London based Arabic newspaper Asharq al-Aswat, the exiled radical preacher Omar Bakri Mohammad denied the legal charges against him that he was a leader of al Qaeda in Lebanon, while encouraging Sunnis to support the "mujahideen" in their fight against "occupation". He also noted that he continued to teach his followers in the US and Britain through the internet.

But most noteworthy of all is he denial that his daughter, Yasmin Fostok, had rebelled against his conservative brand of Islam to become a London stripper. You see, it's all a Jewish plot to make the al Qaeda supporter look bad:

[Asharq Al-Awsat] What about reports in the British press about the issue of the delinquency of your daughter, and that she works in a nightclub?

[Bakri] This is a fabricated lie and a falsehood against me, my sons, and honourable and veiled daughters. It is fabricated by some British Jewish media organs that harbour malice against the Islamic callers. There is no doubt that the western media fights the call for God, because of this media's malicious crusading viewpoint. The Arab media copies from the western media. This is in addition to the falsehoods of some of Rafidah [pejorative term used to describe Shiites by their opponents] Shiite newspapers, and Lebanese secular newspapers. They are promoting these lies to damage my dignity and the sincerity of my call. This has become exposed, and no one repeats or accepts it other than the naive defeatists.

British police say 22 people have been arrested outside of the US embassy in London during a protest over the use of military drones in Pakistan.

Scotland Yard confirmed the arrests on Friday at the demonstration organised by a group calling itself United Ummah.

The demonstration was advertised as a gathering that would include Friday prayers outside of the US embassy to draw attention to "the murder of Muslims with drones".

Home Secretary Theresa May is banning Muslims Against Crusades, a group planning an anti-Armistice Day protest.

The organisation had planned to repeat a demonstration seen last year, when members burned poppies near to London's Albert Hall.

Mrs May's order, which comes into force at midnight, makes membership or support of the group a criminal offence.

The organisation is closely linked to a host of other previously-banned groups.

...Muslims Against Crusades is the latest incarnation of the organisation originally set up by extremist preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, who fled the UK six years ago.

...Its previous incarnations, Al Ghurabaa, The Saved Sect, Al Muhajiroun and Islam4UK are all proscribed groups.

Anjem Choudary, the leading public figure in the organisation, accused the government of attempting to cover up the truth.

Recent posts there included one by Abu Izzadeen asking of the assassination of President Barrack Obama was legal. Izzadeen, born Trevor Brooks, has since been arrested for violating the conditions of his early release from prison. He was serving time for supporting terrorism.

According to the report from the NORC at the University of Chicago Americans have more tolerance for Communists, gays, etc and not for Islamists. Duh, they didn't fly those planes into the Trade Centers or the Pentagon.

The report though, is really disturbing for the response Americans gave regarding Islamists: ZIP

The survey found that 49 percent of Americans in 2008 would allow a book by a Muslim extremist to be in their local library, while 48 percent approved in 2010.

UPDATE by Rusty: This is a double post so I'm moving most of it below the fold, but check out how the UK media paints the EDL as extremists while those protesting in favor of bin Laden are merely supporters. As I've said many times before, I don't know much about the EDL. Most of the anti-EDL rhetoric I've heard is the kind of connect-the-dots guilt-by-association type stuff that you get from Charles Johnson and company.

To be honest, the more I hear what they actually have to say vs. who their opponents say they really are the more I like them. I think the real problem here is that they tend to say it with a distinct working class accent, something the British elite seem uncomfortable with. But, like I say, I may be wrong.

No movement is pure. If you're looking for purity join a religion, not a political movement. The fact is that they are the only ones brave enough to stand up to bin Laden's real supporters in the UK.

And, yes, these guys really do support bin Laden. Look at this screengrab that SH took of the website that organized this rally.

A day after the radical "Salafist" Sunni preacher Sheikh Omar Bakri was arrested last month, having been sentenced in absentia by a Lebanese court to life imprisonment on terrorism charges, he received an unexpected visitor in his holding cell at Beirut's police headquarters. Nawar Sahili, an MP from Lebanon's militant Shi'ite Hizballah movement — the Salafists' most powerful local enemy — and a lawyer by training, offered Bakri his legal services. "I have been delegated by [Hizballah leader Sheikh Hassan] Nasrallah to represent you. He has heard your voice," Bakri recalls Sahili telling him. Hizballah's decision to help Bakri may seem odd given that the Salafist cleric has in the past criticized the Shi'ite organization. In 2007, he told a Lebanese newspaper that he rejected Hizballah's "armed cantons" in Lebanon, and questioned why the "resistance" against Israel should be monopolized by the Shi'ite sect. Still, with a bleak future ahead of him, Bakri accepted Hizballah's offer and has since been released on bail pending a retrial scheduled for March.

While a majority of Salafist scholars reject terrorism, many al-Qaeda leaders claim to be inspired by the sect.

It is illegal to be a member of Bakri's organisation after it was outlawed for glorifying terrorism and for outspoken statements praising the "magnificent" 9/11 hijackers.

But his supporters are still setting up a regular stall on the High Street near Abdulwahab's family home to try to recruit more young Muslims to their cause.

Last week, gathered around a trestle table after Friday prayers, Mr Alamgir and a dozen other activists handed out anodyne "Introduction to Islam" leaflets before quickly disappearing when approached by this newspaper.

Carefully written, apparently to avoid breaching anti-terrorism laws, the leaflets' purpose appeared to be to direct prospective recruits to a website containing inflammatory speeches by Bakri and articles against "The terrorist activities of Britain".

I also wonder if they are passing out images of Taimour's dead body as a introduction to Islam?

Beirut, Lebanon (CNN) -- A radical Islamic cleric facing a life sentence on charges of aiding an al Qaeda affiliate has been released on bail while his retrial continues, Lebanon's state news agency reported.

A military court convicted Omar Bakri Mohammed in absentia two weeks ago of charges including membership in an armed group, possession of weapons and explosives, and committing crimes against the state, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported at the time.

Bakri was arrested after a shootout two days later.

Bakri is having a retrial because he was convicted the first time in absentia. At the start of the retrial Wednesday, he denied the accusation and said he has no links to either an armed organization or to al Qaeda, the NNA reported.

Bakri was released Wednesday on a bail of 5,000,000 Lebanese pounds ($3,333), the army and news agency said.

Lebanese police have arrested radical Islamic preacher Omar Bakri, just days after the formerly British-based cleric boasted he would "not spend one day" of a life sentence behind bars.

He now faces a retrial because his first trial was held in absentia.

"He was arrested by a patrol of intelligence agents from the Internal Security Force in his home in Tripoli," a security official told AFP.

Police said Bakri tried to flee in a car as the patrol closed in on his house in the main northern city on Sunday, prompting an officer to open fire to prevent him from escaping.

"As the patrol went to arrest him... he tried to flee. A member of the security forces opened fire and two bullets hit the back tyres" of Bakri's getaway vehicle, a police statement said.

He was duly arrested and transferred to Beirut, police said

A judicial source told AFP that Bakri must be retried before a military court in line with Lebanese law because he was sentenced in absentia.

Bakri, a fundamentalist Sunni Muslim who has praised the September 11, 2001 attacks and hailed the hijackers as the "magnificent 19", was sentenced to life by a military court on Thursday.

The 50-year-old, who lived in Britain for 20 years, was found guilty, along with more than 40 other Lebanese, Palestinians, Syrians and Saudis, of "incitement to murder, theft and the possession of arms and explosives".

The day after the sentence was handed down he vowed he would "not spend one day in prison".

BERLIN -- A small Hamburg mosque once frequented by Sept. 11 attackers was shut down and searched Monday because German authorities believed the prayer house was again being used as a meeting point for Islamic radicals.

The Taiba mosque was closed and the cultural association that runs it was banned, officials in the northern German city of Hamburg said.

The homes of leading members of the cultural association were also searched and the group's assets were confiscated, Hamburg's state government said in a statement.

The prayer house, until two years ago known as the al-Quds mosque, was a meeting and recruiting point years ago for some of the Sept. 11 attackers before they moved to the United States, authorities say. Sept. 11 ringleader Mohamed Atta as well as attackers Marwan al-Shehhi and Ziad Jarrah had studied in Hamburg and frequented the al-Quds mosque.

"We have closed the mosque because it was a recruiting and meeting point for Islamic radicals who wanted to participate in so-called jihad or holy war," said Frank Reschreiter, a spokesman for the Hamburg state interior ministry.

He said 20 police officers were searching the building and had confiscated material, including several computers. He said he had no information about any arrests.

A friend of Revolution Muslims Younes Abdullah Mohammad (Younes is the one on the left of Zach above) tweeted Younes fell of the wagon when learning of Zach Chesser aka Abu Talhah Al Amrikee's arrest. He got a taste of what Zach is going through right now and possibly the fact Zach may rat him out. Zach did sing like a canary when caught.

Hmm, I wonder how he will explain this away on his online conference this weekend with convicted terrorist Omar the goat humping Bakri Mohammed. Maybe he can refer to the goat humpers pole dancing daughter Yasmin Fastok (image probably not safe for work) or sumptin.

How is Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst like a radical Muslim leader? Because he's decided to get all condemnatory about the play Corpus Christi, thus drawing unwelcome and extraordinary attention to a student production and causing nine plays to be canceled over safety concerns.

The play by Texas-raised and Tony-nominated playwright Terrence McNally, about a gay Christ-like figure called Joshua, was to be part of a performance of one-act plays performed by students at Tarleton State University[...]

[Dewhurst]Every citizen is entitled to the freedom of speech, but no one should have the right to use government funds or institutions to portray acts that are morally reprehensible to the vast majority of Americans.[...]

This debacle places Dewhurst in strange company, since McNally was the subject of a fatwa issued by Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammad of the UK Shari’ah Court because of the same play.[...]

At the time, Bakri made it clear that, since McNally lived in the Dar al-Harb (the non-Muslim world), the fatwa was not legally binding and individuals should not act on it. Which gives it the same strength as, say, a press release that is going to be potentially read by unhinged fundamentalists who might scare people into closing a play down.

The group led from abroad convicted al Qaeda operative Omar Bakri Mohammad has been banned once again in the UK. The followers of Bakri Mohammad have called themselves different things over the years: al Muhajiroun, The Savior Sect, al Ghuraba, Islam4UK, etc. Each group, having been banned in turn, simply renames itself while retaining the same membership and leadership structure.

Since Omar Bakri Mohammad was banned from reentering the UK it has been led by Anjem Choudary. It was under Choudary's leadership that signs were given out to protesters at the Danish embassy in London reading "Behead those that insult Islam."

Square Mile Wife:

The Islamist group which provoked outrage with its plan to march through Wootton Bassett will be banned, Home Secretary Alan Johnson has announced.

The order will come into effect on Thursday and make it a criminal offence to be a member of Islam4UK, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Mr Johnson said the group had tried to escape proscription simply by changing its name, adding that the order would apply to the group's other names, including Al Muhajiroun.

He said: "I have ... laid an order which will proscribe Al Muhajiroun, Islam4UK, and a number of the other names the organisation goes by. It is already proscribed under two other names - Al Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect.

"Proscription is a tough but necessary power to tackle terrorism and is not a course we take lightly. We are clear that an organisation should not be able to circumvent proscription by simply changing its name."

Choudary's website calls the ban a "victory". Which is ironic. Islam4UK:

Anjem Choudary once again opens his mouth and, predictably, tells us exactly what the plan is for Great Britain. There is war, he says, between those that want to impose Islamic Law in the UK and those who oppose it. Never fear, he claims, for the invertible result will be the flag of Islam flying over 10 Downing Street.

I don't know much about the English Defense League other than that a) they appear to be made up of violent skinheads; b) Robert Spencer refused to meet with them. Some people have defended the EDL to me, but to be honest it's rather hard to follow the back and forth from my computer half a globe away.

The fact that the YouTube version of the video embedded below is linked by the neo-Nazis at Stormfront make me think that there may be some truth to the accusations.

I'll note that even if the EDL are the thugs that they appear to be, that Choudary makes it clear that his Islamist followers are not just at war with them but with any one who opposes Islamic law. Specifically, those in the United Against Fascism movement, who Choudary describes as made up of socialists and communists who have joined with the EDL in opposing political Islam.

There's no mincing words here. It's either Islam as a political system or nothing. Any one who opposes this is the enemy and therefore presumably open game in what is seen as a very real war.

Which is one of the reasons Choudary makes such a great spokesman for political Islam: he's honest.

I think I take back all my calls for the likes of him and the other followers of Omar Bakri Mohammad and Abu Hamza al-Masri to be rounded up and put in jail. With a spokesman like this, who needs to waste time convincing people of their evil intents?

Wait 'til the very end to see the Londinistan Production credit. At first I thought it was a joke put in by whoever put it up at YouTube, but it actually appears in the original video at Choudary's website.

Consider this a palette cleanser to refresh yourselves after that last post connecting Adam Gadahn and Yousef al-Khattab to the vast 9/11 conspiracy.

Yes, the "emir" in the background in Anjem Choudary. Choudary is Omar Bakri Mohammad's right-hand man in the UK, one of al Muhajiroun's founders and leaders, and a man connected to scores of convicted terrorists and their supporters.

Apparently when the owner or manager of the facility found out who it was that he had rented it out to he called the cops and asked them to remove them. It appears to have taken place in Derby. Any one hear news of this?

Anyway, before you watch it you might want to throw a bag of popcorn in the micro and pop open a brewsky. It's worth going viral if only for the fact that the numbnuts who posted this actually thinks it's some kind of evidence that the Derby police are abusing Muslims. In fact the opposite is shown. Plus, you get to see them make the ever important point that they want their money back.

(UK) Muslim hate preacher Omar Bakri, 51, has been humiliated again. Some readers may recall that Bakri was outraged and humiliated last year when his daughter Yasmin, 27, was exposed as a scantily-clad pole dancer and her pictures were plastered all over the internet.

Apparently the episode so disturbed Bakri that he ordered his 15-year-old daughter Raya to cover up from head-to-toe. The instruction was sent long-distance since Bakri lives in exile in Lebanon after being booted out of England.

In the latest news, daughter Raya has disobeyed her father while also violating the strict Muslim code. Raya posted a picture of herself on Facebook in which she wears no hijab, no niqab and no burqa. Her face and arms are exposed.

A source close to the family said last night: "Raya's pictures on Facebook will make her father explode with rage.

"He's already been mortified by pictures of Yasmin half-naked."

In conclusion, Omar Bakri is experiencing rage, embarrassment and humiliation due to the behavior of his daughters. I, on the other hand, am feeling schadenfreude, delighted with the suffering of Omar Bakri. I know it's un-Christian but I can't seem to help myself.
