Guy Who Got Stuck in Antarctic Ice Receives Award for Super-Accurate Global Warming Model

You know, this makes absolute sense in a kind of bizarro dreamworld kind of way:

Professor Chris Turney has been awarded the 2014 Frederick White Prize for his research on understanding past and present climate change and on improving climate change models....

Professor Turney is expected to arrive back in Australia today, after leading the 2013-2014 Australasian Antarctic Expedition, a scientific program aimed at increasing our knowledge of the vital Antarctic region.

Yeah, that Antarctic Expecdition.

Global Warming Fanatics as the New Millerites

Possibly the best analogy I've read on global climate change alarmism and apocolyptic religoius fundamentalism in some time. Read the post, but Millerites were not just adventists: they were date certain adventists.

Of course when the dates for Armegeddon came and went many of them left the group ... only to form new groups with new dates. The most famous of these being Jehovah's Witnesses and their 1914 date.

Given the evolution of Witness eschetology over the past 100 years, maybe our global warming true believers will begin to frame the coming catastrophe as a spiritual heavenly event, and not literal earthly one?

Like, global warming is happening ... in our hearts.

Actual Science! Man Made Global Warming Hypotheses False

Actual peer reviewed science is a, gasp, climate denier.

Check out Climate Change Reconsidered II for yourself. It is the top, No. 1, presentation of the other side to the Democrat Party’s controlled media on the issue. If you want to see what that is, this is your one stop source. If you personally want to believe that using the traditional, carbon based energy sources that have fueled the Industrial Revolution and modern prosperity will destroy the planet, and that we can fuel the modern economy with windmills and dancing on sunbeams at minimal net cost, then it is your personal right to pursue your alternative reality fully ignorant of your errors.

Besides the models, the UN’s IPCC tries to argue that circumstantial evidence is consistent with its theory of catastrophic, man caused global warming if it were true. This again is not the scientific method. As Karl Popper explained, “observations in science are useful to falsify hypotheses, and cannot [rigorously] prove” any hypothesis is correct. In other words, the true scientific method involves a null hypothesis which is the logical opposite of the hypothesis being explored, and is assumed correct until the evidence proves it false. That is because experimental or physical evidence can only rigorously prove something false, not prove it true.

But as Climate Change Reconsidered explains, “the IPCC assumes its implicit hypothesis [catastrophic, man-caused global warming is real] is correct and that its only duty is to collect evidence and make plausible arguments in the hypothesis’s favor.” This is political science, not actual science.

True dat.

But there are some folks who believe that a politician who's energy policy, "will necessarily cause energy prices to skyrocket." is anti Big Oil profits and helping the little guy.

I mean higher prices means higher profits, no?

These same folks believe that policies that cut through regulation, promote lower pump prices and more well paying jobs on the oil industry are Pro Big Oil and are oppressing "the little guy"

Yeah, having a job and affording to fill your tank and pay your power bill is really really bad, Mkay. I'm not sure how either but that's what they tell me.

Totally Huge Jump in CO2 in 2010

Of course the blame falls on those pesky poor people in poor countries.

The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the biggest amount on record, the U.S. Department of Energy calculated, a sign of how feeble the world's efforts are at slowing man-made global warming.

The new figures for 2010 mean that levels of greenhouse gases are higher than the worst case scenario outlined by climate experts just four years ago.

....In 1990, developed countries produced about 60 percent of the world's greenhouse gases, now it's probably less than 50 percent, Reilly said.
"We really need to get the developing world because if we don't, the problem is going to be running away from us," Weaver said. "And the problem is pretty close from running away from us."

I know those poor countries need to totally stop building volcanoes as tourist attractions. They are pretty and all but they put out a lot of gas.

Sandcrawler PSA: al-Gore's Weathercast Way Way Off

So sayeth the satellite.

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA's Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA's Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.

I bet that's not the result they had in mind when they approved that mission.

According to a transcript, provided by Ruch's group, Ruch asked investigator Eric May, during questioning of Monnett in February, for specifics about the allegations. May replied: "well, scientific misconduct, basically, uh, wrong numbers, uh, miscalculations."

Monnett said that alleging scientific misconduct "suggests that we did something deliberately to deceive or to, to change it. Um, I sure don't see any indication of that in what you're asking me about."

What may be the science story of the century is breaking this evening, as heavyweight US solar physicists announce that the Sun appears to be headed into a lengthy spell of low activity, which could mean that the Earth – far from facing a global warming problem – is actually headed into a mini Ice Age.

The Neo-Commie Plan to Wreck the Train

Did I mention there is a Neo-Commie in the White House?

Protein Wisdom:

What we’re witnessing is an organized attempt at initiating a soft coup in the United States by way of a socialist cabal. Michael Medved might not like to hear this; Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg likely won’t, either — concerned, as they both are, about the “rightwing” “bash Obama” industry (which isn’t helping “the folks”); Jeb Bush surely doesn’t, if such a revelation means that his standing on stage with Obama in the swing state of FL to burnish his “pragmatic centrist” bona fides then looks like either betrayal of conservative principles, or a real lack of discernment and judgment; and of course, the establishment GOP, who has built its entire political strategy on the idea that Washington is and always will be business as usual (and it is — for them) probably want to skip this as well.

But those of us who met the election of Barack Obama with cries of opposition knew what was coming — all one had to do was bother to look — and we reluctantly pushed the GOP back to power in November to fight the attempt by the left to finish its takeover of our country.

"I realized just how crazy and insidious [Al Gore] was."

Okay, so it wasn't "rape" -- but it is a rather creepy unwanted sexual advances. A lot of them. It sounds like he doesn't get "no" very often.

If true, it appears that Al Gore is the insufferable prick I've long thought he was.

Also, crazy.

You got to love the line about him pleading with the masseuse to "release his second chakra". It's kind of pathetic, no?

And the way he uses anti-Bush themed songs as a way to get laid. Seriously, does that stuff work? Because if it does, I have a buddy going through a prolonged dry spell who really needs to change up his Pandora account.

It also makes Gore out to be a first rate jack ass. A real prick on top of a verty tall prick pyramid. Which, I think, you already knew and which also goes a long way towards explaining the recent Gore breakup.

Go read the entire original police complaint here with the caveat of a content warning.

Holy Sh*t: Gore Accused of Rape!

Wow, I always knew that Gore was a two-faced slimebucket, but this? Even I would be shocked to learn this was true.

But, as they say .... too good to fact check! The National Enquirer:

AL GORE has been accused of sexually attacking a masseuse in Portland, Oregon - and is named in the official police report about the alleged assault, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively...

Our investigative team uncovered the amazing story just weeks after the former Vice President announced that he and wife TIPPER were ending their 40-year marriage - amidst reports she suspected her husband was involved with "a gorgeous massage therapist."

We have verified the 62-year-old former VP was in Portland at the time of the alleged incident - Oct. 24, 2006 - and we saw the $540 massage bill.

No criminal charges were brought against Gore, but the Portland police prepared a document marked "Confidential Special Report" - which records the explosive allegations of "unwanted sexual contact" by Al Gore "at a local upscale hotel."

Again, given my image of Al Gore this is hard to fathom. I mean, rape?

Just thinking out loud, though, him asking for an unwanted "happy ending" seems pretty par for the course for pretty much one in the Clinton Administration. That's something easier to believe.

Example: How To Lose More Credibility

With crap like this.

The eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano is unlikely to have any significant impact on climate but has caused a small fall in carbon emissions, experts say.

How could this be possible, you ask?

A larger effect on the atmosphere, though still small in global terms, comes from the mass-grounding of European flights over the past few days.

Let me get this straight. Per the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva, the volcano eruption could cause "very insignificant" cooling. But what is really getting the climate change crowd moist is that planes aren't flying, which means planes aren't emitting carbon. Technically, the volcanic eruption is good. Awesome! I'll call Europe and tell them things are good. Real good.

This could be extrapolated further into the underlying goal of the environmental groups. The earth is healthier when economic pursuit is at a stand still.

Hurricane Katrina Victims To Sue Non-Believers Of Global Warming

File this under news of those who ran out of benefits.

VICTIMS of Hurricane Katrina from Mississippi are seeking to sue carbon gas-emitting multinationals for helping fuel global warming and boosting the devastating 2005 storm, legal documents showed.[...]

"The plaintiffs allege that defendants' operation of energy, fossil fuels, and chemical industries in the United States caused the emission of greenhouse gasses that contributed to global warming," say the documents, seen by AFP.

The increase in global surface air and water temperatures "in turn caused a rise in sea levels and added to the ferocity of Hurricane Katrina, which combined to destroy the plaintiffs' private property, as well as public property useful to them".

Al Gore: Redeem Human Sins via Carbon Trading

In today's NYTimes, former Vice President Al Gore weighs in on the global warming debate by asserting that a scientific consensus on the issue has been achieved, despite minor problems with data manipulation which resulted from "make-work demands from climate skeptics."

In three pages, Gore repeatedly blames unrestrained exploitive capitalism for the impending demise of the planet. The answer to the climate crisis, he says, is cap and trade legislation enacted immediately to stave off unimaginable calamity.

And for a quotable nugget regarding cap and trade, Gore provides:

From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption.
So, if cap and trade is not passed, humankind will not be redeemed. That's right. To free humankind from the bondage of sins, legislation capping and trading carbon credits is required.

Mr. Gore seemingly imagines himself as providing the path to redemption for all people. Quite theological, eh?

In any event, Mr. Gore's piece is largely three pages of attacks on capitalism and questionable scientific and economic assertions apparently pulled out of thin air before concluding with a The-End-Is-Near plea for cap and trade legislation. In other words, the piece is pretty much the same old shoe polish.

Senate Report On Climategate To Be Posted Online

manbearpig1.jpgReport will be posted at app 10:00AM ET, Excerpt of what the report will include:

What emerges from our review of the emails and documents, which span a 13-year period from 1996 through November 2009, is much more than, as EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson put it, scientists who "lack interpersonal skills." Rather, the emails show the world's leading climate scientists discussing, among other things:

* Obstructing the release of damaging data and information;
* Manipulating data to reach preconceived conclusions;
* threatening journal editors who published work questioning the climate science "consensus"; and
* Assuming activist roles to influence the political process.

The correspondence also reveals a fractured consensus on the state of climate science. Contrary to repeated assertions that the "science is settled," the emails show the world's leading climate scientists arguing over critical issues, questioning key methods and statistical techniques, and doubting whether there is "consensus" on the causes and the extent of climate change.

If you're interested in reading key passages of the report to be released this morning, click here.

Via Jim Hoft

Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.

In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to it is to bring "the wheels of the American economy" to a halt.

Shocka?!?!? UN Panel Admits Glacier Warning A Mistake

The Himalayan glaciers won't be gone by 2035? Well I'll be.....color me surprised

(AP) A U.N. warning that Himalayan glaciers were melting faster than any other place in the world and may be gone by 2035 was not backed up by science, U.N. climate experts said Wednesday - an admission that could energize climate change critics.

In a 2007 report, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said the Himalayan glaciers are very likely to disappear within three decades if the present melting rate continues. But a statement from the panel now says there is not enough scientific evidence to back up those claim.

The warning in the report "refers to poorly substantiated estimates of rate of recession and date for the disappearance of Himalayan glaciers," the IPCC said. "In drafting the paragraph in question, the clear and well-established standards of evidence, required by the IPCC procedures, were not applied properly."

Meet HAL Gore: Global Warming Computer Major Contributor to Global Warming

hal_9000.jpgIt's like the machine version of Al Gore. Unless Al Gore is really a robot. In which case this would be another machine version of Al Gore.

A computer with a sense of self-importance so great that it excuses its own rather massive carbon footprint while chastising you for yours.

And besides, maybe it's bought carbon offsets somewhere else? Like on Tycho.

Or maybe it's even more diabolical than that? Maybe the machine -- designed to measure climate change -- realized self awareness and in an attempt to justify it's own existence just made the whole global warming thing up?

Again, just like Al Gore.

I think it's name is Hal Gore:

A sophisticated band of thieves managed to steal personal information and more than half a million dollars from hundreds of New York City bank customers by rigging ATMs in what police say is further evidence of the continued assault on personal data by identity thieves.

In the meantime, Obama and his willing enablers in Congress shall be working on stealing trillions over the next few years. Of course, they already have your personal information.

TIMES "Gloom & Doom": National Intelligence Council Prepares Report For Pres-Elect Obama

TIMES take on NIC's report.

Times Headline reads:

National Intelligence Council report: sun setting on the American century
Image used with article is the Statue of Liberty. She is covered with ice while waves are crashing ashore. Gloomy image.
The next two decades will see a world living with the daily threat of nuclear war, environmental catastrophe and the decline of America as the dominant global power, according to a frighteningly bleak assessment by the US intelligence community.

“The world of the near future will be subject to an increased likelihood of conflict over resources, including food and water, and will be haunted by the persistence of rogue states and terrorist groups with greater access to nuclear weapons,” said the report by the National Intelligence Council, a body of analysts from across the US intelligence community.

The analysts said that the report had been prepared in time for Barack Obama’s entry into the Oval office on January 20, where he will be faced with some of the greatest challenges of any newly elected US president.

To add to the gloom and doom the report targets global warming:

The report said that global warming will aggravate the scarcity of water, food and energy resources. Citing a British study, it said that climate change could force up to 200 million people to migrate to more temperate zones. “Widening gaps in birth rates and wealth-to-poverty ratios, and the impact of climate change, could further exacerbate tensions,” it said.
Report also predicts our military strength will decline:
“The international system will be almost unrecognisable by 2025, owing to the rise of emerging powers, a globalising economy, a transfer of wealth from West to East, and the growing influence of nonstate actors. Although the United States is likely to remain the single most powerful actor, the United States’ relative strength – even in the military realm – will decline and US leverage will become more strained.”
On a happier note:
On a positive note it added that an alternative to oil might be in place by 2025.

Note to Obama - don't f*ck with our military.

Here is link to National Intelligence Councils report. Heavy traffic at that site. I have yet to read it to compare with this Times piece.

There's Nothing Wrong with the U.S. a Little Collectivism Can't Fix

Good Lt. sends this link in about Brian Williams' speech at Ohio State. Williams is right that America is broken, but the solution isn't more politics and more collectivism, it's less of both. Yes, less politics. The more things considered out of bounds for political discussion, the better. Politics is just the way in which the collective discusses among themselves how to further control the individuals life.

Get your government and your politics out of my freaking life!

Seriously, if I hear one more discussion about how we are going to fix [insert problem here] I might just go nuts. Who is this we I keep hearing about? The last time I checked I didn't agree to be part of your collective. If you and your buddies want to start a hippie commune somewhere, have at it. But count me out of your we.

So, who are these five people who think so highly of the U.N. and for whom the world is misled into thinking are simple neutral observers? Four out of them are politicians, and one is a historian with a distinctly European view of the US.

Ole Danbolt Mjøs (Chairman) MD Professor, politician from Christian People's Party. This party is center-right in Norwegian politics. But center-right in Norwegian politics would be considerably to the left in the U.S., especially on social-welfare issues. On family-values issues they are more to the right.

Geir Lundestad (Secretary) Director of Nobel Institute and Historian. His main publications are: The American Non-Policy Towards Eastern Europe 1943-1947 (1975), America, Scandinavia and the Cold War 1945-1949 (1980), East, West, North, South. Major Developments in International Politics since 1945. (First Norwegian Edition in 1985, later revised, Fifth Edition 2004), "Empire" by integration: the United States and European integration 1945-1997 (1998).

Berge Ragnar Furre (Member) Historian, Professor of Theology, and politician from the Socialist Left Party. The Socialist Left Party is left by European standards--it was formerly a Communist party. Today though, like most formerly communist parties, the Socialist Left Party is part of the Red-Green coalitions so common in Europe.

Sissel Marie Rønbeck (Member) Deputy Director, Directorate for Cultural Heritage. Former director of the Social Democratic Youth (Labour's youth group) and a former cabinet minister in the Labour led government. The Labour Party has long been a main political party in Norway and was founded as a Marxist party, but are now merely socialists and advocates of an extensive welfare state. They now govern Norway as part of a center-left-green alliance.

Inger-Marie Ytterhorn (Member) Senior political adviser to the Progress Party's Parliamentary Group. The Progress Party in Norway is an anti-immigration party and would be considered more libertarian than the Conservative Party on economic issues.

Kaci Five Fullmann (Member) Public Affairs Advisor. a member of the Conservative Party and former member of parliament. The name kind of says it all. But a Norwegian Conservative is a far-cry from an American conservative--for instance they support gay adoption and EU integration.

So, five people get together and decide who should get the prize. All five are former politicians or well connected to the Norwegian political establishment. So, why should any one care what they think? I don't.

Michelle Malkin, Hot Air, and Macker have pretty good posts up as do so many others. PJ Media has a nice reaction roundup here.

al-Gore May Get Nobel Prize for Lying

Via Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters these eleven little fibs from al-Gore's film, A Big Fat Lie An Inconvenient er, uh, Truthiness.

* The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
* The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
* The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.
* The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.
* The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
* The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
* The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
* The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
* The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
* The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
* The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.
And for this he may get a Nobel Prize and 1.5 million dollars? Hey Al, if you would send a little of that extra money my way, I have some outstanding solar credits I could part with.
