Is it Even Worth Mentioning that Debris "May" Have Been Spotted from Missing Plane?

I don't know if this is something or nothing. Reading the whole article, there's so much hedging that it sounds to me that the fact that "debris" has been spotted by satellites doesn't mean much at all:

Complicating the search -- which the Australian Maritime Safety Authority suspended Thursday night -- is the fact that the debris field is probably far away from where it was when it was spotted in satellite images shot four days ago. "It could have drifted a thousand miles," he said.

And he noted, too, that the debris may be unrelated. "It could be just a false lead," Taylor told CNN's "New Day."

John Blaxland, senior fellow at Australian National University and an an expert on Australian radar, agreed. "I'm a little bit pessimistic," he told "New Day."
He said the debris might be one of the ubiquitous cargo containers carried by ships around the world.

I guess it's not all that uncommon for big piles of trash to be floating around out in the ocean. So, hopefully this is something, but probably not. Also, if it is the wreckage it could have already drifted a thousand miles from where the plane went down which would mean, what? 1,000 miles is the radius, so square that and then times by pi = 3,141,592 .... that's a search area of 3 million square miles!

So, you know, good luck with that.

(Did I do the math right on that?)

Abu Sayyaf Suspected Behind Murder, Kidnapping of Tourist Couple in Malaysia

It looks like the Filipino al Qaeda affiliate, Abu Sayyaf, murdered a Taiwanese tourist in Malaysia and then kidnapped his wife. The murdered husband probably got the better deal:

MALAYSIAN police believe an al-Qaida linked terror group from the Philippines is behind the killing of a Taiwanese tourist and the kidnapping of his wife.

Unidentified gunmen shot dead Li-Min Hsu, 57, and kidnapped his wife An-Wei Chang, 56, early on Friday on Pom Pom Island, a popular scuba diving location in the eastern state of Sabah on Borneo island....

Khalid added the attackers were believed to have come in a group of eight in a speedboat.

The fear is with so much of the Filipino military tied up with disaster recovery that Abu Sayyaf terrorists are more free to do their thing. As if the Philippines didn't have so many other worries right now.

'Moderate' Country Rules Calling God "Allah" Illegal for Christians

And by 'public disorder' the court means "some Muslims might take offense and kill you". Which is really rather nice of the court, thinking about the safety of Christians and what not. Of course, this is a reminder that even in Muslim countries Islamophobia runs rampant. The biggest culprits being Muslims themselves.

The Muslim court itself is Islamophobic. What else would you call a court that held Muslims to a lower standard than everybody else?

A Malaysian court has ruled that non-Muslims cannot use the word Allah to refer to God, even in their own faiths, overturning a 2009 lower court ruling.

The appeals court said the term Allah must be exclusive to Islam or it could cause public disorder....

The 2009 ruling sparked tensions, with churches and mosques attacked....

Dozens of churches and a few Muslim prayer halls were attacked and burned in the wake of the 2009 ruling, highlighting the intensity of feeling about issues of ethnicity and faith in Malaysia.

When will the Islamophobia in Malaysia end!

New York Times Reporters Riot Over Newspaper Desecration

According to El Cid, this video shows a group of Muslims in Malaysia publicly burning The Star newspaper which published a pork recipe during Ramadan.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia publicly condemned the desecration saying it "was not helpful" in the fight against extremism, would put Malaysian troops in jeopardy, and might lead to acts of terrorism by the editorial board of the New York Times .

Malaysian Anti-Gay Camp

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) The government has established a camp to correct effeminate behavior in schoolboys, believing that, if left unchecked, effeminate boys could end up being gay or transsexual.

Parents are being blamed for encouraging young boys to develop feminine traits.

Sixty-six schoolboys identified by teachers as effeminate began counselling this week to discourage them from being gay.

They are undergoing four days of religious and physical education.

An education official said the camp was meant to guide the boys back "to a proper path in life".[…]

Gay sex is illegal in Malaysia and homosexuals say they face discrimination from government policies such as a law that makes sodomy punishable by 20 years in prison.

Activists have expressed outrage, saying the boys are being persecuted because of homophobia. Heh.

Malaysia: Fatwa on Valentine's Day

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz says Valentine's Day is connected to 'vice':

......He said Islam was not opposing the celebration of love, but vice activities that usually took place during the celebration.

"That is why a fatwa (edict) was issued to prevent and advise Muslims not to celebrate Valentine's Day because in reality, as well as historically, the celebration of Valentine's Day is synonymous with vice activities," he said.

The fatwa, issued by the National Fatwa Council during its 71st conference almost six years ago, stated: "The spirit of Valentine's Day celebrations is associated with elements of Christianity and vice activities that are prohibited in Islam."

Vice, what vice?

SWM With Psychically Induced Anal Pain Seeks Muslimah Into "Death to America" Tatoos & Shouting "Jihad" at Masjid (Bonus: Greg "Abdul Muid" Morse Responds!)

greg_morse_crazy_muslim_small.JPGIf you didn't read our earlier post on this guy who hangs on on jihadi forums, you really need to do so now. No, seriously go read this post. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of jokes at Greg's expense in the coming months and you will want to be in on those.

First, Greg just responded in the comments of that last post. I traced him to Malaysia. And if he's telling the truth about that, what other parts of his story might be true? His attempts to get into Iran? His commitment to jihad? His death to America tattoo? The CIA's mind control rays forcing him to have homosexual thoughts?

Here's his comment (emphasis mine):

It's not surprising to see that the government has kept people stupid and satanic. Any mention of anything involving satanic plans, advanced technology that cannot be seen and advanced psychology makes you insane, delusional, paranoid, schizophrenic, in denial, in need of help, you name it. The intelligence community would be proud of such a cover up through belittling. Too bad countless people have acknowledged this nonsense and are as disgusted with it as I am though it is very difficult to do anything about. One day, people will wake up and the others will stop lying to hide their dirty secrets. Organized-stalking is a fact and there are books on the subject. In fact none of my material is particularly new or fascinating just a different perspective on a lot of information that has already been published.
You see, Greg isn't paranoid he's perceptive. Well played Mr. Morse. Well played.

But even perceptive people who are the victims of a CIA backed satanic organized stalking campaign to make them think they are homosexuals get lonely. So, if you're a Muslimah in search of a guy with a "death to America" tatoo and who likes to yell "jihad" at the masjid, Greg is your guy.

greg_morse_dating.jpg

Here's his self description in the dating ad:

Though I converted only in April of 2010, I have become a strong believer through devotion to studying Islam and my own personal jihad against the great unseen satanic conspiracy that has spread to all parts of the world. I have travelled the world gaining Islamic knowledge and experiencing the good side of culture while fighting the bad.
No mention of Jon Stewart's subliminal messages inducing anal pains. Nor the relentless CIA mind control campaign to make him think he is a homosexual. You'd think you'd want to mention that early on. Like, before the first date.

But wait, what Greg also fails to mention is what turns him on. Um, you might not want to read on as this may be not safe for work:

The first dream was that my fiancée had a genitalia that was the shape of a huge penis protruding from her with a vagina at the end of it and that I was having intercourse with this strange object. The dream was transitioned to another dream about driving around in a van with people I used to know from Psi Upsilon Fraternity. I woke up with an erection.
Dude, with a dream like that who wouldn't wake up with an erection? A homo, that's who!

Thanks to an unidentified guest in the comments for the tip on the dating profile.

About Those "Moderate" Muslims in Malaysia

So, searching for the back story on that child bride law in Malaysia (it turns out the hype is much worse than the actual law) I found something that is a real story. It's not "news" so much as it is a reminder that even so-called "moderate" Islamic societies are fascist by Western standards.

This isn't a topic many in the West want to face because it might make us reevaluate what exactly a "moderate" is. The fact is that Malaysia is an ally on the war on terror and is "moderate" in every sense of the word when applied to Muslims. Yet, we still get this:

Because Muslims are not legally able to marry non-Muslims in Malaysia, Bangarama's 2001 marriage to her husband, who is Hindu, cannot be officially recognized. She also can't register her husband as the father of their two children on their birth certificates. According to Agence France-Presse, her Malaysian identity card, which has her Muslim name (Siti Hasnah Bangarama Abdullah) and says that she is Muslim, further complicates the case.
So, there you go. This is what so-called "moderate" Islam looks like.

Many of who we in the West call "moderates" -- those who believe like us, in the strict separation of church and state, equality before the law for all people, freedom of conscience for all, equal rights for the sexes, etc. -- are really liberals.

I have no problem with liberal Islam. Pray towards Mecca all you want. Have fun with that. But the second you begin advocating a dual legal system like they have in nearly every single Muslim country in the world -- even "moderate" ones -- then you and I part ways. You may be a "moderate" compared to the Salafis, the Wahhabis, and the Khomeinists, but by that standard Mussolini was a "moderate" fascist compared to Hitler.

Malaysia Now on Par with Arkansas on Child Marriages

This isn't "pedophelia" as some are suggesting -- what Muhammad did to Aisha, that's pedophelia. In fact, many US states allow teenagers to marry with the parents' permission:

Malacca chief minister Mohamad Ali Rustam reportedly said that marriages for Muslims below the current minimum age of 16 years for females and 18 for males would be allowed with the permission of parents and religious courts.
So, no big deal. My own Mother was married at 16. And her mother, even younger.

I guess the real problem here would be how it's implemented. And given the society that the law was passed in, I don't have much confidence that it will.

Oh, Those Zany Moderate Malaysians

Caning men and women for having sex out of wedlock. It's all the rage in "moderate" Muslim countries.

Malaysian authorities said Wednesday that officials caned four Muslim men and, for the first time, three Muslim women earlier this month on a conviction of having sex out of wedlock.

The move to cane the women under the country's Islamic Shariah laws has raised fresh concerns about the growing political and judicial influence of Islam in what traditionally has been one of the world's more moderate Muslim nations.

What's next for these Westernized moderate Muslim Malaysians, caning women for drinking a beer in a hotel? Oh, they did that already.

Allah Allah Allah Allah Allah

In Malasia a ban is being re-imposed on Christians using Allah in their publication unless they insert the words "for Christians"

Muslims may accidentally read Christian publications, oh the horror!

Kuala Lumpur, Mar.1 : The Malaysian Government has re-imposed a ban on Christian publications from using the word 'Allah.'

Malaysian Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has said that the government will seek cancellation of the February 16 gazette, which said that Christian publications could use the word 'Allah' provided the words 'For Christians' were clearly printed on the front cover[...]

Apart from barring the use of 'Allah', the ban on Christian publications also includes prohibitions on using words like 'Kaabah,' 'Solat' and 'Baitullah'.

"It is just that the government wants to avoid any confusion," Albar added.

Pesky little Christians.

Good News! Malaysia Releases 9/11 Suspect And Bilogical Weapons Expert

Via Weasel Zippersyazid_sufaat_1.jpg

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Malaysia said Wednesday it had released suspected terrorist Yazid Sufaat, an alleged biological weapons expert who was also linked to the September 11 attacks in the United States.

Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Yazid, a member of regional militant group Jemaah Islamiyah, who was arrested in 2001 and held at a detention camp in northern Malaysia until November 24, was now safe to be released.

"He was considered as a threat to public security in Malaysia because he was part of Jemaah Islamiyah, trying to establish an Islamic government within the region," he told reporters.

"I think after holding him for so long, he can be brought back into society but at the same time we will follow closely everyone that may have ideology (of) militancy or extremism."[...]

The United States' 9/11 Commission Report has said that Yazid, a US-trained biochemist, was tasked by Al-Qaeda to develop a biological weapons programme and spent several months trying to cultivate anthrax at a lab in Afghanistan.

It also said that in 2000 he hosted at his apartment in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur four figures involved in the September 11, 2001 suicide plane attacks which killed nearly 3,000 people.

Damn, this sucks.

Blogger Ordered to Remove Content

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Blogger Raja Petra will likely get prison if he doesn't comply with the High Court ruling.

Blogger and website editor Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin has been given until Friday to remove three articles on his blog which were considered defamatory of lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

At the same time, Raja Petra was ordered to reveal the source(s) for these articles as well as the identities of those who have posted their comments and messages on the three articles by Saturday.

These injunctions were granted by judge Datuk Tee Ah Sing in chambers at the High Court about 4.30pm yesterday.

Muhammad Shafee had taken out a writ of summons against Raja Petra for defamation over all the three articles posted on his blog at his Malaysia Today website on Aug 6, 7 and 11.

They want to prosecute the commenters also. So much for freedom of speech in Malaysia, eh?

Malaysian Blogger Jailed for Sedition

(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) A 58-year-old blogger and editor of Malaysia Today, Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin, is scheduled to stand trial in October for an alleged seditious article he posted on his website.

The article alleges government corruption by withholding evidence and influencing the judiciary in a high-profile murder case.

Additionally, a visitor to Raja Petra's blog, author Syed Akbar Ali, is charged with the same offense for a comment he wrote. Therefore, not only is the content of a blog post considered seditious but a comment on a blog is also.

The alleged seditious writings pertain to the October 2006 murder of pretty, young Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu (pics), 28, whose mutilated body (remains were blown up with hand grenades) was found in a jungle clearing adjacent to a Kuala Lumpur suburb.

Altantuya's former lover and head of a political think tank, Abdul Razak Baginda, 46, and two bodyguards for Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak were accused of committing the murder. Three Malaysian police officers were also implicated as having a hand in the crime.
