What Climate Change Means After Houston

You see that there water line, add two meters and don't build below that.

I know, that land will have to return to agriculture and new houses will have to compete with existing agriculture for land, and we'll need transportation....

Or you can tax carbon, which might do a little to slow it down maybe, if everyone in the world sopped cutting trees and never burned anything.... or something.

Anyway, none of this will happen. People will rebuild and there will be more storms.

Carry on.

California Democrat Blames Global Warming For Immigrantion Flood

It seems global warming is the blame for EVERYTHING!

On a three-day trade mission to Mexico, California governor Jerry Brown talked most frequently about climate change and immigration, and spoke passionately about the link between the two, according to the Wall Street Journal.

UK Liberal Media Discovers Root Cause Of Nigerian Terrorism

The root cause behind the abduction of 276 school girls - Islam global warming!

The kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian school girls, and the massacre of as many as 300 civilians in the town of Gamboru Ngala, by the militant al-Qaeda affiliated group, Boko Haram, has shocked the world.

But while condemnations have rightly been forthcoming from a whole range of senior figures from celebrities to government officials, less attention has been paid to the roots of the crisis.

Instability in Nigeria, however, has been growing steadily over the last decade - and one reason is climate change. In 2009, a UK Department for International Development (Dfid) study warned that climate change could contribute to increasing resource shortages in the country due to land scarcity from desertification, water shortages, and mounting crop failures.

Shh! Let's not mention to the leftist media that recent studies show Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with socioeconomic factors. Its all about Islam.

U.S Sends Icebreaker To Free Icebreaker Sent To Free Global Warming Nuts

You can't make this sh!t up. The US is now having to rescue the icebreaker sent to rescue global warming scientists trapped in ice:

The United States Coast Guard is sending the Oregon-based icebreaker Polar Star south to the Antarctic to free a Russian research ship that got trapped in the ice, and also to free a Chinese icebreaker that got trapped in the ice while trying to free the Russian ship. An Australian icebreaker also was unable to help.

Climate Change Scientists Trapped In Antarctica - Too Much Ice To Rescue

Global warming is the damnedest thing. Just when you think you've got a handle on it, it screws you over 180°.

The Aurora Australis has abandoned its first attempt to cut through the ice surrounding the stranded Akademik Shokalskiy in Antarctica after moving just two nautical miles.

About 6am, the Aurora's captain, Murray Doyle, began to manoeuvre the icebreaker through thick wedges of consolidated sea ice.

But by 9am [midday Sydney time], the master made the call to turn the ship around and move back into open water.

"The ice became too thick for us to penetrate. Some of the floes are up to two metres of ice with a metre of snow on top and very compact.

The video at the top is actual footage from one of the icebreakers. So far, at least three icebreaker ships have attempted and failed to reach the scientists.

The word "irony" must not be in the leftist vocabulary.

Blaming Terrorism on Climate Change

During the Dark Ages the ignorant masses blamed God or demons for every event that seemed out of the ordinary. Crops fail? It's the wrath of God. Turn into a newt? Got better? The Devil's consort, a witch.

We know that "Climate Change" is nothing more than the new mysticism because it isn't science. Scientific theories produce hypothesis which can be nullified. That's fancy talk for when theory claims something will happen, and it doesn't, then normally we say the theory is either wrong or needs some serious tweaking.

But with "Climate Change" everything is "proof" of the theory, and nothing that happens can disprove it -- the exact opposite of the scientific method. But which is perfectly in line with faith or mysticism.

So, the temperature is rising? Climate Change! The temperature is falling? Climate Change! Ice sheets get bigger? Climate Change! Ice sheets get smaller? Climate Change!

We need only wait a few more years until turning into a newt will also be blamed on Climate Change!

Climate change, the new God or the new Devil? Either way, it's the Dark Ages all over again. Actual headline: How climate change is helping Al Qaeda.

In order to back up the claim that climate change is responsible for the increase in terrorism in Africa, the rag then decides to ask ...... a guy who works for an "energy efficiency company" and two academics -- one at Berkeley and one at UT Austin. Only the green energy guy claims there's a connection. So, when the two academics come out and say there's no evidence that climate change is increasing conflict and therefore violent extermism -- with the UT Austin guy going so far as saying:

The science is just not there yet,
The rag replies:
But those who live in the region see a direct — and very personal — link
Get that? Climate Change! is science. It's settled. But when the experts say, "Actually, there's no scientific evidence of a link between Climate Change! and violence" the media replies with .... well, a bunch of illiterate tribespeople and a guy with a personal stake in promoting green energy claim there's a link so there must be!

Science is science when it proves your point. But science isn't science when it doesn't. In fact, the narrative of illiterate villagers is also science when that narrative "proves" your point.

And having settled the question, what does the rag then propose as the solution? If you guess wrong, you're a moron:

Sloan advocates sustainable rural electrification via mini-hydro, solar or wind. “If you empower someone you give them the feeling that they have some control over their own fate,”
So, there you are. In order to fight al Qaeda we need to adopt more green energy.

Anti-Death Penalty Professor Proposes Death Penalty For Global Warming Deniers

So let me get this straight - this professor opposes the death penalty for criminals such as mass murderers, child molesters, and rapists, but he wants people who disagree with him to be killed? By default, does that mean he agrees with what mass murderers, child molesters, and rapists did?

I have always been opposed to the death penalty in all cases, and I have always supported the clear and consistent stand of Amnesty International on this issue. The death penalty is barbaric, racist, expensive, and is often applied by mistake. Apparently, it does not even act as a deterrent to would-be murderers. Hopefully, the USA and China will come to their senses soon.

Even mass murderers should not be executed, in my opinion. Consider the politically motivated murder of 77 people in Norway in 2011. Of course the murderer does not deserve to live, and there is not the slightest doubt that he is guilty. But if the Norwegian government killed him, that would just increase the number of dead to 78. It would not bring the dead back to life. In fact, it would not achieve anything positive at all. I respect the families and friends of the victims if they feel differently about that. I am simply presenting what seems to me to be a logical argument. [...]

GW [Global warming] is different. With high probability it will cause hundreds of millions of deaths. For this reason I propose that the death penalty is appropriate for influential GW deniers.

He goes on to compare a murderer to a superhero, if the victim is, again, someone who disagrees with him. In his scenario, he equates global warming deniers with an evil genius bent on destroying the world. A hero comes along and kills the genius before any potential deaths occur:

A suicidal genius develops the means to destroy most of the world’s population. A heroic woman turns up (could also be a man, if you prefer) and kills the villain just in time. Just like one of those superheroes comics. Even Amnesty International joins in congratulating the heroine.

This professor is proposing the death penalty for people who simply deny global warming. Because their beliefs and opinions differ to his. Because, in his mind, their lack of urgency could potentially cause deaths decades or even centuries later. Because, until proven wrong beyond any doubt, his theory is paramount, while the theory of those who disagree should be squelch and silenced forever, with their murderers becoming heroes among global warming alarmists.

Report: 'Climate Change' One Of The Top Five Threats to National Security

Nat'l Defense Mag

Climate Change: The national security ramifications of climate change are severe, according to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. While the topic of climate change has been hugely politicized, Panetta casts the issue as a serious security crisis. “In the 21st century, we recognize that climate change can impact national security — ranging from rising sea levels, to severe droughts, to the melting of the polar caps, to more frequent and devastating natural disasters that raise demand for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief,” Panetta said. The administration projects that the change wrought by a warming planet will lead to new conflicts over refugees and resources and catastrophic natural disasters, all of which would require increased U.S. military support and resources. The scientific community, in this area, cannot agree on what it will take to reverse this trend. There is agreement, though, that there is no silver bullet.
Quote: "increased U.S. military support and resources"

I point you to this video from FNC's Breit Baier special: Behind Obama's Green Agenda:

The US Embassy in Vienna celebrated "greening" by using a Government Motors product, the Chevy Volt. A good time was had by all, champagne sipping, etc. The Obama administration had no problem with funding this wonderful achievement.

In a May 3, 2012, email, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC- 3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.

The subject line of the email, on which slain Ambassador Chris Stevens was copied, read: “Termination of Tripoli DC-3 Support.”

Four days later, on May 7, the State Department authorized the U.S. embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool’s new Chevrolet Volts. The purchase was a part of the State Department’s “Energy Efficiency Sweep of Europe” initiative, which included hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on green program expenditures at various U.S. Embassies.

In fact, at a May 10 gala held at the U.S. embassy in Vienna, the ambassador showcased his new Volts and other green investments as part of the U.S. government’s commitment to “climate change solutions."

Meanwhile in Libya, there were no Chevy Volts or other "climate change solutions" to celebrate, I suppose.

The "greening" of our national security can be summed up with these two images:

Obama Administration: "Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive". Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods are dead but General Motors is alive.

Nuff said.

The "Green Monster" In Our Midst

The religion of Goracle warming is still very much alive

The Greek mythological Hydra was a serpent-like beast having many heads, and for each head cut off, it grew two more.

The Waxman-Markey bill, commonly known as “cap-and-trade,” was our country’s own “green monster.” Even President Obama, the bill’s main proponent, admitted that if it were implemented, “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

It narrowly passed in the U.S. House almost two years ago, only to be figuratively beheaded in the Senate. Instead of staying dead as it should have, it, like the ancient hydra, grew two more heads, each every bit as hideous as the one it replaced.

The first was the Climate Change Fund being pushed by the United Nations. The Fund’s stated purpose is to “fulfill the Secretary-General’s 2010 call for nations ‘to fundamentally transform the global economy — based on low-carbon, clean energy resources.’”

The UN plans to meet its objective by taking from the developed nations (us), and giving to third-world, un-developed nations (them). In short, they want the third-world to share our wealth. In practice, we would end up sharing their poverty.[More]

The Green Solution To Global Warming: Nuclear War

National Geographic's Charles Choi has determined that a small scale nuclear war would reverse the effects of global warming:

The NASA modelers apparently found that explosions of 100 Hiroshima-sized warheads would produce the desired effect by blasting so much dirt and dust into the atmosphere as to reduce the effect of the sun's rays.

...Agriculture would be affected, and the earth would, for a while, be "…a colder, hungrier planet." But how much colder and hungrier will the world be after the nuclear explosions than it would be if, say, a carbon tax scheme such as the one Henry Waxman and Nancy Pelosi wanted were made law? Or if the Kyoto Treaty were revived to impose cap-and-trade on the world's productive economies while those such as China and India were exempted? Or if we allowed the Arab world rebellions to starve us of oil because we are crippled by liberal group-think that prohibits offshore drilling and the construction of new nuclear power plants?

...For those of us who believe global warming is a scam, the benefits will be immediate and personal. No longer will we have to endure cocktail party lectures about our duty to trade our 500-horsepower Mustangs for Toyota Priuses and Chevy Volts. No more will our college-age children come home for the sole purpose of measuring our carbon footprints and redesigning our lives' plans to achieve social responsibility. We might even be able to buy incandescent light bulbs again even though they use more electricity than their dimmer mercury-filled counterparts.

The Fed and Ethanonl Subsidies Sparked Egyptian Rebellion?

I don't know if Larry Kudlow has it right here, but there are very few times when I'm actually surprised by something I read. This is one of them. And it kind of makes sense. Not that commodity inflation is the only thing going on, but that the rise in food prices would be one of the causes and perhaps even the most immediate proximate cause.

Even if he's wrong on Egypt and Tunisia, if the figures he's quoting are accurate, then the Bush/Obama ethanol subsidies combined with recent Federal Reserve easing on the money supply may go down in history as the greatest contributor to the decline in human welfare in decades. It's not just making it harder for the poor to become wealthier, it's making the poor poorer.

Royal Society Steps Back on Global Warming

Arguably concurrent with former Vice President Al Gore announcing that he and his wife Tipper are separating, the United Kingdom's national science academy, The Royal Society, issued a release stating that it is changing its mind about global warming.

The good news is that an actual debate on the theory of anthropogenic global warming (AGW) may occur.

The latest institutional retreat from uncritical support of the AGW hypothesis is one that will chill warmists to the core: the Royal Society has announced it is to review its public statements on climate change.

The Society now believes that its previous communications did not properly distinguish between what was widely agreed on climate science and what is not fully understood. It has appointed a panel to review its statements, assisted by two critical sub-groups, including a number of Fellows who have doubts about the received view on the risks of increasing CO2 levels. [...]

Yet this retreat from absolutist global warming orthodoxy will deeply dismay the AGW lobby. For years, there was no fiercer proponent of the AGW theory than the Royal Society. Its previous president Lord May notoriously stated: “The debate on climate change is over.”

Personally, it's been curious that Darwin's assertions regarding evolution and Einstein's statement on relativity are still called theories yet the claims of global warmists have repeatedly been declared as settled science.

Climate Scientist Sues For Libel

Over poisonous articles.

ONE OF the world's leading climate scientists has brought a libel lawsuit against a Canadian newspaper for publishing articles he says ''poison'' the debate on global warming.

In a case with potentially huge consequences for online publishers, lawyers acting for Andrew Weaver, a climate modeller at the University of Victoria, Canada, have demanded the National Post remove the articles not only from its own websites, but also from the numerous blogs and sites where they were reposted.

Dr Weaver says the articles, published at the height of several recent controversies over the reliability of climate science in recent months, contain ''grossly irresponsible falsehoods''. He said he filed the suit after the newspaper refused to retract the articles.

Dr Weaver said: ''If I sit back and do nothing to clear my name, these libels will stay on the internet forever.''

The four articles, published from December to February, claimed that Dr Weaver cherrypicked data to support his climate research, and that he tried to blame the ''evil fossil fuel'' industry for break-ins at his office in 2008 to divert attention from reported mistakes in the 2007 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, on which he was the lead author.

Poor baby, got his feelings hurt.

Greenpeace Writer: 'We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.'

Increasingly frustrated now that their Anthropogenic Global Warming Scam has been exposed, Greenpeace activists are going all medieval, as BC at The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiller explains:

After initially allowing one of their limp-wristed Glow Bull Wormers, Gene Hashmi, to post a de facto threat against anyone who doesn’t drink Algore’s Klimate KoolAid®, GreenPiss got dog-piled in their comments section and decided to move it here, in a weak-assed attempt to put a bit of distance between themselves and the idiot author and trying to build a post facto wall of “plausible deniability“.
Here's Hashmi's peaceful, Buddha-like, non-violent threat:
If you’re one of those who have spent their lives undermining progressive climate legislation, bankrolling junk science, fueling spurious debates around false solutions, and cattle-prodding democratically-elected governments into submission, then hear this:

We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

And we be many, but you be few.

Why was the threat moved off of Greenpeace's official site? It was done, as they say, " the interest of transparency."

Long live the glorious Gaian dictatorship

Oy vey...

The Guardian reports:

Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades. This is the stark conclusion of James Lovelock, the globally respected environmental thinker and independent scientist who developed the Gaia theory.

...One of the main obstructions to meaningful action is "modern democracy", he added. "Even the best democracies agree that when a major war approaches, democracy must be put on hold for the time being. I have a feeling that climate change may be an issue as severe as a war. It may be necessary to put democracy on hold for a while."

The good news is that Lovelock is 90 years old. Presumably upon dying a natural death care will be taken to stuff him full of chemicals, lest his rotting corpse release heat and carbon dioxide...

Global Warming: And The Biggest Winner Is

The greatest scandal connected to global warming is not exaggeration, fraud or destruction of data to conceal the weakness of the argument. It is those who are personally profiting from promoting this fantasy at the expense of the rest of us.

Al Gore is the most visible beneficiary. The world's greatest climate-change fear-monger has amassed millions in book sales and speaking fees. His science-fiction movie, "An Inconvenient Truth," won an Academy Award for best documentary and 21 other film awards. He was co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his "efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change."

Meanwhile, Mr. Gore was laying his own foundations. As he was whipping up hysteria over climate change, he cannily invested in "green" firms that stood to profit in the hundreds of millions of dollars (if not more) from increased government regulations and sweetheart deals from connected politicians and bureaucrats. The multimillionaire climate dilettante was given a free pass by reporters, who refused to ask him hard questions about the degree to which he was profiting from the panic he was causing.

Hurricane Katrina Victims To Sue Non-Believers Of Global Warming

File this under news of those who ran out of benefits.

VICTIMS of Hurricane Katrina from Mississippi are seeking to sue carbon gas-emitting multinationals for helping fuel global warming and boosting the devastating 2005 storm, legal documents showed.[...]

"The plaintiffs allege that defendants' operation of energy, fossil fuels, and chemical industries in the United States caused the emission of greenhouse gasses that contributed to global warming," say the documents, seen by AFP.

The increase in global surface air and water temperatures "in turn caused a rise in sea levels and added to the ferocity of Hurricane Katrina, which combined to destroy the plaintiffs' private property, as well as public property useful to them".

Senate Report On Climategate To Be Posted Online

manbearpig1.jpgReport will be posted at app 10:00AM ET, Excerpt of what the report will include:

What emerges from our review of the emails and documents, which span a 13-year period from 1996 through November 2009, is much more than, as EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson put it, scientists who "lack interpersonal skills." Rather, the emails show the world's leading climate scientists discussing, among other things:

* Obstructing the release of damaging data and information;
* Manipulating data to reach preconceived conclusions;
* threatening journal editors who published work questioning the climate science "consensus"; and
* Assuming activist roles to influence the political process.

The correspondence also reveals a fractured consensus on the state of climate science. Contrary to repeated assertions that the "science is settled," the emails show the world's leading climate scientists arguing over critical issues, questioning key methods and statistical techniques, and doubting whether there is "consensus" on the causes and the extent of climate change.

Climategate's Phil Jones Faces Fresh Charges From an Unexpected Source

When the UK's uber leftwing birdcage liner the Guardian piles on, it's a pretty sure bet the jig is up:

Phil Jones, the beleaguered British climate scientist at the centre of the leaked emails controversy, is facing fresh claims that he sought to hide problems in key temperature data on which some of his work was based.

A Guardian investigation of thousands of emails and documents apparently hacked from the University of East Anglia's climatic research unit has found evidence that a series of measurements from Chinese weather stations were seriously flawed and that documents relating to them could not be produced.

The scale and audacity of this Anthropogenic Global Warming fraud is breathtaking; almost as breathtaking as the US President possibly throwing in the towel on Crap and Tax.

Oh Noes! Save The Turtles!!!

What to do, what to do.

A new study finds that for the world's largest population of sea turtles -- in Australia's northern Great Barrier Reef -- blazing hot sands pose the greatest threat to the animals' breeding success over the long term .

The researchers predict that from now until 2030, sea level rise will do the most harm to turtle breeding grounds. However, by 2070, sands in many areas will be so scorching that eggs could not survive.

Save the turtles, polar bears, seals, sea lions, crabs, shrimp, lobster, chickens, pigs, cows, llamas, goats, camels, ghosts, goracle, moon, stars, earth, mars, trees, dirt, manbearpig, sod, sand, water, and last but not least Playboy/Playgirl centerfold!!!
