The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has joined the ranks of the unemployed again. Just one day after being named guest editor of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hedbo, the paper's office was destroyed by fire.

Apparently some Islamophobes feared Muhammad's new position would give him too much power and decided to destroy the paper once and for all.

The phobes hurled back charges that Muhammad's own followers had burned the office calling it an inside job.

When asked for comment Muhammad said that the suggestion that his followers would destroy property was outlandish, "Islam is a religion of peace," he was quoted as saying by several major news outlets.

"President Nicolas Sarkozy's refusal to remove his forces from Afghanistan is nothing but a green light for killing the French hostages," Bin Laden says in the recording, broadcast on Al Jazeera on Friday.

"We repeat the same message to you: The release of your prisoners in the hands of our brothers is linked to the withdrawal of your soldiers from our country."

This is the second tape that Bin Laden, believed to be hiding in the mountainous border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, has released an audio recording attacking French policy and linking the French presence in Afghanistan to the kidnapping of its nationals in Niger.

Seven foreigners, including five French nationals, were kidnapped in Niger in September, with the group's north African wing Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) claiming responsibility.

It gives us a clue as to either his proximity to or trust level of Adam Gadahn and the rest of the crack staff at as Sahab productions. He may not be close enough to the crew, he may not trust them (would you?), or he may believe that the distribution network of al Fajr might somehow be traced back to his physical location.

Let's assume, though, that it's simply a proximity issue and that bin Laden simply isn't near those who produce propaganda for him. We're fairly sure that Gadahn is holed up with one of his goat-ugly wives in a small village in the nether-regions of Pakistan. So where is bin Laden?

I'm just wondering if there is something about his sudden and keen interest in Saharan Africa that is a clue as to his location? Or is that just crazy talk?

CAIRO – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden threatens in a new audio tape to kill French citizens to avenge their country's support for the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan and a new law that will ban face-covering Muslim veils.

In the tape posted on Al-Jazeera's website, bin Laden said France was aiding the Americans in the killing of Muslim women and children in an apparent reference to the war in Afghanistan. He said the kidnapping of five French citizens in the African nation of Niger last month was a reaction to what he called France's oppression of Muslims.

"How can it be right that you participate in the occupation of our lands, support the Americans in the killing of our women and children and yet want to live in peace?" said bin Laden, addressing the French.

"It is a simple equation: As you kill, you will be killed. As you capture, you will be captured. And as you threaten our security, your security will be threatened."

Update by Jane: On October 18, Saudi Arabia confirmed that they issued a warning to French authorities about an impending attack by the Yemeni al Qaeda branch. The alert was issued following the surrender of Saudi AQAP operative Jabir al Fayfi from Yemen. The irony of bin Laden defending women's rights is mind boggling.

The French Senate approved Tuesday a law banning any veils that cover the face -- including the burqa, the full-body covering worn by some Muslim women -- making France the first European country to plan such a measure.

The law passed by a vote of 246 to 1, with about 100 abstentions coming essentially from left-leaning politicians.

The legislation was overwhelmingly approved by the lower house of parliament in July and will go into effect next spring.

Police conducted a level-by-level search but didn't find any bomb.

(Nancy, France) A 58-year-old high school history teacher, Catherine Pederzoli, has been suspended from her teaching position for exposing her students to too much Holocaust history without "sufficient neutrality."

"If this teacher had been a Christian, no-one would have accused her of brain-washing," alleged lawyer Christine Tadic. "Isn't it the case that this teacher's fault is to have been Jewish?"

Nancy local education authorities were not immediately available to respond to the charge, but a report compiled by school inspectors revealed that they did have concerns over Pederzoli's teaching of the Holocaust.

The report, compiled last month, alleged the teacher took up too much time preparing pupils for annual school trips to Poland and the Czech Republic to visit sites like the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.

A copy of the report, seen by AFP, accuses Pederzoli of "lacking distance, neutrality and secularism" in teaching the Holocaust and of manipulating her charges through a process of "brain-washing".

What conceivable balance is there to express a neutral position on the Holocaust? This whole episode is bizarre!

It's not so much that this is a FAIL -- FAIL covers 90% of what jihadis do -- it's that the jihadis claim that this was a WIN.

Losers, one and all.

The backstory is that last week a letter was sent to the US embassy in Paris laced with what appeared to be tear gas. How two would be jihadis got themselves supplied with tear gas is a mystery to me. Perhaps they just took the letter to one of the near-daily "youth" riots, held it up, waved it around a bit, and then dropped it in the nearest post.

In any event, two employees at the embassy who handled the letter were examined by doctors, and then released. No big deal.

But some of the losers at an Islamic forum then claimed to have been responsible for the "attack":

Regarding the chemical letters that were sent to the fortress-like American Embassy in Paris, which the mujahedin were able to observe and monitor: the mujahedin were not able to target the embassy with an explosive-rigged car, so the mujahedin decided instead to send a number of chemical letters.” These letters, the message says, “did not achieve their desired objective, due to the difficulty and complexity and the multitude of the substances involved.” Nevertheless, the sender offers “glad tidings about these unique and powerful operations that will shake the security of the Americans, and we promise America and its allies that what is coming is even more devious and more bitter ...”

The incident triggered an outbreak of car burnings and violent attacks against police by "hoodlums and delinquents" carrying bats, knives and guns in the largely-immigrant sections of Grenoble.

The immigrant population is comprised chiefly of sub-Saharan Africans and North Africans who suffer from high unemployment and seemingly nothing to occupy themselves on hot summer nights other than drinking, doping and committing crimes.

The mayor of Grenoble, Michel Destot, said police had arrested 19 people for offences including drug trafficking and arms possession. He described the suburb as largely immigrant and poor, with an unemployment rate of more that 30 percent.

"Villeneuve is a working-class neighbourhood where the difficulty is that the population is not mixed enough and people have been weakened by the economic crisis," he told Reuters.

"There has been a rise in the underground economy and a relatively small gang of youth have imposed their law and created a climate of extreme insecurity."

Many French cities are encircled by suburbs plagued by high unemployment, crime, poor public services and drug trafficking.

In conclusion, Muslim youths torching cars in Europe could arguably be considered a form of summer recreation. Years of evidence supports the contention that it's hardly newsworthy. Sadly, it's expected.

However, what is newsworthy is the ominous eventuality that, given enough baby-making time, Muslim youths will be burning cars in North America.

The bill makes it illegal to cover the face anywhere in public and those caught wearing a full veil would face fines of $190 or be ordered to enrol in a "citizenship course".

Men who force their wives or daughters to wear the full veil face a fine of up to $37,754 and a one-year jail term, according to the draft legislation.

Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, said earlier this year that the full veil "hurts the dignity of women and is not acceptable in French society".

The measure is expected to pass the Senate without any problem and become effective sometime in early 2011.

(Paris, France) Sticks and stones may break your bones but words are now illegal in France.

Couples who insult each other over their physical appearance or make false accusations about infidelity face jail, under a new French law making "psychological violence" a criminal offence.

The law – the first of its kind – means that partners who make such insults or threats of physical violence faces up to three years in prison and a €75,000 (£60,000) fine. […]

Nadine Morano, the junior family minister, told the National Assembly that "we have introduced an important measure here, which recognises psychological violence, because it isn't just blows (that hurt), but also words."

Miss Morano said the primary abuse help line for French women got 90,000 calls a year, with 84 per cent concerning psychological violence. […]

The bill, which has been unanimously approved by French MPs, defines mental violence as "repeated acts that could be constituted by words," including insults or repeated text messages that "degrade one's quality of life and cause a change to one's mental or physical state."

Critics suggest the law merely placates women's rights activists while creating significant unintended consequences. For example, it's believed that men will be able to beat their wives with impunity now by claiming psychological victimhood.

Of course, at the outset someone should clarify whether referring to French as "surrender monkeys" is now a crime. Surely, it's insulting to somebody.

Interpolhas issued an alert for 16 more suspects in connection with the January slaying of a Hamas arch-terrorist in a Dubai hotel room, the international police organization said Monday.

The Lyon, France-based organization says it issued red notices, its highest-level alert, for a 16-strong team accused of shadowing Mahmoud al-Mabhouh before his killing. The total number of people sought by Interpol notices in the case is now 27.

French agents have arrested a nuclear engineer from CERN and his brother on suspicion of having links to al Qaida. The suspect had made contact with al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb and suggested possible targets in France. He had the intention to carry out terrorist attacks in France.

French agents have arrested a researcher from Europe's top atomic lab on suspicion of links to al-Qaeda, fuelling fears that terrorists could be targeting the nuclear industry.

The 32-year-old man, who was detained along with his brother, works for the prestigious European Organisation for Nuclear Research (Cern) in Geneva, Switzerland, according to French police sources.

''The inquiry will doubtless say what were the objectives in France or elsewhere and indicate perhaps that we have avoided the worst possible scenario,'' said Brice Hortefeux, the French Interior Minister.[...]

The suspect is believed to have been in contact with members of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), an Algerian-based terrorist organisation which joined Osama bin Laden's network in 2007.

A source said French intelligence officers had intercepted messages in which the man had suggested targets in France.

French youths set 317 cars on fire and wounded 13 police officers overnight during a series of riots on the eve of the Bastille Day holiday, police say.

Paris police said 240 people had been arrested, almost double the number held after unrest on the same day last year.

The injured officers are suffering from hearing difficulties caused by home-made explosives blowing up beside them.

Last week, the death of a young man in police custody caused three nights of riots in the southern town of Firminy.

Police said Mohamed Benmouna, a 21-year-old of Algerian origin, had died after trying to hang himself in a cell earlier in the week.

DUBAI (AFP) — Al-Qaeda's North Africa wing threatened on Tuesday to take revenge on France for its opposition to the burka, calling on Muslims to retaliate against the country, the US monitoring service SITE Intelligence reported.

Earlier this month, President Nicolas Sarkozy said the burka, which covers the whole face, was not welcome in the strictly secular country.

"Yesterday was the hijab (the Islamic headscarf long banned in French schools) and today, it is the niqab (the full veil)," Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, head of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb was quoted as saying.

"We will take revenge for the honour of our daughters and sisters against France and against its interests by every means at our disposal."

But al-Qaeda opposes it on other grounds, specifically that al-Qaeda hates the french and especially French women whom they consider to be whores who should stay off the Ummah's beaches.

The French are committing all these oppressions at a time when we find their women pouring into our countries and filling up its beaches and roads while they are dressed, in naked clothes, in an open challenge to the emotions of Muslims and an open mocking of the teachings of our Islamic religion, and their customs and traditions

Viva la-France!

Via CNN:(CNN) -- A French hostage and two pirates died Friday in a rescue operation off Somalia's coastline, the French president's office in Paris said Friday.

Four hostages, including a child, were freed from the hijacked yacht after almost a week of captivity, Nicolas Sarkozy's office said.

The French military decided to move in when pirates refused their offers and increased threats against the hostages, it said.

The four adults and a child had been held aboard their yacht, the Tanit, since it was seized in the Gulf of Aden on Saturday, the president's statement said.

I'm upset that apparently no one was in the water ready to help Captain Phillips when he jumped overboard in the middle of the night last night. I'm sure Obi-One is taking the best advice he can get. But at some point Mr. President you have to make a call. The risk is not going to get any lower.

I've never felt ashamed of my country, but I'm starting to get close.

PARIS -- Five French former inmates of the Guantanamo Bay prison camp who had been convicted of criminal conspiracy linked to terrorism after returning to France were freed on Tuesday by an appeals court.

The court in Paris released the men on grounds the ruling was based on evidence illegally extracted by French security agents at the U.S. prison, a symbol of detainee abuse which U.S. President Barack Obama plans to shut down.

The court disqualified the evidence, saying French agents for security service DST could not simultaneously gather intelligence and conduct criminal investigations.

"We could not accept that [the interrogators] would question people imprisoned in a foreign territory, in conditions contrary to international conventions," Paul-Albert Iweins, the lawyer for one of the men, told Reuters.

The five -- Khaled ben Mustapha, Mourad Benchellali, Nizar Sassi, Redouane Khalid and Brahim Yadel -- said they were tortured during their stay at Guantanamo, where they each were held for one and a half to two years.

Hopey/Changey hasn't helped with this situation by declaring closure of GITMO to improve America's image. After his own team declared GITMO follows the Geneva Convention he still plans to close it.

Readers have probably seen the recent story of the European penis-length study conducted by the Germany-based Institute of Condom Consultancy. It's all over the Interweb.

The study was performed by asking 10,500 men in 25 countries to measure their penises and fill out a questionnaire. According to the institute's director, Jan Vinzenz Krause, the results indicate which group needs larger condoms.

The results show Frenchmen on average claim to need 15.48-cm (6.09-inch) long condoms, about 3 cm longer than Greeks, whose condom-size requirement was the most modest.

Frankly, I'm quite skeptical. I believe the methodology for performing the survey was flawed. However, it's worthwhile to note that reasoning does exist for claiming that the French beacon from taller lighthouses. Arguably, France has been the home of some of Europe's bigger pricks. In fact, according to reports, some of America's bigger pricks have moved or threatened to move to France.

In any event, readers can make up their own minds.

It appears that France wants to warm the chilled relations with its former colony by offering Algeria a nuclear plant.

France has signed a far-reaching nuclear agreement with its former colony Algeria. President Nicolas Sarkozy is committed to improving co-operation between Mediterranean countries and the European Union. However, not everyone is happy about Paris' attempts to find favour with Algeria.

'A memorandum of trust' is how French Prime Minister François Fillon described the agreement that he signed last weekend. The French prime minister was in Algiers to persuade Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to take part in the Mediterranean Union, a project that is dear to President Sarkozy's heart.

Frankly, giving nuclear technology to Algeria sounds like a bad idea. Al-Qaeda terrorists are there and keeping themselves busy. Earlier this month, two attacks resulted in 13 deaths.
