Chicago or France? Leaflets Threaten Jews Over Gaza Conflict

Well, this isn't good:

Anti-Jewish leaflets were found on several vehicles on Chicago's Northwest Side, police said.

Six vehicles were discovered with leaflets containing anti-Semitic threats in their windshields Saturday morning in the 6300 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

According to the Chicago Tribune, residents reported the material contained threats to Jewish people in connection to the rising conflict in Gaza.

Surprisingly, France Doesn't Surrender to Would-be Jihadist Who Wanted to Blow up Eiffel Tower

I meant to post this yesterday, but forgot. The plot, apparently, never got passed the planning stages. But still:

A 29-year-old butcher of Algerian descent, only known as Ali M, was sending encrypted emails to a senior member of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) for over a year, reports the French daily Le Parisien.

When Ali M was asked how he would “conduct jihad in the place you are currently,” he suggested targeting nuclear power plants, several landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and “cultural events that take place in the south of France in which thousands of Christians gather for a month,” the Telegraph reports.

“The main walkways become black with people and a simple grenade can injure dozens of people, not to mention a booby-trapped device,” he said.

Had the plan been carried to its operational stage, it would have looked something like this.

French Arrest Four Right-Wing Extremists for Jewish Museum Shootings

"Jihadists", they're neo-nazis .... right?

French police on Monday arrested four jihadists suspected of recruiting French nationals, following the capture of the alleged killer of three people at the Jewish museum in Brussels....

The suspect, 29-year-old Frenchman Mehdi Nemmouche, who spent a year in Syria with jihadist fighters, was picked up on Friday by customs officials during a search for illicit drugs as he arrived in Marseille on a coach from Amsterdam. On Sunday, the Paris state prosecutor said that weapons and clothing in his possession matched those of the Brussels gunman. Nemmouche's bag contained a camera with a 40-second video which claimed responsibility for the attack, according to officials.

Out: Death to America! -- In: Death to .... France?

Wait, America is now #2 on Iran's enemy's list? Come on America, we can do better then this!

FRANCE was at the centre of a diplomatic storm yesterday after the French foreign minister was accused of sabotaging a deal with Iran which would end almost a decade-long standoff over the Iranian nuclear programme.

The most strident criticism came from Iran, where hardline press condemned the "disgraceful behaviour" of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius at negotiations in Geneva.

There were suggestions in Iranian media that trade ties should be severed with France and the country should replace America as the "Great Satan".

When France takes a harder line on Iran then America, you know your foreign policy team is led by either by a moron or an aging hippie liberal douche. Or both.

But you already knew that.

France Detains Six From Radical Islamic Terrorist Cell

Wow it looks like they've dropped the term Asian Youth.

Police have detained six people in the Paris region suspected of plotting terrorist attacks in France.

The Paris prosecutor's office said Tuesday that the six are being questioned by anti-terrorist investigators, and are believed to have been part of a radical Islamic terrorist cell.

Prosecutor's office spokeswoman Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre says the suspects were detained Monday and remained in custody Tuesday, she said. They can be held up to four days under France's anti-terrorism laws.

This Time They've Gone Too Far!

Two Muslims attack a man on the subway for eating a Ham Sandwich.

It sounds incredible but it is being treated with great seriousness by the police in Reims police station (Marne). A 23-year-old man filed a complaint on the 8th of June after having been attacked the previous evening at 9.30 pm in a city tramway by two strangers. They struck him several times on the face because he was eating a ham sandwich. The two attackers, who claimed to be Muslims, said they were offended by this consumption of pork in front of their eyes before attacking the young man. A witness, a friend of the young man who was present when the incident occurred, has been interviewed by the investigators and has confirmed the reality of the attack. The two attackers, who fled, have not yet been found. The CCTV tapes in the tramway are currently being examined.
You did notice I capitalized Ham Sandwich.

Yes it means that much to me.

Fwance Subsidizes Art Honoring Terrorists

I believe in artistic freedom. If you want to support terror with your art you are free to do so. Just don't expect me to subsidize it and, if we happen to meet on the streets, don't expect me not to punch you in the face:

A Paris museum subsidized by the French government opened an exhibition of photos of Palestinian suicide bombers, which the museum calls freedom fighters....

According to CRIF, the umbrella body of French Jewish communities, the people commemorated in the photos are “mostly from the [Fatah-affiliated] al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades [of Hamas] and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.” All three are designated by the European Union as terrorist groups.

When you use taxpayer money to support your enemies, your own doom cannot be far behind.

France: Police Arrest A Recent Convert To Islam In Attack On Pvt. Cédric Cordiez

perp_france_recentconvert.jpg

Via Le Figaro[googlish]

The profile of the alleged perpetrator Cedric Cordiez[soldier..ed], this military stabbed Saturday cutter on the forecourt of Defense, is gradually emerging. Arrested Wednesday morning in the Yvelines, Alexander, 22 years is now heard by investigators, to whom he confessed. According to information issued by the Paris prosecutor, a young homeless man, is in favor of a "traditionalist Islam, even radical, for three or four years." He converted "to the end of the majority." Few minutes before tackling Cedric Cordiez, Alexander has performed "a Muslim prayer." The young man was probably "in the name of his religious ideology," said the prosecutor, who said the terrorist qualification is accepted for the attack.
NY Times: notes:
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls said in a statement that the suspect was arrested Wednesday morning in the Yvelines region just west of Paris, following the stabbing of Pvt. Cédric Cordiez in the neck from behind with a short-bladed knife. The attack took place in the shopping mall and underground transportation hub of La Défense, west of Paris.

Officials said at the time that the attack seemed an echo of the killing and stabbing to death of a British soldier on a London street last week.

The French suspect was known to investigators, Mr. Valls said, but he urged caution and said: “I cannot talk about radical Islam.” He said investigators wanted to know more about the suspect’s “motivation, background and family environment.”

The police said he was identified thanks to video footage from the crime and traces of his DNA found on items left at the scene in a plastic bag, including a knife and a bottle[...]

Private Cordiez, 23, was released from a military hospital on Monday and rejoined his unit.

Motivation, really Mr. Valls?

Copycat Of Woolwich?
French Soldier Stabbed In Neck By Bearded Man Of North African 'Type'...

Too soon to tell if 'copycat' but smite them when you see them comes to mind. France has radical jihadi returning from the war in Syria who fought along side with the likes of al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nursah and they have worried they will start doing shite like this. Also, France's intervention in Mali have caused AQIM (al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb) loving jihadi in their midst to go ape shite.

The brave brave jihadi came up from behind the soldier and stabbed him in the neck.

leParisien (Googlish):

Vigipirate military mission in the business district of La Défense (Hauts-de-Seine) was stabbed, including throat with a knife on Saturday by a man currently in hiding[...]

According to the Nanterre prosecutor, Robert Gelli, questioned by AFP, the military soldier was hit from behind by a man who brought him a blow to the neck. He spoke of "a knife" without being able to say if it was a knife or a cutter. He was initially treated at a local RATP close before being hospitalized in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine). His life is not in danger.

The attacker managed to flee. He "left without saying a word," said the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine who visited the scene. "He wanted to kill the soldier," he said. Police described him as a man of North African type, aged about 30 years. It is with a beard, a black jacket and a light colored jilbab, according to our information.

Pat Dollard has more on this from a English source: The attack was being treated as a “terrorist incident”, said a source at the Paris prosecutors office.

Update: More on the attacker and condition of the soldier, which isn't much except for 'out of danger':

The soldier was reported to be out of danger after being transported to a nearby military hospital[...]

The lone attacker was described as a young man wearing a Muslim prayer cap and a North African-style robe called a jellabah. According to a police account, he was monitored on security cameras and seen shedding his robe and fleeing in European clothes before disappearing into the crowd in a subway and train entrance.

Let's hope the security cameras video were clear enough for a facial recognition and will lead to his capture.

The assailant was of Iranian origin, and an official investigation was underway to determine a possible motive....

Libya: French Embassy In Tripoli Hit By VBIED
Update: Video Of Aftermath

One resident stated: "It was a big mistake to site the French embassy in our neighbourhood"

A car bomb has exploded outside the French embassy in the Libyan capital Tripoli, wounding two French guards and several residents.

The blast in Tripoli destroyed the embassy's ground-floor reception area and perimeter wall, as well as damaging neighbouring homes and shops.

tripoli_vbied_frenchembassy.jpg

French President Francois Hollande called on Libya to act swiftly over this "unacceptable" attack.

It is the first major attack on a foreign embassy in the Libyan capital.

Tuesday's explosion happened shortly after 07:00 (05:00 GMT) in a smart residential area of Tripoli.

One of the embassy's guards was severely injured while the other suffered lighter injuries. Several residents were also slightly hurt.

One young girl suffered a spinal cord injury and was being transferred to neighbouring Tunisia for treatment, her father told the BBC[...]

Many neighbours who gathered in the street to survey the damage were shaken and upset by what had happened, our correspondent says.

They told her that there was a lack of proper policing for such a potentially high-profile target

"It was a big mistake to site the French embassy in our neighbourhood," a local resident said.

I'm sure the jihadi will be caught like those responsible for the Benghazi terror attack were, oh wait...

3 Toulouse Accomplices Arrested in France

One was a soldier, and some reports claim that the three helped the murderer, Mohamed Merah, get the scooter he used in the shootings:

Agnes Thibault Lecuivre of the prosecutor’s office said two people were arrested late Tuesday in Toulouse, adding that one of the arrests took place in the gritty Les Izards neighborhood where Merah spent some of his childhood.

A third person, a serving French soldier, was arrested at his barracks on Wednesday morning in the nearby town of Castres.

It's not clear the extent of the role these men played in the act of terror, but keep in mind that the French authorities knew about Merah, his connections to violent Islamists in Pakistan, and declined to act on the notion that he just wasn't that dangerous.

Hindsight: it's 20-20.

Two eHadis Arrested in France Planned Bombing

France has really stepped up to the plate lately. And with a socialist in office? Maybe this is one of those "only Nixon could have opened up China" moments? When the conservative arrests Muslims, it's Islamophobia. But when the socialist does it? Viva la France!

Two Frenchmen suspected of plotting terrorist attacks, making explosives and extremist activity online were detained Thursday, amid heightened concern about threats to France over its military campaign against al-Qaida-linked fighters in Mali.

Officials at the Interior Ministry and the Paris prosecutor’s office say intelligence and police officers detained the young men Thursday in a house in Marignane near the Mediterranean port city of Marseille. Authorities were scouring the house for explosives or other evidence of terrorist connections. The suspects are French citizens, aged 18 and 20, the officials said.

3 Chechens Arrested in France

Hopefully this will be precursor to Europeans finally taking the Chechen jihad seriously. But I doubt it:

Three Chechens suspected of Islamist terrorist activity were arrested in France this week in a joint French-Spanish operation, Spain's Interior Ministry said Friday....

The suspects were identified as Ali Dokaev, arrested in Noyon, 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of Paris; Elsy Issakov, arrested in Les Lilas on the east side of Paris; and Mourad Idrissov, arrested in Genevieve des Bois, on the south side of Paris, the ministry said.

These three are connected to another Chechen arrested last month in Spain who had al Qaeda connections.

It's Friday After Prayers Day In #Egypt: Jihadis, Islamists Call For Demonstration Outside French Embassy In #Cairo

MOHAMMED_ZAWAHIRI_2.jpg

Via MEMRI

Several Islamist and jihadi groups have called for a demonstration outside the French embassy in Cairo, in protest over France's campaign against jihadis in Mali. The demonstration is slated to be held January 18, following Friday prayers[today..ed]. The groups, which include the General Islamic Movement (Al-tayyar al-islami al-'am), a coalition of Islamist groups; the Hazem Abu Isma'il Ultras; and the Salafi-jihadi movement, have issued their calls via their Facebook pages, among other venues[...]

The Salafi-jihadi movement, for its part, confirmed that its leaders and members will attend the demonstrations. A statement on their websites read: "At your service, Mali, the state of Islam! The infidel states of the West continue to pick fights in our Muslim countries with the soldiers of the devil, hoping to extinguish the light of the state of Islam, but how wrong they are! If Allah sows [something], who can reap [it]?"

The Salafi-jihadi leaders who confirmed attendance include Muhammad Al-Zawahiri[al-Qaeda #1' bro..ed], Ahmad Salama Mabrouk, Mirjan Salem, Tawfiq Al-'Afani, and others.

The attack on our embassy in Cairo on 9/11/2012, Muhammad al-Zawahiri's group called for the release of the blind sheikh. The terrorists in Algeria also want him released, among another yet unnamed one, in exchange for 2 Americans still held captive. Coincidence? I think not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zawahiri's group and the others, again, demand the release of the no eyed bitch during the Islamic Rage boys demonstration today.

Update: Al Qaeda flags were numerous at the protest:

Fwance: We'll Beat al-Qaeda in Mali in Week

Famous last words you know.

French forces led an all-night bombing campaign over a minuscule Malian town, not even big enough to appear on most administrative maps, in an effort to dislodge the Islamic extremists who seized the area, including its strategic military camp.

Meanwhile, a convoy of 40 to 50 armed trucks carrying French troops crossed into Mali from Ivory Coast, where they were stationed, as France prepares for a possible land assault.

French President Francois Hollande launched an attack on Mali's rebels, who are linked to al Qaeda, last week after the rebels began advancing south. France's action preempted a United Nations-approved plan for a military operation in Mali, which was expected to start about nine months from now. Hollande decided a military response could not wait that long.

You know, the French eventually did figure out who the enemy is. That's good for something I guess. Vive La France!

Obama has also committed to help Hollande clean up the mess in Mali. I mean after all they made it. We can't have it turning out like say Libya now can we?

French President Raises Terror Threat Level

After Mali & Somalia military action

The French president says the country will raise its domestic terror threat level after military action in Mali and Somalia, promising to increase protection at public buildings and transportation networks.

President Francois Hollande said Saturday he had ordered increased security after the French military operations in the two African countries against Islamist forces.

France has some of the world's most recognizable monuments and a wide-ranging national transportation network; like the U.S., it also has an organized government response if there are specific fears of a terrorist attack.

French aircraft and troops are backing soldiers in Mali who are trying to push back Islamist offensives; in Somalia, French commandos launched a failed raid to rescue an intelligence agent held hostage there for three years.[...]

For the past nine months, the Islamic militants have controlled a large swath of northern Mali, a lawless desert region where kidnapping has flourished.

"French armed forces supported Malian units this afternoon to fight against terrorist elements," Hollande said in Paris.

He did not give any details of the operation, other than to say that it was aimed in part at protecting the 6,000 French citizens in Mali, where seven of them already are being held captive.

In November of last year Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb's (AQIM) leader Abu Musab Abdel Wadoud was interviewed by Terror TV's Al-Jazeera. He stated "French intervention in Mali will seal the fate of their hostages". Surprisingly, for France, they ignored the propaganda.

Why Cheese Smells

Francois Hollande-1.jpg(Paris, France) France's Socialist President François Hollande jacked up income tax rates to 75% and the Constitutional Council said no.

The tax rate had angered business leaders and prompted some wealthy French citizens to seek tax exile abroad, including actor Gérard Depardieu who recently took up residency in Belgium.

The Constitutional Council said in its ruling that the temporary two-year tax rate, due to take effect next year, was unconstitutional because unlike other forms of income tax it applied to individuals instead of whole households.

As a result, the council said, the tax rate "failed to recognise equality before public burdens".

Although President Hollande is a Marxist tool, he demonstrates the ability to see the obvious.
President François Hollande said on Thursday that Islamist groups holding French hostages in Africa were not trustworthy….
It's bothersome that any rational individual in the world would even be undecided about the intentions of Islamist terrorists, much less their truthfulness.

Two Arrested in Connection With #Toulouse Terror Attack in March of 2012

France24

French police arrested two people on Tuesday in connection with the attacks by extremist gunman Mohamed Merah, whose shooting spree in and around the southern city of Toulouse this year left seven people dead.

One man described by police as a member of the traveller community who converted to Islam was detained on suspicion of having provided aid to Merah in carrying out the March attacks that shocked France.

He was arrested without incident at his home in the town of Albi, about 70 kilometres (45 miles) northeast of Toulouse, where he was to be taken for questioning, police sources said.

His former partner was arrested separately at her home in Toulouse, with police saying she may have been aware of his involvement and failed to inform authorities.

The nature of his alleged involvement was unclear, but investigators have been searching for a suspected "third man" believed to have been with Merah and his brother Abdelkader during the theft of a scooter used in the attacks.

Merah shot a rabbi, three Jewish schoolchildren and three French paratroopers in March before being shot dead in a police siege in Toulouse.[More...

Le Figaro has more[googish]
A man, a member of the traveler community, was arrested in a small town between Albi and Castres, where he lives so sedentary. A source close to the case said Le Figaro that this 38 year old man who had converted to Islam for some time. He was close to Mohamed Merah, and perhaps his brother Abdelkader, he had known in the city of Toulouse Izards where they grew up together.

The suspect is already stuck in nine cases including cases of theft, outrage and rebellion, abuse or weakness of drunken driving. It was a priori unknown intelligence. His ex-girlfriend has meanwhile been arrested in Toulouse to determine its possible involvement

In November, Merah's sister stated she was proud her brother killed the Rabbi and the three Jewish children
"I am proud of my brother, he fought till the end (...) I think well of Bin Laden, I told the cops, I can tell you." She does not hide its antisemitic sentiments: "The Jews, all those who are massacring Muslims, I hate them." "The Salafists, they act," she said again. "Me and (Abdel) Kader, it supports the Salafists, Mohamed took the plunge. I am proud, proud, proud, "she shouted.

France Begins Reconquista of France

Apparently France's socialist government has decided that enough is enough and has plans to take back the so-called "no-go zones", mostly Muslim immigrant neighborhoods where the troubled "youths" own the night.

Consider this one of the positive things about Leftist governments. When the Right is in power, actions such as these would be construed as "Islamaphobic" in the press. When the Left does the same thing, it's just establishing "law and order".

Terrorist Takes Hostages at Toulouse Bank

France24:

Three months after the killings of Toulouse and Montauban in which Mohamed Merah had killed seven people, many individuals are being held hostage in a bank in the Pink City by a man claiming allegiance to al Qaeda.
Earlier in the week two female police officers were murdered in Collobrieres France after they confronted a Muslim man who was purse snatching. One officer fled after the other was shot, the killer followed her into an alley and shot her in the back seven times.

Nothing to see here, move along. Nope not a thing. Racists!

Update: One of the four hostages have been released.

Update II: The situation has been resolved and the hostages are safe and the terrorist was only slightly wounded. Some are describing him as a mental case, we're glad to see the press as finally come around to the idea that support of Islamic terrorist groups is a mental disorder.

Dailymotion, France's Leading Video-Sharing Website – A Jihadi Video Repository

No reason, just this image makes me laugh cuz they're dead..especially Sammy

I know we have covered this before but MEMRI has an excellent report and must read regarding some of who's who of online jihads and their nice, comfortable home at Dailymotion. Even after France's recent crackdown on "incitement" such as these jihadis create, they live on at Dailymotion.

This is just a snippet of the article, so be sure and read it all:

Jihadi Forum Members Explain Dailymotion's Advantages

In a thread on the Shumoukh Al-Islam jihadi forum on methods of uploading to video-sharing websites, "Abu Qudama Al-Muhajir" set out the advantages offered by Dailymotion: "For your information, my brothers, the Dailymotion website is excellent, as it accepts videos in most formats, including rmvb, and it accepts any amount of time. I uploaded the film la tukalif ila nafsak[5] in its entirety, without dividing it up [into segments]. One of [Dailymotion's] advantages is that it is less oppressive than YouTube, as the latter has declared war on anything that has to do with jihad by erasing its files. It also provides the option to withdraw [files] from other websites, such as Hotfile, 2shared, Filefactory, Sendspace, Megaupload, Mediafire and 4shared."[6]

A Shumoukh member going by the handle "zarqawi1" noted to fellow member "Ma'askar Khalden," who had created a YouTube archive of videos of Al-Qaeda commander Ayman Al-Zawahiri: "Don't forget to create a channel with the same videos on Dailymotion, since YouTube will eliminate your channel after several days[well not quite, but we try...ed], and all your hard work will be gone. So create a channel on Dailymotion and you will be pleased."[7][...]

Dailymotion is among the most prominent of these websites; videos produced by the media companies of Al-Qaeda and its affiliates inciting violent jihad and depicting violence are uploaded to the website on a daily basis[..]

Bringing Jihadi Propaganda to French Speakers .....

Pretty much sucks like Google's YouTube. As noted in the article, Dailymotion has removed some videos but like rats, they keep breeding.

So check the article out and the "references" at the end. Interesting links, I might add.

Mohammad Merah: Superstar!

I'm not sure which is worse: Reports out of Paris claim a man wielding a gun was heard either yelling "I am Mohamed Merah and I am going to kill you" or ""We're not all Mohamed Merah! You're being manipulated!"

At least the former makes a kind of twisted sense. The latter? File that under: Muslims are not violent: Silence, I keeel you!

Either way, welcome to Paristan!

Confirmed: French Mass Murderer Tied to Belgian Extremists, YouTube, & Google (UPDATED)

A banner promoting Cenored31's book

You guys remember Censored31? He's the Belgian al Qaeda supporter who used to troll the comments section. I goof on him from time to time. He's part of a network of extremists centered in Belgium, but which is also active in France and the Netherlands.

It's a small, small world:

A family with jihadist connections

Merah's path to radicalism remains murky but appears to have been influenced by family connections. His mother is married to Sabri Essid, a member of a Toulouse network that tried to recruit fighters to join al Qaeda in Iraq. Essid was convicted in a French court in 2009 after being detained in Syria in 2006 where he was running an al Qaeda safe house.

According to French security officials, Merah tried to visit his stepfather in prison in 2008 and sent him money.

His brother Abdelkader was also suspected of involvement in the same network but not charged. He has now been charged with complicity in the recent spate of murders.

A senior Belgian counterterrorism official has told CNN that Abdelkader Merah first came to their notice during a joint investigation in 2008 with French police into a Brussels, Belgium-based jihadist recruitment network. The network was sending Belgian and French militants to Cairo en route to join militants in Iraq -- and may also have connected Europeans to jihadist groups in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region

So, Merah was on everyone's radar, yet no one did a thing about him? That's nice. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Not so incidentally, even though the leadership of Shariah4Belgium is sitting in jail their website continues to operate. Notice their avatar in the upper left hand corner of their webpage. That's al Qaeda's flag.

sharia4belgium_al-qaeda-flag.jpg

And just in case al Qaeda's flag being part of the banner representing the group was too subtle, they have this message from Osama bin Laden in their link banner rotation.

sharia4belgium_bin_laden.jpg

Didn't Mohammad Merah say he was motivated to kill little Jewish kids as revenge for what was happening in Palestine? It's almost as if he got that idea from somewhere.....

And our old friend Censored31? He wrote a book on how awesome al Qaeda is.

Here is their YouTube channel. Check out the videos. You'll notice that the number one visual motif common to them is .... the black flag of al Qaeda.

Howie complained about them to YouTube. The response he got was that Google's employees over at YouTube couldn't find anything in the videos that violated their TOS.

They openly fly the flag of al Qaeda, and Google thinks it's fine. I wonder how they'll feel when one of the victim's families sues them for wrongful death?

UPDATE: SH and I posted about the same time, so I just combined the meat of her post with this one. So, consider this a joint post between Rusty and SH.

French Detain 19 Muslim Terrorists

Time:

A police investigator told The Associated Press that the anti-terrorist section of the Criminal Brigade detained five men before dawn in Paris who had suspected links to an Islamist movement. Weapons were also seized, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with the department's rules.

The other arrests took place in Toulouse, Marseille, Nantes and Lyon, the official said, adding that these raids were not linked to the inquiry into the slayings in Toulouse and Montauban.'

In Nantes, the head of Forsane Alizza, a radical Muslim group that formed two years ago, was among the detained. In October 2011, a preliminary inquiry was opened into the Forsane Alizza organization, and the French Interior Ministry broke up the group in February.

CERN Scientist on Trial for al Qaeda Plot

Meet Dr. Adlene Hicheur, a physicist who worked at CERN and an aspiring member of al Qaeda. And how did he become radicalized and through what medium did he try to join an al Qaeda cell? The internet:

French anti-terrorist services have said they first flagged Hicheur because of his frequent visits to radical Islamic websites. However, the order for the scientist’s arrest came only after he began exchanging emails with “Shadow Phoenix”, the alleged pseudonym of Moustapha Debchi, a key player in the north African branch of al Qaeda.

Of the 35 emails allegedly exchanged between the two men, one will feature prominently during Hicheur’s trial. In June 2009, Debchi asked Hicheur: "Don't beat around the bush: are you prepared to work in a unit becoming active in France?"

The scientist replied: "Concerning your proposal, the answer is of course YES..."

The usual model of internet radicalization is of a young guy with an empty head which is filled with violent propaganda. But what do we make of one of France's most prominent physicists being radicalized the same way? It cannot be the case that these radicals are being "misled" because "they just don't know any better".

The answer, of course, has to be that they must already have been predisposed to violent radicalism:

In an interview with centre-left daily Le Monde, Hicheur’s lawyer, Patrick Baudouin, said his client was a moderate Muslim who was interested in his religion from a young age. He also said he developed a “critical view of the world”, in particular over the Iraq War and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Well, there you go. One man's moderate is another man's terrorist.

The terrorists in Fatah are constantly telling themselves that they are moderates, not like those crazy fanatics in Hamas. And the guys in Hamas consider themselves moderates, not like those crazy al Qaeda types. And so forth, and so on.

It's the problem many Muslims never seem to grapple with when the move to the West. In their own societies they may be very much a moderate. But measured against Western values they really are in the radical fringes.

When his family defends his al Qaeda sympathies written on Islamist forums and in emails with members of al Qaeda as "free speech", then it's not a stretch to infer that the family doesn't quite get what a "moderate" really looks like in the West.

I also can't help but wonder if his extensive stints within the walls of academia weren't just as important in shaping his worldview of who "the enemy" really was as was his religious upbringing? He spent time at some of the world's most prestigious universities -- for instance, Stanford -- where Marxist and other radicals find their ideas have a home.

Combine the two -- Leftist ideology and Islamic supremacy -- and that's just a recipe for disaster.

Evidence: Merah Had Accomplice

If Mohammad Merah didn't send the snuff video showing him murdering his victims, then it certainly implies that he was not alone. So, his rantings to the media and the police about what "we" wanted, may not have been all bluster. Remember, he had gone to Pakistan and Afghanistan and trained with al Qaeda or one of its affiliates.

The evidence suggests the "lone wolf" narrative being foisted on us by the media may be way, way off:

A French official close to the investigation said it was not sent by Mohamed Merah, a 23-year-old Frenchman who was killed in a shootout Thursday after a 32-hour standoff with police at his apartment building in Toulouse.

Another official said the envelope sent to Al-Jazeera contained a Wednesday postmark from a large postal processing center for the area around Toulouse, meaning it was unclear exactly where it was mailed from. He could not say anything about who may have sent the video.

The first official said a technical analysis had concluded that it was not sent by Merah but did not indicate whether that analysis included fingerprints, DNA, surveillance or other data.

The Wednesday date would also seems to preclude Merah's brother from sending the video since he was arrested Wednesday morning. So, unless big bro dopped it in a mailbox the night before, then we have an accomplice still on the loose.

Brother of French Terrorist "Proud" He Killed

Mohamed Merah's brother, Abdelkader, described as an Islamic fundamentalist says he's proud that little bro killed a few apostates and Jews:

Le Point news weekly and other French media reported him as telling investigators he had no knowledge of his brother's acts, but that he was "proud" of them.
But don't worry, religion had absolutely nothing to do with it. Merah's uncle tells us this, so it must be true:
"Religion has nothing to do with this. He got worked up all by himself," the brother of Merah's mother, whose identity was withheld, said.
I don't blame all of Islam. But you'd have to be pretty stupid to believe that Merah's particular brand of the religion of peace was the prime motivator here. To deny that would be to deny reality.

Deluxe Retard of the Year Lorraine Collin

Daily Mail:

An English teacher sparked outrage across France today after calling for her pupils to observe a minute’s silence for Toulouse serial killer Mohammed Merah.

In disturbing scenes at Gustave Flaubert High School in Rouen, Normandy, Lorraine Collin, 56, described the 23-year-old who murdered seven including three children as himself being the ‘victim of an unhappy childhood’.
This prompted up to 15 pupils aged between 17 and 18 to storm out of their classroom and report Ms Collin to their headmaster.

Fuuahhhh....
