Another paper published by leading climate scientist James Hansen, the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the lower than expected temperature rise between 2000 and the present could be explained by increased emissions from burning coal.

OMG! Its almost as if God knew what he was doing when he made coal or something? We just can't figure out how to burn it right.

But never worry Obama is pushing increased use of clean coal technology, thus averting a the looming global ice age in one swift stroke.

The protesters reportedly chanted, “Hey, Obama, we don’t want no climate drama,” “Tell me what democracy looks like, this is what democracy looks like” and “Bullshit, get off it, enemy is profit, climate devastation will not be bought by corporation.”

US scientists say they can track early human movements by analysing molecules in ancient faecal matter.

Researchers were able to use prehistoric poo to establish the presence and size of a population dating back over 7,000 years.

They argue the method could be used to distinguish human from natural impacts on past environments.

Details have been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Climate Change: The national security ramifications of climate change are severe, according to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. While the topic of climate change has been hugely politicized, Panetta casts the issue as a serious security crisis. “In the 21st century, we recognize that climate change can impact national security — ranging from rising sea levels, to severe droughts, to the melting of the polar caps, to more frequent and devastating natural disasters that raise demand for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief,” Panetta said. The administration projects that the change wrought by a warming planet will lead to new conflicts over refugees and resources and catastrophic natural disasters, all of which would require increased U.S. military support and resources. The scientific community, in this area, cannot agree on what it will take to reverse this trend. There is agreement, though, that there is no silver bullet.

The US Embassy in Vienna celebrated "greening" by using a Government Motors product, the Chevy Volt. A good time was had by all, champagne sipping, etc. The Obama administration had no problem with funding this wonderful achievement.

In a May 3, 2012, email, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC- 3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.

The subject line of the email, on which slain Ambassador Chris Stevens was copied, read: “Termination of Tripoli DC-3 Support.”

Four days later, on May 7, the State Department authorized the U.S. embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool’s new Chevrolet Volts. The purchase was a part of the State Department’s “Energy Efficiency Sweep of Europe” initiative, which included hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on green program expenditures at various U.S. Embassies.

In fact, at a May 10 gala held at the U.S. embassy in Vienna, the ambassador showcased his new Volts and other green investments as part of the U.S. government’s commitment to “climate change solutions."

The "greening" of our national security can be summed up with these two images:

The latest bit of climate scare science gives a whole new meaning to the term Thunder Lizards!

Daily Mail:

Dinosaurs may be partly to blame for a change in climate because they created so much flatulence, according to leading scientists.

Professor Graeme Ruxton of St Andrews University, Scotland, said the giant animals spent 150 years emitting the potent global warming gas, methane.

Large plant-eating sauropods would have been the main culprits because of the huge amounts of greenery they consumed.

The team calculated the animals would have collectively produced more than 520m tons of methane a year - more than all today's modern sources put together.

It is thought these huge amounts could easily have been enough to warm the planet.

In fact during the age of Thunder Lizards there was less free oxygen in the atmosphere to convert methane. But that's not the worst. Before life created free oxygen in large amounts the atmosphere contained over 1000 times today's level of methane.

Unfortunately the dinosaurs all died and today methane levels are less than half as they were back then. Had it not been for those pesky meteors and volcanoes wiping out the pesky thunder lizards we might have been able to skip a couple of the half dozen or so ice ages between then and now.

Which points out something. Climate stasis is a myth. Earth's climate is always changing, it is never stable. Climate scientists pointing out grave consequences from our actions on climate aren't wrong, but the assumption that we nor the earth can survive is incorrect.

The Earth and its life have survived even larger shifts in climate and atmosphere over geologic history. Our contributions are not even the largest recorded influence on these systems.

Still life goes on and environmental science keeps propagating the myth of man made climate stability. Even if we spent every dollar on earth to impose a false climatic stasis on the earth. The first super volcanic eruption or asteroid strike would undo all our work in a matter of days if not minutes. And there's not a damn thing we could do about it.

My opinion, as always, is that our inability to adapt to constantly changing climatic conditions is a myth. As big as the myth that we have the ability to control it.

Let see, Al Armendariz of "crucify" fame went under the Obama Bus on April 30th after Sen Inhofe released a video of Armendariz's remarks and also announced an investigation over this incident. Before I continue, here is some background info on Mr Armendariz from Energy Indepth I think is important:.

One of Armendariz’s original claims to fame — or infamy, perhaps — was his paper in 2009, which found that “the oil and gas sector likely has greater emissions than motor vehicles” in the five counties comprising the Dallas-Fort Worth region (“emissions,” in this case, referred to nitrogen oxides [NOx] and volatile organic compounds [VOCs]). That paper, written while Armendariz was a professor at Southern Methodist University, was widely celebrated by activists, who — possibly as a “thank you” to the professor — actively pushed for Armendariz to be appointed Administrator of EPA’s Region VI office. He said the police also stopped by. “The police by the way said ‘Kudos, sir,’ ” Jordan wrote. "I actually had a "thank you" from an entire detectives squad. And another police officer is using it in a positive manner in his presentation for the school system. How’s about those apples? Didn’t expect THAT when you called the cops did you?”

Ah yes. "Those concerned with his actions" always stand ready to pronounce their regal judgement on those of us who use novel yet common sense ways to try and educate our children about what is right and what is wrong. Stupid effing ninnies.

I would have called CPS myself if he had posted a video of him beating the crap out of his daughter, but, he didn't do that. He's being pilloried now because he dared use an evil tool of destruction (gun!! eeek!!!) to teach a kid a lesson.

I won't be surprised if any number of alphabet soup government agencies show up at his house in the near future.

Unfortunately, the wind project will likely harm endangered species.

The 9-turbine, 22.5 MW project would consume 324 hectares of land currently owned by the Crown, and produce enough electricity for 6,000 homes.[…]

Gilead's permit application doesn't tip-toe around the fact that the endangered Blanding's turtle and whippoorwill will suffer.

In fact, the permit's exact phrasing is asking "to allow Gilead Power Corporation to kill, harm and harass Blanding’s Turtle and Whip-poor-will as well as damage and destroy the habitat of Whip-poor-will for the purpose of the development and operation of Ostrander Point Wind Energy Park".

All the sweet sound of cap and trade's death rattle.

Global warming-inspired cap and trade has been one of the most stridently debated public policy controversies of the past 15 years. But it is dying a quiet death. In a little reported move, the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) announced on Oct. 21 that it will be ending carbon trading – the only purpose for which it was founded – this year.

At its founding in November 2000, it was estimated that the size of CCX’s carbon trading market could reach $500 billion. That estimate ballooned over the years to $10 trillion.

Al Capone tried to use Prohibition to muscle in on a piece of all the action in Chicago. The CCX’s backers wanted to use a new prohibition on carbon emissions to muscle in on a piece of, quite literally, all the action in the world.

The CCX was the brainchild of Northwestern University business professor Richard Sandor, who used $1.1 million in grants from the Chicago-based left-wing Joyce Foundation to launch the CCX. For his efforts, Time named Sandor as one of its Heroes of the Planet in 2002 and one of its Heroes of the Environment in 2007.

The CCX seemed to have a lock on success. Not only was a young Barack Obama a board member of the Joyce Foundation that funded the fledgling CCX, but over the years it attracted such big name climate investors as Goldman Sachs and Al Gore’s Generation Investment Management.

It would be bad enough if Captain Kickass was only doing NOTHING to save the Gulf Coast. In reality, the Obama Administration, bowing to union pressure, is actively HINDERING the cleanup effort by preventing foreign vessels from assisting in the effort.

According to one newspaper, European firms could complete the [oil clean up] in four months, rather than an estimated nine months if done only by the U.S. Working with the U.S., the cleanup could be accomplished in three months. The Belgian firm DEME contends it can clean up the oil with accuracy at a depth of 2,000 meters. Another European firm with capabilities is the Belgian firm Jan De Nul Group. There are also Dutch companies with similar special equipment capable of accelerating cleaning-up the Gulf. The Belgians and the Dutch are also long time NATO allies and as such partners in international security cooperation.

According to the article, no U.S. companies have the ships which can accomplish this task is because those ships would cost twice as much to build in the U.S. as they do outside the country. This is one adverse impact of the Jones Act, which Congress passed in 1920s. This piece of protectionism has only hampered an anemic American maritime industry. It also has prevented a quicker response to the oil spill. European firms do have the expertise to clean up the spill.

"There are well-established federal procedures for waiving the Jones Act to bring in foreign vessels in those situations where American vessels are not available. The American maritime industry has not and will not stand in the way of the use of these well-established waiver procedures to address this crisis."

As highlighted elsewhere in Dredging News Online, a number of well known dredging companies based in Europe say they have offered to help tackle the spill but that their offers have not been taken up by the Obama administration."

FNC: White House Rejects Claim It Skewed Expert Opinion to Justify Drilling Ban

White House energy adviser Carol Browner on Friday rejected accusations from a panel of experts who claim the administration misrepresented their views to justify a six-month ban on offshore drilling in response to the BP oil rig disaster.

The denial came after the experts alleged that the Interior Department modified a report in late May that was used as the basis for the sweeping moratorium on existing drilling and new permits.

Though the report claimed the analysts, picked by the National Academy of Engineering, "peer reviewed" the department's recommendations, the experts say the two paragraphs that called for the moratorium were added only after they signed off on it.

To the contrary, the experts warn that such a moratorium could not only harm the economy but make the situation in the Gulf more dangerous. The April 20 oil rig explosion occurred while the Deepwater Horizon well was being shut down -- a move that is much more dangerous than continuing ongoing drilling, they said.

"A blanket moratorium is not the answer," they wrote in a letter claiming Interior Department Secretary Ken Salazar's report "misrepresents" their position. "A blanket moratorium will have the indirect effect of harming thousands of workers and further impact state and local economies suffering from the spill."

Actor, environmental activist and pilot Harrison Ford, who owns seven airplanes, told his environmental critics that he will "start walking everywhere when they start walking everywhere.”

Ford spoke on Capitol Hill on Tuesday about general aviation at an event sponsored by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. In light of criticism Ford has received from envrionmentalists about his use of airplanes, CNSNews.com asked him if his environmental activism coupled with his flying was a “contradiction.”

Ford said, “They’re quite right. I’ll start walking everywhere when they start walking everywhere.”

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.

This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is "fluid" and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn't issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters.

That's a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

"When the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) completed their successful campaign to convince the Ontario government to end one of the best scientifically managed big game hunts in North America (spring bear), the results of their agenda had severe economic impacts on small family businesses and the tourism economy of communities across northern and central Ontario," said Phil Morlock, director of environmental affairs for Shimano.

"Now we see NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the administration planning the future of recreational fishing access in America based on a similar agenda of these same groups and other Big Green anti-use organizations, through an Executive Order by the President. The current U.S. direction with fishing is a direct parallel to what happened in Canada with hunting: The negative economic impacts on hard working American families and small businesses are being ignored.

Being replaced by "eco-friendly eggs."

So.......................... eggs from an actual chicken aren't "eco-friendly?"

Reportedly, species of animals and plants are endangered because of human overpopulation and the Center for Biological Diversity is launching a program to minimize homo sapiens procreation. Free condoms emblazoned with images of endangered species will be distributed to prevent pregnancies.

Heh. Imagine a latex-clad member sporting the image of a California condor (right). Eco-friendly intimacy, eh? Frankly, I would sense a bit of bad karma or negative mojo putting images of endangered and, presumably, unfit-to-survive species on my jewels.

Nevertheless, the biological diversity crowd see the primary conflict as endangered species versus people and they are rooting for the endangered species. (More ....)

It seems al-Gore ran into a bit of difficulty when a scientist he quoted in a speech called bullshit.

Times of London:There are many kinds of truth. Al Gore was poleaxed by an inconvenient one yesterday.

The former US Vice-President, who became an unlikely figurehead for the green movement after narrating the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, became entangled in a new climate change “spin” row.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

...However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”
