This was not only humbling but it has caused me to really rethink and rethink the possibility that perhaps the truth is not politically correct.

18-year-old Sydney Spies wants a future in modeling, and she figured she would make that clear with her senior picture in her high school yearbook.

But the Durango, Colo., prospective graduate found herself embroiled in controversy when her school’s yearbook editors put the kibosh on running a photo of Sydney posing provocatively in a black shawl and short yellow skirt that exposed plenty of skin.

It seems the efforts to ban this girl's slutty pics have backfired on the yearbook staff, making Sydney famous overnight. I bet that really burns their asses.

This is the way Christians get things done, and probably the reason so many radicals on the left feel justified in attacking Christians.

On December 13th, Rabbi Joshua Hammerman wrote an article for The Jewish Week. In the article, Hammerman wrote that if Tim Tebow led his team to winning the Super Bowl, Tebow's faithful would be embolden and start "burning mosques" and "bashing gays."

Here is the entire paragraph:

If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants. While America has become more inclusive since Jerry Falwell’s first political forays, a Tebow triumph could set those efforts back considerably.

After intense pressure from the right, Hammerman edited the article to remove the offending paragraph, without explanation or any notation that the article had been drastically modified.

But pressure continued to mount. Now the whole article has been completely scrubbed. You can still read the cache version HERE.

In a way, it is unfortunate the article has disappeared, though not entirely, thanks to Google cache. It was a good illustration of religious intolerance and the double standard Christians face in today's society. Imagine, for a second, had someone suggested that, say (just off the top of my head), Muslim faithful would start burning churches and bashing non-Muslims, "emboldened" by some sort of event... like Friday prayers, or some Infidel threatening to burn a Quran or... wait... Okay, not a good comparison. Burning churches and bashing Christians is a recreational sport in some parts of the world.

But you get the idea: Christian bashing is fine, because Christians - even the most radical - won't respond with violence. But never, NEVER criticize a certain other religion of violence, even truthfully and factually. To do so, would be racist and a hate crime, not to mention, extremely provocative.

"A military court ruled this week that it’s okay a Marine wore parts of his official uniform while shooting gay porn videos — because he never appeared on camera wearing the full thing."

According to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, Marine Corps Sgt. Matthew W. Simmons was an active-duty member of the Marine Corps band when he took leave to appear in several pornographic videos that “involved sodomy with numerous other men.”

In some of the clips, he was shown wearing his Marine dress blue coat, complete with decorations and rank insignia; others showed him wearing a Marine physical training jacket. At one point he mentioned on-camera that he was a Marine, and still shots from the videos were used for online advertising, McClatchy reported.

This is an email circulating, supposedly by an American Airlines pilot. However, the name attributed, Captain John Maniscalco, cannot be confirmed. It seems to have origins that pre-date the email. It was published earlier by Gazette.net, under the author Kevin Daly.

An open letter to my Arab-Muslim neighbors:

You worry me. I wish you didn't.

I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don't blend anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.

I notice you because I can't help it anymore. People from your homelands, and professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don't fully understand their grievances and hate but I know nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.

On Sept. 11 , 19 Arab-Muslims hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants and children's mothers.

So I notice you now.

I don't want to be worried. I don't want to be consumed by the same rage and hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help.

As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to differentiate between you. How do I differentiate between the true Arab-Muslim-Americans and the Arab-Muslims in our communities who are attending our schools, shopping in our stores, enjoying our parks, accepting fresh baked cookies from a thoughtful neighbor, and sending their children out to play with ours while they plot the next attack that will slaughter those very same good neighbors and children?

The answer to my own question is that it is past the time for me to try to determine this. The events of Sept. 11th changed the answer. It is time for every Arab-Muslim in this country to determine it for me.

I want to know, I demand to know, if you love America. Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation, that He will protect and prosper it? Are you thankful for the freedom that only this country affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots? Are you willing to preserve this freedom with the spilling of your own blood? Do you love America? And if this is your commitment, then I need you to start letting me know about it.

Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions you are taking as a community and religion to protect the United States of America. Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the "innocent" (I worry who you regard as "innocent") and condemnation of "unprovoked" attacks (I worry what is "unprovoked" to you). I am not interested in anymore sympathy, I am interested only in action. What will you do for America-- the country-- at this time of crisis, at this time of war?

I want to see Arab-Muslims waiving the flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting "Allah Bless America." I want to see Arab-Muslim young men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money and time and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.

The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Deliver them up, now.

But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action.

Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisal.

The few Arab-Muslim representatives that have appeared on the media are defensive and equivocating. They seem more concerned with making sure the U.S. prove who is responsible before they act, and protecting their people from any violence directed toward them, here in the U.S. and abroad.

If the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love of all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up.

Because even if the teachings in the Koran are good and pure and true, it matters little if large numbers of current Islamic practitioners interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion.

I want to know where every Arab-Muslim in this country stands and I think it is within my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to demand it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters.

I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here; as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American. But there can be no "gray" areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance and it is up to you to show me where you stand.

Until then...you worry me.

I don't know who the bald-headed idiot is, but he goes through great lengths to distinguish between 'Muslims in the west' and 'Muslims in a place like Afghanistan' as though that in some way exonerates Islam to a certain degree.

Let me ask the Jawa readers - which Muslims do you think more accurately represent true Islam as Muhammad taught it - Muslims in the west who have always lived in a free society and learned about Islam through nefarious clerics and ignorant converts OR Middle Eastern (the birthplace of Islam) Muslims, who have known Islam all their lives and have grown up with families who have always been Muslim, going back generation after generation?

So, when Western Muslims react reasonably and Middle Eastern Muslims react violently, which do you think is more accurately representing Islamic values?

Michael Medved might not like to hear this; Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg likely won’t, either — concerned, as they both are, about the “rightwing” “bash Obama” industry (which isn’t helping “the folks”); Jeb Bush surely doesn’t, if such a revelation means that his standing on stage with Obama in the swing state of FL to burnish his “pragmatic centrist” bona fides then looks like either betrayal of conservative principles, or a real lack of discernment and judgment; and of course, the establishment GOP, who has built its entire political strategy on the idea that Washington is and always will be business as usual (and it is — for them) probably want to skip this as well.

But those of us who met the election of Barack Obama with cries of opposition knew what was coming — all one had to do was bother to look — and we reluctantly pushed the GOP back to power in November to fight the attempt by the left to finish its takeover of our country.

Reuters and Al Araibya television have earlier reported that President Mubarak himself had resigned from a leadership position in the NDP as well, but those reports appear to have stemmed from confusion that Mubarak is chairman over the council which resigned.

Mubarak still continues as the nation's president.

[.....]Fast forward to this election season. A weirdo asshole named Jesse Kelly who advocated ELIMINATING Social Security and was a tea bagger favorite got the GOP nom to run against her. I am gay and had been married and my spouse left me January 15, 2010. I shot myself in the mouth in a serious suicide attempt, because of that. Barely surviving, I spent two months in the hospital and still have some paralysis. I did receive a severance from my employer, as i had been laid off in December, 2009. That may have been part of the reason my spouse left me.

Anyway, after months of physical and mental rehab, I got back into the political scene and started working for Gabby once again. I raised over $100,000 for her and maxed her out myself out of my severance, even though i still don't have work and could not qualify for state aid because of my severance.

She wins her re-election and told me she was still a supporter of Speaker Pelosi at her victory party. We talked about how Nancy Pelosi was a successful woman and accomplished oh so much in just four years as Speaker.

Today, just a little while ago, I saw on Andrea Mitchell Reports (out of the one eye in can still see out of) that Giffords voted AGAINST Nancy Pelosi as our Minority Leader. Rhetorical question: I fought back from my condition and jumped in with both feet to help Gabrielle Giffords for THIS shit???

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is dead to me now. I won't lift a finger, make one phone call, nor will i EVER vote for her in the future. And why did she do this? Giffords never told me she was conservative Democrat. And her voting record is okay. Damn.

On CNN yesterday, Wolf Blitzer and his guests repeatedly pointed out that although Palin had made the crosshairs ad that targeted Giffords, there was no evidence that the shooter had seen the ad or even liked Sarah Palin. The unspoken suggestion was that it was therefore unfair to link Sarah Palin to this tragic event--it's just the act of a crazy person, they said.

One could make that argument if one looks at the small picture, but I think we need to look at the larger picture. It is worth noting that no congressperson has been shot in 30 years, yet there have been plenty of crazy people in the past 30 years. So why now?

Hell, they made the page before the correct spelling of his last name was given. In a hurry to lay blame.

The Jewish Chronicle:

Jews were the most frequently targeted minority group in hate crimes in New York State in 2009, according to a report issued by state officials.

Anti-Jewish hate crimes rose by 15 per cent over the previous year and represented more than a third of hate crimes committed in 2009 in the state, the report issued last week by the Criminal Justices Services Division revealed.
The report came as a synagogue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan said it had received a letter on December 30 threatening to blow up the shul on New Year's Eve.

Ohab Zedek, an Orthodox congregation, was one of a dozen synagogues to receive the bomb-threat letters, Rabbi Allen Schwartz told the New York Post. "We have reasons to believe someone wants to spread fear," Mr Schwartz said.
Police evacuated the synagogue - a 1920s building known for its elaborate Moorish architecture - but found no device. They were unable to confirm the threats to other synagogues.

The state report found an across-the-board increase of about 14 per cent in hate crimes reported to the police between 2008 and 2009.

A woman journalist from Canada, who was abducted by militants in November 2008, has died following prolonged illness in the custody of the Taliban somewhere in northwest Pakistan or Afghanistan, sources said on Tuesday.

Khadija Abdul Qahar, 55, who was known as Beverly Giesbrecht before she converted to Islam, was abducted along with her translator Salman Khan and cook-cum-driver Zar Muhammad while travelling to Miranshah in the restive North Waziristan tribal region.

UPDATE by Rusty: I'm bumping and updating this because I think some of you probably don't know Bev and don't know the backstory.

Geisbrecht once published a website called "Jihad Unspun" under the name "Khadija Abdul Qahaar". The website was pro-Taliban. I don't mean this in the sense that many on the Left are pro-Taliban -- they support any opponents of the US -- I mean this in the literal sense: she and the website supported the Taliban.

A few years ago Beverly and a collaborator who had done work with al Jazeera began showing up on a forum that I once moderated asking for help contacting "the mujahideen". They wanted to do a documentary on "the resistance" in several countries, including Afghanistan.

So, I knew Beverly. She was not a "journalist" as the MSM is reporting. She was an activist on behalf of terrorists and Islamofascists.

She and her collaborator eventually tried to make it to Afghanistan to make contact with the people she supported, the Taliban. But, as it turned out, her own pro-Taliban narrative -- that the Taliban were freedom fighters protecting Muslims from the brutality of the Americans -- turned out to be wrong. The Taliban took her hostage and threatened to behead her.

Let her sad life story be an example to all Muslims who think that America is the cause of their troubles and the Islamists the solution. This is objectively false.

Beverly knows this now. Too bad she had to learn this lesson the hard way.

About 18 months ago everybody's favourite Ex-Canadian Human Rights Commission employee Richard Warman launched one of his many, as in very many, SLAPP suits against yours truly for, among other dastardly deeds, linking to the "far-right web site http://www.steynonline.com/". Sheesh everybody knows Mark Steyn is controversial.

...Warman is suing me for $500,000.00 Dollars. A ridiculous amount for an equally ridiculous lawsuit. Nonetheless even nuisance suits such as this must be defended against. To date legal fees have run me about 10K. I've covered that from my own pocket. I am now asking for your help. I know times are hard for many of us but if every reader who visited daily were to contribute 5 or 10 dollars then that would go a long way to helping all of us out.

This is your fight too, well except for the lawyer stuff anyway;)

In an effort to advance the debate on the nation's most vital national security issues, the Center today also launches a pre-election campaign for midterm election candidates to embrace the "Peace Through Strength Platform," a ten-point program of national security priorities for America. Still, Style editor Ned Martel said he decided to yank it, after conferring with others, including Executive Editor Marcus W. Brauchli, because "it seemed a deliberate provocation without a clear message." He added that "the point of the joke was not immediately clear" and that readers might think that Muhammad was somewhere in the drawing.

Ironically, that seems to be the point of the joke the cartoonist was attempting to get across - that merely suggesting the Islamic prophet might be somewhere could invoke irrational sensitivity, thus making censorship ridiculous.

Even CAIR thought the excuse for censorship was weak, and they've perfected the art of offense over nothing:

"The reference [to Muhammad] in this case was so vague that I don't even know if offense comes into it," said Ibrahim Hooper, communications director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington-based group that combats stereotyping of Islam and Muslims.

Kudos to the Washington Post's ombudsman for scolding his own paper. Cowering to certain, violent-prone religious groups has gotten absurdly out-of-hand. It goes beyond ridiculous; It has gotten downright frightening.

The cartoon is question is below the fold, not to hide it, but because it is a rather long image.

The editors at the Washington Post so feared offending Muslims, they were concerned that the mere possibility of Muhammad being portrayed in a cartoon might provoke. Such submission is nothing short of dhimmitude. When cowards like those at the Washington Post preemptively and selectively stifle free speech so as not to offend certain groups, it undermines everything America stands for.

Some people give all to protect and defend our freedoms. Some give nothing.

How is Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst like a radical Muslim leader? Because he's decided to get all condemnatory about the play Corpus Christi, thus drawing unwelcome and extraordinary attention to a student production and causing nine plays to be canceled over safety concerns.

The play by Texas-raised and Tony-nominated playwright Terrence McNally, about a gay Christ-like figure called Joshua, was to be part of a performance of one-act plays performed by students at Tarleton State University[...]

[Dewhurst]Every citizen is entitled to the freedom of speech, but no one should have the right to use government funds or institutions to portray acts that are morally reprehensible to the vast majority of Americans.[...]

This debacle places Dewhurst in strange company, since McNally was the subject of a fatwa issued by Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammad of the UK Shari’ah Court because of the same play.[...]

At the time, Bakri made it clear that, since McNally lived in the Dar al-Harb (the non-Muslim world), the fatwa was not legally binding and individuals should not act on it. Which gives it the same strength as, say, a press release that is going to be potentially read by unhinged fundamentalists who might scare people into closing a play down.
