You don't say?

The Taliban in Afghanistan depend on Pakistan for support, even though they do not necessarily welcome it, a secret NATO report says, according to a journalist who has read it.

"It is a marriage of convenience," Times of London reporter Jerome Starkey said Wednesday, citing the report. The Taliban see Pakistan as manipulative, but they see no alternative to accepting its support, he said.

The Taliban are absolutely confident of victory, he said the report found, based on 27,000 interviews with over 4,000 detainees ranging from senior Taliban commanders to Afghan civilians.

They also include mid- and low-level Taliban, al Qaeda, and foreign fighters, he said.

The leaked NATO document revives the longstanding accusation that elements in Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency are aiding the insurgency in Afghanistan.

It says the ISI knows the whereabouts of all senior Taliban commanders, Starkey said.

When threatened with civil and criminal legal action by the Israel Law Center, Columbia president Lee C. Bollinger hastened to clarify that the event would not be held on campus. Nevertheless, the failure of Columbia students and faculty to recognize the moral repugnancy of appearing anywhere willingly in public with a man personally responsible for directing the vicious suppression of his own people’s struggle to be free, as well as his country’s Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) programs and global terrorist activities is troubling, to say the least.

Senator Patrick Leahy claims Shayetet 13 unit, undercover Duvdevan unit, and the Israel Air Force Shaldag unit are involved in human rights violations in occupied territories.

Leahy says legislation doesn't aim at Israel, but could hit it.

Senator Leahy does not discuss private conversations he has had for decades with Israeli leaders.

However, the Haaretz article contains significant inaccuracies. He has not proposed legislation to withhold U.S. aid to units of the Israel Defense Forces.

By way of general background about the Leahy Amendment, the law applies to U.S. aid to foreign security forces around the globe and is intended to be applied consistently across the spectrum of U.S. military aid abroad.

Remember recently the Homeland Insecurity erroneously, so they say, put Israel on a list of 36 nations which

“have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.”

STOCKHOLM -- Two explosions shook central Stockholm on Saturday, killing one person and injuring two, rescue officials said.

Police spokeswoman Petra Sjolander said a car exploded near Drottninggatan, a busy shopping street in the center of the city. Shortly afterward, a second explosion was heard higher up on the same street, and a man was found injured on the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

..."I saw some people crying, perhaps from the chock," he said. "There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him."

Gabiro said the blast was "quite loud" and he saw smoke coming from the area where the man was lying.

And it appears they wanted to blow up Christmas, excuse me, Cross Worshiping Shoppers.

Must have been those pesky Lutherans protesting the commercialization of Christmas?

Update II: Stockholm News has a complete report. Determined to be sudden Jihad Syndrome. They are reporting it as a Suicide Bombing.

Police bomb technicians examined the dead man's bag by using a bomb robot. Radiographs show that it contained a large quantity of nails and an unknown substance which is suspected to be explosives.

At least four ambulances were sent to the scene. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries, they were in the vicinity of the explosions.

The adjacent streets have been cordoned off.

According to witnesses, the man shouted something in Arabic before the bomb detonated.

The Swedish news agency TT reports that both them and the Swedish Security Service received a video-film only ten minutes before the explosions.

In the film a man addresses to "Sweden and the Swedish people". He,among else, refers to the Swedish silence on artist Lars Vilks paintings of Mohammed, the Swedish soldiers in Afghanistan, saying that "now shall your children, daughters and sisters die as our brothers and sisters and children are dying."

Could it be that the American people don't understand terrorism, or maybe they are too ignorant to understand the truth? We are at war against terrorism and to deny the fact that we are at war with radical Islam and the institution of the Sharia is nothing short of complete ignorance and foolishness.

Crises are exploding throughout the world. And the leader of the free world is making things worse.

On the Korean peninsula, North Korea just upended eight years of State Department obfuscation by showing a team of US nuclear scientists its collection of thousands of state-of-the-art centrifuges installed in its Yongbyon nuclear reactor.

And just to top off the show, as Stephen Bosworth, US President Barack Obama's point man on North Korea, was busily arguing that this revelation is not a crisis, the North fired an unprovoked artillery barrage at South Korea, demonstrating that actually, it is a crisis.

But the Obama administration remains unmoved. On Tuesday Defense Secretary Robert Gates thanked his South Korean counterpart, Kim Tae-young, for showing "restraint."

On Thursday, Kim resigned in disgrace for that restraint.

Washington's Muslim outreach. Pentagon inviting then thought 'moderate' Anwar al-Awlaki

Shortly after 9/11, the Pentagon invited the US-born imam to a luncheon with military brass -- even though he was an FBI suspect in the attack that had just killed almost 200 Pentagon workers.

Recently obtained internal Pentagon documents explain that the official who invited Awlaki was impressed by his "moderate" rhetoric. Years later, after Awlaki was linked to the Fort Hood massacre, the same official said she regretted arranging the meeting -- her excuse being that Awlaki is "either a good liar or . . . later something happened . . . I don't know."[It's called taqiyya...ed]

Eager to reach out to the Muslim community, the Pentagon gave the Muslim cleric the benefit of the doubt. This happens far too often in Washington: Established Muslim groups thought moderate and safe for outreach in fact prove to be dangerously and embarrassingly radical.

Indeed, the prosecution's list of unindicted co-conspirators in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror trial showed that virtually every major Islamic organization in America had raised funds that had landed in the hands of terrorists. The courts found "ample evidence" that many members of our Muslim establishment took part in a criminal conspiracy to support suicide bombers.

The list of 246 Islamic entities and leaders features the three largest Muslim groups in the country: the Islamic Society of North America, the North American Islamic Trust (which owns most US mosques) and the Council on American Islamic Relations -- the No. 1 Muslim advocacy group in Washington.

The Holy Land revelations prompted the FBI to sever ties with CAIR until it can demonstrate it's not a terror front. Yet the bureau is still doing business with its sister group, ISNA.

There are moderate Muslims who don't accept the interpretations that justify suicide bombing and other savagery -- but it's not as simple as the "religion of peace" propagandists would have us believe.[More..]

Muslim school director guilty of fraud

Anwar Sayed was remanded in custody on Thursday after a jury in the District Court found him guilty on two counts of fraud, having deliberated for nearly four hours.

They got along with neighbors, sometimes even cooking saffron rice and chicken for them. Ahmed enjoyed fishing, and his English-born wife, Sahar Mirza-Ahmed, was part of a group of "Hip Muslim Moms." Both were on social-networking sites.

When Mohamed Elibiary was appointed earlier this year to the Department of Homeland Security’s newly-formed Countering Violent Extremism Working Group, it was done quietly and without fanfare. It’s hard to believe that this silence was accidental, considering Elibiary’s appearance at a conference honoring Ayatollah Khomeini, his attacks on prosecution of terrorist fundraisers, his active promotion of jihadist ideology godfather Sayyid Qutb, and the threat he made against a Dallas Morning News journalist who repeatedly exposed his extremist views.

But none of that has stopped Mohamed Elibiary from promoting himself as a “de-radicalization” expert courted not only by Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security, but testifying before Congress earlier this year, giving briefings to the Congressional Research Service, and being hailed by the establishment media.

Perhaps the hardest thing for Elibiary to explain away is his sharing the podium with a rabid anti-American and anti-Jewish speaker who has publicly pledged his loyalty to the Iranian regime, but he has offered several fantastic explanations for appearing at the December 2004 conference honoring the life and works of the “Great Islamic Visionary” Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

The Dallas Morning News condemned the meeting and its high-profile speakers as a “disgrace”, Elibiary defended his appearance by claiming that he never knew the conference was to honor Khomeini and that he endorsed the conference out of “Muslim unity” and his hopes to present a “moderating counterpoint” – one that apparently was never offered.

File this under stealth jihad/domestic dhimmis . Gawd, I have been filing a Hell of a lot under both categories lately.

Ultimately, in response to repeated questions, a member of Rauf's New York Cordoba Initiative foundation e-mailed me Friday, saying that Rauf's trip to the Middle East, "in the near future," will be hosted by the U.S. government as part of an outreach program to "bring the message of moderation, peace and understanding."

At the State Department, which presumably will be spending taxpayer money on Rauf's tour, I have yet to receive confirmation or any other information about his program, despite three days of my repeated requests by phone and e-mail. Apparently it is taking a while for State's Bureau of Public Diplomacy to get "clearance" to release any details of this particular public outreach effort, though Rauf's wife says it has been in the works for months.

'There Is No Islam without Jihad'

Anas Zahed, a columnist for the Saudi government daily Al-Madina, criticized Arab and Muslim intellectuals who limit the term jihad to a personal, spiritual struggle and reject its interpretation as waging war against occupation, which he said is its principle meaning.

Sirin Middya, 24, a teacher with West Bengal’s first muslim university Alia, has refused to wear a burqa in classes. This has prevented her from taking classes for the last three months. There is no stipulation about burqa in the guidelines of the Alia University but the students’ union is adamant that teachers should wear burqas.

Middya who joined as a guest lecturer at the University in March, got the ‘diktat’ in the second week of April that she would not be allowed to attend the college if she did not wear burqa. The University Grants Commission does not prescribe any such dress code. The unfortunate part is that students are forcing women teachers to wear burqa. Middya’s argument is that she has nothing against burqas but if she wears one at all it should be out of her free will.

A 70-year-old civil rights lawyer was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison in a terrorism case by a judge who boosted her original sentence by nearly eight years after concluding she lied to a jury and lacked remorse.

Outside court after her original sentence, Stewart said she could do the prison time [2 yrs - ed note] standing on her head.

She was convicted of providing material support to a terrorist organization for letting Abdel-Rahman communicate with a man who relayed messages to senior members of an Egyptian-based terrorist organization.

Abdel-Rahman is serving a life sentence for conspiracies to blow up New York City landmarks and assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Stewart represented him at his 1995 trial.

The imam behind a proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea this week.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website.

Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movemen, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel's blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday[...]

Efforts to reach Imam Abdul Rauf yesterday for comment were unsuccessful.

Deborah Burlingame, the sister of the American Airlines pilot whose hijacked plane struck the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, said the indirect ties of the imam to the protesters who confronted Israeli forces Monday were not surprising.

"I think it goes to show he is not the man he represents himself to be. We have two Imam Rauf," she said.

"We have the anti-Israel, anti-democratic imam, and we have the smiling, soft-spoken moderate Muslim who says 'Why can't we all get along?[More..]

What makes this more interesting, the IDF audio of the radio communications between the hate flotillas and the Israeli Navy, a person was heard to say: "we’re helping Arabs go against the US, don’t forget 9/11".

0. Islamist extremists recruited by the IHH (in Turkish Insani Yardim Vakfi) masquerading as "peace activists" attacked Israeli soldiers with knives, clubs, chains, stun grenades and firearms when the soldiers boarded the IHH owned and operated vessel Mavi Marmaris as it was attempted to violate the Israeli blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza.

1. On 31 May, 2010, the Israeli Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) released a brief report - summarizing a CIA report declassified after 9/11 - which documented the terrorist connections of the IHH. The text of the ITIC report is reproduced below.

2. Subsequent to the attack on the Israeli soldiers and the resulting death of the aforementioned "peace activists", the ITIC removed the report from their website. A more recent report by ITIC says "The ITIC has reliable information indicating that in the past IHH had links with global jihad and Islamic terrorist elements in the Middle East. As part of its connections with the global jihad it supported jihadist terrorist networks in Bosnia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechnya."

3. The only reasonable explanation for the disappearance of the report is that the CIA itself is seeking to shield IHH, and in turn the Erdogan government of Turkey, from further embarrassment. The wisdom of such a decision is questionable given that the report itself has been declassified (and if I recall correctly it has been entered as evidence in US court proceedings) - I'm sure someone will eventually cough up a copy. Whether the CIA is acting on its own initiative or at the behest of the Obama administration is the only real question here. I'm inclined to suspect the former.

4. The Sticky Fingers Department here at Internet Haganah has acquired a copy of a report by the IDF, substantially similar to the ITIC's more recent report, only the IDF report still cites the CIA as the source of the intelligence linking the IHH with global jihad elements. A copy of that report will also be found below.

5. Evan Kohlmann, writing under the auspices of the Danish Institute for International Studies, authored a paper in 2006 further documenting the terrorist and extremist connections of the IHH in a report titled "The Role of Islamic Charities in International Terrorist Recruitment and Financing". Pages 10-14 dealing with the IHH will be found below, as I consider it likely that the Danes will fall into line in defense of NATO ally Turkey on this issue

Years later, Bulent Yildrim and the IHH also played a key role in galvanizing anti-Western sentiment among Turkish Muslims in the lead-up to the 2003 war in Iraq[...]

In mid-2004, IHH issued an English- language news update from its representatives on the ground in Fallujah: “the women and children shot by [U.S.] snipers now rest in a football field turned into a graveyard for the brave freedom fighters who resisted the invasion… The American troops [turned back] the injured being transported to hospitals by shooting at the ambulances.

A former Burlington Coat Factory building on Park Place is being eyed as the future home of the Cordoba House, sponsored by the American Society for Muslim Advancement, in partnership with the Cordoba Initiative. Community Board 1 has reportedly already passed a resolution in favor of the proposal.

DENVER — A religious watchdog group says a cross and religious motto on the emblem of an Army hospital in Colorado violate the constitutional requirement for separation of church and state and should be removed.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation asked the Army this week to change the emblem of Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, outside Colorado Springs.

The emblem says “Pro deo et humanitate” or “For God and humanity.”

Wollman said the cross, which has a pointed base, is both an emblem of mercy and a symbol dating to the Middle Ages, when pilgrims carried a cross with a spiked base to mark the site of a camp.

Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said that’s a reference to the Crusades and could embolden U.S. enemies who want to portray the war on terror as a Christian war on Islam.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled a planned trip to Washington next week for President Barack Obama’s 47-country nuclear security summit conference.

He made the decision after learning Egypt and Turkey intended to raise the issue of Israel’s presumed nuclear arsenal at the conference, a senior government official said on Friday.

"This conference is about nuclear terrorism," Netanyahu told reporters on Wednesday. "And I'm not concerned that anyone will think that Israel is a terrorist regime. Everybody knows a terrorist and rogue regime when they see one, and believe me they see quite a few -- around Israel."

She[Liz Cheney] criticized the administration for the "shabby reception" given Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visited Washington recently, which she deemed "disgraceful."

"President Obama is playing a reckless game if he continues down the path of diminishing the United States' ties to Israel," she said, deeming the world safer when there is "no daylight" between the two countries.

A high-level Arab source tells Fox News that Arab countries had no intention of raising Israel's undisclosed nuclear program at next week's Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.

The diplomat, who is involved in the conference asked not to be named, said this was a way for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dodge President Obama and avoid committing to peace talks.

At the time, Bakri made it clear that, since McNally lived in the Dar al-Harb (the non-Muslim world), the fatwa was not legally binding and individuals should not act on it. Which gives it the same strength as, say, a press release that is going to be potentially read by unhinged fundamentalists who might scare people into closing a play down.

· Your advocacy of what amount to open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens;
· And your outreach to individuals and organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood in the name of GOP “inclusiveness.”

You have claimed that those who disagreed with you on these recommendations were “scaremongering,” “racists” and “bigots.”

It has been troubling to me that your policy preferences and efforts to advance them may have contributed to a serious diminution of the amount and quality of attention given to these and related subjects in the Conservative Action Project’s Mount Vernon Statement, the Conservative Political Action Conference’s program and the choices available to respondents as part of the development of the Contract From America.

It was, therefore, heartening to me to learn of the enthusiasm you have expressed together with The Nation’s Katrina vanden Heuvel for the idea of debate as a means whereby arguments can be “tested and honed.” Rarely has it been more necessary than now, in the run-up to a potentially pivotal national election, to have a rigorous evaluation of the sorts of ideas you espouse and promote with respect to our national security and their suitability for American conservatives and Republicans.

Accordingly, I formally challenge you to a public debate about those arguments in a mutually agreeable forum. I believe this should take place at the earliest possible moment, given the importance of sorting out whether your policy recommendations should be adopted or rejected by the Republican Party and/or the conservative movement.

But I can't believe any rational person would want to end the Patriot Act. That, like closing Gitmo, is more about symbolism over substance. I often get students pissed off about the Patriot Act. When challenged to specify what in it they find distasteful or anti-libertarian they can never -- and I mean never -- name a single thing in it correctly which takes away some fundamental liberty.

They hate the idea of the Patriot Act just like they hate the idea of Guantanamo Bay because both are symbols of a war with Islamist aggression that they believe should not be fought. Or they hate the idea of a police state and erroneously believe that we have one because, gosh, 9/11 was a false flag operation wasn't it and aren't Arabs routinely rounded up and kept in a secret concentration camp somewhere?
