Jesse Morton, a convert to Islam also known as Younus Abdullah Mohammad, plans to appear in federal court in Alexandria, Va., on Thursday, his lawyer told Politico. He will plead guilty to conspiracy, communicating threats, and internet stalking, Politico reported. Each felony carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.

WFAA:

Maj. Troy Gilbert took off in his F-16 in November 2006 for a mission near Baghdad.

Now that U.S. forces have left Iraq, his family wonders who will look for his body to bring it home to Texas.

The 22nd combat mission for the Texas Tech grad would earn him the Distinguished Flying cross with valor, one of the nation's highest military awards.
He's credited with saving about 20 American commandos under fire.

"They say he was very calm," said the hero's mom, Kaye Gilbert. "He told this young man on the ground, 'I will not leave you.'"

According to witnesses, Maj. Gilbert destroyed one gun truck, then turned sharply to attack a second.

"Of course, he was already too low to begin with to do a strafing run," said his father, Ronnie Gilbert. "He went ahead and did it."

Kaye finished her husband's thought: "...because they were calling him from the ground saying, 'We're dying down here.' And when someone says, 'I'm dying down here,' you do everything you can."

The jet's tail hit the ground. Maj. Gilbert died instantly.
Later, when Ronnie and Kaye Gilbert learned why their son flew so low, it would only add to the cruelty of their ordeal.

It began just hours after the crash.

Insurgents posted a video on the Internet, showing men walking on the wings of the shattered jet. The cockpit canopy lay off to the side.

Three-hundred yards away, the pilot's broken body lay at the end of his unopened parachute. By the time U.S. forces reached the plane, Maj. Gilbert's body was gone.

The cockpit contained a tiny bit of tissue — enough for confirmation of death and burial at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Taliban in Afghanistan depend on Pakistan for support, even though they do not necessarily welcome it, a secret NATO report says, according to a journalist who has read it.

"It is a marriage of convenience," Times of London reporter Jerome Starkey said Wednesday, citing the report. The Taliban see Pakistan as manipulative, but they see no alternative to accepting its support, he said.

The Taliban are absolutely confident of victory, he said the report found, based on 27,000 interviews with over 4,000 detainees ranging from senior Taliban commanders to Afghan civilians.

They also include mid- and low-level Taliban, al Qaeda, and foreign fighters, he said.

The leaked NATO document revives the longstanding accusation that elements in Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence agency are aiding the insurgency in Afghanistan.

It says the ISI knows the whereabouts of all senior Taliban commanders, Starkey said.

A member of the newly elected Egyptian parliament has called for al Qaeda's emir to return to the country "with his head held high and safely."

Aboud al Zomor, who served as the first emir of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and was later imprisoned for his role in President Anwar Sadat's assassination, said that he welcomes Ayman al Zawahiri's return to Egypt and that he would be given safe haven, according to a report published yesterday in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat. The report was translated from Arabic by the Foundation For Defense of Democracies.

"When asked if he saw any danger in al Zawahiri's return, al Zomor said that 'he was not a threat to Egypt, the likes of al Zawahiri differed with the previous regime and they were only a danger for this regime and not for Egypt, and now he is liberating Afghanistan and Iraq...'" the report stated. Zomor also lamented that the US would be opposed to Zawahiri's return to Egypt.

Zomor denied having direct contact with members of al Qaeda, and claims to have renounced violence.

"I've distanced myself from that currently because I took the political line and closed the page on the past, as a result of which doors to peaceful action opened for us," he told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat.

Zomor is one of the primary founders of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the terrorist group that merged with al Qaeda. Zawahiri succeeded Zomor as the group's emir and presided over its merger with bin Laden's terror group in the 1990s.

Why I'll be darned, the Pakistanis are good for something!

AP: Moeed Abdul Salam didn't descend into radical Islam for lack of other options. He grew up in a well-off Texas household, attended a pricey boarding school and graduated from one of the state's most respected universities.

But the most unlikely thing about his recruitment was his family: Two generations had spent years promoting interfaith harmony and combatting Muslim stereotypes in their hometown and even on national television.

Salam rejected his relatives' moderate faith and comfortable life, choosing instead a path that led him to work for al-Qaida. His odyssey ended late last year in a middle-of-the-night explosion in Pakistan. The 37-year-old father of four was dead after paramilitary troops stormed his apartment.

It also stresses the importance that al-Qaeda places on internet propaganda and communications.

He established diffuse Jihadi media groups and trained his brothers who followed the path of the Jihadi media. He administrated many websites and Jihadi forums, and he guided and planned and attacked the enemy masterfully. He led the Jihadi forums and websites of splendor, attacking the strongholds of arrogance and infidelity, weakening the determination of its troops, and sabotaging their great media plans”

In addition, it's nice that he was killed in Pakistan. It saves listening to all that bullshit crap about targeting and killing al-Qaeda members who also happen to be US citizens.

British police say 22 people have been arrested outside of the US embassy in London during a protest over the use of military drones in Pakistan.

Scotland Yard confirmed the arrests on Friday at the demonstration organised by a group calling itself United Ummah.

The demonstration was advertised as a gathering that would include Friday prayers outside of the US embassy to draw attention to "the murder of Muslims with drones".

News is starting to leak about the arrest this weekend of a New York City man who planned to bomb police and military facilities. The NY Post reports:

The NYPD and Manhattan DA’s office have arrested a terror suspect who was planning to bomb city police facilities and US military sites, where he plotted to target returning war personnel and the families who gathered to welcome them home, The Post has learned.

The suspect, who lives in Manhattan, was arrested after he actually purchased bomb-making materials, sources said. He’d been on the authorities’ radar for about a year, the sources said.

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly where he planned to attack.

We can report here exclusively at PJM that the man arrested is Jose Pimentel of Harlem. On his Facebook page he describes himself as:

OSLO, Norway — The accused ringleader of a terror plot in Norway has rejected charges that he conspired with al-Qaida to attack a Danish newspaper, saying he was planning a solo raid against the Chinese Embassy in Oslo.

...Davud, who came to Norway in 1999 and became a citizen eight years later, said he traveled to Iran in January 2009 and had contact with al-Qaida there about receiving training. He said he rejected that option because he didn’t want to work under al-Qaida’s leadership, and instead sought explosives training from a “private group” that he refused to identify.

A million dollars worth of Libyan anti-tank missiles were seized.

Algiers, 6 Oct. (AKI) - Algeria says it killed eight Al-Qaeda terrorists and wounded another three in a military operation along the border with Niger, according to a local news report.

Algerian authorities said the operation dismantled a major network that smuggled arms from Libya. Four people were arrested, including some Libyan citizens.

Somalia's government says it believes a British tourist kidnapped in Kenya is being held by the Islamist insurgent group al-Shabab.

Judith Tebbutt, 56, was kidnapped by gunmen from a remote Kenyan resort at Kiwayu, near Lamu island.

The gang also shot dead her 58-year-old husband, David Tebbutt.

Somalia's defence minister, Hussein Arab Issa, said Mrs Tebbutt, from Hertfordshire, had been taken across the border into Somalia by al-Shabab.

Abu Yahya al-Libi (al-Libi)
Al-Libi is a senior al-Qa’ida leader and commander in Pakistan responsible for the supervision of other senior al-Qa’ida officials. Referred to as al-Qa’ida’s propaganda chief, al-Libi is one of the group’s most prominent public figures and plays a key role in al-Qa’ida’s media operations. As of April 2010, al-Libi had released sixty-eight messages on behalf of al-Qa’ida, and was second in public visibility only to Ayman al-Zawahiri. As an authoritative voice for al-Qa’ida, al-Libi has urged Pakistanis to attack their government.

Al-Libi was also deputy to now-deceased al-Qa’ida senior leader Atiyah ‘Abd al-Rahman, who was killed in an explosion last month. As of 2010, al-Libi commanded a group of al-Qa’ida fighters and provided financial assistance to al-Qa’ida fighters in Afghanistan. Al-Libi was also a field commander in Afghanistan and an instructor at an al-Qa’ida training camp.

‘Abd al-Rahman Ould Muhammad al-Husayn Ould Muhammad Salim (Salim)
Salim, also known as Younis al-Mauritani, is a Pakistan-based senior al-Qa’ida leader who was in charge of al-Qa’ida’s external operations as of mid-2010. He participated in the formation of the al-Qa’ida affiliate organization al-Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). As of late 2010, Usama bin Laden devoted most of al-Qaida’s funds to a plan developed by Salim to ostensibly damage the economy of Europe. As of mid-2010, Salim was in Pakistan to speak to individuals regarding their participation in al-Qa'ida operations in Europe.

Salim joined the Salafist Group for Call and Combat (GSPC) in 2001. He had served as a communications link between the GSPC and al-Qa’ida and was sent by GSPC leaders to Pakistan to forge the 2007 merger with al-Qa’ida that formed AQIM.

As of late 2009, Salim provided weapons and explosives training to GSPC members in Mali, including the use of AK-47 assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades. In 2006, Salim provided basic weapons training on the AK-47 assault rifle to GSPC members. Salim has fought for the GSPC in Mauritania, and has been wanted in Mauritania since late 2009 for planning a 2005 GSPC attack against the Mauritanian military and for forging the merger between the GSPC and al-Qa’ida.

The Pakistani military reported on Monday that Salim was arrested near Quetta, Pakistan.

Mustafa Hajji Muhammad Khan (Khan)
Khan has acted as an al-Qa’ida facilitator, courier and operative since at least 2003. As of 2010, Khan facilitated activities for senior Pakistan-based al-Qa’ida operatives. Khan has also been active in facilitating the travel of al-Qa’ida members, including escorting an individual to meet with another al-Qa’ida member in 2009. On al-Qa’ida’s behalf, Khan recruited a facilitator who helped him move people and money between Gulf countries and Pakistan. In 2007, Khan helped al-Qa’ida reestablish logistic support networks in Pakistan.

Khan once served as a messenger between al-Qa’ida and former al-Qa’ida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. In 2003, he accepted a senior al-Qa’ida leader’s request to serve as an al-Qa’ida representative to al-Zarqawi and deliver a message to al-Zarqawi in Iraq. Khan attempted to deliver a letter from al-Zarqawi to Usama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, but was captured with the letter, which never reached bin Laden or al-Zawahiri.

Pakistani Taliban claim they did it

Police are investigating whether a twin suicide bomb attack on the home of a top paramilitary official that killed at least 23 people in the southwestern city of Quetta on Wednesday is linked to the recent arrest of three top Al Qaeda operatives in the city.

Brigadier Farrukh Shahzad, deputy head of the Frontier Corps paramilitary force for Baluchistan province, survived the morning attack but his wife was killed, Quetta police officials said. More than 50 people were injured in the blasts.

The attack began when a suicide bomber in a sports utility vehicle packed with explosives rammed his car into a convoy of Frontier Corps officers outside Shahzad's house, triggering a massive explosion, police said. Moments later, a second attacker rushed into Shahzad's house, hurling grenades inside before detonating his suicide bomb vest.

Shahzad was seriously injured in the attack, police said. Several senior Frontier Corps officers were killed or injured. Police identified the suicide bomber on foot as Ahmad Gul, a 21-year-old Afghan refugee living in the northwest Pakistani city of Peshawar. His identification card was found amid severed body parts found at the blast site.

WASHINGTON — Al Qaeda's second-in-command, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, has been killed in Pakistan, delivering another big blow to a terrorist group that the U.S. believes to be on the verge of defeat, a senior Obama administration official said Saturday.

The Libyan national who was the network's former operational leader rose to al Qaeda's No. 2 spot after the U.S. killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden during a raid on his Pakistan compound in May.

Al-Rahman was killed Aug. 22 in the lawless Pakistani tribal region of Waziristan, according to the official, who insisted on anonymity to discuss intelligence issues.

The official would not say how al-Rahman was killed. But his death came on the same day that a CIA drone strike was reported in Waziristan. Such strikes by unmanned aircraft are Washington's weapon of choice for killing terrorists in the mountainous, hard-to-reach area along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Al-Rahman, believed to be in his mid-30s, was a close confidant of bin Laden and once served as bin Laden's emissary to Iran.

Ayman Zawahiri Next?
A U.S. official told CBS News al-Rahman spoke on behalf of both Osama bin Laden and Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri, and was the one affiliates "knew and trusted."

The Haqqani Network has been at the forefront of insurgent activity in Afghanistan, responsible for many high-profile attacks.

Abdul Rahim Ba’asyir, who may be in his early 30s, was allegedly part of al-Qaeda’s media outfit in Afghanistan and may have helped record the last wills and testaments of the 9/11 hijackers

Sudbury Patch:

Tarek Mehanna, the Sudbury resident accused in a 2010 indictment of conspiring to kill American troops in Iraq, will ask a judge today to dismiss some of the charges accusing him of providing support to al Qaeda, the Associated Press is reporting in the Sacramento Bee.

The report says Mehanna's lawyers will argue today at Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston that most of his activities are protected by the First Amendment in relation to free speech.

Arrested Blogger Identified: Tarek Mehanna

Like clockwork, Mehanna's family defends him as a nice boy who just completed his graduate work to become a pharmacist. What his family may or may not know is that Mehanna goes by the online handle "Abu Sayaba" and runs the "Iskandari" website which is devoted to promoting the Salafi ideology.

For instance, Tarek "Abu Sayaba" Mehanna has, literally, dozens of posts recounting the words of Abdullah Azzam, the intellectual backbone of al Qaeda. Also among his favorite authors are Sayyid Qutb.

In addition to friends like Maldanado who has been convicted on terrorism related charges, Mehanna's online buddies include:

Shades of Swords, who glorifies the executed Bali bombers as martyrs.
Inshallahshaheed, who we have an entire category devoted to and who claims he personally doesn't go off to fight the jihad because "it's hard" and who recently has set up his own media division in support of terrorist organizations.
Jihad Fields Are Calling, who's name pretty much sums it up.

And so on and so forth. In other words, the people he associated himself with online are either a) actively engaged in violent jihad; or b) actively engaged in supporting violent jihad through the distribution of terrorist propaganda.

His chances of having this dismissed runs about the same as former Revolution Muslim Emir Zack Chesser who plead guilty to Material Support for similar dissemination and advocacy for al-Qaeda.

I put them at zero/zilch/nada unless his lawyer feels he's gotten a sympathetic liberal judge. Its clear he agreed with al-Qaeda, tried to join the Jihad and wrote many times in support of al-Qaeda and its war against the United States.

It's about time the Treasury Dept. put American traitor Omar Hammami (aka Abu Mansour Al-Amriki) on the list. I wonder if this is a result of Rep Kings hearing this past week on al-Shabbab.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Treasury is putting two members of the Somali insurgent group al-Shabab on a terrorist blacklist.

The move against Omar Hammami and Hassan Mahat Omar would freeze any assets they hold in the United States and lock them out of the U.S. financial system.

The US Treasury Department announced on Friday that it is imposing financial sanctions on a Kenyan described as both a key figure in Somalia's al Shabaab insurgency and the leader of a mosque in Nairobi's Eastleigh estate.

Hassan Mahat Omar is said by the department to have decision-making authority regarding the internal political and operational affairs of al Shabaab, which the United States terms a terrorist organisation.

Mr Omar as well as other top militants use the Eastleigh mosque to "raise funds, recruit and disseminate propaganda on behalf of Shabaab,"

Bill Roggio: Jihadist with same name as Zawahiri's deputy reported killed

A jihadist who shares the same name as Ayman al Zawahir's deputy and Osama bin Laden's son-in-law is said to have been killed, according to a post on an al Qaeda-linked forum. The report is unconfirmed, however.

Earlier today, a poster on the Al Fida' Forum claimed that an operative named Muhammad Abdallah Hasan Abu al Khayr was killed, according to a translation provided by the SITE Intel Group. The online jihadist who posted the eulogy, which is in the form of a poem, did not say where or when Khayr was killed, nor did he say if this was the same Muhammad Abdallah Hasan Abu al Khayr who is a senior deputy to current al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri and who is also a son-in-law of slain al Qaeda emir Osama bin Laden, SITE noted.

Three photos accompanied the post that announced Khayr's death. SITE also provided a photograph of the Khayr who is associated with Zawahiri and bin Laden, from his Saudi passport from the 1990s [see image above]. The committee report says Al-Shabab had formed “alarming operational ties” with al-Qaeda and its Yemeni affiliate, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). It said American recruits had been trained by senior al-Qaeda operatives.

“With Al-Shabab’s large cadre of American jihadis and unquestionable ties to al-Qaeda, particularly its alliance with AQAP, we must face the reality that Al-Shabab is a growing threat to our homeland,” Rep. King said.

But ranking committee member Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, disagreed, saying Al-Shabab had never attacked the United States. “Al-Shabab does not appear to present any danger to this homeland.” He said most of the Americans who had joined the group would be identified and arrested upon their return.

But Michelle Malkin is reporting that the Taliban later denied their own press release, claiming phone hacking by US intelligence.

KABUL: Two Taliban spokesmen said their mobile phones had been hacked and false text messages sent out on Wednesday reporting the death of the movement’s supreme leader Mullah Omar, who is still alive.

“This is the work of American intelligence, and we will take revenge on the telephone network providers,” said spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, when contacted by Reuters to confirm the veracity of one text message.

The messages came from phone numbers used in the past by both Mujahid and a second spokesman Mohammad Qari Yousuf and said “spiritual Leader Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid has died” and “May Allah bless his soul”.

Really I fail to see a down side in this, either Mullah Omar is dead or...... the Taliban are so effing owned on the internet its not even funny.

What am I saying? Yes it is funny.

In fact I can't stop laughing..... really.

Update: It appears the Taliban have totally lost control of their website. The "fake Mullah Omar" announcement still appears on their English version of the new website which is hosted in the Netherlands.

Darn you'd have thought they'd have been safe there.

Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) said the hearing will take place on July 27. It is titled, "Al Shabaab: Recruitment and Radicalization within the Muslim American Community and the Threat to the Homeland."

“At this hearing, the third in a series, we will examine Somalia-based terrorist organization al-Shabaab’s ongoing recruitment, radicalization, and training of young Muslim-Americans and al-Shabaab’s linking up with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)," King said in a statement announcing the hearing.

Urban terrorism in India has become synonymous with a group calling itself Indian Mujahedeen (IM) that claimed responsibility for at least four blasts this year. Added to its attacks in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and New Delhi, the latest target seems to be Mumbai on July 13.

Police believe that improvised explosive devices (IED) were used to trigger the blasts which coincided with the birthday of Ajmal Kasab, the lone Pakistani gunman in the 2008 Mumbai attack, an operation for which he has been sentenced to death. The latest terror attack, which claimed about 20 lives, comes only hours after two other suspected Indian Mujahedeen operatives, who provided vehicles used in the 2008 serial blasts in Gujarat that killed 56 people, were arrested in a Mumbai suburb by the Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).

Indian analysts believe that the IM emerged from militant elements in the Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) supported by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jihad-Islami (HUJI-B). SIMI and IM endorse the goals of Osama bin Laden and also seek to provoke an Islamist revolution by India’s Muslims. SIMI/IM has long-standing ties to global Islamist organizations, including LeT and Harkat-ul-Jihad-Islami (HUJI), as well as Pakistani intelligence agencies.

Some have suggested that IM does not exist at all as an independent group but is instead an effort by Pakistan’s external intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to project an Indian face to the activities of Pakistan-based militant groups.

It's deja vu all over again in the Phillippines.

Suspicion fell on the notorious terrorist group Abu Sayyaf, which has been blamed for ransom kidnappings, beheadings and bombings in the last two decades, or a Muslim rebel commander whose group has been linked to previous abductions. The 400-plus Abu Sayyaf militants, who are fighting for an Islamist state in the predominantly Christian nation, are holding three other kidnap victims, including a child, as part of desperate efforts to raise funds, according to the Philippine army. City police chief Edwin de Ocampo told reporters that the gunmen stormed a beach house on Tictabon island and took three tourists. De Ocampo identified them as Gerfa Yeatts Lunsmann, 50, her son Kevin Eric, and a nephew, Romnick Jackaria, 19.

We pray for their safe release, and the tortuous, painful deaths of their kidnappers. Inshallah.

A joint Afghan and coalition force apprehended a senior figure from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and two of his associates during a nighttime operation Monday in Kunduz city, NATO said

It said the militant, who also supported the Taliban network, had planned attacks against the Afghan National Police, as well as various suicide bombings and assaults against other Afghan security forces.[More]

Osama bin Laden's Heir as Leader of Al-Qaeda

7. Al-Zawahiri's involvement in terrorism in the 1990s did not focus only on the Egyptian arena. In the middle of the decade, instructed by bin Laden, he constructed Al-Qaeda terrorist networks in Britain and the United States, strengthened the radical Islamic militias in the Balkans, supported radical Islamic groups in Somalia and Ethiopia and aided the rebels in Chechnya. In 1996, with two other operatives, he tried to enter Chechnya and was arrested by the Russian security forces, only to be released "for lack of evidence."

8. At the beginning of 1998 al-Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden founded the International Islamic Front for Jihad against Jews and Crusaders. It was an umbrella network for Al-Qaeda, the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and various radical Islamic organizations operating in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kashmir and the Philippines. Al-Zawahiri became bin Laden's deputy in the Front and second in command of Al-Qaeda. Update: I'm getting conflicting reports, Both NBC and CBS are reporting that a "device" was found and rendered safe. Other reports at this time do not confirm any device.

Ozarks First: CBS News - A suspicious item found inside a vehicle near the Pentagon has been "disrupted" and "rendered safe," a law enforcement official has told CBS News.

The U.S. Park Police have in custody a man believed to be connected to the item, according to Park Police spokesman Sgt. David Schlosser.

The incident began when a man -- believed to be a naturalized US citizen who came to the US from Ethiopia -- was found in the nearby Arlington National Cemetery overnight Thursday. The man was arrested at the scene.

Also its being reports that a notebook and suspicious devices were located in various places, although not in the car itself at this point.

Authorities reportedly found al Qaeda-related statements, a backpack initially believed to contain ammonium nitrate, and spent 9mm shells at the scene, ABC's "Good Morning America" reported.

A notebook containing words including "al Qaeda" and Taliban" was found at the scene, FOX News Channel reported.

CBS News reported that the arrested man was suspected of planting several suspicious devices around the Pentagon, the Arlington National Cemetery and the Iwo Jima Memorial.

US Park Police Sergeant David Schlosser said at a news conference early Friday law enforcement authorities were conducting sweeps of the Pentagon, the cemetery and the memorial.

"We're pretty early in this right now so were going to be doing sweeps. We're coordinating our efforts to make sure that the entire area is safe," Schlosser said.

DEVELOPING: The man in custody for carrying a backpack with "suspicious items and products" inside Arlington National Cemetery overnight is a U.S. Marine Corps reservist, military and law enforcement sources tell Fox News.

Yonathan Melaku, a Lance Corporal Marine corps reservist who lives in Virginia and who is Muslim, has been identified as the suspect in custody, Fox News has learned.

Sources close to the investigation also said a notebook believed to belong to the man was found containing threatening phrases like "Al Qaeda," "Taliban rule" and "defeated coalition forces."[More]

I'm not sure what to make of this guy yet. Given that he was arrested in a string of car vandalisms, what does that say about his intentions? I'm not sure.

Especially now that "nothing suspicious" (h/t: Doug Powers) was found in the car and that whatever was in his backpack was "inert". Dry run? Playing jihadi at night by himself in a cemetery? An al Qaeda super-spooky seance? I really don't know.

Maybe he is a lone wolf carrying out the aspirations of al Qaeda which hopes to provoke small scale operations. But if that is the case then it is our good fortune that most of the kinds of people susceptible to such provocation are morons.

Announcement showed up on al Qaeda supporting forum

CAIRO -- An Al Qaeda-affiliated website says Egypt-born Ayman al-Zawahri has succeeded Usama bin laden as head of the terror network.

Bin Laden was killed in a U.S. commando raid in Pakistan last month. Al-Zawahri, who will turn 60 next week, had been bin Laden's second in command.

Somalia's Minister of Interior and National Security, Abdi Shakur Sheikh Hasan Farah, has died after a suicide attack at his home, Minister of Information Abdikarim Jama told terror free somalia.

The minister was rushed to Banadir Hospital with serious injuries, but has since died following the explosion at his home in Soobe near KM4 junction.

"The minister died at this moment because he was seriously injured,” Nadiya Mohamed, a nurse in the hospital told terror free somalia.

Militant Islamist group Al-Shabaab is claiming responsibility for the attack, while a police source confirmed to Somalia Report that the bomber was the minister's niece, who came from abroad and had been "brainwashed" by al-Shabaab.
Sources reported that the minister's brother, Abdiqadir Hirsi Qaaf, was the father of the female bomber. The girl had apparently been in the minister's home around noon asking him to send her to university.[More]
