Project Gunrunner Tied Directly To Obama
Via BigGovernment
In a Dec. 3, 2009, article about the announced resignation of Deputy Attorney General David Ogden, the Wall Street Journal’s Evan Perez wrote that Ogden hasn’t been identified with any major Justice Department policy initiatives. Now that this C-SPAN video from March 24, 2009, is making the rounds anew, it appears Ogden’s name — and that of President Barack Obama — is going to be associated with one now.

MSM certainly isn't going to be covering this, Obama's their pet. I also find it strange I have a hard time embedding some of the Oversight Committee videos from YouTube. Yesterday it took several tries to get the code. I have no problem with other YouTube videos, only those connected to Rep Issa's Oversight Committee on Fast & Furious.
In 2009 former CEO of Google Eric Schmidt was named Obi Ones tech czar. He still works for Google as executive chairman and acts as an advisor to co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Try searching on Google for "Googles CEO Obama's new tech czar", or "Eric Schmidt" instead of Googles CEO. All you will get is Schmidt not taking the job. Google owns YouTube..nuff said.
Back to the point of the post, Obama said he knew nothing about Fast & Furious, Holder said he knew nothing about Fast & Furious. Bullsh*t. Let them try to lie their way out of this but unfortunately it will be a uphill battle, they are Democrats and medias darlings.
Also, wodun linked to Gateway Pundit's post regarding Project Castaway
Rep Bilirakis (R-FL) sent out a letter today to Attorney General EriHolder demanding answers on Operation Castaway. There are reports that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tampa Field Division, ran a gun-running investigation that was walking guns to Honduras using the techniques and tactics identical to Fast and Furious. 1,000 of those guns were sold to MS13 buyers.Wow, just wow.

GOP Senators Grassley, Issa Request DOJ Hand Over Documents On Operation Fast And Furious, Name 12 Senior Justice Officials In Letter…
(The Hill) — Republican lawmakers have requested correspondence records, including emails and handwritten notes, from a dozen senior Justice Department officials who may have been involved in a controversial gun-tracking operation.ZIP has the names of the senior officials, be sure and read it all.The Hill has obtained a letter sent from Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.) to Attorney General Eric Holder this week in which they ask for communication records from 12 senior officials with the Department of Justice (DOJ), including James Cole, the recently confirmed Deputy Attorney General.
Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, are investigating the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) botched operation “Fast and Furious,” which sold thousands of weapons to known and suspected straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels
Meanwhile, Obi One is doing this:

It Begins: Dems to spin Fast & Furious probe into gun-control rally
The top Democrat on a House investigative committee is broadening an inquiry into a botched gun-tracing operation, called Operation Fast and Furious, to include a look at American gun laws. The heat is on Obama/Holder and Rep Cummings is leading the charge to try and divert ones attention away from who in this administration authorized Operation Fast & Furious.Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the leading Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released a report early Thursday titled “Outgunned,” that details how Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents say gun laws need to be tightened for them to fight organized crime along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Self-Defense Illegal In NC Town (Bumped)
Update: III Just as I expected, NBC17 pulled the video. I guess the Garner government pressured them to remove it. But thanks to another Jawa, I was able to upload a copy. Please feel free to mirror as I am certain NBC17 will claim copyright and have it removed.
Update: Video added.
Update II: Quoted article has been updated.
Garner, NC has a zero-tolerance policy against discharging a weapon inside city limits. Self-defense is no excuse (emphasis mine):
GARNER, N.C. -- Garner Police have cited Perry Whitaker for violating the town's gun ordinance for shooting at a prowler on Wednesday. The Garner police responded to a break-in in progress at a home on Nellane Drive. Whitaker told them one of the prowlers had fired a shot at him and he retuned fire with his shotgun.
Despite the fact that he was trying to protect himself, police cited Whitaker, 26, of Nellane Drive for violating the gun ordinance.
They say there is no self-defense exception in Garner’s gun ordinance. Only a law enforcement officer may fire a weapon with-in town limits according to the local code.
Local news reports have indicated that the suspects actually fired at Whitaker first. It is also being reported on the television news that Whitaker is a former police officer.
NBC17 doesn't have the video on their site yet, but I'll keep an eye out and update when (if) it does.

WH Set To Throw ATF's Melson Under Bus..But Anti-Gun Zealot To Take His Place?

[Michelle Malkin] Getting rid of Melson is a start — but this one move alone ain’t gonna cure ATF’s problems. It’s going to take a bigger bus. Corruptocrat AG Eric Holder knew about the program[Operation Fast & Furious ie Gunwalker..ed] much earlier than he testified to, Rep. Issa says, and he has been an obstruction to the Gunrunner probe since day one.JaWannaB, First Bigot Deluxe and ST gave info on two blogs regarding this:And then there’s the man waiting in the wings to replace Melson — either as acting director or as permanent director. He’s Chicago anti-gun radical Andrew Traver and he’s scheduled to meet with Holder and DOJ today.[More]

Google's YouTube "Fast & Furious" Censorship: Rep Issa's Oversight Hearing On Operation Gunrunner

I have been following the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. The weapon used was AK-47, one that the ATF lost track of. I dunno if this has something to do with how democrats view our 2nd Amendment or what but I do know he is dead, the family is still grieving and nothing substantial has come from this administration as to why! I guess throw an underling under the bus will solve the problem...not.
This statement via AosHQ really makes me sick:
It is certain from the testimony in the House Oversight Report that agents involved in the operation weren't troubled by the fact that their operation might have the effect of increasing violence in Mexico. Even if that violence spilled across to our side of the border.

Agent Terry was a egg that was scrambled? WTF does that mean?
Since Issa's hearing I have been attempting to post videos from the hearing but, for whatever reason, the share link is not cooperating at YouTube, go figure, right? Terrorist videos are no problemo..
Here are some links to videos regarding the hearings:

Armed Beauty Queen Fatally Shoots Intruder in Florida Home Invasion

When a burly ex-convict forced his way into a posh Florida home last week, he had no idea what awaited him -- a 25-year-old beauty queen with a pink .38-caliber handgun. She proceeded to shoot him chest, groin, thigh and back.Meghan Brown, a former Florida pageant queen, shot and killed 42-year-old Albert Franklin Hill during a home invasion March 12 at the 2,732-square-foot house she shares with her fiance in Tierra Verde, Fla.
Hill barged into the home at around 3 a.m. after Brown responded to a knock at the front door, according to a police report. He allegedly grabbed the 110-pound Brown around her nose and mouth and dragged her to an upstairs bedroom.
The woman’s fiance, Robert Planthaber, said in an interview that he was quickly awakened by the altercation and ran to Brown’s side.
"I attacked him and took a severe beating to the head," Planthaber told FoxNews.com. "But I got him off of her long enough for her to scramble to the room where she keeps her pink .38 special.”
Wonder if she shot him in the groin first?

Wyoming Adopts "Constitutional Carry" of Firearms
From The New American:
An important step was taken yesterday in Wyoming toward restoring the constitutionally protected right of Americans to keep and bear arms, as that state became the second in less than a year to enact legislation affirming the right of its citizens to carry a concealed firearm without a special government-issued license.Similar bills are pending in at least six other states. Heh.Following adoption in the state Senate, the vote of the House in the Wyoming legislature approved the bill by a vote of 48–8 several weeks ago, and Gov. Matt Mead signed it into law on March 3.
The right to carry a concealed firearm without a special license issued by the state is often referred to as “constitutional carry.”Wyoming is now the fourth state in the Union that recognizes constitutional carry, joining Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont.

Unloaded firearms must be packed in hard-sided containers, and will be stored in train lockers.

Vendetta Against Gun Club
(Kitsap County, Washington) Local citizens are rallying around the local Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club (est. 1926) as the county prosecutor attempts, seemingly obsessed like a stalker, to shut it down.
Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney Russ Hauge, a Democrat, filed a complaint against a respected gun club just two months before he is up for reelection. His opponent is a member of that gun club. It's been suggested that malice from prosecutor Hauge is the primary motivation for the legal attack on the gun club. I would agree.Hauge has attempted to criminally prosecute the gun club three times already, but each time the charges were dismissed by a judge. Hauge has appealed. With the county suffering financially, some suspect Hauge is engaging in a political vendetta.
The Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club (KRRC) has been a landmark along Seabeck Highway in Kitsap County, Washington since 1926. Its website url is gunsafety.org, reflective of a long record of safe activity. It isn't an activist organization, just a family-friendly community shooting range serving the public.
On September 8, 2010, Kitsap County prosecutor Russ Hauge, a Democrat, filed a lawsuit against KRRC, alleging that it is a public nuisance which violates city and county ordinances.

Ohio Democratic Party attempts illegal seizure of personal info on all 211,000 Ohio concealed carry permit holders
Allegedly to "send them campaign information". Except these records are exempt from the Ohio Open Records Act.
From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
The Ohio Democratic Party tried unsuccessfully this week to get information on all people licensed to carry concealed weapons in the Buckeye State. The state party sent letters to Ohio's 88 sheriffs requesting the names and addresses of permit holders and the dates the licenses were issued. Ohio has about 211,000 permit holders.
But neither the Democrats nor any other political party can get that information. The records are exempt from the public record laws. The only public access was given to journalists when then-Gov. Bob Taft signed the law in 2004.
Lorain County Sheriff Phil Stammitti, a Democrat, denied the request Friday.
"I must also advise you that the information you are requesting is NOT a public record and CANNOT be released," Stammitti wrote in a letter to the party.
The Democrats intended to target people who support the Second Amendment -- the constitutional right to bear arms -- with campaign information, said party spokesman, Seth Bringman.
The party learned the information was not public and then sent a second letter apologizing to the 88 sheriffs.
Did I mention that the NRA just endorsed Democrat Ted Strickland for governor?

High Court's Big Ruling For Gun Rights

In its second major ruling on gun rights in three years, the Supreme Court Monday extended the federally protected right to keep and bear arms to all 50 states. The decision will be hailed by gun rights advocates and comes over the opposition of gun control groups, the city of Chicago and four justices.Awesome!Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the five justice majority saying "the right to keep and bear arms must be regarded as a substantive guarantee, not a prohibition that could be ignored so long as the States legislated in an evenhanded manner."
The ruling builds upon the Court's 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller that invalidated the handgun ban in the nation's capital. More importantly, that decision held that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms was a right the Founders specifically delegated to individuals. The justices affirmed that decision and extended its reach to the 50 states. Today's ruling also invalidates Chicago's handgun ban.

Smokin' Weed and Packin' Heat
The Oregon State Court of Appeals ruled this week that medical marijuana users cannot be denied concealed handgun licenses, contrary to the opinions of at least two county sheriffs.
The [federal gun control] act states that "an unlawful user ...of any controlled substance" can't own a gun, and the sheriffs contended the federal act trumps Oregon's medical marijuana law.Consequently, there continues to be a disparity between state and federal law with regard to the medical marijuana issue. The only change is now medical marijuana smokers can be stoned while carrying a concealed weapon. While federal law prohibits marijuana, Oregon's 12-year-old law legalizes pot possession for residents with a laundry list of qualifying ailments and a doctor's approval.

Boy, 6, Brandishes Gun in Kindergarten Class
(Ionia, Michigan) School officials took immediate action after discovering a 6-year-old boy playing around with a gun.
But when Mason Jammer, a kindergarten student at Jefferson Elementary in Ionia, curled his fist into the shape of a gun (pic) Wednesday and pointed it at another student, school officials said it was no laughing matter.Heh. The school officials overreacted in my estimation. They suspended Mason until Friday, saying the behavior made other students uncomfortable, said Erin Jammer, Mason's mother.
School officials allege Mason had displayed this kind of behavior for several months, despite numerous warnings.
"I do think it's too harsh for a six-year-old," said Jammer, who was previously warned that if Mason continued the practice he would be suspended. "He's six and he just likes to play."

Freeze, Mister! I Have A Watch and A Gun!
(Las Vegas, Nevada) Introduced at this year's Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show was this high-tech watch and gun combination. Apparently, the arguably ugly watch sends a wireless signal to the gun, a safety feature which reportedly prevents accidental shootings.

The gun-watch pair is manufactured by the German company Armatix GmbH and it sells for about $9,700.
Notably, the combo logically places equal importance, if not more, on the control and protection of the watch as with the gun. To assure your firearm is secured, you now have to also make sure your watch is properly secured. After all, what good is the gun if someone steals your watch? (More ....)

Oklahoma Bill Exempts Guns from Federal Law
(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) A bill has been introduced in the Oklahoma legislature to protect the Second Amendment rights of the state's citizens. Made in and remaining in Oklahoma firearms will be exempt from federal gun regulations.
House Bill 2884, creates the "Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act," which declares that a "personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Oklahoma and that remains within the borders of Oklahoma is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of Congress to regulate interstate commerce."IMO, it's a good idea to limit federal involvement whenever possible. Over a dozen other states agree and have initiated similar legislative measures. (More ....)The legislation notes that regulation of intrastate commerce is vested in the states under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and that Article II, Section 26, of the Oklahoma Constitution "clearly secures to Oklahoma citizens, and prohibits interference with, the right of individual Oklahoma citizens to keep and bear arms."

Gun Control - A Public Health Issue?
Not a big surprise.
In a very quiet development last month, the National Institute of Health (NIH) began studying gun violence after a 13 year ban on the topic.Interestingly, the same gun control advocates who are steamrolling a massive government takeover of health care are looking for ways to make the right to bear arms a public health issue. In 1996 Congress stripped the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of its $2.6 million dollar annual funding for firearm injuries. The Bush administration continued this ban while in control of the agency. At the time, Former Senate Majority leader Bob Dole and Former Senator Trent Lott argued gun related violence was not a public health concern and therefore not under the jurisdiction of the CDC.
I suggest it's not a coincidence that gun control is being snared into the universe of health-related crises requiring government action at the same time the government is swallowing the health industry.

Cow Palace Gun Shows
(Sacramento, California) The California Legislature has passed a bill, SB585, to shut down gun shows at the legendary Cow Palace (pic) which straddles San Mateo and San Francisco Counties. Sponsored by uber-liberal San Francisco Democrat Senator Mark Leno, the bill will limit gun shows until 2013 when they will be completely outlawed.
Reportedly, there's a hopey-changey reason for the legislation.
The measure has the potential to limit gun violence by ending sales.Frankly, I contend that ending gun shows at the Cow Palace has a greater potential of limiting law-abiding citizens from obtaining guns to protect themselves. Violent criminals customarily don't obtain their weapons through legal means. They don't pass background checks, take safety courses and wait 10 days to take possession, all of which are reportedly required at Cow Palace gun shows.
In any event, the bill is expected to be on Gov. Schwarzenegger's desk shortly for signature.
Notably, the adjacent counties of Marin and Alameda have previously banned gun shows and it's presumed that statistics are being compiled reflecting a dramatic drop in gun violence -- uh, or maybe not.

Gun News
In Chicago, a proposed ordinance will mandate five days in jail for any person caught with an unauthorized gun. Second offenses would result in 15 days mandatory jail time, third offense gets 30 days. The proposal goes to the city council next week.
In Missouri, a bystander pulls out his concealed-carry 9 mm and plugs a woman who threatened two lives. It all started with the alleged theft of a bag of meat and progressed to a victimized woman holding on to the hood of a car for her dear life.
A gun buyback is planned for Nassau County NY on September 12. Unlicensed handguns in working condition can be traded for $200 each with no questions asked. Odd that it's called a buyback since it implies that the guns were originally owned by the government.
In New York City, with some of the toughest gun control in the nation, Mayor Bloomberg has proposed making it also illegal to carry a gun while drunk.
In the sportsmen's paradise, the Louisiana legislature has granted a tax holiday this weekend for customers purchasing firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies. State and local sales taxes will be waived. It's time to stock up.
In Tennessee, a new state law allows guns in public parks but it's not a clear-cut authorization. Local and county ordinances are tied into the new requirements which have confused many people. State legislators may have to revisit the issue for clarification.

New York Gun Control Measures
(Albany, New York) The controversy regarding "microstamping" of bullet casings continues among New York lawmakers. The issue has been raised before but never signed into law.
However, the microstamping bill is just one of a number of gun control measures being addressed this week.
The bills under consideration also create new rules for gun storage and weapons safety classes, require guns be childproof, require background checks for pawn shop gun purchases, prohibit bullets designed to fragment upon impact, ban weapons of .50 caliber or larger and empower courts to revoke gun licenses of individuals considered a threat to the public.Gun advocates say the bills just harass legal gun owners while doing nothing to stem the illegal use of guns. The measures have failed in previous years but, with the Democrats surging into power last fall, there is worry that some may be passed into law.
The bills on microstamping and banning .50-caliber weapons passed the Assembly. Next, they go to the Senate for more debate.
Gun-Offender Registry Proposed in Utica, NY
Yesterday, Utica Mayor David Roefaro, a former funeral director, proposed that city residents charged with second- or third-degree criminal possession of a weapon be required to register their home and work addresses with the police department every six months for four years following completion of their punishment.
Registration will be required for those convicted of illegal possession of a loaded handgun, three or more illegal handguns, a handgun by a convicted felon, an assault weapon, or a disguised firearm.
Mayor Roefaro wants to call the city ordinance "Lindsey's Law" after a local police officer, Thomas Lindsey, who was killed during a traffic stop in 2007. Oddly, the Oneida County DA, Scott McNamara, said he didn't know whether the proposed law would have helped Lindsey.
It's my opinion that a gun-offender registry would NOT have helped Officer Lindsey. When fingers are pulling triggers, it's way past time to do background checks. With that in mind, I would suggest that the proposed gun-offender registry has more to do with politics than crime prevention.
In any event, the proposed ordinance requires approval of the Utica Common Council and it is scheduled to be discussed next month. If enacted, violations will be misdemeanors punishable by a possible one year in jail and $1,000 fine. (more)
