An "Alarming Trend" That Has Liberals On Edge

The "alarming trend"? Homeowners defending themselves.

You can hear the disdain in the reporter's voice when she mentions the "alarming trend," and again at the end when she says, "It's a frightening trend but a lot of people feel they have to do it."

It isn't frightening to me. People should be allowed to defend themselves, especially in their own home. That it is a "trend" rather than the norm is more concerning to me.

Personally, I would call it an "refreshing trend."

Eric Holder Wants To Mandate That Gun Owners Wear Bracelets To Activate Weapons

From The Daily Caller:

Attorney General Eric Holder wants to explore "common sense" gun reforms, like mandating that gun owners would have to wear bracelets before they could activate their firearms.

Holder made his remarks while testifying before a U.S. House of Representatives appropriations committee on Friday. He acknowledged the existence of the Second Amendment, which gives people the unqualified right to own and carry weapons, but nevertheless expressed support for several gun control measures that he described as "common sense reforms," according to The Washington Free Beacon.

If you recall, I posted about the "smart gun" bracelet technology a couple of months ago. Not only are these guns much more expensive, but they are much slower to engage. It takes more than 13 seconds just to activate the bracelet so the gun can be fired - and that is assuming you make no programming errors and the batteries are fresh. Then imagine trying to do that while someone is breaking into your home.

How about this for identifying legal gun owners:

We all know nothing short of total persecution will satisfy gun-control leftists and those who want to see gun owners cower in shame.

AR-15 "Terrifies" Shoppers, Made Them Think They Would Die

3139115_G.jpg
A terrifying sight - a man with a scary-looking rifle!

It appears a Texas town has an arbitrary law which is based solely on the irrational fears of a bunch of pussies.

On Dec. 28, Derek Poe stopped by GameStop in Parkdale Mall before going to the store he owns in the mall, Golden Triangle Tactical. While at GameStop, he was stopped by police officers and the AR-15 that was slung around his back was seized.

Poe says he was just exercising his right to open carry a long rifle.

Police have charged him with disorderly conduct because he displayed a firearm "In a manner calculated to alarm."

Poe disagrees saying his rifle was facing barrel down on his back and his hands weren't even on the gun.

"It was clearly obvious I didn't have criminal intent. I had a drink in one hand and a bag in the other. I didn't commit a crime. I legally carried a long arm in Texas," Poe said.

Detectives say witnesses gave statements that they were "terrified" and "thought they were going to die." (Source)

Just FYI, Texas is an open carry state. But, apparently, a law against "alarming the public" supersedes the right to carry. Video of a detective explaining that to Poe below the fold.

Hopefully, Poe will have a chance to face his accusers in a court of law. But if the mere sight of a rifle terrifies them to the point they think they are going to die, I doubt they have the balls to show up for court.

Anti-Gun Group Director Arrested For Domestic Violence

Fortunately for Tio Hardiman, his wife was not armed. But then again, if she had been armed, he might not have had the bollocks to beat her in the first place (emphasis mine):

CeaseFire director Tio Hardiman (and HufPo contributor...SH) was released from jail after posting bond on a domestic battery charge. [...] Hardiman was arrested Friday after an argument with his wife allegedly turned physical at the couple's hillside home.

"I am Mr. Ceasefire and I got caught up in a situation and I am not here to point fingers and blame nobody," Hardiman said. "The verdict is still out. I can't really speak about the case. Things happen for a reason and liberation comes in many forms."

Funny how batterers always think they have good reason to abuse their spouse. But before you can abuse someone physically weaker, you must first disarm them. Because guns are a great equalizer.

If anti-gun advocates take advantage of an unarmed spouse as Mr. Hardiman did, it makes one wonder what the greater agenda is. Gun control isn't for a non-violent world as Hardiman claims. He's proven that in his own little private world.

Gun control is to prevent citizens from fighting back. It's about the abusers maintaining control of their victims. It's about keeping an unfair advantage.

Illinois Passes Bill To Allow Concealed Carry

Shocka.

The Illinois legislature agreed Friday to allow people to carry concealed guns, which if signed into law would make the state the last in the country to allow the public possession of concealed firearms.

The compromise plan by the House and Senate followed a federal appeals ruling that stated Illinois' concealed carry ban is unconstitutional and that the state must change it by June 9.

Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, has not said whether he will sign the legislation into law. However, the bill has enough votes in the legislature to override a gubernatorial veto.

When there were just muskets and slingshots and spears...

Mike Lupica wrote in his unhinged Sarah Palin rant (emphasis mine):

The leaders of the NRA don’t speak for responsible gun owners in America, and never have. They don’t even speak to the spirit of the Second Amendment, written about a thousand years ago for single-shot muskets.

Lupica also rages against Sarah Palin's t-shirt, 'phony patriots' (aka NRA members), and women who hunt.

If this was around 'a thousand years ago'...

FYI, in case we have any anti-gun leftists here, the 2nd Amendment is part of the Constitution, which was ratified in 1788. That's 225 years ago. Like a million years after Christ. And a few Gazillion years after the dinosaurs.

A Legal Immigrant And True American Schools Gun Control Politicians On The 2nd Amendment

The documentation from Homeland Security HSCEMS-12-R-00011 stating that an AR-15 style rifle with a 30 round magazine is "suitable for personal defense" can be viewed HERE. (Also in Section C in the downloadable .pdfs on the right.)

Transcript below the fold.

My name is Henson Ong. Forgive me, English is not my first language. I am a legal immigrant and an American by choice.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to express my opinion and give my testimony in opposition to the majority of the proposed bills which do nothing to deter future crimes.

Gun control does not work. Your own history is re pleat with high school rifle teams, and boy scout [rifle] merit badges. You could buy rifles at hardware stores. You could mail order them to your home. Your country was awash in readily available firearms and ammunition and yet in your past you did not have mass school shootings. Other people have already expressed the question. What changed?

It was not that the availability of guns suddenly increased, it was actually decreased. What was changed was societal decay. If gun control actually did work, Washington DC and Chicago would be the safest cities in your nation but it is no. They have the toughest gun laws and the highest crime and murder rates.

Now some people have called the AR-15 a weapon of mass killing. It turns out that there are a few government agencies which disagree with that characterization. The department of Homeland Security has stated that a rifle chambered inn 5.56 NATO with a 30 round magazine is suitable for personal defense. HSCEMS-1212-00011 solicitation 4, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Now who needs an Ar-15 with 30 round magazines? That question has also been brought up. I would like to put forward that had the Koreans in the LA Riots not had AR-15s and AK-47s with 30 round magazines, and Rugers 30s, their businesses would have been burned to the ground like all of the other businesses in their neighborhood. Theirs stood because they stood their ground.

I would also put forward the conjecture that, had the 10,000 students in Tienanmen square not been unarmed, things may not have resulted in so many of them disappearing.

In your own laws, United States vs Miller 309US174 1939, it was made clear that the types of firearms protected by the Second Amendment were those specifically useful and common for military use in defense of the state. I would like to note that the state is not the government, the state is the people.

In Lewis VS United States 1980, it is stated that the Second Amendment guarantees no right to keep and bear a firearms that does not have some reasonable relationship to the preservation and efficiency of a well regulated militia. It has nothing to do with hunting.

The militia debates in the convention shows plainly enough that it is composed of all males physically capable of acting in concert for common defense; And further that ordinarily, when called for service, these men were to appear, bearing arms supplied by themselves, and of a kind in use at the time. The RA-15 is the most common and popular rifle in America at this time.

I would like to wrap up with a statement from Judge Alex Kozinski in Silveira v. Lockyer 2003:

"My excellent colleges have forgotten these bitter lessons of history. The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime usually do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision; One designed only for those exceptionally rare circumstances when all other rights have failed. A free people can only afford to make this mistake once."

Obama Fails to Register 'OrganizingForAction.net'; Site Points to NRA Home Page

Ooopsy.

BigG

At the beginning of the year, President Barack Obama's new 501(c)4 political nonprofit[note video below..ed], Organizing For Action, was launched with all the usual bells and whistles. But the tech wizards at OFA forgot one important rule in today's Internet world: Register all the iterations of your website address before someone else does.

Now Obama's team is filing complaints against the folks smart enough to get the addresses before he did.

As Obama's OFA made its debut, no one in his purportedly Internet-savvy campaign had obtained the corresponding .com, .net, .org or .us sites, nor did OFA register other names that are close to its official one, as is the sensible practice. In the case of the .net address, a fellow named Derek Bovard had already registered the .net address by the time Obama's team took notice.

Bovard has routed his new site to the homepage of the National Rifle Association.

So, whenever anyone goes to www.organizingforaction.net they end up seeing the homepage of the NRA.

Naturally, Obama and his fellow community organizers were furious.

[Read It All]

Bwahahahahaha

Update: Jay Carney struggles to explain how OFA is some how an independent organization:

Calling 911

Several Miami-Dade police officers were caught ignoring 911 calls:

Officer Socarras, Officer Jose Huerta and their Sergeant Jennifer Gonzalez were videotaped drinking coffee at a Casa Larios when an emergency call came in with an alert about an unconscious 5-month-old, police said in investigation records obtained by NBC 6.

Socarras was dispatched to the scene and despite being with his sergeant, he continued drinking his coffee. Nine minutes later he was cleared from the call, according to police.

If they ignore a call about an injured child, what other calls might they ignore?

Rusty Calls for "Common Sense Limits on Freedom of Assembly, Nightclub Control"

233 people killed. 233! The culprit? A semi-automatic carrying crazy thug? Nope, a fire in a nightclub.

It kind of puts the whole gun control argument in perspective, doesn't it?

Think about the five essential freedoms in the First Amendment: Speech, press, religion, petition, and assembly.

When is the "conversation" going to start about limiting the number of people allowed in a nightclub?

To get this "conversation" going, let me propose limiting the number to, say, 10.

Any nightclub with more than 10 people in it are dangerous. What if there was a fire? If you had 11 people in the nightclub there would be 11 dead. But with 10, only 10 dead. Capiche?

And do you really need more than 10 people in a nightclub?

Look, I'm not trying to put nightclubs out of business. I'm not saying you can't go to a nightclub. I just want reasonable regulations on nightclubs.

I personally go nightclubbing all the time.

Nightclubs are part of our heritage, part of the American tradition. I mean, if you grew up and your dad gave you a disco ball when you were ten and that became part of your family's traditions, you can see why you'd be pretty protective of that.

No one is going to take away your disco ball. No one is going to take away your glowsticks, your ecstasy, condom machines in the women's bathroom, or your Eurotrash rave music.

But why can't you see that no one needs more than 10 people at a nightclub?

That's reasonable. With an additional mandatory background check for every one entering the nightclub, we should be able to save millions -- nay, billions -- of lives.

Also, we should do away with nightclubs that look like they could hold more than 10 people. You know, scary assault-nightclubs:

A nightclub fire killed at least 233 people in southern Brazil early on Sunday when a band's pyrotechnics show set the building ablaze and fleeing partygoers stampeded toward blocked and overcrowded exits in the ensuing panic, officials said.
Now if only the powerful nightclub lobby wasn't so good at mobilizing naive young urbanites, we'd be able to get nightclub control right away.

Virginia Lawmaker Who Brandished AK-47 Has History Of Violence

The Virginia lawmaker thought he'd use this stunt to show how easy it was to carry assault weapons into public places. But did he violate the law in doing so?

A Virginia lawmaker who drew gasps from his colleagues when he brandished a borrowed AK-47 during an anti-gun speech Thursday was found guilty in 2002 of committing a vicious 1999 assault, was sanctioned for legal misconduct while prosecuting a rape case, spent six months in jail for contempt of a federal court, and saw his law license revoked in 2003. [...]

According to legal brief filed by the victim's attorneys, Morrissey shouted, "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to beat your head in," before beating the victim and "smash[ing] his head into the corner of a brick wall."

Morrissey was charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, a felony in Virginia. He was ultimately convicted of a lesser charge of assault & battery, a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor does not usually limit a convict's legal right to possess a weapon. However, a history of violence should.

Cindy Yorgason snapped the photo, which is making the rounds of social media. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the man pictured is 22-year-old Joseph Kelley, who said he was simply trying to demonstrate that guns are safe in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
According to Kelley, the rifle was an unloaded AR-15 and the handgun was a loaded Glock 19C. He said he has a concealed carry permit, is a former member of the military and contacted police dispatch before leaving his home to tell them about his plans. Kelley also said he was told that he was “well within his rights” and that bystanders’ reactions were positive.

“I felt no negative vibes from anyone,” Kelley said. “I think it went rather surprisingly well.”

The above is what's called responsible gun ownership. However, the below is a anti-gun Dem lawmaker from Virginia demonstrating his knowledge of weapons and handling of such:

The Journal News LoHud Removes Registered Gun Owners Map (Update)

gun_owners_ny.jpg

It's about time, but the damage has already been done

A suburban New York newspaper has removed from its website the names and addresses of residents with pistol permits[...]

Janet Hasson, president and publisher of The Journal News Media Group, announced the move Friday in an emailed statement. She said the new law does not require removing the data, but "doing so complies with its spirit."

"Complies with its spirit" my arse. They were caught with their pants down, and it shows. Especially in their bottom line, most advertisers didn't want anything to do with them. Also, the robbery at one of the gun owners home and Project Veritas's video showed others what hypocrites they truly are.

h/t @yonkersoem40

Update: Journal News publisher has explained, in a post, why the map was removed. Read the whole thing if you want. Frankly, I am nauseated after reading her liberal fascist's bullsh*t.

Towards the end of the 'letter':

But the database has been public for 27 days and we believe those who wanted to view it have done so already. As well, with the passage of time, the data will become outdated and inaccurate.

Equally important, the legislature has weighed in on the issue and representatives of residents from across the state have said that some New Yorkers who hold gun permits should have the right to keep that information private. As a news organization, we are constantly defending the public’s right to know. Consequently we do not endorse the way the legislature has chosen to limit public access to gun permit data. The statute is very broad and allows anyone who meets certain criteria within qualifying categories to keep their permit information private. When the moratorium concludes, far fewer permit holders will be identifiable, and those who want to know which houses on their block may have guns will not be able to get that information. But we are not deaf to voices who have said that new rules should be set for gun permit data.

Make no mistake, The Journal News will continue to report aggressively on gun ownership. We will continue to pursue our request for data from Putnam County, and will closely analyze the data for Westchester and Rockland counties when it once again becomes publicly available. And we will keep a snapshot of our map--with all its red dots-- on our website to remind the community that guns are a fact of life we should never forget.

Sincerely,

Janet Hasson

President and Publisher

Journal News Media Group

Holder Begs Court to Stop Document Release on #FastandFurious

holder_fastandfurious.jpg

Cuz, how would it look now that bronco bama is busy with trying to circumvent the 2nd Amendment?

[BigG]Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice have asked a federal court to indefinitely delay a lawsuit brought by watchdog group Judicial Watch. The lawsuit seeks the enforcement of open records requests relating to Operation Fast and Furious, as required by law.

Judicial Watch had filed, on June 22, 2012, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking all documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious and “specifically [a]ll records subject to the claim of executive privilege invoked by President Barack Obama on or about June 20, 2012.”

The administration has refused to comply with Judicial Watch’s FOIA request, and in mid-September the group filed a lawsuit challenging Holder’s denial. That lawsuit remains ongoing but within the past week President Barack Obama’s administration filed what’s called a “motion to stay” the suit. Such a motion is something that if granted would delay the lawsuit indefinitely.[More...]

It's ironic that one of bronco bama's executive orders states "the DOJ will release a report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement".

Are they really gonna turn themselves in?

I think not.

Bronco Bama's New Gun Safety #GunControl Hashtag: #NowIsTheTime

#NowIsTheTime to remember #FastAndFurious aka bronco bamas administration of gunrunners into Mexico. Or as NormBoardman tweeted:

"Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata and over 300 Mexican civilians would be surprised by the integrity of Holder and Obama
DarthBluto's tweet is right on also:
lol--> "Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement." #fastandfurious

'But mom, guns are bad.'

Dr Wolf: Overheard today at RK Gun show

[.....]As I was leaving the gun show I overheard this exchange between a mother and her young son, perhaps 5 or 6 years old. As they entered the showroom, he could not contain his astonishment upon first seeing the vast collection of firearms:
'But mom, guns are bad.'

'Oh no, guns are not bad. Remember? Your dad uses guns for his Army job.'

This quick exchange spoke volumes and I found it to be quite disturbing. Clearly someone is attempting to indoctrinate this young child in direct contradiction to his parents' beliefs, but who? His government-provided teacher? Government-controlled public access television? His government-coerced pediatrician complying with federal guidelines? Who?

Thomas Sowell recently wrote this outstanding column about the undermining of America, one student at a time: The Role of 'Educators'. They're starting young.

Thank goodness for this young boy's mother. And his father.[More...]

Indoctrination is alive and well in liberal fascists K-12 classrooms.
