Video Of Police Shooting Released by Family
I remember when this first happened last year. The family tearfully claimed they called police to help with a mentally ill relative. However, the police responded with more force than they anticipated when the relative lunged at an officer with a knife.
But the family must have anticipated some force, as they set up a hidden camera to capture the event as it unfolded. They just released the video:
The video fully exonerates the officer, imo. It shows the responding officers acted with great restraint and gave the suspect every opportunity to drop his weapon. And it shows the suspect lunging at the officer, making it a legitimate case of self defense.
I don't know why the family thought it was a good idea to make the video public.
