Crimeans "Vote" to Join Russia

This is looking an awful lot like an old-school Soviet "election":

Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to leave Ukraine and join Russia, election officials said Sunday, capping a heavy-handed campaign that blocked most voters from hearing a vision for any alternative to unification with Moscow.

Crimean election Spokesman Mikhail Malyshev said the final result was 96.77 percent to rejoin Russia and 2.51 percent against.

Only 2.5% against? Give me a break. Given a normal distribution of idiocy, at least that many should have accidentally voted no.

Part of the high vote for joining Russia might be explained by opposition groups boycotting the election. We might also cite intimidation as another factor explaining this. But still, even though we all expected the vote to go this way the numbers, as they stand, spell out one thing: FRAUD.

And how is President Obama treating what could very well be this generation's Sudetenland crisis? He's busy all day meeting with the PA President Abbas.

How I long for the good old days of the strong and robust foreign policy of Jimmy Carter.
