Pakistanis Surprised Peace Talks w/ Taliban Not Working Out
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me thousands of times, shame on me:
A political assassination at celebrations for Eid al-Adha has further eroded hopes of peace talks with the Taliban in Pakistan. Our betters in Washington and Geneva keep telling us there is no military solution in Afghanistan and Pakistan. That only a political solution will work.
The Law Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Israrullah Gandapur, became the latest member of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to be killed by militants, when a suicide bomber struck as Mr Gandapur was greeting constituents at his house to mark the Islamic holiday.
Nine people, including Mr Gandapur, died in the attack near Dera Ismail Khan and at least 30 were injured.
Talking with the Taliban. Yeah, that'll work.
Perhaps these career diplomats should spend some time watching Conan, The Destroyer.
