Video: Al Qaeda Threatens ex-Thai PM

al qaeda threatens thai PM.JPG

Worst al Qaeda video ever? The first thing you'll notice right off the bat is that barely five seconds in someone can be clearly heard whispering right next to the camera. Then 42 seconds in some guy inserts his hand into view from off camera in what appears to be some kind of direction to those reading the prepared statement.

If that wasn't bad enough, then they get a guy up there to wag his fingers as someone else narrates in English. The effect, I think, is supposed to be of him reading the statement in Arabic while someone translates. But look closely at the guys lips. They don't move.

Is this amateur hour or what?

To be honest, I haven't seen a real al Qaeda video this bad since ...... never?

It wouldn't surprise me if these guys were a bunch of wannabes. Then again, since al Qaeda is a brand name with no trademark protection then any one can claim to be al Qaeda and, well, they kind of are. That's what the leaderless jihad called for by al Qaeda's leaders (oxymoron?) means.

Anyway, here's the video.

If the video goes down, let me know. I have it backed up.

Bangkok Post:

The English language commentary included threats to kill Thaksin, "to avenge the killing of Muslims in the South in 2004". It referred to the killings at Tak Bai district town, while Thaksin was premier.

"We will get you any time, anywhere in the world," said the threat.

Thaksin Shinawatra was the former PM of Thailand until he was overthrown by a military coup in 2006. His sister is the current PM.
