Plane Crash

An Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Seoul crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

FAA spokesman Lynn Lynsford said it was flight No. 214, and it was unclear how many people were on board.

Images from television station KTVU in San Francisco showed extensive fire damage to the airplane and black smoke coming from the wreckage, which had lost its tail and one of its wings in the crash.

Fire engines were on scene and the fire, which had burned through the cabin's roof, appeared to be out.

The tail of the plane came off while it was touching down on the runway, according to media reports.

UPDATE: Latest news is that more than 23 seriously injured, at least 2 dead, and as many as 60 unaccounted. There were over 300 passengers on board, so it could have been much, much worse.
