California Über Alles: Majority of Your Labor Now Belongs to the State (Arbeit Macht Frei)

My buddy Professor Chaos and I, both native Californians who fled the once-great state with no plans on returning ... ever, were talking the other day when I mentioned a classic Dead Kennedy's song California Über Alles.

Chaos pointed out the irony of the song being directed at Governor Jerry Brown back in 1979. And who is currently presiding over California's decline? Yup, the same Jerry Brown.

If you've never heard the song, it's below with lyrics. It unites punk enthusiasts (me), hippie haters (Chaos), and pretty much every one else who thinks the nanny state is just fascism with a smile.

How bad is it in California under Der Fuerer Brown? This bad:

Thanks to passage of Proposition 30 last month, high-income Californians would pay the nation's highest marginal income tax rates -- nearly 52 percent -- if President Barack Obama and Congress fail to make a deal to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff," according to a new study.
The story is wrong. Regardless of the so-called "fiscal cliff", President Obama supports raising taxes on the wealthiest. So, either way, the marginal tax rate on wealthy Californians will be above the 50% mark.

Just one more reason never to move back. Video below.
