In Russia, the Moors Beware of You

In defense of the villagers who didn't come to her aid, Aishat Maksudova had pulled the 'ol "help I'm being attacked by a wolf" thing before:

The animal bit [56 yr. old Aishat Maksudova] on her arm and her leg and she fell to the ground, crying out for help from other villagers. No one was in earshot. So she reached for an ax she had brought along to repair a fence, and with remarkable aplomb, she hit the wolf over the head several times until his teeth unclenched.

The wolf later died.

We'll have to wait until the next full moon for the conclusion of this story.
