3rd Debate: Did Obama Slam The Horse Soldiers of 9/11?
In Obama's attempt to paint Romney as old and out of touch he showed just how out of touch he is with military tech.
When Romneyaccused the president of cutting back on military spending by noting the U.S. Navy had fewer ships today than in World War I, Obama shot back: "Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed."The DNC in return shows how out of touch they are by being so proud of Obama's out of touchiness with this video:
He also said in an almost derisive tone, "We also have things called aircraft carriers that planes land on and
submarines[no ABC he said "ships"] that go under water."
A statue of a member of the U.S. Special Forces on horseback was just unveiled at Ground Zero in New York City. When our Special Forces invaded Afghanistan post-9/11, many did so on horseback. I personally remember sitting for a lecture in Austin, TX in 2005, given by a member of one of the first Special Forces teams to arrive in Afghanistan. He talked at length about their reliance upon horses. Our Marines still train with bayonets
While the Army discontinued traditional bayonet training in 2010, the USMC still trains Marines with bayonets and issues them as standard equipment. The Army has also begun training soldiers in a different style of bayonet use--not affixed to the end of a rifle but as a secondary melee weapon.Mr President, you FAILED at honoring our military with those comments.
