Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL from Massachusetts, was one of the victims of the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, a family friend confirmed to Fox News[..]RIP sir.
A former ski instructor in Utah, Doherty reportedly trained as a sniper and medical officer after joining the Navy SEALs. He served for seven years before leaving to work at the private security firm.
Based on an account of the Benghazi attack provided by senior administration officials, Doherty was one of two people who died while trying to take cover from gunfire in the annex near the main U.S. consulate building. At least three others were wounded in the attack.
Update: More at Boston Globe:
A Winchester native, who was a former Navy SEAL, was one of four Americans killed in Libya by a mob of Islamic extremists, his sister said today.Indeed, it was well executed, the Libyan security team made sure of it.
Glen Doherty was 42 years old and was working for a private security company when he was killed with US Ambassador John Christopher Stevens in the American consulate in Benghazi Wednesday during what may have been a coordinated terrorist attack.
“He was on security detail and he was protecting the ambassador and also helping the wounded’’ when he was killed, said his sister, Katie Quigley of Marblehead[...]
Quigley said her family was officially notified around 5 p.m. Wednesday that he had been killed. She believes that the incident at the consulate was not a a random act of a few people upset about an inflammatory movie about the Muslim prophet Mohammed.
“I never thought he’d be another victim of September 11,’’ Quigley said.
“You have to understand. Glen was highly trained. He was the best of the best. He wouldn’t have gone down for some protest over a movie,’’ Quigley said. “This was serious, well-planned, well-executed. He was very good at what he did.’’

Update II: The SEALs lost another, Tyrone S. Woods was the other former SEAL murdered in the Benghazi attack.
I apologize I don't have a picture of him at this time[Updated below]. I would imagine his family needs time to grieve.
The attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya on Tuesday claimed the lives of four Americans. Yesterday, I spoke about two: Ambassador Chris Stevens and Information Management Officer Sean Smith. Today, we also recognize the two security personnel who died helping protect their colleagues. Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty were both decorated military veterans who served our country with honor and distinction. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest gratitude are with their families and friends. Our embassies could not carry on our critical work around the world without the service and sacrifice of brave people like Tyrone and Glen.Update: [h/t Mean Kitteh]Woods had recently moved to Henderson, Nevada
Tyrone’s friends and colleagues called him “Rone,” and they relied on his courage and skill, honed over two decades as a Navy SEAL. In uniform, he served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since 2010, he protected American diplomatic personnel in dangerous posts from Central America to the Middle East. He had the hands of a healer as well as the arm of a warrior, earning distinction as a registered nurse and certified paramedic. All our hearts go out to Tyrone’s wife Dorothy and his three sons, Tyrone Jr., Hunter, and Kai, who was born just a few months ago.
We also grieve for Glen Doherty, called Bub, and his family: his father Bernard, his mother Barbara, his brother Gregory, and his sister Kathleen. Glen was also a former Navy SEAL and an experienced paramedic. And he put his life on the line many times, protecting Americans in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hotspots. In the end, he died the way he lived – with selfless honor and unstinting valor.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends.

A neighbor confirmed Woods lived in Henderson, Nev. According to the State Department, Woods is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his three sons, Tyrone Jr., Hunter and Kai, who was born a few months ago.
