UPDATE: SS Has 295 Armed Criminal Investigators

A followup to a post a couple of days ago about the Social Security Administration ordering 170k rounds of .357 hollow points. Apparently, the ammo isn't for security guards but for their criminal fraud investigation division. They have 295 fraud investigators who are federal law enforcement officers.

170k/295 = 576 rounds per agent. That's not that much, even if their shooting range qualifications only come quarterly -- not monthly as I had supposed, like many LEOs. It may seem like a lot for those who don't know much about guns or law enforcement, but trust me this is not a big number. And the fact that they are hollow points would only shock people who know literally nothing about the kind of ammo any one who carries a gun.

So, case closed.
