Imam Gets No Jail Time for Trying to Strangle Daughter

An Imam in Manchester, England, was convicted of trying to strangle his 16 year old daughter after she refused an arranged marriage and was caught with a boyfriend the family disapproved of. For that he gets a suspended sentence and community service.

I know that most UK sentences are much less severe than here, but I can't help wondering if this one is in keeping with standard sentencing? That's an actual question, not a rhetorical one.

Thanks to Uptight.
