Afghans Kill Another US Soldier

Reuters:

An elite Afghan soldier shot dead an American mentor and his translator at a U.S. base, Afghan officials said on Friday, in the first rogue shooting blamed on the country's new and closely vetted special forces.

"The shooting took place after a verbal conflict where the Afghan special forces soldier opened fire and killed an American special forces member and his translator," Hamid told Reuters.

Hamid said U.S. soldiers had immediately fired back and killed the gunman, as well as another Afghan special forces soldiers who was caught up in the ensuing crossfire.

If we're in Afghanistan to teach the Afghan army how to kill people, mission accomplished. Its high time we let the Afghans and the Taliban kill each other instead of us.

If we want to operate in Afghanistan fine. I'm for being there so we can kill our enemies so long as we can do that effectively. As far as working closely with our friends there, Friends? What Friends?

I will give Obama credit. I didn't think he could utterly lose all advantage we held in Afghanistan in less than four years. Especially when Osama went down. But he's really outperformed in this area.

In Afghanistan its really very much about perceptions. Obama is seen as the weak horse. Over time they know, he will apologize, he will give concessions. He will grovel.Captain John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, said that though it was often impossible to determine the motives for such shootings, U.S. officials believed the majority of the attacks were driven by "personal grievances" rather than Taliban infiltration or inspiration.

...Quite often people resolve their personal problems by resorting to the use of a weapon. It's more of a cultural thing here. Its just their culture?

WTF? What culture would that be? Hmmm?

Moving on this is not the response we need. The response has to be that this is unacceptable. Where's our blood money? And sternly.

Of course then Reuters runs Taliban Spokeman Qari Yousef Ahmadi's immediate claim that the Taliban were behind the shooting. The problem with this is Ahmadi is known to be a liar located in Pakistan. The website where he will post the same false propaganda is still operating freely here.

But who needs that when you have Reuters?

Update: Legal Insurrection.

Obama’s foreign policy has been a profound disaster, subjugating generations of women throughout the region to fundamentalist tyranny as Obama concocts a false “war on women” campaign theme against Republicans.
