al-Shabaab Executes Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki? (Update: Beheaded?)
There are unconfirmed reports of the possible execution of an Alabama man who joined a Somali terrorist group several years ago. This rumor and other that he was killed in combat have been circulating widely the past few days. That was Omar Hammimi's complaint. That the Somali members of al-Shabaab were using the western recruits as cannon fodder.American Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki (aka Omar Hammimi ) joined the Jihadist group Al-Shabaab in 1999, eventually becoming one of the group's top commanders.
He is rumored to have been executed by other commanders over a dispute about the terrorist group's future.
The reports have been unconfirmed by NBC News and by Al-Shabaab, which has its own press office.
al-Shabaab has not issued any statement despite several requests by yours truly for proof of life. But according to Sharia airing your dirty laundry in front of the Kufr is not allowed, Un-Islamic . So I'm not surprised they have refused to update anyone on his status regardless.
That would be the same sin that would get him offed when he upload the the above video.
Update: 04/14/12: This account of his death comes from the Islamic Awakening forum.
"According to Somalia's Gedo Online, Hammami was the only one absent from a recent meeting attended by top al-Shabaab leaders in Baraawe. Al-Shabaab reportedly hunted down Hammami after he left Marka in the Lower Shabelle region. He was reportedly beheaded on the spot and buried somewhere between Marka and Baraawe. According to the report, the alleged execution angered some al-Shabaab leaders, who accused al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane of ordering the execution. A group of foreign fighters and other top al-Shabaab members, including Fuad Mohamed Khalaf, also known as Fuad Shongoole, reportedly fled to the Galgala Mountains following the news of the execution."Even more here.
Bumped from 04/13 to 04/15. The rumor of Hammimi's death has now risen to a dull roar. Still no confirmation or denial from al-Shabaab. They call it a sensitive matter.
