Whoa: Mitt Romney Tops Conservative Blog Poll

John Hawkins over at Right Wing News asked 250 right of center bloggers who they'd like to see as President. I'm pretty surprised by this, but of the 67 bloggers that responded Mitt Romney was the clear winner.

I'm stunned:

1) If you had to pick the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee today, which of the following candidates would you select?

4) Ron Paul: 4.4% (3 votes)
3) Rick Santorum: 20.6% (14 votes)
2) Newt Gingrich: 27.9% (19 votes)
1) Mitt Romney: 47.1% (32 votes)

And when he pitted Romney vs. Gingrich or Santorum in a 1 on 1 race, Romney also beat each of them.

I keep hearing from Santorum that when you add up the not-Romney vote that it far exceeds the vote for Romney. It's a valid point.

But isn't it also true that if you add up the not-Santorum vote that it's even greater than the not-Romney vote? That's something to think about.

The only dark spot for Romney was when asked whether they would prefer Romney or some other unnamed Republican candidate. The unnamed candidate wins 53% to 47%.

So I guess the blogosphere is far less anti-Romney than I had thought.
