Triple Irony: British Fascist Arrested for Violating Fascist Law Prohibiting Burning of Fascist Book

A member of the UK's fascist BNP party has been arrested for burning a Koran. Ironic, no? And triply so given that he was arrested for exercising his natural rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and property. If that's not inherently fascistic, I don't know what is.

But to put this in context: no European country that I know of truly has laws protecting freedom of speech. In most of Europe antisemitic writings are prosecutable offenses and on much of the Continent so is anything pro-Nazi. I expect that of Europe, the intellectual and cultural home of fascism and communism.

It's just sad to think of the UK as, you know, "European". John Locke must be rolling over in his grave right now.

It's one thing for Downing Street to condemn burning a Koran. It's quite another to use the violence inherent in the state to force people to tow the line on speech deemed unacceptable by the majority.
