Manhunt on for Conn. Pakistani Suspect in Times Square Bombing [UPDATED: Just back from Pakistan, wide circle of suspects]

UPDATE: I'm putting the update right up top. The newest information from the Blotter is that the suspect just got back from five months in Pakistan. So, maybe he was trained in the camps after all? Which makes my earliest predictions off, but not nearly as off as "Intellectual Wan's".

Federal authorities are closing in on the man they say is a person of interest in the Times Square car bomb attempt this weekend, who is described as a naturalized American citizen who hails from Pakistan and just returned after spending five months there.
Also, Sun of a Whore (San Diego) notes that DEBKA is reporting that US officials are screening all outgoing flights from certain large Eastern Seaboard cities.

I'm pretty sure we know who was behind this. So again I say: R-U-N.

Do we have a winner here? The guy has been missing since Saturday night.

NY Daily News:

A Connecticut man was being sought Monday in the failed plot to blow up a bomb-laden SUV in Times Square, sources said.

This "person of interest" bought the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder that was abandoned with the engine running - and with primitive, but potentially deadly payload in the rear - just two weeks ago, law enforcement and police sources told The Daily News.

Where did he buy the vehicle? On Craig's List.

They're also reporting that evidence in the vehicle pointed to a foreign connection.

Note to suspect: Run Forrest, run!

People think clearly and make rational decisions while frantically trying to outwit law enforcement.

Also, carry a gun. That way if you get caught you can brandish it. That always seems to work out in the end.

UPDATE: Via AllahP, this from ABC:

One senior official said there are several individuals believed to be connected with the bombing and that at least one of them is a Pakistani-American…
My best guess hasn't changed at all: when they say there is a nexus or a link to foreign terrorism they mean exactly that.

Think someone with jihad aspirations here in the US but with friends or relatives in Pakistan in the TTP or another related jihad group. Not someone trained in Pakistan.

They don't give "D" students assignments like this to strike a "jaw breaking blow" against the USA. They give them suicide vests.
