Feds unsure if car bomb in Times Square is terror-related, possible South Park connection?

Yeah, we're just not sure if this VBIED located in Times Square on a Saturday night had anything to do with terrorism. Seriously, that's not a joke.

It is too early to tell whether the incident in New York's Times Square was a terror incident involving al Qaeda or another terror network, a federal official briefed on the situation told CNN early Sunday.

The investigation by the New York police "just started," the official said.

The official cautioned that connecting any dots this soon will get "way ahead" of the investigation.

But based on the preliminary investigation, the official downplayed the impact of the car bomb, saying, "if it was real, it didn't work."

A second federal official also said there are no clear indicators that this is international terrorism.

Umm, ok?? I might be going out on a limb here, but it seems that a car bomb that nearly went off killing possibly hundreds of people in Times Square, regardless of what the motives of the bomber might be, would in any case be classified as terrorism.

Is it just me, or is this reflexive "no connection to terrorism" response by the Feds something that is potentially dangerous in itself?

Also, Robert at JihadWatch notes that the car bomb was suspiciously close to the Viacom/Comedy Central offices in Times Square. A South Park connection??
