Taliban: All You White People Look Alike!

Yesterday the Taliban announced they had captured two Americans when an ANA helicopter was forced to land in territory they controlled.

Yeah, about that:

Moldova’s interior minister on Wednesday said that three citizens were on a helicopter ambushed by Taliban insurgents in northwestern Afghanistan.

The interior minister, Oleg Balan, said in Chisinau that two Moldovan pilots and a flight engineer were operating the helicopter, which he said belonged to a Moldovan company doing a U.N. peacekeeping mission.

Afghan officials said the privately contracted helicopter, which was carrying military personnel, made an emergency landing Tuesday in a Taliban-controlled region of the Faryab province after suffering a technical problem.

Not American, which is good ... but still a bummer for the two Moldovans who are apparently being held captive by the Taliban.

Shocking News! CAIR Victim Arrested For Attempting to Join ISIS

Famous last words come back to haunt Saadiq Long, "If the U.S. government wanted me to question or arrest or prosecute me, they could have had me in a minute."

Officials said the Muslim man, Saadiq Long, 45, was attempting to join ISIS.

We accept your invitation Mr. Long. Please have a seat, someone will be attending to you shortly.

Out: Moderate Muslims
In: Jihadi John Beautiful, Kind and Humble

If Jihadi John was your brand of kind then step right up, otherwise get lost.

Despite allegedly banning journalists Mona Eltahawy, London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) is proudly hosting Asim Qureshi of the Salafist ‘human rights’ group CAGE tonight at an event called “Islamophobia and British values”.

Mr. Qureshi has personally described the ISIS executioner Jihadi John as a “beautiful”, “kind” and “humble” man.

Liberal Muslim Ms. Eltahawy is unpopular with many conservative Muslims after writing books such as Headscarves and Hymens: Why the Middle East Needs a Sexual Revolution and speaking out against sexual violence in the Islamic world and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in her native Egypt

So wonder what CAGE has been up to. It seems they are all aflutter at the prospects for funding after a recent court ruling.

So awesome!

It's Worse: Two US Soldiers Allegedly Captured by Taliban -- UPDATE: US Denies, but might be American Contractors

No words:

The Taliban in Afghanistan reportedly captured 13 Afghan soldiers in Faryab province on the border of Turkmenistan Tuesday after a helicopter crash, Reuters reported. Three soldiers were killed in the crash, police said. The helicopter could have also been carrying U.S. military personnel.
The Taliban are claiming that two US soldiers made it out alive and are now in their custody:

They are also showing the body of a man they claim is a dead US soldier. The body in question, though, appears to be that of ANA, not American. That's according to someone on Twitter who responded to the image. Either way, that one I'm not posting.

They also claim they shot down the helicopter. It's not clear why the helicopter crashed, what is clear is that the photo they are tweeting with the statement is a photoshop. A bad one.

You'll notice that I removed the name of the person tweeting. Why? REASONS.

UPDATE: It looks like there were no American military on board, and maybe even no Americans -- NYT:

But American officials said there were no American citizens aboard the aircraft. Officials said that they were looking into the possibility that an American company was operating the aircraft under contract with the Afghan Army but that they could not confirm whether that was the case.

Col. Michael T. Lawhorn, a spokesman for United States forces in Afghanistan, said that although he was aware of reports of an aircraft crash, “we have no reports at this time of any Americans being on board.”

So let's hope that the Taliban jumped the gun on this and misidentified those captured. Worst case is that these are US contractors.

The good news is that the Taliban aren't ISIS. If Americans are on board, they won't kill them, they'll hold out for ransom. Yeah, I know, not really "good news", but it's better than some of the alternatives.

Rusty's Plan for ISIS, Europe, and Pretty Much Everything from Now On

What have I learned over the past decade and a half? No matter how hard we try, there's nothing we can do to bring peace and stability to the Middle East. So, we shouldn't try.

So, my plan for ISIS? Nothing. We should do absolutely nothing.

If ISIS is a threat to people in Syria, it's time for them to pick up guns and fight back. Ok, some have fought back, but for young men of military age who are able to fight the option cannot be live in a refugee camp or migrate to Europe. The option has to be live under ISIS or fight. No other choices.

If Europe really wanted to end the conflict, they'd start sending "refugees" back home with rifles. And TOWs.

It's their problem, let them solve it.

Think of it as a sort of "draft" for refugees. Even in our own most righteous war, most of our soldiers didn't volunteer. There's a good chance that your grandfather didn't volunteer, he was drafted. 61% of service members in WWII were drafted.

And if they can't or won't fight and win, then ISIS gets a state. And if this state is such a threat to its neighbors in Iraq or Jordan or Turkey, then let Iraq or Jordan or Turkey fight them.

And if ISIS wins, then let the Europeans fight them.

It's time for the rest of the world to start pulling their own weight. I'm done with helping out countries in the Middle East. Protecting maps that I did not help draw and which need to be redrawn any way.

But Rusty, you might say, what about Israel?!? The same goes with Israel. I support Israel's right to self defense, but as far as I can tell the only people helped by our "support" of Israel since the mid 1970s have been Israel's enemies.

Wars start for many reasons, but one of those reasons is that new conflicts are often a continuation of the unresolved conflict. WWI didn't really end until the Russians left nary a building standing in Berlin in May of 1945.

There are also many reasons Europe has seen it's most peaceful 70 years in its long, bloody history. One of those reasons, though, is the mass ethnic cleansing that took place after WWII. Today there are very few Germans in the Sudetenland, few Poles left in Ukraine, and East Prussia not even a glimmer of a memory in the mind of Leftist protesters.

Part of the price of European peace and prosperity were paid by the millions killed in the war and displaced by the policies of "population exchange".

If the Middle East must go up in flames, then it's a tragedy, but it's not our tragedy. My instincts say that the Kurds and Israelis would come out on top of such a conflict. And these are pretty much the only two groups of people in the region that I give any amount of a damn about.

I say pretty much because such a regional conflict would also involve a lot of Christians in the cross hairs. Such Christians really ought to get together and come up something akin to Zionism. Since they are not safe in any Muslim majority country, it's time to leave and create their own state. If it was me I'd let them have as much of Lebanon as they could take by force, but I'm also not opposed them deciding where to go on their own terms.

Now, I know we don't live in the idealized world in which other peoples and other countries are prepared to solve their own problems. But whether they are capable of solving those problems becomes a moot point when we intervene and solve the problem for them. As long as we keep promising security, these peoples and countries will never take that security into their own hands.

I think the real problem here is that we have fooled ourselves into believing that human nature has changed. We cannot live with the idea of large scale war and suffering. When people suffer we must intervene, because .... suffering!

But war is just human nature writ large. Either fallen man or survival of the fittest, either explanation will do. People kill one another. It's bad, but people are bad. A person may be good, but not people.

People are going to suffer, no matter what we do. But trying to remove the symptoms often only prolong problems generally and in the Middle East specifically.

Not intervening and letting this thing work itself out is not an optimum solution, but when dealing with human affairs there rarely is an optimum solution.

Which is why, if we must intervene -- and I don't believe that we must -- then the next least worst option is -- and by this I mean less worse than the sort of intervening we are doing now which puts us in the forefront of ISIS's crosshairs without actually doing much damage to ISIS -- is ....

It's like Alderaan. It is as brutal as it seems, but there's no arguing that Alderaan was no longer a problem after the Death Star incident.

How The Quran Justifies The Paris Attacks

Twitter is full of Muslims and apologists who are quoting portions of Quran verse 5:32:

"Whoever kills a person, it is as though he has killed all of mankind."

The problem is, the quote above is incomplete. What is missing is the beginning where it starts out addressing Jews:

"We prescribe to the children of Israel..."

That part is always left out, either ignorantly or deliberately. The next verse, Quran verse 5:33, addresses Muhammad's Muslims:

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned;

What is mischief? Well, the Quran gives several examples of mischief. Verse 16:88 says rejecting Allah is spreading mischief. Unbelief causes mischief according to verse 8:73 and verse 38:28. Jews, by their very existence according to Quran verse 5:64, cause mischief. So, according to the Quran, rejecting Allah is cause enough to punish non-Muslims.

David Wood explores verse 5:32-33, and analyses this concept of "mischief" as it relates to the Paris attacks in the video below.

A Common Link: The Paris Attacks And The BDS Movement

The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has been rampaging across college campuses and the world for several years now. It is an anti-Israeli campaign designed to promote the legitimacy of a Palestinian State.

So, what does it have to do with the terrorist attacks in Paris? It appears that both, the BDS and the ISIS perpetrators, have a common hatred for the Bataclan Theater solely because it is Jewish owned. The only difference is the level of violence each is willing to use to get their point across.

I24 News, via Legal Insurrection, writes about the BDS:

The threats against the Bataclan go back several years, with the venue often being a target of anti-Zionist groups. In 2007 and 2008, the theater received threats from radical groups due to its regular hosting of the conferences and galas of Jewish organizations, including one for the Israeli border police.

In December 2008, during Israel's Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip, threats to the Bataclan intensified and became more specific. A video was posted on the internet showing a group of youths with their faces masked, threatening the concert hall for its support of an event in honor of the Israeli border police.

Furthermore, pro-Palestinian associations have launched numerous petitions and encouraged their supporters to write to the authorities to protest the Bataclan's hosting of pro-Israeli military events.

In 2011, Le Figaro reported that Farouk Ben Abbes, a Belgian national arrested in Egypt after the terror attack on a group of French students in Cairo in February that killed 17-year-old Cecile Vannier, had confessed that he "was planning an attack against the Bataclan in France."

Three days after the attack on the French students, a report written by the General Directorate for External Security (DGSE) in Cairo indicated that the teenagers had been targeted by a militant group who wanted them "to pay for France's participation in Germinal boat blockade of Gaza" [a French-Israeli operation to stop the transfer of weapons to the coastal enclave].

In a series of arrests in May 2009, Egyptian State Security arrested seven suspects in connection with the attack on the French teens, one of whom justified possible attacks on the Bataclan on the grounds that "the owners are Jews."

The video mentioned is here:

This is a translated quote from the video (emphasis mine): "If the Bataclan and Migdal organize, as in previous years, a gala for Magav, the border police of the Israeli army, people will not take it anymore and you will pay the consequences of your actions. The next time it will not come to talk."

As Professor Jacobson of Legal Insurrection mentions, the two may not be directly connected. However, it does illustrate a shared, anti-Semitic history within the student BDS movement and terror groups such as ISIS.

An enemy of my enemy is my friend. But by the same token, a friend of my enemy is my enemy. Especially when that enemy is as vicious and barbaric as ISIS.

A few days ago, I posted this video of Douglas Murray discussing "moderate" Muslims. I'm going to post it again here, because it perfectly illustrates, particularly at the 1:20 mark, how the BDS movement uses veiled threats of violence while maintaining a peaceful facade.

Ongoing Large Scale Terror in France -- Foggy Info, but Dozens Dead, Possible Mass Scale Hostage Situtation

This looks like it's a big one. Worse than the Charlie Hebdo attacks, with multiple bombings, shootings, and a possible ongoing hostage situation with up to 60 being held.

Echos of the Mumbai massacre:

Two police officials said at least 26 people have been killed in shootings and explosions around Paris Friday, in the deadliest violence in France in decades.

A police official said 11 people were killed in a Paris restaurant in the 10th arrondissement, and about 15 killed in the Bataclan theater, where a hostage-taking is under way.

This is ongoing and I won't be able to keep up with all the breaking developments.

My prayers are with Parisians.

More specifically with the Paris police. The ones with guns.

This is not good ...

There's are a bunch of people livetweeting this. I mean, right now, live.

Explosions during a soccer match between Germany and France (if I recall right).

UPDATE: I took down the short video, because it was a Vine and the autoplay feature is annoying.

But here's some pretty gruesome street footage:

The aftermath on the streets ...

And the stadium being evacuated ...

The hostages are said to be in a theater where a band that Josh Homme, the lead singer of Queen of the Stone Ages, is playing. So, that's not good.

This is developing. I really can't keep up. Just remember that a lot of reports that come out during an incident like this or shortly after often turn out to be wrong.

Also, the spin. Just ignore the spin.

Jihadi John Evaporated in Drone Strike

We didn't just kill him, there was nothing left but a smoking greasy spot where he once sat.

The world's most wanted man, Jihadi John, is believed to have been killed in a U.S. drone strike at the very heart of the Islamic State's Syrian capital where it stages horrific public executions.
Pentagon officials are '99 per cent' sure they have wiped out British ISIS executioner Mohammed Emwazi in the centre of the terror group's stronghold of Raqqa late last night.

The 27-year-old from London, who appeared in sickening beheading videos of Western hostages including two British aid workers, was 'evaporated' by a missile as he climbed into a vehicle.

'He walked out of a building and got in the car. We struck it right after with zero collateral damage

Hey Johnny boy!

Its reported that all four of the English Jihadis known as the Fab Four were killed in the strike.

LoneWolfe Has a Very Bad Day

An Akron, Ohio, man was arrested today on federal charges that he solicited the murder of members of the U.S. military.

Terrence J. McNeil, 25, appeared in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Ohio after being charged with one count of solicitation of a crime of violence.

The charge was announced by Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach of the Northern District of Ohio and Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony of the FBI’s Cleveland Division.

“According to the allegations in the complaint, Terrence McNeil solicited the murder of members of our military by disseminating ISIL’s violent rhetoric, circulating detailed U.S. military personnel information, and explicitly calling for the killing of American service members in their homes and communities,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “ISIL and its followers continue to use social media in an attempt to incite violence around the world, including in the United States. The National Security Division's highest priority is counterterrorism and we will use all of our tools to disrupt threats and acts of violence against our military members and their families.”

“As this nation honors our veterans, we must make clear that we will not tolerate threats of violence against our service members,” said U.S. Attorney Dettelbach. “This defendant is charged with urging harm to our men and women in uniform and will now answer for those threats.”

“While we aggressively defend First Amendment rights, the individual arrested went far beyond free speech by reposting names and addresses of 100 U.S. service members, all with the intent to have them killed,” said Special Agent in Charge Anthony. “We will remain vigilant in our efforts to stop those who wish to support these despicable acts.”

According to an affidavit filed in the case:

McNeil professed his support on social media on numerous occasions for the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

On or about Sept. 24, 2015, using a Tumblr account, McNeil reblogged a file with the banner “Islamic State Hacking Division,” followed by “Target: United States Military” and “Leak: Addresses of 100 U.S. Military Personnel.”

The file type is a .gif file, which allows multiple still images to be looped in one file, with a timed delay between each image. The text of the first file reads “O Brothers in America, know that the jihad against the crusaders is not limited to the lands of the Khilafah, it is a world-wide jihad and their war is not just a war against the Islamic State, it is a war against Islam…Know that it is wajib (translated to “necessary”) for you to kill these kuffar! and now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for? Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe…”

The file then loops several dozen photographs, purportedly of U.S. military personnel, along with their respective name, address and military branch.

The final image looped is a picture of a handgun and a knife with text that reads “…and kill them wherever you find them…”

A charge is not evidence of guilt. It is the government’s burden to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, and a defendant is presumed innocent until that time.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Cleveland. This case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Ohio and the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.

Source, Complaint(pdf).

Terrence was fond of saying Allah is the Best of Planners, but apparently Allahs plan within plans also included a long stay in Federal Pound LoneWolfe in the Ass Prison.

Sandcrawler PSA: Your Country is Finished

Allahpundit nails it.

You know that right?

“Felt aggressed upon” isn’t Melissa Click’s wording, it’s how a Mizzou administrator who spoke to her afterward about what happened characterized her feelings. Even so, it’s a superb Orwellian turn of phrase and true to the spirit of “safe space” fascism. “Aggression” can mean almost anything — actual violence, angry speech, or even refusing to move when some strutting sensitivity capo tells you to haul your ass out of her sight before she calls over some guys to remove you forcibly.

Your country is finished. You know that, right?

After reading and watching the videos I'm reminded of children on a trip to grandmas, Stop touching me! Mom! Billy is on my side!

Of course she doesn't even own her side its public property paid for by federal and state taxpayers, The supreme court has ruled there is no expectation of privacy in a public space.

So I suppose they have some grand plan for after the revolution? No, no they don't.

And you wonder why Trump is so popular? Maybe Americans want their country back.

al-Qaeda: The Kinder Gentler Islamic Terrorists?

Things are going so well that now al-Qaeda are the moderates. Awesome!

Long War Journal: Al Risalah’s newest edition includes an interview with a jihadist known as Usama Hamza Australi, who is originally from Queensland, Australia. “I’ve been a member of Al Qaeda for approximately fourteen years – since mid-2001 until today,” Australi says. “I’m currently in Syria as a member of Al Qaeda Central (AQC), working on their behalf with [Al Nusrah Front].”

Al Qaeda is using the Islamic State to reposition itself as a supposedly more “moderate” jihadist organization.

“One of the greatest things about IS [Islamic State] its that before people saw al Qaeda and the Mujahideen (in general) as the extremists, and those that abstain from jihad as the normal ‘moderate’ Muslims (following the middle-way),” Australi explains. “But now the truth has come out — the Mujahideen are in fact upon the correct and ‘moderate’ path, with IS being the extremists.”

Australi concludes: “So I think that IS is a blessing in disguise for the Muslim Ummah [worldwide community of Muslims].”

So if you find yourself being beheaded and the guy slowly sawing your head off is al-Nusra, rest assured that he's really really doing it for Allah, not just like those other guys who are just depraved and hiding behind Allah.

Fox Lake Officer Who Caused Massive Manhunbt Killed Himself in Staged Suicide

You know my question at the time was he was two days from retirement, some dudes smoking crack, drive right on on by. Why screw it all up on the last day of duty over some crackheads? I dunno.

I also thought the response was over the top. Militaristic but what do you expect from Chicago? And even then they found nothing.

In September, Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, a police officer in Fox Lake, Ill., radioed in one morning to say he was pursuing three possible suspects. A short time later, he was found with a fatal gunshot wound, sparking a massive manhunt that sent scores of police officers and federal agents sweeping through the area.

Two months later, however, police say that Gliniewicz, a man known to many as “G.I. Joe,” was not among the handful of police officers shot and killed by a suspect this year. Instead, he was among the much larger number of Americans who take their own lives each year.

Gliniewicz’s death “was a carefully staged suicide,” Cmdr. George Filenko of the task force said during a news conference Wednesday morning. “We have determined that this suicide was the end result of extensive criminal acts that Gliniewicz had committed.”

...Filenko said the investigation showed that Gliniewicz had stolen funds in his role with the Fox Lake police department, saying that police found incriminating statements, deleted messages and forged signatures during the process.

And the scam continued after his death.

Wow, just wow.

Intifada Comes To NYC

The mainstream media is ignoring.

At around 8:30 Tuesday evening, a 34-year-old Orthodox Jewish man – who happens to be a volunteer for Hatzalah – was stabbed in the back by an assailant who snuck up on him from behind. The incident occurred on Eastern Parkway between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues in Crown Heights.

Previous reports that there were two stabbing victims are unfounded. An unrelated emergency medical call to Hatzalah that occurred around the same time appears to have led to the confusion.

The victim was walking westbound along Eastern Parkway – about 150 feet before Rogers Ave. – when the incident occurred. Police say the assailant first walked by him going eastbound, and then after they passed each other he turned around and stabbed him in the back.

This video supposedly shows the incident, but I can't make anything out:

This local news report from ABC 7 News adds few details:

Yeah, It Was The Pepsi... Let's Go With That.

From The Mirror:

A mother died after her "excessive consumption" of caffeine from drinking litres of Pepsi Max reacted with prescription drugs she was taking, an inquest heard .

Victoria Lane would drink up to four two-litre bottles of the fizzy drink every day in an effort to help her combat a dry mouth, which she would get as a result of taking prescription drugs.

At an inquest into her death, the coroner was told how the 38-year-old had struggled with depression and paranoia for many years and turned to alcohol to cope - at times downing a litre of vodka a day.

Her son further explained:

"When mum was drinking heavily she could get through a one-litre bottle of vodka a day and four two-litre bottles of Pepsi Max." [...]

"She was never any bother to anyone in the street. I don't think anyone would ever think that drinking too much fizzy pop could kill you.

I double-checked. This was not from The Onion.

So, being as health conscious as I am, I think I'll drop the cola mixer from my whiskey drinks from now on.

"While Europe Is Flooded With An Islamic Plague, Let Us Stand In Defence Of Christianity"

Polish soccer fans unfurl a 75-foot banner depicting the Islamic invasion of Europe. At the top of the banner are the words, ""While Europe Is Flooded With An Islamic Plague" in Polish and the smaller banner continues, "Let Us Stand In Defence Of Christianity":

Breitbart reported on the event:

Just a week after Poland voted to kick out every left-wing member of it's national parliament, ordinary Poles have again shown the spirit which led them to elect the nationalist conservative Law and Justice party, with football fans unveiling an over-sized anti-migration banner at Sunday's match.

The hand-painted sheet, which is estimated to have been at least 50 feet tall and 75 feet wide depicts boatloads of migrants preparing to land on the southern shore of Europe. Many of the boat's crews make the one fingered 'ISIS salute.'

Defending Europe while clutching a sword and a shield showing the crest of the Silesian Wrocław football club, a St. George's cross-wearing crusader stands ready to fight the migrants, below writing which reads "While Europe Is Flooded With An Islamic Plague."

Underneath, another 100 foot wide banner hangs from the stalls behind the goal and reads, in a traditional Polish script: "Let Us Stand In Defence Of Christianity."

Here's a better angle of both banners:

Russian Airliner Down in Egypt (Bumped Updated: "External Influence Plane Broke Apart Midair)

The place had just left Sharm al Sheik. Russian media claims technical issues. Islamic State in Sinai claims shot down.

224 dead. Full report here.

The aircraft, which had 200 adult passengers, 17 children and seven crew crashed less than 25 minutes after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Irish-owned aircraft was leased by a Russian airline who were carrying package holiday passengers back to St Peterburg in northern Russia.

It crashed in the Hassana area, south of Arish. Security forces discovered the crash wreckage in a remote mountainous area in a region containing many ISIS-affiliated terrorists.
Egyptian sources are claiming that wreckage has been spread over a three-mile area while an ISIS-affiliate has tried to claim responsibility for the disaster.
According to the statement: 'The soldiers of the caliphate succeeded in bringing down a Russian plane in Sinai.'
Russian transport minister Maksim Sokolov dismissed the ISIS claims. He said: 'This information cannot be considered accurate. We are in close contact with our Egyptian colleagues and aviation authorities in the country. At present, they have no information that would confirm such insinuations.'

The first bodies have already been removed from the crash scene and are being removed to Cairo where postmortems will be performed to try and determine when the passengers died.

Military experts dismissed claims that ISIS would have been able to 'shoot down' the jet from cruising altitude using a surface-to-air missile, however, an on-board bomb could be a possibility.

So if I were ISIS I'd hide because the Russians are going to be so pissed off, and we here in the US are going to let them.
The only reasonable explanation for the crash of a Russian passenger jet in Egypt is "an external influence," an executive from the airline that operated the flight said Monday, stressing that planes don't just break apart in midair.

Kogalymavia Flight 9268 broke into pieces before it hit the ground in a remote area of Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula on Saturday, killing all 224 people on board.

The executive was not specific about what he meant by an external influence. Experts say it is too early to know for certain what caused the plane to break up at the start of what could be a lengthy investigation.

"We exclude technical problems and reject human error," Alexander Smirnov, a Kogalymavia airline official, said at a Moscow news conference as he discussed possible causes of the crash.

He added that the crew did not issue any warnings or communications during the final moments, indicating that the flight crew must have been disabled and not able to radio out.

And to the Russians, if you lie with dogs, you get fleas.

Don't get fleas.

Update: It appears that Russian retribution is at hand.

I promise to protest Russian brutality as enough after the third nuke falls on Islamic State.

RIP Fred Thompson

Fred Thomson Died today from lymphoma

Fred Thompson, an actor who became a US senator for Tennessee and ran for the presidency in 2008, has died. He was 73.

A statement from the Thompson family said: “It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family.”

The statement, which the Tennessean newspaper reported said Thompson died from a recurrence of lymphoma, added: “Fred believed that the greatness of our nation was defined by the hard work, faith, and honesty of its people.

Fred was also as you know an actor, Variety also has an obit here.
After Thompson’s acting role in “Marie,” director Roger Donaldson then cast him in “No Way Out” (1987) opposite Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman, and Thompson quickly got the reputation as an actor who could portray a high-powered politican.

He would go on to appear in films “Die Hard 2,” “The Hunt for Red October” and “Days of Thunder” in the ’90s before joining “Law & Order.”

Thompson joined the NBC procedural in 2002, during the final months of his Senate run. He left in 2007, most likely to prepare for his presidential bid that would come that year.

His other film credits include “Cape Fear,” “In the Line of Fire,” “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” “Thunderheart” and “Born Yesterday.” He also appeared on episodes of “Sex and the City,” “The Good Wife,” “Life on Mars,” “Wiseguy,” “Roseanne” and “Matlock.”

Yes, I see those elephants over there, not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent.

Anyway the most endearing feature of Fred was his voice, that easy going southern good ol' boy voice.

His Official obit is here at the Tennessean.

NC Still A Sanctuary City State

Despite the new bill passed and signed by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory banning cities from setting up "safe" cities for illegals, the state still maintains some sanctuary cities:
