Orange County Man Gets 13 Yrs. for Trying to Join al Qaeda

Too bad he wasn't prosecuted for treason. We are still at war with al Qaeda, right? Or did we, according to Obama, already win that one?

Here's the FBI presser:

LOS ANGELES—An Orange County man who admitted that he intended to assist al Qaeda by traveling to Pakistan, where he would provide weapons training to members of the terrorist group, was sentenced this morning to 13 years in federal prison.

Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen, 25, of Garden Grove, California, was sentenced by United States District Judge John F. Walter, who called the crime “a very serious offense that requires a correspondingly long sentence.”

Nguyen pleaded guilty late last year to one count of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Nguyen, who also used the name Hasan Abu Omar Ghannoum, admitted that in late 2012 he travelled to Syria where he joined opposition forces. Using a social network site during a four-month period he was in Syria, Nguyen told people that he was fighting against the Assad regime and that he had had a “confirmed kill.” After he returned to the United States, Nguyen told associates that he had offered to train al Qaeda forces in Syria, but his offer had been turned down.

Between August 3 and October 11, 2013 Nguyen met with a man he thought was an al Qaeda recruiter, but who in fact was working with the FBI. Within the first few minutes of their first meetings, Nguyen began questioning the man to determine if he was a fellow jihadist, according to a plea agreement filed in federal court. Nguyen told the man about his exploits in Syria and said he wanted to return to jihad because “this was what he was born to do.” During their meetings, Nguyen and the man he thought was an al Qaeda recruiter discussed how Nguyen could travel to Pakistan under a fraudulently obtained United States passport. After Nguyen gave the purported recruiter a photo of himself and a passport application with bogus information, Nguyen agreed to travel to Pakistan, where he would train 30 al Qaeda fighters for 5 or 6 weeks to prepare them “for a guerilla warfare ambush attack on coalition forces” that would take place in late 2013, according to the plea agreement.

With the intention to travel to Pakistan to train al Qaeda forces for the ambush, Nguyen on October 1 purchased a plane ticket to travel from Mexico to Peshawar, Pakistan. On October 11, 2013, Nguyen went to a bus station in Santa Ana where he purchased a ticket to Mexico and was arrested by FBI agents. When he was taken into custody, Nguyen had in his possession the false passport and a computer hard drive that contained “over 180 training videos on shooting firearms.”

Nguyen has been in federal custody since his arrest.

The case against Nguyen is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Nigerian Islamists Celebrate World Cup in Traditional Way: Blowing up Churches

I'm sick of blaming terrorists. It's time to blame soccer:

An attack on churches in northeast Nigeria blamed on Boko Haram killed more than 50 people, an official said on Monday, overshadowing festivities ahead of a last-16 World Cup match against France.

Gunmen stormed Sunday services in four villages near Chibok in Borno state where Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls on April 14.
They hurled explosives into churches, torched buildings and fired on worshippers as they tried to flee, residents said.

“So far we have 54 dead,” said a Borno state official, who requested anonymity as he was not authorised to discuss casualties with the media

Jesus wept.

So, if Islamic State is a "Country" Now ....

... does that mean we can declare war, carpet bomb them, then round up their leaders and try them for war crimes before executing them? If only:

In an audio statement posted online that coincided with the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a spokesman for the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), announced that the group's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was the "caliph," or leader, of a state whose territory extended from the city of Aleppo in northwestern Syria, to Diyala province in northeastern Iraq.

The spokesman, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, described al-Baghdadi as "the imam and khalifah (caliph) for the Muslims everywhere." He also said that with the establishment of the caliphate, the group was changing its name to just the Islamic State, dropping the mention of Iraq and the Levant.

"The legality of all emirates, groups, states and organizations becomes null by the expansion of the caliph's authority and the arrival of its troops to their areas," al-Adnani continued. "Listen to your caliph and obey him. Support your state, which grows every day."

My opinion? Part of me says let them have their caliphate. It's about time the Islamist supporters realized their dreams and are forced to lie in the beds they've made.

Like communism, the fantasy of the ideal will only be crushed by the hard facts of reality: life under Islamic law is oppressive.

Then again, it took 50+ years for the Soviet Empire to collapse under it's own weight. Can we really wait 50 years for these people to figure out that their utopian experiment is doomed to failure from the start?

That's not really a rhetorical question. I'm actually torn as to what our response, if any, should be.

Syrian Father Kidnapped Australian Girl Forced Her To Marry at 13

The good news, she escaped Syria. The bad news, she is scarred for life.

An Australian girl who was kidnapped, beaten and married off to her older cousin by her father’s family in Syria at the age of 13 has spoken out about her horrific five-year ordeal for the first time.

Rania Farrah was on what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime to Egypt to visit the pyramids with her older brother but instead ended up being turned into a child bride by her own family.

Appearing on Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes on Sunday night, Ms Farrah revealed she planned to commit suicide if her escape plan on her 18th birthday didn't work, and said: ‘I was just in a depression the whole time I was there… I just thought of Australia.

On Sunday, Ms Farrah described her father as ‘an evil person, he’s the most evil person you’ll ever meet’.
Its in the Koran you know.

Report: Three Kidnapped Israeli Teens Found Murdered

Israel’s army has found three bodies near the West Bank city of Hebron, Al-Jazeera reported, as the security services search for three kidnapped teenagers who disappeared on June 12.

The broadcaster didn’t say where it got the information and no further details were available. Israeli forces have closed off Halhoul, an outlaying area of Hebron which has been a focal point of the search for the missing youths, Palestinians in the area said. Israel’s Channel 2 television said the Israeli cabinet was holding an emergency meeting.

Our hearts go out to the Nation of Israel and to the families of Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel.

May they rest in peace and may justice be swift.

One of the teens was also an American citizen. So its again an attack on boht the US and Israel.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Hobby Lobby vs ObamaCare

President Obama is not having much luck in court. Nope, not much at all. Ironic considering he claims to be a Constitutional Lawyer.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that closely held companies cannot be required to pay to cover some types of contraceptives for their employees, ending its term with a narrow legal and political setback for a controversial part of President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law.

The owners of Hobby Lobby, furniture maker Conestoga Wood Specialties and Christian bookseller Mardel argued that the Affordable Care Act violates the First Amendment and other federal laws protecting religious freedom because it requires them to provide coverage for contraceptives like the "morning-after pill," which the companies consider tantamount to abortion.

The decision, which comes two years after the justices narrowly preserved the Affordable Care Act and its key funding provision, could serve as a primer for other pending challenges to the health law.

I bet Oliver Willis is literally drowning in donut glaze today.

Anyway maybe Obi-One spent too much time studying the wrong constitution?

Michael Wolfe Pleads Guilty

Everyone wave Buh Bye to Authentic Tauheed 19

A Texas man pleaded guilty Friday to attempting to aid Sunni militant group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), federal prosecutors said.

Michael Wolfe, 23, said he planned to travel to the Middle East to provide material support to ISIS. He was arrested last week at the George H.W. Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport.

“Appearing before United States Magistrate Judge Mark Lane, Wolfe admitted that from August 2013 to June 17, 2014, he planned to travel to the Middle East to provide his services to a foreign terrorist organization, namely, the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham/Syria (ISIS) and to engage in violent jihad in Syria,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas said in a statement.

Wolfe is facing 15 years.

Previous coverage and complaint against Wolfe is here.

Hat Tip: Dina.

But joining up with ISIS is illegal. The group's on the State Department's list of designated terrorist organizations. And in fact, the first American case involving ISIS was resolved today. Michael Wolfe, who is a young man from Texas, just pleaded guilty to attempting to provide support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization and that organization was ISIS. And he faces up to 15 years in jail. And those are the first terrorist charges in the U.S. that we've seen directly related to ISIS.
OFAC designation is here.
Notice I've emboldened ISIS' media wing al-Furqan.

Libyan Activist for Democracy We F*cked Up

Its not so much that you F*cked up, well kinda.

On June 25th, in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, the lawyer and democracy activist Salwa Bugaighis was killed, bringing despair to those who knew her. Bugaighis, a bright, funny, courageous woman, fifty years old, was fighting for a democratic, open society. Along with her husband, Issam, and her sister Iman, she was at the forefront of the uprising against Muammar Qaddafi; later, she sat on the hastily declared transitional council that sought to bring order to the excited anarchy that followed Qaddafi’s fall.

As that anarchy turned to bedlam, Bugaighis worked to reconcile Libya’s feuding groups—even as her life was threatened, and as other critics of the militias were murdered. She had been spending time abroad, because of such threats, but came home for the elections.Yesterday, just after she returned from voting in parliamentary elections, gunmen surprised her at her house and shot her to death. Issam, who was abducted in the incident, is still missing. A Libyan friend of Bugaighis told me, “I am shocked beyond words. Sometimes I think that we just fucked up by removing Qaddafi—that I would rather live under a dictator and not worry about the safety of my family.”

The major major F8ckup belongs to Barack Obama for handing Libya to the Jihadist, then spiking the football and walking away after Gaddafi was murdered.

And lets face it Gadaffi was murdered by Jihadists. Not by any democratic activists and those Obama's fantasy was that once Gadaffi was gone, the Jihadists would just fade into history. What an idiot.

Sandcrawler PSA: ISIS Supporters Threaten Every American Citizen

Every single one.

The goal of ISIL is far larger than capturing Baghdad and Iraq. Their sights are set on attacking America, which they consider the Great Satan.
We cannot rely on the Obama Doctrine, which says that if you leave jihadists alone, they’ll leave you alone. Following that approach can get you beheaded. Or blown up by an airliner.

In a new Twitter hash tag hate campaign against America Muslims in support of ISIS threaten war and to attack the US on its own soil. There are even threats of an attack today.

The campaign so far as I can tell has two goals, the first being to troll the US into a new war in Iraq, ISIS believes it can maintain its current momentum if only it c can drag the US directly into the conflict.

Second, if we are drug in then we'll get the blame and the responsibility of rebuilding what they have destroyed.

I say, let them roll in the giant shitpile they've created and don't let the them shift the responsibility for all the death and destruction that's been created to far be shifted from ISIS to anyone else. Long term make ISIS and its supporters like Saudi Arabia and Qatar accept the blame for what they are doing.

If Iran needs a bit of help, if the balance of Shia VS Sunni power gets a little out of whack. Well we can fix that.

So leave them to it, but the danger is real. We are already being blamed for the actions of the Syrian Air force and Malakis defense of Iraq.

If an attack happens, we can't pussyfoot around this time. We can't go in and fight a low level insurgency against the feinting groups like ISIS. Nor will be be able to afford to rebuild these nations, to support the same people who are wishing us death.... again.

No we already tried "helping", it was and still is a bad idea. This time we'll have to be.

I'm not interested in another war in the middle east. I'd just as soon leave them to kill each other. But should one come I for one have run completely out of patience and mercy.

Kurds Ice UK Jihadi

Gotta love those Kurds, tell me again why we didn't just give them the entire Northern No Fly Zone when we had the chance?

A first British jihadist is believed to have been killed fighting in Iraq's civil war, intelligence officials in the east of the country have told The Telegraph.
The man has not been identified but is believed to be British of Arab origin, according to intelligence officials attached to the Peshmerga, the ethnic Kurdish forces who are holding up the advance of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham across the north and east of Iraq.

He died in heavy fighting for the town of Jalawla on Wednesday, along with dozens of other fighters, Rooz Bahjat, a senior security official said, speaking at a base in the town of Khanaqin 12 miles away.

The Telegraph was shown a photograph of the man's body. He is pale-skinned with blue eyes, but of Mediterranean appearance. He wears a long beard in the style associated with the radical Salafi version of Sunni Islam, without a moustache.

Mr Bahjat said Kurdish fighters, some of whom were themselves brought up in exile in Britain, recognised a British accent among the voices of the foreign fighters who were leading the other side of the battle.

I'm sure he has some stupid Kunya like al-Brittani. Anyone missing?

Hellfires: The Ultimate Lulz

I wished I had said that, but no it was John Little at Blogs of War discussing the social media boomerang that ISIS is creating.

A rapid stream of ISIS victories, massive amounts of media coverage and millions of breathless tweets have had a powerful combined effect on the group's image. Like LulzSec at it's height they appear to be unstoppable....

...So when looking at groups like this it's important to remember that Superpowers don't tweet their way to lulz. They use intelligence, police work, courts and the occasional missile. And Hellfires are the ultimate last lulz.

Speaking of LUTZ.

John is more right that he knows. The stiff above, the former ISIS media wing leader. After his death there was no one to pose his Martyrs smile and add the finger pointy indicating the Oneness of Allah.

Gotta Love the Poles

Poland’s Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski did not mince words when going into detail over his view of the Obama administration and its impact upon American foreign relations with other nations who once considered themselves staunch allies of the United States. Now, after nearly six years of Barack Obama, those former allies view relations with the U.S. as “worthless”.
“You know that the Polish-US alliance isn’t worth anything.”

“It is downright harmful, because it creates a false sense of security … Complete bullshit. We’ll get in conflict with the Germans, Russians and we’ll think that everything is super, because we gave the Americans a blow job. Losers. Complete losers.”Obama's doing a heckuva job in our relations with the leaders in Eastern European freedom there, no?

Where's Rusty? Poop Bandit Policy Edition

He's working as a policy consultant at EPA drawing up a policy that both respects workers' rights and deals with the Poop Bandit issue.

In the email, obtained by Government Executive, Deputy Regional Administrator Howard Cantor mentioned “several incidents” in the building, including clogging the toilets with paper towels and “an individual placing feces in the hallway” outside the restroom.

Confounded by what to make of this occurrence, EPA management “consulted” with workplace violence “national expert” John Nicoletti, who said that hallway feces is in fact a health and safety risk. He added the behavior was “very dangerous” and the individuals responsible would “probably escalate” their actions.

“Management is taking this situation very seriously and will take whatever actions are necessary to identify and prosecute these individuals,” Cantor wrote. He asked for any employees with knowledge of the poop bandit or bandits to notify their supervisor.

I'm like, you know, almost jealous that I'm not holding a degree in political science so I can work on the leading issues of the day.

I'm going out on a limb here, I think we can exclude any registered Republicans from the Poop Bandit suspect list. I mean I could be wrong, except I'm not.

Good News! al-Nusra Joins ISIS Umbrella

Channel News Asia:

Al-Qaeda's Syrian offshoot issued a loyalty pledge on Wednesday to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant at a tinderbox town on the Iraqi border, a monitor said.

The merger is significant as it opens the way for ISIL to take control of both sides of the border at Albu Kamal in Syria and Al-Qaim in Iraq, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

ISIL -- which aspires to create an Islamic state that straddles Iraq and Syria -- has spearheaded a lightning jihadist offensive that has captured swathes of territory north and west of Baghdad this month.

After months of clashes between the two sides, Al-Qaeda's official Syrian arm the Al-Nusra Front "pledged loyalty to ISIL" in Albu Kamal, said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

"The pledge comes amid advances by ISIL in Deir Ezzor province" in eastern Syria on the Iraqi border, Abdel Rahman told AFP.

An ISIL jihadist confirmed the reports on Twitter, and posted a photograph showing an Egyptian Al-Nusra Front commander shaking hands with a ISIL leader of Chechen origin.

Can we nuke them now? Or do we wait till they get to Amman?

US Cuts Off Nose to Spite Its Face in Afghanistan

We deserve to lose, don't we?

A legendary Special Forces commander was quietly forced to leave the U.S. Army after he admitted to a love affair with a Washington Post war correspondent, who quit her job to secretly live with him for almost a year in one of the most dangerous combat outposts in Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Special Operations Command never publicly disclosed that highly-decorated Green Beret Major Jim Gant was relieved of command at the end of a harrowing 22 months in combat in March 2012.

By the time he was yanked out of Afghanistan two years later because of his relationship with Tyson, Gant also had won over three Pashtun tribes with substantial influence throughout Kunar province. Top commanders had tasked him with turning the tide of a conflict America was losing, and in his corner of the war, Gant was winning.

When you have a winner, you back him.

Bad-Ass Defined

"tough guy," 1950s U.S. slang, from bad + ass.
(Also, bad-assed.)
1. (of a person) difficult to deal with; mean-tempered; touchy.
2. distinctively tough or powerful; so exceptional as to be intimidating.
3. Staff Sergeant Ryan Pitts

A former Army staff sergeant is set to receive the Medal of Honor for his heroics during one of the deadliest battles of the U.S. campaign in Afghanistan.

Staff Sergeant Ryan Pitts from Nashua, New Hampshire, spent an agonizing 90 minutes fighting off enemy fighters despite shrapnel injuries to both legs and an arm that left the young soldier critically wounded and resigned to certain death. [...]

The medal recognizes the 'courageous actions' shown by Pitts while he served as a forward observer with 2nd Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, when Vehicle Patrol Base Kahler, near Wanat Village in Kunar Province, in remote northeastern Afghanistan, came under full-scale assault by approximately 200 Taliban fighters on July 13, 2008.

Nine paratroopers gave their lives and 27 were wounded at The Battle of Wanat.

Deep into battle, Pitts found himself alone at the observation post and losing blood. He radioed to tell his superiors that everyone else was either dead or gone, but was told reinforcements were not available.

Resigned to death, he began firing a grenade launcher almost directly overhead to where insurgents had concealed themselves.

Sudan Detains Meriam Yehya Ibrahim At Airport

Unfortunately Vinnie is prescient, he doubted that Sudan would let Meriam Yehya Ibrahim exit the country safely.

CNN: (CNN) -- A Sudanese Christian woman who'd been sentenced to die for refusing to renounce her faith -- and then released -- was rearrested Tuesday at an airport as she was trying to leave the African country, her legal team told CNN on Tuesday.

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, 27, her American husband, Daniel Wani, and their two children were stopped at an airport in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, and then detained and interrogated at Khartoum's national security headquarters, the legal team said.

Details about why the family was held weren't immediately available.
Wani, in a phone call to CNN, also said that he and his family were being held at the national security office, but did not provide details.

The developments came a day after Ibrahim's legal team announced she'd been released from prison after weeks of international controversy over her conviction on apostasy and adultery charges.

The case began when one of Ibrahim's brothers, a Muslim, filed a criminal complaint saying her family was shocked to find out Ibrahim had married Wani, a Christian, after she was missing for several years, according to her lawyer.
The court considered Ibrahim a Muslim because her father was Muslim, but she proclaimed to be a Christian. So she was charged with adultery, because a Muslim woman's marriage to a Christian man is illegal in Sudan, and with apostasy, accused of illegally renouncing her original faith.

Apostasy laws are a relic of the dark ages and any nation that still has them on the books should remove them post haste. Its why Sharia is antithetical to liberty.

The ball is now unfortunately in Obama's court.

Cornhole Watch: Kassim Alhimidi 26 Years to Life

We pray that Kassim keeps running his mouth thereby guaranteeing that his 26 years to life ends up being life.

A California judge sentenced an Iraqi immigrant Monday to 26 years-to-life in prison for his wife's fatal beating — an attack that initially drew international condemnation when authorities believed it was a hate crime.

The couple's oldest daughter, Fatima, found Shaima Alawadi, 32, in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor of their home in 2012 in El Cajon, a San Diego suburb that is home to the second-largest Iraqi population in the United States.

She died at a hospital two days later after suffering multiple fractures to her skull.

... Alhimidi will have to serve 26 years actual time before he is eligible for a parole hearing, but he will get credit for time already served since his November 2012 arrest.

Apparently Kassim would have rather been put to death that stay in prison, he offered to donate his organs. Well maybe, just maybe, one of the inmates will help him out.

But I kinda like that he's getting what he doesn't want. I'm also glad this is the very last time Kassim will appear on this blog.

Buh bye Kassim, don't let Bubba hit you where Allah split you.

Who Our SpecOps Troops Should Be Deploying For

Making she, her husband, and their children get out of Sudan safely. Not training Shia butchers to kill Sunni butchers.

Ibrahim, 27, refused to renounce her Christian faith in court in May, prompting a judge to sentence her to hang for apostasy. The case became an international cause, with several U.S. lawmakers and the State Department blasting the decision as barbaric. Sudan's national news service SUNA said the Court of Cassation in Khartoum on Monday canceled the death sentence after defense lawyers presented their case, and that the court ordered her release.

C'mon, Obama. You traded five Taliban commanders for one deserting traitor. You could at least atone for making sure she comes to America safe with her husband and kids.

Digging A Hole

And its getting deeper and deeper...

Nevermind all the other scandals perpetrated by this administration. The IRS scandal alone should be enough to bring down any administration (and would if this were a Republican administration.)

We have a computer crash that deleted emails on an individual computer. The hard drive on that computer was destroyed. The IRS hired an email archiving company to preserve emails through 2009, but that contract was canceled only days after the computer crash that deleted Lerner's emails.

What we have is a deliberate and concerted effort to eliminate evidence. This by itself is a huge scandal, but every day its getting worse and worse.

Why are bloggers and twitters doing all the uncovering? Congress, the Justice Department, committees, special prosecutors, etc. all seem to be complete impotent. The left-wing media is complicit in the cover-ups. It is only the works of bloggers and the pajama media that is exposing this scandal.

What has happened to our government? Not only is there this impotence and incompetence, but where is the accountability?

ISIS Orders Unmarried Women To "Sex Jihad"

In a religious culture that demands women be beaten or even executed for only looking at an unrelated male, Islamists are ordering males to send their unmarried female relatives to the mujahideen for sex in Iraq:

In the Name of Allah the Merciful

Subject: Mandate

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
The State of Nineveh

In the Name of Allah the Merciful

After liberation of the State of Nineveh, and the welcome shown by the people of the state to their brotherly mujahideen, and after the great conquest, and the defeat of the Safavid [Persian] troops in the State of Nineveh, and its liberation, and Allah willing, it will become the headquarters for the mujahideen. Therefore we request that the people of this state offer their unmarried women so that they can fulfill their duty of jihad by sex to their brotherly mujahideen. Failure to comply with this mandate will result in enforcing the laws of Sharia upon them.

Allah we have notified, Allah bear witness.

Ministry of Irony: Free Speech for ISIS?

I can't find it today, but a few days ago one of ISIS Twitter propagandists was complaining that Twitter "Violated his free speech rights." by suspending one of his accounts that was used to tweet out violent images of executions and Jihad.

My reply was that ISIS would not grant me free speech, free speech is a Kuffar rule, not a tenant of Sharia.

Today at Gateway Pundit there is a video of an execution carried out by ISIS in Syria. Ironically ISIS at 1:13 in the video forbids anyone except their own propagandists to take any pictures or videos so that ISIS, in a rather commie like manner, can control the images and perceptions around the execution or murder as they see fit.

Or Free speech for me, but not for thee.

Ironic no?

Jawa Report The Last Refuge of Buxom Wenches

An activist suggests we stop using the term Buxom Wench.

A term that fell out of favor over 100 years ago.

Fell out of favor 100 years ago, how on earth have we let this happen?

If there's one thing the world needs more of its Buxom Wenches!

Because Buxom Wenches always have been and always will be fun loving, independent, hetro women on the cutting edge of liberation! And always will be.

A world without Buxom Wenches would be a dull, colorless joyless place.

The Guardian Still Whining About America as ISIS Takes Iraq

The Guardian:

US forces fired depleted uranium (DU) weapons at civilian areas and troops in Iraq in breach of official advice meant to prevent unnecessary suffering in conflicts, a report has found.

Coordinates revealing where US jets and tanks fired nearly 10,000 DU rounds in Iraq during the war in 2003

Which upsets this boring little, you know.

American Flag a Threat to Muslims?

Keep your Flag Mr. Tran, its teh awesome!

KHOU: WEBSTER, Texas -- A Webster man says his apartment complex manager told him his American flag was a “threat to the Muslim community,” and that he has to take it down. But he’s not giving up without a fight.

Stepping onto Duy Tran's balcony in Webster, one thing is clear: "It means a lot to me," he said.

He's talking about his American flag that he proudly put up when he moved in just a few days ago. But then an apartment manager at the Lodge on El Dorado told him he had to take it down.

"What really stunned me is that she said it’s a threat towards the Muslim community,” said Tran. “I’m not a threat toward anybody."

Chessler on the 7th Day of Captivity For Three Israeli Teens

It bothers my that my friend Phyllis believes people in the US think, "From their point of view, Israel’s very existence is, allegedly, a colonialist crime..."

Because, "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

For this I am often cursed as a Zionist or a Jew by those online who hate the Jews and support their kidnapping and murder. As a not very good Baptist, its an honor to be cursed by such folks, its reassuring to know that Jewish scripture confirms I'll be on the right side of history.

I feel that all Christians are blessed through the Jews, its through them that we know the word of God and through them that Jesus came to this Earth, so that not only they but all of us could be saved, could come to know the Lord.

So today this blog belongs to Phyllis and Israel, we pray that the missing boys Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel are released safely and without condition.

Phyllis Chesler: This is the seventh day of captivity for the three kidnapped Israeli teenagers. Some well-meaning Jews have already compared them to the mainly Christian girls in Nigeria who were also captured by Islamist terrorists. The girls were taken on April 15th and have, so far, been in captivity for sixty-six days.

No one is condemning the smirking epidemic of three fingered salutes by Palestinian children. Each finger stands for one of the kidnapped boys and they are mocking the Jews and celebrating the kidnapping. An entire next generation of Palestinian children are being spoiled, destroyed, taught to glorify hate, cruelty, violence, and death.
As to the media: On June 18, 2014, the New York Times had the strangest, spookiest placement for their coverage of the Prayer Vigils held in New York City for Eyal, Gilad and Naftali. It appeared on page A24—opposite the Obituaries of a novelist, a children’s book editor, and a copy-writer. I was quite taken aback. This coverage might have appeared in the City section or perhaps as news, earlier on. It was a fairly sympathetic piece; is this the reason that editors placed it among the Obituaries? Is it entirely coincidental, accidental, or is someone assuming, even actually wishing that these boys are dead? What other rational explanation can there be for such a bizarre placement?

My apologies to our greatest ally in the Middle East for not giving this issue a top place on our blog earlier. And may God, "bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee". And may we never forgot that it is through Israel that we are all blessed.

Newport NC Store Clerk Loves ISIS

Smile! You're on candid camera!

Jihad Watch:

The video above is in support of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, with fans holding up messages of support from around the world — including, apparently, Newport, North Carolina. We are constantly told that all the Muslims in the U.S. are supporters of pluralism and democracy, and eschew violent jihad and Sharia — and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a greasy Islamophobe. So how did this Muslim in North Carolina come to misunderstand Islam so severely as to support the misunderstanders of Islam of ISIS? And is anyone looking into where he got this understanding of Islam? If not, why not?

I don’t think it says “Newport Bar Food.” That looks to me like a carton of Newport cigarettes cut open, with the message written on the back. I think it says “Newport Box 100s.” The sign the ISIS supporter is holding, however, does say “North Carolina USA” at the bottom. So is this man standing in a convenience store in North Carolina, if not in the town of Newport? There is no reason at this point to think otherwise.

So I guess Mr. Dreadlocks can be expecting company? I mean how many convenience stores can there be in Newport?

Muslim Cleric Offended by Commercialization of Ramadan

Muslims, they are a lot more like us than you think.

Daily Star:Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani condemned marketing propaganda for “creating deplorable links between Ramadan and recent entertainment programs,” in a statement Thursday.

“[The links] offended religious feeling and distorted the image of Ramadan, which occupies a high position of respect for Muslims,” said Qabbani, who opposed using religious occasions to promote media content.

According to the grand mufti, promotions across television and radio stations obliterate pure spirituality and transform Ramadan into a month of entertainment.

Central Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force Arrest Two For Allegedly Providing Material Support To Terrorists

Source US Dept of Justice.

Authorities with the Central Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested two Austin area residents for alleged offenses involving providing material support to terrorists announced Robert Pitman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Christopher Combs, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge of the San Antonio Division, and John Carlin, Assistant Attorney General for National Security.

Rahatul Ashikim Khan (a.k.a. “Rahat Khan,” “AuthenticTauheed19,” and “AT19”), age 23, was arrested yesterday afternoon at his home in Round Rock, TX. Khan is charged in a federal criminal complaint unsealed in Austin today with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists in violation of Title 18 USC Section 2339A. According to the complaint, from early 2011 to January 2012, he conspired with others to recruit persons to travel overseas to support terrorist activities including committing violent jihad.

Michael Todd Wolfe (a.k.a. “Faruq”), age 23, of Austin, was arrested yesterday at the George H.W. Bush Houston Intercontinental Airport, before boarding a flight to Europe. Wolfe is charged in a separate federal criminal complaint filed in Austin this morning with attempting to provide material support to terrorists in violation of Title 18 USC Section 2339A. According to the complaint, Wolfe planned to travel to the Middle East to provide his services to radical groups engaged in armed conflict in Syria.

“This case is the culmination of a long-term investigation by the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force made up of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in Central Texas. It’s a textbook example of how well law enforcement agencies in this area work together,” stated United States Attorney Robert Pitman. “Protecting the citizens of this community from the threat of harm both from within the United States and abroad is our highest priority, and we will continue to work with our partners to detect, investigate and prosecute those who seek to advance their ideology through acts of terrorism.”

Khan and Wolfe face up to 15 years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine upon conviction. Both remain in federal custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for Friday at 2:30pm before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Lane in Austin.

Both criminal complaints resulted from a Central Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation together with the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, United States Army Intelligence, Austin Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Killeen Police Department, University of Texas Police Department, Travis County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Office of the Texas Attorney General and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Assistant United States Attorneys Gregg N. Sofer and Michael Galdo, together with DOJ Counterterrorism section trial attorneys Josh Parecki and Michael Dittoe, are prosecuting this case on behalf of the Government.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendants are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

End DOJ presser.

The complaint against Rahatul Khan is here.

The complaint against Michael Todd Wolfe is here.

A quick google search for AuthenticTauheed19 and Authentic Tauheed 19 reveals that Khan was an active little cuss online and followed Abdullah el-Faisal of Jamaica, who was the ideological inspiration for the now defunct and imprisoned Revolution Muslim online group which included Yousef al-Khattab and Youness Abdullah Muhammad.

I'm Apparently Racist Against Nazism?

Just a few thoughts this morning on Political correctness.

Absolutely no one would accuse people of racism for opposing the Nazi ideology. If you oppose Nazism does that make you racist against Germans?.

No it doesn't and rightfully so, I don't think I need even explain why. But here.

But if you oppose the doctrine of radical Islam. The utter brutality, anti Semitism, and continuous war that plagues much of the Islamic World, they there will be all kinds of folks coming out of the woodwork.

How can opposing this make you racist against Muslims?

It would seem to me that its Muslims themselves doing mOst all the suffering and dying here?

I really hope that some day the Islamic world gets its belly full of blood and guts murder and finds peace. That it can find prosperity and safety for all its people.

That no Muslim will ever have his head sawed off by a masked butcher for being an example of the wrong kind of Muslim.

But unfortunately, given the amount of time I've spent studying this issue since we were attacked in 2001, I wouldn't advise anyone to hold their breath waiting for that day.

Breaking! Obama Sucks at Presidency

Even NBC is forced to admit that Obama is in way way over his head.

e percentage of Americans approving of President Barack Obama’s handling of foreign policy issues has dropped to the lowest level of his presidency as he faces multiple overseas challenges, including in Iraq, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

click for image credit

Additionally, the public is evenly split on whether Obama is a competent manager of the federal bureaucracy. And a majority of respondents – 54 percent – believe the term-limited president is no longer able to lead the country.

Well what did you expect, that an Illinois politician would run the country better than they ran their own FUBAR state?

Meanwhile Darth Cheney rips Obama a new one in the Wall Street Journal.

Say what you want about Cheney, he is at the very least super intelligent and very effective at his job.

Meanwhile Eric at Media Matters doubles down on his denail, snorts a big old line and continues to point his finger at Fox News. As if, "Look Squirrel!" will bring Ambassador Stevens back to life and save the Holy One's presidency.

Update: New Libyan Government that Obama helped install condemns US for capturing terrorist who murdered out Ambassador.

So hows that Gaddafi is dead thing working out for you Mr. President?

Twitter Spy Reveals Baathist Alliance With ISIS

I've heard rumors that ISIS raises funds by selling oil from areas it controls to the Syrian regime, who are Baathists.

As FSA and the Islamic front pushed ISIS out of some areas into Eastern Syria ISIS feinted and upped its campaign in Iraq. Quite a good strategy. But lately there has been a wrench thrown in ISIS's works.

Daily Beast: A mysterious Twitter account is trying to stop ISIS’s rise to power by spilling the terror group’s secrets online. For more than six months a series of tweets have detailed the alleged covert alliances and conspiratorial machinations behind the ascension of The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham, the Islamist group taking over large parts of Iraq. Taken together, the tweets form a slanted but valuable picture of ISIS and one of the only portraits of its leaders. Perhaps even more important, the account is still active, sending out tweets days ago about ISIS’s current strategy in Iraq and what it plans to do next.

...erhaps the most significant charge @wikibaghdady made—and the one that now seems most prophetic, after the group took control of Mosul, Iraq’s second-biggest city—is that ISIS’s inner chamber of power, hidden by Baghdadi’s public front, is led by a former Baathist and colonel in Saddam’s army called Haji Bakr. According to @wikibaghdady, it was Bakr who engineered Baghdadi’s rise to power after ISIS’s former leader, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, was killed in 2010 by a joint U.S.-Iraqi operation in Tikrit.

That Baathist connection resurfaced last week after ISIS’ Iraq offensive and has proven to be a critical aspect of the group’s strategy and a cornerstone of its current ability to take and hold ground.

Former Baathist groups in Iraq included he Naqshbandi Army mentioned in the article and the group Ansar al-Sunna later renamed Ansar al-Islam. The Sunni Baathists were second only to al-Qaeda in Iraq in their brutality during the US occupation.

Its appears that the Baathists believe they will be given the front seat of leadership in Sunni areas of Iraq after ISIS and various other Jihadi groups have secured their advance.

It remains to be seen if ISIS will allow the allied Sunni groups local control like the Kurds enjoy in the northeast or if ISIS will attempt to hold its leadership position and enforce its strict interpretation of Sharia, which differs substantially from most Iraqi Sunnis. Most Iraqi Sunnis of the Baathist persuasion tolerate minority Christians and Sufis, they also like to smoke cigarettes and have the occasional forbidden liquid called alcohol. While they are dedicated Muslims and resisted the occupation they are much more modern than the sixth century Taliban like rule that ISIS subscribes to.

Hat Tip: Noah.

Update: The Iraqi Sunni Clerics known as the Association of Muslim Scholars has also endorsed the ISIS advance calling it a "Popular revolution."

Cornhole Watch: Everyone Please Welcome Ahmed Abu Khattala To America

Khattala begins his tour with a nice long ocean cruise aboard a fine US vessel. We're sorry about the lack of a window in his cabin, but we were all booked up.

NY Times:

CAIRO — Ahmed Abu Khattala was always open about his animosity toward the United States, and even about his conviction that Muslims and Christians were locked in an intractable religious war. “There is always hostility between the religions,” he said in an interview. “That is the nature of religions.”

During the assault on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, Mr. Abu Khattala was a vivid presence. Witnesses saw him directing the swarming attackers who ultimately killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

aptured by military commandos and law enforcement agents early on Monday, Mr. Abu Khattala may now help address some of the persistent questions about the identity and motives of the attackers.

The motive of the attackers? Maybe Mr. Khattala's views on religion have something to do with it. I mean, "Always hostility between religions." He believes Islam is in an intractable never ending religious war with Christianity. Now where would he get a silly idea like that?

Anyway, upon disembarking from his cruise Mr. Khattala will be staying at the crossbar motel also window free. We've taken the liberty of reserving him a room for the next 20 to 30 years.

I''m sure we can make arrangements for him to stay further should he enjoy his visit as much as we all hope he does. Possibly some of his friends will also be joining him on the tour very soon. We don't want him to feel too lonely.

Its called American hospitality.

Oliver Willis Like Kryptonite to Donuts

Media Matters has its panties all in a wad about a Muslima asking a question at a Heritage Foundation panel.

Speakers at a Heritage Foundation panel mocked a Muslim student who pointed out that Muslim Americans were not represented at the forum and stated that conservative rhetoric on Islam is often starkly negative.

On June 17, Heritage held an event to discuss the September 2012 attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya. The event was led by Andrew McCarthy, a conservative commentator and former federal prosecutor who recently released a book claiming that President Obama's response to the Benghazi attacks constitutes an impeachable offense. Several panelists at the forum have long records of inflammatory rhetoric about Islam.

Dana Milbank detailed the event in his June 16 Washington Post column:

But then they went and posted the actual video of the panel.
That description of events generated a bit of controversy last night, as many conservatives doubted the overall accuracy of Milbank’s picture.

Well, Media Matters captured the video from Heritage’s livestream, and now it is available for all to view. Watch below and decide (the main exchange starts around 4:15):

Oliver The Donut Willis chimes in about so called Religious bigotry.

Oliver, I don't think that debating a Muslima on the finer points of Islamic Terrorism constitutes religious bigotry.

But I've an actual example of religious bigotry for you.

At 29:26 they change an anti-Christ(ian) slogan, "Break the Crosses and destroy the grandsons of Monkeys." Referring to Jesus' Jewishness and Christianity's heritage as religion having its roots in Jewish theology.

But I'm pretty sure they didn't mean it like it sounds because Islam is a Religion of Peace and they respect People of the Book.

I've got a few more here. And here too.

Note that every person murdered in the above examples are Muslim. Some are Shia Muslims murdered by ISIS for being Shia, Others are Sunnis murdered for fighting against the harsh ultra brutal version of Islam that ISIS practices. Others may be Sufis or Christians whom ISIS murders on sight.

Some Sunnis in some of the videos are gathered together and given a choice to repent and join ISIS or die.

But Media Matters is too busy pointing their partisan fingers at conservatives to actually fight real religious bigotry.

Idiots Question Authenticity if ISIS Atrocity Photos

Because either they are engaged in disinformation to confuse the west into further paralysis. Or they are just plain stupid.

One of the photo captions claims to show the "purification of hundreds of members of the Safavid army as they flee fighting in civilian clothing" by militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), an al-Qaeda breakaway. Safavid is a derogatory term used by Sunni extremists to describe Iraq's Shia majority, linking it to the former Persian empire.

Some of the photos show dozens of unarmed men, perhaps as many as 100, being transported on pick-up trucks by masked gunmen.

The captives are also seen lying down in trenches, surrounded by gunmen holding the black flags used by jihadist groups, including ISIS.

Some images show small clouds of dust kick up as a row of gunmen seemingly open fire on the men.

Some of those pictures the press won't show you below the fold. And yes they are graphic, ISIS is nothing if not authentic butchers.

Because Islamic Terrorists Are All About 'Diversity Of Thought' And 'Dialogue'...

Pope Francis declares war a product of greed, not terrorism or tyranny:

"Since we cannot wage the Third World War, we make regional wars. And what does that mean? That we make and sell arms. And with that the balance sheets of the idolatrous economies -- the big world economies that sacrifice man at the feet of the idol of money -- are obviously sorted. This unique thought takes away the wealth of diversity of thought and therefore the wealth of a dialogue between peoples."

IRS: Computer Crash Deleted Lois Lerner's Emails

ISIS Militants Firing At Random Vehicles (Updated: Full Video With Translation

They are also beheading captives and executing civilians in the street. The story is HERE.

UPDATE: The leader of the ISIS currently wreaking havoc in Iraq was released by Obama in 2009.

UPDATE II: I've been informed in comments and by email that this video was released several weeks ago. The victims may be military or Iraqi police. It may be a clip from a much longer video found HERE. (Thanks, Birbal & ShortTimer!)

Update III by Howie: The full video release is here at Jihadology, with English subtitles. Note they aren't just shooting cars but at random pedestrians as well. Later in the video they make Sunni members of the Awakening Councils dig their own graves.

At 29:26 they change an anti-Christ(ian) slogan, "Break the Crosses and destroy the grandsons of Monkeys." Referring to Jesus Jewishness and Christianity's heritage as religion having its roots in Jewish theology.

But I'm pretty sure they didn't mean it like it sounds because Islam is a Religion of Peace and they respect People of the Book.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Later they go beating on doors searching Muslim's houses in the dark of night. Taking more murder victims, they wear uniforms so that the victims cannot be sure who is taking them. Didn't Muslims get outraged when the US searched for insurgents? And we were not shooting them in the head in their own front yard, so do you see Muslim outrage at the same behaviour by ISIS? Not quite.

At 52:55 a member of Iraq's counter terror unit resists the terrorist. The tape then cuts to after the struggle showing the man has been beheaded in his own bedroom.

Iraq: 800 Militants Defeat 30,000 U.S. Trained Iraqi Soldiers

This isn't that shocking if you understand that we are not fighting a conventional enemy. We are fighting a radical ideology that permeates every part of the Middle East. It knows no boundaries. Its sole goal is to conquer all.

From Military Times:

The extremist group seizing vast swaths of Iraq this week is most likely fielding a small force of less than 1,000 fighters equipped with little more than small-arms weaponry and soft-shelled pickup trucks.

But the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, apparently has routed an estimated 30,000 Iraqi Army soldiers who were trained by the U.S. military and given billions in sophisticated American military equipment.

The stunning outcome reflects widespread desertions among the Iraqi units in the north as well as the Sunni-Shiite sectarian tensions that underlie the military battles, experts say.

"It's a relativity small force that managed to take the city [of Mosul], and it’s shocking that they were able to do that," said Charlie Cooper, who studies Islamic extremism for the Quilliam Foundation in London.

"To me, that suggests there is collusion or at least deliberate capitulation on the part of Sunni tribes in western and northern Iraq," Cooper said. "It's likely that this happened because Sunni tribes in the area let it happen."

No amount of training or equipment will change a belief system. We cannot fight an ideology with weapons. Until we understand that, we will never defeat Islamic terrorists.

All this mess reminds me of a story I posted a while back. Here's an excerpt, but it's worth a full read.

"You were a philosophy major or minor at that podunk little college you went to long ago," said the Time Traveler. "Do you remember what Category Error is?"

It rang a bell. But I was too irritated at hearing my alma mater being called a "podunk little college" to be able to concentrate fully.

"I'll tell you what it is," said the Time Traveler. "In philosophy and formal logic, and it has its equivalents in science and business management, Category Error is the term for having stated or defined a problem so poorly that it becomes impossible to solve that problem, through dialectic or any other means."

I waited. Finally I said firmly, "You can't go to war with a religion. Or, I mean... sure, you could... the Crusades and all that... but it would be wrong."

The Time Traveler sipped his Scotch and looked at me. He said, "Let me give you an analogy..."

God, I hated and distrusted analogies. I said nothing.

"Let's imagine," said the Time Traveler, "that on December eighth, Nineteen forty-one, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke before a joint session of Congress and asked them to declare war on aviation."

"That's absurd," I said.

"Is it?" asked the Time Traveler. "The American battleships, cruisers, harbor installations, Army barracks, and airfields at Pearl Harbor and elsewhere in Hawaii were all struck by Japanese aircraft. Imagine if the next day Roosevelt had declared war on aviation... threatening to wipe it out wherever we found it. Committing all the resources of the United States of America to defeating aviation, so help us God."

While Honorable Veterans Wait For Care, Deserter Assigned Own Personal Psychiatric Team

(Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit)

While retired and honorably discharged veterans wait months for psychiatric care that too often never comes, deserter PVT Bergdahl has his own psychiatric team:

A flight carrying Bergdahl from a military medical facility in Germany will land at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland prior to his arrival at BAMC.

Onboard the flight with Bergdahl is the officer in charge, a physician's assistant, psychiatrist, and a personal recovery specialist.

Even the pilots have been involved in the training for Bergdahl's reintegration.

I'm not suggesting Bergdahl should be denied necessry treatment. I'm suggesting our veterans deserve, at least, the same.

Obama Sends Message To Iraq: 'Come Together'

This administration just doesn't get it. These terrorists believe it is their religious and moral duty to conquer for Allah. They don't want a part in government, they want to control everything. They don't care about money, land, country, family, or peace. All they want is a world-wide caliphate.

The only choice they will give us is to convert, submit or die.

The Obama administration delivered a message Friday to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, as Al Qaeda-inspired militants took control of more cities on their march toward Baghdad, reportedly leaving a trail of decapitated government forces in their wake:

"Come together."

Secretary of State John Kerry delivered the message, putting the onus on the Maliki government to "put sectarian differences aside and to come together in unity to begin to be more representative and inclusive."

Yeah, that will work. /s

If that doesn't, Obama threatened to gather his administration together to sing "Give Peace A Chance" until the terrorists relent.

Hope! Change! Mosul Now Christian Free For First Time in Thousands of Years

President Obama sure is doing a heckova job ridding the Middle East of those pesky Cross Worshippers.

The Vatican: For many Christians in the Mosul area now, the autonomous Kurdish region to the north-east may offer the best short-term hope – if they are able to cross over. Chaldean archbishop Amel Nona told the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) he believed all Mosul’s Christians had left the city, and spoke of efforts to find emergency accommodation in ancient Christian villages in the Nineveh Plain.

As the jihadists swept into Mosul this week, they reportedly looted and torched churches, raised their black “there is no god but Allah” flags and started demanding that women wear the Islamic veil.

The Assyrian International News Agency identified two of the targeted churches as the Chaldean Church of the Holy Spirit, and an Armenian church under construction, which it said was bombed.

Barnabas Fund, an aid agency that supports minority Christians in Islamic countries, said the attacks on churches were “a clear statement from ISIS that they are no longer welcome in Mosul.”

“It is feared that this latest exodus could be the final death knell for the Christians of Iraq,” said Barnabas international director Patrick Sookdheo.

“Having previously sought refuge in Syria, this is no longer an option, and as ISIS violence threatens the stability of the wider region, Christians have very few places of safety to which to run.”

An Iraq-based representative of the religious freedom advocacy group Open Doors sounded a similar warning.

“This could be the last migration of Christians from Mosul,” the organization quoted the representative as saying. Open Doors says an estimated 1,000 Christian families were living in the city as of Monday this week.

Jesus wept.

Iran Deploys Forces to Fight al Qaeda-Inspired Militants in Iraq

Yes that Quds force...

Iran has deployed Revolutionary Guard forces to fight al Qaeda-inspired militants that have overrun a string of Iraqi cities, and it has helped Iraqi troops win back control of most of Tikrit, Iranian security sources said.

Two battalions of the Quds Forces, the elite overseas branch of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps that have long operated in Iraq, have come to the aid of the besieged, Shiite-dominated government...

Will this open the door for other parties to enter the fray?

Good News! ISIS Captures Blackhawk Helicopter

ISIS Imposes New Rules in Iraq

* All Muslims in the city have bee instructed to attend mosque for the five daily prayers.

* It confirms that it seized up to half a billion dollars from the Mosul branch of the Bank of Iraq but states it can be trusted with the funds. Any one of its members who breach this promise will have their hands cut off.

* No drugs, no alcohol and no cigarettes allowed

* No public gathering other than those organised by ISIS will be allowed

* No guns will be allowed

* All tribal leaders and sheikhs in the area have been warned not to co-operate with the state.

* Finally all women must dress in concealing clothing that preserve decency. Females should only go outside "if necessary".

Well it looks like they picked some of the finer points of their policy from the Democrat party?

I'm sure its only to protect the Iraqi people from themselves.

Report: Turkey Shelling ISIS Positions Near Mosul

This is starting to get some buzz on Twitter, but as of now no actual confirmation that the Turkish air force is bombing ISIS positions around Mosul. The only news I can find is an Iraqi/Arabic news site and they don't cite a source. The story's focus is actually on reports that Kurdish fighters have begun engaging ISIS terrorists, with a report of the Turkish offensive kind of thrown in there. That is, if the Google translation is working.

It seems almost inconceivable to me that Turkey would insert itself here, despite my earlier speculation (wishful thinking?) that ISIS's capture of dozens of Turks including a senior diplomat might push them into the conflict. So, I can't help but wonder if the reports of airplanes bombing ISIS positions aren't coming from people on the ground, near/in Mosul? And if that's the case, how do they know it's the Turks?

News reports on Iraqi TV earlier today claimed Iraqi troops, bolstered by 'militia' (read, Iranian proxies) were beginning a major counter offensive. So, maybe what the locals are seeing are Iraqi planes beginning to bomb ISIS positions? I just don't see people on the ground being able to distinguish who's air force is engaging giving the distances we are probably talking about here and the speeds involved.

But the fact that the Kurds are taking some initiative and some air force is finally responding is good news. The question remains, though, why hadn't the Iraqi air force responded prior to this? The deserts of Western Iraq are the perfect place for a turkey shoot (no pun intended), and since ISIS vehicles tend to move in convoys it's a head scratcher as to why the big guns haven't been brought in until now (if, in fact, the reports are true).

And if this does turn out to be Turkey involved, then I have to wonder whether this is an ultra-limited engagement meant to bolster their bargaining position to get back the Turkish hostages, or whether this signals the end of the facade of civil war in Syria and Iraq and the overt recognition that this thing has become a regional, international conflict.

Good News: Terror Group Considered too Extreme for al Qaeda Now Has More Money than al Qaeda Ever Did!

You've heard about the military hardware that the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) captured in the past few days, but what about all the cash they've taken? Yes, they're are banks in towns like Mosul and Tikrit and ISIS now has all that cash. How much? I've been seeing claims on Twitter from ISIS sources claiming as much as ... wait for it .... $500 million dollars:

Nevertheless, this is very significant, and analysis of the fall of Mosul so far has given it short shrift. If the number is accurate, ISIS now has more money than Osama bin Laden ever did -- not accounting for inflation, but also not counting ISIS's previous bankroll and the fundraising bonanza that its conquest of Mosul is likely to produce.

Media coverage has thus far focused on pictures circulated by ISIS of its jihadists driving around in American Humvees captured from the Iraqi army. But you can't fly a Humvee into a skyscraper in Manhattan. Armor travels regionally, money travels globally. ISIS is now arguably in a better position to bankroll global terrorism than al Qaeda ever was.

Butt Ugly Would-be Florida Jihadist Found Guilty

Sami Osmakac, convicted Florida jihadist

The cornhole? Yeah, say goodbye to it:

Sami Osmakac, the Kosovo-born man who threatened to stage a "second 9/11" attack here, was convicted Tuesday of both terrorism-related charges brought against him....

After six hours of deliberation, the jury convicted him of possessing an unregistered AK-47 and attempting to use weapons of mass destruction, a reference to the car bomb, six grenades and suicide vest he planned to use. Judge Mary S. Scriven scheduled his sentencing hearing for Oct. 7.

I have a few of his videos posted here, including one in which he assaults some Christians assembled to protest some kind of porn convention and another one which calls us infidels "animals".

This is What Liberal Fascism Looks Like

This is what happens when the church is subordinate to the state:

The country's parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages.

Denmark's church minister, Manu Sareen, called the vote "historic".

"I think it's very important to give all members of the church the possibility to get married. Today, it's only heterosexual couples."

Under the law, individual priests can refuse to carry out the ceremony, but the local bishop must arrange a replacement for their church.

The far-Right Danish People's Party mounted a strong campaign against the new law, which nonetheless passed with the support of 85 of the country's 111 MPs.

A warning to liberals who support such things: a government powerful enough to force churches to do their bidding is a government powerful enough to force you to do their bidding.

Dog Bites Man: ISIS Takes Over Turkish Consulate in Mosul

But don't worry, ISIS claims that the consul general and the 45+ other Turks being held against their will aren't "hostages" ... they're holding them pending an "investigation". If they're being "investigated" for "crimes" them I'm pretty sure we know what the outcome will be.

Why is this a dog bites man story? Because the vast majority of foreign jihadists in ISIS's ranks came through Turkey, which today mostly ignores the problem and up until last year was actively encouraging them to do so and helping them on their way.

The silver lining here is that maybe this will push Turkey into taking more action in securing it's borders. And maybe, if we're lucky, they'll take some military action against ISIS strongholds in Syria.

Update by Howie: Rusty says above, I'm pretty sure we know what the outcome will be...

Right on time:

Police officials also told the British Telegraph that the group had freed some 300 inmates in a city prison there and made advances in parts of Kirkuk; local authorities have reported mass beheadings throughout the city.
Mass beheadings? The cell phone networks there must be simply overloaded with bloodcurdling snuff porn downloading, but mostly peaceful, followers of the Religion of Peas.

The above victims appear to be shot.

ISIS Moves on to Tikrit And Samarra

Officials say militants are now in control of some parts of Tikrit - Saddam Hussein's hometown which lies just 150km (95 miles) north of Baghdad.

Iraqi PM Nouri Maliki has vowed to fight back against the jihadists and punish those in the security forces who have deserted.

The insurgents who attacked Mosul are from the ISIS group.

It is not confirmed who is attacking Tikrit but one report said there was also fighting further south in Samarra.

ISIS - the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which is also known as ISIL - is an offshoot of al-Qaeda.

It controls considerable territory in eastern Syria and western and central Iraq, in a campaign to set up a militant enclave straddling the border.

Yesterday it was reported that the ISIS offensive has created between 150 and 500 thousand refugees fleeing ISIS strict Islamist rule, that even bans cigarettes.

Point of Order To ABC on The Fall of Mosul

Um, I have a bone to pick with ABC on this report about the fall of Mosul to ISIS.

In the report ABC claims that the forces who fled in the face of ISIS are the same troops that the US trained. The Sunni Awakening Councils that expelled al-Qaeda in Iraq from Mosul Diyala and Fallujah back in 2008 and 2009

In Mosul, many troops in the Iraqi army and police forces — which the U.S. spent billions to train and equip — simply dropped their weapons, stripped off their uniforms and fled, according to numerous reports. And they left behind many of their heavy weapons, which have now fallen into the hands of the rebels.
They even include a video clip of General Petraeus (1:24) saying, "I don't think you'll have that problem here." when asked if al-Qaeda would intimidate the new Iraqi troops once the US left.

But the plan was, and the Shia led Iraqi government agreed, to integrate these local Sunni militias into the regular Iraqi security forces. Up till that point the US had armed trained and funded those militias.

ABC could not resist taking a swipe at Petraeus to to protect President Obama.

Its a low blow, because after Obama failed to secure a status of forces agreement and withdrew our forces from Iraq, we could no longer put pressure on the Shia led Iraqi government to keep its promise to fold these local militias into the security forces.

New York Times, March 23 2009.

The same day, one group of the fighters north of Baghdad announced they were resigning from their Awakening Council, the Iraqi name for what the Americans call the Sons of Iraq. And in the town of Salman Pak, councils in southern Baghdad and its suburbs, an area once called “the ring of death,” met to denounce Iraqi efforts to integrate them.

These are among the signs that the fighters’ patience is fraying badly at a difficult moment. After months of promises, only 5,000 Awakening members — just over 5 percent — have been given permanent jobs in the Iraqi security forces. Those promises were made last year when Iraq was flush with oil money.

Now with Iraq’s budget battered by falling oil prices, the government is having trouble paying existing employees, much less bringing in Sunni gunmen already regarded with suspicion by the Shiite-led government.

In interviews with leaders from a dozen local Awakening Councils, nearly all complained that full-time jobs were lacking, that pay was in arrears and that members were being arrested despite promises of amnesty.

Perhaps most ominously, many expressed concern this might drive some followers back to Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, a largely Iraqi group with some foreign leadership, at a time when both Iraqi and American military commanders say that the group seems to be making gains, small but worrisome, around Baghdad.

The complaints are not completely new, as Awakening members bargained for power and cash, but the threat to rejoin the insurgency has grown more fervent as more time has passed without government jobs.

“Until now, promises are all we’ve gotten,” said Adil al-Mashhadani, a leader of the Awakening Council in the Fadhil neighborhood in Baghdad, where 12 of the 180 members have been able to join the police. “When the government does not even pay them enough to stay alive, Qaeda and armed groups are ready to pay them generously.”

So even as the writing was on the wall that the US was leaving, the Iraqi government began going back on its promise to integrate the fighters we had worked so hard to split from al-Qaeda. After we left the problem only worsened, with Shia forces from the south moved to Sunni areas to keep a lid on Sunni Baathists like Ansar al-Sunnah, al-Qaeda allied groups and Sunnis in general.

The forces that fled Mosul, ditching their equipment and uniforms were most likely NOT the same local forces that General Petraeus trained to keep al-Qaeda from retaking northwest Iraq.

Then Obama's policy debacle in Syria only worsened the problem. But when you think about it that was Bushes policy too, the domino effect, where if Saddam fell then there would be an Arab Spring and many Muslim Nations in the middle east would witness a big giant democracy cakewalk. And it would all be hunky dory.

As we find out on the train, destabilizing the despots in the Middle East is a bad idea. They are there for a reason.

Map Definitively Shows al Qaeda Not On the Run

Okay, technically they're no longer part of al Qaeda. In fact what we have here is a group so bloodthirsty that even al Qaeda disavowed them. Controlling large swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria. So, this isn't exactly proof that Obama lied when he told the American people that "al Qaeda is on the run" because this isn't al Qaeda. It's worse. Much much worse.

But, hey, Obama killed Osama bin Laden. So I guess it's all good.

Sweet: 4/5 Taliban Expected to Return to Field of Battle

Granted, none of these guys are really "soldiers" in the sense that they're going to pick up a gun and kill people personally. These guys are more like generals, who will order other people to pick up guns and kill people. So take some comfort in that:

A top intelligence official told lawmakers in a classified Senate briefing last week that he expected four out of the five Taliban leaders released by the Obama administration to eventually return to the battlefield…
When these guys start showing up in Taliban propaganda films urging others to kill infidels, prepare to hear the argument that these four aren't actually killing any one themselves. It's just propaganda.

Of course, Hitler never killed any one himself either. Or Goebbels.

Also, the story claims that what motivated the prisoner swap now wasn't Bergdahl's deteriorating health, which was the line last week, but worries that the Haqqani network were giving up hope on an exchange and were likely to just kill Bergdahl and be done with it.

And as long as we're on the subject of changing last week's story because no one in the MSM will remember what the White House said so long ago, why don't we make this a morning all-inclusive Bergdahl post? Apparently, Obama is now blaming Chuck Hagel for the decision to make the swap.

So, when he thinks 'Merica will love him for bringing back the last POW of the war it was his decision. Now that he realizes 'Merica isn't all that happy with it? Blame Chuck Hagel.

Islamophobe Tells Muslims if they don't like West, Go Home!

Mudahr Zahran has this to say about his fellow Muslim immigrants in the West:

As a practicing Muslim living in Europe, I could not help asking myself: Why do we Muslims -- or at least a good number of us -- choose to provoke the countries that open their doors to us?

How come we manage to intermediate Western societies we live in, whether Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the UK, France, Canada or the United States?

Those of us who do not wish to live in the secular West -- why did we go there in the first place?

If secular Western countries are evil and immoral in the view of some Muslims, why don't those who feel that way leave and relocate in Islamist states such Iran or Afghanistan?

Sun Rises in Pakistan, Taliban Attacks Karachi Airport Again

Karachi, Pakistan (CNN) -- For the second time in two days, Pakistan's largest and busiest airport was forced to shut down after militants launched a brazen attack on airport security forces.

Tuesday's assault targeted the Airport Security Forces academy near Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, the airport's manager told CNN's Saima Mohsin in Karachi.

Security forces told CNN that an unknown number of gunmen attacked the academy's entrance and were met with an armed response. The attackers fled, and no one was killed in the attack, officials said.

Once again, the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility...

...The militant group, also known as the TTP, had warned of more carnage starting Tuesday.

Shahid said earlier this week that the Pakistani Taliban would engage "in a full-out war with the Pakistani state, starting on June 10."

An all out war for the world's largest producer of unprocessed human excrement? This ought to be good.

Extra Super Good News : al-Qaeda in Iraq (ISIS) Takes Mosul From Iraqi Army

Obama like totally ended the war in Iraq you know.

BAGHDAD — Iraqi army soldiers abandoned their weapons and fled the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Tuesday, as Sunni militants seized military bases, police stations and the provincial governor’s headquarters. The rout in Mosul, the second largest Iraqi city after Baghdad and an important oil center, was a major defeat for the government’s forces.

By midday, militants believed to belong to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, an extremist group, were in control of much of central and southern Mosul, according to witnesses. Local officials claimed that many of the fighters were jihadists who had swept in from the porous border with neighboring Syria.

As hundreds of families fled Mosul, the bodies of slain soldiers, police officers and civilians were seen lying in streets. “They took control of everything, and they are everywhere,” said one soldier who fled the city, and gave only his first name, Haidar.

Lets see just what did we go through to take Mosul?

More here at The Beeb.

Update: An estimated 150 thousand people, mostly Muslims, have fled ISIS for Kurdish ruled areas.

British Taliban Taking Over Birmingham UK Schools

Muslims in the UK are sending their kids to public school. Because, you know, integration. But not the kind of integration you're thinking of:

A culture of fear and intimidation has taken grip" in Birmingham schools caught up in the Trojan Horse claims, says Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw.

Head teachers have been "marginalised or forced out of their jobs", said Sir Michael, as he delivered his findings on claims of hardline Muslim takeovers.

The Ofsted chief said there was evidence of an "organised campaign to target certain schools".

Leaders of one of the schools, Park View, firmly rejected the claims.

Ofsted has carried out inspections of 21 schools, following claims in an anonymous letter that hardline Muslims were trying to impose their view on a group of schools in Birmingham.

"Some of our findings are deeply worrying and, in some ways, quite shocking," says Sir Michael.

Muslim students are repeatedly harassing female teachers calling them "slags":
Organised campaign to alter "character and ethos" of schools

Breakdown of trust between governors and staff, with teachers "bullied" and "intimidated" and fearing loss of their jobs

Female staff complained of unfair treatment

Family members being appointed to unadvertised senior leadership posts

The phrase "white prostitute" used in class assemblies

Private investigators hired to check staff email

Teacher so afraid a meeting had to be arranged in supermarket car park

It seems the Muslim Council of Britain has a 72 page plan to take over all British public schools:
While British officials investigate an alleged “Trojan Horse” plot to replace state school leaders with people sympathetic to Islamist ideology, the Telegraph reports that a 2007 blueprint “closely resembles what appears to be happening in Birmingham.”

The 72-page document was published online by the Muslim Council of Britain, reports the Telegraph’sLondon Editor, Andrew Gilligan.

It was co-authored by Tahir Alam, chairman of governors at Birmingham’s Park View school. The document called for “girls [to] be covered except for their hands and faces.” Alam has also promoted gender segregation in some school activities and slammed a “multicultural approach” to collective

So what the Muslims in the public schools are demanding is an education that fits their Muslim sensitivities. Sensitivities like the ones that are taught at a certain Birmingham Mosque that cannot be mentioned for fear of upsetting sensitive Islamic values like..
women are no more worthy than a lollipop that has been dropped on the ground...
"So it was with the Republic at its height. Like the greatest of trees, able to withstand any external attack, the Republic rotted from within though the danger was not visible from outside."

Except, unlike the Old Republic, the rotting of the once great UK is quite visible.

Yes, just think what Britain will be like with an Islamic majority in Parliament (shudders to think)?

Awesome: Qatar Gave US Supplied Stinger Missiles to Taliban

If true, this is ... pretty damning:

My sources in the US Special Operations community believe the Stinger fired against the Chinook [in Afghanistan in 2012] was part of the same lot the CIA turned over to the Qataris in early 2011, weapons Hillary Rodham Clinton’s State Department intended for anti-Khadafy forces in Libya.

They believe the Qataris delivered between 50 and 60 of those same Stingers to the Taliban in early 2012, and an additional 200 SA-24 Igla-S surface-to-air missiles.

Qatar now is expected to hold five Taliban commanders released from Guantanamo for a year before allowing them to go to Afghanistan.

Sure, let's trust these people. Oh, and on a very related note:
The deepest concerns of critics of President Obama’s decision to release five Taliban commanders from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in exchange for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl may be coming to fruition.

One of the commanders, Noorullah Noori, has plans to return to Afghanistan to resume fighting against the U.S., according to NBC News which spoke to another Taliban commander.

“After arriving in Qatar, Noorullah Noori kept insisting he would go to Afghanistan and fight American forces there,” the commander told NBC News.

So, we have that to look forward to.

Of course this was terrorism, there's no doubt in my mind at this point. Drug addict/crazy/terrorist are not mutually exclusive categories. And when you yell revolutionary slogans as you kill police officers then clearly you are motivated, however irrationally, by a political agenda.

There's no real difference then between this couple and Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, who's Weather Underground organization held similarly irrational views that the coming revolution could be sparked by murdering cops. Terrorists, all.

On second thought I guess there are two major differences. First, that the Ayers were communists and this couple a pair of neo-Nazis. Second that no would-be Presidential candidate will ever hold political fundraisers in their home and hope to get a pass from the media. Las Vegas Sun:

Residents at an apartment complex where it appeared the two lived together said they had a reputation for spouting racist, anti-government views, bragging about their gun collection and boasting that they’d spent time at Cliven Bundy’s ranch during a recent standoff there between armed militia members and federal government agents.

According to one police official and a witness, one of the shooters shouted, “This is a revolution” and “We are freedom fighters.”

The duo also told people they planned to commit a mass shooting, said Brandon Moore, a resident of the complex.

"They were handing out white-power propaganda and were talking about doing the next Columbine," Moore said.

And here's a description of the crime. Notice how the MSM is already trying to pin this on the Tea Party:
Soldo was attacked first. The married father of a newborn was refilling a drink when the female shooter approached him from behind and fired a round into the back of his head, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

One of the two shooters shouted “This is the start of a revolution” before the woman turned and opened fire towards Beck, who was hit several times.

The wounded officer managed to return fire, but it wasn’t clear if he hit either suspect.

The shooters then stripped the officers of their weapons and badges before covering them with a yellow Gadsden flag, which features a coiled snake and the words, “Don’t Tread on Me” — a symbol most recently adopted by the Tea Party Movement in 2009.

Wow, prepare for an onslaught of in depth stories on how even though these two weren't technically Tea Party members, they will nonetheless be "linked" to the Tea Party and thus the whole movement will be indicted by the MSM.

Blasts, gunshots as armed militants storm Pakistan's largest airport

Heavy fighting ongoing

At least 5 people have reportedly been killed and an airport emergency declared after heavily armed militants stormed the airport in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city. Twelve militants are thought to be inside and fire is seen rising from the scene.

The militants launched grenades and opened fire as they entered the building. Two of the terrorists have reportedly been killed.

At least three blasts were heard, and an airport emergency has been declared, with flight operations suspended, reported the local Karachi Post.

The five people killed are Airport Security Force (ASF) staff, according to Pakistani news channel Geo.tv

Updates when we get them...

Update by Howie: Taliban get asses kicked then claim responsibility and huge victory, threaten to get themselves killed again.

Its why they call it terrorism, their goal is not to win, just to end up with a bunch of blood spilled. Because that's what butcherous savages do.

Raped & Brutalized By A Black Man, Liberal Activist Blames Whitey

Amanda Kijera wanted to debunk the myth that black men are "savages." So she traveled to Haiti on a humanitarian mission to prove just that. But while there, she was brutally raped by a black man.

Of course, being the progressive she is, she blamed whitey rather than her attacker.

From the US Patriot via Gateway Pundit:

The intention of Kijera's trip was to push back on the portrayal of black men as "savages" in the media. Her hope was that she would eliminate misconceptions and push back against common views imposed by "the man."

However, Kijera's trip took a turn for the worse when one of the men she had worked to protect cornered her on the rooftop, and raped her numerous times.

"The experience was almost more than I could bear," Kijera wrote about the incident, "I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didn't care." [...]

"Women are not the source of their oppression; oppressive policies and the as-yet unaddressed white patriarchy which still dominates the global stage are," she explained. She also went on to argue that it is up to the United Nations to support people who are forced to bear the brunt of black male aggression.

Kijera makes the outrageous claim that dependency on white people causes them to act out against them. She alludes that this was the reason for her attack.

France Commemorates D-Day With Slo-Motion Interpretive Dance

It was a truly WTF moment...

From Mediaite:

A month which debuted with the exposure of the system-wide effort to deny veterans medical care built to a climax with the White House erecting a conveniently epic fiction around an alleged deserter. When that soldier's platoon-mates objected to their commander-in-chief insisting this man who shirked his duty was a hero, they saw their characters maligned and integrity attacked. But the drama's denouement was reached on Friday when, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, we commemorated the sacrifice of tens of thousands with a belittling dance. [...]

[T]he final act in this disgraceful production commenced on Friday when a number of world leaders gathered on the beaches of France to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the end of World War II. There, the blood of tens of thousands of young Allied men was remembered in interpretive dance.

NYT: Bergdahl Just A "Free-Spirit;" Capture Was His Lying Platoon's Fault

The leftist media smear of Bergdahl's platoon is gaining momentum. Now the New York Times has jumped on the band wagon (emphasis mine):

This duck-and-cover response is the result of the outrageous demonization of Sergeant Bergdahl in the absence of actual facts. Republican operatives have arranged for soldiers in his unit to tell reporters that he was a deserter who cost the lives of several soldiers searching for him. In fact, a review of casualty reports by Charlie Savage and Andrew Lehren of The Times showed there is no clear link between any military deaths and the search.

And a classified military report shows that Sergeant Bergdahl had walked away from assigned areas at least twice before and had returned, according to a report in The Times on Thursday. It describes him as a free-spirited young man who asked many questions but gave no indication of being a deserter, let alone the turncoat that Mr. Obama’s opponents are now trying to create.

If anything, the report suggests that the army unit's lack of security and discipline was as much to blame for the disappearance, given the sergeant's history.

Taking their cue from President Obama, The New York Times is comparing soldiers to children who need constant guidance and supervision. At the same time, the NYT blames Bergdahl's actions on fellow soldiers, who apparently are responsible for controlling Bergdahl's "free-spirited" inquisitiveness.

But all of that is really irrelevant, according to the NYT, as the whole ugly incident is just a product of "Republican operatives" who managed to convince Bergdahl's platoon to lie to make "President Obama look weak."

It's all just a conspiracy.

UPDATE: Another jumps on board. Think Progress is blaming the Army.

Zoo Tranquilizes Man In Gorilla Suit

From The Telegraph:

Frantic zoo keepers in Tenerife rushed to call an ambulance after a vet shot a tranquilliser dart at a man dressed as a gorilla.

Police on the Spanish island received a call from a panicked member of the public, who said that a gorilla had escaped from its pen in Loro Park zoo, and was seen running around the theme park. [...]

But to his horror, the vet - who had only been in the job for two months - realised that the creature was in fact an employee of the zoo, dressed in a gorilla suit, who was staging a mock escape to practise their emergency routines.

This incident brings to mind another case of mistaken identity where officials in a Japanese Zoo trapped and tranquilized an escaped zebra. Turns out, the "zebra" was a man in costume. That scene was caught on video:

Spain to Deport Refugee for Blasphemy

The short of it: Guy leaves Islam, guy gets death threats from ROP, guy flees to Spain, guy makes video, Spain gets death threats, Spain deports guy.

Spain: where all those jokes about France are true:

The Spanish Supreme Court has ruled that a political refugee should be deported because his criticism of Islam poses "a danger to the security of Spain."

The May 30 ruling, which upholds an earlier decision by a lower court to revoke the refugee status of a Pakistani ex-Muslim named Imran Firasat, showcases how the fear of Muslim rage continues to threaten the exercise of free speech in Europe....

Fernández issued an order on December 21, 2012 to deport Firasat based on Article 44 of the Law on Asylum and Protection, which allows the state to revoke the refugee status of "persons who constitute a threat to Spanish security." The deportation order stated that Firasat constituted a "persistent source of problems due to his constant threats against the Koran and Islam in general."

When the victim is punished for the sins of his attackers, something is seriously wrong with your society.

NYT Reporter: Taliban Is Better Than Americans Because They Give Prisoners Spiffy New Clothes

Aryn Baker, a New York Times reporter, seems to think the Taliban are really a bunch of good guys because they gave custom clothing to Bergdahl while keeping him imprisoned (all emphasis mine):

Those selected to physically hand Bergdahl over to U.S. officials at a pre-arranged location on the other side of the border in Afghanistan rehearsed the messages they wanted to convey to the American people. A videographer was assigned to cover the event, for propaganda purposes. And those closest to Bergdahl commissioned a local tailor to make him a set of the local tunic and trousers in white, which, given as a gift, denotes a gesture of respect.

Clothing seems to be a major issue of character to Baker. Sure, the Taliban are notorious for hanging or beheading prisoners, but giving clothing is a sign of respect. That makes them good guys in the eyes of Baker.

Later, during an interview with Gretchen Carlson, Baker said:

What they are doing is trying to preserve their honor. In Afghan culture, in Pashtun culture, it is very important to treat all guests, whether they be there under their own volition or not, with honor. And, so by presenting him with tailor made clothes, with a turbin, and treating him well, getting him food. They're saying, 'Look we treat our detainees better than you did, you Americans with your orange jumpsuits.."

I wonder if they also offered Bergdahl the holy book of his choice, movie nights, access to a whole library, legal representation, American food, and better medical care than given to their veterans.

I think not.

Speculation: Bergdahl Thought He, Not Obama, Was Messiah Who Could Talk the Taliban Into Being Nice

So, does this mean that he was merely AWOL and not a deserter? The key difference being that someone who is AWOL plans to come back. AllahP has a pretty lengthy piece cobbling together a plausible counter narrative to the "Bergdahl was a traitor who joined the Taliban" and the "Bergdahl was a naive idiot trying to walk to India" narrative.

Unfortunately, this one doesn't paint Bergdahl in much better light. This one claims Bergdahl had a messiah complex and thought that his singular awesomeness would be enough to talk the Taliban into ... get this ... a negotiated truce.

Which makes him sound even more insane. Also, it makes him sound exactly like our Commander in Chief:

That’s the kook theory in a nutshell. Bergdahl may well have been disgusted with the U.S. and its mission and left to seek out the Taliban — not to “actively collaborate” with them, though, but to fulfill some odd fantasy that he was going to negotiate the end of the war. Remember, there are reports that he tried to escape from the Taliban at least twice. None of that would absolve him from the charge of desertion but it would challenge the suspicion, raised by former squad mates Evan Buetow and Justin Gerleve, that he was helping the Taliban improve the precision of their attacks on U.S. convoys.
Plausible? About as plausible as any of the other scenarios.

And yet, if true, the fact that we would call Bergdahl a kook for thinking in the precise manner as Barack Obama and the entire State Department says a lot about our current state of political affairs.

Let me just also note that I'm not particularly invested in this or any other theories as to why Bergdahl left his post. I'm just throwing it out there as one of a number of plausible theories. Take a look at AllahP's post, apparently a number of news agencies have tried to track down the letter Bergdahl has been alleged to have left behind when he deserted and can't find it.

Even more speculation by Howie: If wonder if there are boobies below the fold?

Boko Haram Burns Churches Kills Babies in the Name of Islam

Just another day at the office for Boko Haram. After all they have pledged to soak Nigeria with the blood of Christians:

Hundreds of people were killed in raids by Boko Haram Islamic militants in northeast Nigeria's Borno state, on the border with Cameroon, with some sources putting the death toll at 400 to 500.

..."The killings are massive. Nobody can say how many people were killed, but the figure runs into some hundreds," said Peter Biye, a lawmaker in Nigeria's lower parliament representing the Gwoza region.

The attackers, who posed as soldiers, told residents they had come to protect them from Boko Haram and asked them to assemble. They singled out men and boys and opened fire on them, Biye said.

A local leader in Attagara village, who fled to nearby Madagali town in neighboring Adamawa state, said the death toll was staggering.

"The death is unimaginable. We have lost between 400 and 500 people in the attacks in which men and male children were not spared," said the local leader, who asked not to be named for security reasons.

"The gunmen pursued on motorcycle people who fled into the bush in a bid to escape and shot them dead.

"Even nursing mothers had their male infants snatched from their backs and shot dead before their eyes," the local leader said.

This is Sharia! Brother of Sudanese Woman Facing Death For Apostasy Execute Her

He wants to see his own sister hanged for Allah. And he also claims that her husband converted her to Christianity with magic potions.

CNN interviewed the brother of the Sudanese Christian woman, Mariam Yahya Ibrahim, who was sentenced to death last month for apostasy and may still hang for her ‘crime’. And it wouldn’t surprise me if her brother is the one who turned her in.

Al Samani Al Hadi told CNN that his sister’s husband fed her ‘magic potions’ to convert her to Christianity. He said if she wanted to come back to Islam, her family would accept her and treat her like the apple of their eyes:

But if she refuses to come back to Islam, her brother says she should be executed:

By magic potions I think he means the sacrament known as communion, but probably witchcraft. Because, you know, Muslims are so um, so like advanced......

yeah I made a funny. Because Al Samani Al Hadi and his Sharia is such an effing joke.

Everyone knows that at the age of consent, anyone even a Muslim can choose their own deen (religion) and its not apostasy. He just wants to narc on and kill his sister because he didn't get any dowry.

Get a job loser!

Taliban Confirms it Will Seek to Kidnap More Soldiers

It's almost like rewarding people for bad behavior leads to more of that behavior, not less. Who could have predicted that?

A Taliban commander close to the negotiations over the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl told TIME by telephone Thursday that the deal made to secure Bergdahl’s release has made it more appealing for fighters to capture American soldiers and other high-value targets.

“It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people,” the commander said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media. “It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.”

The glass half full view of this? The Taliban really do suck at pretty much everything, especially taking POWs. Hell, they're bad at killing our guys. We've been in Afghanistan for 12+ years now and we've lost 2300 men. Which is tragic, yes, but put that into historical context and you realize that our enemies there just aren't that good. To put that into context, that's about as many men that were KIA at Pearl Harbor ... in a single day.

The problem with this isn't that they will succeed in kidnapping more of our military men and women, it's that they might try. Which means more attacks, and more dead soldiers. In a war we've already decided to quit fighting.

Now that's tragic.

Combat Outpost Zerok

A few days ago I mentioned two soldier who were killed indirectly because of Bowe Bergdahl's desertion. The soldiers were Private First Class Aaron Fairbairn and Private First Class Justin Casillas .

(PFCs Justin Casillas and Aaron Fairbairn)

The video below is the story about the attack on their unit.

A little background, from Michelle Malkin:

"Combat Outpost Zerok was almost overrun, multiple soldiers were wounded and PFCs Justin Casillas and Aaron Fairbairn lost their lives fighting that day," the soldier told me. (I wrote about their deaths in my July 8, 2009 column, not knowing they were related to the Bergdahl mess.) My source continued: "We learned later that our exfiltration aircraft were diverted to support COP Zerok, and that the situation there was so dire that at one point there were two Apache gunships on station that went winchester, meaning they expended all ordinance and ammunition, but they would not abandon the soldiers still fighting so they resorted to low level unarmed passes to distract the enemy. PFC Bergdahls actions undoubtedly caused these events. We spent the remainder of Independence Day walking in the desert…waiting for aircraft that did not come for many, many hours."

He added that PFCs Casillas and Fairbairn were part of his "sister battalion, 3rd Battalion 509th Infantry (Airborne). That is an Independence Day I will never forget for sure. It is certain that enemy forces took full advantage of our vulnerabilities caused by DUSTWUN recovery operations. Combat Outpost Zerok was just one of several small outposts attacked that day while 4-25(A) was spread very thin searching for PFC Bergdahl. There is no doubt his actions led to these coordinated attacks, and without his desertion PFCs Casillas and Fairbairn would not have given their lives that day."

Malkin relates stories from several other soldiers affected by Bergdahl's desertion. Read it all.

Stop Picking on Bowe Bergdahl Who, Best Case Scenario, is a Deserter

I've been trying to think of some way of giving Bowe Bergdahl some benefit of the doubt. The dude has been in Taliban captivity for years, so maybe we should cut him some slack?

But in my mind the best I can come up with, based on media reports, is that he was an idealistic moron who thought that he could abandon his post and maybe walk to India. That the local Afghans might give him refuge until he got there. That either the Taliban weren't all that bad, in which case they'd be stoked to hear that he had gone AWOL and help him on his way, or that there really weren't that many Taliban types around and the locals all seem so friendly and what not that it would be no problem to keep walking his way out of the war zone.

Remember, this is best case scenario. The scenario where we give the guy the greatest latitude and benefit of the doubt.

Am I missing some other scenario here?

But if it played out along any of those lines above, then best case scenario is that he was a naive deserter and not a malicious traitor. But a naive deserter is still a deserter.

And he deserted his comrades in the middle of a war zone.

I actually know a guy who deserted the Army. In his case he had joined up, got to basic training, realized it was a huge mistake, and then just hitched a ride home. A couple of weeks later he was arrested. Although the charges were dropped, they still gave him a dishonorable discharge (if I'm remembering the story right). But this guy never even made it through basic training. No one called him a hero for abandoning his post.

So I want to think of some way to cut Bergdahl some slack, but I can't come up with anything. I'd like to believe that the mission to find him and bring him home was worth the cost. I'd like to believe that trading high ranking Taliban officials for a POW was the right thing to do. I'm just having a really hard time believing any of that. It stretches credulity.

Right now it seems like the best I can hope is that when Bergdahl speaks he'll tell us what a colossal idiot he was thinking that the Taliban weren't going to be all that bad. That he's really sorry that he could ever be so stupid to equivocate between the minor ills of American society and the depravity of Afghans. That after spending so much time with the enemy that he now realizes that America really is much better than any other place on the planet. That he's grateful to be home. And that he's sincerely sorry for all the harm that was done by his naivete and reckless actions to the comrades that he abandoned.

Best case scenario: Bowe Bergdahl owes a lot of people an apology.

Couple Taken Captive in Afghanistan Appear in Video

Relatives describe the couple, who wed in 2011 after meeting online, as well-intentioned but naive adventure seekers.

They once spent months traveling through Latin America, where they lived among indigenous Guatemalans and where Boyle grew a long beard that led some children to call him "Santa Claus." The couple set off again in the summer of 2012 for a journey that took them to Russia, the central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and then finally to Afghanistan. With plans to return home in December ahead of Coleman's due date, they checked in regularly via email during their travels — expressing in their writings an awareness of the perils they faced — and toured the region, staying in hostels and their tent.

The communication abruptly ended on Oct. 8, 2012, after Boyle emailed from an Internet cafe in what he called an "unsafe" part of Afghanistan. The last withdrawals from the couple's bank account were made Oct. 8 and 9 in Kabul. Two months later, an Afghan official told the AP that the two had been abducted in Wardak Providence, a rugged, mountainous Taliban haven.

Well they have certainly lost weight. As well as the contents of their bank account. I wonder if they still believe...
They really and truly believed that if people were loved and treated with respect that that would be given back to them in kind," said Linda Boyle, Boyle's mother. "So as odd it as it may seem to us that they were there, they truly believed with all their heart that if they treated people properly, they would be treated properly."
Obviously they are being held for the money. Kidnapping is al-Qaeda's #1 way to raise funds. These foolish folks have handed themselves to the Taliban, for whom kidnapping and ransoming Kuffar is as right as rain.

We pray for their immediate and unconditional release, I mean since they have no money left. What's the point? Can't get blood from a turnip.

Should the US pay and encourage the kidnapping of other fools? No probably not. Unfortunately they are dependent on the mercy of the Taliban, which is in short support despite all that bismillah al raham al rahim bullshit.

Report: al Qaeda Totally on the Run, 50% More Jihadis This Year than 3 Years Ago

So, if Obama's policies to defeat al Qaeda are working so much better than George W. Bush's, then why are there way more al Qaeda today then when George W. Bush was in office?

This isn't rocket science. When you have a mixture of policies meant to decrease something, and instead it radically increases ... then you know you're doing something wrong. Something very, very wrong:

The threat to the U.S. from global jihadist groups has escalated in the past three years, with the number of groups increasing by more than 50% and the estimated number of militants doubling, according to a report to be released on Thursday.

The report by the Rand Corp. think tank, which used public data to take a kind of global census of al Qaeda and related groups, will say the civil war in Syria has been the largest driver of the growth of jihadist activity. Syria is the location that has seen the greatest growth in number of groups and numbers of militants, which now make up more than half of the number of al Qaeda-sympathizing jihadists world-wide.

Palis Propose Fooling Western Donors w/ Accounting Scheme

Right now the US and European governments are giving money to the Palestinian Authority, which then pays convicted terrorists "salaries". With pressure in the West mounting to stop these payments, the Palis have come up with a solution whereby the PA will simply pass the money to the PLO which will then give the money to convicted terrorists.

More here.

Given that Hamas is now part of the PA unity government, it seems like the issue would be moot? Or not, since the official position of the US government has suddenly gone from "no negotiating with terrorists" to "hell yes, we negotiate with terrorists .... and if you criticize us for it you are unpatriotic, hate soldiers, and want to leave all our POWs behind."

U.S. To Support Terrorist Palestinian Government

Sneaky bastard. While we were all distracted by the insane negotiation with terrorists and the lopsided prisoner swap, Obama quietly made a deal to support and fund HAMAS.

From Reuters via Legal Insurrection:

The United States said on Monday it plans to work with and fund the new Palestinian unity government formed after an agreement by the Fatah and Hamas factions, and Israel immediately voiced its disappointment with the U.S. decision.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas swore in a unity government on Monday in a reconciliation deal with Hamas Islamists, who advocate Israel's destruction.

The United States views Hamas as a "terrorist" organization and the U.S. Congress has imposed restrictions on U.S. funding for the Palestinian Authority, which typically runs at $500 million a year, in the event of a unity government.

Baker Sentenced To Re-Education For Refusing Gay Couple

The video showed Serge Lazarevic, who was abducted in 2011, appealing to French President Francois Hollande to secure his release.

In the video, Mr Lazarevic said he was speaking on 13 May. French officials say they are studying the footage.

The 50-year-old was abducted with another Frenchman, Philippe Verdon, who was killed in Mali last year.

"I take this opportunity today May 13, 2014, to call on Francois Hollande, the president of France, to do everything to negotiate my release," Mr Lazarevic said in the video, speaking in French.

Mr Lazarevic, a dual French and Serbian national, wore a black turban and was accompanied by two gunmen.

We pray for his unconditional and immediate release.

Elephant Takes A Selfie

From The Daily Mail:

Park visitor Scott Brierley, 23, was taking 'selfies', in the drive through elephant enclosure, when he dropped his phone and the keepers ordered him to stay in his car and keep moving.

Staff later retrieved the device and Scott, an events manager from Birmingham, was stunned to see 22-year-old African elephant Latabe had touched the screen with her trunk - and taken a picture of herself.

Arab Spring! New Egyptian Government Blames Who For Morsi's MB Rule? ..... Oh Come On Just Guess

Wait for it. You know its coming.

An Egyptian court that sentenced to death 37 Islamists and handed life terms to 492 others has defended its verdict, saying the men were “demons” who followed Jewish scripture.

The court in the central city of Minya had triggered international outrage earlier this year for sentencing to death hundreds of alleged supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Mursi in two separate mass trials which only lasted minutes.

So who did the brotherhood blame for their fall from power? I'll give you one guess.
By supporting the coup in Egypt, he proves to be concerned about interests rather than moral obligation, and subject to pressure by the Zionist lobby, which believes this coup serves the security of Israel."

He also accuses Israel of accelerating the end of Morsi’s rule by playing a major role in planning the coup...

Shocking! Da Jooooos! Is there anything they are not behind?

Don't answer that ;-)

Bergdahl Trade Results in New Afghan "Thanksgiving"

Except they ain't having smoked turkey and cranberries.

Goats have been slaughtered and served up across Afghanistan as the Taliban celebrates the release of five Guantanamo Bay detainees as part of a prisoner exchange.

A senior member of the Afghan Taliban has described the exchange of the five detainees for U.S. Army Sgt Bowe Bergdahl as a 'historic moment for us'.

...The Taliban commander told NBC News the exchange was the first time its 'enemy' had 'officially recognized our status.'

He said: 'Once we confirmed the arrival of our five heroes back in Qatar, celebrations started everywhere in Afghanistan and the neighboring Pakistan.'
He went on to say: 'Goats are being slaughtered and served with guests and in some places goats are being cooked in rice.'

Sweet Jesus!?!?

Bob Bergdahl Just Hanging With Specially Designated Terrorists on Youtube

Hey there's Bob hanging out with Anwar. Crispy crispy Anwar.

But that's not the only terrorist Bob follows on Youtube.

Here he is hanging out just watching pro Taliban propaganda, including one user suspended for repeated violations of Youtube's policy on violence.

* I don't know why you people can't follow the rules!

Here he is commenting on Anham Jabril's official Youtube channel. Ahmad is the founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine General Command.

Ahmad's organization is recognized as a specially designated terrorist entity by the United States.

Now I'm not really sure about Bob, I mean he wouldn't be the first false flag troll blowing smoke up the Taliban's ass over the internet now would he?

But if that's so once Bowe was "safe" why not drop the act? At least to some extent. Is he trying to protect others? I dunno. But....

* And one more thing, The Rule is not that Jawas can't blog about the Bergdahl. Its just that if you do, you must post bewbs.

Bergdahl what? Who?

** Another rule....

** Huh? What'd you want?

Signs, Signs, Everywhere The Signs

That Bowe Berghdal was a deserting traitor. James Rosen at Fox News:

A senior official confirms to Fox News that the conduct of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl -- both in his final stretch of active duty in Afghanistan and then, too, during his time when he lived among the Taliban -- has been thoroughly investigated by the U.S. intelligence community and is the subject of "a major classified file."

In conveying as much, the Defense Department source confirmed to Fox News that many within the intelligence community harbor serious outstanding concerns not only that Bergdahl may have been a deserter but that he may have been an active collaborator with the enemy.

The Pentagon official added pointedly that no relevant congressional committee has sought access to the classified file, but that if such a request were made, key committee chairs would, under previous precedent, likely be granted access to it. Separately, the Pentagon confirmed Monday that it is looking into claims Americans died during the search for Bergdahl.

The administration announced over the weekend that Bergdahl's release had been secured, in exchange for five Taliban prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. President Obama was joined by the soldier's parents in making a public statement on the release Saturday evening from the Rose Garden.

Sources told Fox News that many officials in the Executive Branch are "quite baffled" by the White House's decision to allow the president to stand alongside Bergdahl's father this past weekend, given the father's history of controversial statements, emails and online posts.

Asked Monday about reports that Bergdahl's father was communicating on Twitter with a man described as a Taliban spokesman, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney declined to comment on those reports but defended the administration's handling of the release.

This whole affair, and the rest of this regime's policies have become, to quote Game of Thrones, "a mummer's farce."

I should add that a friend of that intelligence community who recently left it has been sending me links to "Bowe Berghdal Is A Traitor" t-shirts for sale.

Oh, and bewbs.

Sudan Backtracks, Won't Free Woman Sentenced To Death

An update to this story.

A Sudanese woman sentence to death for apostasy will still face an appeals court which will decide whether or not to carry out the sentence.

Over the weekend, hopes Meriam Ibrahim, who recently gave birth while in a Sudanese prison with her 20-month-old son, would be released were buoyed when Abdullahi al-Azreg, an undersecretary at the foreign ministry, said the nation believes in religious freedom and was committed to her protection.

But another foreign ministry official walked back that statement on Sunday, according to BBC, issuing a statement saying that the Sudanese judicial system is the only authority that can rule on the case.

"The defense team of the concerned citizen has appealed the verdict... and if the appeals court rules in her favor, she will be released," the ministry said in the statement.

Ibrahim's husband, Daniel Wani, who has dual Sudanese and American citizenship, told the BBC he had been skeptical from the beginning, after reports surfaced saying his wife would be freed.

When I posted the story of her release, I had my doubts. But like so many others, I really wanted it to be so.

We will just have to wait and find out her fate. If only the Obama Administration put as much effort into saving her as they put into bringing home one deserter and freeing five Taliban commanders.

French Arrest Four Right-Wing Extremists for Jewish Museum Shootings

"Jihadists", they're neo-nazis .... right?

French police on Monday arrested four jihadists suspected of recruiting French nationals, following the capture of the alleged killer of three people at the Jewish museum in Brussels....

The suspect, 29-year-old Frenchman Mehdi Nemmouche, who spent a year in Syria with jihadist fighters, was picked up on Friday by customs officials during a search for illicit drugs as he arrived in Marseille on a coach from Amsterdam. On Sunday, the Paris state prosecutor said that weapons and clothing in his possession matched those of the Brussels gunman. Nemmouche's bag contained a camera with a 40-second video which claimed responsibility for the attack, according to officials.

Ban yourselves, 'phobes. Ban yourselves.

Traitor in Rochester, NY, Wanted to Kill Returning US Soldiers

Mufid Elfgeeh

His name is Mufid Elfgeeh, and although he's originally from Yemen he's a naturalized US citizen. That makes him a traitor:

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force on Saturday arrested Mufid A. Elfgeeh, 30, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Yemen, on charges of receiving and possessing an unregistered silencer, a criminal complaint shows....

A swarm of law enforcement officials arrested Elfgeeh Saturday in the parking lot at the Walmart at 1490 Hudson Ave....

He was shocked to find that the guy who was going to sell him the gun and silencer in the parking lot was an FBI informant.

Terrorists: we're lucky most of them are so dumb.

Apparently the guy owned "Mojoe's Foodmart" on Clinton Ave, in Rochester. According to the FBI affidavit, that's also where he lived. Which is kinda odd, I guess. Here's a pic I snapped from Google street view. Suddenly, I'm kinda hungry.

The affidavit also notes that the place serves .... surprise ... halal food. And there's more:

Beginning in early 2013, and continuing to the presend day, ELFGEEH has express his support of various terrorist groups (including al-Qa'ida, al-Nusrah Front, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levand0 and violent jihad...

ELFGEEH has plotted to shoot and kill both members of the United States armed forces returning from Iraq and Shi'a Muslims in the Western District of New York.

You can read the complaint here.

And honestly, what I really want to know right now is ... what are they going to do with all that food?

But maybe Obama will trade this guy with the Taliban for a couple of cheeseburgers and a doner kebab (extra garlic sauce)? Seems reasonable.

Note to self: never blog hungry

Thanks to Charles

Sandcrawler PSA: Forecast Bowe Bergdahl Sh*itstorm Will... Oh Look! Boobies!

Forecast is for every single pundit to endlessly repeat a story that no matter how you slice it is a win win for the Taliban and a lose lose for US.

Although on the bright side it did result in this post.

But seriously there was no way to resolve this in a manner where we saved any face.

Saving that we had executed the five high value prisoners in a timely fashion, they were war criminals and committed crimes against humanity but for some reason our army doesn't shoot people much anymore. Especially ones as deserving as the freed Talibs. Then we could have at least exchanged a low value idiot for some other low value idiots.

If we left him behind, we look bad. We recover him in a trade, we look bad. Save a rescue with a big pile of dead Taliban there was no win win for the US

So I get the criticism, but to me to there is no way to salvage the story other than to let it die. We're just talking up a loss, serving the Taliban's propaganda machine.

So my suggestion, whenever you get the urge to write about Bowe Bergdahl just think of these and repeat "Cool blue ocean. Cool blue ocean."

Because this is the only propaganda victory we're going to get out of this one.

I don't know about you but at least I feel better now. Bowe who?

Update: Girl loses 100 lbs, still has great tits. Unpossible!

Obama Lies And Coverups

One family of a fallen soldier is outraged after they are just discovering the truth about the way their son died in Afghanistan:

The furious parents of an officer who they claim was killed while searching for freed Taliban prisoner Bowe Bergdahl today said that they have been lied to as part of a 'cover up just like Benghazi'.

The mother and father of Second Lieutenant Darryn Andrews are angry that they have been told different stories about how their son died.

First his commanders said that their son was blown up while hunting a Taliban commander - but only now that Bergdahl has been freed after five years in captivity are they learning the truth.

Lt Andrews' parents told MailOnline that their own son branded Bergdahl a 'deserter' before he was killed.

In an exclusive interview his father Andy Andrews told MailOnline: 'For his family it's good to get him back but we will never be able to get our son back because of the actions of this guy (Bergdahl).

'I think people need to be aware that the guy was not a hero and American lives have been lost trying to save this deserter'.

Lt Andrews was one of six men who died while apparently searching for Bergdahl, who is said to have voluntarily left his post in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009.

Out: No Negotiating With Terrorists, In: We Can Make Deals w/ Terrorists

The real scandal in the Bowe Bergdahl exchange? The Obama administration has just overturned decades of US policy which said that we will not negotiate with terrorists. And any one that thinks there is a lick of difference between al Qaeda and the Taliban is either a) stupid; b) an academic organizational theorist; c) State Department employee.

Also, a - c aren't mutually exclusive categories.

The Pakistanis have been "negotiating" with their version of the Taliban for over a decade now. Yes, there are on again off again truces, but how's that working out for Pakistan? The best they can hope for is getting their Taliban to attack in Afghanistan, and not on their own soil.

So, let's assume that the Bergdahl release was part of a "faithbuilding" exercise on the part of the State Department, as they claim. Are these people nucking futs? Do they understand anything about the ideology behind the Taliban? An ideology that thinks democracy itself is sinful behavior? How do you "build faith" with an ideology which is simply incompatible with modern secular values?

Answer: You can't.

Because, duh!

What's the point of negotiating with the Taliban? None. Most of our troops are out the door at the end of the year, the rest of them at the end of next year.

What could the Taliban possible give us in exchange for us doing exactly what they've wanted all along? A promise that they will behave themselves after we leave, super serial pinky promise swear on that?

If John Kerry is after a Nobel Prize -- which may be at the heart of these negotiations -- let us remember another Nobel Peace Prize winner who also ended a war when the enemy also super serial pinky promised that they wouldn't fight any more: Henry Kissinger for negotiating a settlement with the North Vietnamese.

How'd that work out for us?

If we've already given up in Afghanistan, then let's get those troops the hell out of Dodge. There's no reason to negotiate. There's no particular reason to hang around.

If the Afghans want freedom, democracy, and human rights, let them fight for it.

And when the Taliban comes back to power or the country descends into chaos -- then we bomb the hell out of them again.

It turns out that invading a country over and over again might actually be cheaper and cost less lives then occupying it and trying to modernize it.

Eventually they'll learn the lesson not to allow people who want to f*ck with us to set up shop. Or they won't and it won't matter any longer because they're all dead.

Many Died Searching For A Deserter

(top row, left to right) Private First Class Matthew Michael Martinek, 20; Second Lieutenant Darryn Andrews, 34; Staff Sergeant Clayton Bowen, 29; (bottom row, left to right) Staff Sergeant Michael Murphrey, 25; Staff Sergeant Kurt Curtiss, 27; and Private First Class Morris Walker, 23.

When Bergdahl walked away from his post in 2009, his actions set off a chain of events that resulted in the deaths of at least seven eight soldiers. There is no telling how many were wounded.

Though the 2009 Afghan presidential election slowed the search for Bergdahl, it did not stop it. Our battalion suffered six fatalities in a three-week period. On August 18, an IED killed Private First Class Morris Walker and Staff Sergeant Clayton Bowen during a reconnaissance mission. On August 26, while conducting a search for a Taliban shadow sub-governor supposedly affiliated with Bergdahl's captors, Staff Sergeant Kurt Curtiss was shot in the face and killed. On September 4, during a patrol to a village near the area in which Bergdahl vanished, an insurgent ambush killed Second Lieutenant Darryn Andrews and gravely wounded Private First Class Matthew Martinek, who died of his wounds a week later. On September 5, while conducting a foot movement toward a village also thought affiliated with Bergdahl’s captors, Staff Sergeant Michael Murphrey stepped on an improvised land mine. He died the next day.

It is important to name all these names. For the veterans of the units that lost these men, Bergdahl's capture and the subsequent hunt for him will forever tie to their memories, and to a time in their lives that will define them as people. He has finally returned. Those men will never have the opportunity.

Those who lost their lives during search operations for Bergdahl (thanks to Gateway Pundit for list):

  • PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Died September 11, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 20, of DeKalb, Ill.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Sept. 11 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of wounds sustained in Paktika province, Afghanistan, Sept. 4 when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised-explosive device followed by a rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire.
  • Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, Died August 26, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 27, of Murray, Utah; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Aug. 26 in Sar Howzeh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he was shot while his unit was supporting Afghan security forces during an enemy attack.
  • SSG Clayton Bowen, Died August 18, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 29, of San Antonio; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Aug. 18 in Dila, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Pfc. Morris L. Walker.
  • PFC Morris Walker, Died August 18, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 23, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Aug. 18 in Dila, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Staff Sgt. Clayton P. Bowen.
  • SSG Michael Murphrey, Died September 6, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 25, of Snyder, Texas; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; died Sept. 6 in FOB Sharana, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
  • 2nd Lt. Darryn D. Andrews, Died September 4, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom, 34, of Dallas; was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; was killed Sept. 4 in Yahya Khail District, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device and a rocket-propelled grenade.
  • Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl.

Others died indirectly from Bergdahl's desertion. Private First Class Aaron Fairbairn and Private First Class Justin Casillas were just two of them. Their unit lacked much needed air support that had been redirected to search for Bergdahl.

Had Obama made this swap last week, we would have been reminded of these deaths on Memorial Day. But this Administration shrewdly delayed the exchange.

U.S. Soldier Who Claims To Have Served With Bergdahl Casts Doubts On Official Version

I'm not sure what to think of this. If @CodyFNfootball is for real, his story is quite damning.

So far, we have a deserter who sought out the Taliban, a father who appears sympathetic to the Taliban, negotiations with terrorists, and a deal that benefits the enemy more than the US.

And, isn't it strange that Bergdahl's father, instead of tweeting joy for his son's imminent return, tweets a vow to get more Guantanamo prisoners released?

From SooperMexican via IJReview:

More below the fold. It is a long, but interesting read. Many thanks to SooperMexican for saving the tweets and putting them in chronological order.

@CodyFNfootball is still tweeting about Bergdahl.
