Kennedy Cleared Of Drugged Driving

I accidentally drank a bottle of vodka, occifer. I thought it was my usual water...

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Kerry Kennedy has been acquitted of drugged driving after she accidentally took a sleeping pill and then took a wild spin down a New York highway. [...]

Her car hit a tractor-trailer in 2012. She was found slumped at the steering wheel.

Kennedy said she took the sleeping pill by mistake instead of her thyroid medication. She testified that the drug overpowered her and she doesn't remember the crash. (Source)

Sandcrawler PSA: Muslims Not Responsible For All Evil in The World

There's this meme going around about a crucified dog.

BhOw0IRCcAEyO_F.jpg

The problem is this is not a Muslim nor is it a result of Islamic ideology as claimed in the meme. Its from Mexico. Apparently posted to Facebook some time ago then used in this Meme in a libelous fashion against Islam.

There are plenty of authentic things in Islamic Ideology that are valid targets for criticism by western standards. For instance maybe these Sunni al-Qaeda extremists chopping off this person's hand for alleged theft.

BhkF9bcCcAMEOdc.jpg

Maybe even say Shia Iran executing people for being gay or apostasy.

gay_hanging_iran.jpg

Or maybe Sunnis blowing up Shiite Muslims for being the wrong kind of Muslims.

I don't really feel too bad about questioning this recent image from Syria, its been described as incredible and on PBS last night "unbelievable". I could not quite swallow the scale of it either, so I kept going till I could settle the issue of the image's authenticity for myself.

I'd rather find out I was wrong than be ignorant. Just my own personal preference.

Its a shame that its come to this. My hope for blogs was that it would allow us to cut through the fog of the mainstream chatter and create a new more accurate sense of reality. A place where we can find the accurate unfiltered information the MSM won't tell or show us. Free from the spin and political correctness that pervades our media.

Misleading memes like the one above is not what I had in mind.

Armed men take airport in Ukraine's Crimea, report says

Putin doesn't need to invade.... he uses the forces he has in place on the naval base.

Airport taken

SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine – Dozens of armed men in military uniforms seized an airport in the capital of Ukraine's strategic Crimea region early Friday, a report said.

Witnesses told the Interfax news agency that the 50 or so men were wearing the same gear as the ones who seized government buildings in the city, Simferopol, on Thursday and raised the Russian flag.

The report said the men with "Russian Navy ensigns" first surrounded the Simferopol Airport's domestic flights terminal.

The report could not be immediately confirmed

Another challenge for Obama....and he will fail at it.

Shocking News! Arabs Hate Americans

One would think that the vast majority of Arabs are also Muslims. But I don't want to hurt their sensitive feelings by mentioning that. After all Islam is a Religion of Peas, no?

A new Pew Research Center survey showed that people living under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas dislike the U.S. more than any other group, with 76% of respondents, the most on the list, qualifying America as an “enemy.”

Alternatively, In Israel, 90% of respondents qualified the U.S. as a “partner,” putting the Jewish state at the top spot on the pro-America list. Just 1% of Israelis view the U.S. as an “enemy.”

Following the “Palestinian Territories” on the “enemy” list are Pakistan, Turkey, Lebanon and Venezuela; following Israel on the “partner” list are El Salvador, Senegal, the Philippines and Kenya.

Arabs hating Americans? Duh!

Ahh, but the survey that would be really interesting is what other Arabs think of Palestinians?

I noticed neither Assad's regime nor the Muj seem too excited about feeding the Palestinians in Yarmouk? What's up with that?

Convicted Terrorist & Marxist Worked As Obamacare Navigator

National Review Online:

A terrorist from Jordan briefly worked as an Obamacare navigator in Illinois while authorities remained unaware of her conviction for involvement in a deadly grocery store bombing and two other attacks.

Rasmieh Yousef Odeh was convicted in Israel for her role in several bombings, including the 1969 attack on an upscale Shufersol grocery store, which killed two Hebrew University students who had stopped in to buy groceries for a hiking trip in the Jerusalem hills. Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe were killed by a bomb hidden in a candy box tucked on a shelf, which also injured nine or 10 others, according to a website maintained by the Israeli government to commemorate terror victims.

The Illinois Department of Insurance quietly revoked Odeh’s certification as a Navigator In-Person Counselor on November 24, explaining in a disciplinary report that the decision was "based on an investigation which revealed that she had been convicted in Israel for her role in the bombings of a supermarket and the British Consulate in Jerusalem and failed to reveal the conviction on her application."

So, the FBI and Eric Holder's Department of Justice had no clue about this woman's background. Of course not. Holder himself was a terrorist.

It took a state agency to uncover her past.

Cop Shoots Attacker

A man begins pounding a cop's head into the pavement. The officer, fearing for his safety, fires two shots. This attack is eerily similar to the George Zimmerman case, with the exception that Zimmerman did not attempt to detain Martin; Martin initiated the first physical contact.

Legal Insurrection has more:

For a dramatic example of how quickly a fight can go bad even for a trained, experienced, and armed police officer against an unarmed aggressor -- an example with eerie parallels to George Zimmerman’s defensive shooting of Trayvon Martin -- see this bit of cellphone video.

It captures a Kansas City Police Officer having to go for his gun after an unarmed suspect he was attempting to arrest got the upper hand and started beating the police officer's head into the sidewalk. The officer fired twice, with one of those rounds tearing through the attacker's diaphragm, liver, and heart, and killing him.

Although these events took place last December 1, the video was only just released when the grand jury empaneled to review the shooting returned a "no bill" against Police Officer Donald Hubbard, meaning no criminal action will be taken against him for the shooting death of the attacker, 26-year-old Anthony Bruno. Bruno was himself an off-duty firefighter.

I don't know which is more amusing to me - this asshole getting his due or the idiotic bystanders, who were initially demanding the officer explain himself, screaming in shock.

It is very fortunate for this police officer that the suspect was not black. Otherwise, he would be, no doubt, facing charges of racism, hate crimes, and the wrath of leftists everywhere.

UPDATE: More about this case can be found HERE.

1K Words on the Syrian Civil War (Bumped for Pallywood Shenanigans?)

We're actually not too bad at picking these, well some are obvious.

BhZSVIHCEAEd761a.jpg
Syrians waiting for aid at
UNRWA humanitarian distribution, Yarmouk Camp, Damascus. 2014

Here's the original via Nic at CNN.

The tweet is of an incredible image, it is incredible. But so far it appears legit.

Update: We're calling shenanigans on this, you know Hezbollah Green Helmet Guy type of shenanigans.

shenanniganssyria.jpg
It's a faked/composite picture. If you look at the edge of the jacket of the guy centre frame (go to the larger tweeted file) wearing the white baseball cap back to front, you will see the poor cutout work. Also note that people that visually appear to be the same distance from the camera are at different scale.

Thanks to The Realist of Qld

I'm sure there are more, knock yourselves out kids.

syriashenanigans2.jpg

Update: Here is a Yahoo Video on the same story.

Here is a screen grab from that video.

syriashenanigans5.png

Note the upper left of the shot, here is an enlarged version.

syriashenanigansflaghook.png

Now here is the same area in the crowd image. Note the matching area. The artifacts in this section are numerous, the flags are removed, there are outlines around the vertical pole with a dark area underneath. The missing Palestinian flags.

Damascus-v2.flaghook1.jpg
click for larger

You can also see the layering of the crowd in the original image. So why question the image ? One commenter suggests that questioning this image means I must believe there is no crisis among Palestinians in Syria?

Now, by calling this photo "shenanigans" without further commentary, are you saying there's no humanitarian crisis in the Yarmouk camp? Or are you just trying to get your readers to dismiss the problem in the camp?
That's a nice straw man you built there. If I say the pic is "enhanced" then the conclusion is there is no crisis? That's silly, Syria is one big crisis.

We'll spend countless words, posts and news stories on "Were the asses on the SI Swimsuit cover photoshopped?" because it fits the feminist narrative that it damages girls who try to achieve an unachievable false image.

But when it comes to a really serious issue like this, when the image has been presented by the media as authentic, questioning the accuracy of a photo the press describes as "incredible" is wrong?

Incredible indeed. Incredible in the sense that its not very credible.

As for the makers, well its from the Syrian regime so probably Hezbollah. Iran's standard operation. Iran's propaganda wing is in full swing lately, publishing outright lies and half truths.

If we are to make judgments about what to do with Syria then we need accurate information, this is not an accurate representation of reality, its tragedy marketing just the same as marketing the asses of those girls on the SI cover to sell swimsuits.

Its OK to do that, but people need to be skeptical and aware that they are being marketed to. This is presented as "real". If it were it would be pulitzer prize material, but its only semi-real. Truthy if you will.

I for one would prefer a more accurate representation UNRWA aid distribution in Yarmouk. I would also like to question why these Palestinians, after 40 years of being in Syria, are not by now Syrians? Is it because they are mostly Sunni and Assad's regime refused to give them a permanent home and dignity? But I digress.

I'm not going to take an incredible Pallywood doctored image at face value just because the news media presents it as reality. It is a collage, a work of art, a commercial for Palestinian suffering, but not an accurate representation of the crowd at Yarmouk that day.

There was a significant crowd, there is suffering, a crisis. But I guess the real images just weren't quite good enough, they had to come up with something groundbreaking. Something to really catch the eye. So that's what they did.

The shame is that if you read the comments on the Yahoo story, the number of people who just look at it, then go off on an emotional tangent discussing the tragedy, blissfully unaware of the Pallywood nature of the image.

The image is indeed, incredible. It seems beyond reality because it is.

Update: Large high resolution source image here.

Update: Here is some video from the scene from AFP. At 11 seconds you can see the people in the background from the image above. It seems to confirm the presence of the very large crowd in the image. Maybe not to the extent to explain some of the strange artifacts in the pic, especially the tiny woman next to fire jacket guy, But indeed the crowd is pretty surreal.

AFP copy here

Thanks to B'emet Or.

If anyone has more evidence supporting or detracting from the image, I'll run it. Because that's the purpose of this post is to determine for ourselves what this image means.

And also this plate full of crow is delicious.

Updated again: This report says that these people claim that the reason they are in such dire straits is because the Assad regime will not left them leave Yarmouk. The roads are blocked. So they are trapped. Since they are mainly Sunnis the regime may fear that those allowed to leave will join FSA or another rebel group.

There are two videos mentioned in the report appear to be genuine. Other vids with interviews all seem to be tainted with regime views of the rebels, accusing them of being well fed but not helping the Palis. An Iranian slant.

Here is the first.

The article mentions a woman saying, "Open the road and we will leave and find food and water." Its probably this older video although its translated it seems less slanted than other PressTV reports.

More.

Egyptian Military General Invents Device That Turns AIDS Virus Into Nutritious Kebabs

HIV_detector.png

From Times of Israel:

More than 36 million people worldwide have died from the AIDS virus across the globe, and another 35.3 million are currently living with the disease.

But they no longer have any reason to worry. The Egyptian Army has defeated the disease.

And Hepatitis-C.

Or so claimed Egyptian Gen. Dr. Ibrahim Abdel-Atti, chief of the medical branch. "We defeated AIDS, and rest assured, we defeated AIDS," Abdel-Atti said Sunday at a press conference. [...]

Abdel-Atti said he had pioneered a method by which he could extract the disease and break it into amino acids, "so that the virus becomes nutrition for the body instead of disease. This is a miracle in scientific research."

"I take AIDS from the patient, and feed the patient on AIDS, I give it to him as a kebab skewer to feed on," he said

There is clear evidence the device works. CCTV Africa was able to produce footage of General Abdel-Atti telling a patient he no longer had AIDS.

That's evidence enough to convince me! Everyone will be cured, inshallah. Anyone who isn't cured, well obviously Allah wasn't willing.

Everyone Wave Buh Bye to Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale

May they rot in prison and get three squares of ham and beans for the rest of their pathetic miserable lives.

Two men convicted of murdering British soldier Lee Rigby in broad daylight in London last year are due to be sentenced Wednesday.

The prosecution has asked for the maximum possible sentence: life imprisonment without parole.

But defense lawyers argued Wednesday for leniency. Barrister David Gottlieb told the court that the victim was chosen because he was a member of the armed forces and that no one else was hurt in the attack.

F*ck those defense lawyers.

Update: Adebolajo will spend life in prison. Adebowale received a sentence of at least 45 years.

The US Justice Department removed Abu Mohammad al-Julani, head of the al-Nusra Front, the branch of Al-Qaeda fighting against President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, from its most wanted terrorist list, the report said, press tv reported.

Venezuelan Economy is Doing Very Well

If you don't count the empty shelves, capital flight, and runaway inflation.

A writer at Al Jazeera, Belen Fernandez, denounced the recent appearance of the “elite right-wing Caracas blogger Emiliana Duarte” on the Qatari network, blasting her for “launch[ing] into a sob story about having to visit 10 different supermarkets the previous year during a quest to bake a cake.” Duarte was merely cataloging the massive shortages of basic goods (rice, milk, toilet paper) that have crippled Venezuela in recent years, not engaging in a bourgeois, fascist bakeoff.
Its pretty funny to see American neo-commies stutter all over themselves to hide the shortages and political oppression of their star western communist regime where there is a shortage of everything but bullets.

I guess they thought that this time communism really would work.

Yet Another Totally Innocent Misunderstood Frmer Gitmo Prisoner Arrested For Facilitating Terrorism in Syria

I've run into this guys supporters on twitter a few times, he's always innocent.

Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg is among four people who have been arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences, police have said.

Mr Begg, 45, who was held by the US authorities for almost three years, was arrested earlier with two other men and a woman in the West Midlands.

mozamnotgay.jpg

He was detained on suspicion of attending a terrorist training camp and facilitating terrorism overseas.

The natives sure are restless about this.

Especially @UK_CAGE

But then again Mozzam has been screaming injustice since he was caught in Pakistan years ago. Its just a coincidence that wherever there is a terrorist hotspot there is Mozzam. Coincidence I say!

Update: A more serious take and documentation of Mozzam Beggs jihadism here at Weekly Standard.

After Begg’s release from Guantanamo, he penned a book in which he freely admitted that he was a jihadist. He admitted connections to all sort of al Qaeda characters in the book. Begg also helped spread jihadist propaganda, including that of Anwar al Awlaki, who was eventually killed in a U.S. drone stroke. Begg even became the poster boy for a short-lived first-person shooter game in which players would be able to blast their way out Guantanamo, killing virtual American soldiers in the process. (Public outrage in the U.S. led the company behind the video game to halt production.)

None of this stopped Begg from becoming a rock star among anti-Gitmo activists and lawyers. A few activists here and there, such as Amnesty International’s Gita Saghal and Salman Rushdie, objected to the alliance with Begg. But their calls were by and large ignored.

When the ACLU wanted to produce a video showing the supposed horrors of Guantanamo, it made Begg its star witness.

When Osama bin Laden was killed, the Washington Post solicited an op-ed from Begg, who taunted the U.S. by arguing that the al Qaeda master made America “tremble.”

Awarding Program Actaulluy Allows Students To Learn At They're Own Paste

letters.jpg

And you thought The Derek Zoolander School for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too was fictional.

Earlier this month, The Post exposed a scheme at Manhattan's Murry Bergtraum HS for Business Careers in which failing students could get full credit without attending class, but instead watch video lessons and take tests online. One social-studies teacher had a roster of 475 students in all grades and subjects.

Red-faced administrators encouraged a student letter-writing campaign to attack The Post and defend its "blended learning" program. Eighteen kids e-mailed to argue that their alma mater got a bad rap.

Almost every letter was filled with spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. (Source)

Where's Rusty? Top Homosexual Edition

He's in Uganda because a tabloid there published the names of 200 potential new lovers.

A Ugandan newspaper published a list Tuesday of what it called the country's "200 top" homosexuals, outing some Ugandans who previously had not identified themselves as gay one day after the president enacted a harsh anti-gay law.

Homosexuality has long been criminalized in Uganda under a colonial-era law that outlawed sex acts "against the order of nature."

Some Ugandan lawyers and activists have said they will challenge the law in court as unconstitutional and impossible to implement.

Oh I see the problem is Christian Colonial hegemony!

Radical hard line group of al-Qaeda linked terrorists threaten war with other group hard line group of al-Qaeda linked terrorists.

The leader of the al-Qaeda-affiliated rebel group in Syria has given rival jihadists an ultimatum to accept arbitration by clerics or be expelled.

Abu Mohammed al-Julani of the al-Nusra Front warned the Islamic State of Iraq in the Levant (ISIS) that it would be driven from Syria and "even from Iraq" if it did not comply within five days.

The threat came after the killing of an al-Qaeda emissary, Abu Khaled al-Suri.

He had reportedly been sent to end the clashes between ISIS and other rebels.

...Abu Khaled al-Suri died along with several members of the hardline Islamist rebel group, Ahrar al-Sham, in a suicide attack on its headquarters in the northern city of Aleppo on Sunday.

There was no claim of responsibility, but the Islamic Front, an alliance to which Ahrar al-Sham belongs, said the "fingers of blame" pointed to ISIS.

Meanwhile in Grotha Libya

Seven Coptic Christians are found murdered.

Libyan police have found seven Egyptian Christians shot dead on a beach in eastern Libya, security officials and local residents said on Monday, in the second such execution-style killing since the start of the year.

A police officer told Reuters the bodies were found with gunshots to the head outside Benghazi in the east, where assassinations, kidnappings and car bombs are common and Islamist militants are active.

"They were killed by headshots in execution style," a police officer said. "We don't know who killed them."

A local resident and an Egyptian worker, who asked not to be identified because of fears for their security, said unknown gunmen had arrived at the Egyptians' Benghazi home and dragged them away the night before.

Security sources confirmed the Egyptians were Christians. No further details were immediately available about how they were killed or whether they were shot on the beach.

Drug from their home in Benghazi?

Let me take a wild guess? Was it because of a Youtube video? Or maybe a it was the Copts fault for not being in touch with their individual accountability in a cycle of violence?

I mean anything but what it is. (ansarcoughchokeal-shariadammit)

Under Gaddafi, one never heard of Libya’s immensely small Christian minority suffering. Post-Gaddafi, and thanks to Obama’s support for the al-Qaeda linked jihadis who were always a part of the opposition, the very few churches there are under attack and bombed; nuns are harassed and forced to flee; Christians possessing Bibles are arrested and tortured (one recently died from his torture). It is the same now in Syria, which, under secular strongman Bashar Assad was tolerant towards its Christian minorities. Now, the “freedom-fighters”—code for the Obama-supported foreign jihadis—are targeting Christians for killing, displacement, and hostage taking for ransoms. The atrocities being committed are many and barbaric—beheadings, enslavements, rapes, and wholesale massacres...

I've spent a lot of time on atrocities committed by various factions of the Syrian rebellion. Beheadings, mass murders, strangling women, murdering wounded. Many are terrorist butchers of the worst sort.

But Assad's forces aren't much, if any, better. I've seen them strike off the fingers of wounded rebels, murder wounded rebels, mass murder, make videos where they murder someone while pretending to be the opposition, stick sticks down wounded rebels throats, abuse corpses, On and on....

But this takes the cake. (Assad's forces torture wounded cat and puppies, no kidding, don't watch it).

Nuke them! Nuke them all!

Its the only way to be sure.

Fatwa Forbidden For Kuffar Brunei

Brunei bans Kuffar from using 16 Islamic words.

As Sharia descends upon Brunei, non-Muslims are also forbidden to drink alcohol in public or be in close proximity to a Muslim partner. The banned word list is probably an attempt to forestall criticism of Islam, which is also forbidden to non-Muslims in Islamic law. In the West, the mainstream media has already voluntarily adopted this Sharia provision, even without a banned word list.

“19 Islamic words banned for non-Muslims in Brunei,” from The Sun Daily, February 23 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

They are azan; baitullah; Al Quran; Allah; fatwa; Firman Allah; hadith; haji; hukum syara’; ilahi; Ka’bah; kalimah al syahadah; kiblat; masjid; imam; mufti; mu’min; solat; and wali.
Fatwa? Fatwa? Fatwa?

I'm not sure about the charge of murdering peaceful protesters. It would seem the regime change, exile and new government was what was wanted. It seems there was a lot of violence and the last days of the regime. But maybe that will prevent him from attempting to return from his exile.

Anyway its good this has so far been resolved without civil war, civil wars suck. Just as the Syrians.

An Example Of Poor Gun Control

Detroit needs to work on gun control. Take this woman to a shooting range and teach her to aim properly.

Her gun looks really scary. Especially to the young men (who, no doubt, look like Obama's sons had he had sons) whose sensitivities are so much more valuable than the lives of a young mother and her children.

Expect liberals in office to charge her and then move to ban the weapon she used.

Advice to Dutch: Let them go to Syria

The benefits of jihad in Syria are many fold. First, the bad guys are somewhere else. You'd think this one would be obvious. Second, they're fighting a regime that needs to be fought. The only thing better than having an ally by your side in a fight? Letting two enemies fight instead. Last, they're probably going to die. One more dead jihadi, one less potential domestic terrorist, and in the process he takes out a member of Hezbollah? It's kind of a no brainer:

At least 10 young Dutch citizens suspected of wanting to become jihadist fighters in Syria's deadly conflict have been refused passports over the "last months", the government's anti-terror organization said on Friday.

"It is a very effective way to prevent them from leaving," Jochgem van Opstal, spokesman for the National Anti-Terror and Safety Coordinator (NCTV) agency told Agence France Presse.

The NCTV's announcement comes amid increased worries by Dutch authorities about young citizens leaving to join the jihad, or holy war in Syria.

More than 100 young Dutch citizens have so-far traveled to Syria to fight against President Bashar Assad's forces in the near three-year conflict in which 140,000 people have now died, according to NGO figures.

The counter argument here is that if they return, they are even more radical and now know a thing or two about fighting. Ok, I'll grant you that. But most of them don't come home. Also, if you make it a crime to fight in Syria you can arrest them as they get off the plane.

Baltimoreans Enjoying Free Time To Pursue Happiness

The American Dream:

_00_homeless_baltimore.jpg

Nancy Pelosi praised the loss of full time jobs due to Obamacare because the extra time off would allow citizens "the freedom to pursue happiness."

How wonderful it is that Baltimore now has camps dedicated to that pursuit of happiness!

From the DailyMail via Gateway Pundit:

A sheet of plastic laid over a clothesline. A mini-fortress of milk crates stacked under a tree. A thin mattress on a flimsy crate lying in a dark tunnel.

On the edge of Baltimore's woodlands, dozens of the city's transients live in makeshift homes which they consider safer than homeless shelters.

Photographer Ben Marcin has captured some of the shanties in his thought-provoking photo essay, 'The Camps', documenting the struggle, loneliness and ingenuity of Maryland's people of the woods.

Judge Rules that Looking For Islamist Extremists in Mosques Doesn't Violate Constitution

It always makes me lulz when people are *shocked* to learn that the police might be looking for bad guys in those places where bad guys would logically hang out. It's as if they live in an alternate universe where principles they learned in college outweigh the obvious. In this case, isn't it obvious that people with terrorist sympathies might just hang out in mosques where people with known terrorist sympathies congregate.

For Muslims who find it *shocking* and *appalling* that the police might want to have some mosques under surveillance I answer:

A) Not all mosques were under surveillance so claiming that you feel violated as a Muslim because some mosque you don't go to was being watched isn't a valid point. This is the reverse corollary to guilt by association: you feel violated by association.

B) What harm was done other than your feelings being hurt? The normal legal remedy for a harm done by the police is the exclusionary rule. If evidence was gathered illegally, then that evidence would be quashed in court. In this case, there's not even the allegation that evidence was gathered illegally only that the plaintiffs felt all icky and stuff because a cop might have attended mosque.

C) Where should the police look for radical Muslims, among the Amish in Pennsylvania? Despite what you learned in college, discrimination is only bad if and when there is no rational basis for that discrimination. In this case, choosing to watch Muslim communities to see if there were any bad guys is actually quite rational given that the vast majority of terrorists are Muslim.

The fact is that not only are the problems of Islamist terrorist tendencies to be found in the greater Muslim community, but also the solution to it which is Muslims of good conscience ratting the bad apples out. A great corollary example to this would be the fact that from the 1920s to the 1980s a lot of organized crime was to be found in the Italian-American community. And one of the greatest prosecutors of organized crime? Italian-American Rudy Giuliani.

NYT:

In a written decision filed in United States District Court in Newark, Judge William J. Martini dismissed a civil rights lawsuit brought in 2012 by eight Muslims who said the New York Police Department’s surveillance programs were unconstitutional because they focused on religion, national origin and race. The suit accused the department of spying on ordinary people at several mosques, restaurants and grade schools in New Jersey since 2002.

The plaintiffs, including the former principal of a grade school for Muslim girls, “have not alleged facts from which it can be plausibly inferred that they were targeted solely because of their religion,” Judge Martini wrote. “The more likely explanation for the surveillance was to locate budding terrorist conspiracies.”

The judge added, “The police could not have monitored New Jersey for Muslim terrorist activities without monitoring the Muslim community itself.”

“The motive for the program,” he added, “was not solely to discriminate against Muslims, but to find Muslim terrorists hiding among the ordinary law-abiding Muslims.”

Oh, and let me also point out that police generally do not need a warrant to do things which any citizen is able to do. "Surveillance" is just a fancy word we use which means to watch. Civil libertarians are often upset when they hear that the police have been "surveilling". You might as well accuse Vinnie of "surveilling" gay bars or Howie of "surveilling" Kate Upton (I'll grant that in the latter case "stalking" would be a more appropriate word). If I have the legal right to walk into a mosque and listen to a sermon then police have the same right. In fact, both of us could be doing "surveillance" yet neither of us needs a warrant to justify our actions as long as the meeting is open to the public.

A Way Out in Kiev?

An agreement was signed between the Ukrainian government and protest leaders.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition protesters have agreed to an early presidential poll before the end of the year.

The German and Polish ministers met protesters in Kiev's Independence Square before announcing their leaders backed the deal.

The agreement was later signed by opposition leaders and Mr Yanukovych at the presidential administration headquarters in Kiev.

The 2004 constitution will be restored within 48 hours, and a national unity government will be formed within 10 days.

Constitutional reform balancing the powers of president, government and parliament will be started immediately and completed by September.

A presidential election will be held after the new constitution is adopted but no later than December 2014.

We pray this trend continues and the violence ends.

Like Buddy Holly & The Big Bopper, Founder of Libyan Islamic Group Meets With "Terrible" Accident

A plane carrying a founder of al-Qeada and the extremist Libyan Islamic Fighting Group is rumored to have been on what's left of this plane.

Founder of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, Meftah Daouedi member alias Abu Abd El Ghafar died in the plane crash in Libya Grombalia February 21, 2014.

Meftah Daouedi is an official in charge of the martyrs, wounded and missing and Chairman of the Military Council. He was imprisoned in Bouslim after being involved with Al Qaeda responsible for terrorist operations and attacks of groups resulted in deaths.

large_news_CRASH-AVION-LIBYE (1).jpg

Abu Abd El Ghafar is one of the main founders of the fighter group, it was Afghanistan where he founded the Ansar Camp and became emir of the group.

Here is some video from the scene.

The chatter is that a who's who of Ansar al-Sharia leaders were totally lost in the crash.

Apparently the plane was header for Libya but the Libyan ambassador has denied any terrorists were on the plane. Just doctors and some sickly wounded orphans and puppies.

As for the cause of the crash. Freak accident probably, don't you think?

notusweswear.jpg

But All the stories on this are in French..... (Le wink wink, Le nod nod)

Last week it was said that an al-Qaeda leader being forced from Iran was headed for Libya. One can only hope he was one of the sickly wounded orphans.

New Smart Guns: Would You Pay An Extra $400 Dollars To Make You Less Safe?

It takes over 13 seconds just to activate the watch. And that's in a relaxed, comfortable environment undoubtedly with plenty of practice. Let's just hope the batteries never fail in an emergency...

The Smart System iP1, a .22-caliber pistol made by the German gun-maker Armatix GmbH, can only function with an accompanying wristwatch, which is sold separately.

When the RFID-equipped watch is activated by a PIN number and placed near the gun — like when a shooter grips the handle — it sends a signal to unlock the gun and a light on the back of the weapon turns green, according to the report. Otherwise, the firearm stays locked and the light on the back remains red, it stated. (Source)

I'll stick with my current handguns that are always 100% ready to go and immediately accessible.

Taliban Murders 23 POWs, Pakistan Retaliates w/ Air Strikes

I'd say it's on in Pakistan, but we all know it isn't. Pakistan is so messed up -- with one faction of the government supporting the Taliban, while other factions of the government oppose the Taliban; but just the "bad" Taliban, and not the "good" Taliban -- that we'll probably read similar news every few months for the next 100 years.

The only real long-term solution here is the end of Pakistan as a nation-state. It's neither a nation or a state, but really a failed idea the being "Muslim" constituted a separate national identity than being "Indian". The sooner that country ceases to exist the sooner the world can move on to better things.

NYTimes:

Pakistani fighter jets pounded Taliban hideouts in the country’s northwestern tribal regions in overnight raids into Thursday, and security officials said at least 35 people suspected of being militants, including several foreign fighters, had been killed....

The overnight raids, which started Wednesday night and lasted an hour, were directed at villages in the Mir Ali district of North Waziristan, according to the security official. Those killed included both Pakistani and Uzbek fighters, the official said. However, the claim could not be independently verified.

On Sunday, a Taliban faction said it had killed 23 paramilitary soldiers in captivity, dealing a sharp blow to the already faltering peace talks between the government and militants. The paramilitary soldiers, belonging to the Frontier Corps, had been in captivity since 2010.

Wow, who could have foreseen that peace talks with the Taliban wouldn't work?

Ukraine Spirals Out of Control

Truce? No Truce?

CNN:About 100 killed, 500 injured in violence in Ukraine since this morning, protesters' chief medical coordinator says.

A shaky truce crumbled Thursday as gunfire erupted at Independence Square, the center of anti-government protests and an increasingly violent crisis that has left dozens dead and hundreds injured in recent days.

At least 100 people have died and 500 have been injured since Thursday morning, the head of the protesters' medical service told CNN.

The Ukrainian government has not released an updated figure, but the interior ministry said earlier that one police officer was among the dead.

It's unclear what prompted the gunfire just hours after the government declared a truce. But CNN crews at the scene reported that as security forces were moving away from the area, a group of protesters pursued them, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails.

I included that last video because it claims to be the latest views and shows at least some areas to be fairly calm.

There are a lot of very recent uploads at Ukraine Live.

Sarah Palin Makes First 2014 Endorsement : Katrina Pierson for Texas CD32

Katrina-Pierson-US-Congress (1)-250.pngIn her very first endorsement of 2014, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has endorsed Texas Tea Party activist Katrina Pierson in the uphill battle to unseat 17-year establishment incumbent Pete Sessions.

Gov. Palin joins Michelle Malkin, Glenn Reynolds, Rafael Cruz, Sr., FreedomWorks, Tea Party Express, Tea Party Nation, the Republican Liberty Caucus and many other conservative and liberty-minded groups and individuals supporting Pierson.

While stopping short of a full formal endorsement, Senator Ted Cruz has publicly declared that Pierson is "an utterly fearless, principled conservative."

Pete Sessions, the 17-year incumbent in the race, has long been a thorn in the side of conservatives. For the past year, he has been using his position to block the move for a House Select Committee to investigate Benghazi. Sessions is a strong ally of Speaker John Boehner, and has voted against conservatives on many key votes, including Medicare Part D, the Wall Street Bailout, the Fiscal Cliff tax increases, Obama's NSA warrantless surveillance programs, the Farm Bill and the Omnibus Spending Bill, among many others. Last year, Sessions used his position as Rules Chairman to block an effort by House conservatives to defund ObamaCare.

Pierson's website is at KatrinaForCongress.com.

The primary election will be held March 4th.

Rusty Needs to be on Dagestani Islamists "Enemies List"

Over at vDagestan.com, the jihadis promising to blow up the Sochi Olympics also have a public "enemies list". A list of people they think deserve to die for various "crimes against Islam", most of said "crimes" seeming to be really heinous stuff .... like saying bad things about vDagestan in obscure online publications.

This offends me. Not that jihadis would threaten the lives of journalists. No, that doesn't bother me at all. No, what really offends me is that I'm not on that list.

This shall not stand.

Here are a few reasons why Rusty Shackleford ought to be put on vDagestan's enemies list.

1) Hotlinking. Hotlinking is when one website takes images from another website, but uses that other website's bandwidth to do it. Instead of hosting the image on my website, I "steal" it from you. Which is what I'm doing now with this image from vDagestan.

Two Chechen fighters show their support for the US hockey team

Yes, I'm hotlinking you. What are you going to do about it?!?

2) Making fun of martyrs. This guy? Yeah, he's gay. Not in a bad way. No, I mean, I know he's gay. But gay in a really manly way. As in manly-man gay. He took it like a man. Not like some queer boy sissy.

Getting gay w/ Abdul Aziz

Also, I may have just hotlinked that image.

3) Did I mention you guys are gay? This time I mean as a group, not individually like Abdul above. How do I know that? Come on guys, this is really gay.

Gay pride parade in the Caucuses

Also --> HOTLINKED!

4) I spit on your Koran and your "Prophet" Mohammad. And I only spit to put out the fire. Yes, I really burned a Quran.*

Rusty burns Quran

Also, if I'm not on that death list within 48 hours I promise to burn another Quran.

Fatwa?

Islamic Cleric Issues Fatwa Against Rescuing Princess Leia

They're gonna execute her! Look, a few minutes ago you said you didn't want to just wait here to be captured. Now all you want to do is stay?

Marching into a detention area is not what I had in mind.

Religious clerics in the UAE have issued a fatwa against one-way trips to Mars, arguing that inhabiting the Red Planet goes against Islamic teachings.

“Such a one-way journey poses a real risk to life, and that can never be justified in Islam,” ruled the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment, the Dubai-based Khaleej Times reported.

“There is a possibility that an individual who travels to planet Mars may not be able to remain alive there, and is more vulnerable to death,” the committee said.

Ukraine On The Edge of Civil War

I've not really followed the protests in Ukraine, but yesterday up to 25 people were killed when the police tried to disperse the crowds, followed by protesters starting fires.

Reports on NPR speculate that if a settlement is not reached a state of civil war is just around the corner.

It seems this is a very serious test of the Post Soviet era for former member states. Many of these republics have fallen into a state of war. In the south Islamist movements are a problem, whereas in the more northern far Eastern European nations like Ukraine the move is for accountable democratic rule rather than the Semi-Democratic Thugocracies that have taken hold.

So the test is if these nations can evolve a peaceful balance between the Russian and European influences.

It's not looking too good.

al-Qaeda Bombs More Iranian Stuff

Iran promptly blames the Jooooooos!

Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned Wednesday's twin suicide attack targeting an Iranian Cultural Center in a Beirut suburb, blaming “Zionist agents” unhappy with the formation of an all-embracing Lebanese government.

“The perpetrators behind this criminal operation are the enemies of safety, security, and Lebanon’s unity. They are agents of the Zionist enemy who felt disappointed and despair when the new Lebanese inclusive government was formed,” Foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said in a statement.

Yeah, they probably used their new Laser Shark Guided Cruise Missile.

Jaish al-Adl Kidnaps Five Iranian Border Guards -- Iran Threatens Pakistani Invasion

Reuters:

Pakistan warned Iran on Tuesday not to send troops across the two countries' shared border to retrieve five kidnapped Iranian border guards, an incident that threatens to exacerbate regional and sectarian tensions.

On Monday, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli was quoted as saying Iran might consider sending its forces onto Pakistani soil if Pakistan did not take the steps necessary to fight against militants.

"Iranian forces have no authority to cross our borders in violation of the international law. We must respect each other's borders," the Pakistani government statement said.

Predominantly Shi'ite Iran says militants seized the guards about 5 km (3 miles) inside Iran on February 6 in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan and took them into Pakistan.

A Sunni insurgent Iranian group calling itself Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, according to a Twitter account purporting to belong to the group. Its authenticity could not be immediately verified.

Saudi Arabia's al-Arabiya TV broadcast this clip of the kidnapped guards.

This isn't the first time the proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia has resulted in the death of Iranian border guards. More than a dozen were murdered by Jaish al-Adl in November 2013.

In addition to the above linked Twitter account Jaish al-Adl maintains a website on Google's blogspot here. As well as a Facebook account here.

Update: Yes they're also on Youtube.

Update II: This particular kidnapping may be revenge for Iran hanging several members in early February. Looking further, the hanging post was published on February 10th, these men were taken on February 6th.

UPDATE by Rusty: I posted on this the day they got taken hostage, but can't find the post. But I think the real take-away here is that the Iranians are threatening to invade Pakistan, and Pakistan is threatening maximum resistance if they do.

The only thing that gives me wood quicker than the thought of an all-out war between India and Pakistan? An all-out war between Iran and Pakistan. If there was war between India and Pakistan at least I'd be rooting for the Indians. But between Iran and Pakistan? It's win-win, baby!

Syrian War Ends al-Qaeda Refuge in Iran

I mean that's pretty good news, that Iran is deporting senior al-Qaeda members who they had been providing safe haven.

A senior al-Qaeda figure with close ties to the terrorist group’s current leader has left Iran, where he had lived for years after fleeing American forces in Afghanistan in 2001, according to former and current U.S. intelligence officials.

Thirwat Shihata is the latest terrorist suspect to leave Iran, raising questions about the country’s motives for allowing or forcing the departure of a string of al-Qaeda members that it had sheltered over the past decade.

Even if the safe haven provided was for Iran's own self interest as a bargaining chip the fact they are no longer welcome is um, good, yeah?

So where would senior al-Qaeda leader who had been hiding in Iran for ten years go? Where could he find safe passage to?

It was not clear when Shihata departed Iran, but a former U.S. official, who also requested anonymity, said he was believed to have traveled to Libya. The CIA declined to discuss Shihata’s whereabouts.

Later in Baghdad

I bet you can guess what happened. Come one, one little guess..

There is devastation in several parts of Baghdad after a series of bomb attacks that killed at least 49 people on Monday night.

Nine people died in car bomb explosions that targeted mosques in the Iraqi capital’s predominantly Shi’ite districts of Amil and Karrada.

In the worst attack, a minibus blew up at a bus station in the Ur neighbourhood in northern Baghdad, leaving at least 11 people dead according to police.

The bus, parked inside the station, had already aroused suspicion when it exploded, setting several other vehicles on fire.

Elsewhere a car bomb near a busy street in the western district of Ghazaliya killed four others.

No group immediately claimed responsibility but Shi’ites are often targeted by Sunni Islamist insurgents who have been gaining ground in Iraq over the past year and overran several towns in recent weeks.

In separate incidents in the northern city of Tikrit, gunmen shot dead a police colonel and a barber inside his shop.

The army on Monday was fighting to wrest control of Sulaiman Pek from Sunni militants who took over parts of the northern town last Thursday and raised the black flag of the Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) over it.

ISIL is active in the civil war in neighbouring Syria and is also present in the city of Falluja, which has been under siege by the army since January 1, when militants took over.

For a total of 49 dead.....

Just. Freaking Lovely.

Suicide Bomber Murders 4, Injures 14 on Egyptian Tour Bus

Three of the victims were South Korean Christians trying to see religious sites on the Sinai peninsula:

The bombing of a tourist bus on Sunday in Taba, South Sinai, was caused by a suicide bomber who boarded the bus and detonated the explosion immediately after, said interior ministry spokesperson Hani Abdel-Latif.

Prior to the blast, the bus driver had accompanied two South Korean tourists to the baggage hold. As they returned to the bus, an unknown man followed them inside and the bomb went off immediately, said Abdel-Latif, as reported by Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.

The bomber took advantage of the moment when the bus door was open and the driver and the two tourists were returning to their seats, Abdel-Latif added.

The Egyptian government blames 'The Muslim Brotherhood', but it's far more likely that these were Salaafists with al Qaeda sympathies. The government has taken to calling all jihadists "The Muslim Brotherhood" these days.

The area where the attack happened is literally on the border with Israel and various jihadist groups have been active there. The bus was on it's way to Eilat, the sole Israeli town on the Red Sea, which has bee the victim of multiple attacks in the past.

Awesome: Press Continues to Leak Clues About American on Drone List

Seriously, someone in this Administration/intel community who is leaking details about who is on the drone list really needs to be jailed. This information is specific enough that the drone target has now been given warning that he's on the list. How many American born, al Qaeda central, bomb makers can there be in Western Pakistan?

The American al Qaeda member who the Obama administration is considering killing through a drone strike is likely a bombmaker with little public profile who has been linked to the deaths of fellow citizens in Afghanistan, experts say.

A former U.S. security official told NBC News that the suspect is based in lawless western Pakistan, where missiles fired by American drones have slain dozens of suspected al Qaeda members since 2004.

According to one current and another former U.S. intelligence official, the potential target is considered a member of "al Qaeda Central," the core organization led by Osama bin Laden’s successor Ayman al Zawahiri.

Brilliant!

Islamists Murder 90 in Nigeria

Meanwhile, the jihad continues unabated in Nigeria:

Suspected Islamist fighters killed at least 90 people in an early morning attack on a village in remote northeast Nigeria on Sunday, witnesses said.

The Boko Haram gunmen surrounded the village of Izge, near the border with Cameroon, spraying it with bullets, setting off explosions and burning down dozens of houses, they said.

"As I am talking to you now, all the dead bodies of the victims are still lying in the streets," resident Abubakar Usman told Reuters by telephone. "We fled without burying them, fearing the terrorists were still lurking in the bushes."

And in the spirit of fairness, in the Central African Republic the ethnic cleansing seems to be going the other way. Muslims are claiming this is a genocide of Christians against Muslims. I've seen some of the images coming out of the CAR and it's pretty gruesome. It's the kind of machete wielding close-up mass murder we had all hoped had ended in Africa. And the fact that some of the images show old-school cannibalism of the victims suggests that the perpetrators are animists, not Christians. They may call themselves 'Christians', but when you start eating your victim's body in hopes of capturing his soul and power then I'm pretty comfortable excluding you from even a very broadly defined Christianity.

Yes, Most Judges Are this Stupid (And why lawyers make terrible Judges of the Constitution)

The judge who just ruled the Constitution requires states to recognize same-sex marriage? Yeah, this judge also thinks the Constitution says all men are created equal:

"Our Constitution declares that 'all men' are created equal. Surely this means all of us," Judge Allen wrote on the first page of her opinion. That line opens the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence and appears nowhere in the Constitution.
Somewhere Thomas Jefferson and James Madison are rolling over in their graves.

This is also why we can't trust lawyers to know the difference between 'Constitutional' and 'I like it so it must be in the Constitution'. These people aren't taught the Constitution in 'Constitutional Law', instead they are taught what Courts have said about the Constitution.

It's studying the Constitution, once removed. Not studying the object of study itself, instead only studying what others have said about the object.

I'd bet that if you asked a sample of judges in the country if they can name one thing that, say Article VII of the Constitution talks about, that fewer than 10% could do it.

I'd also guess that an even smaller percentage could define 'Constitutionalism' (which is the notion that government can be limited through written charter).

Instead, they are taught 'legal reasoning' -- or how to think like a lawyer. They are then taught case law, which is that 'law' is nothing more than what judges say it is and that it evolves over time. They then apply this 'legal reasoning' and case law methodologies to the Constitution.

But the Constitution can't be read like normal laws nor does normal legal reasoning apply to it. The entire reason for writing down the Constitution was to insure that the will of the people superseded the whims of government. And since judges are government, then deciding what the Constitution means based on what people in government says is very much the opposite of what the Founders intended. It is letting the inmates decide the rules of the asylum.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a diatribe against judicial review. It is a diatribe against judges who are too dumb to realize that normal legal reasoning cannot be applied to the Constitution.

The Constitution trumps normal law because it was 'ordained' (See Preamble and Article VII) by the people. This is at the root of the argument for judicial review -- the sovereign will of the people as established in the Constitution cannot be overridden by agents of the government -- normally state legislatures and Congress. What judges fail to see, though, is that agents of the government included them.

There are three branches of government, not two. Courts are government!

The reason we wrote down the Constitution was to limit what people in government do -- including judges. And because the Constitution is written law that trumps case law, it must be interpreted as written and not as we would have liked it to have been written. It can never 'evolve' because it isn't case law. It cannot mean one thing one day and then something else the next day. There are no 'principles' that trump the actual text of the document. Judges are no more empowered to exercise power not granted to them by the sovereign people than Congress or state legislatures.

This judge needs to be impeached. In fact, all judges that 'find' things in the Constitution that aren't there need to be impeached. If a judge thinks there are Constitutional 'principles' they need to be impeached. If they think the Constitution can 'evolve' they need to be impeached.

If the Constitution empowers the judiciary to check Congress, then it also empowers Congress to check an out of control federal judiciary. Impeach the bastards!

Yeah, I know that ain't going to happen anytime soon. But one can dream, can't they?

IMAGES: ISIS Proudly Beheads Alawites in Azaz, Syria

Last week the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) took over the Alawite town of Azaz. Today they are proud to announce that they murdered four Alawite "dogs" by beheading them and then desecrating their bodies. It's not clear what their 'crime' was only that their 'plot' was 'thwarted'.

I'll remind you that it is the jihadis themselves posting these images. These aren't people pointing out war crimes. These are people proudly putting their murders on display.

In this particular instance, they also have replaced the head of one of the victims with .... something. It looks like a toy, or maybe something else designed for a child or a woman and which, apparently, the jihadis thought was pretty funny. Any one with the stomach to look at the pic below have a guess as to what that is?

'Muslim Patrol' Members Given Restraining Order Against Assaulting People w/ Sharia

The three members of the 'Muslim patrol' who last year were seen in videos posted on YouTube assaulting people in East London have been given the British equivalent of restraining orders. In addition to the jail time for the assaults which were handed out last December, the three today were told by a judge that they are not to advocate sharia publicly and are forbidden from meeting with each other or Anjem Choudary.

You'll recall that these guys claimed that East London was a 'Muslim area'. A guy we termed 'Red Beard' since he showed up in so many of Choudary's videos was the ring leader. Daily Mail:

Three religious vigilantes who terrorised innocent members of the public as the self-styled ‘Muslim Patrol’ have been banned from promoting Sharia Law in Britain.
Jordan Horner, 20, Royal Barnes, 23, and Ricardo MacFarlane, 26, were jailed for a total of two years and ten months [Ed note: that's total for the three, the longest sentence was just over a year for Horner and the shortest was 6 months for Barnes] for touring East London harassing people they deemed to be ‘non-believers’.

The three men were today also slapped with a five-year Asbo banning them from distributing material about Sharia Law to the public, or even meeting each other.
The trio are also banned from associating with controversial preacher Anjem Choudary.

You can see a video of them trying to enforce Sharia law in London here.

H/T: Anjem Choudary who overlooks the fact that these guys were guilty of assault and claims the three are being oppressed for unpopular speech.

Heartbreak! al-Qeada Plot to Assassinate Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah Foiled

Dag nabbit! Well at least we all get time now to secure more popcorn.

A few days ago, sources with links to takfiri groups operating in the Qalamoun region in Syria leaked information that major operations are being planned against Hezbollah in the coming few days. Security agencies circulated information about a plot involving suicide bombers and members of al-Qaeda that was meant to target Dahiyeh - Beirut’s southern suburb - in the coming three days. The plot’s climactic event was meant to take place during the speech delivered by Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah Sunday afternoon to commemorate the anniversary of the martyred leaders of the Islamic resistance.

Although the security agencies pursuing these groups were already on high alert last week, sensitive information about the imminence of the plot’s execution prompted strict monitoring operations which allowed them to determine that the whereabouts of Naim Abbas, a leading figure in the operation, was in Tariq al-Jdideh on a street that connects the neighborhood to the Corniche al-Mazraa area. In a morning raid that took place at 6:30 am, Abbas was found with another person, a Lebanese national, who confessed during investigations that he is a suicide bomber receiving instructions from Abbas to set off a car bomb in Dahiyeh yesterday.

Had this plot succeeded who knows how many Hezbollah and al-Qaeda could have died in the subsequent violence.

You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men. Maybe it will work out better next time.

Leftist Utopia Using Deadly Force Against Student Protesters

Celebrity leftists like Sean Penn, Danny Glover, and Susan Sarandon tout Venezuela as a modern, fair society that America should shrive to be like. Those same stars consider America a fascist state for treating OWS protesters with kid gloves for months on end.

Yet, like the cowards they are, these leftists disappear when the dictators they love(via Gateway Pundit) show their true colors:

Eventually I started to get the body count. I looks like the regime used storm troopers to kill 3 protesters although 1 may be a chavista. Dozens of people injured? Things are obscure because the cadena kept going on in La Victoria with a night military parade. I will have to wait more for more hardcore news, but I am leaving you with some interesting stuff. The first one is a video when someone actually gets shot. You need to pay close attention and maybe look at it twice. But you will be sensible to the extensive shots, totally overdone if coming from security forces as students/protesters where running away. [...]

Today we saw all the hallmarks of repression from a dictatorship:
- media censorship and closing of whoever had to be closed
- ignorance of the reality as the regime pretends all is fine though an official function (Titanic like orchestra?)
- brutal and disproportionate repression by police and army
- arrests by the dozen
- crimes through pro regime storm troopers
- pictures of assassinated people popping up on twitter

The video:

Update: Three Demonstrators were killed in the incident, Identified as Bassil Da Costa, another known as Juancho and one unidentified person.

A tweet of one of the fallen is below the fold although I don't know the identity of the victim.

More Please! British Boxer Killed Fighting w/ Jihadis in Syria

Sure there's a risk that those going to Syria eventually come home and are better trained to commit acts of terrorism here, but it seems to me that most of those going to Syria aren't going to come home:

An amateur boxer has become the tenth known Briton to have died fighting President Bashar al-Assad’s forces in Syria.

On Thursday police were searching the house where Anil Khalil Raoufi, 20, a mechanical engineering student, lived with his family in a suburb of Manchester.
Officers said they were attempting to establish how "a man from the North West" could have come to be killed in Syria, although they did not confirm his identity.

It is believed that Raoufi was fighting with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), a jihadist group linked to al-Qaeda.

Hell, instead of prosecuting these guys if we discover their intentions why not buy them a one-way ticket?

Debunking the DHS Sniper Meme

I saw that link over at Drudge the other day making paranoid claims about the DHS buying hundreds of thousands of "sniper rounds". I even followed the link to the 9/11 Truther sight "Infowars" where some idiot thought the .308 ballistic" Zombie Max" round was scary and I had to chuckle. This is so obviously stupid, I said to myself, that no one will believe it!

Of course, people are not only stupid they are paranoid, so when "news" like this breaks they believe it because they are stupid and it fits right in with their paranoid world view. But Bob Owens debunks the "article" thoroughly here.

Please, if you are stupid and paranoid read this.

Of course, I've just insulted stupid paranoid people so those types are much less likely to read the article now. But I don't care, I feel better after insulting them. It just feels so right.

Husband/Wife Admit Posting Videos Praising Murder of Lee Rigby

I've actually seen a bunch of people praising the murder of Lee Rigby. He was in the British equivalent of the National Guard so they claim it wasn't murder, just an act of legitimate warfare. This pair's mistake? They made a series of YouTube videos about it and in the UK that is a no-no: no First Amendment:

British Muslim who was friends with one of Fusilier Lee Rigby's murderers has admitted posting sickening videos on YouTube glorifying the brutal killing.

Royal Barnes, 23, from Hackney in east London, and his wife Rebekah Dawson, 22, recorded and uploaded three videos shortly after Drummer Rigby's shocking murder in Woolwich in May 2013.

In one seven-minute video, Barnes hailed the murder as a "brilliant day", while in another posted under his account Musa Real Talks he mocked the outpouring of public grief....

He pleaded guilty to three counts of disseminating a terrorist publication and one of inciting murder during a hearing at the Old Bailey.

His wife, who had insisted on wearing her veil in court, had already admitted disseminating a terrorist publication at a previous hearing and is awaiting sentence.

I'm sure that his stance on murdering soldiers will go over well in Belmarish prison. Let's hope his cell mate "Bubba" is a veteran.

Hot Olympic Skier Jackie Chamoun Boobies Cause Outrage in Lebanon

The Lede:

Lebanon’s fractured sense of national identity was on full display this week, as bloggers rallied online to defend the honor of a female Olympian, the skier Jackie Chamoun, accused by the country’s sports minister of tarnishing the nation’s image by posing for seminude photographs on the slopes outside Beirut.

As the blogger Abir Ghattas explained, the photographs of the young skier and a colleague, and a risqué promotional video for the calendar they were used in, were unknown in Lebanon until a television channel, Al Jadeed, published them on Monday under the headline, “Scandal — Lebanese Skiing Champions Are Nude Starlets!”

Abdallah Azzam Brigades Claims Bombing of Iranian Embassy

Daily Star:

he Qaeda-linked Abdallah Azzam Brigades allegedly released a video Wednesday showing footage of the Nov. 19 double suicide attack against the Iranian embassy in Beirut, for which it has claimed responsibility.

The 18-minute video, entitled “The attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut,” went viral on social media after it was posted, although could not be independently verified.

The video includes recorded warnings from the group's late leader, Majid al-Majid, who died last month in a Beirut military hospital, as well as from Mouin Abu Dahr, one of two suicide bombers who carried out the attack, which killed 30 people and wounded over 150 others.

The group’s spokesperson, Sirajeddine Zureiqat, also appears in the video threatening the Defense Ministry and Lebanese Army Intelligence.

Now has the video here.

Highlights are at 4:18 the recitation of what Abdallah Azzam considers the enemies of Islam. Including but not limited to... the leader of Hezbollah, Bashar Assad, Russia, Amerikkka and of course the list would not be complete without out the Joooos!@%$@# Eleventy.

Chechen Terror Supporters Now Big Fans of John McCain

I don't follow John McCain on my Twitter account, but I do follow the Chechen terror supporters at the Kavkaz Center who, apparently, are big fans of John McCain's stance on Syria.

mccain-retweeted-kavkaz.JPG

These would be the same people who ran the following stories recently:
Caucasus Emirate Mujahideen use prayers against Satanic games in Sochi -- in which a Dagestani terrorist justifies the murder of 6 Russian civilians as tit-for-tat retribution

Mujahideen liberate village in Syria's Hama -- by "mujahideen" they mean terrorists who proceeded to massacre Muslims who weren't the right kind of Muslim

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan airs Kabul CIA office attack video -- Yes, these people support the Taliban

I'm sure John McCain means well, and who doesn't hate the Assad regime? But when it comes right down to it the fighters on the ground aren't just anti-Assad -- many of them are for replacing Assad with a Taliban like state. And when these guys think you're awesome, maybe it's time to reevaluate your position?

"American" Jihadi Accuses al Qaeda affiliate of being spies, mean to other group of al Qaeda

This guy calls himself "Abu Muhammad al-Amreki" and he claims to be a former fighter for the al Qaeda affiliatd al-Nusrah Front. In the video he claims to have left al-Nusrah for the no longer al Qaeda affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and Syria after al-Nusrah went into this town and massacred a bunch of people and stole their weapons and what not.

Pop some popcorn before watching. It's real inside baseball and filled with mundane details about the dispute, but at least it's the kind of inside baseball that's red-on-red. Seriously, what could be better than one group of fanatical Islamists turning their guns on another group of fanatical Islamists?

Any guess as to where he's from? He claims to have lived in the US for 10 - 11 years, but from the accent it's clear that he's not from here. Russian, maybe?

Iran Hangs Poet Hashem Shabani

NPR:

The Iranian poet Hashem Shaabani was reportedly executed last month as an "enemy of God," according to human rights groups. Shaabani was a founder of the Dialogue Institute, which promoted Arab culture in Iran. In a statement last week, the human rights group Freedom House condemned the execution, saying: "His judicial murder underscores two important trends in Iran: Violent repression of ethnic minorities, of which Shaabani's execution is only one among many examples, remains government policy. And the government's human rights record has not improved under President Rouhani. During the first two weeks of January, some 40 individuals were executed; Iran is believed to be second only to China in the number of executions." Al-Jazeera adds that Shaabani was reportedly hanged along with another man on Jan. 27 and that, "according to BBC Persian, officials from the Ministry of Information informed the condemned men's families that they had been hanged, and they would be subsequently informed on the location of the men's burial site."

The Mullahs Are Coming! The Mullahs Are Coming!

By now most of you have heard about the vaunted Iranian naval force of two ships steaming straight for our Atlantic coast in an attempt to make us make fudge in our pants.

Yeah, not so much.

“From a tactical perspective, neither one of these ships are any good; they are an afterthought to the U.S, Navy from a warfare perspective,” said Christopher Harmer, senior naval analyst at the Institute for the Study of War. “From a strategic standpoint, they are very important.”

...

If the ships make it across the ocean to U.S. maritime waters, they wouldn't even be a match for Coast Guard cutters, Johnson said.

“The point would be that the world is a much smaller place,” Johnson said, perhaps leading to expanded political pressure stateside to increase American presence in the region. “It’s a message to their population that we’re a conventional power.”

So, it's nothing more than a publicity stunt for the Iranian people. A sizable portion of whom probably don't care because they hate their government.

Terrorist Class for Suicide Bombers Goes Terribly Right

Do not read this story while consuming beverages of any kind, the spewage may do irreparable damage to your computer:

[A] commander at a secluded terrorist training camp north of Baghdad unwittingly used a belt packed with explosives while conducting a demonstration early Monday for a group of militants, killing himself and 21 other members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, army and police officials said....

In addition to the 22 militants who were killed, 15 others were wounded in the explosion on Monday at the militant compound, in a rural area of northeastern Salahuddin Province, according to police and army officials. Stores of other explosives, including explosives packed in at least 10 vehicles, ready for operations, were found at the camp, as well as heavy weapons, the officials said.

Eight militants were arrested when they tried to escape, the officials said. The militant commander who was conducting the training was not identified by name, but an Iraqi Army officer described him as a prolific recruiter who was “able to kill the bad guys for once.”

Science! Women Like Men, Feminists Crushed

What sort of science is this that tells us that most women like men, not Marxist lesbians?

Ideologues fetishize intellectual abstractions to the point that real life confuses them. Lori Gottlieb is therefore stunned:
The more traditional the division of labor, meaning the greater the husband’s share of masculine chores compared with feminine ones, the greater his wife’s reported sexual satisfaction.
So says an academic study, at least, and therefore the science is settled. The problem — maybe Gottlieb doesn’t understand this — is that feminism is an ideology developed by lesbian Marxists who hate men. Feminist ideology is therefore not about improving relationships between men and women; it’s about teaching women to hate men, so that all women can become Marxist lesbians.
Remember two hot chicks together are Good Gay.

See figure A:

Main Threats to Turkey: Jews, Porn and Youtube

Never mind the war in Syria, or Iraq or a plethora of other issues, what really scares the Turks are those tempting Jewesseses.

In the aftermath of the latest bout of protests in Turkey, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan identified the latest set of conspirators out to sabotage his government: pornographers. The pro-government newspaper the Star published a headline accusing the “porn lobby” of instigating violent protests....

But evidently now that the AKP has come under fire for corruption scandals, a nose-diving currency, a feud with the Gulenist movement, continued popular dissent, a tottering foreign policy, and a war next door, the porn-watching, Lufthansa-flying, interest-rate manipulating Jews have found their opportunity to pounce.

AR-15 "Terrifies" Shoppers, Made Them Think They Would Die

3139115_G.jpg
A terrifying sight - a man with a scary-looking rifle!

It appears a Texas town has an arbitrary law which is based solely on the irrational fears of a bunch of pussies.

On Dec. 28, Derek Poe stopped by GameStop in Parkdale Mall before going to the store he owns in the mall, Golden Triangle Tactical. While at GameStop, he was stopped by police officers and the AR-15 that was slung around his back was seized.

Poe says he was just exercising his right to open carry a long rifle.

Police have charged him with disorderly conduct because he displayed a firearm "In a manner calculated to alarm."

Poe disagrees saying his rifle was facing barrel down on his back and his hands weren't even on the gun.

"It was clearly obvious I didn't have criminal intent. I had a drink in one hand and a bag in the other. I didn't commit a crime. I legally carried a long arm in Texas," Poe said.

Detectives say witnesses gave statements that they were "terrified" and "thought they were going to die." (Source)

Just FYI, Texas is an open carry state. But, apparently, a law against "alarming the public" supersedes the right to carry. Video of a detective explaining that to Poe below the fold.

Hopefully, Poe will have a chance to face his accusers in a court of law. But if the mere sight of a rifle terrifies them to the point they think they are going to die, I doubt they have the balls to show up for court.

War Crime! UK Islamists Torture and Murder FSA Fighter

British Muslims have carried out acts of torture and possibly executions in Syria, according to new video footage posted on social network sites.

Evidence of atrocities committed by British fighters with extreme Islamist groups emerged as another round of peace talks between the regime and the mainstream opposition opened in Geneva on Monday.

The two sides spent the day arguing about the agenda, and no progress has been made. The United Nations hopes to broker another ceasefire in the city of Homs to allow the delivery of aid and the evacuation of civilians from areas besieged by government forces.

Ministry of Irony: Gun Control Advocate Lobbied to Make Himself a Felon

Daily Caller:

A Buffalo, N.Y. community activist who is well known locally for pushing for a highly restrictive 2013 gun control law has been arrested for — wait for it — carrying a gun illegally at a public elementary school.

The arrested gun-control advocate, Dwayne Ferguson, caused quite a scene at Harvey Austin Elementary School, reports local CBS affiliate WIVB.

At about 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, police acted on a pair of anonymous 911 tips. A battalion of cops quickly swarmed the school. The brigade included over a dozen squad cars, the SWAT team and K9 units. The Erie County Sheriff’s Air One helicopter and what appears to be an armored vehicle also turned up.

... He said he frequently carries a pistol. He has a license but the license does not matter under the strict state law Ferguson helped pass.

Among much else, the 2013 law, deemed New York’s SAFE Act, made it a felony to carry a gun on school property, according to The Buffalo News.

While it was always illegal to carry a gun on school grounds, the new law bumped the crime from a misdemeanor to a felony in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Throw the book at him, seize his weapons! Not matter if it is silly, he argued for silly!

Do you really think leftist gun control advocates would cut you some slack in a similar situation? Hell no they wouldn't.

He made his bed, not he should lose his rights and do the four years in the clink. Just like he advocated for. Additional irony is now that Dwayne is in trouble his fellow gun control fiends think zero tolerance gun free zones are a good place for Dwayne to be packing because he could have protected the students.

Some of Ferguson’s supporters echoed similar criticism, saying that carrying a weapon meant Ferguson could have helped police in the event there was a gunman actually threatening students.

“Dwayne probably was in a position to help the police not knowing that he was the one they were looking for,” said George Johnson, president of Buffalo United Front,

Hypocrites! Guns for me but not for thee.

Muslim Mob Slaughters Christian For Walking By

Slaughtered just for walking...

He was a Christian walking in a Muslim enclave, carrying wood to sell. In these tense days, that is enough reason to die in the Central African Republic. A Muslim mob confronted Pumandele, 23, on a side street and pushed him around. Then, they threw him into a ditch. At least one man stabbed him before his throat was slit.

As the slaughter unfolded, some of his killers ordered a Washington Post journalist witnessing the attack Sunday to leave. "Allez, allez — go, go," one yelled, wagging his arms menacingly.

NAACP: Photo ID Required To Participate In Anti-Voter ID Protest

They require a photo ID to exercise 1st Amendment right to protest, but reject photo ID to vote in an election. That's the leftist mindset at work there...

The NAACP planned a peaceful march to protest the requirement of voter ID laws on Saturday at the "Moral March on Raleigh." Organizers said 20,000 to 30,000 Americans showed up to the protest. Rev. William Barber, president of the state NAACP, stated, "We return to Raleigh with a renewed strength and a renewed sense of urgency. This Moral March inaugurates a fresh year of grassroots empowerment, voter education, litigation and nonviolent direct action."

In a flyer sent out entitled "Important Do's and Don'ts for Marchers," some very responsible marching elements were listed for people's safety.

The most ironic recommendation on the list comes half way down, where march coordinators tell recipients:

"DO bring photo identification (driver's license, passport or other valid photo ID) with you and keep it on your persons at all times."

So, bring a photo ID to an anti-photo ID protest. Perfect.

Incidentally, you also need a photo ID to get into an Obama speech.

Second Jihadi Work Accident in Somalia Kills 11

Apparently the planets are perfectly aligned in opposition to the Moon God? I man Allah.

First the Islamic State of Losers in Iraq lose 22 Mujahideen when someone dials the wrong number, then al-Shabaab follows with IED accident killing 11.

At least 11 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed and five others injured after a car bomb they were making accidentally went off in the central Somali town of Bulo-Burte, witnesses and officials said. The explosion was heard around Bulo Burte close to the main town of Beledewyne, which is controlled by government forces and African Union (AU) troops."The explosion was very huge and I saw people fleeing from the area. Eight dead men were taken out of the house where the vehicle was constructed. Five more severely wounded fighters were also taken away,"
I can't believe Shabaab is going to let ISIS get the better of them on this. Shabaab always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Cornhole Watch: Revert Ashraf Islam

He gets three years for planning to kill Prince Harry.

A WHITE Muslim convert who plotted to kill Prince Harry because the Royal had "blood on his hands" was jailed for three years today.

shraf Islam, 31, confessed his plan to kill the Prince the day after Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered in Woolwich.

hairymuslim-459013.jpg

Belfast-born Islam, formerly known as Mark Townley, walked into Hounslow police station and revealed details of his plan - which he named "Operation Regal."

Today, the judge at Isleworth Crown Court in London described Islam's plot as "vague and unlikely to succeed", but said he presented a risk to the public.

The court heard how Islam suffers from a personality disorder and has no history of violence - but has been before the courts before for dishonesty and attempted robbery.

What an idiot, of course he was given leniency because he "suffers" from teh schtoopid.

How To Teach Bomb Making The Correct Way

Achmed the Dead Terrorist in real life!

Twenty-two ISIS members were killed, and 15 were wounded, in the explosion at the camp, which is in a farming area in the northeastern province of Samara, according to the police and army officials. Stores of other explosive devices and heavy weapons were also kept there, the officials said.

Eight militants were arrested when they tried to escape, the officials said.

The militant who was conducting the training was not identified by name, but he was described by an Iraqi Army officer as a prolific recruiter who was “able to kill the bad guys for once.”

Having a bad Monday? Why, a good jihadi work accident should clear up the doldrums and lift the spirits! Good job, "professor"!

Thanks to the Green Room.

Leak: White House Contemplating Droning Another al Qaeda (who happens to be American)

As you know, this pisses me off when my friends on the Right frame the issue of killing members of al Qaeda abroad who happen to be American citizens as: White House kills (executes, murders) American without due process.

Honestly, it's just stupid and I wish you would quit it. We are targeting members of al Qaeda. The fact that some of them are American is just coincidental.

What other options do we have? Drop a subpoena on a compound in Pakistan's tribal regions?

You'd expect people on the Left to use this argument, but on the Right? I don't care if you are a libertarian -- I am a small "l" libertarian. But there are no civil liberties in war. None. If I have the right to kill you and the right to life is the highest of our ordered liberties then there is nothing else I can do to you which even comes close. When you're dodging bullets due process is way down on the priority list.

Anyway, Ed over at Hot Air has all the bases covered on this one. The news isn't that detailed, only that there is an American somewhere in the world who is a member of al Qaeda that the White House is contemplating droning. Good for them. Moar drones puhlease!

You want to know what else pisses me off? There are only a dozen or less American members of al Qaeda abroad. So, this leak just tipped them off that they just got put on the drone list.

Hey, thanks CNN for the warning. You're a bunch of real patriots.

Trader Joe Non-Oppressed

This is why we can't have nice things.

The Portland African American Leadership Forum sent a blistering email to PDC leaders and Mayor Charlie Hales Wednesday demanding the urban renewal agency suspend the Trader Joe's development and all tax-increment-financed projects in the Interstate Corridor urban renewal area.

The lot is currently vacant and has been for years.

PAALF, established in 2009, is a group of African American leaders united around an agenda of equity in education, economic development, housing and health issues.

The Trader Joe's development will increase displacement of low-income residents and "increase the desirability of the neighborhood," for "non-oppressed populations," PAALF wrote.

PDC's board authorized selling the land, valued at $2.9 million last December, to Majestic Realty for just $502,160 last month. PAALF said the subsidized deal benefits "one of the richest families in the country."

Trader Joe's pulled out of the deal, so the really oppressed residents get to keep their 2.9 million dollar vacant lot vacant.

I guess no one thought that maybe some of the oppressed residents might get a job there and be able to improve their lives? Or that maybe the rising tide of an improved economy and more affluent residents might lift some of the more oppressed residents out of poverty?

Or maybe the community organizers got worried that maybe their captive population of disadvantaged people might get away and they'd end up having to get a real job?

Cut! Islamic State of Losers Propaganda Film Shoot Goes Horribly Right!

No virgins for you!

At least 21 insurgents have been killed in central Iraq after a car bomb was detonated by accident, reports say.

They were filming a propaganda video of the would-be suicide attacker when the blast occurred, the head of the local Sunni pro-government militia in Jilam told the AFP news agency.

Security sources confirmed there had been a blast around 08:00 (05:00 GMT).

I just love a story with a happy ending.

Red Mosque Imam Maulana Abdul Aziz Willing to Let 500 Women Blow Themselves Up
But Not Believer Enough to Blow Himself Up

I guess Imam Aziz is what we in the west like to call chickenshit.

The Pakistani Taliban has as many as 500 female suicide bombers ready to act, a representative of the group involved in peace negotiations said, underscoring the risk of further violence if talks fail.

imambetterherthanme.jpg

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan -- known as the Pakistani Taliban, or TTP -- sees no urgency to reach an agreement with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government, Maulana Abdul Aziz, one of three negotiators representing the TTP, said in a Feb. 7 interview at his Islamabad seminary. The two sides started talks last week.

“You should know that at the moment they have at least 400 to 500 female suicide bombers in Waziristan and other tribal areas,” said Aziz, former head cleric of Islamabad’s Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, referring to the TTP. “The government should realize the situation and their demands.”

Never send an Imam to do the dirty work. I mean you didn't think they actually believ in their own BS did you?

In all my years blogging at Jawa Report I've NEVER seen an Imam actually sacrifice himself, they always leave that to brainwashed followers.

Red on Red Continues in Syria

I'm snowed in so I won't be able to get to the store to restock the popcorn supply. Alas, today's show will be popcorn free.

Here's a report from the al Qaeda affiliated Jabhat al Nusra on their recent operations against the formerly al Qaeda affiliated Islamic State of Iraq & Syria:

Reports: Jabhat al-Nusra Strikes Back at Islamic State of Iraq in Eastern Syria

Numerous reports indicate that the Islamist faction Jabhat al-Nusra has hit back at the Islamic State of Iraq and as-Sham in Deir Ez Zor Province in eastery Syria, retaking facilities seizing by ISIS earlier this week.

ISIS had claimed control of a gas plant, several grain stores, and factories.

Jabhat al-Nusra reportedly retook the positions and launched more attacks with the assistance of local tribes, killing/martyred Libyan-born ISIS commander Abu Dujana.

al-Qaeda in Iraq and Syria's Little Jihad

Memri.

Increasingly over the past decade, Al-Qaeda and its affiliates and sympathizers have been aiming their outreach and recruitment efforts at pre-teens, and even much younger children. As part of these efforts, Al-Qaeda sheikhs are reaching out directly to Muslim youth. For example, last year, in an audio lecture released by the Al-Qaeda media arm Al-Sahab, emerging Al-Qaeda leader Sheikh Maulana Asim Umar urged even the youngest Muslims to "not stay with [their] parents" and to leave the "luxury" of home and "city life" to wage jihad

18057.jpg

But as shocking as this is, the most disturbing of all of these paeans to the jihadi cause and culture of death are the tweeted death photos of children killed fighting, and the praise that accompanies them.

For example, on the tweeted photo of a dead boy it says: "Abu Anas Al-Ansari, 14 years old and one of the youngest mujahideen martyred..." Another tweet of him adds, " May Allah, SWT (glorified and exalted is He), accept and grant him heaven."

Failed Airplane Hijacking in Turkey

Here's the initial report I saw, but I'll update if I find out there's more to the story:

While the plane was in the air, one of the passengers said that there was a bomb on board and asked the plane to not land in Sabiha Gokcen (in Turkey) but rather to land in Sochi," Transportation Ministry official Habip Soluk said Friday on CNNTurk.

The passenger said the bomb was in the baggage hold, a Transportation Ministry official said.

The plane landed in Istanbul and the guy is in custody and is said to be Ukrainian.

Worth the Watch: Vice on Syrian Conflict Spilling Over into Lebanon

Okay, so the other day I was complaining about Vice Media's report from Tripoli, Lebanon because there were al Qaeda flags everywhere and no one seemed to notice them. But I watched parts 3 - 5 today (really, just 25 minute long documentary that they split up and released in 5 parts) and they finally get around to talking about al Qaeda's presence in part 3.

tripoli-al-qaeda-flag-shia-notices.JPG

So I'm going to go ahead and encourage readers to watch this. I'm still a little miffed by the overall narrative. It's pretty much standard 'war is bad, mmmkay' type stuff. And it's the Allawite Baathist who's complaining about al Qaeda, not the narrator who only mentions in passing near the very end that the militia commander he's been following for the past 25 minutes is a "kind of Islamist Tony Soprano". That's kind of annoying.

But, again, it's worth the watch because it shows something I've been saying for years (and which my Christian Lebanese brother-in-law hates to hear) which is this: Lebanon is a failed state, and a sh*thole of an excuse for a "country". When those in charge are not busy building coalitions with Shia terrorists, they're busy looking the other way as al Qaeda builds an army from the ground up.

The documentary seems to be saying that this neighborhood is a microcosm of what's going on in neighboring Syria. It is. But what most miss is that Syria is a microcosm of what's going on in the entire Arab world. Which is itself just a microcosm of what's going on in the entire Muslim world.

In 1996 Professor Samuel P. Huntington famously noted that "the borders of Islam are bloody". He was right. But what he failed to mention was that the rest of Islam, not just its borders, are also equally bloody.

Terrorist "Workplace Accident" at .... Georgia Tech? Iranian Grad Student Blows Self, Apartment Up (UPDATE: Media Declares 'Not Terrorism')

saamer-akhshabi-georgia-tech-firebomb.JPG

UPDATE 2/07/2014: I saw this and thought I should update the post rather than start a new one. One of these things seems to contradict the other. From a news story yesterday:

Officials: No sign of terrorism in fire at Ga. Tech student’s apt.

Officials investigating an explosion at a Georgia Tech graduate student’s apartment that burned him on 90 percent of his body say there is no evidence of criminal intent, reports Atlanta Business Chronicle broadcast partner WXIA-TV.

And the same day:
Channel 2 Action News now knows police confiscated several electronics from the apartment of the Georgia Tech grad student who set himself on fire....

The report also reveals investigators also took three laptops, three cellphones, two jump drives and homemade movies from Akhshabi's apartment.

And the "investigators" who removed the electronic devices? The Joint Terrorism Task Force. But, you know, "no sign of terrorism".

Like I said in the original post below, it could be that this guy was just a numbnuts who liked things that go boom and who, incidentally, is a big fan of the Iranian Islamist regime (and Obamacare, and gun control ... ).

But to say "no sign of terrorism"? That's what the media likes to call a "knee jerk reaction". Only, the funny thing is that no one in the media has an IQ high enough to get this. You see, "knee jerk reaction" is only applied to you wingnuts and 'phobes and not your more enlightened betters on the Left.

----Begin original 02/05/2014 Post (image above in original post)------

Ok, we get a good laugh when some stupid terrorist blows himself up trying to make a bomb. It's funny when it's in, say, Gaza. The old adage goes that tragedy + time = comedy. I'd chime in that proximity can be substituted when time isn't available to make comedy.

Which is why the same thing possibly happening at Georgia Tech isn't quite as funny as when it happens in Gaza .... too close to home:

Federal authorities converged on an apartment building in Midtown Atlanta after a reported fire injured a Georgia Tech student Tuesday. Atlanta Police have identified the student as doctoral student, Saamer Akhshabi.

Late in the afternoon, fire authorities responded to an incident inside an apartment building. The male student reportedly suffered significant burn injuries. Authorities say Akhshabi suffered third degree burns over 90% of his body.

Atlanta Fire discovered "what appeared to be a molotov cocktail along with several other plastic bottles filled with liquid" during their investigation.

A neighbor in the above report claimed that Saamer Akhshabi was from Turkey, but I don't think so. He lists Tonekabon, Iran as his hometown on his FB account. Also, he did his undergrad work in ... Tehran. Here's his online CV:
I am a graduate student advised by Prof. Constantine Dovrolis. I am interested in Internet evolution, evolutionary network modeling, and adaptive video streaming. Before joining Georgia Tech in Fall 2009, I spent four wonderful years at University of Tehran completing my B.Sc. in computer engineering.
Not just 4 years in Tehran, four wonderful years.

Okay, so maybe this is just some numbnuts who was playing around at home for no other reason than he liked to make things that go boom. I get that sentiment. I like things that go boom.

Then again, I've heard Tehran described as a lot of things and the only ones who ever call it wonderful would be the ones on VEVAK's payroll.

The guy doesn't have much to say on his Twitter account, other than the fact that he follows both the current President of Iran and the former "reformist" President Khattami. His YouTube account is a single Iranian film.

Oh, and this would-be bomber is also a big, big fan of Obamacare. He also loves himself some gun control.

Gun control, yes: Molotov cocktail control, hell no!

So, big fan of Iran just happens to blow self up. Also, another story tells us that the feds who raided this guys house today? Joint Terrorism Task Force. Nothing suspicious here. Nevertheless, we'll keep an eye on this one. You know, because we're 'phobes and what not. Thanks to @pspoole

Justice for Shaima Alawadi?

Some quick googling shows that there is nothing on Google News about the trial of Kassim Alhimidi for the murder of his wife Shaima. As you might recall Shaima was murdered, a note found by her body indicating it was a case of Islamophobia. Police later determined the note was a sham and later arrested Mr. Alhimidi in what appears to be a case of domestic violence.

Even Huffpo stopped writing about her Murder in 2012.

But that hasn't stopped the usual Kuffar-o-Phobes from continuing to publish the myth that the murder of Shaima was case of Islamophibia even as her husband stands trial for her murder.

on March 21st, Shaima Alawadi was beat to death inside her home and left next to a note that read, “This is my country. Go back to yours, terrorist.” She was a 32-year-old mother of five who had left her country, Iraq, with her family following the Shiite uprisings, in hopes of finding peace in El Cajon, CA. These two now-lifeless Americans represent the true victims of America’s inherent racism and prejudice.
american-flag-hijab.jpg

This was posted by a willfully ignorant NY Muslim activist Samia Shameem on Jan 31st 2014.

Apparently its not important who really murdered Shaima, because RACISM!

Makes me sick to my stomach to think that one Muslim woman would write off the murder of another in the interest of the cause

Taliban Release Video of Captured Infidel American British Soldier Dog (UPDATED)

UPDATE 2/07/2014: It looks like the dog is British. But it's still an infidel. We pray for its release. Also, if we do manage to get it back a good vet should check for STDs and post-rape trauma.

Thanks to Birbal Dhar for clarifying that. I actually saw the video at the Taliban's Facebook page so didn't see the news reports until later. Yes, the Taliban have a Facebook page.

Actually, I was being literal in the headline. And as funny as it is that these guys are so proud that they were able to kidnap this dog that they actually made a propaganda video about it screaming "Allahu akhbar!", I still feel kind of sorry for the dog.

I'm going to file this post under 'Hostages'. This dog was a soldier, brave and true.

Let's pray the Taliban treat this dog better than they do their human hostages. I kind of doubt it, though. I take solace in the fact that all dogs go to heaven.

Mohammad Zawahiri & Mohammad Morsi Chat About Infidels

Jihad Watch:

This second phone call being longer than the first, Zawahiri took it as an opportunity to congratulate Morsi on his recent presidential victory—which, incidentally, from the start, was portrayed by some as fraudulent—and expressed his joy that Morsi’s presidency could only mean that “all secular infidels would be removed from Egypt.”

Then Zawahiri told Morsi: “Rule according to the Sharia of Allah [or “Islamic law”], and we will stand next to you. Know that, from the start, there is no so-called democracy, so get rid of your opposition.”

They also discussed killing any Copts who opposed their second class status under Sharia and to stop the building of any church.
awahiri: “The teachings of Allah need to be applied and enforced; the secularists have stopped the Islamic sharia, and the response must be a stop to the building of churches.” ( An odd assertion considering how difficult it is for Copts merely to acquire a repair permit for their churches in Egypt.)

Zawahiri also added that “All those who reject the Sharia must be executed, and all those belonging to the secular media which works to disseminate debauchery and helps deviants and Christians to violate the Sharia, must be executed.”

Good News! Mega Jihad Coming Soon!

I guess because the current Jihad hasn't created a big enough mess?

The Army of Muhammad (Tanzim Jaysh Muhammad), one of the Sunni jihadi organizations operating in Syria and which is named after the prophet of Islam, has just called for the creation of an Islamic, jihadi army of at least 800,000 fighters, composed of all Muslim nationalities, from Europe, Africa, and Asia. Its stated purpose would be to depose the military regimes of the Middle East and herald the way to resurrecting the Islamic caliphate, or the creation of one unified Islamic state in the Middle East.

Heartbreak! Christians in Central African Republic Expel Muslims

Via Yahoo the tragedy of Muslims being expelled from the Central African Republic.

BANGUI, Central African Republic (AP) — Thousands of Muslims fled for their lives from the capital of Central African Republic on Friday, with Christian crowds cheering as the truckloads of Muslim families made their way out of town. One man who fell off a truck was subsequently killed and his body mutilated, highlighting the savagery faced by those Muslims who stayed behind.

n recent weeks, angry mobs have set fire to mosques and have brutally killed and mutilated Muslims. On Wednesday, one Muslim suspected of having aided last year's rebellion was attacked for 15 minutes with knives, bricks and feet. Uniformed soldiers then paraded his body through the streets before it was dismembered and set ablaze.

The AP story lends a lot words to the fate of Muslims but only a small mention of the Muslim violence against Christians that preceded the latest violence.
An alliance of Muslim rebel groups from the north united to overthrow the president of a decade last March, though their grievances were political and economic — not religious.

The rebels known as Seleka were aided by Chadian and Sudanese mercenaries, and quickly became bitterly despised by Christians in the capital after the fighters went on looting sprees, raping and killing civilians at random

Here is a description of one of these looting and raping sprees that Muslims carried out.
The Seleka, a predominantly Muslim rebel coalition led by Djotodia, overthrew former President François Bozizé on March 24. A September Human Rights Watch report details the Seleka’s deliberate killing of civilians – including women, children, and the elderly – between March and June and confirms the wanton destruction of more than 1,000 homes, both in the capital, Bangui, and the provinces.
You know, Muslim Raping & Looting is just good clean fun. Expelling them so they can no longer go a killin and rapin is the like totally the worst oppression imaginable!(choke, gag, gasp)

Syrian Rebels Pretty Scared of Assad Regime
But ISIS Really Scares Them Sh*tless

Its Ironic, no? That Syrian Rebels are now fleeing the brutality not of Bashar al-Assad, but of the al-Qaeda and Taliban type groups known as ISIS and al-Nusra. Who they say are even more brutal and repressive than Assad's regime they started with.

In the last three years, rebels fighting President Bashar Assad have taken control of swaths of northern Syria. In some areas, local councils were set up. Activists hoped for a freer future. But renegade jihadists, linked to al-Qaida, have stormed into these "liberated areas" and attacked activists who launched the uprising against Assad's regime.
More details on the Syrian Jihad train wreck here.

US Warns of Explosives in Toothpaste Tubes on Flights to Russia

Things getting dicey...

U.S. homeland security officials are warning airlines flying to Russia to watch out for toothpaste tubes that may be filled with bomb-making materials.

The officials told U.S. news agencies there is no specific threat at this time, and they gave no details on the intelligence that prompted the warnings.

The Winter Olympics open Friday in Sochi, Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Olympics village Wednesday and said that security remains a major concern.

Islamic extremists have threatened to disrupt the games. A jihadist group from Dagestan claimed responsibility for the two suicide attacks that killed 34 people in Volgograd late last year.

Russian media say an Islamic militant suspected of assisting the Volgograd suicide bombers has been killed. Reports say Dzhamaldin Mirzayev died in a shootout with police Wednesday at a house in Dagestan.

Show of hands how many of you think there Won't be a terror related incident...at these games....this is a death match between Putin and his jihadi problem.

John Kerry Lives In La La Land Where Palestinians Are Peaceful

The false and made-up 'fact' that Palestinian terrorists haven't succeeded in killing Israelis last year is proof enough to John Kerry that Palestinians are the real peace partners:

Last Saturday, Secretary of State John Kerry told a security conference in Munich that "last year, not one Israeli was killed by a Palestinian from the West Bank." Kerry's point was that Palestinians have become so peaceful that Israel could afford to gamble a bit in peace negotiations, knowing that its concessions wouldn't boomerang.

The problem with Kerry's assertion, however, is that it's simply not true. In fact, he made it after Israel's Shin Bet security service had put out its annual report of terror attacks against Israelis.According to Shin Bet, terror attacks in the West Bank more than doubled -- from 578 in 2012 to 1,271 in 2013.

Moreover, there were Israeli fatalities, notwithstanding Kerry's bullish statement that "not one Israeli was killed by a Palestinian from the West Bank." In fact, Shin Bet documented Palestinian terror killings in the West Bank last year that left five Israelis dead. Five. Not zero, according to Kerry's fanciful tale.

Either John Kerry is ignorant, a liar, or simply doesn't see Israelis as human.

There is an old Yiddish that says, "A man is not honest simply because
he never had a chance to steal. "

By that same token, a terrorist is not peaceful because he never had the chance to kill. Or in Kerry's case, because he never had the chance to kill more than 5 people.

White House Spokesman: 'Freedom' Is Just A Buzzword

chained-hands.JPG

So, those things about freeing the slaves and ending the holocaust were just overblown reactions to a buzzword?

Reacting to a report that says Obamacare will lower work hours because it lowers the hourly threshold an American must work in order to obtain health care, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney called "freedom" a "buzzword" on Tuesday.

"It's not anything but an added choice that they have that allows them more freedom, to use a certain buzzword, more choice," he said.

A cut in hours will force give people the freedom to choose whether to work harder for Obamacare or starve to death:

Jason Furman, Obama's chair of the Council of Economic Advisors, told the press in the same session that American workers choosing to work less was a net positive, comparing them to 95-year-olds on Social Security.

"This is a choice on the part of workers, and I have no doubt that if, for example, we got rid of Social Security and Medicare, there are many 95-year-olds that would choose to work more to avoid potentially starving or to give themselves an opportunity to get healthcare," he said.

Meanwhile in Jerusalem

The Palestinians continue their mostly peaceful inner struggle.

Four East Jerusalem Palestinians were indicted Wednesday for planning to carry out a large-scale shooting attack at a popular event hall in the city. All four suspects, aged 19-21, were charged with conspiracy to aid an enemy in wartime

According to the indictment, filed with the Jerusalem District Court and made public Wednesday, two of the four suspects, residents of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, planned to dress as ultra-Orthodox Jews, enter a wedding or other event at Jerusalem’s “Nof” hall in the Bait Vagan neighborhood concealing firearms beneath their clothes, then open fire at the guests.

Hat Tip: Legal Insurrection.

Saudi Arabia Regime Change? Yes We Can!

So, you know, Saudi Arabia should evolve, become a democracy and relegate its royal family to figurehead status. Kind of like England did with the queen.

It would be a much more fair regime to the people of Saudi Arabia than its current Islamo-fascist dictatorship.

According to Saudi law I'm now a terrorist for saying that and they reserve the right to chop my head off for even suggesting such a thing.

Like saying maybe, "The Islamo-fascist slime bucket Saudi rulers who look the other way while billions of Saudi dollars go to al-Qaeda and other terrorists NEED TO GO."

Or

"lets face it, the Saudi royal family only opposes al-Qaeda to the extent that it threatens themselves. When it threatens us. Meh."

That's now a crime in Saudi and they threaten to prosecute anyone, even foreigners, who break their silly rules.

Fatwa?

Update: I'm upping the ante by dubbing the Saudi King Abdullah bin Needledick Al Saud.

Heartache: Taliban Going Bankrupt as Wealthy Saudi Donors Send all their Cash to Syria

Call it an unforeseen positive externality from the mess that Syria has become:

The Arabs’ departure is a crippling blow. Support from private Saudi donors has been crucial to Afghanistan’s insurgents ever since the war against the Soviets in the 1980s—many years before the rise of Mullah Mohammed Omar and his armed followers. But interest in Afghanistan has faded among hard-liners in the Gulf region. Osama bin Laden is dead; most of Al Qaeda’s surviving operatives have fled the constant threat of U.S. drone attacks, and the Taliban never really shared bin Laden’s desire to take his holy war worldwide. Now global jihad and its Arab backers have moved on to more promising arenas, like Iraq and Syria....

n the tea shop, Yaseen lingers in the cold air. Anything is better than going outside, where the weather is downright bitter. “We waited, but we never heard from the men in Quetta,” he says. “We were ashamed to face our creditors. It was ridiculous. While we went out hunting for Americans to fight, we were hiding from our neighbors.”

That's some funny stuff right there.

Guys Flying al Qaeda Flags & Saddam Photos Don't Understand why US isn't Helping Them

So I'm watching pts. 1 & 2 of Vice Media's report on how the Syrian war is spilling over into Lebanon's second city, Tripoli. And amid the chaos of morons firing their AKs into the air among crowds of children (these people have never heard of Isaac Newton?) one of the leaders of the Sunni militia aks the US for weapons and aid.

want-us-help-tripoli-lebanon.JPG
Sunni militia leader in Lebanon asks for US help

This same guy has this poster up over his meat shop.

saddam-hussein-tripoli-lebanon.JPG
Saddam Hussein poster in Tripoli, Lebanon

And as he leads the reporter through the streets of Tripoli here's what you see.

al-qaeda-flag-tripoli-lebanon.JPG
al Qaeda Flag over Tripoli, Lebanon

And these posters.

al-qaeda-flags-tripoli-lebanon2.JPG
al Qaeda posters in Tripoli, Lebanon

The translation you see in the image above talking about gangs killing children is not a reference to the al Qaeda posters on the wall. It's a reference to Syrian supporting militia across town.

And yet, this guy doesn't understand why the US isn't sending him weapons? That's a real head-scratcher right there.

Now, there are two more episodes of this short series from Vice Media, so maybe the reporter will say something in the next two episodes. But even though clear signs of al Qaeda support are everywhere the crew goes there isn't one mention of it in pts. 1 & 2. And we wonder why so many people are unclear on why US intervention in these cesspools in unwise?

Also: Arab Spring!

Someone ought to nominate Obama for a Nobel Peace Prize for "resetting" relations with the Arab world. That guy is fantastic!

Executions Up Under 'Moderate' Iranian President

As long time readers know, I find the word 'moderate' particularly annoying when applied to Muslims. Most so-called 'moderate' Muslims would be way outside two standard deviations of normal on an American values scale. There are liberal Muslims who do fit perfectly within our secular and tolerant values, and it's to these we should be reaching out to, not to the so-called 'moderates'.

Anyway, here's the story. It's not that I have a problem with executions per se. It's just that in Iran they execute you for things like apostasy, homosexuality, and political dissent. And, yes, the guy in power is more 'moderate' than the last guy. This is what 'moderation' looks like in the Iranian context:

After Amnesty International’s claim that 33 people were hanged in a single week last month, the top human rights office at the United Nations noted that “28 women and a number of political prisoners” were among those executed in 2013. The office also said the killings were based on convictions that do not meet the “most serious crimes” threshold under international law.

“The persistent execution of individuals for exercising their rights to freedom of assembly, association and affiliation to minority groups contravenes universally accepted human rights principles and norms,” said Ahmed Shaheed, U.N. special rapporteur for the situation of human rights in Iran.

An analysis of statistics compiled by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center shows that in the six months since Mr. Rouhani took office, 399 people — or 66.5 per month — have been executed. In the 31 months prior, a total of 1,457 — 47 per month — were put to death.

Al Qaeda Now Requiring Parking Decals in Syria

So I'm watching this video of former German rapper "Deso Dogg" (now calling himself Abu Talha al-Almani) delivering aid in Syria on behalf of al Qaeda's al Nusrah Front when I noticed that the car he's driving has ... well, just check it out.

desso-dog-al-qaeda-window-sticker2.JPG

I suppose you have to be pretty high on the al Qaeda chain of command to merit a parking sticker.

Muslim Brotherhood Thanks US for Alliance in Jihad

Obviously, we don't see ourselves as involved in jihad in Syria. We see ourselves involved in helping groups oust a Baathist dictator who openly supports Hezbollah, the second deadliest terror group on the planet (in terms of US casualties). Of course, why we do things is often lost when those things we do also advance the cause of the first deadliest terror group on the planet, al Qaeda.

So, of course Salaafi preachers are grateful for helping violent Islamists in Syria (even if inadvertently) and of course they want us to do more. I don't think the perceptions of the Muslim world are sufficient cause to change US policy. The truth of the matter is that no matter what we do, the Muslim world will hate us. So, we shouldn't be doing anything at all.

All problems in the world aren't our problems.

Popcorn Levels: Critical -- al Qaeda Central Disowns Syrian Affiliate

Man, life is good. First, Seattle takes Denver to the woodshed and now this? Does anyone have that emergency number they print on the Cialis bottle handy?

Al Qaeda’s top leadership moved publicly on Monday to sever the organization’s relationship with its Syrian affiliate, which has been widely blamed in recent months for stoking rebel infighting in Syria’s civil war.....

According to a translation of the statement quoted by The Associated Press, Al Qaeda condemned the rebel infighting in Syria. “We distance ourselves from the sedition taking place among the mujahedeen factions and of the forbidden blood shed by any faction,” the statement was quoted as saying.

Angered by what they called the arrogant behavior of fighters loyal to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and the organization’s tendency to commandeer resources, other Syrian groups began to violently clash with it starting in late 2013.

In related news, a prominent pro-al Qaeda Saudi cleric who now lives in Syria has also disowned the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

129 Arrested at Mosque in Kenya

Wait, they preach violent jihad in a ... mosque? That's unpossible!

Police official Simon Simiyu told a Mombasa court on Monday the authorities plan to charge the 129 men with "being members of a terrorist group, namely al Shabaab".

It granted his request to keep them in detention for five days more for authorities to finish their investigations.

Police stormed the Mussa mosque in Majengo on Sunday after a tip that Muslim youths were being radicalized there by Islamists supporting al Shabaab, Somali militants allied with al Qaeda.

Security sources say the mosque has been at the heart of al Shabaab's attempts to radicalize disillusioned young Kenyan Muslims in recent years. Officers came under fire as they burst into the mosque, said police who seized laptops, DVDs and black banners emblazoned with jihadi slogans there.

And how did local Muslims react to the raid? They rioted, of course.

Taliban Suspected in Grenade Attack on Movie Theater

No claims of responsibility but the local Taliban thought there were too many exposed elbows being shown at the local den of vice. You know, the movie theater:

At least four people were killed and 31 wounded late Sunday when unidentified attackers hurled two grenades at a cinema in northwest Pakistan, police and medics said.

The attack on the Picture House cinema in Peshawar, the region's main city, took place as some 90 people were watching a late night show of the film 'Ziddi Pakhtun' (Stubborn Pushtun), police said.

"At least four people have been killed and 31 injured. Attackers hurled two grenades and fled the scene," Faisal Mukhtar, a senior police official, told Agence France Presse.

A stampede following the blasts was responsible for many of the injuries, Mukhtar added.

Thanks to Rantburg who explains why this particular area of Pakistan gets a lot of these types of attacks.

Hey, There are Worse Reasons to Root For the Seahawks than that one of their Cheerleaders is an Air Force Officer

Okay, I really have no skin in this game. I was going to root for the Broncos for on other reason than I have a buddy rooting for the Seahawks. But then, this:

aliciaquaco-cheerleader-air-force.jpg
Alicia Quaco works at two jobs. Nothing surprising about that; many Americans have a “day job”, and another job to help make ends meet.

But Alicia’s combination is a little unusual – probably unique. Her day job is working for Uncle Sam in the military – she’s a first lieutenant in the US Air Force.

And, what does she do in the evenings? She goes to training practice for her second job as a member of the cheerleading squad for the Seattle Seahawks!

Yeah, that seals the deal.

Unless the Broncos have a cheerleader with a purple heart, I'm sticking with Seattle. Thanks to CDR M
