!!!! Joseph "Yousef al Khattab" Cohen (of Revolution Muslim) Pleads Guilty in Fed Court!!!

Joseph "Yousef al-Khattab" Cohen calls for nuking Israel

OMFG!!!! Joey "Yousef al Khattab" Cohen, one of the founder of the now defunct Revolution Muslim website, has pleaded guilty of making online threats!

Praise Allah!

Longtime readers of The Jawa Report -- and now we're talking way, way back -- will remember Joey and his Revolution Muslim website as being one of the key mouthpieces for Islamist radicalism in the US. The website long denounced the US and praised the violent Islamists we were fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq as freedom fighters. On more than one occasion the website praised Osama bin Laden. They even praised Nidal Hasan after the homegrown terrorist had committed mass murder at Ft. Hood.

Khattab mocks the victims of 9/11

Many former authors and readers of the website have been convicted in terrorism related cases. Those include the other founder of the website Jesse "Younes Abdullah" Morton who was convicted of threatening the creators of South Park and Zachary "Abu Talhah al-Amrikee" Chesser for attempting to join the al Qaeda linked al Shabaab in Somalia. Others affiliated with the website and its owners include Carlos Almonte and Mohamed Hamoud Alessa, both of whom were also convicted of attempting to join al Shabaab, but the former is more famously known for his "Death to all Juice" sign.

Another little known connection between the Revolution Muslim crowd and terror is that it is very likely that Nidal Hasan himself was a reader of the website. Duane Reasoner, a confidant of Nidal Hasan in the months leading up to Ft. Hood, was a fan of Revolution Muslim who had sometimes commented on the website and on the group's YouTube page. Evidence suggests that Hasan himself also was a registered user of the Revolution Muslim website. The screenshot above suggests just that as Nidal Hasan was known for using the "Slave of Allah" slang to describe himself in other contexts.

But these are just a few anecdotes. Just how deep were the connections between the Revolution Muslim website and homegrown terrorists and Islamists radicals in the US? A 2010 report concluded that nearly 1/3 of all domestic terror cases in the US at that time had links to al-Khattab and Revolution Muslim.

But my glee at Joey's conviction is more than just the general one of a patriot happy that a supporter of our enemies is going to jail, it's personal. Al-Khattab and myself have what you'd call a history. If Samir Khan -- a now deceased member of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula who was also personally acquainted with Cohen -- was my first online nemesis, then Joey "Yousef al-Khattab" Cohen was my second. In fact, Khattab first came to my attention because long before Samir Khan fled the US for the comfort of Anwar al-Awlaki's car (where he was droned) he had Khattab blogrolled on his now defunct Inshallahshaheed site.

Yousef Cohen quoted in al Qaeda's English language magazine Inspire, edited by former friend Samir Khan

Here is a screencap from one of Khattab's early videos. In it, Yousef makes light of Daniel Pearl's murder by al Qaeda. Yes, those are Tusken Raiders (Sand People) as al Qaeda. Joey got the idea from a post I did way back when I started this website. He was not only provoking supporters of Pearl and enemies of al Qaeada everywhere, he was provoking me personally. Notice the Jawa.

Image from a video made by Khattab mocking Daniel Pearl

We even talked on the phone once way back when we were doing a podcast. You can thank Vinnie for setting that one up.

The two of us went back and forth for years until, one by one, friends and fans of Revolution Muslim began to go to jail. Eventually Khattab fled the US and landed in Morocco where he stayed for a few years. He eventually came back to the US, enrolled in college, and declared himself a changed man. He even went on CNN to talk about his "former" radicalism. CNN described this new Khattab as a "moderate".

Except, as we showed here, he was lying. He still was a radical. He still wanted to do things like nuke Israel.

Khattab the "moderate" reaffirms his stance on nuking Israel

The history is too long and storied to go on in the time I have today. Let's leave it at that and move on to the story. But first, this photo summary of what Khattab thought of me:

An image Khattab posted at his "The Jew Report" threatening me

A New Jersey man who prosecutors say used his Islamic Web site to advocate violence against those whose ideals he found offensive to his religion pleaded guilty Wednesday to using the Internet to put another in fear of death or injury, admitting that he posted material supportive of various terrorist attacks and hinted that his followers should target a Jewish organization in Brooklyn.

Yousef Mohamid al-Khattab, 45, an American-born man with dual citizenship in Israel, told a federal judge in Virginia that he wrote the posts “out of my stupidity.” Yet he vigorously disagreed with prosecutors’ assertion that he intended to incite violence.

“I never intended to physically hurt anybody,” Khattab said. “I think they could prove it, but that’s not my intention, Your Honor.”

And that, my friends, is what they call grade-A bullshit! If Khattab never intended to hurt anybody, then why did he inspire so many people to join terrorist groups? If he never meant to hurt anybody, then why did he post the names and addresses of Jewish activists in NY?

[UPDATE: Oh, yeah, we have a screenshot thanks to Howie]

Screenshot of post in which Khattab urged retribution against Jews in NY for Israeli military actions against Palestinian terrorists

It's the same thing his co-founder Jesse "Younes Abdullah Muhammad" Morton claimed when he was arrested for threatening Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Morton and accomplice Zachary Chesser made threatening statements coupled with directions and maps to Parker and Stone's house!

Having followed Khattab's antics for years and talked with him on the phone there are a lot of words that come to mind when describing him: traitor, jerk, cad, Islamist, etc -- but stupid is not one of them.

Joey knew what he was doing when he posted the names and addresses of those he opposed. One of his fans was responsible for the largest terror attack on US soil since 9/11 ... what did he think was going to happen?

So, goodbye Yousef, I can't say you'll be missed. He faces up to five years in jail and I hope the judge sentences him to the max. If he does, he'll have five hears to contemplate where his life went so wrong -- from Judaism to Islamic fundamentalism. He'll also have five years to watch out for his cornhole.

And on that note, we'll end this post with yet another, possibly more apt photo, of Khattab contemplating just that.

Yousef al Khattab contemplates his cornhole

UPDATE: After reading Youseff's Facebook feed I realized that he is not in jail while he awaits the sentencing. He's a free man (for now).

So, we'll have at least one more post on Yousef. I'll save MC Hammer for that one.

Ministry of Boobies: Spooky Edition

Somehow given my life experience I suspect this lady isn't the first to find herself scantily clad is a graveyard. But this time its for a good cause.

A Polish photographer did not break the law by conducting a photo shoot with a half-naked model at the Jewish cemetery in Checiny, Polish lawmakers held this week after a complaint was filed.

The city prosecutor in the Polish city of Kielce decided this week that Polish photographer Lukasz Szczygielski did not intend to insult the religious sensibilities of the cemetery of the Jewish community and that his main objective was art when he photographed a topless model at the Jewish cemetery in Checiny in August, TVN 24 reported.

At the time, Szczygielski explained that he wanted to draw attention to the neglected cemetery in the southern Poland town.

All the controversial images are here

Also a NSFW set of Szczygielski's work is here. Tough job that photography. Anyway feel free to surf through those, because Halloween is spooky and nothing calms your irrational fear like boobies.

Israel Attacks Syrian Air Base?

Ok, somebody attacked an anti-aircraft battery at a Syrian air base this morning. If Israel did it, they're being tight lipped about their involvement. Reports from Arab media are that the attack came from the sea, but the same reports claim that Israeli fighters were seen over Lebanon en route, so make of that what you will. These are Arab media reports, so expect a high level of confusion wrapped in propaganda wrapped in another layer of lies.

But, still, Israel isn't denying involvement .... yet. And if it was Israel, then what does it mean for the war effort overall? The Israelis are between a rock and a hard place here. They hate Assad, who supports both Hezbollah and as a conduit for Iranian money to Hamas, but Assad at least is predictable. And the rebels? Well, we know how that is working out.

So, what's the play here? This may simply be Israel trying to level the playing field a bit. Over the past two months momentum has shifted away from the rebels towards Assad. Maybe Israel just wants to help the rebels drag this thing on for a bit longer?

Then again, they may have weighed both sides and decided the rebels were the lesser of two evils here. JPost:

A Syrian air defense base near the port city of Latakia was completely destroyed on Thursday morning in a missile attack from the sea, Arab media reported.

According to reports emanating from the rebels seeking to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad, a large explosion occurred near the army base in Latakia on Wednesday night. Witness posted on Twitter that the explosion happened near coastal city Jableh, 30 kilometers south of Latakia, a stronghold of Assad's Alawites.

We'll try to update if and when there's more to know.

Obama's Filibuster Proof Democrat Majority Served America a Sh*t Sandwich

Now they ask, "Would you like some mustard on that?".

Obamacare is the product of a brief moment of total Democratic dominance in Washington. Key to that dominance was a 60-seat, filibuster-proof Senate majority. It wasn't a sure bet for Democrats; despite victories in 2008, the party's hopes for that majority depended on the defection of formerly Republican Sen. Arlen Specter and the outcome of a contested race in Minnesota. After a controversial recount, Al Franken became the 60th Democratic senator on July 7, 2009, giving Democrats an unassailable edge.

...But that was long enough to pass Obamacare. Now, Obama is suffering the consequences of relying on just one party. When problems arose with his signature legislative achievement, he had no Republican support to help him out. None.

Yes mustard! We'd like lots and lots of mustard, thank you very much.

Got enough for all 93 million of us?

Rand Paul: Cut Off Aid to Countries that Persecute Christians

It's one of those obvious ideas that should be a no brainer but which will go nowhere because ... not giving money to Muslim countries is racist or something:

"We spend over a million dollars to Pakistan. There is a (Christian) woman on death row for blasphemy. She said she drew water from a Muslim well and they beat her and charged her with blaspheming. She said she just tried to drink from a Muslim's well. The president shouldn't send money. No more money to countries killing Christians, period."
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he meant we spend over a billion dollars to Pakistan, not millions, but you get the idea.

I'd go further than this and cut off religious visas to people from countries which didn't offer reciprocity. In other words, no more Saudi clerics coming to the US so long as Saudi Arabia doesn't allow US clerics over there.

Thanks to Lou.

Two Bombs Explode in Makhachkala Dagestan

Islamic terrorists set two truck bombs in Dagestan today.

Two people has been killed, and at least 15 more have been hospitalized after a double explosion hit Makhachkala, the capital of Russia’s restive Dagestan region, according to the country's Emergencies Ministry.

The attack occurred outside two adjacent liquor stores on one of the city's liveliest streets. It appears to have been set off by remotely-activated charges, and fire appears to have spread to neighboring stores.

Of note is that Boston terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev spend a lot of time in Makhachkala.
As children, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar lived in Tokmok in Kyrgyzstan. In 2001, the family moved to Makhachkala, Dagestan, in the Russian Federation.

His father said that Tamerlan was with him in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, for six months and that they had done ordinary things, such as visiting relatives. His father also said that he and Tamerlan visited Chechnya twice, to see relatives there and to receive Tamerlan's new Russian passport.[18][98] While Tsarnaev arrived in Russia in January 2012, however, he only arrived in Dagestan around March, and his father arrived there in May...

But I'm sure whoever bombed Makhachkala today wasn't radicalized.

Islamist Terror Attack at Tiananmen Square Kills 5

An image from al Qaeda's Inspire magazine encouraging readers to use trucks to drive into crowds of people

The major caveat here is that this is the Chinese government calling the attackers "terrorists", so the-boy-who-cried-wolf rule applies.

Of course, the moral of that story is that sometimes there really is a wolf.

And, contrary to popular mythology, China isn't a homogeneous country. It's not a nation state: it's an empire. An empire where the Han majority rules with an iron fist over dozens of other ethnic minorities. And some of those minorities are Muslim:

The fiery car blaze at Tiananmen Square that killed five and injured dozens was a premeditated terrorist attack, Chinese police said on Wednesday after making five arrests in connection with the case.

The five suspects arrested, as well as the driver and two passengers that died in the blaze, were all identified with names that suggested they were ethnic Uighurs, a predominantly Muslim ethnic minority from China's restive far-western province of Xinjiang.

Police also found flags with jihadist and extremist religious messages, appearing to support early reports that the apparent suicide attack may have been a particularly audacious act of religious and political protest at the symbolic heart of the capital.

I'll also remind our readers that al Qaeda has urged its sympathizers to use low-tech terror weapons such as vehicles to kill and maim. The image at the top of the page is from al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's Inspire magazine. I don't know exactly what jihadi material was found with the suspects, but if I were a betting man I'd put a few dollars on Inspire magazine.

South Yorkshire Police said he had just accepted a new job as an IT consultant.

Group Behind Mumbai Massacre Openly Raising Money in Pakistan

In keeping with today's theme: why Pakistan needs to be nuked:

Pakistan’s government appears to have relaxed its enforcement of a 5-year-old United Nations ban on the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization, which incurred the sanctions because of its militants’ alleged involvement in the November 2008 rampage in Mumbai, India, that killed 166 people.

Two of Lashkar’s front organizations openly raised money this week as the Muslim festival of Eid al Adha got underway. No authorities made any effort to stop them – not a surprise, perhaps, because the groups have been known to work with the government when natural disaster strikes....

Lashkar’s black-and-white striped flag was clearly displayed on banners flying just 200 yards outside the residential suburb of Korang Town. Emblazoned across the banners were the addresses and phone numbers of mosques affiliated with Lashkar’s Jama’at-ud-Da’wah proselytizing sister organization. The U.N. banned the Jama’at, too, after the Mumbai attacks, and Pakistan took similar action that same day, Dec. 11, 2008.

The banners advertised a timely service: animals for sacrifice at a price much lower than one would find in local livestock markets. Goats, Pakistan’s favorite source of meat, were available for 13,000 rupees – about $124 – about half the market price.

The gist is that Pakistan only cracked down on the terrorist organization so long as the cease-fire with India held. Now that the border dispute has become hot again, Pakistan willlook the other way since the terror group generally targets India.

Which, in my book, makes the Pakistani government itself responsible for mass murders like what happened in Mumbai, in 2008. As a refresher, recall that Lashkar-e-Taiba militants killed 156 innocents and wounded over 500 more.

Obama's Facebook, Twitter PWND by Syrian eHadis

This is funny for a lot of reasons:

President Barack Obama's social media updates were temporarily hijacked Monday due to an apparent exploit in the URL shortener his team uses to promote Organizing for Action, an organization that promotes Obamacare.

Modified OFA links included in Obama's Twitter and Facebook updates, though now corrected, directed visitors to a 24-minute "Syria facing terrorism" video for a short period of time. The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) has claimed responsibility for the exploit. The virtual army of hackers also said that it had accessed Obama's campaign e-mail accounts.

Report: Afghanistan Supporting Pakistani Taliban, Pakistan Supporting Afghan Taliban

For years I've been trying to start a war between India and Pakistan. The simple logic being that Pakistan ought not to exist, and I'd rather India nuke them than us. The problem with this is that so many Indians would die in the process. I like Indians.

But maybe I had that all wrong. Maybe we should give nukes to Afghanistan? Afghanistan is gone, Pakistan is gone. Win-win:

According to the article, which cites unnamed US and Afghan officials, the government of President Hamid Karzai is courting the Pakistani Taliban, who are close to what's left of Al Qaeda in region, as a way to counterbalance the Pakistani military's support for the Afghan Taliban...

But the Times story says the actual purpose of Mehsud's visit was to promise aid to the Pakistani Taliban in their fight. It's a cheap way for Afghanistan to project force and influcence inside Pakistan and, in theory, make Pakistan more amenable to Afghan positions at future negotiations.

Now, not content to be merely the target of a proxy war, the Afghan government decided to recruit proxies of its own by seeking to aid the Pakistan Taliban in their fight against Pakistan’s security forces, according to Afghan officials. And they were beginning to make progress over the past year, they say, before the American raid exposed them.

Okay, so we don't give them nukes. Worst case scenario: Afghan and Pakistani Taliban are so busy attacking Afghanistan and Pakistan that they lose interest in killing us.

Again: win-win.

Yeah, I know it won't play out exactly like that.

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one......

Shocking News! Obama Administration Nixed Exemption in Affordable Care Act That Allowed You to Keep Your Plan

Obama lied your policy died:

The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date -- the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example -- the policy would not be grandfathered.

Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, “40 to 67 percent” of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, “the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range.”

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

And who was in charge making sure Obama's promise was an empty one? Obama's hand picked Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,” said Robert Laszewski, of Health Policy and Strategy Associates, a consultant who works for health industry firms. So even if we pass the law, we still don't know what's in it, do we? Because Obama randomly makes changes to the, either by Presidential Whim or by making sure his hand picked cabinet issues regulations that effectively rewrite the law that Congress passed.

The Lost Return of the Jedi Laserdisk

Back in the day I worked for organized crime AKA an amusement company. Anyway I once dropped a Laserdisk for Dragon's Lair. It rolled on the edge like a penny, I was able to use my palms to save it before it ever touched flat on the floor. Which of course would have ruined the disk and put an end to my employment and my free Galaga fringe benefit.

But I digress.

For Star Wars fans, Christmas has come early. Last week, never-before-seen footage from Return of the Jedi appeared on Facebook, posted by a fan who bought an old LaserDisc that Lucasfilm created back in the '80s to showcase an editing system.

The fan has posted nine videos to a Facebook page so far. Most are alternate takes of well-known scenes, such as when Luke Skywalker visits Jedi Master Yoda for the last time. There's also a minute-long clip of R2-D2 repairing Luke's X-Wing fighter on Dagobah.

All the clips are here.

Shocking News! Blasphemy Blood Thirst Continues in Pakistan

Sharia Law is totally incompatible with Human rights.

STANBUL (Morning Star News) – Police and a banned Islamic extremist group in Lahore, Pakistan are searching for a young Christian accused of blasphemy – with the extremist group calling for his death – after he sought to correct misconceptions about Christianity in a Muslim book, sources said.

Sources close to Adnan Masih, 26, said he believes that if he turns himself in, he will be killed by either the Islamic extremist Jamaat ud Dawa (JuD) or the Pakistani judicial system, which makes blasphemy against Islam’s prophet punishable by death. They said Masih denies having written anything against Islam or its prophet, Muhammad, when he scribbled in a Muslim book he found in a glassworks shop where his brother works.

But you'll notice Jamaat ud Dawa isn't too upset about libel or blasphemy against Isa (Jesus) written in their books. For them blasphemy is a one way street.

White House Refuses Smithsonian Request For Armenian Rug Display

Nothing like denying history to avoid hurt feelings.

The rug was woven by orphans in the 1920s and formally presented to the White House in 1925. A photograph shows President Calvin Coolidge standing on the carpet, which is no mere juvenile effort, but a complicated, richly detailed work that would hold its own even in the largest and most ceremonial rooms.

If you can read a carpet's cues, the plants and animals depicted on the rug may represent the Garden of Eden, which is about as far removed as possible from the rug’s origins in the horrific events of 1915, when the fracturing and senescent Ottoman Empire began a murderous campaign against its Armenian population. Between 1 million and 1.5 million people were killed or died of starvation, and others were uprooted from their homes in what has been termed the first modern and systematic genocide. Many were left orphans, including the more than 100,000 children who were assisted by the U.S.-sponsored Near East Relief organization, which helped relocate and protect the girls who wove the "orphan rug." It was made in the town of Ghazir, now in Lebanon, as thanks for the United States’ assistance during the genocide.

There was hope that the carpet, which has been in storage for almost 20 years, might be displayed Dec. 16 as part of a Smithsonian event that would include a book launch for Hagop Martin Deranian's "President Calvin Coolidge and the Armenian Orphan Rug." But on Sept. 12, the Smithsonian scholar who helped organize the event canceled it, citing the White House’s decision not to loan the carpet. [...]

Last week, the White House issued a statement: "The Ghazir rug is a reminder of the close relationship between the peoples of Armenia and the United States. We regret that it is not possible to loan it out at this time."

That leaves the rug, and the sponsors of the event, in limbo, a familiar place for Armenians. Neither Ara Ghazarians of the Armenian Cultural Foundation nor Levon Der Bedrossian of the Armenian Rugs Society can be sure if the event they had helped plan was canceled for the usual political reason: fear of negative reaction from Turkey, which has resolutely resisted labeling the events at the end of the Ottoman Empire a genocide. But both suspect it might have been.

Christian Manhunt In Willful Ignorance Case

A Christian man is the target of a manhunt because he dared to correct several mistakes about the Bible:

Police and a banned Islamic extremist group in Lahore, Pakistan are searching for a young Christian accused of blasphemy – with the extremist group calling for his death – after he sought to correct misconceptions about Christianity in a Muslim book, sources said. [...]

A source close to Masih said the evangelist and tutor noticed several false statements about the Bible and about Jesus, which he highlighted with a marker and corrected by answering with verses from the Bible. The next day Masih found a case had been registered against him for blasphemy under the Pakistan Penal Code’s Section 295, parts A, B and C – for allegedly outraging religious feelings, defiling the Koran and defaming Muhammad respectively.

Long story short, it's a crime to hurt a Muslim's feeling. Even if you only stated facts.

The accuser also wants Masih's brother arrested as well, for the crime of being the brother of a blasphemer.

Coming to a city near you.

al-Nusra Terrorist Leader Abu Mohammad al-Golani Reported Killed

I'd like to thank Syria for being al-Qaeda's Vietnam.

Jabhat al-Nusra is headed by a man who uses the nom de guerre of Abu Mohammad al-Golani (Golani is a reference to Syria’s Golan Heights, occupied by Israel). The U.S. Treasury Department has also slapped financial sanctions against two men it believes are senior leaders in the militia group: Maysar Ali Musa Abdallah al-Juburi and Anas Hasan Khattab. Recent media reports also mention one Mustafa Abdel-Latif, also known as Abu Anas al-Sahaba, as the new “emir” or leader of Jabhat al-Nusra. A Jordanian national, al-Sahaba is the brother-in-law of the late al-Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Mousab al-Zarqawi. Abu Adnan would not disclose any information about the men named by the Treasury Department and said al-Golani remained the Jabhat leader. Al-Golani’s real identity remains a well-kept secret, even to the leaders of other similar Islamist militant groups in Syria. At a recent meeting of the leaders of the Salafi groups Ahrar al-Sham, Suqoor al-Sham, Liwa al-Islam, Jabhat al-Nusra and several other units to discuss the creation of a Syria-wide pan-Islamist coalition, al-Golani kept his face covered throughout the proceedings, according to a participant. He was introduced by the Jabhat leaders in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo, who vouched for his identity, but al-Golani offered no information about himself. “He knew everything about each one of us,” the participant said, “how long we’d been in the fight, our personal backgrounds, how long we’d spent in prison [before the revolution], everything.”
Not that I really dig Assad or anything but the dead al-Qaeda are really starting to pile up. I'm failing to see a downside to that.

Hat Tip: Laura.

Nigeria Slaughters Boko Haram

Rusty's posts were such a letdown, I mean Iran with nukes, pirates, the western world all spying and making war in themselves rather than bloodthirsty terrorists.

Well turns out that one country still has its priorities strait, ironically its Nigeria.

- More than 70 members of the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram have been killed during a Nigerian military operation in the northeastern state of Borno, an Army spokesman told CNN Friday.

The military "remains on the offensive," according to Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who said the operation began Thursday and was continuing Friday.

That's right 70 dead terrorist savages and more on the way.

See, don't you feel better now? I know I do.

No remorse baby!

Thank You Edward Snowden: EU to Stop Sharing Terrorist Financial Data w/ US

Are some of you going to still claim this guy is a "hero"?

The European Parliament voted to suspend its Terrorist Finance Tracking Program (TFTP) agreement with the US, in response to the alleged tapping of EU citizens' bank data held by the Belgian company SWIFT.

The agreement granted the US authorities access to bank data for terror-related investigations but leaked documents made public by whistleblower Edward Snowden allege that the global bank transfer network was the target of wider US surveillance.

MEPs also want to launch a full inquiry into the alleged spying.

The good news here is that the European Parliament has as much power to enforce its will on EU member countries as the UN. Which is to say: none at all.

Contrary to fans of the World War Z movie, the UN has neither its own navy nor anything like the sort of prestige which by simply mentioning that you work for the Special Assistant to the Secretary General suddenly everybody drops everything they're doing and makes you the top priority.

So, maybe this is all just bluster by the politicians for the morons back home. But, then again, when the politicritters in Brussels start whining their kindred spirits in London and Rome aren't usually that far behind them.

Iran May be Close to Nuke Bomb Capability

Remember when we were told not too worry too much about Iran having nuclear ambitions because they were at least five years away from the capability of developing a nuclear weapon? When was that again? Oh, yeah, five years ago:

Iran could produce enough weapons-grade uranium to build a nuclear bomb in as little as a month, according to a new analysis by one of the USA's top nuclear experts. This assessment comes as the White House invited Senate staffers to a briefing on negotiations with Iran as it tries to persuade Congress not to proceed with a bill to toughen sanctions against Iran.

The report by the Institute for Science and International Security stated, "Shortening breakout times have implications for any negotiation with Iran. An essential finding is that they are currently too short and shortening further."

I'm actually not all that sure what we should be doing with Iran. The US media almost never reports it, but trade sanctions are really hurting the Islamic Republic. Just yesterday media reports began circulating the family of Mahmoud Ostad-Mohammad, a world renown playwright, was blaming his death on lack of medical supplies due to the sanctions.

It's Iraq in the 1990s all over again. I predict that in the coming months American lefties will begin to be outraged at the sanctions "murdering children". Let's hope Kerry doesn't say something stupid that he'll regret which will be used by crazed conspiracy theorist as "proof" that America doesn't care about killing children. But John Kerry's intellect is a 40w lightbulb to Madeline Albright's 60w, and look how she crammed her foot in her mouth.

It's funny how nearly a decade of increasingly harsh sanctions against Iraq have been lost down the memory hole. It's as if most Americans remember the lead up to the Iraq war as peace and harmony until one day Bush-Hitler woke up and decided to kill some Arabs.

Pirates Take 2 Americans Hostage off Nigerian Coast

The taking of foreign oil workers hostage off the Nigerian coast is not a new thing. In fact, just 10 years ago if you said the word "hostage" you'd think either Nigeria or Columbia, not Somalia. So, a return to the bad old days?

The good news is Nigerian pirates are generally all about the ransom. No beheading videos with screams of Allahu akbar here. Sure, some of the pirates are Muslim, but that's not the motivating force. Money is.

The bad news is that many of these oil companies take out insurance policies which cover ransoms. No joke. So, the pirates often do get a payout.

Now, I know this will come as a surprise to most liberals, but when an action is rewarded then that action tends to increase. It's why 4 out of 10 kids today are born bastards and social security disability roles have doubled. In this case, the pirates learn the important lesson that: hostage taking pays:

Two Americans were kidnapped by pirates after their ship was attacked off Nigeria's coast, U.S. officials said Thursday.

The U.S.-flagged oil supply vessel C-Retriever was targeted in the Gulf of Guinea early Wednesday, Reuters reported.

Maritime news website gCaptain reported that the ship's captain and its chief engineer had been abducted.

As always, we demand their immediate and unconditional release.

David Brooks Compares 60's Hippies to Tea Party

Yeah yeah David, you statist dick face, we know the 60's counter culture was a failure, mainly because the hippies decided they really liked money. You know living in a commune with no running water, after a while it gets old and very smelly.

So they became greed is good Yuppies. Many of their original causes fading away in favor of 8 balls of coke, Polyester Suits and Disco.

BUT, being descended from hippies myself, no one can deny the influence that they had on the culture. I'm glad disco is dead. But forty years later Rock and Roll is no longer "devil's music" the sexual revolution not only deposed the old norms, its made deviation the norm, women work, they vote and they lead. And its so hard to find someone who's never tried weed, even presidents, the drug war is collapsing in on itself, We have a Socialist president who also happens to be black, etc etc etc.

Yeah looks like they like totally failed to change America..... end sarcasm.

The term Tea Party, which is really made up of people of various political flavors that espouse fiscal responsibility has become a scarlet letter. First used by the far left out of fear they might drown out the occupiers and now adopted by the statist ruling class of "mainstream" Democrats and Republicans.

They must turn the Tea Party from a Movement of the People to The Other because the ruling class fears one thing, any change that makes any establishment Republican or Democrat accountable for anything. Even if its costs the nation everything in the long run, that's OK with them. So long as people like David Brooks get a salary to tell you what you should think.

So I'm not a TEA party member but the underlying principal is one of fiscal responsibility. I can certainly understand that and don't consider them radicals or out to tear the nation apart. But rather trying to save the nation and the middle class from fiscal disaster. Often against long odds and deaf ears, so that there may be an America as we knew it to pass down.

But I'm not sure the TEA Party play their politics right, I mean Gingrich lost his job and is considered a failure, while Bill Clinton is praised and credited for a balanced budget Gingrich dragged Clinton kicking and screaming to. Clinton was smart enough to not only give the other side what it wanted, but to then pretend it was all his idea in the first place.

So who was deserves the credit? Who's the real hero on that? The one who gave everything to make America better or the one who, well you know, they don't call him Slick Willie for nothing.

In the same manner the TEA Party would have served itself well to just have made it clear that Obamacare would be a disaster, then give Obama what he wanted. Let that Obamacare anvil hang around Obama and the Democrats' neck till next November. Then see what happens. I can tell you it won't be pretty.

So while not everyone wants to be a TEA Partier I think we should all get behind the principals of limited government and fiscal responsibility which is the basis of the TEA Party movement.

Because if you're a liberal, sure there are programs that help the poor, but if they spend the government into the ground all those programs you like they're not cut, they're gone, bankrupt, kaput within the next generation.

If you're libertarian the best way to limit government is through the purse, they can try to tell you how to live, but take away that purse and its just bark with no bite.

If you're a traditional Republican, you like freedom, a strong defense and honest government. Well the current government defense is mainly aimed at the enemy within, not our true enemies. The interference of government in people''s lives has long passed the border of fascism, honest government? MOFO please!

So in the long run if the TEA Party is even half as successful at influencing the future of America as the New Left, Hippies and 60's counterculture were, even if they don't win every fight, then the statist liars, thieves and communists now controlling DC have every reason to worry.

Because America will be as dramatically changed or nearly so in the next 50 years as it was in the last 50 years. The big loser in that change will be big government neo-communist progressives and Republicans who want to control that same overpowered government for their own pet projects.

That's quite a bit of success for the TEA Party, Its as scary to present day DC as a naked hippie making free love and smoking a bong was to Nixon.

So if the TEA Party is the same as the hippies well then where do I get in line to tune in, turn on and drop out?

Norwegians Tried to Talk Kenya Mall Murderer Into Not Joining al Qaeda Linked Group

This is why Scandinavia, and perhaps the rest of Europe, is doomed: they're a bunch of pussies.

It's illegal in many countries to attempt to join al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. In the US, leaving the country to join this group is considered a criminal conspiracy to aid terrorism. That's why a number of our homegrown jihadis are sitting in prison rotting: they were arrested in transit to joining this or that terror group.

But the article below points out that the Norwegian model is to try to talk some sense into the would-be terrorist.

These would be the same people who gave Barack Obama a "peace prize". They think talking is somehow the same thing as action:

Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow, a 23-year-old Somalian whom Kenyan authorities believe was one of the terrorists in the Westgate mall seige, was 'well-known' to the[Norwegian] PST domestic intelligence service, its chief said yesterday....

She said: 'We had several talks with him... before he left Norway more than three years ago. Obviously we didn't succeed, but there was quite an effort put into the preventive side of this.'

Like the US, it's against the law to join foreign terrorist organizations in Norway. But how do they enforce the law in Norway? They talk to people.

This is the kind of insanity that leads to complete and utter societal collapse. When your enemies mean to subject or kill you, the proper response isn't sending a strongly worded letter.

Soldiers Being Told that Tea Party is Threat to Nation

I can't speak to the authenticity of soldiers reporting that they were told that the American Family Association (AFA) and Tea Party were "extremist" or "threatening to tear the nation apart". What I can say is that a lot of this kind of training relies on information from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) which used to be a reliable source, but over the past 3 or 4 years has started listing groups actively opposing gay marriage as "hate groups". They also listed the American Family Association as a "hate group" which it obviously isn't.

I do doubt any one was told they'd be disciplined for donating to the AFA, evangelical churches, or Tea Party, but it is believable that they were labeled "hate groups" or something along those lines since a lot of this kind of training relies on unreliable sources like the SPLC.

Fox News:

Soldiers attending a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood say they were told that evangelical Christians and members of the Tea Party were a threat to the nation and that any soldier donating to those groups would be subjected to punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

A soldier who attended the Oct. 17th briefing told me the counter-intelligence agent in charge of the meeting spent nearly a half hour discussing how evangelical Christians and groups like the American Family Association were “tearing the country apart.”

Michael Berry, an attorney with the Liberty Institute, is advising the soldier and has launched an investigation into the incident.

Then again, people say stupid things and soldiers are, after all is said and done, still people.

I guess the thing I'm supposed to get angry about was that this all took place at Fort Hood, the same location that the worst terror attack on the homeland since 9/11 occurred. That on the grounds that an Islamist extremists murdered my fellow citizens I should get pissed off that some guy is saying that Christians and Tea Partiers are the real problem.

Okay, I'm a little mad, but not that much. I try to reserve my righteous indignation for people like Nidal Hasan who actually committed murder, rather than some idiot who said something stupid about his political opponents.

But But Discussion of Muslims Still Enslaving Blacks in Sudan is Racist Against Islam

And you can always excuse modern racist Islamic slavery going on today, with discussion of past slavery practiced by non-Muslims.

I'm left puzzled by the actions of the United Nations and conferences like Durban. Why are the calls for help from the black Africans of Sudan not discussed? According to Deng the UN was well aware of the enslavement of South Sudanese by the Arabs. It took 16 years for UNICEF to acknowledge what was happening. They did nothing until pressured by the Jewish-led American Anti-Slavery Group. I find it ironic that it took a Jewish organization to get the voices of these people into the court of public opinion.

So why the attempt to muzzle the cries for help from Africa? According to Deng, bringing this issue to the UN would offend the OIC and the Arab league. Could that be true? And if so, how did we get to a place where the most vulnerable are kept out of the spotlight at the behest of the OIC and the Arab league?

We seem to be choosing to ignore the many who suffer at the hands of Arab/Muslims. Deng has shared his concerns about the West abandoning the "victims of Arab/Islamic apartheid." Is it fear of accusations of Islamophobia? Beyond the enslavement of black Africans in the 21st-century that is under reported, to the point of being ignored, Christians all over the Middle East and North Africa are under attack. Based on mainstream media reporting, one wouldn't know the seriousness of the situation.

After all, racists, who is carrying on a more authentic Hadith. Those who freed their slaves. Or the Islamic slave masters of Sudan who are still castrating their black slave boys and raping their black slave girls?

Good News: Over 50 Brits Fighting in Somalia

The BBC claims they've compiled a list of nearly fifty British citizens fighting for the al Qaeda linked al-Shabaab in Somalia. The report actually includes the names of those who attempted to go to Somalia as well, but it also goes on to say that the number is probably far higher. That is, these are the 47 people that we know about.

And it's not just ethnic Somali youths, it's Muslims of all ethnic background. For instance, in this article they choose to highlight a London born man of Bangledeshi heritage:

Four of the men on the list are known to be dead, including men who featured on a video released by the group a week ago.

The video included a message from a young man named as "Talha", who asked Muslims in Tower Hamlets - a borough in east London - to join the jihad in Somalia.

Talha, whose real name was Taufail Ahmed, died in Somalia in November 2012.

The Foreign Office said it had confirmed the death to his family, who are of Bangladeshi origin.

Good news indeed, eh? He's dead.

But not so fast, no good deed goes unpunished in the bizarro world we live in. Local Somalis claim that Ahmed was killed in a firefight between Shabaab and "British and American forces."

So what? Just another dead terrorist. Good riddance.

Well, his family has hired a lawyer to "investigate" the charge. I guess so they can sue the British for killing their terrorist son.

In Britain, terrorists sue you!

Antisemitic Crimes Up 300% in Swedish City, Prosecutions Down 100%

I don't generally support hate crime legislation, so don't think of this as an endorsement for the practice of punishing thought and speech crimes. Instead, think of this as commentary on Swedish society and Europe's growing indifference to antisemitism.

A counter factual thought experiment: Had the target of the "hate crimes" been Muslims or gays, how many convictions would there be? Da Tech Guy:

Sixty anti-Semitic hate crimes were registered in Malmö in 2012 – almost three times the number in previous years. None of these resulted in a conviction.
The story doesn't say who it was perpetrating the "hate crimes" in Malmo, but lest you think it was a bunch of Scandis painting swastikas let me remind you that Malmo has a high concentration of a certain religion-of-peace and that Swedish police dare not enter certain areas of the city because the locals don't take too kindly to kafirs telling them what to do.

Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif Arrives in US to Collect One Billion Dollar Jizya

We're actually considering restoring aid to Pakistan because, I dunno, we're retarded.

Even before Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif meets President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday, his visit to Washington as the leader of an increasingly democratic Pakistan already was remarkable for one major reason: not a single member of Pakistan’s military was in his delegation.
He brought along the issue of drone strikes with which to extract the Infidel Tax
In no uncertain terms, however, Sharif touched on “a major irritant” in U.S.-Pakistani relations: “the matter of drone strikes, which have deeply disturbed and agitated our people.”

He said the U.S. strikes not only violated Pakistan’s territorial integrity but also were detrimental to his country’s own efforts to combat terrorism.

If we give even one red cent to Pakistan we are the biggest fools on the planet. I mean besides bin-Laden living in downtown Abbottabad, Pakistan is at best duplicitous in regards to Afghanistan and the Taliban. Any shortfall in aid to Pakistan must be made up by their sponsor Saudi Arabia, who is miffed at us for not winning the Jihadist war in Syria for them.

Sending money to Pakistan not only finances our enemies there, but frees up other terrorist sponsors to send more aid to al-Nusra and al-Qaeda operating in Syria, Libya, Somalia, Tunisia, Algeria, need I name more?

You'd think our government would catch on eventually to this game. But expecting politicians to think is a bit much.

Any extorted Jizya disguised as aid to Pakistan is a Lose, Lose for the United States and a Win Win for Islamist and Jihadi terrorist groups. The cost will far outweigh any benefit we get. We think we're buying something with it, but really we're just paying the Jizya already due.

It makes us appear weak, inferior and primed for the next extortion.

Just Don't do it. Don't give or lend Pakistan ONE. RED. CENT. NOT. ONE.

Sandcrawler PSA: If They Who Wrote the Software Don't Trust It

Then neither should you.

Crammed into conference rooms with pizza for dinner, some programmers building the Obama administration's showcase health insurance website were growing increasingly stressed. Some worked past 10 p.m., energy drinks in hand. Others rewrote computer code over and over to meet what they considered last-minute requests for changes from the government or other contractors.
I know a little something about writing software. Different platform, but I digress.

Such as... in a hurry against an insane deadline is um not, not good.

More people "fixing" actually kind of slows things down on major issues, not the other way around.

And also if they didn't have time to test to "see if it works" how much time do you think they had to test to see "if its secure?"

Just sayin'.

I'm not saying its a disaster yet, its just broken. But there is a strong potential for disaster in my opinion.

UK Taxpayers Foot £350,000 Bill For Muslim Parents To Remove Daughter's Pubic Hair

Please Resist Arrest. Pretty Please!

Thank you for resisting arrest:

"A wanted Palestinian terrorist was killed this morning in Bilin during a gunfight with the army while he was in a cave," army spokesman Avichay Adraee tweeted in Arabic on Tuesday.

The gunfight broke out after troops stormed an area between the villages of Bilin and Kufr Ne'meh, 10 kilometres north-west of Ramallah, shortly before dawn.

The army named the dead man as Mohammed Assi and said he was an Islamic Jihad militant responsible for a bus-bombing in Tel Aviv that left 29 people injured.

No Freedom of Speech or Religion in South Africa

No, they didn't criticize Islam ... they mentioned it. And for the "crime" of mentioning that a few Muslims were at a protest ... they got fined:

The Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) fined in an August 29, 2013 judgment a South African radio broadcaster for making an “unjustifiable connection with Islam” during news reports....

BCCSA fined the public broadcaster SAfm R10,000 each for two violations of South Africa’s Broadcasting Code on May 24, 2013. The complainant, SAMNET (South African Muslim Network), charged in the first instance that a SAfm noon bulletin discussed “immigrants protesting in Switzerland about employment and other issues.” The clip stated that the “protesters were not linked to any religion even though some Muslims were present.”

The other "criminal" speech violation? The same broadcaster mentioned that the murderers of Lee Rigby were "Islamic extremists".

Get it? You can't mention in South Africa when people kill in the name of Islam because .... racist!

(Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit)

The Muslimah was from the same region as the Boston Marathon Bombers:

A suspected female suicide bomber has set off explosives on a bus in the southern Russian city of Volgograd, killing at least six people.

Officials believe the woman was from Dagestan in the North Caucasus and was the partner of an Islamist militant.

The blast, which happened just after 14:00 (10:00 GMT), also injured more than 30 people, some of them seriously.

Heartbreak! Japanese Teens Not F*cking

This looks like a job for Young American Redneck!

What happens to a country when its young people stop having sex? Japan is finding out.

Japan's under-40s appear to be losing interest in conventional relationships. Millions aren't even dating, and increasing numbers can't be bothered with sex. For their government, "celibacy syndrome" is part of a looming national catastrophe.

No, your grandchild might not score in the top of his class if you arrange for Young American Redneck to boink your tender Japanese daughter, but at least there will be someone to take care of you in your twilight years.

al-Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula Financed Almost Exclusively Through Ransom

What happens when Johnny Stupid gets kidnapped while appreciating Arab Culture.

Dominik Neubauer stared into the camera, the steel barrel of an assault rifle pointed at his head.

A Yemeni "tribe" had taken him hostage, the 26-year-old Austrian student said in English, a tear rolling down his left cheek. If they aren't paid a ransom, he continued, "they will kill me seven days after this video is published."

Over the last two years, AQAP, as Western officials refer to the group, has extorted $20 million in ransom money, according to an estimate by Alistair Burt, who until this month was the top British diplomatic official for the Middle East.

If those payments continue, "AQAP's attack capability in Yemen and against its friends and neighbors will only strengthen," he said at a recent diplomatic meeting in New York. Kidnapping has become the group's single largest source of funds, U.S. and European officials say.

Much of the money comes with the complicity of Western governments that have rebuffed British and American exhortations not to pay ransoms....

So when your little naive progressive college student decides to Sit A Year in some misunderstood Islamic country, Johnny may come home in one piece if you get your government to pay, but the ransom will be used to murder some other family's child.

The victim will likely be a poor oppressed Muslim who just wasn't the right kind of Muslim.

Think about it.

Turkey Outs Spies

They fight Iran in Syria, but turn in any Iranian who speaks to an Israeli to a government thy call war criminals?

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Recep Erdoğan's hostility toward Israel and embrace of Hamas terrorists is well established. He has called Zionism, the belief in a Jewish state, "a crime against humanity."

But a report published Wednesday evening by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius raises the question of whether Erdoğan, head of a NATO state, deliberately sabotaged efforts to stop Iran's nuclear weapons program out of spite for Israel.

Erdoğan's government reportedly gave the Islamic Republic the names of up to 10 Iranians who were meeting Mossad officers inside Turkey last year.

Which is why the entire nation of Turkey is banned from Jawa Report. If you thought this NATO ally was secular or against al-Qaeda, I've got some comments for you to read.

University: Racist IDF Soldiers Won't Rape Palestinian Women

An older story, but Legal Insurrection brings it up in this article about anti-Israeli movements:

A research paper that won a Hebrew University teachers' committee prize finds that the lack of IDF rapes of Palestinian women is designed to serve a political purpose. [...]

The next sentence delineates the particular goals that are realized in this manner: "In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it can be seen that the lack of military rape merely strengthens the ethnic boundaries and clarifies the inter-ethnic differences - just as organized military rape would have done."

The paper further theorizes that Arab women in Judea and Samaria are not raped by IDF soldiers because the women are de-humanized in the soldiers' eyes.

I guess this explains why so many Muslims do rape - because they are not racists and they view non-Muslim women as humans. Yeah, that's the ticket.

If They Do This To Each Other, Just Imagine What They Would Do To You

Muslims attacking Muslims, and they both hate the Kufar more:

WASHINGTON, October 18, 2013 -- A group of Americans visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj were threatened and attacked earlier this week on Oct. 16 by a radicalized group of extremists. On one of the nights where Hajj pilgrims are required to stay overnight in the city of Mina, a group of young men began asking different sets of pilgrims if they were from the United States.

When they encountered a group that identified themselves as not only Americans, but also as Shiite Muslims, they were threatened and attacked by the group of men, who were apparently armed with knives and other blades.

During the attack, the men reportedly shouted "Our [holy pilgrimage] will be complete once we have killed you, ripped out your hearts and eaten them, and [then] raped your women."

In continuing the assault, the men also shouted "We're going to do Karbala all over again," referring to an important historical event to Shi'ite Muslims, wherein the grandson of the Prophet, named Imam Husain, was brutally attacked and killed, after he was forced to witness the killing of many of his family members. The survivors of the incident, mostly women and children, were immediately imprisoned in circumstances that resulted in the deaths of some of the prisoners.

The Americans fled the tent area, which the Saudi government had specifically designated for American and European pilgrims. During the escape, many of the group, almost entirely U.S. citizens and mostly hailing from Dearborn, Michigan suffered bruises (in one case, due to an attempted strangulation), concussions, broken bones, and black eyes.

Notice the Washington Times refers to the attackers as "a radicalized group of extremists," the implication being they are part of the tiny, minority of Muslims who misunderstand the Religion of Peace™. Yet, when the victims reported the assault, they were met with laughter from authorities.

To add further insult, the victims were informed by the U.S. Embassy that they could only receive help had they died in the attack.

Not that I'm a fan of Dearborn Muslims, it's just I couldn't help thinking, if they treat each other this way, imagine how they would treat you and your family.

Give the Rebels What They Want

The Jihadi's always tell me, "We love death more than you Americans love life."

But then whenever they get it, they start whining, Save us!

Residents of a Syrian town besieged by President Bashar al-Assad's forces appealed to the world to "save us from death" in an open letter describing desperate conditions and suffering.

The writers, who did not give their names, said they had managed to find enough power to run a computer and connect to the internet to send the letter.

The SNC said nearly 12,000 people face starvation and death in Mouadamiya. About 90 percent of Mouadamiya has been destroyed, few doctors remained, and residents were eating "leaves of trees".

Why heck, there are little kids in Africa who would love to have your salad, internet and death rates.

Reports are the bomber was female, one 30-year-old Naida Asiyalova.

She died in the 'suicide attack' alongside her victims. But this was not the same as earlier outrages when 'black widow' killers have been involved.

Asiyalova's husband remains alive and was named as Dmitry Sokolov, aged 21, a native of Krasnoyarsk.

Three years ago he went to Dagestan without notifying his parents, say reports, and he is known to have studied both Wahhabism and explosives.

He met and married Asiyalova in Moscow, it is claimed.

Long Island Man Indicted Attempted to Join AQAP

A Long Island NY man has been indicted for attempting to join al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). Earlier this year his friend, Justin Kaliebe, plead guilty on a charge of also trying to join AQAP:

Marcos Alonso Zea, also known as "Ali Zea," was charged in a 5 count indictment with conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country, attempting to provide material support to terrorists, attempting to provide material support to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, also known as Ansar al-Sharia (AQAP/AAS), and obstruction and attempted obstruction of justice.
Zea attempted to fly to Yemen through London last year, but the Brits didn't let him transit through and sent him packing back to the US. You'd have thought this would have sent up red flags and that Zea would have dropped his plans, but no, both and and Kaliebe kept trying. But the pair were under surveillance. After Zea learned his friend had been arrested, he tried to get another friend to erase his hard drive on his computer. Too late, the Feds already had that locked down too:
Despite Zea's efforts to thwart the investigation, investigators obtained the hard drives and conducted a forensic examination, which revealed an assortment of violent Islamic extremist materials. For example, the drives contained issues of Inspire magazine, an AQAP/AAS publication that promotes violent jihad, containing articles such as "Which is Better: Martyrdom or Victory?" "Why did I choose al Qaeda?" "What to Expect in Jihad?" and an interview with "Shaykh Abu Hurairah, The Military Commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula." The electronic media also included a video, disseminated by the propaganda wing of al-Qaeda in Iraq, depicting the detonation of an explosive device on a vehicle carrying western military person
I haven't been able to find the indictment or complaint online yet. If you see a link do me a favor and email it to me.

In the meantime, watch out for the cornhole.

UPDATE: And within seconds of asking, I receive. Here's the indictment.

Norwegian Citizen ID'd as Kenya Mall Attack Terrorist

He's not a Scandi, but a refugee from Somalia who nevertheless grew up there. I'd say he should have known better, but this is the same country that gave Barack Obama the Nobel Prize:

The man being investigated by Norwegian police over the attack on Kenya's Westgate shopping centre is Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow, BBC Newsnight has learned.

The 23-year-old Norwegian citizen of Somali origin is suspected of helping to plan and carry out the attack.

BBC Newsnight has spoken to a relative of his in Norway who said he left the town of Larvik for Somalia in 2009.

I'm not sure there's some kind of new takeaway here. We've known for years that the children of Somali refugees were being recruited in the West to come back and fight for al Shabaab. We've also known for years that we have a problem with radicals among us who decide that instead of going overseas to fight the kufar, that they'll just stay here and blow up people instead.

Of course, by "we", I mean you and me. Progressives and liberals have been in denial mode since 9/11, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Thanks to Terror Free Somalia.

But he did not know why until after the Capitol Police had hustled her from the podium at the House of Representatives to a hospital for psychiatric observation.

Only then did Dianne Foster Reidy tell 54-year-old Dan Reidy that she had been repeatedly awakened by the Holy Spirit and urged to deliver a message on the House floor, where she has worked for the past eight years.

Hezbollah Shoots Down Zionist Endangered Species Eagle

The eyes of the Juice, they're everywhere:

Hezbollah’s Al-Manar website recently boasted of capturing an eagle that carried an Israel-labeled transmission device on its back and claimed the bird was an Israeli spy. It said hunters in central Lebanon shot down the bird and found devices on it as well as a copper ring on its leg that reads “Israel” in English followed by letters that refer to Tel Aviv University. The fate of the eagle remains unclear.

Israeli ornithologist Yossi Leshem said Thursday he was tracking the bird for research and was “incredibly frustrated” it was harmed.

Pali Tractor v. IDF: IDF 1, Tractor 0

Ah yes, the dreaded Tractor of Terror:

A Palestinian man riding a tractor was shot dead Thursday evening as he broke through the main gate of an army base located north of Jerusalem.

When he did not react the soldiers opened fire, mortally wounding the Palestinian.

The guy obviously has watched too many movies in which the hero just raises the tractor bucket so he can't get shot. It's funny how that doesn't seem to work when the people shooting at you are shooting from the side of the tractor.

Nonetheless, I nominate this guy for this year's Rachel Corrie Darwin Award.

Whole lot of practicing going on......shhh!

Inside the Ring

Talks in Geneva on Iran’s nuclear program are triggering fears within U.S. intelligence agencies that Israel is hardening its stance on Iran and could conduct a military attack to stave off what the Jewish state believes is a delaying tactic for Tehran to buy time to build nuclear weapons.

The clearest indicator of growing Israeli concerns, according to defense officials, is the recent large-scale Israeli air force drill Tuesday in the northern part of the country. The exercises along the northern border and over the Mediterranean were considered unusually large.

An Israeli defense source told Israel’s Walla! news outlet: “Changes have recently occurred in the Middle East. The [Israeli Defense Force] is preparing for those changes in both the closer and more distant perimeters, and yesterday’s exercise was intended to signal the IDF’s serious intention of dealing with those problems and thwarting them.”

Additionally, Israeli air forces conducted long-range fighter exercises last week involving in-flight refueling practice.

Nothing to see here....move along.

Tragically, UK Scientists Proves Yeti is Polar/Brown Bear Hybrid

At least I've still got Sasquatch and Nessie to pin my hopes on:

Research by a British scientist has concluded that the legendary Himalayan yeti may in fact be a sub-species of brown bear.

DNA tests on hair samples carried out by Oxford University genetics professor Bryan Sykes found that they matched those from an ancient polar bear.

He subjected the hairs to the most advanced tests available.

He says the most likely explanation for the myth is that the animal is a hybrid of polar bears and brown bears.

Prof Sykes told the BBC that there may be a real biological animal behind the yeti myth.

I think the interesting thing here isn't that he just disproved the Yeti, but that he found evidence that there really was an animal behind the sighting. If that's the case, then could Bigfoot be real-ish?

I've got to be honest with you, I've had a lifelong fascination with the paranormal, UFOs, and cryptozoology. The thing is, I don't actually believe any of it. I think it's all nonsense. But I want to believe. So, I continue to watch stupid documentaries about them. And if you tell me you believe in them my normal reply is OMFG, you are such a moron!

And yet, with all my mocking, there's ..... hope. I guess it's a nerd thing. It's in our DNA.

Muslim Woman Seeks Well Hung Man w/ Desire to Kill Infidels

Normally we think of radical women as the victims in a relationship. Some poor dimwitted woman converts to Islam, then finds a guy who pushes her towards radicalization. But Samantha Lewthwaite's, the "White Widow's", diaries and internet searches reveal a woman who was already radicalized and who sought out a husband who would help raise her children for martyrdom.

The same could be said of Colleen LaRose, better known as Jihad Jane. You'll recall that she met her husband on the internet where she was already active in radical circles.

I've always had the feeling that Zach Chesser -- who's rotting in jail for threatening the creators of South Park for their "blasphemy" and for trying to join al Shabaab -- was not the domineering person in the relationship. That his wife, who remains free, was the one cheering him on towards jihad.

I guess the point of this being that we shouldn't always assume that the wives in these relationships are somehow without guilt. Often, they help enable their husbands and encourage them to become terrorists. They live vicarious lives of glory through their husband's infamy.

It's not just young men that efforts at averting radicalism should be targeted, but also the young women who think these men are cool.

Pakistanis Surprised Peace Talks w/ Taliban Not Working Out

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me thousands of times, shame on me:

A political assassination at celebrations for Eid al-Adha has further eroded hopes of peace talks with the Taliban in Pakistan.

The Law Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Israrullah Gandapur, became the latest member of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to be killed by militants, when a suicide bomber struck as Mr Gandapur was greeting constituents at his house to mark the Islamic holiday.

Nine people, including Mr Gandapur, died in the attack near Dera Ismail Khan and at least 30 were injured.

Our betters in Washington and Geneva keep telling us there is no military solution in Afghanistan and Pakistan. That only a political solution will work.

'Unconscious' Ranger Salutes

This just shows the loyalty and dedication our soldiers have for what they do:

Army Ranger Josh Hargis was unconscious, hooked to a breathing tube at a military hospital in Afghanistan after losing both his legs in battle last week.

But when the Purple Heart ceremony began at Hargis' bedside, it turned out he was not unconscious, as doctors believed. Instead, he struggled with an attending doctor to raise his heavily bandaged hand to salute a commanding officer presenting him with the medal.

"I cannot impart on you the level of emotion that poured through the intensive care unit that day," the commander wrote to the Ranger's wife. "Grown men began to weep, and we were speechless at a gesture that speaks volumes about Josh's courage and character."

These guys are already on the State Department's list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, but it serves as a reminder of just who we're dealing with here. Also, Salaafi Islamsists who believe that they are the "good guys" would do well to watch and learn just who it is they are supporting.

If you have the stomach to watch it, I'll direct your attention to the crowd. Notice the kids watching the murder unfold as the terrorists scream Allahu akbar!

Also, contrary to the user on Liveleak who posted it, this is not the Free Syrian Army (FSA). This is Jabhat al-Nusra, an al Qaeda affiliated group. In recent months we've seen cooperation between the FSA and the Salaafi jihadis break down to such a point that they are now literally at war witch each other.

I add this only as a note of caution. Many of the atrocities we see coming out of Syria are posted by Syrians with an agenda, with pro-Assad forces trying to make the claim that terror groups like this one and ISIS are part of the FSA.

Everybody Act Surprised: PA "Lost" 2.5 Billion Euros in Aid

Of course, like typical Euroweenies they will resolve the problem of Palestinian Authority corruption by giving them more money:

The Sunday Times newspaper in the UK has obtained a draft report by the EU that underlines the concern that the Palestinian Authority has lost 2.5 billion euros in aid over the last four years. ...

The newspaper revealed that the EU recently sent a delegation to occupied East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to investigate the way aid is being handled. The investigators confirmed, according to the report, the absence of any administrative procedures to prevent the exploitation of aid and expressed a real fear that the funds have been "misspent, squandered or lost to corruption".

So, what percentage is 2.5 billion Euros of the total amount of money the EU gave the Palestinians?

Well, they gave the PA 2.5 billion Euros ... and the PA can't account for .... 2.5 billion Euros.

Heartbreak! Hundreds Possibly Thousands of Boko Haram Terrorists Die in Nigerian Custody

The deaths of hundreds of people in detention facilities run by Nigeria’s military Joint Task Force (JTF) must be investigated as a matter of urgency, Amnesty International said today.

Amnesty International has received credible information from a senior officer in the Nigerian Army that over 950 people died in military custody in the first six months of 2013 alone. Most of the reported deaths occurred in facilities used by the military to detain people suspected of being members of or associated with the armed Islamist group Boko Haram.

On to the good parts.
According to former detainees interviewed by Amnesty International, people died on an almost daily basis in both Giwa and Sector Alpha from suffocation or other injuries due to overcrowding, and starvation. Some suffered serious injuries due to severe beating and eventually died in detention due to lack of medical attention and treatment.

These interviews also revealed that in some cases detainees in these facilities may have been extrajudicially executed. Some described soldiers taking detainees from their cells threatening to shoot and kill them. In many cases the detainees never returned. Others were reportedly shot in the leg during interrogation, provided no medical care and left to bleed to death.

NPR reported on this this AM and mentioned there at the very last that Boko Haram is responsible for the murder of thousand of "civilians". Go ahead and replace the word "Civilians" with "Christians" and then you have an accurate statement.

To be fair NPR is aware of Boko Haram's butchery against Christians and churches. But today's narrative is about "Muslim victims" in India and Nigeria. So can't muck that up.

As for the current tragedy befalling Boko Haram fighters dying in Nigeria.

Um..... we hope Nigeria keeps up the good work. Because some people just need killing, I count Boko Haram among those.

UK Police Thwart Copy Cat Mall Attack

Disgruntled Jehovah's Witnesses, I'm sure:

British law enforcement agencies say they have averted a plot to orchestrate a large-scale terror attack similar to the assault on Kenya's Westgate mall.

Police are questioning four men in their 20s on suspicion of terrorism after they were detained on Sunday in pre-planned, intelligence-led raids.

A British security official says the men were planning a shooting spree akin to the Westgate attack in Nairobi, in which at least 67 people died....

Metropolitan Police did not identify the suspects or say what, if any, charges, they may face. But in a series of statements, the force said the men were all British nationals between the ages of 25 and 29, with roots in Turkey, Pakistan, Algeria and Azerbaijan.

'Moderate' Country Rules Calling God "Allah" Illegal for Christians

And by 'public disorder' the court means "some Muslims might take offense and kill you". Which is really rather nice of the court, thinking about the safety of Christians and what not. Of course, this is a reminder that even in Muslim countries Islamophobia runs rampant. The biggest culprits being Muslims themselves.

The Muslim court itself is Islamophobic. What else would you call a court that held Muslims to a lower standard than everybody else?

A Malaysian court has ruled that non-Muslims cannot use the word Allah to refer to God, even in their own faiths, overturning a 2009 lower court ruling.

The appeals court said the term Allah must be exclusive to Islam or it could cause public disorder....

The 2009 ruling sparked tensions, with churches and mosques attacked....

Dozens of churches and a few Muslim prayer halls were attacked and burned in the wake of the 2009 ruling, highlighting the intensity of feeling about issues of ethnicity and faith in Malaysia.

When will the Islamophobia in Malaysia end!

How, exactly, is that supposed to make me feel better when this sh*t keeps happening?

A man wearing an Afghan army uniform shot at US soldiers in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least one serviceman on Sunday, local officials and the Nato-led coalition said.

The so-called “insider attack” in Paktika province is the fourth in less than a month and is likely to strain already tense ties between coalition troops and their allies, with most foreign troops scheduled to withdraw by the end of next year.

H/T: Rantburg

The bad news is that Sec. of State Kerry seems to have worked out the kinks with Karzai so that we'll be stuck in Afghanistan forever. The analogy with Japan or Germany is a bad one. I know we've been in those countries for well over half a century, the differences are too many to mention but let me address two. First, Germany and Japan were nation states before we occupied them. Afghanistan is a state, but not a nation. Second, Germany and Japan had functioning governments before they were occupied. Afghanistan has never had anything like a government in the modern sense. We weren't engaged in state building in these two countries post WWII, we were engaged in state rebuilding.

The crux being that with or without us Afghanistan will be a mess.

Three Red Cross Workers Taken Hostage in Syria

Actually, the number was closer to six (with some reports claiming seven) but the hostage takers let some of them go. Details remain hazy on just who is still being held hostage and who was let go:

Officials say a Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteer and three of six Red Cross staffers taken hostage in Syria are free and safe....

Simon Schorno, a spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Damascus, said over the weekend the assailants snatched the seven aid workers from their convoy near the town of Saraqeb in Idlib province around 11:30 a.m. local time as the team was returning to Damascus. He declined to provide the nationalities of the six ICRC employees, and said it was not clear who was behind the attack.

Syria's state news agency, quoting an anonymous official, said the gunmen opened fire on the ICRC team's four vehicles before seizing the Red Cross workers. The news agency blamed "terrorists," a term the government uses to refer to those opposed to President Bashar Assad.

I'll point out that the workers had come through Damascus, meaning they were there with regime blessings, but were in Syria's north, meaning they were in rebel held territory. So, either the locals who captured them let the infidels go and kept the "traitors" (the local security team), or the other way around -- they let the Muslims go and kept the infidels. That, or they just kept the ones they thought they could get the highest ransom for.

Obama's Homeland Security Advisor: Christian Copts Are Islamophobes

I guess because they don't pay jizya or embrace the murder of their children for rejecting Islam...

From IPT:

Major Coptic leaders are condemning Mohamed Elibiary, an Obama administration Homeland Security adviser, for suggesting that Copts who raise awareness of anti-Christian violence in Egypt promote "Islamophobic" bigotry.

Elibiary sent out a series of tweets that Coptic leaders found offensive last month. The tweets appeared to chastise the Coptic community for lobbying on behalf of their relatives in Egypt. He targeted them because they had aligned themselves with conservative groups that he called "Islamophobic."

"VERY disturbing if true: bit.ly/18xotzi US DHS adviser accuses #Coptic #Christians of inciting Muslims! #Speechless! Pls comment!" Bishop Angaelos, Coptic Pope Tawadros II's personal representative in the United Kingdom wrote in a Sept. 28 Twitter post.

California Man Charged With Material Support for al-Qaeda

A Garden Grove man was arrested Friday morning on federal charges that he provided support to the terrorist organization al-Qaida, according to the FBI.

Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen, also known as “Hasan Abu Omar Ghannoum,” 24, was taken into custody at a bus station in Santa Ana where he was attempting to board a bus headed for Mexico, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a brief statement emailed to news media.

Nguyen had been named in a two-count indictment returned Friday by a Los Angeles federal grand jury, the FBI stated.

He was charged with knowingly attempting to provide material support to al-Qaida and making false statements in an application for a passport.

Nguyen had been “radicalized” and wanted to become a “foot soldier” for al-Qaida, sources told the Los Angeles Times.

Facebook has one Hasan Abu Omar Ghannoum from Garden Grove.

Her lists himself as a member of California State University at Fullerton's Muslim Students Association.

He had attended a gun show on Nov 25th of last year.

Top Pakistani Taliban Captured in Afghanistan

His name is Latif Mehsud and there's some disagreement over exactly how he was captured. Some sources claim he was captured by the Afghans, while others claim he was in Afghanistan as a guest of the Afghans working on negotiations when the US grabbed him:

Latif and three other Taliban fighters were captured last week while traveling in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar, the governor of the province told The Associated Press. He was being escorted by the NDS, which was taking him to a headquarters for talks, when a US military team halted the convoy, detained him, and then transferred him to the US-controlled section of Bagram prison, Aimal Faizi, a spokesman for President Hamid Karzai told The Washington Post.

The Pakistani Taliban confirmed that Latif was in custody, but claimed he was "seized by the Afghan army at the Ghulam Khan border crossing in the eastern province of Khost on Oct. 5," The Washington Post reported. The Pakistani Taliban and intelligence officials claimed he "was returning from a meeting to discuss swapping Afghan prisoners for money," according to the AP.

Either as a guest or a prisoner we did snatch him from the Afghans which has pissed off Karzai. To which I say who gives a crap what Karzai thinks anymore?

Thanks to Harry.

Good News! The Islamic State of Iraq Opens Sharia Court in Azaz

I guess this means that rather than just murdering Christians for refusing to convert on the street there will now be a short ceremonious hearing before senior al-Qaeda leaders before, you know, the head choppings.

Emir of The Islamic State of Iraq an al-Sham, al-Qaeda affiliate group, declared opening a new Shariah court and Police station on Thursday in 'the new Islamic Emirate', Azaz, according to his twitter account.

The Sate new procedures came days after controlling the border city from the local rebel group known as the Northern Storm that led the fight last year to oust government forces from the town.

I'm sure John McCain will be along shortly to explain how this is an improvement.

Two Charged in New York were "Building Small Army" to Help Taliban

The two are Humayoun Ghoulan Nabi, 27, from Pakistan and Ismail Alsarabbi, 32, a naturalized U.S. who's family is Palestinian but who came here via Kuwait. They both lived in Queens and conspired to aid the Taliban fight the US in Afghanistan.

From the press release from the DA in Queens:

[T]he two defendants allegedly engaged in a plan to supply terrorist organizations in Afghanistan with warm winter clothing – which in the context of the fighting in Afghanistan is as serious as supplying the enemy with bullets and bombs. These supplies would have enabled the terrorists to endure the harsh Afghan winters and extend the fighting season. These defendants, as a result, were not merely conspiring to supply clothing items to people in Afghanistan, they were conspiring to make the enemy more effective in engaging and killing American soldiers.
If that's the case, then why wasn't Alsarabbi, an American citizen, charged with treason?

From the criminal complaint we learn that a confidential informant (CI) ratted the two out and that Nabi thought of himself as an "Osama bin Laden" like figure who was in the initial stages of forming his own army:

Nabi's plan was to open a non-profit charity from which he could divert money to those fighting the US in Afghanistan. When Nabi realized that sending money to Pakistan and Afghanistan would raise alarm bells he decided instead to send the Taliban warm weather clothing:

This is where Nabi brought in Alsarabbi who had connections in Pakistan. The pair then wired money to Pakistan which they thought would then be used to help the Taliban. They then set up a warehouse to collect the goods they wanted to send to Pakistan. The only problem? The warehouse was part of the sting operation.

So, the pair was nabbed. Oddly, the complaint mentions a third person named "Brother Mohammad" who wasn't arrested. I wonder if this guy has agreed to testify in return for immunity?

One more interesting thing from the complaint. In addition to hating their adopted country who else do you think the pair blames for the plight of Muslims around the world? The Juice, natch:

In any event we have yet another case in which people living here in the US conspire to help our enemies abroad. The press release is here. The criminal complaint here.

Female Suicide Bomber Responsible for Ranger Deaths in Afghanistan

When Islamists complain that our troops are "humiliating Muslim women" simply by searching them, remember this:

One man appeared. Reports from the battlefield suggest he dropped to his knees and lifted his shirt to show the U.S. forces that he was not wearing a suicide bomb vest.

As several members of the Ranger unit moved toward the man to begin questioning him, a woman wearing a suicide vest emerged from the house and blew herself up, killing several members of the unit instantly, along with the dog, and injuring others....

The four killed were Army Rangers Sgt. Patrick C. Hawkins, 25, assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, at Fort Benning, Ga.; Pfc. Cody J. Patterson, 24, assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, at Fort Benning, Ga.;1st Lt. Jennifer M. Moreno, 25, assigned to Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and attached to a joint special operations task force as a Cultural Support Team member; and Special Agent Joseph M. Peters, 24, assigned to the 286th Military Police Detachment (CID), 5th Military Police Battalion, Vicenza, Italy.

Meanwhile, Sec. of State Kerry is in Afghanistan to talk to Karzai who continues to blame the US for his f*cked up sh*thole of a country:

Mr Karzai has accused Nato of failing to bring stability to Afghanistan.

"On the security front the entire Nato exercise was one that caused Afghanistan a lot of suffering, a lot of loss of life, and no gains because the country is not secure," he told the BBC Newsnight earlier this week.

It's time to leave Afghanistan to the Afghans. Let them find another scapegoat to blame for their problems. And if the Taliban come back or al Qaeda sets up training camps again then we simply bomb them out of existence until the memory of Afghanistan is no more real to us than Carthage.

Pakistiani Muslims Pretty Sure the Jews Resurrected Malala Yousafzai Zombie and Now Control Her Every Movement

Because, you know, those pesky Jews can even teach Zombies to write books and they're certain Allah wanted her dead.

For many of her compatriots, Malala Yousafzai is a stooge of the United States and a CIA agent, a symbol of the West’s evils and a global conspiracy to bring down her native Pakistan.

She has won the European Union’s prestigious human rights award and was one of the favorites to win the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, but in her native Swat valley, friends and neighbors reacted with a mixture of resentment, fear and jealousy.

“Malala is spoiling Pakistan’s name around the world,” said Mohammad Rizwan, a shop owner in her hometown of Mingora. “We didn’t need Malala to come and tell us how important education is.”

You know what's most embarrassing for Pakistani Muslims, the fact that they're too stupid to realize how embarrassing actually stating this aloud really is.

But then again maybe Pakistan's real goal is to be the stupidest people on the planet, I don't know.

Update: Iran, fearing it might lose the competition to Pakistan, decides Malala is a Polish Caucasian.

Um yeah.

Update: Iran PressTV takes down Malala is a Polish Caucasian article and its been scrubbed from the both Google and Yahoo cache, Pakistan wins!

Syrian Rebel Group Takes Russian Hitchhiker (Konstantin Zhuravlev) Hostage, Accuses Him of Being Russian Spy

Brown Moses:

this picture from Liwa al-Tawhed, showing a passport belonging to a man arrested and accused of being a Russian spy by Liwa al-Tawhed.

The man is actually Konstantin Zhuravlev, a former computer programmer who retired and now hitchhikes around the world. His passport is posted on Liwa al-Tawhed's Twitter feed.

According to his Facebook he recently arrived in Instanbul and was traveling to Southern Turkey near the Syrian border. He also reports a recent visit to the Egyptian desert.

He has several other social media accounts, for instance he posts photos here on Redbubble and here on VK.com. And a seldom updated Twitter feed.

His fate is unknown at this time but Islamic Terror groups generally behead those accused of spying shortly after a Kangaroo Sharia judgement. One can only hope that they realize their mistake and release him without condition.

On the bright side Russian intelligence has a very special way of dealing with those that murder Russians.

Airline Union Reports 9/11 Type "Dry Runs"

Yeah, I don't know what to do with this. I actually don't think dry runs are that common. The reason? Dry runs are an invitation to detection. The more you "practice" the more you draw attention to yourself and therefore the probability of getting caught.

That's espionage 101, so no, most "experts" won't tell you dry-runs are common before an actual attack.

At least, al Qaeda wouldn't use dry runs. Al Qaeda has learned since 9/11 and wouldn't do something so dumb. Al Qaeda is much more focused on encouraging homegrown lone-wolfs to act without any backup or coordination.

Again, the more people involved in a plot the more likely you will get caught.

But that doesn't mean other, less sophisticated, terror organizations wouldn't try dry runs.

But, again, it's pretty straight forward stupid to get the plotters on a plane, act strangely enough to draw attention, and then not actually carry out the plot. If you might get caught then the smart move is to go ahead and try to carry out the plot.

This doesn't rule out dry runs altogether, it just means that it's probably not the best explanation.

A better explanation might be either cultural misunderstandings or another "flying imams" case. You'll recall that in 2006 a bunch of Imams got on an airplane and did some unusual things prompting their removal from the plane. That wasn't a dry run, it was a bunch of assholes trying to get themselves kicked off a plane so they could cry "Islamophobia".

There are far more assholes in the world who want people to think Muslims are regularly victimized in the US than there are terrorists. CAIR, the MAS, and the ISNA have to have victims in order to "raise awareness" and, more importantly, funds. If Muslims aren't victims then there's no use for a Muslim "civil rights organization".

As much as I hate to say this, though, there is such a thing as an Islamophbe. Some people really do have an irrational hatred/fear of Muslims. But I think Islamophbia is like racism: there are actual racists, but so few of them them that to claim the phenomenon is widespread is absurd.

So we're left with the final explanation which is just that when Arabs or others who appear to be Muslim act out of the ordinary sometimes we try to make sense of it by thinking they are .... terrorists.

Now, this isn't necessarily Islamophobia. Because it is rational to fear Muslims being terrorists more so then any other group. (see here)

If you're Muslim, I'm sorry. I don't mean to taint you with the sins of others, but that's just how humans work. We group people together by common characteristics. You personally are not responsible for what others do and the bad name they give you, but it is simply human nature.

Do not mischaracterize my argument by claiming I am endorsing the mistreatment of people. I'm not, I'm simply saying that if an airline worker sees a bunch of Arabs acting strangely then of course they are going to process that information differently then if they see a bunch of white guys or black guys acting strangely.

You will be under heightened scrutiny while traveling on airplanes. There's nothing you can do about that short of a) reforming Islam to the point that violent factions within it are so rare that it won't taint you; b) changing human nature such that we no longer think of people in terms of groups, but always and exclusively as individuals. We've seen what regimes that try to change human nature have done in the past so that wouldn't be the route I'd recommend. Besides the impossibility of the project it would also render humans stupid.

The fact that some prejudices are irrational does not mean that all prejudices are irrational. And the fact an individual does not necessarily represent group views does not void the truthfulness of statistical information about groups. If this weren't the case then all modern social science theories would be vain.

Anyway, I've waxed on far longer than I wanted to. Here's the story:

A memo obtained by the 10 News investigators from the union that represents pilots for US Airways says that "there have been several cases recently throughout the (airline) industry of what appear to be probes, or dry-runs, to test our procedures and reaction to an in flight threat."

Koch says, "What most security experts will tell you that if a dry-run is occurring, the attack will shortly follow." ...

Crew members say that shortly after takeoff, a group of four "Middle Eastern" men caused a commotion.

The witnesses claim one of the men ran from his seat in coach, toward the flight deck door. He made a hard left and entered the forward bathroom "for a considerable length of time."

While he was in there, the other three men proceeded to move about the cabin, changing seats, opening overhead bins, and "generally making a scene." They appeared to be trying to occupy and distract the flight attendants.

Like I said, this could be any number of things.

Iraq Executes 42 in 48 hours

You'll have to excuse Reuters' use of quotation marks around "terrorist". Reuters doesn't believe that there are terrorists. But this reminds me of an old joke.

What do you call executing 42 terrorists in Iraq over a two day period? A good start:

Iraq executed 42 people, including a woman, for mass killings and other "terrorism" offences over two days this week, the justice ministry and the United Nations said on Thursday after a surge in sectarian violence....

Sixty-eight death sentences were carried out in 2011, according to Amnesty International. The 42 hanged this week amounted to almost a third of the total number the campaign group said were executed in all of 2012.

"The criminals were found guilty of terrorist crimes... (that) led to the deaths of dozens of innocent citizens, as well as other crimes aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of the country and causing chaos and terror among the people," Minister of Justice Hassan al-Shimary said in a statement.

Salon Movie Critic Bemoans American Superiority

I wasn't going to bother with this story, but after reading the comments at Salon, it should be shared.

Salon movie critic Andrew O'Herih trashes the new movie, "Captain Phillips" apparently because Somali pirates are at a military disadvantage when taking hostages and extorting money:

I can't decide if there's meant to be anything sardonic about the presentation of the asymmetrical conflict in "Captain Phillips": Billions of dollars of cutting-edge military hardware and hundreds of corn-fed, gym-toned Americans on one side, four malnourished men with black-market Kalashnikovs on the other. But I kind of think there isn't. [...]

"Captain Phillips" is less an adventure yarn about the daring rescue of a captured American than a celebration of a huge and expensive machine that crushes disorder.

Charity Pays Death Gratuity for Slain Soldiers that Obama DOD Won't

As I pointed out a couple of days ago, Congress already authorized the payment of Death Gratutity to fallen soldiers during the partial shut down. But the Obama DOD chose to read the statue in the most restrictive way refusing to pay the $100 k Death Gratuity to the families of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. This follows a general pattern of the Administration trying to make the shut down hurt more than it has to as a matter of political policy: He wants you to suffer so you'll blame the Republicans.

But in this case we weren't talking about artificial barriers put up to keep you from seeing Mt. Rushmore -- childish and inconvenient -- we're talking about direct payments to families who just lost a loved one. Not hypothetical payments to soldiers' families, actual payments of men killed in combat last week.

But I just got word from the IAVA that the Fisher House Foundation has stepped up and offered to make payments to the families where the DOD has failed them. These people are heroes.

It Depends on What the Meaning of the Word Less is

Watching the Obamacare rollout I'm struck by how similar it is to a Bill Clinton Tax cut. It sounds like in his speech that Bill is your best friend and you're going to be rolling in dough, then when you start playing with the pencils and filling out the forms....

As a candidate, Obama also made this promise: “I will sign a universal health-care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family’s premium by up to $2,500 a year.” Again, this is not a “right-wing talking point,” nor is it a slur cooked up by an intransigent conservative movement intent upon destroying the president at all costs. It is a verbatim pledge that the candidate made to the American people on camera over and over and over and over again — so often, in fact, that the New York Times ran an entire feature on the “audacious promise” that was submitted in “speech after speech.”

After he was elected president, Obama continued to make definite commitments. On June 15, 2009, in the midst of the legislative fight, the president told the American Medical Association’s annual meeting: “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”

These declarations cannot merely be dismissed as heat-of-the-moment talking points rendered moot by changes made during the deliberative process. Instead, they are claims that were — and that remain — central to the public case for the law

ObamaCare seems to me at this point to be similar. Mostly toothless empty rhetoric. It doesn't rein in insurance companies for "obscene profits". The insurance industry thinks its profitable enough to invest a Billion dollars promoting it.

Its doesn't lower premiums, in fact the only folks I know who's premiums are rising a reasonable amount, which by the way still isn't less, are those who's employers are self insured and have one of those much vilified Cadillac Plans that already meet the minimum requirements for the Affordable Care Act.

The presidents union constituency who bought Cadillac Plans directly from insurance companies rather than doing self insurance are getting a good screwing too.

And those affordable minor tax penalties become progressively less affordable and minor over time.

So the bottom line, Obama is a politician, he had no more idea about what he was doing, what ObamaCare is than Nancy Pelosi did when she admitted she voted for a bill she had no idea what was in it.

But they were more than willing to stand up, smile and spin lies for votes. Its why politician is the dirtiest, most useless, lowest class of human life on the planet.

Shirley Sherrod Suing Andrew Breitbart's Widow

Stacey McCain has a post up about it, I'm too disgusted to write much of anything. If you have Netflix, though, I'd encourage you to watch Hating Breitbart (or better yet, go buy it). One of the things that irritated Andrew Breitbart the most about the Shirley Sherrod controversy is that all of the "false reporting" he was accused of making about Sherrod came from the MSM, none of it from Andrew himself.

The fact that someone at Fox News didn't actually read Andrew's post which accompanied the video which showed Sherrod admitting she had initially turned down a white farmer for a loan because of his race wasn't his fault. The accusations against Breitbart were baseless because he did none of the things the Left accused him of doing.

Andrew's point in that video was not Sherrod's misdeed, it was the reaction of the NAACP audience who seem to approve of Sherrod's racist actions. The video was an indictment of NAACP members far more than it was of Sherrod. Go watch Hating Breitbart to see what Andrew really did in this case vs. what the leftwing media accused him of doing.

Anyway, Sherrod has no grounds for this lawsuit and it infuriates me that she's trying to drag Andrew's widow into this thing.

Syria: How The 'Tiny Minority of Radicals' Took Azaz From the FSA and Kurdish Fighters

Brown Moses:

A guest post by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi.

The northern border town of Azaz in Aleppo Governorate recently came to the forefront of media attention in light of clashes in the town between the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (ISIS) and the local FSA-banner battalion called Northern Storm. So what is the full story behind this conflict?

The ISIS presence in the town can be observed as far back as the beginning of July, when I detailed ISIS’ expansion into rural northern Syria with particular focus on border areas. At the time, the entry of ISIS members with an apparent intention to establish headquarters in Azaz provoked both protests and counter-protests.

Local activists in Azaz and/or those connected to such people have set up a number of Facebook pages, including two by the name of ‘Shabab Halab_Azaz’ (SHA: one which has always been against the ISIS presence in Azaz and has been deleted; another whose stance is more ambiguous), ‘Ahrar Azaz’ and ‘Azaz Media Center.’

The latter two groups originally hosted the ISIS banner on their pages but have recently removed them following multiple denunciations of ISIS. In an interview with those behind the anti-ISIS SHA, I asked about the presence of ISIS banners on Ahrar Azaz and Azaz Media Center’s pages and whether this meant that they were originally sympathetic to ISIS. They denied that this was the case, affirming that “at least 90% [of people] don’t know the meaning of the banner.”

The banner in question?

Family Claims al Libi Innocent Pizza Delivery Boy Who Just Happens to be Good Friends w/ Osama bin Laden

Your mid-morning laugh:

The family of Abu Anas al-Libi, the alleged al-Qaeda leader seized by American forces in Libya, last night claimed he was innocent and had been working in a pizza restaurant while in Britain, not masterminding international terror attacks....

He described how his own childhood had been spent on the run, leaving primary school in Manchester for a life first in Afghanistan, where his father became close to Osama bin Laden, and then in prison in Iran.

But he insisted his father had gone to Afghanistan to “help the oppressed” and was innocent of the murders of 224 people in the twin bombings of the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es-Salaam, of which he is accused by the US.

You'll have to read the rest to see what else this pile of poo had to say about his father. I have a three word description of the words guys like this use: hi lar ious.

See, my Dad couldn't be a terrorist because he's a "normal guy".

He couldn't be a terrorist because he "had a job".

He couldn't be a terrorist because he was just "helping people" in Afghanistan.

He couldn't be a terrorist because he was just Osama bin Laden's "body guard".

Oh, and he was forced to leave the UK because the police were "harassing" his father.

Because terrorists never seem to be just normal guys, with jobs, who think that killing infidels is really just a way of helping people get out from under their thumbs. Also, you're not a "real" terrorist if you were just a regular foot soldier terrorist. Only the top guys should count as "real terrorists". And when the police start investigating you for your terror connections it's all a conspiracy to harass Muslims.

And the thing is, I think this guy actually believes what he's saying because in his universe the words he uses to describe reality are in fact not connected to reality at all. Hence, the terrorists are just freedom fighters.

You know who the real terrorists are don't you, infidels? Look in the mirror.

Two Anti-Virus Software Companies Hacked by Palestinians

This is ... disconcerting. These guys are supposed to be the ones protecting us from the hackers. So, if they can get hacked what does that say about the rest of us?

I'll just note that reports suggest that it was a DNS attack of some sort, so that when you typed in the urls for these two particular websites (AVG and Avira) you were actually looking at another website's content. So it seems less likely that AVG or Avira were themselves attacked but rather ... Network Solutions, the DNS provider. Which is even more troubling, I think.

Dear Federal Elected Officials

RE: The Shutdown.

Ladies, will you please excuse we men for a just a minute as we discuss issues of vital social and political import. Its not that I think that the 100 female members of congress bear no responsibility on the shutdown, but chivalry is not completely dead, so the following post is not directed at you and may contain language that is not appropriate to direct at an unrelated female in a public space.

Now on to the point.

Enough is enough, get your shit together. Look I know this little crisis presents a great buying opportunity for your fund managers, but for the rest of us its getting, you know, to be a pain in the ass.

There are 151,400,000 males in the nation and YOU are becoming a pain in our ass. Since there doesn't seem to be much that motivates you to get your shit together, elections, the threat of an economic disaster, looking like f*ucktards who don't know the difference between the words interpret and interrupt. You know, its hardly fair that we have a giant pain in our ass and you get off scott free.

So I'm starting a movement so to speak, a movement that if you don't get your shit together by Friday afternoon, we the men of the nation are going to get in a line and ass rape every single one of you and we each get a turn.

Subtracting the 437 male members of congress, I added in Barack Obama and Joe Biden as well. Now dividing that by the male population that's 346,453 consecutive ass rapings each of you will have to endure.

But if you notice my math is a bit off. Because the answer was only 346,452 ass rapings not 346,453. The difference is that we've decided by popular vote to let Mr. T go twice on each of you, both first and last.

So you will start with Mr. T and when you see Mr. T again at least you'll have the comfort of knowing its almost over.

We certainly hope that motivates you, our public servants, to do your effing jobs.

Ladies, our apologies, you may now rejoin our regularly scheduled programming.

Update: Its not as if turn about isn't fair play.

FUBAR: DOD Refusing to Pay Death Benefits Because of "Shut Down" UPDATE: Obama Intentionally Withholding Benefits

If this doesn't make you mad, you hate America. No, I'm not kidding.

Go to the link. It's not hypothetical. A ranger unit was attacked over the weekend in Afghanistan with heavy casualties. The families of those who just made the ultimate sacrifice are getting an IOU.

This is insane. It's ass kicking time.

UPDATE: It gets worse. This in from the House Armed Services Committee:

We flagged this early last week. Chairman Joe Wilson from South Carolina runs our military personnel subcommittee and sent this letter up to Secretary Hagel on Friday.

In it, we attached the list of pay and benefits that are included in the Pay Our Military Act. See the list below the letter. The House interrupted this as including the Death Gratuity. The Obama Administration chose to read it as not including the Death Gratuity.

So now we are working to give them the specific authorization for Death Gratuity in shutdown. I'd expect that bill to hit the floor very soon.

So, how far will the Obama Admin go to make the partial shutdown as inconvenient as possible? So far they're willing to deny death benefits for fallen soldiers, even though Congress already authorized the paying of those benefits.

Obama is trying to be an asshole. He succeeded.

But Smarter Than The Average Bear!

Amerikans R dum:

It’s long been known that America’s school kids haven’t measured well compared with international peers. Now, there’s a new twist: Adults don’t either.

In math, reading and problem-solving using technology – all skills considered critical for global competitiveness and economic strength – American adults scored below the international average on a global test, according to results released Tuesday.

The leftist agenda of dumbing down America so no one gets hurt feelings is now complete.

Muslim Countries Developing 'Gaydar' to Protect Borders from the Gays

If you actually could make a machine that detected the gayness I'm pretty sure that 80% of men in Saudi Arabia would set the thing off. How else do you explain the fact that they hate looking at women so much that they force them to remain covered at all times in public?

A medical test being developed by Kuwait will be used to 'detect' homosexuals and prevent them from entering the country – or any of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), according to a Kuwaiti government official....

He told Kuwait newspaper Al Rai: ‘Health centres conduct the routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries. However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states.’

Okay, I'm not saying that everyone in the Gulf states are all the way gay. Just, you know, pretty gay. Like a 7 or 8 on the gay scale.

Christopher Cruz Thinks You're an Idiot

Assmagot please, just shut your lying mouth.

Meanwhile, Christopher Cruz, 28, who allegedly started the chain of events by slowing down his bike to let his pals ahead — leaving Lien to bump his car into him — said in an interview aired Monday that he felt no responsibility.
“I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were,” he told ABC News. “I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn’t brake, but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn’t slow down at all and bumped me.”
And also I'm really the Queen of England.

NY Biker Beatdown: NYPD Cop Helped In Attack!

This is good news and this is bad news.

The bad news is that at least one of the NYPD cops riding with the bikers was physically involved with the beating of Alexian Lien:

An off-duty undercover cop who had claimed he took no active role as fellow bikers pulled a Manhattan dad from his SUV and beat him to a pulp was actually pounding the vehicle with his fists at the height of the bloody road-rage attack, sources told The Post.

The cop, a seven-year veteran, had told investigators he didn’t help the injured man because he rode up to the scene as the beating was nearly over, sources said.

But video footage clearly shows otherwise, disgusted sources said Monday — and Internal Affairs Bureau higher-ups want to nail the officer.

This supports my belief that the officers didn't initially report their participation in the lawless biker rally until the video was uploaded and became viral. Once they realized they might be identified, they had no choice.

The good news? IMO, the Liens now have a mega-lawsuit against the city. Not only did the NYPD know about the biker gang rampaging through the city (police had received over 200 complaints), but now it is reveled their own officers participated.

I hope the Liens become millionaires a dozen times over because of this case. They deserve every penny.

Four of the crotch rocket thugs have been arrested. One had charges dismissed.

The punk who initiated the contact that led to the entire chain of events whines that it wasn't his fault. He says the SUV driver was a big meanie who likes to pick on innocent motorcyclists.

Two raids in two countries net two of the world's most-wanted terrorists

Hitting the motherlode..

In twin raids in Africa on Saturday, U.S. commandos captured two of the world’s most-wanted terrorists – a senior al Qaeda official who allegedly planned 1998 embassy attacks in Kenya and Tanzania and a “high-level target” from Somalia’s al Shabaab, sources tell NBC News.

Word of the dual operations came in quick succession, with the sources first saying that U.S. Special Operations forces captured the unidentified “high-value target” during a pre-dawn raid on an al Shabaab stronghold in southern Somalia, striking back at the Islamic militant group blamed for the recent attack on a Kenyan shopping mall.

A short time later, sources said that U.S. forces also had captured Anas al Libi, a longtime al Qaeda member, near Tripoli, Libya. Al Libi, whose real name is Nazih Abdul-Hamed Nabih al-Ruqai'I, has been wanted for more than a decade by the U.S. and has a $5 million reward on his head.

al-Libi is a big haul..

US Says Navy SEALS stage raid on Somali militants

NAIROBI, Kenya — A Navy SEAL team targeted a senior leader of the Shabab militant group in a raid on his seaside villa in the Somali town of Baraawe on Saturday, American officials said, in response to a deadly attack on a Nairobi shopping mall for which the group had claimed responsibility.

The SEAL team stealthily approached the beachfront house by sea, firing on the unidentified target in a predawn gunbattle that was the most significant raid by American troops on Somali soil since commandos killed Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, a Qaeda mastermind, near the same town four years ago.

The Shabab leader was believed to have been killed in the firefight, but the SEALS were forced to withdraw before that could be confirmed, a senior American official said. Such operations by American forces are rare because they carry a high risk, and indicate that the target was considered a high priority. Baraawe, a small port town south of Mogadishu, the Somali capital, is known as a gathering place for the Shabab’s foreign fighters.

“The Baraawe raid was planned a week and a half ago,” said an American security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity about a classified operation. “It was prompted by the Westgate attack,” he added, referring to the mall in Nairobi that was overrun by militants two weeks ago, leaving more than 60 dead.

Witnesses in the area described a firefight lasting over an hour, with helicopters called in for air support. A senior Somali government official who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed the raid, saying, “The attack was carried out by the American forces and the Somali government was pre-informed about the attack.”

A spokesman for the Shabab, which is based in Somalia, said that one of its fighters had been killed in an exchange of gunfire but that the group had beaten back the assault.

Bikers Versus SUV (Updated: New Images Added)

Scroll down for update.

A continuation and update to THIS post and THIS post.

There is a lot of misinformation coming out about biker attack in New York last week, much of it from the media. (Click the links above if you don't know which I mean.) In this post I want to address the claim that Alexian Lien knocked a rider over and that the most seriously injured biker, Jay Mieses, was only stopping to help a fellow rider.

The original video is at the bottom of this post. After viewing each of the still frames below and reading my commentary, you will have a much better understanding about what is happening in the video and how some are misrepresenting the incident. You can click the image to enlarge in a new window.

At the start of the video, one thing you should note is that Lien's Range Rover is ahead of the motorcycles. Maybe not all of them, but ahead of the main group. This is important because many bikers are claiming Lien drove through their group from behind. They claim he was speeding and driving recklessly, which is why they wanted him to stop.

Here at the beginning, we see several bikers approaching Mr. Lien's Range Rover. One biker identified as Christopher Cruz pushes into Lien's lane. Lien allows him to enter in front of him.

Cruz accelerates widening the gap behind himself and Lien's SUV. Cruz looks back then applies his brakes. (You can see the brake light come on in the video, especially when in full screen.) The bike abruptly slows.

Lien is, no doubt, checking all the bikes now crowding around his vehicle. He brakes quickly, but not fast enough. The SUV apparently makes light contact with the bike's rear wheel. The entire time, Cruz is looking back at the SUV.

Cruz apparently doesn't know the SUV touched him. It is possible no contact was ever made! Cruz continues riding for a moment. Lien slows to a stop. The other bikers begin slowing down and looking back, and so does Cruz.

Now Cruz, reportedly injured with two broken legs, begins "walking" his bike back to the SUV. (That is, he remains straddling the bike while rolling backward using his feet to push.)

As Cruz makes his way back to the SUV, other bikers stop and begin dismounting their bikes. Jay Mieses is one of those bikers.

Cruz has reached the SUV. He gets off his bike and approaches the driver's side door. Mieses walks toward the SUV as well. His family is claiming he stopped to help an injured biker, but up until this point, no bikers have been injured and none are in need of help. Notice how many bikers are stopping around the SUV.

Note the time on this still frame, because when you watch the video, you can see Cruz take a swing at the door or the window of the SUV. (You may need to watch in full screen to see it.) Other bikers have surrounded the Range Rover. At least one tire has been slashed. Mieses is one of many in standing in front of the vehicle.

Feeling threatened and concerned about the safety of his family, Alexian Lien decides to flee the situation. Jay Mieses is run down and seriously wounded. He is not helping anyone, he is not offering aid to anyone, he is blocking Lien's SUV.

I hope these still frames make it a little easier to understand exactly what happened. There is a lot of misinformation out there, even by experienced journalists.

Many thanks to "AM" for emailing these stills from the video. This happens around 2:47 in the video. What you are seeing in the images below is the shredded remains of the SUV tire that was slashed during the initial confrontation.

The motorcycle rider recording the video seems to notice and gestures to the bikers behind him. (That's his gloved hand in the upper right of the second image.)

Nicholas Oresko, Oldest Living Medal of Honor Recipient Has Passed

 photo 1230_zps2c59fbea.jpg

Image is of Nicholas Oresko and the youngest CMOH recipient Dakota Meyer

M/Sgt. Oresko was a platoon leader with Company C, in an attack against strong enemy positions. Deadly automatic fire from the flanks pinned down his unit. Realizing that a machinegun in a nearby bunker must be eliminated, he swiftly worked ahead alone, braving bullets which struck about him, until close enough to throw a grenade into the German position. He rushed the bunker and, with pointblank rifle fire, killed all the hostile occupants who survived the grenade blast. Another machinegun opened up on him, knocking him down and seriously wounding him in the hip. Refusing to withdraw from the battle, he placed himself at the head of his platoon to continue the assault. As withering machinegun and rifle fire swept the area, he struck out alone in advance of his men to a second bunker. With a grenade, he crippled the dug-in machinegun defending this position and then wiped out the troops manning it with his rifle, completing his second self-imposed, 1-man attack. Although weak from loss of blood, he refused to be evacuated until assured the mission was successfully accomplished. Through quick thinking, indomitable courage, and unswerving devotion to the attack in the face of bitter resistance and while wounded, M/Sgt. Oresko killed 12 Germans, prevented a delay in the assault, and made it possible for Company C to obtain its objective with minimum casualties.

NYPD Cops Among Lawless Biker Gang

Now we know why there were no police in sight during the entire lawless biker rally. They were all undercover:

A pair of NYPD detectives rode last weekend with the motorcycle mob that battered a Manhattan dad as his terrified family watched, a source told the Daily News.

The two cops apparently waited several days after Sunday's brutal assault before informing supervisors about their involvement in the high-profile case, the source said. [...]

A second source indicated two or three more officers were riding with the bikers, although their roles in the wild melee were unknown.

To protect and to serve. Isn't it nice to know the NYPD will stand by and watch people get dragged from their vehicles and beaten? Since when is protecting a drug investigation more important than saving a person's life?

BTW, I understand some of you are concerned about labeling these crotch rocket thugs as "bikers." I used to ride, so I am also a little sensitive about the issue. I just use the term "biker" to distinguish between the riders and other type vehicles. It is in no way my judgement against all motorcycle riders.

Awesome: Notorious Online Outlaw Caught Because He Forgot the First Rule of the Internet

The first rule of anonymity on the internet is never post your email address when that email address can be linked to you. It's a classic rookie mistake. I've outed dozens of extremists who did this same thing. And what is this super sekrit tool used to link a flesh and blood human to some "anonymous" nom de guerre on the internet? Google search:

US authorities believe that 29-year-old Ross William Ulbricht, arrested on Wednesday, is Dread Pirate Roberts (DPR) - the administrator of the notorious Silk Road online marketplace....

The trail began with a post made on a web forum where users discussed the use of magic mushrooms.

In a post titled "Anonymous market online?", a user nicknamed Altoid started publicising the site.

"Altoid" was in fact Ulbricht. He was trolling message boards and blogs that catered to people trying to score drugs. He was trying to drum up business for his own website where people could buy drugs and worse -- Ulbricht himself hired a hitman through his website to take care of a guy in Canada who threatened to out users on the site.

On one of the blogs "Altoid" left an email address:

In a post asking seeking to find an IT expert with knowledge of Bitcoin, he asked people to contact him via rossulbricht@gmail.com
Wow, that's a rookie mistake. You'd think a guy running one of the most successful darkweb sites would know better. You'd be wrong.

Purp over at AoSHQ thinks the guy was caught because the FBI has been able to use a bug designed for TOR to get info on users. But if you read the indictment it was nothing as sophisticated as that. Once they had an email link to the suspect, they got a warrant. With a warrant for proxy server's records they could locate the guy's real IP. And once you have that, well, the rest is just a mopping up exercise.

Imam w/ Links to Shabaab Murdered in Kenya: Riots, Churches Burn

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. The real problem here is that his radical followers are accusing the police of gunning the Imam down. I've no idea if this is true, but this is Kenya where police hung around after the mall massacre looting the place -- so it's plausible. The former head of the mosque where this guy preached was killed by the police last year which set off weeks of riots:

Ibrahim "Rogo" Omar and three other people were shot as they drove home on Thursday night after preaching...

Mr Rogo was alleged to have links with al-Shabab and some Muslims accused the Kenyan security forces of killing him - an allegation they strongly denied.

Mr Omar is seen as the successor to Mr Rogo, as he preached at the same mosque - and after his death Mr Omar was given the nickname Rogo.

Correspondents say the Masjid Musa Mosque is known to attract some radical followers.

Muslim cleric Abubaker Shariff Ahmed, known as Makaburi, said the police were behind these killings.

Hold your breath. This could get ugly:
Young Muslims set fire to a church, burned tires and clashed with police in Kenya's main port city of Mombasa on Friday, after the killing of an Islamic cleric his followers blamed on security forces.
These things never end well. Expect it to get worse before it gets better.

20 Years Ago Osama bin Laden Attacked US for First Time

20 years ago the battle of Mogadishu raged on and 18 US soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice. It wasn't until years later that we learned that Osama bin Laden had sent advisers to Somalia to help in anti-US operations. It was his first attack against the US and what he learned from it was that when the US is hit that we turn and run.

It's true that we should never have been there in the first place. Armies are not made for humanitarian relief or nation building. But when you're attacked the only choice is to win.

Let us never forget that.

Bacon Tea Not a Hit With Muslima

Damn, bacon tea, pure genius!

A Muslim woman is accusing the popular TGI Friday's casual dining chain of tricking her into eating a food that her religion forbids: pork.

According to her story, last weekend at a TGI Friday's in Garland, Tex., she ordered a cobb salad but requested that her waiter remove the bacon. The waiter agreed, she says, but didn't appear happy about the request.

Next, Queen says, a different server, who replaced her waiter, offered a free refill on her tea. Queen says she thought this was some sort of apology, but when she sipped the tea, her mouth filled with bits of bacon.

Where can I get some?

Then again maybe it wasn't bacon but those genuine imitation bacon flavored bits of whatever that stuff is. So if your bacon bits are totally fake is it still Haram? If I were Kalif it would be the fake ones that would get the Fatwa.

So glad I'm Protestant, pass the pork chops please.

Hat Tip: CAIR aka WTF.

Islamophobe on Capital Hill Compares Islam's Peaceful Inner Struggle with Racist, Xenophobic, Teabaggers

Breaking! Shots Fired Near Capital

No panic yet, but apparently there is something going on near the capital.

At least according to Luke Russert.

Gun shots in front of Capitol. Cops scrambling. Not a joke
We'll update when we know more.

Update: Mother Jones confirms.

CNN's red banner is calling it an active shooter situation.

CNN has started a thread here. NBC here.

The United States Capitol was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after shots were fired in the vicinity of the chamber. At least one Capitol Police officer was injured, officials said
The FBI was responding to the scene, and a helicopter landed in front of the Capitol. A message from the Capitol Police ordered anyone in a House office to "shelter in place."

"Close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows," the message said.

The House recessed, and the Senate went into a quorum call — dispensing momentarily with its official business — shortly thereafter.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill tweeted: Shots fired outside the Capitol. We are in temporary lock down.

el Grillo has this update
RT @marcambinder: .@abcworldnews says a guy tried to ram through WH perimeter barrier, then was chased to Capitol where his car crashed.
Update: The lockdown has been lifted.

There are reports of a chase that began when someone tried to ram the White House gate then crashed near the Capital At least one officer is reported injured. Also the shooter may have been killed by the police at the scene and there are also reports its was a female. There is also some chatter that there may have been an infant in the car.

All this is subject to change as the facts become more clear. But as for now the danger seems to have past.

Update III: There seems to be some confusion as to if the suspect fired any shots or if it was just the police firing. She may have been pursued after a traffic accident.

Christof Putzel posted this image of a police car that got caught in a street barrier that popped up during the chase.

Clear as mud.

The Blaze has some video of the incident.

Update: Here is a copy of some of the video via SooperMexican.

Update: The woman killed in the incident has been identified as Miriam Carey formerly of Brooklyn and now Stamford. There has been some history of post partum depression.

Her Facebook is here.

She mentions her daughter on the facbook timeline in comments. Although there is no indication of who the father is at this time.

Idella Carey told ABC News that her daughter Miriam "had postpartum depression after having the baby" in August 2012.

"A few months later, she got sick. She was depressed. ... She was hospitalised," Mrs Carey added.

A former employer said Miriam sustained a head injury when she fell down stair last year. When she returned to work after recovering, she was pregnant. She was not married to the father but "seemed happy" about the pregnancy, the former boss said.

There is also some discussion of men, you know, not being honest in 2010.

But there seems to be no indication why she would chose Washington DC, and especially the White House to, you know, go batshit.

"That's impossible. She works, she holds a job," said Amy Carey. She had no idea why her sister would be in Washington. "She wouldn't be in DC. She was just in Connecticut two days ago, I spoke to her... I don't know what's happening. I can't answer any more."

Denis Jones, a friend of the Carey family who told the Post he was acting as a spokesman, said the family would release a statement. He would not discuss any details of the case and would not say whether the police had approached the family.

People who knew Carey described her as friendly and dedicated.

More here and here.

Update: According to CNN Carey's boyfriend who is also the father of the little girl says she was experiencing Psychosis with the depression.

arey's boyfriend contacted police in December saying he feared for the safety of their child, who was 4 months old at the time, according to a law enforcement source involved in the investigation. The boyfriend said the woman was acting delusional, claiming the president had placed Stamford under lockdown and that her house was under electronic surveillance, the source said.

The source told CNN that Carey left a letter addressed to the boyfriend at her apartment and that it appeared to contain white powder. The letter is being tested for hazardous substances.

So that might explain why she ended up in DC, because, you know, the mind control rays are there.

Good News: Guy Who Invited bin Laden to Afghanistan to Run for President

If Abdul Rassoul Sayyaf wins, it's time to nuke 'em:

The Philippine insurgent group Abu Sayyaf is named after him and he was mentioned in the 9/11 commission reports as "mentor" to Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, the operational mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks.

A conservative Islamic scholar, Sayyaf ran paramilitary training camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the 1980s and 1990s, and it was there he meet al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

In 1996, Sayyaf helped bin Laden return to Afghanistan after he was ejected from Sudan. Bin Laden stayed in the country under the protection of the Taliban until the American-led invasion of late 2001.

Hooray democracy!

Cyber War Not so Cyber in Iran Anymore

It couldn't have happened to a more deserving Cyber Commander. It'll probably turn out to be petty crime, but why don't we go ahead and just blame the Juice? They're going to get blamed anyway:

Mojtaba Ahmadi, who served as commander of the Cyber War Headquarters, was found dead in a wooded area near the town of Karaj, north-west of the capital, Tehran. Five Iranian nuclear scientists and the head of the country's ballistic missile programme have been killed since 2007. The regime has accused Israel's external intelligence agency, the Mossad, of carrying out these assassinations.

Ahmadi was last seen leaving his home for work on Saturday. He was later found with two bullets in the heart, according to Alborz, a website linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps. "I could see two bullet wounds on his body and the extent of his injuries indicated that he had been assassinated from a close range with a pistol," an eyewitness told the website.

I, for one, hope it was the Mossad.

If it was the Juice, what does this say about cyber operations? I just had a lengthy argument with a fellow academic about just how bad cyber attacks were. My point was that in a cyber attack no one gets killed, hence there is a lot of overreaction in the security community to the threat.

But if the Mossad thinks your unit is doing enough damage that it merits an assassination (assuming it was an assassination) then maybe the bad guys are getting better at doing harm then I'm giving them credit for.

James Madison on "Holding the Government Hostage"

Federalist 58:

The House of Representatives cannot only refuse, but they alone can propose, the supplies requisite for the support of government. They, in a word, hold the purse that powerful instrument by which we behold, in the history of the British Constitution, an infant and humble representation of the people gradually enlarging the sphere of its activity and importance, and finally reducing, as far as it seems to have wished, all the overgrown prerogatives of the other branches of the government. This power over the purse may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.
Thanks to Tom Elia who saw it on a Facebook thread.

I think the thing that pisses me off the most about the federal government's partial shutdown is something a reader pointed out to me the other day: We're not actually going to save any money with this because when the federal employees get back to work they'll be paid for the time they spent sitting on their asses and getting free popcorn at theaters.

This isn't a government shutdown. It's a paid vacation.

When you dig yourself into a hole dont make it worse...by keep digging

PJ Tatler has the exclusive video of a McDonalds employee who admits he was paid to protest the WWII vets today.

The same scene was reenacted again today as two Honor Flights from Missouri and Chicago arrived in prearranged visits. These Honor Flights were met by hundreds of ordinary citizens and about a dozen members of Congress, who once again crashed the barricades to let the veterans into the WW2 Memorial.

After about an hour, about 20 SEIU protesters arrived on the scene chanting “Boehner, get us back to work” and claiming they were federal employees furloughed because of the shutdown.

In the video below these protesters were marching towards the press gaggle and I was asking them to show their federal IDs to prove they were in fact federal workers. No one wore their federal ID and none would provide it to prove their claim.

Then, remarkably, a guy carrying a sign passed by wearing a McDonald’s employee shirt, which I noted. I then began asking them how much they had been paid to protest, at which point the guy wearing the McDonald’s shirt came back and admitted he had been paid $15 to attend the protest.

The bad visuals continue...

Veiled Threat? National Intelligence Director Claims Government Shutdowns May Cause His Employees To Disclose Secrets To Enemy Governments

It seems National Intelligence Director James Clapper has employed an untrustworthy staff:

Taking the warnings about the impact of the partial government shutdown to new levels, Clapper suggested Wednesday during a Senate hearing that cash-strapped spies might be tempted to switch national loyalties.

Clapper said he cannot "guarantee" the safety of our country if the budget is not passed.

Also in the news, Obama furloughs 400,000 civilian jobs even after Congress passed a bill to keep them on the job. Proving once again the Narcissist-in-chief cares about noone but himself.

Biker Footage Deleted From Youtube

An update to THIS STORY.

This LiveLeaker saved several videos originally posted by one of the bikers involved with the attack on a young man and his family. The videos were removed when the chase video went viral, no doubt because they show the group of bikers riding recklessly and endangering bystanders.

Among things the videos show: speeding, passing vehicles in same lane, using emergency lanes to pass, blocking traffic, speeding through red light, racing on sidewalks, driving in oncoming traffic, and harassing drivers.

The rest of the videos are here:

Honor Flight to World War II Memorial in jeopardy due to shutdown(Who told the Honor flight they would face arrest?)

Someone told the President of the Honor flight of Northwest Ohio....they could be arrested.....buried the lead down at the bottom of the article..

Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio has a trip scheduled to depart from Toledo next Wednesday, October 9.

"We will make the call this Friday to determine if the flight is still a go, or if we will have to re-schedule," Armstrong explains.

He says they are considering going ahead with the trip even if the government is still on shutdown, but when he called the parks service, he was told they would face arrest. "I said, are you kidding me? You're going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn't for them it wouldn't be there. She said, 'That's correct sir.'"

When Armstrong asked for her name, he says she did not give it to him and then promptly hung up the phone.

This will set off a firestorm when this gets out....imagine the visuals ....90 year olds who saved the world placed in cuffs.

American University in Iraq Full of Kurds

Within the Kurdish region of Iraq Americans are welcome... The Kudrish they are so enthusiastic, they want to ask us all about the United States and speak English with you. They are just wonderful, I (Dawn Dekle ) feel very welcome here.
Why was it we didn't give the Kurds their own state again? I mean they do more with their freedom than any of the rest we've tried to help. At this time 50% of the students in American University in the Kurdish region are female.

The Kurds, they rock.

Update: I missed the NPR link, added and also Dawn Dekle who is interviewed is the President of the University which is located in Sulaymaniyah.

Noted Prophet, Author Tom Clancy RIP

Tom Clancy is dead. May he rest in peace.

I've always been a reader. But like many of you, school tried to ruin reading for me. Until the 9th grade when my English teacher included Red Storm Rising on the list of books we could read. I hadn't realized a book could be both long and not boring.

I can't say I cared for many of Clancy's novels from this decade, most of which were "co-written" by Clancy -- which I always took to mean that someone else did all the writing while Clancy banked all the checks. But I think my favorite novel of his wasn't even a techno-thriller, it was Without Remorse. Revenge and justice, always a good theme for a thriller. I always wondered why that one didn't get made into a movie. I blame Ben Affleck for ending Clancy's movie run.

After 9/11 it was Debt of Honor, though, that I thought about the most. The most prescient part of the novel being a kamikaze pilot flying a 747 into the Capital building. A bit prophetic, no? If a novelist imagined this as something our security apparatus should worry about 7 years before 9/11, then a whole lot of people were asleep at a whole lot of wheels.

So, as we fret about federal workers who are getting paid vacation and complaining about it, take a second and reflect on the passing of a great novelist who brought a little bit of joy into our lives.

Good News! Pakistan Releases Mullah Baradar

He was only second in command when al-Qaeda, using his country as a base of operations, murdered 2,977 of our countrymen.

Pakistan Tribune:

Pakistan on Saturday released former Taliban second-in-command Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, a man Afghanistan believes could help tempt moderate Taliban leaders to the negotiating table and bring peace after more than a decade of war.

Mullah Baradar at his capture

The Foreign Ministry announced late on Friday Baradar – one of the founders of the Taliban insurgency - would be released a day later, and on Saturday, Pakistani television reported Baradar had been set free. There was no official confirmation of his whereabouts. "The Afghan government welcomes Pakistan's decision to release Mullah Baradar," said Aimal Faizi, a spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

"This release has occurred because of the Afghan government's consistent pressure requesting that Mullah Baradar be set free," he said. Baradar is at the heart of Afghan efforts to kick-start a stalled peace process as US- led troops prepare to pull out at the end of next year and anxiety grows over the country's security. Baradar was once a close friend of the reclusive Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, who gave him his nom de guerre, "Baradar" or "brother".

But on the flip side, we do have drones.
It's been one week since Pakistan released top Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani, better known as Mullah Baradar, but nobody -- including Baradar's own family -- seem to know his whereabouts.

"We have come to know only through media that he has been released by Pakistani security agencies," one of Baradar's Karachi-based relatives, preferring not to be named, told the Anadolu Agency. "But we don't know where he is."

Have they looked in Abbottabad? Just, you know, sayin'.

Bikers Terrorize Family On NY Highway (Update: Biker Family Needs A WAAAmbulance)

UPDATE III: Charges dropped against biker Allen Edwards, who was seen in the video punching the Range Rover's rear window near where Lien's 2 year old child sat. Police had received over 200 complaints about the aggressive bikers prior to the attack.

Speculation is the bikers were trying to force vehicles off the road so Hollywood Stuntz participants could perform their stunts on the empty highway. [Ed: Updated with link.]

(Alexian Lien unconscious in street after being dragged from vehicle, beaten, and slashed.)

Facebook page to support Alexian Lien HERE and HERE.

Facebook page to support Rover HERE.

Facebook page to support the biker who got his ass handed to him HERE. (Comments are great reading!)

Rest of post moved below the fold.

UPDATE II: Second rider Allen Edwards arrested , facing reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and menacing charges.

UPDATE: The rider who obstructed the SUV's path has been arrested.

Motorcyclist Christopher Cruz, 28, allegedly sparked the wild ordeal after he swerved in front of Alexian Lien, 33, on the Henry Hudson Parkway and stopped short, causing Lien to rear-end Cruz on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Cruz, of Passaic, N.J. — who was riding with a swarm of dozens of motorcycles that surrounded Lien's Range Rover — allegedly cut the driver off and caused an accident, police said.

The biker was charged with menacing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child. He was waiting to be arraigned Tuesday.

One of the jerks who attacked the SUV ended up getting what he deserved pretty much.
Lien hit the gas to escape, plowing into at least three motorcycles and striking one of the bikers, Jeremiah Mieses, 26 - breaking both the man’s legs, sources said.

"The rider was bleeding out of his mouth and nose even though he had a helmet on," said a witness, who asked to remain anonymous. "He was conscious but couldn't move at all."

His dad thinks he a victim.
Meises, the 26-year-old biker, was taken to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, where he was being treated for two broken legs. Friends and family said that doctors feared the biker may never walk again.

"My son just got out of surgery. Now we have to contend with his situation that he will never walk again," Meises' father, the Rev. Edwin Mieses of Hazleton, Pa., posted on Facebook.

Well, WTF did he think would happen? Ooh he didn't think did he. Sorry Bub, tough lesson to learn the hard way, the very very effing hard way. But um, yeah.

Mieses' wife insists her husband was just trying "to help someone." Riiight. ;)

------Original Post Below--------

When I first heard about this story, I sided with the bikers. It originally came out as an SUV plowing down motorcyclists, killing one, then fleeing the scene.

But after viewing the video, clearly the bikers were out of control. Also, it is reported there were only minor injuries, with the driver of the SUV receiving the worst of it from the beating at the end.

The incident starts when one of the bikers closely (and deliberately) cuts in front of a black Range Rover and then slams on brakes in what is known as a "brake check." The SUV can't stop quick enough and taps the bike's rear wheel.

Watch the video to see what happens next:

Woman Arrested in France, Ties to AQAP

She was reading Inspire magazine. Probably just flipping through, looking for the beefcake centerfold:

A source close to the investigation said the woman was arrested around 6:30 am (0430 GMT) at her apartment in the working-class Belleville district of Paris.

The 21-year-old was arrested as part of an investigation by anti-terror officers into a case of "criminal association in connection with a terrorist enterprise," the source said.

The source said the suspect had been a reader of Inspire -- an online magazine published by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula -- and would be questioned about potential contacts with the group.

Whenever we arrest a female terrorist the usual suspects will start claiming that she was framed, "men are touching a Muslim woman!!11!!!", or that she's being raped. Because all women are patsies to the evil Juice conspiracy. Except when they aren't. In which case they're heroes!

2 Marine Generals Forced to Retire for Taliban Attack

Two Marine Generals are on the hook for a Taliban attack on a Marine base in Afghanistan that left two Marines dead. I've no idea if these guys deserve some blame, however I will say that in general we are far too reluctant to fire people anymore.

And as I write this I know I'm typing Afghanistan but if I'm honest with myself then I'm really thinking Benghazi:

In a rare move, the top Marine on Monday forced two generals into retirement after concluding they should be held accountable for failing to secure a base in Afghanistan against a Taliban attack that killed two Marines.

Gen. James Amos, the commandant of the Marine Corps, said that Maj. Gen. Charles M. Gurganus and Maj. Gen. Gregg A. Sturdevant "did not take adequate force protection measures" at Camp Bastion, a sprawling British-run airfield in southwestern Afghanistan that was the Taliban target.

The Sept. 14, 2012, attack by 15 Taliban fighters caught the Marines by surprise and resulted in the deaths of Lt. Col. Christopher K. Raible, 40, and Sgt. Bradley W. Atwell, 27. The Taliban also destroyed six Marine Harrier fighter jets valued at $200 million and badly damaged others. It was one of the most stunning and damaging attacks of the war. Fourteen of the 15 attackers were killed; one was captured.

These Men Stormed The Beaches At Normandy - Did You Really Think A Few Police Barriers Would Stop Them From Storming A War Memorial?

Twitchy reports a group of WWII veterans broke through barricades preventing visitors from entering a WWII memorial. The memorial was closed as part of the government shutdown.

As part of the Honor Flight project, World War II veterans have been taken to Washington DC, cost free, to see the memorial erected in their honor on the National Mall.

Due to the government shutdown, National Park Service police put up barriers preventing access. According to Leo Shane III, White House and Veterans Affairs reporter for Stars and Stripes, the veterans knocked over those barriers.

NY Man Gets 18 Years for Funding al Qaeda

Despite the name, Hasanoff holds two passports: US and Australian. Some US papers claim he was "raised in New York", while Aussie papers claim he was "raised in Australia". So, your media at work. I don't have a full bio on the guy, but it looks like he spent his early childhood in Australia, then his parents immigrated to New York.

He did go to college in New York and spent much of his adult life there, until he move to the UAE as a stockbroker. It was there that he hooked up with al Qaeda and began raising money for them. He also apparently did "surveillance" for them in New York at the NYSE, but it's not clear exactly how much of this was "surveillance" and how much of it was "video of a part of Manhattan that is a tourist attracting, in fact, has it's own real time live streaming video right now should al Qaeda be interested".

But he did intentionally raise fund for al Qaeda, agreed to help them get detonators, and now he's going to be watching his cornhole for 18 years:

[Sabirhan] Hasanoff, who entered a guilty plea to a charge of providing material support, including financial support, equipment, and technical advice, to al-Qaeda associates in Yemen, was sentenced on Monday to 18 years' jail in federal prison.

Judge Kimba Wood showed little mercy, shaving just two years off the maximum sentence.

Ironically, the two years shaved off was because:
The chaplain described the “outstanding contribution that Mr. Hasanoff has made as an active member of Muslim Faith Community” at the jail, and said that he had been “a positive model for other Muslim inmates.”

That is a suggestion that the defendant has turned over a new leaf,” Judge Wood said.

Right, because being an active member of the Muslim Faith Community is a positive sign that a Muslim extremist has turned over a new leaf.

I Got a Fevah and the Only thing to Cure it is MOAR SHUTDOWN!!!

I know, I'm a meanie. The federal government being shut down for a day or three means apocalypse. Dogs and cats, sleeping with each other. Biblical stuff.

And yet ..... life goes on. People do what they do. We survive.

It's almost as if American society existed before the Housing and Urban Development Administration. As if kids learned to read before Head Start. As if college campuses existed before Upward Bound.

Me, I feel nothing. No, that's not true. I feel great.

It's about time those who suck at the teet of federal largess start feeling what a recession feels like. That they know what it means to worry about the next paycheck.

But I'll really only be happy if this thing drags on long enough that the housing bubble in Washington, DC finally pops. One of the few places in America that home values never truly went down. And why? Because the federal government insulates those attached to it from the real economy.

While federal employees whine about "not getting cost of living adjustments" for the past few years, the rest of us had to worry about whether or not our homes would be repossessed.

So, screw them. Screw them all.

Me? I'm happy. If only for a day.

Due to the Shutdown Death Fatwas Will Be Delayed Indefinitely

I'm just going to sit around linking Ace all day. Because without Federal support I just don't think I can achieve my recommended daily amount of Fatwa.

But there is a psychopathic, misdirected-sexual-impulse Death Cult cadre of Islam.

And it's really time we stopped pretending about it. I don't know if talking about this fact "helps" or not. I have no idea if it helps -- or how it would help.

But whether it helps or not, speaking the Truth about things should not be impermissible in society. The truth should not be deemed polite.

And the truth should not be required to produce tangible secondary benefits.

Many PC idiots will say things like, "Well, how does it actually help matters to speak the truth about things?"

Huh? Oh yeah. We will resume accepting Fatwa applications as soon as the current crisis has abated.
