Obama: I don't have to seek Congressional approvial for war with Syria, but I will

I just listened to President Obama's speech which took place moments ago in which he laid out the case for war with Syria. He then went on to claim that he had the authority to go to war with Syria without Congressional approval, but that he would seek that approval nevertheless .... after they get back into session.

You'd think a war resolution would be something to call Congress back into session over now. Nah, it might interfere with his golf game.

So, I'm glad the guy who once claimed that President's must go to Congress for war authorization is actually going to do that. Reluctantly? Sure. But in the end it's what you do that matters more than what you think.

What do you say the odds are that the Republicans in Congress will actually stand up to this guy? I'm going with 3-1 against.

UPDATE: Make that a lot of golfing:

Congress isn’t back until September 9th, which means this will take a couple of weeks to accomplish — if it can be accomplished at all.
In his Rose Garden speech, Obama claimed that the Joints Chiefs had told him that a retaliatory strike wasn't "time sensitive". Uh, okay. So now Syria knows we won't strike before Sept. 9th. Reports from Syria yesterday were that Assad was moving troops, equipment, and missiles around in anticipation of an imminent strike. So much so that I heard an anonymous activist on NPR last night say that her entire university had been taken over by troops who knew they would be safe as long as they stayed on campus.

So, Assad now has two more weeks to prepare.

The more important question here, though, is the broader one about national interest. President Obama is gunning for war over alleged human rights violations. Is that his philosophy of the US military? That it is an extension of US views on human rights?

Now, contrast that to why we went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan because that country was allied with a group that had gone to war with us. In Iraq because after 9/11 we thought it too big of a risk to have a regime we were already at war with (remember, the no-fly zone was an overt act of war on our part) with WMD (which, it turned out, they didn't have much of). But in both cases because of traditional notions of what constitutes national security interests.

But what our our national security interests in Syria? The only thing that's even close is that they are allied with Iran and they support Hezbollah, a terrorist organization.

Many of the talking heads now claim that we don't want to get entangled in Syria because we now view it through the prism of Iraq and Afghanistan. That's most certainly part of it.

But they are missing the most important factor: we now view Syria through the post-Arab Spring lens ---- especially the post-Egytian uprising lens. It's not just that we're sick and tired of foreign wars -- which many of us are -- it's also that we no longer trust what will come after regime change. The devil we know is bad enough, but we don't trust that the devil that will replace Assad will be any better. In fact, many of us are afraid of US throwing it's weight into the fight will tip the scales toward people who very well might be much, much worse.

Moreover, we no longer give a damn. Sure, it's very sad that Assad used chemical weapons on children. But it's not our responsibility.

If France and Turkey want to punish Assad, I'm more than happy to let them have at it. It's time fore someone else to be the global policeman.

Most Dedicated Muslim EVAH!

He carried out his own Sharia punishment!

An Egyptian man has sliced off both his hands by placing them in the path of a speeding train to overcome his stealing addiction.

Ali Afifi, 28, was apparently so appalled by his habitual crimes that he took his punishment into his own hands.

The young man, apparently guided by the rules of Sharia law, severed both his hands in his self-inflicted purgatory.

Hundreds of mourners turned out for the funeral services of Delbert "Shortly" Belton, the World War II veteran who was beaten to death as he crossed a parking lot to enter a lodge in Spokane, Wash.

The 88-year-old who was injured in Okinawa was given full military honors at the service, which took place at a cemetery in Spokane, Fox News reported.

Friends spoke of Belton's love for pool and dancing. More than 500 motorcycle riders showed up for the service, described by family as overwhelming.

"I just can't believe it," said Belton's nephew, Ty Bennett, Fox News reported. "It's breathtaking and leaves me speechless, this turn out. How many people just care in the community." (Source)

Court Grants UK Police Right to View Snowden Files, Glenn Greenwald's Gay Porn Collection UPDATE: Contained UK "NOC List"

Remember when Glenn Greenwald got all in a hissy fit when his "partner" was detained at Heathrow airport and his hard drive and memory sticks were seized? A court has now given police authority to go ahead and look at the files.

I'd hate to be the poor cop who is forced to look through this because, come on, you know what other stuff is on that hard drive in addition to NSA files stolen by Edward Snowden:

The high court has granted the Metropolitan police extended powers to investigate whether crimes related to terrorism and breaches of the Official Secrets Act have been committed following the seizure of data at Heathrow from David Miranda, the partner of a Guardian journalist.

At a hearing in front of Lord Justice Laws and Mr Justice Kenneth Parker, lawyers for Miranda said they had agreed to the terms of wider police powers to investigate a hard drive and memory sticks containing encrypted material that were seized on 18 August. Previously the inspection had been conducted on the narrower grounds of national security.

Following the court ruling, the police will now be allowed to examine the material to investigate whether a crime of "communication of material to an enemy" has been committed as well as possible crimes of communication of material about members of the military and intelligence services that could be useful to terrorists.

My advice: just close your eyes and think of England.

UPDATE: From the Blaze:

United Kingdom authorities say they made an astonishing discovery when they detained David Miranda, journalist Glenn Greenwald’s partner, earlier this month at Heathrow Airport.

Miranda had hidden among the 58,000 documents he was carrying some extremely sensitive national security data, and, according to a U.K. national security adviser. Miranda also was in possession of nearly thirty hours of hardcore gay porn, he added

I might have made that last part up.

But all kidding aside, check this out:

Robbins said that the case material included 58,000 documents that were “highly classified U.K. intelligence documents.” ...

The material contains “personal information that would allow British intelligence staff to be identified,” including overseas.

In what could be a particularly troubling development, the U.K. government has “had” to assume that Snowden’s data is in the hands of foreign governments to which he has traveled: Hong Kong and Russia.

That's some "whistleblower", huh? He's carrying around the UK's "NOC list" (NOC = Non Official Cover). I'm pretty sure I've seen a movie or two about how bad that would be if it fell into the wrong hands.

But don't worry, Glenn Greenwald assures us that he and Edward Snowden are too smart to let sensitive information fall into the wrong hands. Trust them.

Good Gun Control! Charles Allen Dixon's Very Last Burglary

BAYTOWN, Texas – One burglary suspect was killed and another was listed in critical condition after a teen watching over his grandmother’s Baytown home opened fire on them, police said.

Left to right Stiff and Damn Neart Dead

Burglars broke into the home earlier this month, but this time the teen was ready.

Police said the 18-year-old woke up to the sound of someone breaking into the home around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. He called 911 and went into the living room with a shotgun to find two men inside.

The teen told police he ordered the two men to put their hands up, but they didn’t listen. He shot both men with the shotgun. One collapsed and died at the scene. He was later identified as 40-year-old Charles Allen Dixon.

The other suspect, identified as 26-year-old Michael McDaniel, stumbled around and ran away. He later turned up at the hospital in critical condition, police said.

Truthloader on al-Assad Chemical Weapons

I don't doubt that the regime or elements the regime have at times used gas against rebel forces that resulted in civilian casualties.

But our intended military actions are not a solution. In fact the al-Assad regime thinks we're out to destroy that capability what's to stop him or a rouge general from using them on a mass scale before that capability is destroyed or against western or American targets?

al-Qaeda in Iraq and Syria Claims Murder of 82 Iraqi Civilians Promises Genocide in Syria

The Iraqi branch of al-Qaida claimed responsibility Friday for bombings earlier this week that killed at least 82 people, mostly in Shiite areas of the capital, calling them retaliation for the execution of Sunni prisoners by the Shiite-led government.

Wednesday's attacks involved car bombs and other explosives that mainly targeted parking lots, outdoor markets and restaurants in Shiite districts in Baghdad during the morning rush hour. Some Sunni areas were also hit later in the day.

A statement posted on a militant website by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the al-Qaida affiliate in Iraq, took responsibility for the deadly attacks. The group claimed the attacks were a response to the Aug. 19 execution of 17 Sunni prisoners, all but one of them convicted on terrorism-related charges.

Yesterday al-Qaeda in the Levant and a-Nusra (Syria) promised to murder women and children in Syria in response to civilian deaths from the Syrian use of Chemical weapons.
DUBAI, Aug 25 (Reuters) - An al Qaeda-affiliated rebel commander in Syria has pledged to target communities of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's Alawite minority with rockets in revenge for an alleged chemical attack near Damascus, according to an audio recording seen on Sunday.

"For every chemical rocket that has fallen on our people in Damascus, one of their villages will, by the will of God, pay for it," Abu Mohammad al-Golani of the al-Nusra Front said in the recording posted on YouTube. "On top of that we will prepare a thousand rockets that will be fired on their towns in revenge for the Damascus Ghouta massacre."

The Syrian opposition has accused government forces of an attack on insurgent-held suburbs of the capital last week where poison gas appears to have killed hundreds of people.

"To the bereaved mothers of the children and the people of Ghouta, I say that your blood is a debt that we and every mujahid (Islamic holy fighter) have to pay," Golani said in the recording entitled, "An eye for an eye".

So al-Qaeda basically just promised to commit genocide against at least two towns, to kill every man woman and child. But so far as we know they won't use Sarin to do it. Just throw acid and bullets, chop off a few heads maybe.

That's like totally civilized you know.

Yet Another Friend of Boston Bomber Indicted

Lying to the FBI: Do this if your cornhole is eager for some company:

A third college friend of accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was indicted on charges he lied to federal investigators, the U.S. Attorney General for Massachusetts said in a statement on Thursday.

Robel Phillipos, 19, was one of the three people who removed a laptop and a backpack full of fireworks from Tsarnaev's dormitory room at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and later lied about it, days after the April 15 attack, prosecutors claim.

The two other students, Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov - both from Kazakhstan - have already been indicted and detained pending trial.

Nigerian Charged w/ Helping Samir Khan Produce al Qaeda's Inspire Magazine

Hmmmm, interesting:

An indictment was unsealed today in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, charging a Nigerian citizen with providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and using high-powered firearms in furtherance of that crime. The United States is currently seeking the extradition of the defendant, Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi, also known as “Abdullah” and “Ayatollah Mustapha,” from Nigeria....

According to court documents, between approximately January 2010 and August 2011, the defendant traveled twice from Nigeria to Yemen to meet and train with leaders of AQAP, the Yemen-based branch of al Qaeda. Babafemi assisted in AQAP’s English-language media operations, which include the publication of the magazine “Inspire.” At the direction of the now-deceased senior AQAP commander Anwar al-Aulaqi, Babafemi was provided by AQAP leadership with the equivalent of almost $9,000 in cash to recruit other English-speakers from Nigeria to join that group. While in Yemen, Babafemi also received weapons training from AQAP.

I'll also note that he wouldn't be the first Nigerian to have helped AQAP out. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was given his underwear bomb by AQAP.

And the fact that he only was in Yemen a couple of times is meaningless: you can produce propaganda for al Qaeda sitting in front of a computer from anywhere in the world.

Al Qaeda Murders Another Suspected Gay Dude in Yemen

I have a better way detecting who is gay in Yemen: if they're in al Qaeda, they're gay:

"Armed Al-Qaeda suspects on a motorbike opened fire on 29-year-old Salem Ahmed Hasan in a market in Huta," capital of the southern province of Lahj, the official said, adding the man died immediately.

He said the man was targeted because the attackers thought he was a homosexual.

Dr. Who Helped CIA Find bin Laden Sentence Overturned

The good news: The doctor who helped the CIA confirm the location of the bin Laden compound had his sentence overturned today by a Pakistani court.

The bad news: they're going to retry him:

A Pakistani judicial official on Thursday overturned the conviction of a Pakistani doctor who helped the C.I.A. while it was searching for Osama bin Laden, and ordered a retrial....

ruled that the tribal court judge who convicted Dr. Shakil Afridi, exceeded his authority when he sentenced him to 33 years in prison in May 2012....

Although Dr. Afridi was convicted on charges of aiding a banned Islamist group, the conviction was seen as a proxy for Pakistani accusations that he had helped the C.I.A. trace Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, to a house in Abbottabad, in northwestern Pakistan.

I don't know why we're putting up with this crap. I'd much rather Obama bomb Pakistan over this than Syria over something that's none of our business.

And no, I'm not serious. I don't really want to bomb Pakistan either. But, yeah, I kinda do, too.

With War Looming and Economy Still in Dumps, Obama's Lazer Like Focus Turns to .... Gun Control?

Wow, is there nothing so trivial that this man won't waste his valuable time on?

Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.

Four months after a gun control drive collapsed spectacularly in the Senate, President Barack Obama added two more executive actions to a list of 23 steps the White House determined Obama could take on his own to reduce gun violence. With the political world focused on Mideast tensions and looming fiscal battles, the move signaled Obama's intent to show he hasn't lost sight of the cause he took up after 20 first graders and six adults were gunned down last year in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

And we wonder why no one in the world takes us seriously anymore.

This is the time at the Jawa that we dance:

Hasan never denied being the gunman and has said the attack on unarmed soldiers was motivated by a desire to protect Muslim insurgents fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yeah, I know he'll have automatic appeals and that we might be facing a mistrial in light of his no-defense defense, but I'll take this as a small victory worthy of a party. Black Guys Wearing Hoodies Enter A Store With No Clerk...

They grabbed several items and...

If you said "stole them" you would be wrong. These four young men proved their good character by paying for all the items, even though no clerk was present:

Four members of the William Paterson University football team in New Jersey each scored $50 gift cards after surveillance cameras captured them at a Wayne store paying for batteries and sunglasses, even though no employees were around.

Buddy's Small Lots was actually closed Sunday night. But the lock malfunctioned and the lights were on, making it appear as though it was open.

Buddy's management got a call from police that there had been a break-in, but upon arrival, nothing was missing from the store, News 12 New Jersey reported.

Cameras showed the men calling an audible, shouting out for a clerk. Two can be seen depositing cash on the counter, one waving bills in the direction of a camera.

I think a lot of people, white and black, would have taken advantage of the situation. But these guys proved you can't - and shouldn't - judge a person by the color of their skin or by the clothes they wear.

But the fact what they did is so newsworthy is a sad commentary on our society.

Kudos to all these guys. They deserve the best in life. Their parents should be proud of them.

Arab Liberalism, Biased Selection, & Why Academics and Journalists Get the Arab World So Wrong So Often

I saw this link over at Ace's and took the time to watch the whole video of Elizabeth O'Bagy from the Institute for the Study of War break down who the Syrian rebels are.

The takeaway: the vast majority of Syrian rebels are liberals who's interests are congruent with US interests, or 'moderates' who could be swung to our side.

It's worth the watch. For what it's worth, I follow the ISW's work and am on their email list. They do good work, generally.

But I have a hard time believing the conclusions of it. We've been burned before. Western academics and journalists tell us over and over again, in report after report, that the vast majority of [insert name of group in Muslim country here] is moderate or even liberal.

Remember those heady days of the street protests in Egypt, when Western reporters turned their cameras towards protesters who said the things they wanted to hear? That this was all about democracy, human rights, flowers, and puppies?

The problem that Westerners have is that when we talk to people in the Middle East we talk to people who share our values. Our friends in the Middle East are liberals. So, when an academic or journalist goes to Egypt they crash on the couch of their buddy who they went to grad school with. The guy they use to chug beers with. The girl they had a brief but passionate affair with. People like us.

And then our buddy connects us with their buddies. And what do the friends of this over educated, Mac using, iPhone tweeting, beer drinking, nominally Muslim guy or gal look like? Why, he hangs out with a bunch of people like him. A bunch of other liberals.

So, our "researcher" gets a first hand view of the "Arab street" which, oddly enough, seems to be filled with people not so different than them. The people we meet at the hookah bar debating the relative merits of ios6 vs. Android's jellybean don't seem much different from the grad students down at the Kebab shop just off of Harvard square.

We conclude from our "experience with the Arab street" that any change will be a change for the better. From a more repressive regime to a more liberal regime. Shiny happy thoughts.

The problem with this, as you can see, is that our contact with the so-called "Arab street" is biased because our sample is non-representative. In order for a sample to represent the larger population is must be random.

I believe this is why so many people were fooled into thinking the Arab Spring! was a movement towards liberalism. Empirical observations made from biased samples mislead the observer to erroneous conclusions.

Politicians on "fact finding" trips make the same mistake. Of course John McCain thinks we should be supporting the Syrian opposition militarily. When McCain went to Syria, who did he meet? Well, other than a terrorist or two accidentally thrown into the mix, he met with the liberal/secular opposition. He met with the people he was meant to meet with. And this isn't a conspiracy, it's just a fact that if a US Senator wants to meet with people fighting the Assad regime and he asks the State Department to make arrangements then he will be introduced to the people on the State Department's speed dial. Al Qaeda isn't on their speed dial, but secular liberals are.

And so, too, do academics. I have to wonder where Dr. O'Bagy got her information from on who controls what territory in Syria? From her interview, if I'm understanding it correctly, she's been on the ground in Syria recently. I'm betting that she was shown around by ... her friends in Syria. See above.

Also, notice that on her chart on who controls what territory that a great deal of it is controlled by the "Syrian Islamic Front" who she describes as "moderates". But listen carefully to how she constructs the term "moderate". In this context, a "moderate" is any group that is not liberal but which is willing to work with the liberals and follow the chain of command. Sure, that's "moderate" in this specific context -- an ongoing armed conflict. But such "moderation" tells us nothing about how that group will act post-Assad nor does it tell us anything about the congruence of that group's interests and US interests. If our only interest in Syria is overthrowing Assad, then by that standard we should be supporting al Qaeda.

What I'm suggesting here is that without knowing more about Dr. O'Bagy's methodology, then I have serious doubts about the conclusions drawn from her study. Especially given the great number of similar studies which have suffered similar researcher bias in the past.

However, let us -- for the sake of argument -- grant that O'Bagy has not been mislead and that she is correct in that the vast majority of those fighting against Assad in Syria are liberals or moderates. A counterfactual analysis. Okay, so, the opposition wins. Assad falls. Then what? Do we really believe that once Assad falls that the opposition will unite in calling for free, fair, elections? That the al Nusrah Front will lay down its arms and become a minor political party in a multiparty parliamentary system? That fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq will, like Cincinnatus, return to the fields they were plowing before all this unpleasantness began?

It's not that I think academics and journalists are lying about what is happening in the Arab world, it's just that their experience is a very limited view of a much larger picture.

Except for the liars. The MSM employs more than a few of these.

Censored31's "Freedom Fighters" Murder Aid Workers

I see our Belgian jihad supporter, Censored31, is back. This post is to remind him of the true nature of the people he supports:

Insurgents shot and killed 12 civilians in two separate incidents over the weekend, including six aid workers employed on government projects, officials said on Tuesday.

The bodies of six victims were found in the Gulran district of western Herat province, said Jamel Danish, media adviser for the ministry of rural rehabilitation.

Five were Afghan employees of The International Rescue Committee who had been kidnapped on Sunday, and the US-based group said it was temporarily suspending operations. It has worked in Afghanistan since 1988. The sixth victim worked for the ministry.

"The IRC is devastated and grief-stricken by the deaths of our colleagues who were all working to make a better Afghanistan," IRC president George Rupp said in a statement.

Every society has its bad guys, the US included.

The major difference between us and them is that we condemn our bad guys, they celebrate them. Take for instance the recent case of Robert Bales who murdered villagers in Afghanistan. How did the US respond? We prosecuted him, and he's been sentenced to life in jail.

We prosecute our murderers.

Now, here's a video of al Qaeda murdering 3 truck drivers in Syria. Let me point out that al Qaeda itself made the video. They aren't condemning the murderers, they're celebrating them.

That's the difference between us and them. Yes, we're the good guys.

Russian Official: West Is Like A 'Monkey With Hand Grenade'

The United States may launch missile strikes against the embattled regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad as early as Thursday, NBC reported Tuesday.

Official Washington, as well as Britain, France and Turkey, is considering an attack on Assad's forces over allegations -- which Russia calls unproven -- that the Syrian government, locked in a fight against a domestic insurgency since 2011, used chemical weapons against civilians in rebel-controlled areas.

Egypt: Cab Driver Beheaded By Muslim Mob

An update to this story. I had posted about violence erupting in Egypt, but new gruesome details have come out about one of the attacks:

An amateur video shot by a resident shows a mob blocking cars, checking the passengers inside. When Aziz's taxi was stopped, one of the protesters noted a cross hanging from the rear view mirror. Quickly, the young man was dragged out and kicked, punched and beaten to death. For several minutes, the extremists defiled the lifeless body kicking and spitting on it, concluding their performance by cutting off his head, which they left on the sidewalk.

Democratic Survival Kit: A Handgun, Brass Knuckles, And Voter Registration Card

He brought his voter registration, but I guess he left his race card at home this time (emphasis mine):

Jorge DelaPaz was arrested on charges of assault in the third degree of an elderly person, carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal posession of a pistol and interfering with police.

Police say on Sunday, the elder New Haven man was eating a hamburger in the Goffe Street Park following a Toni Harp mayoral campaign-sponsored event that afternoon when he was approached by DelaPaz. Police say DelaPaz told the elder white male that he shouldn’t be "in his park where young black kids are playing." When the man refused an order from DelaPaz to pick up a football, DelaPaz punched the man multiple times in the face, knocking him to the ground, police say. Several witnesses supported the victim's account of the unprovoked attack, police say.

Upon police arriving at the scene at around 3:40 p.m., DelaPaz fled the scene on foot. When he was apprehended, police say he resisted and injured the leg of a responding officer. Police detained DelaPaz and say they found a Sig Sauer P239 handgun, a set of brass knuckles and a voter registration card in his bookbag.

Sentenced To Death For A Sip Of Water

But CAIR would have you believe Muslims in America are suffering much worse...

I’ve been locked up, handcuffed and chained, banished from the world and waiting to die. I don’t know how long I’ve got left to live. Every time my cell door opens my heart beats faster. My life is in God’s hands and I don’t know what’s going to happen to me. It’s a brutal, cruel existence. But I am innocent. I’m guilty only of being presumed guilty. I’m starting to wonder whether being a Christian in Pakistan today is not just a failing, or a mark against you, but actually a crime.

But though I’m kept in a tiny, windowless cell, I want my voice and my anger to be heard. I want the whole world to know that I’m going to be hanged for helping my neighbor. I’m guilty of having shown someone sympathy. What did I do wrong? I drank water from a well belonging to Muslim women, using “their” cup, in the burning heat of the midday sun.

I, Asia Bibi, have been sentenced to death because I was thirsty. I’m a prisoner because I used the same cup as those Muslim women, because water served by a Christian woman was regarded as unclean by my stupid fellow fruit-pickers.

Read it all.

When asked about her case, The White House responded that they were unfamiliar with the case and didn't want to get ahead of the legal process. /s

Meanwhile, in Iraq ....

.... 11 killed in a single day:

Attacks killed 11 people in Iraq yesterday, officials said, including six who were snatched from their homes and shot dead, the latest in spiralling violence.
Let's do a little historical quasi-experiment in cause and effect.

Before the US invaded: Iraqis were killing each other.
During the US occupation: Iraqis were killing each other and killing Americans
After the US left: Iraqis continue killing each other.

If the goal of US military intervention in the Middle East is to stop these people from killing each other then .... why do we think this is going to work?

Are We Just Going to Let Little Johnny Syria Die?

Last night was one of those rare times I watch O'Reilly. In his interview with Allan Colmes, Colmes argued against Syrian intervention. To which O'Reilly replied, "Are we just going to let those babies die?"

Colmes was silenced. After all who can be for dead babies, right? Who can allow innocent little children to die especially in a chemical attack?

Of course there is no right answer to that. If you argue against intervention then you must be for dead babies.

Its a logical and moral fallacy that the news Media, Fox included, John Kerry and many talking heads will repeat thousands of times until we interfere.

But the truth of the matter is that babies have been dying in the most horrific manner during the Syrian conflict for 2 1/2 years now. Dead Sunni babies, Dead Shia babies, dead Christian babies, Dead Alawite babies.

Its horrid, It sickens me and has for 2 1/2 years.

Given the number of dead babies any person on any side with a child who has not fled Syria might as well start digging a small grave now. Because If there is one thing Syria has a surplus of its dead babies. A Google search for Syria dead babies this AM returned 29,600,000 results. Dead babies are the currency of the Syrian conflict.

Were those dead babies not enough to act? Why suddenly are these freshly dead babies a reason to make some half hearted effort to punish Assad for these dead babies but not for the all those other dead babies.

No one is talking decisive action to end or resolve the Syrian conflict. And if we do take out al-Assad how many dead Alawite, Shia and Christian babies do we give a pass to the Sunnis to kill?

And don't you for a minute think that any side will hesitate hold up dead babies after American cruise missiles or bombs fall and say, "The US and Obama are baby killers!"

We could possibly degrade the Syrian regime, we might also possibly be able to accidentally on purpose take out a few of the nastier elements al-Qaeda and al-Nusra in the process. A win win if you ask me. But not a solution.

To resolve the conflict will take the US and the West working with Russia together in concert. A huge co-operative military occupation to divide the country between East and West and force all sides to settlement. This requires good relations, no great relations, between Putin and Obama. Obama doesn't have any relations with Putin to say the least. Its just not going to happen. Not so long as Obama is president.

We are not the ones killing babies in Syria but if we continue on this mad rush to just do something, the freshest dead baby blood will be on our hands.

The conflict will still rage on and possibly escalate.

Our best choice for action in the Syrian conflict? There isn't one.

What, Exactly, is Our National Interest in Syria?

I was listening to National People's Radio on the way in to work and caught about 15 minutes or so of a round table discussion on Syria. Apparently, we're about to go to war .... again.

And, yet again, it looks like President Obama will do so without Congressional approval. Remember when that was a 'war crime'? Or when No Blood for Oil protests by three or four people made headline news?

Now? Not so much.

Ah, the good old days of six years ago. Back then times were simpler. A Republican in the White House, when you could only download pr0n on your iPhone at a snail's pace, and when reality TV meant skanky Hollywood housewhores and not millionaire rednecks with beards. I pine for the simpler days of 2007.

Anywhoo, one of the callers into NPR asked the guests an interesting question: What business is it of ours that we feel we have to get involved in Syria?

The round table discussers came up with some real compelling reasons why involvement in Syria is in our national interest.

For instance, did you know that Syria was "on the cusp of the region that produces 50% of the world's oil and natural gas". Mind you, Syria itself produces almost none of it, but it is on "the cusp" of countries that do. Meaning, it's near them.

Apparently, it's no longer "blood for oil". Now, it's "blood for geography located kinda sorta near the oil". National interest.

Another one of the journalists who were on NPR as "experts" (and really, aren't journalists all pretty much experts on everything?) pined in that if Syria melts into chaos then it would affect US allies in the region. The it's in our national interests because of the domino affect argument.

Okay, I'll buy that there might be a domino affect if Syria .... wait a second. Hasn't Syria already melted down into chaos? How, exactly, is our intervention into a civil war that has already killed 100,000+ people going to help now? If we were going to intervene for whatever imagined national interest then shouldn't the time for that intervention been a year ago?

Moreover, if we do intervene then we'd presumably intervene on the behalf of those fighting the regime. If our national interest lies in regime stability -- so that the fall of Syria won't domino into Jordan, Lebanon, or Turkey -- then how does undermining the regime help?

I just don't see a winning scenario for us in Syria. If the regime wins then Iran and Hezbollah win. If the regime falls, then Saudi Arabia and al Qaeda win.

It's lose-lose. If there was ever a window of opportunity in which US involvement would have meant the ability to steer a post-Assad Syria in a direction that would be in our national interests then that window closed a year or more ago.

It's too late to do any good in Syria. That ship has sailed. It sailed the day the Free Syrian Army got into bed with al Qaeda.

Let Syria burn. It's not our problem. We have no compelling national interest in Syria. If the world wishes to intervene, more power to them. Let's see France try to turn this around. I'd love to watch that happen and I have plenty of popcorn stockpiled.

Tough Guys Beat old Man to Death (All Suspects In Custody!)

If you see either of these two f*ckwads. Just run them down or blow their f*cking brains out. Save us all a whole lot of trouble.

WWII veteran Delbert Belton survived being wounded in action during the Battle of Okinawa only to be beaten and left for dead by two teens at the Eagles Lodge in Spokane on Wednesday evening.

The best part of me ran down Momma's leg

Look at how bad I am, I can beat up an old man

"Shorty," as he was known by his friends at the Eagles Lodge, served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII and was shot in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa. He went on to work at Kaiser Aluminum at the company's Trentwood plant for more than 30 years. Belton's wife passed away several years ago.

He loved playing pool, even though he claimed he was no good at it and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge for the last four months. In addition to playing pool he loved working on cars.

I'm so livid, this man is basically my grandfather by another mother. In fact I wish they'd have tried that on Short Man because there would be a .45 caliber hole where their brains used to be.

Update: Fortunately for himself, one suspect has been reportedly caught by the Police. Too bad they got to him first really.

Update: Both suspects, Demetrius Glenn and Kenan Adams Kinard are now in custody.

I pray they never see the light of day again.

Wait, an IMAM aided Taliban? That's Unpossible!

I'm so confused:

A 78-year-old south Florida imam was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a judge on Friday for funneling more than $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban....

A U.S. citizen born in Pakistan, Khan was the imam at the Flagler Mosque, one of Miami's oldest mosques. He was arrested in 2011 along with two of his sons.

Prosecutors said Khan sent money to family and friends in Pakistan between 2008 and 2010 that was funneled to the Taliban, which they say used some of the funds to buy weapons.

And the best part:
Hafiz Kahn was convicted in March on four counts of providing money and support to the group, which the United States considers a terrorist organization.
You see, people who blow up little girls for the crime of going to school aren't objectively terrorists. It's just that the US considers them terrorists.

Who needs al Jazeera when you have Reuters?

"Bad Taliban" Kill "Good Taliban" Leader in Pakistan

This happens far too .... seldom:

A senior Taliban commander, Ghulam Jan, along with four militants died in a bomb blast at Mana village, 15 kilometers west of Wana, the capital of South Waziristan, on Thursday.

Tribal and official sources said someone had planted an improvised explosive device in the village near the Afghan border....

They said he was considered an important figure of the pro-government Taliban organization previously led by the late militant commander Maulvi Nazeer.

I'd like to say it was us who killed him, but it wasn't. Clearly this was the work of anti-Pakistani government Taliban killing the pro-Pakistani government Taliban leader.

The last "good Taliban" that was killed was killed by us. But when we kill, we go high tech: drones.

I really wish I could say there was a lesson here for the Taliban. Something along the lines of: make peace with the Pakistanis or no, we will kill you.

But there isn't any lesson here. Other than that Pakistan is one effed up place. And if you just learned that lesson, then you are at least three standard deviations to the left of average intelligence. What we in statistics call the Biden zone.

Al Qaeda Types Fire 4 Rockets at Israel

Luckily, these people are retarded and no one was killed. Thank God for small favors and inbred genes. Generations and generations of inbred genes:

Four rockets fired from southern Lebanon targeted northern Israel on Thursday afternoon, setting off air raid sirens in Acre, Nahariya, and additional areas in the Western Galilee and sending frightened local residents fleeing for cover.

There were no injuries in the attack, Magen David Adom paramedics said....

Global jihad elements in Lebanon, not Hezbollah, fired the rockets, according to the army's initial assessments.

"Global jihad elements" is a euphemism for Sunni militants with al Qaeda ties or sympathies.

One of the rockets was shot down by Israel's "Iron Dome" defense system, but the other three got through.

Hey Israel, buddy: you're in our prayers.

In related news, not only is Pink Floyd's music pretentious and overbearing, they're also a bunch of assh*les that hate Israel. Seriously, name a Pink Floys song that doesn't go on and on and on and on and on .....

Show me a guy who has actually sat through The Wall and I'll show you a stoner who can't tell the difference between drugged out musing and insightful philosophy.

But luckily, Bar Rafaeli is on the case.

Good News! DHS Employee In Charge of Weapons Procurement's Website We're Going to Have to Kill a Lot of White People

The Atlantic:

A Department of Homeland Security employee who works on, among other things, the procurement of guns and ammunition for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, spends his nights and weekends preparing for a coming race war and advocating for anti-gay causes, according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center. Meet Ayo Kimathi, a.k.a. “the Irritated Genie," who told his bosses at the DHS that his anti-white, anti-gay site, "War is on the Horizon," was just an entertainment site that sells concert and lecture videos.

You see, DHS employees, even those with office jobs like Kimathi's, have to get outside activities approved by their supervisors, according to the SPLC. Kimathi's former supervisor told the watchdog group, which tracks hate speech and groups in the U.S., that despite her former employee's banal description of his extracurricular activities, the actual content of the site left her "stunned." She continued: “To see the hate, to know that he is a federal employee, it bothered me." She added that had Kimathi's site been accurately described to the agency, there's no way the DHS would have signed off on it. Possibly to keep his bosses from looking up his work, Kimathi used only the site's acronym, WOH, in his permission request. In addition to his involvement in the purchase of ICE supplies, Kimathi also had a public profile for the agency, speaking at vendor events. As "Irritated Genie," Kimathi also has a public profile as a black supremacist advocate.

in order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our christian hearts can possibly count." Kimathi also says that whites are attempting to “homosexualize” black men to somehow make them weaker, and therefore easier pickings for racism. He also offers helpful hints on how “Black women in the world [can] understand what she needs to do to keep a strong Black man happy.”

Manning Lawyer Wants to Force Taxpayers to Pay for Convict's Sex Change

If you want to cut off your schlong, get fake boobs, and shoot yourself up with some hormones so you can convince yourself and other stupid people that you're a "woman" --- more power to you. I think people ought to be allowed to do disgusting, idiotic things. It's called liberty.

But when you want to force me to pay for your silliness, I draw a line:

One day after being sentenced to 35 years in prison for the largest leak of classified documents in U.S. history, the Army private the world knows as Bradley Manning issued a statement about who she really is. "As I transition into this next phase of my life, I want everyone to know the real me. I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female," Manning wrote in a statement read on the Today show. "Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition. I also request that, starting today, you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun (except in official mail to the confinement facility)."
The letter is signed Chelsea E. Manning, and thanks supporters for raising awareness of her case.

Manning is likely to serve her time at Fort Leavenworth, which doesn't offer hormone therapy or sex-reassignment surgery to prisoners, as reported by Courthouse News. David Coombs, Manning's lawyer, was not sure if Fort Leavenworth would offer Manning hormone therapy, though he said on Today that he was "hoping" the prison "would do the right thing."

"If Fort Leavenworth does not, then I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure they are forced to do so," Coombs said, according to the Today website. It's not clear whether Manning will be imprisoned in the male or female population. In U.S. prisons in general, transgender inmates are typically classified by their officially assigned gender, rather than the gender with which they identify.

Not only do I want to kick this lawyers ass, but I'd throw in the Rolling Stone reporter who used the term "officially assigned gender". What the f*ck is that?

You know who "officially assigned" Bradley Manning's "gender"? His name was either God or Charles Darwin. Take your pick.

Proof there is a God: The Donut Burger!

Three reasons why America is the greatest country on the planet:

Muslim Insults That Other Prophet
Other Muslims Fail to Riot

What's up with that, its almost as if Muslims don't care about Isa?

Investigative Project:

Amjad Qourshah, an Islamic studies professor at the University of Amman in Jordan with ties to the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), has unleashed a tirade of anti-Christian venom against Egypt's Copts, accusing them of burning their own churches.

His Facebook tirade, translated here by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, also included an image of Jesus that is reminiscent of the 2006 Danish cartoon depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban.

In this case, the Sacred Heart image depicts Jesus with an AK-47 over his shoulder with a bomb halo surrounding his head, saying "Jesus says: 'Sell your clothes and buy arms." The caption above the image says: "The way to hypocrisy For the Orthodox Copts."

Well Jesus actually says, "Turn your other cheek".

The Copts in Egypt have turned the other cheek until they've run out of cheeks.
At that point its perfectly acceptable to hand the Muslim Botherhood's ass to them.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

Swedish Women Don Headscarfs In Solidarity With Muslimah Who Had Headscarf Pulled Off (Bumped & Updated - Hoax?)

UPDATE: A caller to a Swedish Radio talk show claims he witnessed the assault. He says the woman's own husband beat her, apparently for staying away from home for too long (via Google Translate):

SCAM? Ali from Fagersjö calling to Islam apologist and SD hater Cissi Wallin on Radio 1 and tells what likely happened when a Muslim woman was subjected to what is alleged to be a hate crime in the area on Friday, and that was taken as a pretext to stage a "hijabupprop" .

Ali and his friends became the witness to the incident by the media and hihabuppropets promoters described as a pregnant migrant woman in Islamic veil got his head pounded in the hood of a car by a Swedish racist. According to Ali, it was the woman's husband with the same ethnic background who went to the woman because she has been away from home for too long.

Women should be according to Ali and his friends at the time, barbecued and played football in the immediate vicinity nor incur any serious injuries, but could leave the scene under its own power, not in the ambulance as stated in the media. Ali says that hijabtjejernas story falls on its face because it did not live a few Swedes in the area.

He also thinks that it is bad that girls exposed to violence but that this in no way affects exclusively Muslim girls in veil. While Swedish girls and Syrian Christian girls get into trouble. Should we implement this kind of campaign hihabuppropet, you should do it in a fair way, says Ali, not by making up fake stories.

(I know the Google translate is not perfect, especially where is calls for barbecuing women! But until I find a better translation, this is it. If any visitors or readers can offer a better translation, please do.)

Clip of radio segment:

Original post:

No word on whether these same Swedish women will do anything to show solidarity with Copt women being brutalized by Muslim men or the increasing rape victims of Muslim immigrants.

Swedish women have been posting photos of themselves in traditional Muslim headscarves in solidarity with a woman attacked apparently for wearing a veil.

Among the protesters from various faiths were politicians and TV hosts.

The "hijab outcry" campaigners urged the government to "ensure that Swedish Muslim women are guaranteed the right to... religious freedom".

The victim was taken to hospital after the attacker tore off her hijab and hit her head against a car on Saturday.

The assailant also shouted racist insults at the woman - who was pregnant - during the attack on Saturday in a Stockholm suburb, the victim's friends told Sweden's media.

Story sound familiar? It should. It happened before, but in France:

A young pregnant Muslim woman, who was allegedly attacked in the street for wearing a veil has lost her baby, her lawyer announced on Monday. [...]

In reporting the attack to police she described how she was set upon on Thursday morning by two men in the middle of the street, just after she had finished talking to her mother on the telephone.

She initially blamed the attack on two "skinheads", saying the two men "ripped the veil" from her head and tore part of her clothing.

The prosecutor for Pointoise, Yves Jannier, also said the woman had been kicked in the hip before she managed to flee.

French daily Le Parisien said police sources had some concerns over "inconsistencies" in her account.

A little too familiar if you ask me.

Student in Organizing For America Voter Drive Behind Racist Anti-Semitic Incidents

I'm not really sure what a atheist/pacifist/environmentalist/libertarian socialist/consequentialist is but its pretty f*cked up:

One of the two students removed from Oberlin College earlier this year for allegedly circulating virulently racist, anti-Jewish and anti-gay messages around campus is an ardent leftist and committed supporter of President Obama, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

Dylan Bleier, one of the two students, hosted a voter registration drive in a Walmart parking lot sponsored by Organizing for Action, the community organizing project that advances the agenda of President Obama.

The Oberlin Police Department identified Bleier and his partner in the spree, Matt Alden, as two of the principal architects of a month-long spate of racist, anti-Jewish and anti-gay messages at the small, private campus.

On his now-defunct LinkedIn page, Bleier noted that he was the founder and president of the Ithaca High School for Obama club. He also identified himself as a member of the Oberlin College Democrats.

A SCHOOL in Pakistan Trains al Qaeda? That's Unpossible!

Every few months a skirmish between Pakistani and Indian border troops flares up. One is happening as I write this:

A Pakistani military official accused Indian troops of "unprovoked" shelling starting at 11:15 p.m. local time Tuesday night in Shakma sector in Pakistan-held Kashmir, across the border from Kargil on the Indian side. An army captain was killed and another soldier was seriously wounded. Pakistani troops responded to the shelling, and the exchange of fire continued for three hours, the official said.

An Indian army officer said Indian troops in Kargil only responded after Pakistani soldiers fired upon their positions using mortars and automatic weapons. The officials both spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military policy.

Every time I hear about these little border skirmishes, I say to myself, Self, I really hope this turns into all out war and the Pakistanis suffer. I mean, really suffer.

And then I read stuff like this, and my fantasy escalates to India nuking Pakistan:

The United States has placed unprecedented sanctions on an Islamic school in northwest Pakistan for allegedly training and financing fighters from Al Qaeda and other militant groups.

The sanctions against Jamia Taleem-Ul-Quran-Wal-Hadith Madrassa, also known as the Ganj Madrassa, in the city of Peshawar were the first to target an Islamic school, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said in a statement Tuesday.

In response the school denied the charge, claiming they only taught their students religion.

Which doesn't sound like much of a denial given the tenants of their particular brand of Islam, does it?

Nidal Hasan Rests Case With No Defense

The good news? Nidal Hasan ended his trial today without calling any witnesses. The bad news? This is going to be appealed. You can't plead "not guilty" and then offer no defense. A trial, by definition, has to be adversarial. So, I see an appeal here and some appeals court ruling that Hasan didn't have adequate representation -- which, clearly, he didn't.

At first I assumed that Hasan wanted to represent himself in an effort to use the trial as a platform for anti-American diatribes. But I was wrong. In fact, Hasan seemed pretty restrained and respectful during the entire trial.

What I think now is that Hasan wanted to claim that he wasn't guilty of murder since he was an enemy combatant. He was a soldier of Allah, and since those he killed were also soldiers no crime was committed. Those he killed were casualties of war.

This is why in his opening statements he told the jurors that he had "switched sides" in the war on terror. And why his business cards had the acronymn SoA on them (Soldier of Allah).

And you know what? I actually think he's right. He's not a murderer. Or, at least, he's not a common murderer. A mere criminal.

He's much more than a common murderer, more than a mere criminal. He's a traitor. He should be on trial for treason. He should be on trial as a terrorist. You can charge a person with more than one offense:

The soldier on trial for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood rested his case Wednesday without calling any witnesses or testifying in his own defense.

Maj. Nidal Hasan is acting as his own attorney but told the judge that he wouldn’t be putting up a defense as he stands accused of killing 13 people and wounding more than 30 others at the Texas military base. If convicted, the Army psychiatrist could face the death penalty....

He has sat mostly silent during the trial and questioned only three of the nearly 90 witnesses called by prosecutors. Several of those witnesses were shot during the attack and recalled hearing a shout of “Allahu Akbar!” — Arabic for “God is great!” — inside a crowded medical building before Hasan opened fire using a laser-sighted handgun.

If this guy doesn't get the death penalty, then there is no justice.

Rebels Accuse Syrian Government of Chemical Weapon Attack Killing Hundreds

I'm not sure what to think of this. On the one hand, the Baathist Assad regime is fully of genocidal maniacs who would use chemical weapons if they saw some overall advantage to it. On the other hand, those opposed to the Baathist Assad regime are full of genocidal maniacs who have no qualms about making stuff up or worse -- killing a bunch of people and then making it look like the regime did it.

So, on the one side a bunch of liars. And on the other side a bunch of liars.

But my gut instinct says ... the timing, it stinks. Assad would launch a chemical weapon attack three days into a visit by UN inspectors investigating chemical weapons attacks? That would be ..... dumb:

Syrian activists accused the government Wednesday of launching a massive chemical weapons attack that killed scores of people in the Damascus suburbs and left makeshift hospitals packed with victims gasping for breath.

The death toll from the alleged attack — which the government strongly denied — varied vastly. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 100 people were confirmed killed but that the number was likely to rise, while the Syrian Opposition Coalition claimed that at least 1,300 people died. The opposition Damascus Media Office also put the toll at more than 1,000.

Of course, the regime denies they were involved. The only way I see this as a bona fide chem weapon attack is if elements within the regime, without the higher ups knowing, did it. Or maybe Hezollah got hold of some WMD. But Assad can't be that stupid, can he? It would be like the Iranians testing a nuclear bomb they claim they don't have the same day UN inspectors were in country.

Any one else have a plausible explanation for this?

The Horror! Muslimah Accidentally Eats Non-Halal Meat

I don't recall ever seeing news about a Jew who mistakenly eats non-Kosher food. I'm sure it happens, but it doesn't become news. And I'm sure some vegetarians have eaten this product. But, again, it didn't warrant a news story.

Yet for some reason, a Muslimah's brush with non-Halal meat is newsworthy...

The product was removed after teenager Fayah Hussain, a Muslim who only eats Halal meat, was physically sick after swallowing a forkful of the food, labelled with a green V to denote vegetarian cuisine. [...]

Fayah shuddered when she recalled the incident. "As soon as I bit into it, I knew there was something different. When I looked into the pot and saw the chicken pieces, I really didn't know what to do.

"I had been fasting for a month. Ramadan had just finished and it was the first time I was able to eat at work - and this happens!

"I felt ill, then threw-up in the toilet. When I complained, I was told this is not the first time. [...]

"Even now, thinking about it makes me feel sick."

All the horrors in the world being committing by practicing Muslims who imitate their beloved prophet Muhammad and this meat-eating Muslimah is sickened to the point of vomiting over a bite of chicken that wasn't slaughtered cruelly enough?

What is wrong with this picture?

CORNHOLE WATCH!!11!! Bradley Manning Sentenced to 35 Years

It couldn't have happened to a nicer traitor:

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning was sentenced Wednesday to 35 years in prison for giving hundreds of thousands of secret military and diplomatic documents to WikiLeaks in one of the nation’s biggest leak cases since the Pentagon Papers more than a generation ago.
I guess the only downside here is that Manning might actually like what his cellmate Bubba is going to do to him.

Muslims Organize Protest Against Islamic Terrorism; 25 Show Up

The tiny minority. If Muslim group plans a protest against drawing cartoons about Muhammad, you could expect thousands.

It is really nice to see this, even if so few.

However, you still have to ask yourself if this group represents Islam, or if more radical elements more accurately represents Islam. The problem is, Muhammad was very clear, in both words and example, of what Islam is.

Unlike the Bible which was composed over centuries and with multiple authors, the Quran was revealed by one person during the course of his lifetime. That means, unlike the Bible in which much of the interpretation is dependent on knowing the circumstances of the specific author, the interpretations and conclusions of the Quran can be isolated to one man.

In other words, Islam is what Muhammad says it is. If Muhammad says it is peaceful, then it is peaceful no matter how Muslims today behave. If Muhammad says it is violent, then it is violent no matter how Muslims today behave. And if Muhammad says his own example is the pattern of conduct Muslims should follow, and radicals are following that example, who represents Islam?

Muhammad did not protest peacefully. He did not defend the rights of others.

Muhammad was violent, vindictive, and merciless. He murdered those who opposed him, whether physically in battle or verbally in poetry. He silenced those who rejected Islam. He committed terrorism to instill fear and further his political agendas. He tortured and murdered in the name of his god. His example is Islam.

It's good that we have groups of Muslims who publicly reject violence. It's good that some Muslims choose to ignore Muhammad's bad behavior and only follow his good behavior. And it's good that many Muslims choose to follow peaceful (yet abrogated) verses from the Quran. But the reality of peaceful Muslims does not mitigate the reality of Islam.

Obama Could Learn a Thing or Two from George Costanza

Wow, I can't believe I hadn't thought of this myself:

We have now had five years of an administration whose defective instincts have resulted in consistently flawed U.S. foreign policy behavior....

My humble suggestion is as follows -- it is time for President Obama, and his administration, to adopt the Costanza Doctrine. It comes from the television comedy show Seinfeld. The salient principle of the Costanza Doctrine is the statement -- "(i)f every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right." ...

I am certainly not suggesting that by following the Costanza Doctrine, the Obama administration will produce perfect policies. But more often than not, the instincts of the president, and his administration, are demonstrably faulty. A quick fix for these bad instincts, and the bad policies that have resulted from them, would be for the administration to do the opposite. Just like George Costanza. READ THE REST

Egypt's Kristallnacht

Islamists on an orgy of violence and destruction (all emphasis mine):

Following nearly a week of church burnings and Islamist attacks on Christian sites, the targeting of Christians in Egypt continued with reports of nuns being paraded in the streets, two Christians killed, a statue of the Virgin Mary decapitated, and two Christian female siblings being groped by a mob.

The Christian Science Monitor published a disturbing report suggesting at least some of the attacks were premeditated, with Christian homes and shops in one village being marked with red graffiti, "vowing to protect Morsi's electoral legitimacy with 'blood'" and mosque minarets blaring accusations that Christians were behind the Cairo killings. [...]

Islamists paraded three nuns on the streets like "prisoners of war" after they burned a Franciscan school, the Associated Press reported on Sunday. A Muslim woman offered them refuge, sparing them a more grisly fate. The AP reports that at the same location, two other female employees of the school, who are siblings, "were sexually harassed and abused as they fought their way through a mob."

(One of the two Christians killed. A Christian Cab Driver is dragged from his vehicle and beaten to death.)

Mosques instigate the violence:

In Cairo, the police attacked two protest camps full of Morsi supporters, using live ammunition and killing hundreds. When the news reached Al Nazla, a local mosque broadcast through its loudspeakers that Christians were attacking the protesters, say residents. Hundreds of villagers marched on the Saint Virgin Mary Church. They broke down the gate and flooded the compound, shouting "Allahu akbar" and "Islam is the solution," according to Christian neighbors.

The Obama Administration has demanded the Christian Copts to stop making life so difficult for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Pray it is so: Boko Haram Leader Reportedly Shot, Possibly Dead

Few men on Earth deserve to die more than the leader of Nigeria's Boko Haram. Let's hope the reports that he's been shot and killed turn out to be true:

In a press statement today, spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa said, “Intelligence report available to the Joint Task Force Operation Restore Order revealed that Abubakar Shekau, the most dreaded and wanted Boko Haram terrorists leader may have died.

“He died of gunshot wounds received in an encounter with the JTF troops in one of their camps at Sambisa Forest on 30 June 2013. Shekau was mortally wounded in the encounter and was sneaked into Amitchide – a border community in Cameroun for treatment which he never recovered from.

“It is greatly believed that Shekau might have died between 25 July to 3 August, 2013.”

One can only hope.

Al Qaeda Dog Biting Assad Hand in Syria

Some may have forgotten this, but many if not most of the jihadists who made their way from abroad into Iraq while US forces were there came through Syria. And when we say "came through" we don't mean this as an incident of geography. We mean that the Assad government actively facilitated al Qaeda movement through Syria to Iraq.

But Rusty, you say, every one knows that Assad's regime is Shia. Why would the Shia regime support Sunni insurgents? This is true, but what this forgets is that first and foremost the Assad regime is Baathist. That would be the same political movement of Saddam Hussein.

And that the regime is also virulently anti-Israel and anti-US. Common enemies make strange bedfellows.

Sure, the political fault lines in Syria today are split along Sunni/Shia lines, but not so just a few years ago when the Muslim world was united in decrying the US "occupation".

How involved was the Assad regime?

Gen. Keane, recalling briefings he received in Baghdad, said the Assad regime actively promoted the flow of terrorists into Iraq.

Syria intelligence services facilitated the movement of al Qaeda fighters from Damascus airport to the eastern border of Syria,” he said. At Damascus airport, he said, they were easy to pick out: “Bearded. One-way ticket. Very little luggage.”

So, where am I going with all this?

Payback: it is a bitch

“Al Qaeda fighters who are back in Syria, I am confident, they are relying on much they learned in moving through Syria into Iraq for more than five years when they were waging war against the U.S. and Iraq Security Assistance Force,” said retired Army Gen. John M. Keane, an adviser to commanders in Iraq.

In fact, al Qaeda kept alive its networks in Syria, according to the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, N.Y., which advises Washington policymakers. It notes in a May 2012 report, as jihadists streamed into Syria, “Al Qaeda has an active affiliate in neighboring Iraq that has long-standing logistical capabilities in Syria.”

When you lie down with the dogs, you shouldn't complain when the fleas begin to bite.

This is why you haven't seen me complain all that much about what is going on in Syria. However this started, with whatever good motivations from the protesters who just wanted Assad gone, this thing has become a war of al Qaeda types vs. a virulently anti-American regime backed by Hezbollah types. It's black hat vs. black hat.

It's not our problem. It's a strange game and the only winning move for us is not to play.

Siti then asked to see Ali’s phone and deleted his entire phone book.

The argument became heated and Ali reportedly killed Siti and dumped her body in the river, Agus said.

Good News! At Least One Bullet Hit Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Right Between the Snot and the Spit

If it wasn't Tsarnaev, I might make a comment about marksmanship or the cost of ammo. Maybe even trigger happiness?

Oh, the wonderful gloried trigger happiness!

Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev suffered multiple and severe gunshot injuries before his capture in April, newly released court documents show.

The most serious of the injuries was a gunshot wound that appeared to enter through the left inside of his mouth and exit through the lower left side of his face, said Stephen Ray Odom, a trauma surgeon who treated Tsarnaev at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

"This was a high-powered injury that has resulted in skull-base fracture, with injuries to the middle ear, the skull base, ... his ... vertebrae ... as well as injury to the pharynx, (and) the mouth." Odom said in testimony given April 22, three days after Tsarnaev was arrested following the bombing.

Report: White House Responsible for Stuxnet Leak

Forget the notion that the media is the fourth branch of government. The New York Times is really just an adjunct of the second branch of government: The Executive:

The Obama administration provided a New York Times reporter exclusive access to a range of high-level national security officials for a book that divulged highly classified information on a U.S. cyberwar on Iran’s nuclear program, internal State Department emails show.

The information in the 2012 book by chief Washington correspondent David E. Sanger has been the subject of a yearlong Justice Department criminal investigation: The FBI is hunting for those who leaked details to Mr. Sanger about a U.S.-Israeli covert cyberoperation to infect Iran’s nuclear facilities with a debilitating computer worm known as Stuxnet....

“I’m getting a bit concerned about the pace of our interviews — or lack of pace, to be more precise — for the book,” Mr. Sanger said in an email Oct. 30, 2011, to Michael Hammer, a senior State Department public affairs official. “The White House is steaming away; I’ve seen [National Security Adviser Thomas E.] Donilon many times and a raft of people below. Doing well at the Pentagon. But on the list I sent you starting on Sept. 12 we’ve scheduled nothing, and chapters are getting into final form.”

Leaks will happen, sure. That's inevitable in any administration. But when the pattern of the leaks all go in one direction -- Obama is a strong President on security -- then we have to wonder if those leaks aren't part of a programmatic political effort?

I think we need wonder no more.

Canadian Government Assures Hostage's Parents that Muslims Won't Rape Their Daughter

Denial: it's not just an American phenomenon:

Back in Canada, [hostage Amanda] Lindhout’s family feared she was being sexually assaulted, but Canadian officials assured them Muslims were unlikely to do such a thing.

She says one captor, however, routinely snuck into her room and forced himself on her....

The kidnappers blamed Lindhout for the escape, even though it had been [another hostage, Nigel] Brennan’s idea. The next day, in a prayer room, they put a sheet over her head, stripped down her clothes and took turns violating her body.

How ignorant was this poor woman who went to Somalia as an independent journalist? Her gig before that was working for the Iranian government's Press TV. It was only months into the gig that she realized that she was producing Iranian propaganda.

I don't mean to blame her for her own victimization. Clearly, the responsible parties here are the Somalis that took her hostage. Killing them wouldn't be justice enough. But to go into a country like Somalia and believe all the warm and fuzzy things you were taught in college about the innocent and noble oppressed people in the world just isn't smart. I'd just as soon hire cult deprogrammers to kidnap my own daughter before letting her go off to a place like Somalia.

Muslim Brotherhood Fulfills Rusty's Childhood Fantasy of Burning Down School

My 9 year old boyhood fantasies often times centered around that old negro spiritual: The Burning of the School. This was the Battle Hymn of the Disgruntled Student long before Pink Floyd came along and ruined Rock n Roll with Another Brick in the Wall.

Of course, I was just lashing out at school and teachers in general. It had nothing to do with the religious affiliation of said school. Teachers were evil. Every kid knew that.

But apparently the Muslim Brotherhood think it's only Christian schools that need to be burned down. One wonders if any of them got their .44 and hid behind the door so they won't teach no more?

Pardon me for taken the burning of a Christian school in Egypt lightly. There's nothing funny about it. But you handle evil your way, I'll handle it my way.

Thanks to Golem Bar.

UPDATE: Oh my, it gets less funny:

A mob marched nuns through the battle-torn streets of Cairo ‘like prisoners of war’ in the latest outrage against Egypt’s Christian minority.

Sister Manal, principal of a Franciscan school in suburban Cairo, watched for six hours as a mob looted the building, knocked the cross off the gate and replaced it with a black banner resembling the flag of Al Qaeda.

The classrooms were then burned to the ground and the women taken away, attracting a crowd of abusive onlookers....

Siblings Wardah and Bedour, two Christian women employed by the school, also found themselves having to fight their way through the mob while being groped, hit and insulted by the extremists.

35 MB Prisoners Die While "Escaping"

This is about as believable as that guy who committed suicide by stabbing himself in the back:

Egyptian police say at least 35 detained protesters have been killed while attempting to escape from a prison convoy, but the Muslim Brotherhood has alleged that their supporters were killed in cold blood and called for an international inquiry into the incident.

There were conflicting reports of how Sunday's deaths occurred. The Egyptian Interior Ministry said the prisoners had taken an officer hostage and died after suffocating to death after police fired tear gas.

"Thirty-five of the prisoners died of suffocation and crowding after tear gas was used to stop their escape," the Ministry said.

We need to be really cautious about news coming out of Egypt today, just like we are of news coming out of Syria. The Arab and Muslim world isn't exactly known for its commitment to truth. Rather, both sides paint the other in the worst possible light and bend the truth to fit their preexisting narrative.

Then again, in this part of the world it doesn't take much truth bending to make both sides seem pretty damnable.

And I don't mean this in the intellectually lazy pox-on-both-your-houses way that I think is often resorted to, especially by the Euroweenies and the Western Left. No, I mean that as serious social criticism of a culture torn between Islamofascism and good old fashion fascism.

Meanwhile, payback: 'tis a bitch:

Egyptian authorities on Monday were on high alert after suspected Islamist militants killed at least 24 Egyptian policemen in the Sinai peninsula, where attacks on security forces have multiplied since the army overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Morsi on July 3.
Like I said last week, we are no longer talking about the possibility of a civil war. This is civil war. It's only going to get much worse before it gets better.

Cornhole Watch: Abdul Karim Tunda

The Indian Government this week arrested Abdul Karim Tunda. A top bomb maker for Lashkar-e-Taiba, because he's a Souless Ginger.

Abdul Karim Tunda, the Delhi-born, one-handed extremist who was in the list of top 20 terrorists wanted by India and was allegedly involved in around 40 bombings in the country, was arrested near the India-Nepal border, Delhi Police said Saturday.

An aide of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim and an operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba who was also wanted for suspected involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, he was arrested Friday around 3 p.m. in Uttarakhand's Banbasa area close to the Nepal border when he was trying to enter India.

Shockingly he was carrying a passport issued by our good friend Pakistan.
He got the moniker Tunda - Hindi for without a hand - after his left hand got severed in an accident while he was preparing a bomb in 1985 in Mumbai.

"He was carrying a Pakistani passport number AC 4413161 issued Jan 23 in the name of Abdul Quddus," Special Commissioner of Police S.N. Srivastava told media persons.

While Muslims Die By the Boatload Fat Jewish Traitor Adam Gadahn Plays Internetz

Why is this waste of Oxygen still, you know, wasting oxygen.

An American al Qaeda militant has called for more attacks on Western diplomats in the Arab world, praising the killers of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on September 11 last year, a U.S.-based monitoring group said on Sunday.

Western nations shut embassies across the Middle East and North Africa early this month, after a warning of a possible militant attack. Many have reopened, and Britain said its Yemen embassy would open on Sunday after being closed for 12 days.

Adam Gadahn, a California-born convert to Islam with a $1 million U.S. price on his head, appealed to wealthy Muslims to offer militants rewards to kill ambassadors in the region, citing bounty set for killing the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, Washington-based SITE monitoring group said.

"These prizes have a great effect in instilling fear in the hearts of our cowardly enemies," Gadahn said in the 39-minute video recording in Arabic posted on websites used by Islamist militants, according to SITE.

Oh Snap: Zawahiri's Brother Arrested in Egypt

We'll call this the upside of civil war in Egypt:

EGYPTIAN authorities have arrested the brother of al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahri, a security official has said.

He said Mohammed al-Zawahri, leader of the ultraconservative Jihadi Salafist group, was detained at a checkpoint in Giza, the city across the Nile from Cairo....

Authorities said earlier that al-Zawahri had commanded insurgents in Sinai Peninsula.

Maybe this time the Egyptian military will do us all a favor and put a bullet in the back of Zawahiri's head?

Oprah: Americans Are Racists Even If They Are Not

Damn it, she was too discriminated against! Even if the lowly shop clerk denies it!

And the rest of you Americans are racists too!

Cooper asked, "It's amazing to me how people from different backgrounds see this." He then talked about a juror "who did not understand, did not feel linked to Trayvon Martin, felt connected to George Zimmerman in a way, but not Trayvon Martin, she felt race was not part of this case at all." Oprah couldn't wait to jump in, blurting, "People don’t feel it's race because people don't call it race... A lot of people think if they think they're not using the n-word themselves, they physically aren't using the n-word themselves, and do not harbor ill will towards black people that it's not racist. But to me it's ridiculous to look at that case and not to think that race was involved."

So, even if you have no ill will or animosity against black people, you are still a racist.

American Muslim Organization To March On Washington On September 11th

To condemn the terrorist attacks that took place on that date in 2001? Nope.

To protest Islamic terrorism? Nope.

To show solidarity with the thousands who were killed on that date? Nope.

To condemn all Islamic terrorism, using the infamous date for exposure? Nope.

None of the above.

The American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) will be marching on 9/11 to protest anti-Islamic bigotry and the suffering of Muslims in America:

American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), which is organizing the march, claims Muslims nationwide have been the victims of anti-Islamic bigotry in the years following the Sept. 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people on American soil.

"On 9.11.01 our country was forever changed by the horrific events in New York. The entire country was victimized by the acts done on that day," the group said in a statement. "Muslim and Non Muslim alike were traumatized but we as Muslims continue 12 years later to be victimized by being made the villains. To this day every media outlet and anti Islamic organization has committed slanderous and libel statements against us as Muslims and our religion of Islam." (Source)

Of course. It is anti-Islam bigotry. It has nothing to do with this:

Up to 5000 Muslims Brothers Dead

Bismillah. Maybe up to 5000 dead and more then 20.000 wounded in massive crime against humanity in democratic Egypt.
You know what you call that? A good start.

Muslim Brotherhood Posts Fatwa on Churches

Pajamas Media:

Incitement justifying the burning of churches was posted on the Facebook page of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Islamist party which ousted President Mohamed Morsi leads, in Helwan:
The Pope of the Church is involved in the removal of the first elected Islamist president.

The Pope of the Church alleges Islamic Sharia is backwards, stubborn, and reactionary.

The Pope of the Church sponsors Black Bloc groups to create chaos, pursue banditry, and siege and storm mosques.

The Church mobilizes the Copts in June 30 demonstrations to topple the Islamist president.

The Pope of the Church objects to the articles of Islamic identity and withdraws from the Constituent Assembly.

The Pope of the Church was the first to respond to Al-Sisi’s call to authorize the killing of Muslims and the outcome of the authorization was more than 500 dead today.

The Pope of the Church sends a memo to the current commission to cancel the articles of Sharia.

After all this people ask why they burn the churches.

Burning houses of worship is a crime.

And for the Church to declare war against Islam and Muslims is the worst offense.

For every action there is a reaction.

Nice little disclaimer they posted on the end there.

How dare those Christians refuse to live as second class citizens and deny the superiority of Islamic domination. For every action there is a reaction.

This is nothing short of the Muslim Brother sanctioning religious persecution and murder of the Coptic minority.

Sharia is the antithesis of Freedom. The Muslim Brotherhood is calling for the freedom to oppress the minority. For them to live as Dhimmis, as the subjects and slaves to Muslims.

Much like the Mahdis war in Sudan a century ago was a war for freedom, the freedom to enslave and trade the Kuffar or the other. They castrated the men and sold the women into sexual slavery.

Freedom, I don't think that word means what the Muslim Brotherhood thinks it means.

Unless and until they are willing to grant their neighbors their freedom as well they are unfit to rule. Sharia be damned.

Exit question; If the ruler of Sudan was the Mahdi? Just how many messiahs does Islam get anyway?

MileStone: Obama Surpasses Carter

Power Line:

Jimmy Carter infamously declared that America suffered from an “inordinate fear of Communism,” but at least, as far as I can recall, he didn’t actively promote or side with Communist movements. Today Communism has collapsed, and America’s number one enemy is the Muslim Brotherhood, progenitor of al Qaeda, Hamas and other terrorist groups. Barack Obama not only tolerates the Brotherhood–”Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations”–but, for reasons that remain unfathomable, he has generally supported it.

Isn’t it a pretty good clue that the people who yearn to kill Christians (and Jews) are probably not friends of the United States? I think the average fourth-grader could probably figure this out, but not, apparently, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

Hat Tip: James.

Featured POS of the Day Christopher Dillingham

Washington state fireworks seller pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he killed his dog by strapping explosives to the Labrador retriever's neck and setting them off, according to the Skamania County prosecutor's office.

Christopher Dillingham, 45, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of a bomb or explosive device with intent to use for an unlawful purpose, a felony in the state carrying a penalty of up to 20 years in prison. Dillingham also pleaded not guilty to charges that include animal cruelty, fireworks violation and reckless endangerment, prosecutors said.

Hopefully one of the inmates can fix this problem and save the taxpayers some money. Because this guy just can't get to hell soon enough for me.

Trolling the Jihad For Fun and Profit

Terrorism researcher J.M. Berger sparked a minor Internet sensation on Tuesday when he invited his followers on Twitter to troll a hashtag used by jihadists — which they did, in great numbers, with debatably humorous results.
And the greatest lesson learned from the whole episode is that the Jihadis and the counter Jihadis get along better than Democrats and Republicans, dog and cats or the entire nation of Egypt.

Go figure.

Why The World Sucks Part 3,665,423

Because not only is Jack Germond dead, there will never be another Jack Germond.

Baltimore Patch:

Jack Germond, 85, a longtime reporter and columnist, was remembered as an old-school newspaperman.

He died Wednesday at his West Virginia home.

Germond, who wrote for The Baltimore Sun, the defunct Washington Star and other publications, was seen as a journalist who could successfully mix hard-nosed reporting on politics while maintaining friendly relationships with his journalistic targets.

When Can We Call it Civil War in Egypt?

638 dead, and it looks to me like this thing isn't going to be over anytime soon. The Egyptian government just green lighted the police to start using deadly force. Which is an odd thing to do, given the number of people who were killed before the police had that authorization. If they're only now ok with the cops killing people, then surely this thing is going to get worse before it gets better.

So, when do we start calling this a civil war? That's what it look like to me.

Spillover: Hezbollah Bombed in Lebanon

The other day Michael Totten wrote an article on the future of Beirut, wondering if in the post-civil war era it could regain the title The Paris of the Middle East? I didn't bother linking the article at the time because the answer seems so obvious: no.

I hate being right about stuff like this:

A powerful car bomb ripped through a crowded southern Beirut neighborhood that is a stronghold of the militant group Hezbollah on Thursday, killing at least 14 people and trapping dozens of others in burning cars and buildings in the latest apparent violence linked to the civil war in neighboring Syria, officials said.

Groups opposed to Syria’s President Bashar Assad have threatened to retaliate against Hezbollah for intervening on behalf of his regime in the conflict. The blast raises the worrying specter of Lebanon being pulled further into the Syrian civil war, which is taking on an increasingly sectarian tone.

I can't imagine Hezbollah will just sit back and take this. These aren't exactly the forgive and forget types.

In Bold Move Sure to Create Much Controversy, Obama Condemns Violence

In related news, President Obama praised high schoolers good grades in spite of the odds and has come down squarely in favor of not letting old people starve to death:

President Barack Obama is calling for an end to the violence in Egypt a day after 525 people were killed in protests across the country.

Speaking from Martha’s Vineyard Thursday, the president strongly condemned security forces going after supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

“America cannot determine the future of Egypt, that’s a task for the Egyptian people,” Obama said. “We don’t take sides.”

I especially like that last bit about not taking sides. I actually agree with it. It's not our fight.

The thing is, it's not as safe a move as you'd think. It's the kind of dick move aimed at not pissing anyone off but which backfires because now both sides accuse you of tacitly supporting the other side.

Knock Knock! Its Obamacare's Ministry of Love

Ben Swann:

According to an Obamacare provision millions of Americans will be targeted.

The Health and Human Services’ website states that your family will be targeted if you fall under the “high-risk” categories below:

Families where mom is not yet 21.
Families where someone is a tobacco user.
Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities.
Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.
There is no reference to Medicaid being the determinant for a family to be “eligible.”

In 2011, the HHS announced $224 million will be given to support evidence-based home visiting programs to “help parents and children.” Individuals from the state will implement these leveraging strategies to “enhance program sustainability.”

You know what they say, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY!

More Mostly Peaceful Totally Unarmed Moderate Muslim Brotherhood Protesters Protesting

Gateway Pundit:

Obama’s peace partners are rioting, executing police officers in the street and tossing police vehicles from bridges.

The Egyptian govt says 43 policemen were killed in today’s violence.

In this video it is not clear if the victim was a policeman, but he was killed by the group of Muslim Brotherhood supporters circling around him. This is just a small slice of the violence happening around Egypt today. They also shot a few rounds from an ak-47 into his dead body, so they were clearly armed from the start.

Talk about kick him while he's down.

Of course you've heard about horrifying moments that vehicles were pushed from bridges.

But check out out this video, the Muslim Brotherhood apparently has its own snipers too because just after you hear shots the driver of this truck runs into a guard rail.

From the Daily Mail you can later see the same truck, burning on the bridge.

But the narrative today is about the "government's deadly crackdown". As if these folks were some 60's hippies inserting flowers into rifles. Its so blatantly dishonest.

Obama Totally 100% Not a Crook

President Obama’s increasingly grandiose claims for presidential power are inversely proportional to his shriveling presidency. Desperation fuels arrogance as, barely 200 days into the 1,462 days of his second term, his pantry of excuses for failure is bare, his domestic agenda is nonexistent and his foreign policy of empty rhetorical deadlines and red lines is floundering. And at last week’s news conference he offered inconvenience as a justification for illegality.

Explaining his decision to unilaterally rewrite the Affordable Care Act (ACA), he said: “I didn’t simply choose to” ignore the statutory requirement for beginning in 2014 the employer mandate to provide employees with health care. No, “this was in consultation with businesses.”

Shenannigans: The Big NC Voter ID Lie

Think Progress:

When Rosanell Eaton was 21 years old and living in segregated North Carolina, she became one of the first African Americans in her county registered to vote, after successfully completing a literacy test that required her to recite the preamble to the Constitution. But now, at 92 years old, she faces new obstacles under the voter suppression law signed by Gov. Pat McCrory (R) Monday. For one thing, she may not qualify for the voter ID card required under the new law, because the name on her birth certificate is different from the name on her driver’s license and voter registration card. Reconciling this difference will be a costly and time-consuming administrative endeavor. For another, she has participated in early voting since it was instituted in the state. Now, it’s been cut back a week.
The big lie is that Rosanell Eaton can't vote or will be required to get a special ID under the law.
limiting acceptable IDs to driver's licenses, passports, veteran's ID, or tribal cards
And yeah I took that requirement quote from another hand wringing liberal. So even they know Ms. Eaton can still vote.

She is registered to vote and carries a driver's license. Under the new law that is all that is required. Also her registration, driver's license and one utility bill would be enough to get a free state photo ID should she not renew her license.

So I don't even see how she has standing to sue in court to start with as she is not at all damaged.

Does blatant political BS lies even bother "Progressives"?

Um, no. No its doesn't. Not in the slightest.

I wouldn't say anything but this is like the fourth report I've heard that notes she has proper ID but claims she is being oppressed.

Mentally Ill Bank Robber's Very First Like on Facebook Was Islam

A man who authorities said was mentally unstable and believed a device had been implanted in his head shot two hostages, killing one, at a rural Louisiana bank before state police shot and killed him.

The hours-long standoff began around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when a gunman — identified by police as 20-year-old Fuaed (FOO-od) Abdo Ahmed — took two women and a man captive at Tensas State Bank branch in St. Joseph, which sits near Louisiana's border with Mississippi.

During hostage negotiations, authorities were able to get Ahmed on the phone with a friend in Alaska, Louisiana State Police superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson said. That was crucial in convincing Ahmed to eventually release a female hostage.

Ahmed had written a letter "detailing exactly what he was going to do," Edmonson said.

"He was mad at people that he said were mean to him," he said. "He had voices in his head."

I wonder who put the device in his head, I'd bet $100 he thought it was the Juice.

Fuaed joined Facebook on May 21st.

His very first "like" was Islam.

Pretty much every post was pictures of himself or about violence.

On July 7th he posted this image. Depicting an Islamic warrior riding a lion.

Lions of Islam is a common meme among Jihadis as well although he doesn't seem to be an overt Jihadis. Much like the Tsarnev Brothers he has other interests which include Hip Hop and Sandwiches.

So its appropriate to note that mental illness, Islamic Jihad or violence and Jewish conspiracy theory are not, you know, mutually exclusive categories.

Not by a long shot.

His brother Amen seems much more active on the Islamic side of things, including activist pages such as "Remove Everybody Burn the Koran", "Remove false pictures of the Prophet", "United States of Arabia" and "Facebook admins are racist against Islam"

Egyptian Security Forces Clear Mostly Peaceful Morsi Protestors

The Telegraph has live coverage the quotes here are in reverse chronological order.Telegraph:

07.17 The Muslim Brotherhood is now reporting that 30 of its protesters have been killed. There was no independent verification of the death toll. Gehad El-Haddad, Brotherhood spokesman, said on Twitter:

07.15 Canisters of tear gas rained down on tents set up by the protesters at one end of the Rabaa al-Adawiya camp as police vehicles, one blaring a siren, advanced on the protesters. A security official told AFP that similar steps were being taken at the Nahda square camp:

It is the beginning of the operation to disperse the protesters.
07.10 BST London (08.10 EET Cairo) Good morning and welcome to our rolling coverage as Egyptian security forces move in to clear protest camps of Mohammed Morsi supporters.

Meanwhile the Muslim Brotherhood propaganda machine is in full swing. Putting out fake reports of dead burnt bodies.

Its not that there aren't dead burnt bodies, there are.

However the Morsi supporters have stated they wanted to be martyred, probably for the 72 virgins reward thingy.

Also the protesters were not totally 100% peaceful. Just mostly peaceful if you catch my drift.

Oprah Winfrey Discovers Quickest Way For Publicity Is To Play The Race Card

I used to have so much respect for Winfrey. She was much more humble during the 80s and 90s. She proved by her own success that anyone could succeed despite racism, sexism, or poverty.

But now she wants to stir the 'racism' pot with her own recent experience, which some are disputing, and she's willing to destroy a young store clerk to advance her agenda:

The Zurich boutique clerk accused of racially profiling Oprah Winfrey is firing back -- claiming the Queen of Talk's account "is not true" and "absurd."

"I would never say something like that to a customer. Really never," the unidentified Italian woman told Switzerland's SonntagsBlick newspaper Sunday, according to a translation from London’s Daily Mail.

"I don't know why she is making these accusations. She is so powerful and I am just a shop girl," added the shop attendant, who has worked at the posh Trois Pommes shop for five years.

"I don't know why someone as great as her must cannibalize me on TV."
The international incident was sparked by Winfrey’s trip to Switzerland last month for her friend Tina Turner’s wedding, but not revealed by the billionaire media mogul until an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" last week.

Winfrey said she asked a clerk to see a $38,000 Tom Ford bag behind a glass case, but "she says, 'No, it's too expensive.

"She said, 'No, no, no you want to see this one because that one will cost too much," Winfrey recounted while promoting her new film, "Lee Daniels' The Butler." "You won’t be able to afford that one.'

I don't believe for a second the clerk said this. She may have thought it, but she would have never said it. These upscale shops, especially in large tourist cities must deal with eccentric wealthy customers of all races all the time. They have to know not all rich people dress rich. It would be devastating to their business to make such a comment to a customer.

Most likely, the clerk did offer to show her other similar handbag, and Winfrey inferred the clerk thought she couldn't afford it. Even that does not constitute racism. I'm sure there are snooty store clerks that would turn their nose up to a white person like myself, who considers formal wear to be the new pair of blue jeans as opposed to the comfy ones with tears in the knees.

So, how - or why - Winfrey added racism to the mix is questionable. Even by her own version of the story, race was never mentioned. But it looks like since America elected a black President, Winfrey has decide to join the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to expose how racist the world really is.

One Voice Out Of Billions

One Muslim expresses outrage over recent acid attack. Farid Ghadry writes:

I indict Islam.

Yes, I indict it for ignoring the terror against two innocent British teens in Zanzibar who were doused with acid. I do not give a damn what the reasons were and what justification those bastard Islamists had to change permanently the good lives of two innocent young teens who were there to help Muslims in the first place.

What is Holy about Ramadan when the Muslim bastards in Zanzibar use it to commit the unholiest of acts?

I am really, really angry.

Where are our Muslim leaders to speak out against such terror and to commit, once and for all, to its eradication?

Where is the King of Saudi Arabia, or the President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation? Cooperation on what? With the OIC's silence, how could not anyone interpret "Cooperation" to mean to cooperate to disfigure the innocent?

Where is the Grand Imam of al-Azhar University, or the Arab League, or Ayatollah Khamenei, or the millions of other religious Muslim leaders?

Where is Erdogan of Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood? Why are they silent in the face of such atrocities committed in the name of Islam?

Where are all our collective Muslim voices to indict these senseless acts not even animals in a jungle are capable of?

And where is President Obama, who quickly condemns violence against Muslims, but remains silent when Christians are slaughtered?

The world would be a better place with more Muslims like Farid Ghadry. But one voice out of billions is never enough.

Jews drinking from Mosque water fountains:

The page, which boasts a surprising 127,000 "likes," writes: "After the departure of poured the Zionists," adding, "the thief steals from our mosque to drink."

So outraged, the page even posted pictures to prove it!

Drone Strikes in Yemen are "Inward"?

I saw this over at Instapundit and am a bit mystified. In a discussion on what the GOPs stance on national security Glenn Reynolds says that it's not a choice between Reaganesque strength and Carteresque weakness. Okay, that's fine. But then he throws in this:

And, more importantly, a lot of the stuff being done in the name of national security — like drone strikes on American citizens, or mass-spying (and mass-lying) by the NSA, FBI, et al.– is stuff that aims inward, at Americans.
Uh, drone strikes in Yemen are aimed, "inward, at Americans"?

The drone strikes in question were in YEMEN. The last time I checked this would be outside the US.

Moreover, they weren't killed because they were American. Their citizenship was incidental. All three Americans killed so far were members of al Qaeda. Two of them avowedly so (Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan) and one of them most probably so (Awlaki's son). Worst case scenario is that Awalki's son was not a member of al Qaeda, but he had the bad luck of being in the car with two other members of al Qaeda.

It strikes me as unfair to call drone strikes on foreign territory -- especially territory not under the control of any actual nation state, such as in the hinterlands of Yemen -- anything other than what it is.

It takes some pretty slippery slope thinking to equate that with some kind of imagined authority to use the same tactics at home.

400 Missiles Stolen from Benghazi by al Qaeda? [UPDATE: Missiles Being COLLECTED by CIA]

Is this true? I hope not. If it is? It could either be very bad, or ... not as much. If the missiles were carted off to Syria, then I can't think of a more deserving target than Assad.

But it seems to me that if 400 US made surface-to-air missiles had made their way to Syria, that we would have seen a lot more downing of aircraft. Something I don't think has happened, at least not to a great extent.

So, I'm having a bit of a tough time believing this:

A former U.S. attorney representing Benghazi whistleblowers is claiming that 400 surface-to-air missiles were “stolen” and “taken from Libya” and are now “in the hands of some very ugly people.” He also said the Obama administration is “deeply concerned” that the weapons may be used to shoot down airliners....

Even more potentially shocking, DiGenova claimed the missiles are now in the hands of Al Qaeda operatives, according to his sources. His sources include “former intelligence officials who stay in constant contact with people in the Special Ops and intelligence community.”

“And it’s pretty clear that the biggest concern right now are 400 missiles which have been diverted in Libya and have gotten in the hands of some very ugly people,” he added.

If al Qaeda had these missiles, don't you think they'd have tried to use them by now? It's been almost a year since they attacked our consular offices in Benghazi.

UPDATE: This just makes a lot more sense:

Michael Ledeen speculated in an e-mail to Powerline that Syria had nothing to do with it; what probably happened, he thinks, is that the CIA was trying to collect some of the heavier weapons Libyan rebels had acquired during the war with Qaddafi....

If Ledeen’s theory is right, that the CIA was actually trying to recoup weapons rather than hand them out, then the scandal is — as it really always has been — about the light security in place at the annex and consulate to defend an arsenal as dangerous as 400 SAMs.

Hey Obama Took Out Gaddafi

And al-Qaeda has been decimated, here's what comes after in Libya. Obama once criticized Bush for having no plan on how to exit Iraq and Afghanistan.

It seems Obama had no plan at all..... unless maybe it was let the Jihadis murder Gaddafi on video, then follow with a Taliban like failed state.

Aaron Y. Zelin via Foreign Policy — A rebranded version of Iraq’s al-Qaeda affiliate is surging onto the front lines of the war in neighboring Syria, expanding into territory seized by other rebel groups and carving out the kind of sanctuaries that the U.S. military spent more than a decade fighting to prevent in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the four months since the Iraqi al-Qaeda group changed its name to reflect its growing ambitions, it has forcefully asserted its presence in some of the towns and villages captured from Syrian government forces. It has been bolstered by an influx of thousands of foreign fighters from the region and beyond.

Then again, Bronco Bamma can't see Libya from his golf cart.

More here on the Jihadist expansion into Syria at WAPO.

The group, now known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, is by no means the largest of the loosely aligned rebel organizations battling to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and it is concentrated mostly in the northern and eastern provinces of the country. But with its radical ideology and tactics such as kidnappings and beheadings, the group has stamped its identity on the communities in which it is present, including, crucially, areas surrounding the main border crossings with Turkey.
Obama, you're doing a heckova job. Maybe next you can totally ruin US relations with Russia?

Damn this kid can tear up a steel ball with a rubber hammer.

Two Sentenced in "Taliban" Drug Smuggling Ring

These guys aren't Muslim and it looks like they had no other motive than to make money .... by helping the Taliban. For me, it doesn't really matter what your motives are in cases like this. Whether you help the Taliban because you are a true believer or just because you are getting paid, in the end what's the difference?

Now, to be fair, these guys weren't really helping the Taliban. They just thought they were. And they weren't running guns, just heroine (more precisely: thought they would be running heroine). So, I guess a four year prison sentence seems reasonable:

Two men on Monday were sentenced to more than four years in prison for conspiring to help smuggle drugs into the United States on behalf of people they believed were part of the Taliban.

Martin Raouf Bouraima, 42, and Corneille Dato, 56, were among a group of seven men indicted in 2011 following an undercover investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration targeting drug trafficking out of West Africa.

Another of the co-conspirators got 5.5 years, and two more have yet to be sentenced.

George Zimmerman Cold Bloodily Shot Trayvon Martin In The Back Of The Head

At least, according to a mural on display in the Florida State Capitol building:

From WFTS-TV via The Blaze:

TALLAHASSEE - A graphic painting depicting George Zimmerman shooting Trayvon Martin was unveiled at the Florida Capitol rotunda Friday.[...]

The painting, "We Are All Trayvon Martin" shows Zimmerman firing a gun at a figure wearing a hoodie, but the painting includes a mirror where Martin's face would be to convey that the shooting could have happened to anyone.

It could have happened to anyone who decided to beat down the 'creepy ass cracka' following them. I doubt that would include most people.

On the Run: al Qaeda Behind Wave of Deadly Attacks

Wasn't I just told that these guys were licked?

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an al-Qaeda front group, on Sunday claimed a wave of attacks that reportedly killed 74 people and injured hundreds in Iraq during the Eid al-Fitr holiday a day earlier.

“The Islamic State mobilized... in Baghdad and the southern states and others to convey a quick message of deterrence on the third day of Eid al-Fitr” in response to security forces’ operations, a statement posted on jihadist forums said, AFP news agency reported.

The attacks came just weeks after assaults on prisons near Baghdad, also claimed by the al-Qaeda front group, freed hundreds of prisoners including leading militants.

Meanwhile, the head of al Qaeda in Iraq is said to be holed up in .... Syria.

And this isn't the new kindler gentler al Qaeda. This is the al Qaeda of the good old days. The Zarqawi days. When they used to take random people out back, call them an infidel, and then cut off their head.

Must Read: Nidal Hasan More Honest than Obama

You have to read this from Mark Steyn. All of it. But here's the key takeaway:

Hence, the Internet petition. Linking to it from their homepage, my colleagues at National Review Online promoted it with the tag: “Thirteen people lost their lives with dozens of others wounded. And now the man responsible wants to claim it was workplace violence.”

That’s not true — and actually it’s grossly unfair to Major Hasan. He’s admirably upfront about who and what he is — a “Soldier of Allah,” as he put on his business card. On Tuesday, he admitted he was a traitor who had crossed over from “the bad side” (America’s) to “the good side” (Islam’s). He has renounced his U.S. citizenship and its effete protections such as workplace-violence disability leave. He professes loyalty to America’s enemies. He says, “I am the shooter.” He helpfully informs us that that’s his gun. In this week’s one-minute statement, he spoke more honestly and made more sense than Obama, Gates, Casey, the Armed Forces Court of Appeals, two judges, the prosecution and defense lawyers, and mountains of bureaucratic reports and media coverage put together.

Hasn't the argument by the Left whenever any one in the military accidentally stepped on the toe of one of our enemies who then cried torture! something along the lines of we're better then they are, we have to keep the moral high ground.

It was the same argument they used for closing Gitmo. But isn't being honest also a moral value we should hold our military to?

When an avowed traitor and terrorist is more honest than the Administration and military brass prosecuting him, then haven't we lost the moral high ground? Why isn't the Left complaining about that?

It's simple. It was never about the moral high ground to the Left. It was always about hating America. Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh, they say they love America. And they may believe it. But it's the kind of love an abusive husband has for his wife: if only she'd lose a few pounds, then everything would be ok between us.

Yeah, he really "loves" that fat ugly bitch. Those are love marks around her neck.

US Casualties "Mount" in Afghanistan

Remember how every time someone in our military died in Iraq the headline would always include some variation of the word "mount", "mounting", or "climb"? As if each new casualty marked a new high.

Which, of course, it did. That's just the way math works. One plus any number is greater than the original number.

Moreover, recall that every single casualty was always -- always -- used as a jumping point in the article which would then question President Bush in one way or another.

Oh, how far we've come:

Three US soldiers were killed in Afghanistan's eastern borderlands on Sunday, US and NATO officials said, the first NATO combat deaths this month.
Not only are these deaths not added to previous deaths -- no reference to "mounting" or "climbing" -- they are the first deaths this month.

But I'm sure the press is going to link these deaths to some Obama Administration policy? Perhaps the so-called Afghanistan surge?

Not even close:

The soldiers, from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), were killed by insurgents in Paktia province, a US official told Reuters.
And that's it. That's the entire article. The whole thing.

These people make me sick.

Buddhists Attack Mosque in Sri Lanka

Yes, Muslims are sometimes the victims of violence from non-Muslims. Sometimes:

A Buddhist mob attacked a mosque in Sri Lanka's capital and at least 12 people were injured, the latest in a series of attacks on the minority Muslim community by members of the Buddhist majority.

A mob of Buddhists, who are mainly ethnic Sinhalese in Sri Lanka, threw stones at a three-storey mosque and nearby houses in a central Colombo neighborhood during evening prayers on Saturday, residents told Reuters.

Of course, given the long history of violence between Buddhists and Hindus in Sri Lanka it seemed kind of inevitable that Muslims would get thrown into the mix at some point. Thanks to Lou Stouch

THe Obama Administration Condemns 'Enemies Of Islam'

The Obama Administration has issued a statement condemning attacks on Muslims in the Middle East:

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the cowardly attacks... in Baghdad. These attacks were aimed at families celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The terrorists who committed these acts are enemies of Islam and a shared enemy of the United States, Iraq, and the international community.

The Administration had no comment on Muslim attacks against Christians.

Liberal Journalist Defends 'Double Standard' Against Those Who Mock Islam

Cathy Areu, a Washington Post editor, doesn't think the right to free speech applies to those who tweet "tacky" messages, even if those "tacky" messages are factual. She also believes you are a racist if you mock Islam, but just being funny if you mock Christians.

And she's still too stupid to understand Gutfeld's point:

I think I lost a few IQ points just listening to this idiot woman. But its good to know she and other liberals will be making fun of Muslims when they become the majority. That might be worth a caliphate to watch.

Tom Friedman: Farmers Are Kinda Like al Qaeda

Thomas Friedman

Is Thomas Friedman the dumbest columnist in America? Short answer: yes. Long answer: hell yes:

Our film crew came to look at the connection between the drought in Kansas and the rise in global food prices that helped to fuel the Arab uprisings. But I stumbled upon another powerful environmental insight here: the parallel between how fossil fuels are being used to power monoculture farms in the Middle West and how fossil fuels are being used to power wars to create monoculture societies in the Middle East. And why both are really unhealthy for their commons.
He goes on to draw some sort of allegorical connection between Western "monoagriculture" and radicals Islamists who want a "monoculture":
What is going on in the Arab world today is a relentless push, also funded by fossil fuels, for more monocultures. It’s Al Qaeda trying to “purify” the Arabian Peninsula. It’s Shiites and Sunnis, funded by oil money, trying to purge each other in Iraq and Syria
Corn farmers are like al Qaeda. Soybean farmers the Taliban. And moisture farmers -- the ultimate in monoagriculture? Well, I guess they're Hezbollah.

But seriously, this guy is a noted "intellectual" on the Left. So, you'd think he would have read Adam Smith.

"Monoagriculture" is just what Adam Smith called "task specialization". When one person -- or one nation -- does one job he tends to do it very well and the thing he produces tends to be much, much cheaper. This isn't advanced economic theory, and it's something that all schools of economics agree upon -- even neo-Keynsians, like Friedman's idol Paul Krugman.

Forget Adam Smith. Even Karl Mark understood this.

You know what we call farmers who aren't engaged in "monoagriculture"? Subsistence farmers. And the occasional hippie.

The defining characteristic of which is this: they are dirt poor.

What Tom Friedman says about monoagricutlure uses more fossil fuels and water than it's alternative is true. Those things do cost more. But what he doesn't tell you is that the substitute for these things is labor.

So, you don't want to use a modern tractor or harvester? Try picking corn by hand or reaping wheat with a scythe. Sure, less greenhouse gasses emitted. Sure, there's less of a chance for catastrophic failure of a crop.

But it's also way more expensive! So, too, when farmers aren't allowed to specialize. Food becomes more expensive. There's a reason farmers in Idaho tend to focus on potatoes and farmers in Mississippi on soybeans. This isn't rocket science, and it's not advanced economics.

If rocketing food prices helped cause the Arab Spring and its consequent unrest in the Middle East, as Friedman argues, then let's see what the price of basic staples like corn or potatoes will be when farmers are forced to "diversify". Which is just another way of saying "planting less of it in lieu of something else". It's more expensive that way.

And then to draw some sort of comparison between that and ... al Qaeda? Because .... diversity!

I'm surprised he didn't try to work in Trayvon Martin into the argument. Because of diversity!

Which once again goes to show that stupid ain't just a river in Egypt.

CIA Killing 'Em All, Letting God Sort 'Em Out in Yemen

You know what this blog needs more of? Drone strikes!

Local officials and residents in Yemen's southern Lahj Province said a drone destroyed a vehicle travelling on a mountain road late on Saturday evening killing its two occupants and bringing to 15 the death toll from four strikes in three days.

The local officials and residents said the vehicle, which was travelling between Yafe and Radfan, was believed to be carrying arms and its occupants were suspected members of al Qaeda.

Oh, and one of these things is related to the other.

The Investigative Project makes a pretty good case for why Pakistani spy Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai should have his citizenship revoked. This guy has been on the ISI's payroll since at least 1990 but didn't gain citizenship until 1994. That means he lied on his immigration forms which ought to lead to a citizenship revocation and his deportation.

Israel Drone Strike in Egypt Kills 5 Bad Guys

It looks like the new thugs in charge of Egypt are a little more pro-Israel than the last thugs. Normally you'd be hearing all sorts of blah-blah about Zionism, sovereignty, and other assorted bullshit:

An Israeli drone strike inside Egypt killed five suspected Islamic militants and destroyed a rocket launcher Friday, two senior Egyptian security officials said, marking an incredibly rare Israeli operation carried out in its Arab neighbor’s territory.

The strike, coming after a warning from Egypt caused Israel to briefly close Eilat airport Thursday, potentially signals a significant new level of cooperation between the two nations over security matters in the largely lawless Sinai Peninsula after a military coup ousted Egypt’s president. Egypt long has maintained that it wouldn’t allow other countries to use its territories as hotbed to launch attacks against other countries.

There has been a low-level conflict between the Egyptian government and militants in the Sinai for years now. The conflict even continued under Morsi, but has picked up heat in the past few months against the military junta.

From a purely pragmatic view, it makes sense that Israel and Egypt would cooperate in eradicating the common enemy. But things are rarely that simple in the Middle East, especially with rampant antisemetism trumping the normal cooperation that should exist between Israel and it's neighbors.

As it stands, states like Jordan and Egypt quite often do cooperate with Israel, but they have to do so in secret. Which is why it shouldn't be surprising that some Eyptian sources are claiming that it was an Egyptian drone that carried out the strike.

An Egyptian drone? Have we been giving/selling drone tech to the Egyptians? I hope not. It's far more believable that the Israelis did this and that the Egyptians, for domestic political consumption, are claiming it just so they don't look too friendly with the JOOs.

Thanks to Dan Friedman.

Newest Green Idea Ban Air Conditioning

Why he want to kill the old, the sick and the very young? And the computers too?

Air conditioning “will be the end of us” and lawmakers ought to pass legislation regulating it’s use, a prominent professor from New York University (NYU) wrote in a Time Magazine article last month.

“Today Americans use twice as much energy for air-conditioning as we did 20 years ago, and more than the rest of the world’s nations combined,” wrote Eric Klineberg, professor of sociology at NYU. “As a climate-change adaption strategy, this is as dumb as it gets.”

“I’m skeptical that American businesses and consumers will reduce their use of air-conditioning without new rules and regulations,” he added.

Klinenberg went on to propose a rule that would make it illegal for businesses to set their thermostats below 70 degrees, arguing such actions “might well be necessary if we can’t turn down the dial on our own.”

Remember the greenies last idea. They lamented the fact that there were only a few native switchgrass prairies left. So they invented Frankengrass a version of switchgrass crossed with fescue that could not only compete against ordinary grass, it takes over ruining hayfields and pastures all over the midwest.

Now its out of control, the state has to drive around spraying Paraquat and Roundup up and down the road trying to stop it. Never mind the fact that no one at all is making a cost effective biofuel from this frankengrass.

Now the sh*t is all over. Its crazy. We spent 200 years replacing switchgrass prairies with things that would produce good pasture and hay. The lefties of course think this was bad because, you know, colonialism.

This field used to produce two cuttings of bluegrass and fescue hay per year.
Now its just bushhogged twice per year.
If you made hay from the above and fed it to cattle you'd just spread the switchgrass to the feed area and every pasture they graze on.

Now, an in a matter of just a few years its gone up in the smoke of an Environmentalist's pipe dream. You can't cut the Frankengrass, you can't kill it, you can't poison it and you can't feed it to anything except maybe bison, give the bison a choice and he won't eat it either.

And now you notice they never mention it, wonder why?

Do us all a favor and stop trying to help!

Some people really hate being PWNED.

So just in case you've been unable to read Jester's latest post, its mirrored here.

Pre-amble: I have had years of people coming at me using sexual ploys to try and needle my true ID out of me – but this is the first time I have had someone come at me using my ‘dox’ to try and actually get sex. This is a hefty post so here’s a spoiler (full resolution download here) if you are short on time, you’ll get the skinny straight away, but I highly recommend reading this full post for context and completeness.

The first thing I would like you to take notice of here is the quote above, please bear in mind that I actually tweeted this exact quote out days ago when I started work on this particular blog post. My reasons for pointing this out will become apparent as you (hopefully) enjoy this latest episode of wacky. So what’s been going on then? Well it seems somebody has taken a little shine to me and is more than a little annoyed that, well, to put it bluntly, I have rejected her internet delivered aggressive sexual advances. Here’s the scoop:

So a couple weeks back I get followed by one @RachelMarsden - I briefly glanced at her profile and saw she appeared to be a National Security and Political commentator so I followed back. She almost instantaneously began to make aggressive sexual advances to me in Twitter Direct Messages while also insisting she knew my true identity. I get this kind of thing a lot, so I just blocked her as another troll/failed social engineer. Unfortunately I find myself blocking between 50-100 lunatics a day and so thought nothing of it. A short time later a person I have respect for on twitter, whose name I am not going to mention, but lets just say his name rhymes with ‘orange’, contacted me to explain to me that @RachelMarsden was truly upset that I had blocked her, vouched for her, and requested that I unblock her, and because it was ‘orange’ requesting it, I unblocked and followed. But that’s a rare occurrence, so I decided to check this woman out, thinking she must be pretty amazing at whatever it is she does.

I immediately saw she’s outstanding at what she does. In fact, she’s been previously recognized the world over as a leader in her field. She’s a goddam convicted serial stalker. I shit you not. Here’s a small selection of her ‘awards’.

As someone once said, read the rest.

Manhattan Judge: Photographer's Right To 'Artistic Freedom' Supersedes Family's Right To Privacy

Got that?

Peeping Toms can now take pictures women and children through the windows of private homes. As long as the pervert claims artistic expression, his right to invade someone's privacy - and to profit off it - is protected.

A Manhattan judge ruled this week that artistic freedom trumps the rights of parents who don’t want their kids secretly photographed through the windows of their homes. [...]

Matthew and Martha Foster sued Svenson -- who likened himself to a "bird-watcher" -- after realizing that their kids' pictures were being used to promote the exhibit in California and at the Julie Saul Gallery in Manhattan.

Arguing that his behavior "shocks the conscience and is so out of keeping with the standards of morality in the community," the couple asked the court to bar him from showing or selling the images.

They also demanded that he turn over all of the images not being used in the exhibit.

But Rakower ruled Monday that Svenson’s artistic freedom superseded their privacy concerns, and dismissed the case outright. (Source)

Islamists Develop Undetectable Explosives

Who says Islam doesn't contribute to science and technology? While other cultures work to heal and save lives, Islamist are working to destroy lives:

Al Qaeda terrorists could try to bring down planes using an undetectable explosive soaked into their clothes, officials fear.

The organisation’s bomb-makers are reportedly developing an ‘ingenious’ system whereby shirts and trousers drenched in the explosive could be ignited when dry.

It would be undetectable under current security measures and remove the need for terrorists to mix liquid explosives on board, security sources told the American TV network ABC News yesterday.

Good Old Boys at KYEM Only Wasted 5.6 Million of Your Tax Dollars

KYEM that's the Kentucky Department of Emergency Management. They spent your money on such things as alcohol and Elvis impersonators. Then falsified receipts to make it appear they were legitimate expenses.

When the state auditor tried to Audit the books, the director Gen. John W. Heltzel threatened employees not the talk to the auditor, lest he would retaliate against them at work.

Lex 18:

An examination of the state agency that coordinates disaster relief turned up massive misspending and abuses of public trust, including $103,000 in taxpayer money spent on liquor, food and entertainment at an annual gala.

Edelen released the findings of the audit Tuesday at a news conference in Frankfort. He reported $2.3 million in questionable spending from the agency, which handles hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grant money meant for disaster stricken communities.

"The report paints a picture of agency leadership that does not believe the rules apply to it," Edelen said in a news release. "The findings raise concerns about waste and abuse that may have gone undetected and jeopardize federal funding meant to prepare the Commonwealth for emergencies."

Along with alleged misspending and poor accounting, auditors accused KYEM officials of intimidating employees to keep them from coming forward with allegations of abuse.

"As auditors were wrapping up the exam, KYEM employees informed them that the director had openly threatened retaliation upon learning who talked to the auditor's staff," the office said in its findings.

The auditors also found instances in which documents were apparently altered to cover up misspending.

The full audit report is here.

All the parties involved were appointed by Democratic Governor Steve Beshear.

Mistakes may have been made," the agency replied, but "no illegal, immoral or unethical actions have been initiated or condoned by the division leadership."

Edelen brushed aside that defense during his news conference.

"There is no such thing as accidentally altering documents," Edelen said. "They are literally caught red-handed here."

I mean what you expect General Heltzel to buy his own lunch on only 80k per year plus his salary as a general in the national guard? Don't you know times are hard?

A friend of Jawa who knows General Heltzel and actually did serve his country describes him to me as, "An arrogant POS".

Update: Good old boy now has a lot more time for fishing.

Benghazi: Why is a Texas Republican Blocking a Select Committee Investigation?

One would think the House Republicans would be pulling out all the stops to find out how and why the Obama Administration allowed the murder of four Americans at Benghazi on September 11, 2012. Curiously, the House GOP "leadership" isn't particularly interested--and has even taken steps to prevent a Select Committee from being established:

Seven hundred military special operations professionals have signed an open letter calling for the establishment of a House Select Committee to fully investigate the murders at Benghazi. Over three-quarters of the House Republican caucus (163) have joined the public call for a House Select Committee. Sadly, Speaker John Boehner’s ally – Rep. Pete Sessions – has been using his position as Rules Chairman to prevent the resolution from even receiving a vote! The resolution has been stuck in Pete Sessions’ Rules Committee since January! Source: See Conservatives move to force Boehner’s hand for Benghazi investigation, The Hill, July 22, 2013

Texans aware of this situation are understandably unhappy:

Outrage Alert: Texas Republican Congressman Holds Up Benghazi Probe

Why can’t we get any REAL answers regarding Benghazi?

Why is Rep. Pete Sessions Blocking a Select Benghazi Probe?

TX GOP Congressman Stalls Benghazi Probe!

Anyone who cares about the loss of four Americans at Benghazi and believes we deserve a more thorough investigation of the Obama Administration's actions should know that House Rules Chair Pete Sessions is the current bottleneck preventing that from happening. Confirmed: US Listening in on al Qaeda "Conference Calls" / UPDATE: AQ Plot Foiled in Yemen?

Did I call it or did I call it? Today the Daily Beast confirmed that the leak which revealed that the US was intercepting communications between al Qaeda's #1, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and the leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Nasser al-Wuhayshi, was in fact an intercepted "conference call" between a number of top al Qaeda affiliate leaders.

So, now Ayman al-Zawahiri knows we've been able to geolocate him. Wonderful!

This leak was either the biggest intelligence eff up since Bradley Manning screwed his own country, or it's the most blatant bird dogging expedition since .... ever. (That's where you let the bad guy think you know where they are in an effort to flush them out and get them moving in the hopes spotting them)

Since I have to assume that the Daily Beast report is true then I'm left with the former explanation. In which case we are so screwed and someone needs to be prosecuted:

The crucial intercept that prompted the U.S. government to close embassies in 22 countries was a conference call between al Qaeda’s senior leaders and representatives of several of the group’s affiliates throughout the region....

The official said Zawahiri announced to the broader organization during the meeting that Wuhayshi had been promoted to “Ma’sul al-Amm,” an Arabic term that roughly translates as “general manager.” The promotion effectively gave the leader of al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen operational control of al Qaeda’s many affiliates throughout the Muslim world, the official said, a key factor that led the State Department to close embassies, missions, and consulates throughout the region. “All you need to do is look at that list of places we shut down to get a sense of who was on the phone call,” the official said.

Also during the meeting, the various al Qaeda leaders discussed in vague terms plans for a pending attack and mentioned that a team or teams were already in place for such an attack.

So, there you have it. Expect this to be the last of such conference calls. Yes, al Qaeda really does read the Western press.

Whatever edge we had on them that led to this intercept just went away. So, thank you leakers and thank you Daily Beast for letting our enemies know we are on to them!

Bastards. And I'm not alone in that sentiment. Ed links to this:

“We just showed our hand, so now they’re obviously going to change their position on when and where” to attack, said Nada Bakos, a former CIA analyst who was part of the team that hunted Osama bin Laden for years.
But the damage is much more than that. It's not just a tactical showing of our hand, it's showing our methods. I wouldn't care quite so much if al Qaeda just picked a new target. But Zawahiri just got a heads up on throwing his mobile phone away and ditching whatever compound he was holed up in.

Update: Hmmm, are the two related? It was reported that Zawahiri asked AQAP to step up attacks. And that the attacks mentioned were rather vague. So, could the foiled plot by AQAP to take over a couple of cities in Yemen be the one that Zawahiri was referring to? That seems to be what Drudge is inferring in his headline:

Authorities foiled plots by al-Qaida to take over key cities in southern Yemen and attack strategic ports and gas facilities, a government spokesman said Wednesday amid a heightened alert that has seen Western embassies evacuated and a new suspected U.S. drone strike that killed seven alleged militants from the terrorist group.

Al-Qaida planned to target the cities of Mukalla and Bawzeer, then send militants disguised as Yemeni troops to attack two strategic oil ports in the impoverished country on the Arabian Peninsula, government spokesman Rageh Badi said.

Other al-Qaida militants would also try to sabotage pipelines to "create panic among Yemeni army and Yemeni security services," Badi told The Associated Press, adding that authorities managed to foil the plots in the past 48 hours.

Here's the problem: this is Yemen. Do you know how to tell when the Yemeni authorities are lying? There lips are moving.

So, this could just be a face saving measure by the Yemenis who aren't too happy that we've pulled all personnel from their country. Round up a few of the usual suspects. Put them in front of a camera. Let them escape from jail a few months later.

The problem with a place like Yemen is that they really do have an al Qaeda problem and al Qaeda taking over entire cities and regions is something that really happens. It's the boy that cried wolf story over and over again. There really is a wolf, but the lies are piled so high and deep it's pretty difficult to tell what's real and what isn't.

So either the Yemenis just foiled the plot that closed US embassies all over the world or it didn't. Welcome to the world of news that doesn't enlighten.

UPDATE II: You can see that I'm not the only one thinking it:

However, a U.S. intelligence official cast doubt on the country's statement, telling Fox News that the claim was premature and that there is still fear in the intelligence community about “soft targets” in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Nidal Hasan Trial Day 2: Defense Attorney Claims Hasan Wants Death Penalty

We're only at day two and already the Nidal Hasan case is in the second day of the absolutely bizarre. As you'll recall, yesterday Hasan, acting as his own lawyer, admitted to being the man responsible for the greatest act of terror on US soil since 9/11. He even went further than that claiming that he was, indeed, an enemy of the United States fighting on the other side in the war on terror. In effect, admitting to treason.

But today it got even more bizarre as Hasan's "standby counsel" -- the guy responsible for advising Hasan, but not arguing on his behalf -- got up and objected to his own client's defense strategy. He claimed Hasan's defense so far proved that the traitor wants to die.

So, Hasan wants to die. We want him dead. Win - win, right?

Nope, the lawyer just had to be an asshole about it and try to save Hasan's neck:

The court-martial of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of carrying out the 2009 mass shootings at Fort Hood, was suspended Wednesday after a lawyer accused the defendant of deliberately trying to secure a death sentence....

Wednesday morning, one of [Hasan's standby attorneys] Lt. Col. Kris Poppe, offered to step in and represent Hasan.

Poppe told military judge Col. Tara Osborn that it is “clear [Hasan’s] goal is to remove impediments or obstacles to the death penalty and is working toward a death penalty.” ...

“I object. That’s a twist of the facts,” Hasan responded. He repeatedly asked the judge for permission to explain why Poppe’s claim was wrong, but refused to do so in writing.

The lawyer then asked if his part in the trial could be "minimized" if Hasan was just trying to get himself martyred. And by "minimized" read: get me away from this psycho before his stink messes up my otherwise promising career!

The thing is, I think the lawyer might be right. Hasan seems to want the death penalty so he can become a "shaheed" and he's bent on using the trial not to defend himself, but as a public platform from which he can air his grievances.

Which is fine by me. Let him air his grievances if that means we're one day closer to Hasan becoming the martyr he wishes to be. Only, let's get this over with as quickly as possible. We've already waited four years for a trial that could have and should have been over years ago.

Can You Hear Me Now?

A Verizon worker had to call for help after being locked in an underground storage vault:

WESTBOROUGH (CBS) – Police say the owner of a Westborough storage facility took his anger out on a Verizon worker by locking him up.

Every second counted for Mike Hathaway who was sealed in an underground vault running out of air, and police say it was no accident. The victim was trapped when another man allegedly slammed the door. [...]

Hathaway called 911 from the vault and was eventually freed by a police officer.

Fortunately the signal was strong enough to call for help. No mention of what service the Verizon worker used. That lacking detail could be the obvious or it could be to avoid embarrassment.

Ramadan Bombathon 2013 Scorecard, Day 30

Today is the last day of Ramadan 2013. But today isn't over. Don't be surprised if more casualties are added. The current scorecard is as follows:

(Ramadan Bombathon Scorecard From TROP)

Yet some would have you believe all religions are equally violent and have their equal share of "extremists." Some would suggest "Islamophobia" is a greater threat than militant Islam.

Keep in mind, this scorecard doesn't keep track of those killed during crimes or war. This scorecard keeps track of those murdered only for not being the same religion or the same sect as the perpetrator(s), or as punishment when the perpetrator(s) feel their god has been slighted or insulted in some way.

Racist Obama Fan Runs Boston Globe Truck Off Road

695098880.jpegBoston Herald:

A Cadillac-driving OUI suspect — charged with running a Boston Globe delivery truck off Interstate 93 and onto the Leverett Connector — was carrying three EBT cards, mocked a cop “for paying for food when she gets it for free” and threatened to put a voodoo curse on him, according to a police report.

“I questioned her as to why she had other peoples (sic) EBT cards and she
began screaming that I was a ‘dumb (expletive)’ for paying for food when she gets it for free,” trooper William Kokocinski wrote of Vivencia
Bellegarde, 25, of Everett, noting she had her own electronic benefits transfer card and also the cards of two other people.

“She repeatedly called me a racist and told me she was from Haiti and she was gonna ‘put voodoo on my white (expletive),’” Kokocinski wrote. “(She) told me to Google her name and find out who I was ‘(expletive) with’. She further explained that her name translated means ‘give life take life’ and she emphasized ‘TAKE LIFE’. She then shouted that she was ‘coming for all you white (expletives).

Google her? Ummm OK.

Facebook says her page is "unavailable" but there's thingy called the Google Cache. Its pretty awesome.

Among other things she likes to smoke a bunt before bed, and also Barack Obama. And also she might be unemployed but um... she can do your dreads for only $35.

Damn. I hope she doesn't put a hex on me.

In January of 2013, Bahawal Khan was appointed as the new leader of the Commander Nazir Group (CNG). Since 2006, CNG has run training camps, dispatched suicide bombers, provided safe haven for al-Qaida fighters, and conducted cross-border operations in Afghanistan against the United States and its allies. In addition to its attacks against international forces in Afghanistan, CNG is also responsible for assassinations and intimidation operations against civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Reports of al-Nusra's Massacre of Kurds in Syria?

I'm hearing reports that up to 450 Kurds were murdered by al-Nusra front in Tal Abyad Syria.

RT: Unconfirmed reports have emerged detailing a new massacre in which 450 Kurds - including 120 children - were allegedly slaughtered by al-Qaeda-linked rebels fighting against the Syrian government. The report has sparked international concern.

According to Iranian TV channel Al-Alam, militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra Front attacked the town of Tal Abyad on Monday, killing 120 children and 330 women and elderly near the Turkish border.

As we've reported recently Syrian Kurdish rebels have been rejecting al-Nusra's attempts to take control of the Syrian rebellion. Here and here.

So of course al-Nusra has plenty of motive to want the freedom loving Kurds out of the way so they can impose a Taliban like state in Syria.

The problem is all these reports are coming from Iranian propaganda sites.

Voice of Palestine.
A new horrible video has been published on the internet and the gruesome video shows how foreign-supported terrorists in Syria are setting three Syrian Kurds on fire, while the perpetrators show no signs of humanity and hesitation before they have set the three Kurds on fire.
Here is a frame grab from the Press TV video that alleges to show Kurds being burned alive in Syria.

RT: The channel also ran horrific uncensored footage from the scene - the authenticity of which can’t be independently verified at this moment. For ethical reasons, RT will refrain from airing the video.
Ethical reasons? You mean like the fact that the video is an old recycled version of an al-Qaeda in Iraq video from February 2008?

I just happen to have a copy of that myself that I downloaded on 12/26/2007.

Here is a frame grab from my copy. As you can see they are both of the same murders.

The first casualty of war is the truth they say, but surely Iran can do better. What do they think we wouldn't notice the, you know, lie? Don't answer that.

al-Nusra may very well be massacring Kurds in Syria. If so its terrible news. We should support the Kurds over al-Qaeda and al-Nusra any day of the week. But so far the only new reports I have is this video of two people being executed by Islamist militants. I am unable to translate the caption so I cannot determine who is being killed by whom.

Nidal Hasan Trial Day 1: Hasan Admits "Yes, I am a Traitor"

Okay, so he didn't say those exact words. But his idiot lawyer claimed in opening statements today that: a) Hasan was the shooter; b) that Hasan had "switched sides" in the war on terror.

His lawyer concedes that Hasan was in a war. His lawyer also concedes that Hasan "switched sides" in the war.

Isn't that the very definition of treason?

Oh, did I mention that Nidal Hasan is defending himself? So, it was the defendant today admitting that he was a traitor. I don't quite get how this trial proceeds after the defendant admits to not only the crime he is accused of, murder, but worse -- treason:

In his opening statement Tuesday, Hasan said: “Evidence will show I was on the wrong side of America's war and I later switched sides. We in the mujahideen are imperfect beings trying to establish a perfect religion.… I apologize for any mistakes I have made in this endeavor.”

One of the prosecutors, Lt. Col. Steve Henricks, said of Hasan: “He didn't want to deploy [to Afghanistan] and he came to believe he had a jihad duty to murder soldiers.” Hasan, Colonel Hendricks said, wanted to "kill as many soldiers as he could."

After his admission of guilt on all counts, the trial went ahead and eight witnesses were called already. Hasan only asked questions of two of them, and if the reports are to believed, the questions weren't that probing or exculpatory in any way.

In fact, when the store owner was testifying that the defendant had bought the weapon used in the act of terror from him, Hasan interrupted:

When the weapon was presented as evidence, Hasan said: "Your honor, that is my weapon."
Hasan claims he'll only call two witnesses, but we've no idea who they are quite yet.

The good news here is that this sounds like it's going to be a very short trial. The bad news is that the last time the military executed anyone was in 1961.

So, it might be awhile til we get some satisfaction.

Bird Dogging Produces 4 Dead al Qaeda in Yemen
And, Sorta Related: ODS -- Obama Derangement Syndrome

Four members of al Qaeda have reportedly been killed in a drone strike in Yemen.

Yesterday, I discussed at length where the information leading to the closures of embassies around the Muslim world most likely came from. I also noted that the person who leaked the fact that we were intercepting communications between al Qaeda's #1 and al Qaeda's #2 should be prosecuted for tipping off the bad guys that we were on to them.

But there was something else I intentionally didn't mention: sometimes we leak information on purpose.

By on purpose here I don't mean for political purposes -- the usual reason secrets are leaked to the press.

No, in this context it's the intelligence community itself that wants some information let out. The basic idea being that when somebody we badly want goes to ground, it becomes more difficult to find them. Think of the nearly decade long search for Osama bin Laden, made all the more difficult because the man was a paranoid recluse -- and not without reason.

So, one way in which to flush out your enemies who are hidden well is to get them moving. Any one who has hunted certain fowl understand the concept, and why a dog trained to scare up the birds from the ground can be a valuable tool.

I'm not saying I have any super-secret information as to the motivations of those who leaked the information on the Zawahiri / Nasser al-Wuhayshi link to the "chatter". What I am saying is that ... well, we got four more bad guys in Yemen, which is most likely the weak link in the al Qaeda security chain:

A suspected U.S. drone strike in Yemen — the fourth reported in the last 10 days — killed four alleged Al Qaeda members Tuesday, as the U.S. and British governments evacuated their embassies because of intelligence suggesting a possible terrorist attack.

A drone-launched missile struck a vehicle in Marib province, east of the Yemeni capital, Sana, killing the four militants, according to the Yemen Post, a privately-owned English language newspaper. A second strike targeted a "militant hideout," the paper said, citing local security officials.

So, there you have it.

I've no idea if the two are related. If I sounded like I was sure of the connection in the above argument, that's just because I was presenting one side of the argument.

But I wanted to get that out there because I know a lot of you have become so cynical of the Obama White House that you now assume the worst motivations for pretty much everything any one in government does -- including those institutions which used to be seen as the most trustworthy by we conservatives, such as our intelligence, law enforcement, and military.

As much as we may detest the current occupant of the White House, though, we need to remember that Obama doesn't personally oversee most of what the government does. His fingerprints are not in every policy nor in every leak.

What I fear is that many of us on the right have become what the left was during the Bush era. Do you guys remember something we used to call BDS? Bush Derangement Syndrome. BDS was the tendency for those on the left to blame Bush for everything, to assign bad motivations for every move, and, at the extreme, to turn everything into a grand conspiracy.

You don't remember blood for oil? Or how as recently as ... now ... the current occupant of the White House continues to blame the former occupant of the White House for his own sucky .... everything?

That's BDS -- Bush Derangement Syndrome.

But there is also something equivalent to that on the right --- ODS. Obama Derangement Syndrome.

If you don't think ODS isn't real, I'm sorry, but you may be suffering it yourself. Sure, sometimes thinking people are out to get you is perceptive. But more often than not it's just paranoia.

What's funny is that one of the biggest paranoids on the Left who stoked the flames of BDS has now become the hero to many on the right who suffer from ODS -- Glenn Greenwald. The guy who "broke" the story about the NSA's domestic "spying".

When a guy like that become you're hero, clearly you've left the reservation of sanity and into the Twilight Zone.

Make no mistake about what I am saying. I despise President Obama. I loathe him. He is clearly the worst President in modern history. I think that is an empirical fact.

But, give the guy credit where credit is due: he knows and cares so little about counter-terrorism policy that he pretty much has left that up to the professionals in the field. And you know what? Nothing has seriously changed since the Bush era. At least, not on the foreign front. We keep droning them, they keep on coming at us. It's standard Bush era policy.

Woman Trapped In Man's Body Discovers She Was Really Just A Straight Guy

Apparently, after becoming a woman he was unable to make up his mind.

ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn.

But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don.

"I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing me up in a wig and bra and making fake ID's with the name 'Dawn' on it. Seriously," Ennis wrote in an e-mail to friends and colleagues Friday, explaining his shock after he woke up from what he called a "transient global amnesia" last month. [...]

"It became obvious this was not the case once I took off the bra -- and discovered two reasons I was wearing one," he said, referring to his hormone-induced breasts.

In typical Freudian male fashion, he then went on to blame his mother for his man-boobs.

The Gun Reality Democrats Just Can't Seem To Understand

Despite the news of plummeting gun crime in the wake of soaring gun sales, Democrat Terry McAuliffe still thinks people would feel safer if their were fewer guns in America. I'm sure there are some who feel that way. Some who think a criminal with a gun is safer than a criminal and a law-abiding citizen with a gun. After all, one gun usually equals one dead victim, but two guns equal a wild west shootout certain to leave countless bodies and orphaned children (not to mention the civil rights violations of the criminal). Better to lose one life than to risk losing two.

McAuliffe believes the real issue is not lowering gun crime. The real issue is giving people the illusion of safer cities by citing fewer guns:

"There are certain people that should not own guns and with all the issues we've had, and the comparison of Newtown and Aurora, and gun violence going down--that's not the issue. I think I speak for every Virginia parent, when you drive your child off to school, you want to know that your child is going to be safe." [...]

The NRA notes that McAuliffe also supports a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity magazines. The NRA says McAuliffe wants to criminalize private firearms transfers. The transfer ban McAuliffe wants, according to the NRA, would include between friends and family members.

The reality is, more guns in the hands of responsible, law-abiding citizens make the streets safer for everyone. Fewer guns only make the streets safer for the criminals, who really don't give a rat's ass about your "weapons prohibited" signs, background checks, cooling off periods, magazine limits, or about endangering your children in school.

They only care about their own selfish agenda, whether it means a few bucks for a stolen iPhone, a racist beat down, a political or religious statement, or just plain craziness. The bad guys will always have weapons.

The real question is, should the good guys become sitting ducks or should they be able to defend themselves and others? Democrats like Terry McAuliffe believe the former.

Anyone Feel Safer?

A 95 year old WWII veteran in a nursing home refused a medical procedure that would have left him on life support.

So Chitown officers killed his ass.

The family of a 95-year-old man who died during a confrontation with Park Forest police is disputing the department's version of events and asking whether their relative was killed unnecessarily.

Police say they tased John Wrana and fired beanbag rounds at him at a retirement home last Friday after he threatened staff and officers with a metal cane and 2-foot metal shoehorn, then grabbed a 12-inch knife. Wrana died hours later of internal bleeding caused by the shots.

Nice work there fellas.

Tawana Brawley Finally Ordered to Pay For Defamation

A black woman who set off a racial firestorm as a teenager after alleging she was raped by a group of white men in 1987 has begun making defamation payments to one of them.

Tawana Brawley has paid just over $3,700 to former county prosecutor Steven Pagones, the New York Post reported ( Pagones won a claim against her and her advisers, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, after he was named as an attacker.

Twanna refused to attend the hearing because....
In a July 22 legal brief signed by Brawley and submitted by Maddox, Brawley contends she wouldn’t submit herself to the court’s jurisdiction because an appearance in the court, “which inferentially sympathizes with the Confederate States of America, would be contrary to the US Constitution and would amount to a ‘badge of slavery.’ ”
Pulling out all the stops Brawley's disbarre lawyer also claimed she should not have to pay because as a black she is exempt from the common law and instead the case should be heard under Slave Law.
“The common law applies to whites. The slave code still applies to blacks,” he said.
Twanna will have her wages garnished to pay her part of the settlement. If she doesn't quit her job. Her parents claim this is unjust and "We should be millionaires."

Um yeah.

Ed and Martha's Three Way Calling Feature Leads To Closing of US Embassy in Yemen

Sekrit Jawa sources, that's me and my BS have learned that the NSA intercepted a three way call between Martha, Ayman al-Zawahiri and al-Qaeda's now second in command Nasser al-Wuhayshi.

While the three were discussing RV survival tricks, cell phone boosters and mountainous terrain, Ayman rambled on as usual and let slip that al-Wuhayshi's rented his Winnebombo from the same dealer who last year ripped off Ed with excessive mileage charges, "Ed only wanted to pay for the miles he actually used." She said. "You should see what he charges when it comes back in a dumpster.", al-Wuhayshi replied.

The US has evacuated all non essential personnel from Yemen, out of an abundance of caution.

Ed and Martha's cell phone meta data has become an intelligence boon for the USA in recent weeks. Exposing or thwarting multiple attacks in places where attacks didn't happen.

Leak: Chatter Leading to Embassy Closings from ... Zawahiri

This allegedly comes straight from the top. Which means we're either reading Zawahir's email or tapping his phones.

The big story here shouldn't be we're tapping Zawahiri's phones & email: yes, were' that good.

The real headline should be "Zawahiri on the move after getting key intel from New York Times that US is on to him".

In answer to AllahP's question: We won't prosecute the leaker, but we should.

Welcome to the new normal of the Obama Presidency.

But let me also contradict myself here and put some of AllahP's angst to rest about Zawahiri finding out we're reading his emails. By all accounts Zawahiri is even more recluse and careful about the CIA/NSA finding him than even Sheikh Osama himself. And remember, Osama wore a cowboy hat in his own compound while outdoors to fool CIA satellites. So, we're talking pretty paranoid here.

It's much more likely that the person/persons who's email/phone is being monitored is Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the head of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and perhaps even considered #2 by AQ Central these days.

Let's just say the boys at AQ in Yemen are a little less careful about who they email and who they talk to on the phone. The B team, so to speak. Minor league, with aspirations for the majors.

Exhibit A: Anwar al Awlaki and Samir Khan's corpses -- who were said to be on the phone at the moment of droning. Exhibit B: last week's drone strike in Yemen of Al Khidr Husayn al Ja'dani, another big whig in the AQAP cast of former stars.

And it could very well be that the "chatter" was in an encrypted email. AQAP is well known for their use of the Asrar al-Mujahideen encryption key. They publicly release the key to their readers, encouraging them to use it as a way to thwart the Zionist-Crusaders from finding out who is emailing whom, and what.

Yes, I'm saying we're that good.

I know a lot of people who think this is just hype drummed up by the Obama admin to show a victory for the NSA program. But if this really did come from the top of al Qaeda's not so vertically organized pyramid, then it's not the least bit hype. It's something to legitimately worry about.

However, the fact that this was leaked? Well, either the leaker is a major POS who really wants our national security compromised, or .... the leak itself was designed to show a win in the NSA column.

The leak itself might be legitimately questioned as fishy, but I think we can put to rest the idea that the whole thing was blown way out of proportion simply for political reasons from the White House.

UPDATE: Speaking of leaks -- why is the Obama admin leaking info on Israel's strike on Syria?

CNN Reporters Worried They'll Lose WH Access if They Report on Phony Benghazi Scandal

Wonder why CNN hasn't followed up on its revelations last week that 30 CIA agents were on the ground in Benghazi? Why none of them have been contacted about the incident? And why none of the prime suspects have been interviewed by the FBI either?

Okay, strike that last part. As I said before, the FBI just aint going to be interviewing known al Qaeda sympathizers in a country with little or no central government.

But what about the rest? Why no follow up? Wonder no more:

Some CNN reporters are reportedly fearful now that their access to the White House will be hampered following their probing into a story that members of the Obama administration would prefer remain uninvestigated.
I think it's more than this. It's not just that reporters don't want to lose access to powerful people when they say bad things about them, it's that they have a vested partisan interest when those powerful people are Democrats.

And it's only gotten worse under Obama since they have a vested interest in the success of the first black president.

Today I was listening to NPR while driving and they were interviewing David Epstein, an editor at Sports Illustrated, about his new book The Sports Gene. Most sports fans will know the controversy surrounding the book in that Epstein argues that there are small genetic differences which at the top end -- such as in professional sports -- lead to one genetic subtype doing better in a sport than others. Think Kenyans from a particular tribe (I forget which one) and long distance running (although, he also says it's not just genetics but also some other stuff -- like being poor and having nothing better to do).

If I understand his argument it isn't so much that black people are better at sports as much as it is that some people from certain tribal or ethnic subpopulations in Africa are better at certain sports because of very slight variation among populations such as the thigh to body ratio.

And the reason I bring this up is that during the interview, but not mention in NPR's write up on it, is that Epstein made a pretty amazing claim. He said that even scientists are so hyper sensitive about issues of race that some of them have admitted to sitting on data which shows genetic differences for fear of being called a 'racist'. He said that this was true even when the genetic differences had nothing to do with intelligence or other factors which could possibly be construed as racist.

If scientists are willing to sit on data for fear of being called a racist by their peers, I imagine that a similar fear of social stigma is something that most reporters -- who are part of a social circle far more overtly leftist and burdened by upper class white guilt than are scientists -- would be afraid to say bad things about President You-Know-Who.

Things that might make him look bad. Like, say, the first death of a US ambassador since Jimmy Carter's presidency.

Alas, the crime rate at the Shackleford household has not seen any change either way since more guns than people were introduced into the environment. Granted, the Shackleford household started with a baseline of zero crime, but come on, I was promised less crime!

Firearms sales rose 16 percent to a record 490,119 guns purchased from licensed gun dealers in 2012, according to sales estimates obtained by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

During the same period, major crimes committed with firearms dropped 5 percent to 4,378.

al-Qaeda Fixes Leak?

Al-Qaeda gunmen on a motorbike shot dead an intelligence officer in Yemen's central province of al-Bayda on Sunday evening, a provincial police official told the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

"Major Mohammad Nasser al-Mamary, with the Political Security Agency, was killed tonight near a popular market by two al-Qaida gunmen driving a motorcycle while he was driving back home," the official said.

"The attackers left a leaflet near the body of the dead officer, saying it was in revenge for recent U.S. drone strikes," he said.

Ed And Martha's Meta Data Instrumental in Early Detection of Generic Terrorist Attack Against Indian Embassy in Afghanistan

Unnamed Jawa sources have learned that Meta Data related to Ed and Martha's cellular phone helped the NSA detect and ultimately make informed guesses about which in a group of generic terrorist groups were behind a brazen attack in Kabul over the weekend.

The Taliban denied responsibility for the attack, and suspicion instead fell upon Pakistan-based terrorist groups that have been blamed for deadly violence against Indian interests in Afghanistan in the past.

Groups known for targeting Indian interests include Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was blamed for the 2008 attack on the Indian city of Mumbai that killed 166 people, and the Haqqani network which is based in Pakistan's lawless tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan.

After Ed and Martha's meta data indicated they were in the know, further investigation intercepted a call in which Ed was complaining about excessive bank charges saying quote, " I only want to pay for what I need."

Using sophisticated technology to isolate the background noise in the call the NSA was able to intercent an MSNBC feed playing in the background indicating there had been an attack in Kabul

Out of an abundance of caution, all US embassies and consulates will remain closed in list of Middle East nations that Ed and Martha were able to name under enhanced interrogation.

As for who was behind the attack in Kabul, it was probably Lashkar-e-Taiba, if you guys think so, maybe, I guess.

"Innocent" Gitmo Prisoner Calls on Taliban to Storm Gitmo

Moazzam Begg is held up by both the Left and Islamists as evidence that most Gitmo prisoners were just innocent guys wandering around Afghanistan herding goats when the meany-Americans profiled them and just started putting every Mo, Azziz, and Machmood in prison.

If this guy wasn't al Qaeda, how come he's so keen on al Qaeda breaking prisoners out of Iraqi jails? And why does he want the Taliban to do the same in Gitmo?

Begg is one of the jihad supporting assmaggots behind the group masquerading as a "human rights" organization called Cage Prisoners. This is a group that had Anwar al-Awlaki as their keynote speaker at a "human rights fundraiser". You know, the former external operations chief for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Country Known for False Accusations to Charge Man Known to Kill Political Opponents

I can't help but always fall back into my default position which is that since corruption is so rampant in countries like Pakistan that it's equally believable that Musharraf being framed as it is that he actually did it.

So, flip a coin. Heads Musharraf is guilty, tails the ISI made the whole thing up:

Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will be charged next week with the alleged murder of ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, his lawyer said, the latest turn in a political drama that has unfolded since his return from exile in March....

Ahmed Raza Kasuri, Mr. Musharraf's lawyer, said the pending cases against Mr. Musharraf were "false, fabricated and fictitious."

Thanks to Newman.

Morocco: The Anti-Everywhere Else in the Middle East

As I read this essay by Michael Totten on why Morocco is a much better place then practically everywhere else in the Muslim world, I couldn't help but think of Burke's Reflections on the French Revolution.

Key to understanding Morocco's success is that the King is the leading reformer in the country. In other words, when revolution came to Morocco the nation was able to maintain key social institutions. Something students of Burke will recognize as a key point on why the French Revolution failed but the American Revolution was so successful.

Also of note is that the Islam practiced in Morocco is a far cry from the Salaafism that radiates outward from the Saudi peninsula. And that about half of Moroccons aren't Arabs, but Berbers who were never too keen on being ruled by some far off Caliph -- whether of the Arab or Turkish variety.

It also didn't hurt that when the King decided to limit his own power through Constitutional reform, he excluded both the Communists and the Islamists. Smart man.

Go read it all. A lot of fascinating stuff there. I'd say there was some hope in it, but as someone trained in statistics I'm not sure the outlier is the best predictor.

Mysterious Pentagram In Kazakhstan

A strange pentagram was found in a relatively uninhabited part of majority Muslim Kazakhstan. Here is one view:

Another Muslim Cleric Gunned Down For Preaching Intolerance

No, wait... Like the first I reported, he was gunned down for preaching unity and harmony:

The central leader of Jamaat-i-Ahl-i-Sunnat, Maulana Muhammad Yaqoob Qadri, was killed in Benazirabad district on Thursday. According to police, four unknown armed assailants riding over two motorbikes attacked Qadri as he left his house in the Munee Bazaar area, which is also called Mohni Bazaar. [...]

According to Qadri's son Danyal Qadri, some suspects were filming his father last Friday when he was addressing a rally in Benazirabad. "In his speech, he told them that he was not afraid of their activities and that he will sacrifice his life struggling for unity of Muslims and sectarian harmony."

Notice he wasn't even preaching harmony with infidels or Jews, but only unity with other Muslims. That was enough to outrage radicals.

It's funny how a "tiny" minority of Muslims turn up in tens or hundreds of thousands to protest some "blasphemy" against Islam or Muhammad, yet the majority can't even manage a small gathering to protest the killing of someone for advocating peace.

'Swat Team' Storms Animal Shelter To Kill Fugitive Baby Deer

I've always had the belief that a true police state was impossible in America. That, no matter how many fascists and Judenräte the government employs, there would always be enough conscientious officials to keep them in check. Some abuses are inevitable, but a majority of law enforcement are good, decent people who enjoy the same freedom most citizens do.

But it's cases like this that make me question my own beliefs:

The raid, complete with multiple squad cars and several armed officers from the state Department of Natural Resources, was organized after DNR officials received a tip about a two-week-old fawn who was being cared for by the no-kill animal shelter.

The young deer, named "Giggles," was being cared for by the rescue agency until she could be transferred to a wildlife shelter.

But Giggles never had the opportunity to be transferred because the DNR agents who descended upon the shelter killed her instead.

A lot of people beyond the actual participants were involved in this raid. There were judges who signed the warrants and supervisors within the departments. And to go in so heavily armed. Did they expect the baby deer to put up a fight? Or were they just willing to kill a few shelter volunteers who may have resisted? Makes me wonder whether anyone of them questioned the resources or the tactic used.

Especially when the situation was already resolving itself by the shelter, which made arrangements for the fawn to be transported to a wildlife center the very next day. Were the involved officers aware of this and did they then rush to execute the warrant before the transfer could happen? If so, why?

Seattle To Ban "Offensive" Words

The city of Seattle has announced it will no longer use certain common words that may potentially be offensive to some. Among them, "citizen," "brown bag," "dinosaur," "birthday," and "halloween":

Government workers in the city of Seattle have been advised that the terms "citizen" and "brown bag" are potentially offensive and may no longer be used in official documents and discussions. [...]

"Luckily, we've got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For 'citizens,' how about 'residents?'"

In an interview with Seattle's KIRO Radio, Bronstein said the term "brown bag" has been used historically as a way to judge skin color.

"For a lot of particularly African-American community members, the phrase brown bag does bring up associations with the past when a brown bag was actually used, I understand, to determine if people's skin color was light enough to allow admission to an event or to come into a party that was being held in a private home," Bronstein said.

A few potentially offensive words and phrases I think should be banned:

Sandcrawler PSA: Al-Qaeda is Decimated BUT We're Going to Close All Our Embassies Anyway

The State Department will close a number of U.S. embassies and consulates on Sunday due to "more than the usual chatter" about a potential terrorist threat.

A senior U.S. official said that although the threat does not have a great deal of specificity about time and location, it is being taken "very seriously."

U.S. "interests" including military installations could also see additional security and protection measures. The official, and a second official as well, noted that tensions are rising with the approach of both the holy days at the end of Ramadan and the first anniversary of the September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya.

These aren't the droids we're looking for. Move along. Move along.

100% Proof Sasquatch is Real

Pat Dollard:

New video footage of a mystery figure walking through the Canadian wilderness has sparked excitement among Bigfoot believers.

The 27-second clip shows a large ape-like creature, apparently covered in dark hair, making its way across a forest hilltop before disappearing out of sight.

The clip has racked up more than 260,000 hits on YouTube after being released by the developers of augmented reality adventure app, Legend Tracker. They received thousands of videos after asking people to submit real-life footage of close encounters with the famed sasquatch and other legendary creatures.

Here is a video of Bigfoot terrorizing some Chinese tourists.

And finally Jawa Report's submission. Which also incidentally proves that Sandy Duncan has mastered teleportation and is Lindsay Wagner's lesbian lover.

Hold me. I'm frightened.

UK Man Arrested For "Racial" Tattoo

From The Daily Mail (emphasis mine):

Sean Reah, of South Shields, South Tyneside, has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

The 39-year-old was reportedly recently pictured lifting up his T-shirt to reveal an image of a Muslim place of worship with 'BOOM!' displayed across it.

As tasteless as this tattoo may be, it is a form of personal expression that should be protected, or better yet, ignored. But apparently, in the UK, such freedom of expression no longer exists.

A "Gentle" Beating

Yet another Islamic cleric confirms wife beating an acceptable part of Islam:

The Washington Times reports that cleric Mahmoud Al-Denawy responded to a question from a woman of Norway during a June 17 show on African Iqra TV that asked 'What's the Islamic view on the beating of wives?'

According to the reports the cleric also said that non-believers of Islam often use that issue as a point of criticism.

He further clarified that if a woman disobeys her husband, then the husband should first try to verbally correct her.

If that doesn't work, he should then move to a different bed. And the last resort should be to beat her gently, but not on her face the report added

Just beat her "gently." Can you feel the love?

Asking For It

A social experiment in sex - a guy asking girls for sex:

A girl asking guys for sex:

This just goes to show that old double standard, when a man has sex with a lot of woman, he's a stud. When a woman has sex with a lot of men, she's a slut. But when a woman asks for sex from a lot of different men, it's an offer most men can't refuse. But when a man asks for sex, well, that's just really creepy.

POS of the Day

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A disabled woman who thought that she was getting help from a nice man who offered to assist her in getting into her building, got robbed instead.

The incident happened on July 15th at 2:30 a.m. in the Hamilton Heights section of Manhattan.

48-year-old Carre Ramirez was using a walker at the time.

Suddenly, he dropped his hold on the door, and placed the woman in a chokehold instead.

He forced her to the ground and ripped the two gold chains she was wearing off of her neck and ran away.

Choking an old lady out for bling? If you know the POS please call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Ramabombadon Continues in Iraq With Extra Feelin'

So much extra feelin' that they ran out of bombs and had to resort to drive by AK spray.

The AP headline is "Drive-by shootings, bombings kill 26 in Iraq." Once again, we see the curious displacement of agency that is so common in such stories. Actually, it was Islamic jihadis who killed 26 in Iraq.

"Drive-by shootings, bombings kill 26 in Iraq,",

Also the level of violence is interfering with normal life.

Interfering with normal life? Heh....
