Dripping Irony, Illinois Can't House Its Own Prisoners, Welcomes GITMO Terrorists

There has been a story in Bumfuct this week about Governor Rod's replacement Pat Quinn secretly releasing inmates to save cash. This is not the public program that he announced earlier to release non violent inmates early to save a few bucks. No this was an under the radar release to er uh save a few bucks.

Google News: SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Critics heaped scorn on Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn on Monday over a secret prison program that allowed hundreds of inmates — some violent offenders — to be released early, including some who only spent 11 days behind bars.

An Associated Press report released Sunday showed that more than 850 inmates — including repeat drunk drivers, drug users and even people convicted of battery and weapons violations — were released early under the program since September.

This happened because the Corrections Department abandoned a policy that all prisoners serve at least 61 days and gave inmates months of good-time credit upfront.

Quinn ordered a "top-to-bottom" review of the practice on Sunday after seeing the AP report. The Democrat would not say on Monday whether Corrections Director Michael Randle told him about the unpublicized practice, which is separate from an early release program of 1,000 inmates Quinn announced in September to save money in a budget crisis.

But now today we find that the deal to sell an empty prison to the Feds to house terrorists is a go.
Yahoo News: WASHINGTON – Taking an important step on the thorny path to closing the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the White House plans to announce Tuesday that the government will acquire an underutilized state prison in rural Illinois to be the new home for a limited number of terrorist suspects held at Guantanamo.

Administration officials as well as Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will make an official announcement at the White House.

So Illinois is so broke it has prisoners, it has an empty prison, it can't afford to pay to put the inmates in the prison so it releases them and sells out.

Hey ya'll remember what state our President was from? Yeah that's right Illinois.

Just think, now the nation can benefit from the same leadership that Illinois politicians give their state.

/end sarcasm.
