Rifqa Bary's Imam Buddies with Anwar al-Awlaki, al Qaeda's #1 fan and the man who inspired Nidal Hasan to Massacre
Like I've said before, I'm agnostic on Rifqa Bary's motive for running away from home and just how much danger she is there. What I do have a problem with is a judicial system turning a blind eye to the threat of honor killing and allowing CAIR attorney's to be present when Rifqa's parents were interviewed.
Cultural sensitivity is a nice sentiment, but so is truth. And the truth is there are a significant minority of Muslim immigrants who have brought with them customs that have no place in America.
Salah Sultan, formerly of the Noor Mosque in Columbus, Ohio, (before he himself was barred from entering the United States), and Anwar al-Awlaki, Nidal Hasan's jihadist imam, led a Hajj trip together in 2002....Again, Anwar al Awlaki is the American imam now in exile in Yemen. He's alleged to now be on the run since it was revealed that the Fort Hood murderer Nidal Hasan was a big fan. Apparently the feeling was mutual as Awlaki's last blog posting was in praise of Nidal Hasan's massacre.Yet we are told that Rifqa Bary won't be in any danger, as a convert from Islam to Christianity, if she is returned to her father, who attends this mosque and who she says threatened to kill her.
And the mosque Rifqa's parents attends once was presided over by a friend of al-Awlaki.
No, this doesn't prove that Rifqa's life is in danger. But it is evidence that the kind of Islam that her family practices would be more suited to Saudi Arabia than her parent's native Sri Lanka. And that I think is something the court needs to look into.
