Updated: Al Qaeda in Yemen Seizes Japanese Hostage from Tribesmen
Update: The governor of Sana'a says he is still with the original group of tribal kidnappers and negotiations are underway. Yemeni officials do not have a great record of telling the truth but in this case I hope its true.
Original post: Damn. Japanese engineer, 63-year-old Takeo Mashimo was earlier kidnapped by tribesmen who wanted to bargain for the release of a 22 year old held by the state without charges after fighting in Iraq. Hammoud Mounassar (the Yemeni president's translator) reports for AFP that Al-Qaeda gunmen seized Mr. Mashimo last night from his tribal kidnappers in Yemen.
