Yemen's President Gets Recruits from Al Qaeda, US Non-Committal on New Military Aid

A few days ago a leading Saudi member of Yemen's Al Qaeda called for Sunni men to join with Yemeni President Saleh's forces in battling the Shiite Houthi rebels.

It would be a bit sticky (or is it just me) if the US was to arm and train them.

The Yemeni government is insisting it inked a new military deal with the US yesterday. The US however declined to comment, AFP noted.

Update: To clarify, its quite possible the Yemeni government is lying; they do it all the time. Every visit by any US official, according to reports from SABA news agency over the last five years, is for the express purpose of praising Yemen's democracy and counter-terror cooperation. But in this case, the Obama administration has already raised the subject of doubling military aid.
