Anwar Awlaki's Blog Down

Well here's some kind of good news anyway. Yemeni-American jihad proponent and associate of Nidal Hasan, Anwar Awlaki's website is down. It was hosted in the US.

Hasan was in contact with several known al Qaeda figures. More on the Hasan/Awalki nexus here and at USA Today:

Despite the contact between the two men, the FBI did not investigate Hasan further in the Awlaki case because "the content of those communications was consistent with research being conducted by Maj. Hasan in his position as a psychiatrist at the Walter Reed Medical Center," in Washington, D.C., where he counseled soldiers returning home from combat or heading overseas, the FBI website said.
Exchanging emails with an al Qaeda sympathizer doesn't automatically make you a terrorist yourself, and its unclear if the concerns and reports received by the military were forwarded to the FBI. The FBI's press release is here : "The investigation to date has not identified a motive..."
