Meet the Rodney King of the "Extraordinary Rendition" Program: Khaled al-Masri

Remember that "hero" Rodney King, who's victimhood status propelled him to become a celebrity icon? After he won his $3.8 million civil suit against the LAPD he continued to pop up from time to time on TV after he'd been arrested for this or that criminal offense.

That's some "hero" you got there.

In any event, meet Germany's Rodney King: Khaled al-Masri. Al-Masri was the "victim" of the US "extraordinary rendition" program. After his release he reached hero status among the European Left as proof that the US was out to get innocent Muslims and circumvent the law.

In several past articles, John Rosenthal has exposed al-Masri's radical Islamist ties (follow the links in the article).

But what finally propelled al-Masri to Rodney King status was this week's attack on the mayor of Neu-Ulm. Al-Masri has been in trouble with the law ever since he's been back in Germany, but German courts have insisted that his crimes were the result of "US torture".

We'll see if al-Masri finally serves any time, but don't count on it. Apparently German judges believe that each and every victim of al-Masri's crimes have only the CIA to blame.

Which, come to think about it, doesn't seem so far out of line with Eric Holder's views about the CIA.

Maybe Holder will become Germany's next Hasselhoff? You never know.
