A Terrorist Associated Mosque Near Site of 2012 Olympics
Jen in the UK found an interesting article in yesterday's print version of The Evening Standard. For some reason, she couldn't find any reference to it online. But here's what it said:
An Islamic sect with links to the airline bomb plotters and 7/7 suicide bombers has been warned it faces legal action over its illegal mosque near London's Olympic park. So, it's a permitting issue? The group preaches the hate and oppression that is political Islam -- the very same hate that led to the London Tube Bombings -- and they're worried about a zoning permit?Newham council has given Tablighi Jamaat six months to submit plans for a "mega-mosque" or risk the removal of a temporary Portakabin-style structure it has used without planning permission for three years.
Tablighi Jamaat was followed by the 7/7 bombers and one of the 21/7 plotters.
Last week it was revealed that a mosque it controls in Queen's Road, Walthamstow, had been frequented by airline gang ringleader Abdulla Ahmed Ali, who was jailed on Monday for a minimum of 40 years for plotting to bring down seven transatlantic planes.
Today it emerged that Newham had made clear to Tablighi Jamaat that it would not approve a new bid for temporary permission to keep the building on the site at Abbey Mills. Tablighi Jamaat owns the site, making it impossible for the council to evict it from the land. Prayers are held daily in its temporary structure, with around 2,000 people attending on Thursdays.
It's good that they're finally doing something, but it's been three years and the group has been given six extra months to comply. Is this normal bureaucratic procedure in the UK or has the mosque been given special treatment because, you know, you wouldn't want to offend the ROP?
