This is not your father's Khalid Shiekh Mohammad. The photo was taken by the Red Cross at Guantanamo Bay, then sent to KSM's family, who then promptly leaked it to forums linked to Islamist radicals (or who gave it to confidants who, unsurprisingly, hang out at Islamist forums).

Good work by our friend Jarret Brachmann, who first brought the photo to the attention of the MSM. Pay special attention to the internet history of the photos here.
