Alabama Man Identified as al-Shabaab Leader Abu Mansour al-Amriki

A week after the 9/11 attacks, a young Muslim at South Alabama University told the school's newspaper it was "difficult to believe a Muslim could have done this."

Now, eight years later, he is professing to launch attacks himself and calling on others to join the fight, as terror-related charges await him at home in Alabama, FOX News has learned exclusively.

..He was born Omar Hammami in May 1984, and he grew up outside Mobile, Ala., in the city of Daphne.

Update by Rusty: I inserted the image above of "Abu Mansoor al-Amriki". I grabbed it from a video made by the Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) last April on behalf of the al Shabaab terrorists in Somalia.

At the time, I wrote:

Here is a close up. Any one recognize the traitor? I'd really like a name if you have it. At the forums, all the bros are saying he's "white". He looks Arab to me.
Hmmm, Omar Hammami sounds Arabic to me. Looks like I was right, and the akhis were wrong.

Let me also add this from the Fox story. One wonders where Hmmami learned to embrace his inner jihad?

During his later teenage years, Hammami attended Daphne High School and frequented the Islamic Society of Mobile, one of the most popular mosques in the Mobile area. It's unclear whether he was always a practicing Muslim, but a source told FOX News that he has family ties to Islam. A call to the mosque was not returned.
Any mosque with "Islamic Society" in it makes me think that it is part of the Islamic Society of North America -- the Muslim Brotherhood's US and Canadian affiliate.
