Muslims Riot, Murder Once Again ... Over Non-Existent Koran Desecration
Desecrate a "holy book", get killed. And this isn't just the fringe, it's the law, as the AFP notes in the second to last paragraph.
So why stop the mobs from rioting and murdering? Well, for the same reason that we don't allow vigilantism in any form: the state wants to have the monopoly on executing the law. In this case, killing any one who might desecrate a Quran.
That's some religion you got there.

An angry mob of Muslims on Saturday killed six Christians and wounded dozens after burning 40 houses and a church over the alleged desecration of the Koran in a remote Pakistani town, officials said...Of course they were baseless, as are almost all accusations against Christians desecrating the Quran or blaspheming Mohammad or whatever in majority Muslim countries. These Christians aren't stupid. They know that they are second class citizens in their own countries. Christians don't go around provoking their neighbors when they know those neighbors might up and kill them.Six Christians including a child were killed and more than a dozen were injured in this sad incident," Shahbaz Bhatti, federal minister of minorities told AFP by telephone, saying they were attacked by "a group of people.
"Some people blamed the Christians for the desecration of the holy Koran," he said adding that the accusations were "baseless".
As the jihadis are so fond of saying, we love life while they only love death.
