Muslim Woman Gets Caning for Drinking Beer
(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) A Malaysian model, Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarnor, was caught drinking beer in a hotel and sentenced by an Islamic court to six lashes with a rattan cane.
Women's rights activists and members of the public have expressed outrage, however, Islamic lawyers say she will be whipped with a thin cane which "does not cause severe pain."
Heh. So it came to pass that under Islam, lawyers tell patients how much pain they feel.
Alternatively, in the U.S. we expect patients to tell doctors how much pain they feel. Of course, if hopey-changey health care becomes effective in the U.S., bureaucrats will tell patients how much pain they feel.
