Foreign Aid to Yemen is a Bad Idea
My new article at World Press makes the point that the regime in Sana'a is beyond rehabilitation. The Obama administration bumped US assistance to over 100 million in economic and military aid in 2010, but donors pledged $4.6 billion to Yemen in 2006 and it didn't help. The Yemeni government is engaged in a brutal civilian slaughter, a widespread media crackdown and facilitates al Qaeda. Increasing US military aid is a waste of money that may inadvertently escalate instability in Yemen and the region. Read it here.
