Obama Picks Sonia Sotomayor For Supreme Court

via NPR:

President Obama will nominate federal appeals court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace David Souter on the Supreme Court, NPR has learned. If confirmed, Sotomayor will become the first Hispanic and the third woman to serve on the high court.

Administration officials say Sotomayor, with 17 years on the bench, would bring more judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any justice confirmed in the past 70 years.

I dunno, I figured he'd wait a while. Or at least that was the buzz last week. Maybe he figures he'll need more than one try?

Update: More here at Hot Air:

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.” — Judge Sonia Sotomayor, in her Judge Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Lecture at the University of California (Berkeley) School of Law in 2001
Did she really say that? Well yes, Because to be racist/sexist against white males is all the rage baby.
